vex_v or_o proud_o deride_v and_o contemn_v the_o godly_a as_o the_o last_o verse_n do_v declare_v and_o these_o be_v not_o only_o such_o as_o prefer_v wicked_a doctrine_n superstition_n &_o idolatry_n before_o the_o undefiled_a word_n of_o god_n but_o even_o such_o also_o as_o glory_v in_o the_o word_n and_o sound_a doctrine_n and_o will_v be_v count_v lover_n &_o favourer_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o partaker_n with_o we_o of_o the_o name_n and_o glory_n of_o christ_n of_o such_o there_o be_v a_o great_a number_n amongst_o the_o people_n of_o israel_n for_o they_o have_v the_o law_n sacrifice_n and_o ceremony_n institute_v by_o moses_n according_a to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n they_o have_v great_a plenty_n of_o prophet_n and_o godly_a teacher_n yet_o how_o they_o use_v they_o ghost_n in_o this_o psalm_n do_v teach_v they_o how_o to_o pray_v in_o these_o distress_n they_o shall_v be_v hear_v and_o though_o they_o be_v here_o contemn_v and_o count_v the_o outsweping_n of_o complain_v be_v herein_o express_v in_o that_o he_o look_v about_o on_o every_o side_n and_o seek_v for_o succour_n can_v find_v none_o to_o help_v he_o but_o only_o the_o inhabior_n of_o heaven_n be_v great_a and_o mighty_a yet_o god_n be_v more_o mighty_a this_o be_v the_o meaning_n of_o the_o prophet_n in_o this_o verse_n and_o albeit_o the_o word_n be_v but_o simple_a as_o you_o see_v yet_o be_v they_o full_a of_o consolation_n to_o he_o that_o believe_v the_o spirit_n which_o minister_v these_o word_n and_o stir_v up_o these_o groan_n in_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o afflict_a know_v house_n top_n by_o little_a and_o little_o wither_v away_o through_o the_o heat_n of_o the_o sun_n so_o tyrant_n upon_o small_a occasion_n do_v perish_v and_o soon_o vanish_v away_o the_o faithful_a therefore_o in_o suffering_n do_v prevail_v and_o overcome_v but_o the_o wicked_a in_o do_v be_v overthrow_v and_o miserable_o perish_v as_o all_o the_o history_n of_o all_o time_n and_o age_n do_v counterfeit_a show_n that_o they_o be_v the_o church_n they_o hold_v and_o enjoy_v dignity_n prebend_n benefice_n as_o grass_n have_v his_o stalk_n and_o â—are_v but_o in_o deed_n they_o be_v none_o of_o the_o church_n like_v as_o grass_n be_v no_o corn_n for_o it_o wither_v away_o before_o it_o can_v bring_v forth_o fruit_n for_o this_o be_v the_o chief_a argument_n wherewith_o they_o fight_v against_o we_o that_o for_o this_o glorious_a show_n whereof_o i_o speak_v they_o usurp_v and_o challenge_v to_o themselves_o the_o title_n of_o the_o church_n but_o we_o be_v command_v to_o take_v heed_n that_o we_o be_v not_o deceive_v by_o outward_a show_n yea_o and_o we_o be_v admonish_v also_o that_o such_o show_n be_v often_o time_n occasion_n of_o great_a calamity_n beware_v say_v our_o saviour_n christ_n of_o false_a prophet_n which_o come_v to_o you_o in_o sheep_n clothing_n also_o by_o their_o fruit_n you_o shall_v know_v they_o whereas_o then_o they_o challenge_v unto_o they_o exercise_v against_o the_o true_a church_n they_o retain_v not_o so_o much_o as_o the_o outward_a show_n which_o they_o pretend_v wherefore_o since_o there_o be_v nothing_o to_o be_v find_v in_o our_o adversary_n but_o a_o naked_a and_o a_o hypocritical_a show_n and_o the_o same_o also_o miserable_o and_o many_o way_n deform_v and_o deface_v since_o i_o say_v there_o be_v nothing_o else_o in_o they_o but_o mere_a hypocrisy_n we_o judge_v &_o denounce_v they_o not_o to_o be_v the_o church_n of_o christ_n but_o of_o satan_n wherefore_o they_o be_v prepare_v as_o chaff_n and_o stubble_n to_o the_o fire_n although_o under_o a_o show_n and_o colour_n of_o the_o church_n they_o afflict_v and_o persecute_v we_o never_o so_o much_o verse_n 8._o neither_o they_o which_o go_v by_o say_v we_o bless_v you_o in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n this_o also_o commend_v and_o set_v forth_o unto_o we_o the_o similitude_n of_o the_o grass_n for_o true_a corn_n have_v this_o commendation_n that_o it_o be_v the_o blessing_n of_o god_n they_o therefore_o which_o see_v it_o grow_v do_v wish_v that_o god_n will_v bless_v and_o prosper_v it_o this_o say_v david_n shall_v not_o become_v as_o it_o be_v invisible_a and_o by_o faith_n in_o poverty_n to_o behold_v riches_n in_o heaviness_n and_o sorrow_n joy_n and_o comfort_n in_o desolation_n and_o destruction_n help_v and_o succour_n and_o when_o we_o seem_v to_o be_v cut_v of_o and_o to_o be_v cast_v away_o from_o god_n even_o then_o to_o believe_v and_o by_o faith_n to_o lay_v sure_a handfast_a on_o god_n eternal_a mercy_n and_o grace_n in_o christ_n as_o david_n here_o do_v who_o be_v afflict_v and_o feel_v no_o comfort_n and_o yet_o he_o say_v i_o lift_v up_o my_o eye_n to_o the_o hill_n from_o whence_o come_v of_o god_n there_o present_a they_o can_v not_o see_v nor_o that_o the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v there_o that_o the_o lord_n have_v promise_v there_o to_o dwell_v and_o abide_v that_o he_o have_v put_v a_o memorial_n of_o his_o name_n in_o that_o place_n and_o that_o there_o he_o will_v be_v seek_v there_o he_o will_v be_v find_v for_o he_o that_o seek_v not_o god_n in_o this_o place_n can_v not_o find_v he_o in_o heaven_n like_a as_o since_o god_n have_v reveil_v himself_o in_o that_o man_n christ_n we_o true_o say_v and_o also_o believe_v that_o whosoever_o do_v not_o embrace_v and_o by_o faith_n lie_v hold_v on_o this_o man_n which_o be_v bear_v of_o the_o virgin_n they_o can_v never_o believe_v in_o god_n but_o although_o they_o say_v they_o believe_v in_o the_o maker_n of_o heaven_n and_o earth_n yet_o do_v they_o in_o deed_n believe_v in_o the_o idol_n of_o their_o own_o heart_n for_o without_o christ_n there_o be_v no_o true_a god_n therefore_o david_n behold_v these_o hill_n in_o jerusalem_n not_o with_o bodily_a eye_n as_o the_o ox_n do_v his_o stall_n but_o with_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o spirit_n he_o see_v that_o god_n dwell_v there_o by_o his_o word_n therefore_o these_o hill_n be_v now_o no_o more_o earth_n and_o mould_n but_o they_o be_v the_o hill_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o the_o fullness_n of_o his_o godhead_n so_o that_o with_o out_o these_o hill_n concern_v god_n there_o can_v nothing_o be_v find_v therefore_o it_o be_v true_o say_v of_o the_o prophet_n that_o from_o these_o hill_n come_v help_v and_o succour_n that_o be_v to_o say_v from_o god_n dwell_v and_o abide_v there_o by_o his_o word_n like_a as_o we_o believe_v that_o christ_n be_v the_o throne_n of_o grace_n in_o the_o which_o be_v the_o treasure_n of_o all_o good_a thing_n and_o heavenly_a blessing_n to_o be_v find_v and_o without_o the_o which_o there_o be_v nothing_o now_o in_o that_o he_o do_v not_o only_o say_v my_o help_n come_v from_o the_o lord_n but_o add_v moreover_o which_o make_v heaven_n &_o earth_n he_o reprove_v &_o condemn_v all_o other_o help_n which_o man_n seek_v &_o procure_v unto_o themselves_o beside_o god_n with_o false_a trust_n &_o not_o help_v what_o can_v he_o do_v when_o the_o conscience_n be_v trouble_v with_o sin_n &_o the_o horror_n of_o death_n it_o be_v therefore_o but_o a_o false_a pleasure_n and_o delight_n that_o seek_v after_o the_o prophet_n set_v the_o lord_n himself_o who_o make_v not_o only_a gold_n &_o silver_n not_o only_a food_n &_o sustenance_n heaven_n and_o earth_n that_o be_v to_o say_v angel_n man_n and_o the_o whole_a world_n but_o beside_o these_o give_v remission_n of_o sin_n faith_n righteousness_n joy_n &_o peace_n of_o heart_n with_o everlasting_a life_n he_o be_v say_v the_o prophet_n my_o almighty_a and_o sure_a help_n of_o who_o i_o can_v not_o doubt_v that_o he_o will_v ever_o fail_v i_o the_o twinkle_n of_o a_o eye_n to_o this_o lord_n i_o fly_v for_o aid_n &_o affliction_n it_o continual_o suffer_v and_o this_o be_v the_o state_n of_o the_o godly_a upon_o the_o experience_n whereof_o arise_v this_o proverb_n the_o more_o wicked_a the_o more_o happy_a and_o therefore_o the_o world_n fear_v and_o shun_v these_o danger_n can_v never_o abide_v the_o gospel_n and_o thus_o it_o appear_v to_o they_o not_o to_o be_v true_a that_o david_n say_v here_o the_o for_o if_o we_o do_v what_o need_v then_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o word_n what_o need_v exhortation_n what_o need_v the_o promise_n therefore_o we_o must_v turn_v the_o evil_a into_o good_a and_o where_o the_o flesh_n conclude_v that_o it_o be_v continual_o tread_v under_o foot_n there_o faith_n must_v confess_v and_o say_v that_o by_o the_o cross_n and_o by_o these_o affliction_n we_o be_v make_v like_o to_o the_o son_n of_o god_n &_o fashion_v like_o unto_o christ_n for_o these_o thing_n be_v to_o be_v believe_v as_o invisible_a and_o also_o insensible_a and_o not_o as_o thing_n to_o be_v see_v and_o feel_v but_o such_o as_o will_v not_o believe_v but_o follow_v their_o own_o sense_n and_o feel_v do_v rather_o choose_v the_o glory_n &_o pleasure_n of_o this_o world_n which_o so_o little_a while_n endure_v and_o so_o sudden_o vanish_v away_o but_o how_o miserable_a shall_v their_o condition_n be_v when_o after_o these_o transitory_a momentane_z and_o vain_a pleasure_n they_o shall_v find_v and_o feel_v nothing_o but_o anguish_n &_o torment_n with_o weep_v &_o wail_v for_o ever_o &_o without_o end_n how_o much_o better_o have_v it_o be_v for_o they_o to_o have_v suffer_v for_o a_o while_n with_o lazarus_n both_o sickness_n and_o poverty_n then_o for_o a_o little_a season_n to_o flourish_v with_o the_o rich_a glutton_n in_o wealth_n and_o prosperity_n &_o with_o he_o to_o be_v torment_v in_o everlasting_a fire_n this_o doctrine_n therefore_o pertain_v to_o those_o which_o desire_v to_o believe_v &_o not_o to_o feel_v that_o they_o may_v discern_v between_o god_n &_o their_o affliction_n not_o fix_v their_o eye_n upon_o the_o present_a calamity_n but_o look_v up_o to_o the_o invisible_a help_n promise_v in_o the_o word_n for_o those_o trouble_n &_o danger_n where_o unto_o the_o faithful_a be_v subject_a do_v in_o deed_n cause_v the_o foot_n to_o slip_v but_o yet_o so_o that_o faith_n will_v not_o suffer_v they_o to_o fall_v but_o make_v they_o able_a to_o pass_v over_o those_o rock_n be_v they_o never_o so_o dangerous_a &_o to_o compare_v their_o momentane_z affliction_n with_o those_o thing_n which_o be_v infinite_a and_o everlasting_a as_o to_o god_n himself_o his_o power_n his_o grace_n and_o final_o eternal_a life_n which_o god_n have_v promise_v in_o christ_n to_o they_o that_o believe_v in_o he_o to_o know_v these_o thing_n it_o be_v necessary_a that_o we_o may_v be_v able_a to_o comfort_n both_o ourselves_o
call_v grace_n heaven_n itself_o by_o the_o which_o we_o have_v a_o open_a passage_n unto_o heaven_n and_o the_o which_o we_o can_v never_o attain_v unto_o by_o the_o law_n by_o work_n or_o by_o our_o own_o endeavour_n but_o rather_o as_o a_o most_o large_a heaven_n it_o receive_v we_o beleve_v that_o by_o adoption_n we_o be_v make_v righteous_a before_o god_n through_o christ._n hereby_o we_o may_v see_v what_o the_o intent_n and_o purpose_n of_o the_o prophet_n be_v in_o this_o psalm_n namely_o to_o teach_v we_o the_o true_a way_n to_o righteousness_n life_n and_o salvation_n again_o to_o show_v we_o the_o way_n how_o to_o escape_v death_n sin_n and_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n that_o out_o of_o this_o life_n we_o may_v pass_v to_o life_n everlasting_a and_o in_o teach_v of_o these_o thing_n he_o show_v his_o own_o experience_n and_o lay_v open_a unto_o we_o his_o own_o heart_n which_o the_o holy_a ghost_n have_v exercise_v and_o school_v with_o many_o tentation_n that_o so_o he_o may_v attain_v to_o this_o doctrine_n wherein_o he_o go_v about_o here_o to_o enstruct_v we_o also_o the_o sum_n whereof_o be_v that_o he_o rest_v whole_o in_o the_o hope_n of_o god_n mercy_n and_o in_o the_o sure_a trust_n of_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o his_o sin_n but_o these_o thing_n shall_v more_o clear_o appear_v hereafter_o in_o expound_v of_o the_o psalm_n verse_n 1._o out_o of_o the_o depth_n have_v i_o call_v unto_o thou_o oh_o lord_n it_o may_v seem_v that_o the_o prophet_n use_v here_o more_o word_n than_o need_v but_o he_o that_o consider_v well_o the_o cause_n which_o force_v he_o to_o burst_v out_o into_o these_o word_n oppress_v shall_v see_v that_o no_o plenty_n of_o word_n can_v express_v the_o sorrow_n and_o anguish_n of_o his_o woeful_a heart_n nor_o sufficient_o but_o he_o set_v forth_o here_o the_o grief_n of_o a_o vex_a and_o wound_a conscience_n &_o the_o very_a sorrow_n of_o death_n when_o a_o man_n feel_v his_o heart_n as_o it_o be_v oppress_v with_o desperation_n think_v himself_o forsake_v of_o god_n when_o he_o see_v his_o own_o unworthiness_n and_o desert_n accuse_v before_o god_n as_o a_o terrible_a judge_n yea_o when_o it_o seem_v unto_o he_o that_o god_n have_v not_o only_o forsake_v he_o but_o cast_v he_o away_o for_o ever_o hate_v &_o abhor_v he_o for_o his_o sin_n these_o tentation_n be_v much_o more_o terrible_a than_o those_o which_o man_n common_o fall_v into_o for_o they_o be_v not_o without_o danger_n of_o soul_n &_o eternal_a salvation_n therefore_o he_o use_v here_o this_o manner_n of_o speech_n say_v out_o of_o the_o depth_n i_o call_v unto_o thou_o etc_n etc_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v great_a be_v the_o trouble_n wherewith_o i_o be_o oppress_v for_o i_o feel_v my_o own_o sin_n and_o the_o just_a wrath_n of_o god_n upon_o i_o for_o the_o same_o neither_o can_v i_o find_v relief_n or_o comfort_n to_o my_o restless_a &_o afflict_a soul_n against_o the_o malice_n of_o man_n wherewith_o they_o molest_v and_o vex_v we_o there_o be_v remedy_n to_o be_v find_v but_o this_o wound_n be_v uncurable_a except_o the_o lord_n send_v help_v and_o succour_v from_o above_o and_o in_o deed_n such_o trouble_n as_o the_o godly_a be_v common_o exercise_v withal_o as_o the_o loss_n of_o good_n wife_n child_n &_o such_o other_o may_v yet_o be_v overcome_v or_o bear_v with_o patience_n moreover_o in_o those_o which_o be_v count_v inferior_a sin_n as_o the_o offence_n of_o youth_n the_o deject_v &_o break_v hearted_a may_v more_o easy_o be_v raise_v up_o again_o but_o these_o affliction_n seem_v to_o they_o and_o be_v in_o deed_n untollerable_a when_o they_o feel_v themselves_o oppress_v with_o such_o horrible_a and_o hellish_a cogitation_n that_o they_o can_v see_v nothing_o else_o but_o that_o they_o be_v cast_v away_o from_o god_n for_o ever_o they_o therefore_o that_o feel_v such_o bitter_a tentation_n god._n have_v here_o a_o example_n that_o david_n in_o himself_o feel_v and_o have_v experience_n of_o the_o like_a for_o it_o make_v the_o tentation_n much_o more_o grevous_a when_o they_o which_o be_v thus_o afflict_v feel_v that_o as_o to_o they_o it_o seem_v which_o none_o else_o do_v feel_v but_o they_o alone_o we_o must_v learn_v therefore_o that_o even_o the_o godly_a have_v ever_o suffer_v the_o same_o affliction_n and_o have_v be_v beat_v down_o even_o to_o death_n with_o the_o terror_n of_o the_o law_n and_o sin_n as_o we_o may_v see_v here_o by_o the_o example_n of_o david_n cry_v even_o as_o it_o be_v out_o of_o hell_n and_o say_n out_o of_o the_o depth_n do_v i_o cry_v unto_o thou_o oh_o lord_n etc_n etc_n but_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o for_o we_o to_o know_v that_o we_o sustain_v not_o these_o trouble_n and_o tentation_n alone_o but_o we_o must_v also_o learn_v the_o way_n whereby_o such_o as_o have_v suffer_v the_o like_a tentation_n have_v be_v raise_v up_o again_o and_o here_o you_o see_v david_n what_o he_o do_v you_o see_v whither_o he_o fly_v in_o his_o great_a distress_n he_o despair_v not_o but_o cry_v unto_o the_o lord_n as_o one_o yet_o hope_v assure_o to_o find_v relief_n and_o comfort_n rest_v thou_o also_o in_o this_o hope_n and_o do_v as_o he_o do_v david_n be_v not_o tempt_v to_o the_o end_n he_o shall_v despair_v think_v not_o thou_o therefore_o that_o thy_o tentation_n be_v send_v unto_o thou_o that_o thou_o shall_v be_v swallow_v who_o have_v say_v that_o a_o trouble_a spirit_n be_v a_o sacrifice_n unto_o he_o it_o be_v expedient_a also_o to_o have_v some_o faithful_a brother_n at_o hand_n which_o may_v comfort_v we_o in_o these_o bitter_a conflict_n for_o god_n will_v that_o in_o his_o church_n one_o shall_v help_v to_o comfort_v a_o other_o as_o member_n knit_v together_o in_o one_o body_n and_o he_o have_v promise_v that_o when_o two_o be_v gather_v together_o in_o his_o name_n he_o will_v be_v the_o third_o amongst_o they_o and_o doubtless_o nothing_o comfort_v a_o afflict_a conscience_n so_o much_o as_o to_o hear_v some_o godly_a brother_n declare_v out_o of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n that_o such_o terror_n and_o affliction_n be_v send_v of_o god_n not_o to_o destroy_v we_o but_o to_o humble_v we_o thereby_o to_o make_v we_o to_o acknowledge_v the_o great_a mercy_n of_o god_n offer_v unto_o we_o and_o to_o receive_v the_o same_o with_o thankful_a heart_n but_o if_o in_o this_o distress_n we_o be_v destitute_a of_o the_o help_n of_o such_o faithful_a brethren_n we_o must_v then_o do_v as_o davidâ—id_v â—id_z in_o this_o place_n that_o be_v we_o must_v cry_v unto_o the_o lord_n &_o pray_v as_o this_o psalm_n teach_v we_o wherein_o you_o see_v such_o sorrowful_a and_o bitter_a sigh_n as_o lively_o express_v in_o david_n the_o great_a anguish_n of_o spirit_n from_o whence_o flow_v such_o plentiful_a matter_n and_o yet_o nothing_o superfluous_a as_o compel_v he_o not_o only_o to_o say_v that_o out_o of_o the_o deep_a depth_n he_o cry_v and_o call_v unto_o the_o lord_n but_o he_o put_v assail_v we_o as_o poverty_n sickness_n vexation_n of_o mind_n and_o such_o like_a we_o shall_v endure_v these_o tentation_n with_o faith_n &_o hope_n declare_v our_o patience_n towards_o god_n and_o hope_v for_o deliverance_n at_o his_o hand_n in_o his_o good_a time_n like_a as_o paul_n also_o write_v to_o the_o roman_n will_v we_o to_o rejoice_v even_o in_o our_o affliction_n and_o tentation_n for_o if_o god_n do_v not_o love_v we_o satan_n will_v not_o hate_v we_o if_o we_o be_v not_o partaker_n of_o life_n our_o enemy_n will_v not_o persecute_v we_o with_o death_n so_o those_o which_o be_v most_o just_a and_o holy_a because_o they_o hold_v fast_o the_o hope_n of_o the_o remission_n of_o sin_n satan_n tempt_v most_o of_o all_o which_o the_o horror_n of_o sin_n yea_o and_o that_o in_o such_o wise_a as_o some_o time_n the_o take_n of_o one_o little_a cup_n of_o wine_n or_o of_o one_o word_n unadvised_o escape_v he_o make_v such_o a_o sin_n that_o baptism_n and_o all_o other_o gift_n and_o blessing_n which_o we_o possess_v seem_v now_o to_o stand_v we_o in_o no_o effect_n yea_o many_o time_n even_o those_o work_n which_o be_v good_a and_o holy_a he_o reprove_v and_o condemn_v as_o most_o wicked_a that_o he_o may_v bring_v the_o tender_a and_o timorous_a conscience_n into_o heaviness_n all_o these_o thing_n i_o say_v the_o godly_a do_v find_v and_o feel_v but_o if_o we_o shall_v follow_v our_o own_o sense_n and_o feel_n without_o the_o word_n how_o far_o and_o how_o miserable_o shall_v we_o wander_v from_o god_n thus_o satan_n deal_v not_o with_o the_o papist_n but_o go_v a_o contrary_a way_n to_o work_v excuse_v yea_o high_o commend_v in_o they_o most_o horrible_a and_o detestable_a crime_n as_o excellent_a virtue_n contrariwise_o we_o that_o desire_v and_o endeavour_n to_o live_v according_a to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n and_o moreover_o do_v teach_v the_o word_n sincere_o and_o faithful_o do_v often_o time_n suffer_v such_o trouble_n and_o vexation_n of_o conscience_n as_o if_o we_o live_v most_o wicked_o we_o must_v learn_v therefore_o out_o of_o the_o word_n that_o these_o thing_n hâ—ppen_v to_o the_o godly_a and_o must_v be_v overcome_v with_o such_o cogitation_n as_o the_o holy_a ghost_n here_o set_v forth_o teach_v so_o that_o we_o must_v thus_o think_v with_o ourselves_o i_o be_o call_v to_o the_o communion_n and_o partake_n of_o the_o merit_n of_o christ_n and_o be_o baptize_v if_o in_o the_o common_a course_n of_o this_o life_n there_o be_v any_o offence_n by_o i_o commit_v there_o be_v mercy_n with_o the_o lord_n and_o in_o hope_n of_o this_o mercy_n i_o will_v let_v they_o pass_v moreover_o our_o doctrine_n although_o the_o world_n slander_v it_o and_o most_o spiteful_o persecute_v it_o must_v needs_o be_v true_a this_o doctrine_n after_o that_o we_o once_o believe_v in_o christ_n show_v unto_o we_o that_o with_o the_o lord_n there_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o mercy_n for_o god_n can_v not_o otherwise_o do_v but_o love_v we_o and_o bestow_v his_o benefit_n upon_o we_o now_o if_o the_o contrary_n appear_v to_o my_o sense_n and_o feeling_n i_o pass_v not_o neither_o if_o i_o shall_v die_v for_o it_o will_v i_o suffer_v this_o knowledge_n to_o be_v wrest_v from_o i_o but_o i_o steadfast_o believe_v that_o in_o the_o earth_n beneath_o and_o in_o the_o heaven_n above_o there_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o mercy_n thus_o to_o believe_v i_o be_o persuade_v not_o by_o feeling_n or_o by_o my_o own_o experience_n but_o by_o the_o word_n which_o say_v that_o with_o the_o lord_n there_o be_v mercy_n for_o i_o and_o all_o that_o do_v believe_v but_o for_o they_o that_o believe_v not_o there_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o wrath_n i_o will_v therefore_o overcome_v my_o tentation_n with_o the_o word_n and_o will_v write_v this_o promise_n in_o my_o heart_n that_o since_o i_o believe_v in_o jesus_n christ_n &_o doubt_v not_o but_o that_o my_o sin_n be_v pardon_v through_o his_o blood_n i_o shall_v not_o be_v confound_v although_o all_o sense_n reason_n and_o experience_n will_v persuade_v and_o prove_v to_o i_o the_o contrary_n in_o myself_o i_o perceive_v nothing_o vut_o wrath_n in_o the_o devil_n nothing_o but_o hatred_n in_o the_o world_n nothing_o but_o extreme_a fury_n and_o madness_n but_o the_o holy_a ghost_n can_v not_o lie_v which_o will_v i_o to_o trust_v because_o there_o be_v mercy_n with_o the_o lord_n and_o with_o he_o be_v plentiful_a redemption_n redemption_n signify_v deliverance_n redemption_n and_o that_o general_a as_o well_o from_o the_o fault_n as_o from_o the_o punishment_n but_o special_o from_o the_o fault_n this_o redemption_n he_o call_v great_a and_o plentiful_a because_o the_o straitness_n of_o our_o heart_n be_v such_o that_o it_o can_v not_o comprehend_v the_o same_o for_o when_o we_o pray_v we_o so_o pray_v that_o it_o seem_v we_o will_v be_v content_a with_o a_o little_a so_o they_o that_o be_v in_o trouble_n &_o heaviness_n of_o mind_n do_v wish_n for_o the_o comfort_n and_o quietness_n of_o one_o day_n they_o that_o be_v in_o poverty_n will_v be_v glad_a to_o have_v bread_n for_o the_o present_a day_n us._n but_o god_n do_v not_o think_v this_o enough_o for_o he_o give_v above_o all_o that_o we_o can_v either_o conceive_v or_o ask_v and_o most_o true_a it_o be_v that_o we_o do_v not_o know_v how_o or_o what_o to_o ask_v and_o here_o i_o glad_o use_v my_o own_o experience_n for_o what_o and_o how_o much_o have_v he_o give_v unto_o i_o alone_o i_o wish_v no_o more_o but_o that_o the_o horrible_a abuse_n of_o the_o pope_n pardon_n may_v be_v take_v away_o but_o what_o a_o flood_n of_o wonderful_a and_o incomparable_a benefit_n have_v follow_v so_o be_v it_o always_o true_a that_o no_o man_n dare_v ask_v so_o much_o of_o god_n as_o god_n be_v ready_a and_o willing_a to_o give_v the_o cause_n hereof_o be_v the_o straitness_n of_o our_o heart_n the_o slenderness_n of_o our_o hope_n and_o weakness_n of_o our_o faith_n this_o plentiful_a redemption_n then_o above_o all_o measure_n exceed_v all_o our_o petition_n and_o desire_n wherefore_o the_o lord_n have_v give_v we_o all_o a_o form_n how_o we_o shall_v pray_v for_o if_o we_o have_v not_o this_o form_n of_o prayer_n prescribe_v unto_o we_o which_o of_o we_o dare_v be_v bold_a to_o ask_v so_o many_o and_o so_o great_a thing_n we_o be_v now_o believe_v so_o we_o slender_o ask_v but_o our_o father_n in_o heaven_n rain_v plentiful_o upon_o the_o little_a poor_a spark_n of_o our_o prayer_n and_o small_a drop_n of_o our_o faith_n and_o recompense_v his_o delay_n in_o give_v with_o great_a abundance_n for_o although_o we_o must_v still_o wait_v yet_o be_v our_o deliverance_n so_o much_o the_o great_a jacob_n which_o be_v israel_n wait_v for_o the_o lord_n &_o what_o follow_v that_o people_n so_o mighty_o increase_v and_o multiply_v of_o so_o small_a beginning_n afterward_o change_v the_o whole_a world_n and_o if_o abraham_n have_v see_v all_o his_o posterity_n and_o all_o the_o wonderful_a act_n which_o god_n wrought_v amongst_o they_o will_v he_o not_o have_v say_v think_v you_o that_o he_o can_v never_o have_v hope_v or_o once_o have_v think_v that_o this_o shall_v ever_o have_v come_v to_o pass_v true_a it_o be_v that_o abraham_n believe_v the_o promise_n of_o god_n but_o that_o there_o shall_v be_v such_o a_o wonderful_a and_o glorious_a beauty_n of_o his_o posterity_n he_o can_v not_o believe_v because_o of_o the_o straitness_n of_o man_n heart_n so_o the_o church_n after_o christ_n pray_v for_o the_o advance_v of_o god_n kingdom_n and_o after_o this_o prayer_n follow_v the_o ruin_n of_o the_o roman_a kingdom_n which_o before_o seem_v to_o be_v invincible_a we_o likewise_o pray_v at_o this_o day_n for_o deliverance_n the_o day_n of_o the_o lord_n therefore_o shall_v come_v and_o shall_v destroy_v the_o whole_a world_n with_o all_o the_o power_n of_o satan_n &_o hell_n this_o only_a therefore_o let_v we_o endeavour_n that_o we_o may_v continue_v in_o faith_n &_o hope_n then_o shall_v the_o lord_n make_v a_o glorious_a end_n of_o all_o our_o trouble_n for_o god_n will_v not_o forsake_v we_o except_o we_o first_o give_v over_o to_o hope_n and_o

the_o malignity_n and_o malice_n of_o satan_n wherefore_o let_v we_o cast_v away_o all_o hope_n of_o peace_n so_o long_o as_o we_o live_v here_o and_o let_v we_o assure_v ourselves_o that_o if_o this_o day_n we_o overcome_v one_o kind_n of_o tentation_n to_o morrow_n satan_n will_v set_v upon_o we_o again_o with_o a_o other_o and_o here_o behold_v the_o craft_n and_o subtlety_n of_o the_o again_o no_o man_n hide_v a_o light_n under_o a_o bushel_n this_o be_v the_o cause_n that_o the_o word_n be_v in_o our_o mouth_n as_o a_o burn_a coal_n which_o can_v not_o be_v keep_v in_o but_o compel_v we_o to_o open_v our_o mouth_n hereof_o then_o come_v all_o these_o trouble_n because_o they_o take_v away_o the_o commandment_n of_o god_n &_o yet_o will_v have_v we_o to_o hold_v our_o that_o of_o very_a purpose_n man_n be_v cast_v unto_o satan_n and_o eternal_a damnation_n by_o false_a teacher_n and_o minister_n of_o iniquity_n now_o consider_v whether_o it_o be_v not_o better_o with_o trouble_n to_o keep_v and_o enjoy_v the_o word_n of_o god_n then_o with_o loss_n of_o the_o word_n to_o live_v in_o peace_n and_o tranquillity_n though_o it_o be_v never_o so_o heavenly_a a_o peace_n as_o for_o i_o i_o will_v not_o desire_v to_o live_v in_o paradise_n without_o the_o word_n and_o with_o the_o word_n to_o live_v in_o hell_n it_o be_v a_o easy_a matter_n like_v as_o in_o this_o world_n we_o live_v as_o it_o be_v in_o hell_n and_o comfort_v ourselves_o only_o with_o hope_n which_o the_o word_n of_o god_n show_v unto_o we_o and_o with_o this_o hope_n we_o overcome_v all_o kind_n of_o trouble_n &_o cross_n let_v we_o therefore_o lay_v sure_a hold_n on_o this_o consolation_n which_o the_o holy_a ghost_n here_o set_v forth_o unto_o we_o whereof_o also_o all_o they_o have_v great_a need_n that_o teach_v the_o word_n of_o truth_n namely_o that_o they_o be_v not_o the_o cause_n of_o offence_n trouble_n and_o sedition_n there_o must_v needs_o be_v offence_n there_o must_v needs_o be_v lucian_n epicure_n contemner_n and_o scorner_n of_o religion_n troubler_n of_o the_o peace_n and_o quietness_n of_o the_o church_n but_o bless_v be_v they_o which_o be_v not_o the_o cause_n of_o these_o evil_n but_o be_v preacher_n of_o peace_n and_o seek_v by_o all_o godly_a mean_n peace_n and_o christian_n unity_n in_o the_o number_n of_o who_o by_o god_n special_a grace_n we_o be_v at_o this_o day_n how_o soever_o the_o world_n think_v of_o we_o and_o we_o will_v pray_v unto_o god_n that_o for_o christ_n sake_n he_o will_v so_o keep_v we_o even_o to_o the_o need_n of_o continual_a exhortation_n to_o stir_v they_o up_o against_o the_o tentation_n of_o the_o flesh_n which_o strive_v against_o faith_n &_o the_o word_n of_o god_n lest_o the_o spirit_n be_v
