shall_v not_o need_v to_o pray_v when_o they_o come_v in_o heaven_n there_o all_o their_o desire_n shall_v be_v satisfy_v and_o they_o shall_v want_v nothing_o and_o therefore_o no_o need_n to_o pray_v but_o the_o lord_n he_o send_v you_o into_o the_o sea_n of_o this_o world_n that_o he_o may_v learn_v you_o to_o pray_v and_o he_o raise_v many_o storm_n for_o this_o end_n that_o so_o you_o may_v cry_v mighty_o to_o the_o lord_n the_o disciple_n when_o in_o a_o storm_n they_o cry_v lord_n save_v we_o we_o perish_v brethren_n you_o be_v at_o sea_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o storm_n and_o therefore_o you_o have_v need_v watch_n and_o pray_v and_o cry_v mighty_o that_o you_o may_v be_v deliver_v from_o temptation_n and_o save_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o your_o fear_n and_o be_v deliver_v from_o the_o rock_n and_o the_o sand_n and_o from_o pirate_n &_o enemy_n many_o danger_n you_o be_v in_o &_o therefore_o remember_v what_o christ_n say_v unto_o his_o disciple_n watch_n and_o pray_v that_o the_o presence_n of_o christ_n may_v be_v with_o you_o for_o if_o christ_n be_v with_o you_o all_o will_v be_v safe_a six_o 6._o you_o that_o be_v the_o lord_n people_n do_v you_o open_v the_o sail_n of_o your_o soul_n to_o the_o breathe_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n if_o you_o will_v make_v a_o voyage_n to_o heaven_n know_v that_o you_o can_v do_v nothing_o till_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n breathe_v in_o you_o indeed_o you_o may_v turn_v the_o sail_n of_o your_o soul_n that_o way_n and_o be_v wait_v for_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n but_o till_o the_o spirit_n breathe_v in_o you_o you_o can_v sail_v one_o league_n but_o o_o what_o a_o comfortable_a voyage_n shall_v you_o make_v when_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n shall_v fill_v your_o heart_n with_o holy_a motion_n and_o carry_v you_o god-ward_o and_o heaven-ward_n therefore_o wait_v for_o those_o breathe_n of_o the_o spirit_n as_o the_o spouse_n in_o cant._n 4._o 16._o awake_v o_o north_n wind_n and_o come_v thou_o south_n blow_v upon_o my_o garden_n that_o the_o spice_n thereof_o may_v flow_v out_o and_o so_o do_v you_o beg_v of_o god_n that_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n may_v breathe_v upon_o you_o and_o fill_v the_o sail_n of_o your_o soul_n that_o you_o may_v be_v carry_v heaven-ward_n open_v your_o soul_n to_o the_o breathe_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n and_o that_o be_v the_o way_n to_o make_v a_o comfortable_a voyage_n seven_o 7._o you_o that_o be_v the_o lord_n people_n if_o you_o be_v christ_n ship_n at_o sea_n look_v for_o good_a load_n be_v not_o content_a to_o go_v home_o empty_a christian_n shall_v labour_v to_o be_v fill_v with_o the_o spirit_n to_o be_v load_v with_o the_o fruit_n of_o righteousness_n this_o the_o lord_n call_v for_o true_o it_o be_v a_o dangerous_a voyage_n that_o you_o make_v and_o therefore_o you_o have_v need_n be_v load_v with_o rich_a commodity_n you_o have_v need_n seek_v after_o much_o of_o that_o durable_a riches_n that_o abide_v for_o ever_o the_o lord_n do_v not_o love_n that_o the_o ship_n shall_v come_v home_o empty_a o_o that_o you_o that_o fear_v the_o lord_n will_v remember_v that_o you_o have_v but_o once_o to_o pass_v over_o the_o sea_n of_o this_o world_n and_o then_o there_o be_v a_o end_n for_o ever_o and_o therefore_o do_v not_o return_v empty_a but_o o_o go_v and_o beg_v of_o the_o lord_n that_o he_o will_v fill_v you_o with_o the_o fruit_n of_o righteousness_n that_o you_o may_v go_v home_o load_v with_o faith_n and_o righteousness_n so_o shall_v you_o be_v a_o honour_n to_o god_n and_o there_o will_v be_v much_o joy_n in_o heaven_n when_o you_o come_v home_o eight_o 8._o it_o be_v a_o word_n of_o much_o comfort_n to_o those_o that_o fear_v the_o lord_n and_o have_v a_o interest_n in_o christ_n know_v though_o you_o be_v at_o sea_n and_o meet_v with_o many_o storm_n yet_o you_o need_v not_o fear_n you_o have_v a_o anchor_n that_o will_v hold_v it_o be_v cast_v upon_o a_o sure_a ground_n your_o anchor_n it_o be_v enter_v it_o be_v fasten_v upon_o the_o father_n free_a grace_n and_o the_o son_n be_v everlasting_a righteousness_n which_o be_v sure_a and_o steadfast_a and_o if_o so_o do_v not_o fear_v though_o storm_n arise_v it_o shall_v go_v well_o with_o you_o for_o christ_n be_v the_o owner_n of_o the_o ship_n and_o he_o will_v go_v master_n in_o the_o ship_n and_o so_o long_o as_o the_o presence_n of_o christ_n be_v with_o you_o you_o may_v be_v comfort_v whatever_o you_o meet_v with_o if_o christ_n be_v in_o the_o ship_n he_o will_v rebuke_v the_o wind_n and_o the_o wave_n yea_o he_o will_v tread_v upon_o the_o proud_a boisterous_a wave_n that_o his_o people_n meet_v with_o yea_o and_o he_o will_v make_v his_o people_n also_o to_o tread_v upon_o they_o too_o and_o therefore_o fear_v not_o for_o christ_n be_v the_o master_n of_o the_o ship_n he_o be_v with_o you_o the_o load_v also_o be_v christ_n and_o as_o i_o say_v before_o you_o need_v not_o fear_v be_v sure_a in_o respect_n of_o the_o event_n of_o it_o the_o event_n and_o issue_n of_o a_o believer_n hope_n be_v always_o sure_a it_o can_v no_o more_o be_v disappoint_v of_o his_o hope_n than_o the_o foundation_n of_o his_o hope_n which_o be_v christ_n can_v be_v overturn_v but_o that_o which_o a_o believe_a soul_n have_v in_o hope_n it_o be_v as_o sure_a as_o if_o he_o have_v it_o in_o hand_n already_o lo_o this_o be_v our_o god_n we_o have_v wait_v for_o he_o and_o he_o will_v save_v we_o say_v the_o church_n the_o doctrine_n than_o be_v this_o that_o the_o believe_v soul_n have_v hope_n for_o a_o sure_a and_o steadfast_a anchor_n 2._o or_o thus_o this_o grace_n of_o hope_n it_o be_v a_o sure_a and_o steadfast_a anchor_n to_o every_o believe_a heart_n it_o be_v plain_a in_o the_o text_n which_o hope_v we_o have_v as_o a_o anchor_n both_o sure_a and_o steadfast_a in_o the_o handle_n of_o this_o point_n i_o shall_v show_v you_o first_o what_o this_o hope_n be_v second_o application_n first_o of_o all_o our_o work_n be_v to_o inquire_v what_o this_o hope_n be_v you_o may_v take_v this_o description_n of_o it_o it_o be_v the_o work_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n upon_o the_o heart_n whereby_o it_o be_v raise_v in_o expectation_n of_o those_o good_a thing_n that_o faith_n believe_v and_o which_o god_n have_v promise_v we_o shall_v open_v the_o part_n of_o it_o that_o we_o may_v come_v to_o know_v what_o this_o save_a hope_n be_v that_o be_v the_o anchor_n of_o a_o believe_a soul_n and_o first_o of_o all_o you_o have_v the_o efficient_a cause_n of_o this_o hope_n god_n and_o that_o be_v the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n it_o be_v not_o all_o the_o world_n that_o can_v raise_v a_o poor_a deject_a heart_n to_o hope_v in_o god_n it_o be_v not_o all_o the_o comfort_n of_o the_o world_n nor_o comforter_n in_o the_o world_n that_o can_v make_v any_o poor_a droop_a heart_n to_o cast_v this_o anchor_n of_o hope_n in_o heaven_n and_o therefore_o when_o the_o apostle_n do_v describe_v the_o condition_n of_o natural_a man_n he_o say_v of_o they_o that_o they_o be_v without_o god_n without_o christ_n and_o without_o hope_n this_o be_v the_o state_n of_o every_o man_n by_o nature_n he_o have_v not_o the_o least_o dram_n of_o save_a hope_n till_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n comeâ—_n to_o work_v upon_o the_o heart_n and_o therefore_o god_n be_v call_v the_o god_n of_o hope_n rom._n 15._o 13._o now_o the_o god_n of_o hope_n fill_v you_o with_o all_o joy_n and_o peace_n in_o believe_v that_o you_o may_v abound_v in_o hope_n through_o the_o power_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n here_o you_o see_v the_o efficient_a cause_n it_o be_v the_o work_n of_o god_n to_o raise_v up_o the_o heart_n to_o hope_v in_o himself_o and_o it_o be_v the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n that_o must_v cause_v the_o soul_n to_o abound_v in_o hope_n that_o you_o may_v abound_v in_o hope_n through_o the_o power_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o in_o psal_n 22._o speak_v there_o in_o the_o person_n of_o christ_n he_o confess_v that_o it_o be_v his_o father_n that_o do_v cause_v he_o to_o hope_n psal_n 22._o 9_o but_o thou_o be_v he_o that_o take_v i_o out_o of_o the_o womb_n thou_o do_v make_v i_o hope_v when_o i_o be_v upon_o my_o mother_n breast_n it_o be_v thou_o lord_n that_o do_v cause_v i_o to_o hope_v god_n only_o be_v the_o efficient_a cause_n second_o hope_n expectation_n three_o a_o confident_a expectation_n all_o which_o do_v express_v the_o nature_n of_o save_a hope_n first_o of_o all_o it_o be_v a_o patient_a expectation_n it_o cause_v the_o soul_n to_o wait_v patient_o for_o the_o fulfil_n of_o the_o promise_n to_o sit_v down_o at_o the_o foot_n of_o christ_n and_o wait_v even_o all_o its_o day_n for_o the_o fulfil_n of_o the_o promise_n and_o therefore_o say_v the_o apostle_n heb._n 10._o 36._o for_o you_o have_v need_n of_o patience_n that_o after_o you_o have_v do_v the_o will_n of_o god_n you_o may_v inherit_v the_o promise_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v your_o hope_n will_v not_o hold_v out_o if_o you_o have_v not_o patience_n god_n have_v give_v you_o a_o promise_n but_o god_n do_v not_o present_o fulfil_v the_o promise_n and_o of_o hope_n and_o that_o be_v faith_n it_o be_v a_o expectation_n of_o those_o good_a thing_n which_o faith_n believe_v that_o god_n have_v promise_v so_o you_o see_v how_o hope_n stand_v towards_o faith_n they_o be_v twin_n as_o it_o be_v they_o be_v bear_v and_o bring_v forth_o together_o faith_n be_v the_o elder_a sister_n faith_n believe_v that_o the_o promise_n be_v true_a and_o hope_v look_n for_o the_o fulfil_n of_o the_o promise_n because_o faith_n believe_v it_o they_o grow_v up_o together_o they_o be_v nourish_v together_o and_o they_o flourish_v
