the_o world_n shall_v conspire_v to_o effectuate_v it_o doct._n 1._o the_o promise_n of_o god_n concern_v the_o welfare_n of_o his_o church_n be_v neither_o easy_o take_v up_o in_o their_o fullness_n nor_o believe_v and_o therefore_o be_v to_o be_v study_v over_o and_o over_o again_o so_o much_o do_v this_o repetition_n of_o the_o promise_n teach_v we_o 2._o the_o church_n be_v look_v on_o by_o enemy_n in_o the_o world_n as_o a_o troublesome_a neighbour_n who_o they_o will_v glad_o remove_v and_o be_v rid_v of_o and_o they_o will_v not_o spare_v to_o prove_v their_o utmost_a strength_n nor_o care_n to_o take_v on_o heavy_a burden_n so_o it_o may_v effectuate_v their_o purpose_n for_o jerusalem_n be_v a_o stone_n for_o all_o people_n which_o they_o will_v have_v unfixed_a and_o remove_v and_o will_v burden_v themselves_o for_o that_o end_n 3._o the_o church_n be_v so_o establish_v by_o divine_a power_n and_o by_o virtue_n of_o christ_n charter_n and_o the_o indignation_n of_o god_n against_o all_o such_o as_o seek_v to_o molest_v she_o be_v so_o heavy_a and_o insupportable_a that_o all_o who_o essay_n to_o shake_v she_o come_v to_o seek_v and_o do_v find_v their_o own_o ruin_n while_o as_o she_o remain_v establish_v for_o god_n will_v make_v jerusalem_n a_o burdensome_a stone_n for_o all_o people_n all_o that_o burden_n themselves_o with_o it_o shall_v be_v cut_v in_o piece_n 4._o as_o it_o be_v the_o church_n lot_n to_o find_v few_o friend_n in_o the_o world_n of_o any_o society_n so_o the_o multitude_n and_o strength_n of_o opposer_n can_v contribute_v nothing_o for_o carry_v on_o the_o design_n of_o ruine_v the_o church_n all_o the_o world_n will_v effectuate_v as_o little_a and_o be_v as_o unable_a to_o resist_v the_o deserve_a vengeance_n as_o the_o â—â—eanest_a man_n in_o it_o for_o god_n will_v do_v this_o though_o all_o the_o people_n of_o the_o
will_v be_v see_v by_o she_o that_o she_o may_v be_v stir_v up_o to_o her_o duty_n so_o the_o best_a sight_n of_o they_o and_o expound_v of_o their_o way_n be_v have_v from_o god_n whereby_o she_o will_v see_v they_o to_o be_v under_o a_o overrule_a providence_n and_o that_o god_n take_v notice_n of_o every_o circumstance_n of_o her_o trouble_n therefore_o the_o prophet_n be_v make_v to_o see_v these_o horn_n and_o albeit_o their_o trouble_n from_o enemy_n be_v a_o know_a thing_n yet_o the_o lord_n will_v discover_v it_o in_o vision_n and_o expound_v it_o himself_o upon_o the_o prophet_n question_n to_o show_v that_o god_n know_v and_o have_v a_o hand_n in_o what_o they_o do_v 3._o albeit_o the_o lord_n take_v notice_n of_o all_o the_o cruelty_n exercise_v upon_o his_o church_n yet_o in_o a_o special_a manneâ—_n he_o resent_v the_o enemy_n design_n to_o cut_v the_o face_n of_o a_o church_n from_o off_o the_o earth_n for_o they_o scatter_a judah_n etc._n etc._n as_o beast_n toss_v what_o they_o get_v upon_o their_o horn_n into_o the_o wind_n and_o for_o this_o cause_n it_o be_v that_o the_o scatter_n of_o jerusalem_n where_o the_o temple_n stand_v be_v consider_v by_o itself_o though_o it_o be_v a_o part_n of_o judah_n 4._o albeit_o the_o lord_n do_v not_o alike_o soon_o deliver_v all_o his_o afflict_a yea_o albeit_o these_o who_o be_v last_o afflict_v be_v first_o deliver_v yet_o the_o suffering_n of_o all_o be_v in_o his_o heart_n and_o not_o forget_v in_o their_o trouble_n and_o present_a sufferer_n have_v the_o advantage_n of_o all_o the_o church_n former_a trouble_n who_o wound_n do_v all_o bleed_v on_o every_o new_a stroke_n therefore_o albeit_o judah_n get_v the_o present_a comfort_n of_o this_o vision_n as_o appear_v v._o 21._o yet_o the_o prophet_n be_v make_v to_o see_v that_o the_o horn_n have_v scatter_v judah_n israel_n and_o jerusalem_n not_o only_o because_o some_o israelite_n have_v cleaved_a unto_o judah_n since_o the_o rent_v of_o the_o ten_o tribe_n from_o the_o house_n of_o david_n but_o to_o show_v that_o israel_n trouble_n be_v lay_v up_o in_o his_o heart_n to_o be_v forthcoming_a for_o their_o good_a in_o due_a time_n and_o that_o judah_n have_v this_o advantage_n against_o her_o enemy_n that_o israel_n have_v suffer_v by_o they_o also_o 5._o such_o as_o have_v open_v eye_n may_v discern_v as_o much_o for_o the_o encouragement_n of_o the_o church_n as_o can_v be_v see_v against_o she_o that_o god_n be_v powerful_a to_o crush_v all_o her_o enemy_n and_o have_v as_o many_o effectual_a mean_n for_o that_o end_n on_o all_o quarter_n as_o they_o have_v power_n and_o confederate_n for_o the_o prophet_n be_v make_v to_o see_v four_o carpenter_n in_o opposition_n to_o the_o four_o horn_n 6._o however_o difficulty_n and_o enemy_n may_v easy_o be_v see_v yet_o help_v against_o they_o can_v be_v show_v by_o god_n only_o for_o whereas_o it_o be_v say_v of_o the_o horn_n that_o the_o prophet_n see_v they_o it_o be_v say_v of_o their_o help_n express_o the_o lord_n show_v i_o four_o carpenter_n 7._o christ_n the_o king_n priest_n and_o prophet_n of_o his_o church_n be_v very_a god_n equal_a with_o his_o father_n for_o here_o the_o angel_n who_o all_o this_o while_n have_v commune_v with_o and_o inform_v the_o prophet_n in_o vision_n and_o who_o have_v intercede_v for_o the_o church_n be_v jehovah_n the_o lord_n show_v i_o 8._o no_o success_n which_o enemy_n have_v have_v against_o the_o church_n during_o her_o trial_n and_o exercise_n will_v assure_v they_o against_o a_o day_n of_o vengeance_n or_o make_v they_o stand_v before_o the_o fit_v instrument_n thereof_o for_o however_o these_o horn_n have_v scatter_v judah_n so_o that_o no_o man_n do_v lift_v up_o his_o head_n yet_o these_o be_v come_v to_o fray_v they_o and_o cast_v out_o the_o horn_n of_o the_o gentile_n the_o instrument_n of_o vengeance_n will_v easy_o affright_v they_o who_o have_v be_v the_o terror_n of_o the_o world_n and_o will_v cast_v they_o out_o not_o only_o from_o possess_v the_o church_n inheritance_n which_o they_o have_v usurp_v but_o from_o their_o own_o kingdom_n and_o power_n which_o they_o have_v employ_v so_o ill_o 9_o whatever_o other_o wickedness_n persecutor_n of_o the_o church_n may_v be_v guilty_a of_o or_o whatever_o quarrel_n the_o instrument_n of_o their_o ruin_n may_v have_v against_o they_o yet_o the_o lord_n great_a controversy_n which_o fill_v their_o cup_n and_o which_o the_o church_n themselves_o and_o the_o world_n about_o shall_v look_v on_o as_o the_o cause_n of_o their_o ruin_n be_v their_o opposition_n unto_o and_o their_o oppress_v of_o the_o people_n of_o god_n therefore_o be_v it_o the_o three_o time_n set_v down_o in_o this_o vision_n that_o they_o lift_v up_o their_o horn_n over_o the_o land_n of_o judah_n to_o scatter_v it_o chap._n ii_o in_o this_o chapter_n we_o have_v a_o three_o vision_n show_v unto_o the_o prophet_n wherein_o under_o the_o type_n of_o a_o man_n measure_v jerusalem_n v._o 1_o 2._o and_o attend_v with_o angel_n v._o 3._o be_v promise_v the_o future_a enlargement_n of_o jerusalem_n v._o 4._o and_o her_o safety_n v._o 5._o the_o application_n and_o use_n of_o which_o vision_n be_v hold_v forth_o in_o a_o threefold_a exhortation_n 1._o to_o the_o jew_n who_o remain_v at_o babylon_n that_o they_o will_v return_v to_o their_o land_n v._o 6_o 7._o in_o regard_n that_o christ_n be_v out_o of_o his_o love_n to_o they_o to_o reckon_v with_o their_o enemy_n which_o he_o will_v easy_o effectuate_v to_o their_o satisfaction_n and_o confirmation_n v._o 8_o 9_o 2._o to_o the_o jew_n who_o be_v return_v that_o they_o will_v rejoice_v because_o of_o his_o presence_n among_o they_o v._o 10._o because_o of_o the_o accession_n that_o shall_v be_v of_o many_o nation_n to_o the_o church_n v._o 11._o and_o because_o the_o lord_n will_v yet_o confirm_v their_o election_n to_o be_v his_o choose_a people_n in_o their_o own_o land_n v._o 12._o 3._o to_o all_o misbeliever_n of_o the_o promise_n and_o opposer_n of_o his_o church_n that_o they_o shall_v stand_v in_o awe_n and_o compesce_fw-la their_o faint_a or_o fury_n v._o 13._o ver._n 1._o i_o lift_v up_o my_o eye_n again_o and_o look_v and_o behold_v a_o man_n with_o a_o measure_n line_n in_o his_o hand_n 2._o then_o say_v i_o whither_o go_v thou_o and_o he_o say_v unto_o i_o to_o measure_n jerusalem_n to_o see_v what_o be_v the_o breadth_n thereof_o and_o what_o be_v the_o length_n thereof_o 3._o and_o behold_v the_o angel_n that_o beyond_o what_o be_v under_o the_o old_a testament_n this_o be_v represent_v unto_o the_o prophet_n under_o the_o type_n of_o christ_n as_o a_o man_n with_o a_o measure_n line_n declare_v unto_o the_o prophet_n his_o purpose_n to_o build_v and_o set_v bound_n to_o his_o own_o church_n and_o who_o be_v attend_v by_o angel_n send_v one_o of_o they_o to_o the_o prophet_n with_o this_o message_n to_o be_v communicate_v unto_o the_o church_n for_o to_o encourage_v they_o to_o go_v on_o in_o the_o work_n and_o to_o invite_v the_o scatter_a jew_n to_o come_v home_o and_o join_v with_o their_o brethren_n doct._n 1._o such_o as_o will_v see_v the_o true_a case_n and_o condition_n of_o the_o church_n have_v need_n of_o elevate_a and_o spiritual_a mind_n enlighten_v by_o god_n for_o zechariah_n lift_v up_o his_o eye_n and_o look_v be_v enlighten_v of_o god_n in_o this_o vision_n and_o see_v the_o church_n case_n far_o otherwise_o then_o the_o case_n of_o the_o city_n look_v on_o by_o a_o natural_a eye_n at_o that_o time_n can_v promise_v 2._o these_o who_o see_v jerusalem_n and_o the_o church_n well_o will_v see_v christ_n still_o employ_v about_o she_o and_o careful_a of_o her_o well-being_n and_o that_o her_o prosperity_n be_v the_o great_a business_n of_o heaven_n about_o which_o christ_n and_o angel_n be_v busy_a and_o of_o this_o christ_n will_v have_v his_o church_n assure_v for_o here_o he_o look_v again_o after_o the_o former_a vision_n wherein_o
he_o have_v see_v christ_n and_o behold_v a_o man_n with_o a_o measure_n line_n etc._n etc._n to_o wit_n christ_n himself_o in_o humane_a shape_n who_o be_v busy_a measure_v the_o city_n go_v forth_o to_o it_o and_o make_v to_o work_v and_o another_o angel_n one_o of_o many_o attend_v he_o go_v out_o to_o meet_v he_o in_o this_o work_n and_o command_n be_v give_v that_o the_o church_n know_v this_o run_z speak_v etc._n etc._n that_o this_o man_n be_v christ_n appear_v in_o that_o it_o be_v he_o who_o have_v command_v of_o angel_n v._o 3_o 4._o for_o he_o who_o speak_v to_o the_o prophet_n v._o 2._o be_v the_o angel_n that_o talk_v with_o he_o v._o 3._o 3_o it_o be_v the_o duty_n of_o all_o the_o lord_n people_n and_o particular_o his_o commission-servant_n to_o be_v humble_o and_o careful_o diligent_a to_o search_v out_o the_o lord_n mind_n in_o his_o act_n and_o providence_n and_o for_o that_o end_n as_o to_o search_v into_o his_o word_n so_o to_o present_v many_o suit_n unto_o himself_o for_o here_o the_o prophet_n see_v christ_n at_o work_n desire_v to_o be_v inform_v then_o say_v i_o whither_o go_v thou_o 4._o christ_n have_v the_o bound_n of_o his_o church_n at_o his_o disposal_n and_o measure_n he_o have_v abound_v charter_n grant_v by_o the_o father_n which_o no_o opposition_n shall_v be_v able_a to_o retrinch_n for_o he_o alone_o have_v the_o measure_n line_n v._o 1._o he_o can_v design_n the_o length_n and_o breadth_n of_o jerusalem_n v._o 2._o and_o can_v irrevocable_o declare_v the_o enlargement_n thereof_o v_o 4._o 5._o as_o the_o lord_n can_v easy_o enlarge_v his_o church_n from_o a_o small_a beginning_n so_o it_o be_v his_o purpose_n under_o the_o new_a testament_n not_o only_o to_o extend_v the_o pale_a of_o his_o church_n further_o than_o to_o the_o nation_n of_o the_o jew_n but_o still_o to_o enlarge_v and_o make_v his_o kingdom_n come_v from_o nation_n to_o nation_n till_o all_o israel_n be_v save_v and_o the_o fullness_n of_o the_o gentile_n come_v in_o and_o the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o earth_n become_v the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o lord_n etc._n etc._n for_o here_o in_o the_o letter_n jerusalem_n now_o small_a shall_v be_v inhabit_v as_o cowne_v without_o wall_n for_o the_o multitude_n of_o man_n and_o cattle_n therein_o and_o by_o this_o type_n the_o enlargement_n of_o the_o gospel-church_n be_v hold_v forth_o which_o we_o be_v still_o command_v to_o pray_v for_o 6._o as_o the_o lord_n may_v employ_v who_o he_o please_v even_o young_a man_n and_o make_v they_o fit_a and_o able_a for_o his_o work_n so_o whosoever_o be_v employ_v by_o he_o aught_o to_o be_v nimble_a and_o active_a in_o go_v about_o his_o direction_n in_o their_o office_n and_o to_o be_v abase_v in_o their_o own_o eye_n before_o he_o who_o employ_v they_o for_o here_o the_o prophet_n be_v call_v this_o young_a man_n either_o in_o respect_n of_o his_o age_n or_o because_o he_o ought_v to_o be_v nimble_a in_o his_o office_n as_o a_o boy_n they_o be_v encompass_v with_o a_o wall_n of_o fire_n as_o israel_n be_v when_o the_o pillar_n of_o fire_n stand_v betwixt_o they_o and_o the_o egyptian_n ex._n 14._o as_o elisha_n in_o dothan_n 2_o king_n 6.17_o or_o as_o traveller_n in_o the_o wilderness_n keep_v off_o lion_n and_o wild_a beast_n by_o build_v fire_n round_o about_o they_o and_o that_o they_o shall_v have_v the_o comfort_n of_o his_o glorious_a presence_n dwell_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o they_o make_v they_o glorious_a and_o assure_v they_o of_o protection_n doct._n 1._o one_o promise_n of_o christ_n and_o proof_n of_o his_o love_n will_v still_o call_v for_o another_o to_o make_v that_o sure_a and_o so_o on_o till_o the_o church_n get_v performance_n once_o for_o all_o therefore_o the_o former_a promise_n of_o enlargement_n call_v for_o this_o new_a one_o of_o protection_n and_o get_v it_o 2._o when_o the_o lord_n see_v it_o fit_a to_o exempt_v his_o people_n from_o trouble_n he_o can_v in_o most_o unsafe_a time_n and_o when_o they_o be_v weak_a safe_o protect_v they_o by_o bridle_a enemy_n by_o his_o secret_a hand_n by_o make_v the_o church_n find_v favour_n in_o their_o eye_n or_o make_v their_o attempt_n as_o ineffectual_a as_o if_o they_o will_v essay_n to_o go_v through_o a_o fire_n and_o even_o when_o his_o church_n taste_v of_o trouble_n yet_o she_o be_v not_o seclude_v from_o his_o protection_n nor_o expose_v to_o the_o will_n of_o enemy_n and_o what_o they_o do_v against_o she_o shall_v be_v as_o prejudicial_a to_o they_o as_o if_o they_o have_v go_v through_o a_o burn_a fire_n i_o say_v the_o lord_n will_v be_v unto_o she_o a_o wall_n of_o fire_n round_o about_o do_v import_v all_o this_o 3._o as_o the_o lord_n presence_n with_o and_o among_o a_o people_n be_v their_o great_a glory_n and_o make_v they_o glorious_a so_o it_o be_v a_o pledge_n of_o their_o protection_n that_o he_o will_v secure_v his_o own_o habitation_n and_o put_v a_o defence_n on_o his_o own_o glory_n whatever_o they_o be_v for_o where_o he_o be_v a_o wall_n of_o fire_n there_o he_o be_v the_o glory_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o she_o and_o therefore_o a_o wall_n verse_n 6._o ho_o ho_o come_v forth_o and_o flee_v from_o the_o land_n of_o the_o north_n say_v the_o lord_n for_o i_o have_v spread_v you_o abroad_o as_o the_o four_o wind_n of_o the_o heaven_n say_v the_o lord_n 7._o deliver_v thyself_o o_o zion_n that_o dwell_v with_o the_o daughter_n of_o babylon_n this_o doctrine_n concern_v jerusalem_n enlargement_n and_o safety_n be_v by_o christ_n apply_v to_o several_a sort_n of_o person_n for_o use_n in_o a_o threefold_a exhortation_n 1._o to_o the_o jew_n who_o have_v in_o seventy_o year_n time_n forget_v their_o own_o country_n many_o of_o they_o also_o be_v bear_v in_o come_v away_o these_o be_v again_o and_o again_o exhort_v with_o all_o speed_n on_o all_o hazard_n to_o return_v and_o help_v to_o build_v the_o city_n and_o dwell_v in_o it_o that_o so_o that_o people_n may_v be_v conspicuous_a till_o christ_n shall_v come_v who_o will_v enlarge_v his_o chureh_n and_o that_o they_o may_v share_v with_o the_o rest_n in_o these_o promise_n in_o this_o exhortation_n two_o reason_n be_v couch_v 1._o that_o their_o scatter_n into_o babel_n and_o into_o all_o other_o corner_n of_o which_o see_v ezek._n 5.12_o jer._n 4.11_o be_v a_o judgement_n and_o therefore_o not_o to_o be_v sâ—te_n under_o especial_o now_o when_o god_n in_o pity_n to_o they_o be_v restore_v they_o 2._o that_o be_v zion_n it_o be_v not_o seemly_a to_o see_v they_o in_o babylon_n when_o they_o may_v be_v at_o jerusalem_n doct._n 1._o it_o may_v encourage_v every_o one_o in_o their_o station_n to_o put_v their_o hand_n to_o help_v forward_o christ_n work_n and_o to_o to_o come_v and_o join_v with_o she_o for_o the_o scope_n and_o drift_n of_o the_o precede_a vision_n be_v declare_v to_o be_v the_o encouragement_n of_o the_o jew_n to_o go_v on_o in_o the_o work_n and_o a_o invitation_n of_o their_o brethren_n to_o leave_v all_o and_o come_v unto_o they_o 2._o the_o worst_a and_o bitter_a of_o condition_n may_v in_o process_n of_o time_n be_v sit_v down_o under_o by_o unsensible_a soul_n with_o stupidity_n and_o such_o a_o outgate_n make_v of_o they_o as_o they_o will_v be_v quit_v hope_n of_o better_a for_o these_o people_n who_o can_v not_o think_v of_o go_v to_o babel_n have_v now_o settle_v themselves_o in_o it_o as_o their_o home_n and_o need_v call_v upon_o call_v to_o come_v out_o of_o it_o ho_o ho_o flee_v deliver_v thyself_o 3._o it_o be_v a_o usual_a sin_n in_o man_n through_o negligence_n love_v of_o the_o world_n prejudice_n at_o the_o way_n of_o god_n and_o unwillingness_n to_o embark_v in_o difficulty_n to_o neglect_v
if_o that_o may_v help_v to_o gain_v their_o point_n for_o with_o the_o former_a be_v join_v every_o one_o that_o swear_v which_o be_v expound_v v._o 4._o to_o be_v swear_v false_o by_o god_n name_n verse_n 4._o i_o will_v bring_v it_o forth_o say_v the_o lord_n of_o host_n and_o it_o shall_v enter_v into_o the_o honse_n of_o the_o thief_n and_o into_o the_o house_n of_o he_o that_o swear_v false_o by_o my_o name_n and_o it_o shall_v remain_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o his_o house_n and_o shall_v consume_v it_o with_o the_o timber_n thereof_o and_o the_o stone_n thereof_o the_o punishment_n judgement_n upon_o themselves_o but_o do_v also_o provoke_v god_n to_o ruin_v their_o house_n and_o family_n thereby_o that_o they_o may_v be_v monument_n of_o his_o severity_n and_o warning_n to_o all_o other_o for_o it_o shall_v abide_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o house_n and_o shall_v consume_v it_o with_o the_o timber_n thereof_o and_o the_o stone_n thereof_o 4._o the_o lord_n need_v not_o make_v use_n of_o violent_a remedy_n to_o take_v order_n with_o impenitent_a sinner_n and_o their_o family_n but_o can_v by_o his_o curse_n and_o removal_n of_o his_o blessing_n from_o what_o they_o have_v make_v it_o insensible_o melt_v away_o so_o that_o they_o shall_v be_v ruin_v and_o themselves_o can_v well_o tell_v how_o for_o so_o much_o be_v impâ—â—â—ted_v in_o the_o expression_n the_o curse_n shall_v consume_v the_o house_n with_o the_o timber_n and_o stone_n or_o be_v as_o a_o moth_n in_o it_o to_o waste_v it_o away_o verse_n 5._o then_o the_o angel_n that_o talk_v with_o i_o go_v decline_v from_o god_n the_o sin_n of_o every_o particular_a rank_n &_o person_n in_o it_o add_v to_o the_o provocation_n and_o contribute_v to_o increase_v the_o flame_n and_o hasten_v the_o judgement_n for_o the_o ephah_n be_v their_o resemblance_n in_o all_o the_o land_n every_o one_o in_o the_o land_n contribute_v to_o fill_v it_o up_o and_o however_o the_o sin_n of_o every_o one_o apart_o may_v seem_v little_a yet_o be_v put_v together_o in_o the_o measure_n they_o will_v amount_v to_o much_o 4._o albeit_o god_n be_v not_o always_o smite_v for_o sin_n yet_o he_o be_v not_o asleep_a but_o careful_o observe_v how_o man_n fill_v up_o the_o measure_n who_o they_o be_v that_o contribute_v most_o to_o that_o effect_n that_o they_o may_v drink_v the_o deep_a of_o the_o cup_n
