yet_o in_o this_o bless_a supper_n their_o love_n be_v sweet_o confirm_v the_o benefit_n be_v this_o when_o we_o be_v in_o affliction_n we_o know_v that_o they_o who_o live_v before_o be_v so_o and_o those_o that_o be_v now_o in_o our_o trouble_n they_o mourn_v with_o we_o if_o there_o be_v any_o cause_n of_o rejoice_v they_o rejoice_v with_o we_o but_o above_o all_o this_o we_o have_v this_o communion_n among_o ourselves_o and_o with_o the_o saint_n in_o heaven_n that_o we_o have_v interest_n and_o right_n in_o all_o their_o prayer_n which_o they_o make_v to_o god_n use_v 3_o the_o this_o bread_n and_o drink_v this_o cup._n second_o the_o caution_n that_o this_o action_n be_v to_o be_v perform_v withal_o that_o we_o have_v in_o the_o latter_a part_n of_o the_o verse_n you_o show_v forth_o the_o lord_n death_n till_o he_o come_v in_o this_o caution_n in_o the_o latter_a part_n of_o the_o verse_n we_o observe_v the_o caution_n itself_o namely_o to_o show_v forth_o the_o lord_n death_n second_o the_o often_o use_v or_o the_o often_o observe_v of_o this_o caution_n for_o though_o that_o be_v not_o here_o express_v yet_o it_o be_v to_o be_v supply_v out_o of_o the_o former_a part_n of_o the_o verse_n and_o be_v in_o common_a understanding_n to_o be_v read_v thus_o as_o often_o as_o you_o shall_v eat_v this_o bread_n and_o drink_v this_o cup_n so_o often_o you_o show_v forth_o the_o lord_n death_n till_o he_o come_v three_o and_o last_o here_o be_v the_o continuance_n of_o it_o how_o long_o this_o be_v to_o continue_v why_o till_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n till_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n till_o the_o come_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n you_o show_v forth_o the_o lord_n death_n till_o he_o come_v in_o the_o caution_n first_o we_o observe_v the_o matter_n that_o be_v to_o be_v remember_v that_o be_v the_o lord_n death_n then_o second_o we_o tell_v you_o here_o we_o must_v consider_v of_o the_o manner_n of_o the_o remember_n of_o it_o how_o must_v it_o be_v remember_v by_o a_o show_v forth_o by_o a_o lively_a and_o a_o kind_n of_o sensible_a express_v of_o it_o you_o show_v forth_o the_o lord_n death_n till_o he_o come_v concern_v the_o matter_n to_o be_v remember_v namely_o the_o lord_n death_n there_o we_o show_v you_o first_o what_o be_v mean_v by_o the_o death_n of_o the_o lord_n namely_o both_o the_o act_n of_o his_o death_n in_o respect_n of_o himself_o and_o likewise_o the_o benefit_n of_o his_o death_n in_o respect_n of_o we_o for_o that_o also_o must_v be_v remember_v in_o the_o receive_n of_o the_o sacrament_n then_o when_o as_o it_o be_v say_v here_o it_o be_v the_o lord_n death_n i_o show_v you_o that_o howsoever_o christ_n as_o he_o be_v lord_n can_v not_o die_v yet_o notwithstanding_o the_o death_n that_o christ_n do_v suffer_v be_v right_o call_v the_o death_n of_o the_o lord_n because_o christ_n be_v man_n be_v also_o god_n and_o lord_n yet_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o union_n of_o both_o these_o nature_n in_o one_o and_o the_o same_o person_n therefore_o that_o which_o be_v proper_a to_o christ_n as_o he_o be_v man_n be_v right_o affirm_v of_o he_o as_o be_v god_n and_o lord_n and_o thence_o we_o draw_v this_o observation_n in_o that_o it_o be_v here_o call_v the_o lord_n death_n namely_o that_o howsoever_o christ_n jesus_n be_v cruel_o and_o shameful_o crucify_v and_o put_v to_o a_o most_o cruel_a and_o ignominious_a death_n upon_o the_o cross_n as_o ever_o any_o man_n can_v be_v put_v unto_o yet_o notwithstanding_o even_o in_o that_o state_n of_o his_o death_n he_o be_v the_o lord_n and_o show_v himself_o to_o be_v the_o glorious_a lord_n of_o heaven_n and_o earth_n it_o follow_v now_o that_o we_o be_v to_o go_v on_o we_o have_v speak_v hitherto_o touch_v the_o lord_n death_n as_o it_o be_v consider_v absolute_o in_o itself_o we_o be_v yet_o further_o to_o speak_v of_o the_o lord_n death_n by_o way_n of_o application_n or_o by_o way_n of_o reference_n of_o it_o to_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n for_o so_o you_o see_v here_o the_o apostle_n speak_v of_o it_o respective_o unto_o this_o supper_n as_o often_o as_o you_o shall_v eat_v this_o bread_n and_o drink_v this_o cup_n you_o show_v forth_o the_o lord_n death_n till_o he_o come_v where_o by_o it_o be_v plain_a that_o look_v what_o the_o apostle_n speak_v here_o concern_v the_o lord_n death_n the_o same_o be_v confine_v expressety_n to_o the_o reference_n of_o the_o lord_n death_n to_o the_o lord_n supper_n we_o must_v always_o remember_v the_o death_n of_o the_o lord_n christ_n jesus_n every_o one_o of_o we_o that_o look_v to_o have_v any_o part_n or_o to_o have_v any_o benefit_n by_o it_o must_v remember_v it_o at_o all_o time_n but_o yet_o when_o as_o we_o come_v to_o communicate_v in_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n than_o there_o be_v require_v of_o we_o a_o more_o special_a meditation_n thereof_o than_o general_o at_o other_o time_n again_o even_o in_o the_o participation_n of_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n we_o must_v meditate_v upon_o whole_a christ_n christ_n bear_v christ_n live_v christ_n die_v christ_n bury_v christ_n rise_v again_o for_o christ_n be_v give_v whole_o for_o we_o upon_o the_o cross_n and_o christ_n be_v give_v whole_o unto_o we_o in_o the_o lord_n supper_n and_o therefore_o there_o we_o must_v receive_v christ_n whole_o and_o meditate_v upon_o whole_a christ_n i_o but_o yet_o in_o this_o case_n when_o we_o come_v to_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n than_o we_o must_v more_o meditate_v and_o our_o heart_n and_o our_o mind_n must_v more_o run_v upon_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n than_o upon_o any_o thing_n else_o that_o ever_o christ_n do_v or_o suffer_v for_o we_o it_o regard_n of_o the_o maintenance_n of_o their_o childhood_n i_o say_v not_o for_o their_o childhood_n itself_o but_o it_o be_v do_v to_o we_o in_o this_o respect_n that_o thereby_o we_o may_v be_v fit_v to_o ripe_a year_n to_o our_o better_a strength_n to_o our_o manly_a age_n that_o so_o we_o may_v be_v able_a for_o such_o employment_n and_o office_n in_o the_o church_n or_o commonwealth_n milk_n of_o the_o word_n here_o we_o be_v wash_v and_o cleanse_v with_o the_o water_n of_o baptism_n here_o we_o feed_v upon_o bread_n and_o wine_n in_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n and_o so_o upon_o the_o body_n and_o blood_n of_o jesus_n christ_n here_o we_o grow_v in_o grace_n here_o we_o be_v ingraff_v into_o jesus_n christ_n here_o we_o believe_v here_o we_o love_v here_o we_o hope_v here_o we_o watch_v here_o we_o pray_v here_o we_o lead_v a_o godly_a life_n here_o we_o endure_v temptation_n here_o we_o suffer_v fatherly_a chastisement_n and_o affliction_n that_o help_n and_o mean_n to_o further_o and_o to_o fit_v we_o to_o god_n kindgdome_n reason_n 2_o a_o second_o reason_n be_v this_o the_o second_o come_v of_o christ_n and_o the_o state_n that_o then_o we_o shall_v be_v raise_v up_o unto_o that_o be_v the_o final_a end_n and_o the_o final_a accomplishment_n of_o all_o the_o good_a that_o be_v do_v in_o this_o life_n and_o the_o good_a thing_n that_o we_o do_v in_o this_o life_n they_o be_v as_o so_o many_o mean_n tend_v to_o that_o end_n now_o we_o do_v know_v in_o every_o course_n that_o the_o middle_a action_n do_v always_o make_v a_o introduction_n to_o the_o last_o end_n and_o therefore_o the_o second_o come_v of_o christ_n be_v the_o perfection_n and_o end_n of_o all_o precedent_a action_n in_o religion_n the_o word_n and_o the_o sacrament_n and_o all_o the_o good_a duty_n that_o we_o perform_v be_v serviceable_a help_n and_o mean_n and_o instrument_n for_o the_o bring_n in_o of_o that_o last_o action_n which_o be_v the_o principal_a of_o all_o the_o rest_n receive_v the_o end_n of_o your_o faith_n say_v the_o apostle_n even_o the_o salvation_n of_o your_o soul_n 1_o pet._n 1.9_o the_o salvation_n of_o our_o be_v serviceable_a mean_n of_o the_o fit_v of_o we_o against_o the_o day_n of_o christ_n therefore_o every_o one_o of_o we_o shall_v labour_v to_o perform_v these_o duty_n so_o as_o to_o make_v this_o already_o and_o therefore_o it_o be_v proper_a and_o peculiar_a to_o their_o soul_n reas_n 6_o last_o the_o proportion_n betwixt_o the_o sign_n and_o thing_n signify_v prove_v as_o much_o for_o see_v nourish_v to_o a_o spiritual_a and_o heavenly_a life_n use_v 1_o the_o use_v first_o it_o shall_v teach_v we_o that_o see_v it_o be_v a_o feast_n for_o our_o soul_n therefore_o we_o shall_v use_v it_o whole_o spiritual_a our_o mouth_n be_v our_o mind_n or_o our_o soul_n our_o stomach_n or_o appetite_n must_v be_v hungry_a and_o thirst_n after_o grace_n and_o righteousness_n and_o forgiveness_n of_o sin_n and_o newness_n of_o life_n our_o preparation_n must_v be_v humbleness_n of_o mind_n and_o brokennesse_n of_o heart_n in_o the_o sight_n of_o our_o own_o wretched_a estate_n and_o faith_n and_o confidence_n in_o the_o promise_n of_o save_v grace_n for_o our_o deliverance_n it_o make_v no_o matter_n when_o we_o come_v to_o this_o feast_n whether_o we_o have_v our_o best_a clothes_n on_o or_o no_o he_o be_v best_o welcome_n that_o come_v with_o the_o best_a heart_n and_o the_o best_a soul_n for_o whosoever_o come_v not_o thus_o prepare_v want_v his_o wedding-garment_n and_o shall_v speed_v as_o he_o do_v he_o shall_v be_v cast_v into_o utter_a darkness_n last_o our_o affection_n must_v be_v spiritual_a our_o mirth_n and_o cheerfulness_n and_o joy_n must_v not_o be_v any_o carnal_a joy_n or_o corporal_a rejoice_v as_o at_o our_o bodily_a feast_n but_o we_o must_v rejoice_v in_o the_o lord_n rejoice_v in_o the_o spirit_n rejoice_v in_o god_n and_o christ_n and_o his_o salvation_n use_v god_n have_v set_v before_o we_o have_v we_o have_v faith_n in_o the_o promise_v of_o god_n have_v we_o have_v repentance_n of_o our_o sin_n have_v we_o prepare_v ourselves_o in_o the_o inwardman_n we_o welcome_n that_o we_o be_v better_o encourage_v to_o go_v on_o in_o godly_a duty_n more_o confirm_v in_o the_o assurance_n of_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o sin_n and_o more_o thorough_o resolve_v know_v that_o we_o have_v come_v like_o brute_n beast_n or_o at_o least_o like_o carnal_a man_n we_o have_v better_o have_v keep_v away_o if_o we_o have_v come_v only_o with_o bodily_a and_o not_o with_o spiritual_a eye_n let_v we_o know_v we_o have_v commit_v a_o grievous_a sin_n against_o god_n we_o come_v here_o to_o receive_v a_o general_a quittance_n for_o our_o sin_n past_a and_o we_o have_v add_v a_o great_a sin_n than_o ever_o we_o commit_v before_o let_v we_o therefore_o examine_v ourselves_o and_o lay_v up_o these_o thing_n in_o our_o heart_n to_o meditate_v upon_o they_o that_o thereby_o we_o may_v be_v

mortify_v our_o flesh_n and_o to_o crucify_v the_o old_a man_n and_o with_o patience_n to_o undergo_v and_o endure_v all_o the_o fiery_a trial_n it_o be_v the_o apostle_n rule_v 1_o pet._n 4.1_o 2._o so_o in_o the_o matter_n of_o temptation_n the_o best_a help_n and_o strength_n we_o have_v be_v christ_n crucify_v rev._n 12.11_o they_o overcome_v satan_n in_o the_o blood_n of_o the_o lamb_n when_o our_o redemption_n and_o therefore_o all_o these_o passage_n must_v be_v wrap_v up_o together_o in_o one_o and_o the_o same_o apprehension_n of_o we_o we_o must_v remember_v the_o death_n of_o christ_n especial_o in_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n but_o yet_o under_o the_o comprehension_n of_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n we_o must_v meditate_v upon_o those_o thing_n that_o go_v before_o his_o death_n and_o those_o thing_n that_o come_v after_o his_o death_n every_o thing_n in_o their_o kind_n and_o in_o their_o place_n and_o order_n this_o we_o be_v to_o understand_v by_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n next_o it_o be_v faid_fw-we here_o the_o lord_n death_n by_o the_o lord_n we_o be_v to_o understand_v the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n who_o be_v lord_n over_o all_o bless_v for_o evermore_o christ_n be_v the_o lord_n by_o nature_n and_o be_v as_o the_o father_n be_v lord_n and_o the_o holy_a ghost_n lord_n so_o also_o be_v christ_n the_o lord_n by_o nature_n and_o be_v but_o yet_o christ_n be_v entitle_v to_o the_o name_n lord_n by_o a_o kind_n of_o excellency_n and_o speciality_n in_o regard_n of_o his_o office_n of_o mediatorship_n whereby_o he_o be_v lord_n over_o all_o but_o especial_o lord_n over_o his_o church_n and_o we_o must_v understand_v that_o our_o saviour_n christ_n be_v more_o usual_o call_v lord_n at_o the_o time_n of_o his_o death_n and_o resurrection_n and_o afterward_o than_o he_o be_v before_o the_o reason_n of_o it_o be_v this_o because_o howsoever_o our_o saviour_n christ_n be_v lord_n always_o and_o even_o in_o the_o day_n of_o his_o flesh_n do_v many_o way_n show_v forth_o himself_o to_o be_v lord_n yet_o notwithstanding_o at_o his_o death_n and_o afterward_o he_o do_v then_o especial_o and_o most_o certain_o prove_v himself_o to_o be_v the_o lord_n and_o then_o he_o do_v most_o manifest_o show_v and_o declare_v himself_o to_o be_v the_o lord_n by_o do_v that_o then_o which_o never_o any_o can_v do_v but_o the_o two_o word_n and_o yet_o they_o seem_v to_o imply_v a_o flat_a contradiction_n one_o to_o another_o if_o he_o be_v the_o lord_n how_o can_v he_o die_v and_o if_o he_o die_v how_o can_v he_o be_v the_o lord_n can_v the_o lord_n die_v for_o answer_v hereunto_o we_o must_v consider_v that_o our_o saviour_n christ_n consist_v of_o two_o nature_n god_n and_o man_n he_o be_v perfect_o god_n and_o lord_n and_o withal_o he_o be_v perfect_o man_n and_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o union_n of_o these_o two_o nature_n his_o godhead_n and_o his_o manhood_n in_o one_o and_o the_o same_o person_n christ_n there_o arise_v a_o certain_a communion_n of_o the_o property_n of_o both_o these_o nature_n whereby_o that_o which_o be_v proper_a unto_o christ_n as_o he_o be_v god_n be_v yet_o affirm_v of_o he_o even_o as_o he_o be_v man_n and_o whereby_o on_o the_o other_o side_n that_o which_o be_v proper_a unto_o christ_n as_o he_o be_v man_n be_v affirm_v of_o he_o as_o he_o be_v god_n it_o be_v a_o deep_a mystery_n of_o our_o faith_n and_o yet_o a_o necessary_a point_n to_o be_v know_v for_o without_o the_o knowledge_n of_o this_o we_o can_v right_o know_v christ_n i_o desire_v to_o make_v it_o plain_a christ_n i_o say_v be_v perfect_o god_n or_o lord_n and_o perfect_o man_n and_o because_o that_o these_o two_o nature_n his_o godhead_n and_o his_o manhood_n be_v so_o near_o unite_v into_o one_o and_o the_o same_o person_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n hence_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o there_o be_v a_o communication_n of_o property_n that_o be_v to_o say_v those_o thing_n that_o be_v proper_a to_o he_o as_o he_o be_v god_n be_v affirm_v of_o he_o as_o he_o be_v man_n and_o those_o thing_n that_o be_v proper_a to_o he_o as_o he_o be_v man_n be_v affirm_v of_o he_o as_o he_o be_v god_n to_o give_v a_o instance_n of_o the_o first_o those_o thing_n as_o be_v proper_a to_o christ_n as_o he_o be_v god_n be_v affirm_v of_o he_o as_o he_o be_v man_n john_n 3.13_o for_o no_o man_n ascend_v up_o to_o heaven_n but_o he_o that_o have_v descend_v from_o heaven_n even_o the_o son_n of_o man_n which_o be_v in_o heaven_n our_o saviour_n christ_n speak_v it_o of_o himself_o even_o the_o son_n of_o man_n that_o be_v in_o heaven_n when_o our_o saviour_n christ_n speak_v these_o word_n he_o be_v upon_o the_o earth_n and_o not_o in_o heaven_n as_o he_o be_v man_n and_o yet_o there_o it_o be_v say_v the_o son_n of_o man_n that_o be_v in_o heaven_n as_o though_o then_o he_o be_v in_o heaven_n at_o that_o instant_n even_o as_o the_o son_n of_o man_n how_o can_v these_o stand_v together_o he_o be_v man_n be_v on_o earth_n and_o yet_o in_o heaven_n at_o that_o instant_n the_o doubt_n be_v clear_o answer_v thus_o consider_v christ_n consist_v of_o two_o nature_n god_n and_o man_n perfect_o god_n and_o perfect_o man_n and_o then_o you_o shall_v find_v by_o reason_n of_o this_o union_n in_o one_o person_n that_o well_o may_v the_o property_n of_o the_o one_o be_v affirm_v of_o the_o other_o christ_n the_o son_n of_o man_n be_v also_o the_o son_n of_o god_n and_o as_o god_n so_o he_o be_v then_o and_o always_o in_o heaven_n and_o because_o god_n and_o man_n be_v contrary_a that_o that_o which_o be_v proper_a to_o the_o nature_n of_o man_n be_v not_o to_o be_v affirm_v of_o the_o nature_n of_o god_n to_o say_v that_o the_o godhead_n die_v that_o be_v blasphemy_n but_o to_o say_v that_o the_o manhood_n die_v that_o be_v true_a if_o christ_n shall_v have_v say_v joh._n 3.13_o my_o manhood_n that_o in_o heaven_n that_o have_v be_v a_o untrue_a speech_n for_o that_o be_v not_o then_o in_o heaven_n but_o that_o he_o in_o regard_n of_o his_o godhead_n and_o the_o union_n of_o the_o two_o nature_n be_v in_o heaven_n that_o be_v a_o most_o true_a and_o holy_a speech_n the_o reason_n why_o we_o must_v put_v this_o difference_n be_v because_o

it_o at_o all_o and_o howsoever_o it_o be_v free_a and_o far_o from_o all_o idolatry_n among_o we_o yet_o sure_o if_o it_o have_v creep_v within_o the_o sacrament_n of_o baptism_n as_o it_o do_v creep_v within_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n i_o make_v no_o question_n but_o our_o state_n be_v religious_a and_o wise_a will_v have_v utter_o cast_v it_o out_o from_o the_o one_o sacrament_n aswell_o as_o from_o the_o other_o but_o i_o say_v they_o stain_v this_o sacrament_n by_o admit_v of_o the_o cross_n into_o the_o lord_n supper_n but_o that_o be_v not_o the_o worst_a they_o go_v further_o they_o maim_v this_o bless_a sacrament_n they_o make_v this_o communion_n but_o half_a a_o communion_n they_o deprive_v the_o people_n of_o the_o cup_n let_v they_o have_v the_o bread_n and_o much_o good_a may_v it_o do_v they_o but_o they_o shall_v have_v no_o wine_n but_o our_o saviour_n say_v eat_v this_o bread_n and_o drink_v this_o cup_n he_o give_v they_o bread_n and_o wine_n to_o eat_v and_o to_o drink_v and_o thus_o do_v he_o leave_v this_o ordinance_n to_o be_v observe_v by_o they_o now_o if_o the_o papist_n shall_v come_v and_o deprive_v the_o people_n of_o one_o half_a of_o this_o communion_n the_o servant_n show_v himself_o to_o be_v envious_a where_o the_o lord_n have_v show_v himself_o bountiful_a the_o lord_n have_v give_v they_o both_o kind_n and_o the_o papist_n give_v they_o but_o one_o nay_o what_o will_v you_o say_v if_o they_o overthrow_v this_o sacrament_n utter_o sure_o they_o do_v for_o they_o turn_v the_o nature_n of_o the_o sacrament_n into_o the_o nature_n of_o a_o sacrifice_n for_o with_o they_o this_o sacrament_n be_v a_o sacrifice_n it_o be_v a_o sacrament_n in_o the_o institution_n of_o our_o saviour_n christ_n but_o they_o will_v have_v it_o a_o propitiatory_a sacrifice_n for_o quick_a and_o dead_a this_o be_v to_o overthrow_v the_o nature_n of_o the_o sacrament_n they_o spoil_v it_o also_o with_o horrible_a idolatry_n another_o way_n in_o that_o they_o keep_v it_o but_o in_o one_o kind_n that_o be_v in_o the_o bread_n and_o that_o very_a element_n of_o bread_n that_o christ_n have_v separate_v to_o holy_a use_n they_o have_v turn_v into_o a_o profane_a and_o gross_a idol_n they_o hold_v it_o very_o to_o be_v a_o god_n and_o if_o this_o be_v not_o to_o overthrow_v the_o nature_n of_o the_o sacrament_n i_o know_v not_o what_o be_v use_v 3_o another_o use_n be_v this_o here_o be_v matter_n of_o confirmation_n arise_v hence_o that_o be_v concern_v the_o perpetual_a visiblenesse_n of_o the_o church_n upon_o the_o earth_n it_o shall_v be_v perpetual_o visible_a upon_o the_o earth_n so_o long_o as_o the_o world_n stand_v where_o the_o sacrament_n be_v to_o be_v administer_v there_o must_v needs_o be_v a_o visible_a church_n the_o sacrament_n be_v still_o in_o use_n and_o therefore_o the_o church_n shall_v still_o continue_v visible_a the_o papist_n do_v we_o wrong_n when_o they_o charge_v we_o that_o we_o hold_v the_o church_n be_v invisible_a or_o that_o at_o some_o time_n it_o be_v not_o visible_a at_o all_o true_a in_o some_o sense_n it_o be_v so_o and_o the_o scripture_n speak_v so_o and_o some_o of_o the_o papist_n themselves_o do_v speak_v as_o much_o but_o yet_o not_o in_o that_o sense_n as_o they_o charge_v we_o withal_o the_o church_n be_v sometime_o so_o obscure_v and_o eclipse_v that_o it_o be_v invisible_a that_o be_v to_o say_v that_o the_o world_n can_v see_v it_o and_o take_v public_a notice_n of_o it_o but_o yet_o be_v it_o never_o so_o darken_v but_o that_o one_o professor_n know_v another_o and_o they_o do_v meet_v together_o though_o sometime_o happy_o but_o two_o or_o three_o or_o a_o few_o in_o the_o use_n of_o god_n save_v ordinance_n god_n never_o want_v his_o church_n in_o one_o place_n or_o another_o the_o gate_n of_o hell_n shall_v never_o prevail_v against_o it_o use_v 4_o a_o four_o use_n here_o be_v matter_n of_o instruction_n many_o instruction_n to_o many_o duty_n first_o this_o call_v upon_o we_o that_o we_o shall_v behold_v and_o consider_v and_o take_v to_o heart_n the_o wonderful_a care_n and_o the_o provident_a love_n that_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n have_v over_o his_o church_n that_o do_v not_o content_v himself_o to_o furnish_v his_o church_n with_o sufficient_a spiritual_a maintenance_n and_o food_n so_o long_o as_o he_o live_v here_o himself_o but_o take_v order_n for_o it_o while_o he_o be_v here_o that_o the_o church_n shall_v be_v maintain_v and_o shall_v have_v as_o good_a a_o portion_n after_o his_o death_n as_o it_o do_v enjoy_v in_o his_o life_n time_n as_o if_o so_o be_v our_o saviour_n shall_v say_v and_o thus_o resolve_v with_o himself_o nay_o though_o i_o myself_o die_v yet_o my_o love_n and_o my_o care_n to_o my_o poor_a church_n that_o shall_v never_o die_v but_o so_o long_o as_o the_o world_n stand_v so_o long_o shall_v my_o word_n and_o sacrament_n and_o save_v ordinance_n be_v make_v good_a for_o all_o save_a purpose_n to_o my_o choose_a people_n a_o love_a and_o a_o careful_a husband_n will_v not_o only_o maintain_v his_o wife_n while_o he_o live_v with_o she_o but_o he_o will_v do_v the_o best_a he_o can_v to_o leave_v somewhat_o to_o maintain_v she_o when_o he_o be_v absent_a when_o he_o be_v dead_a and_o go_v the_o church_n be_v the_o spouse_n of_o christ_n and_o christ_n be_v her_o love_a husband_n love_v it_o most_o dear_o most_o tender_o and_o most_o affectionate_o and_o therefore_o he_o have_v not_o only_o provide_v mean_n of_o maintenance_n for_o the_o time_n he_o live_v here_o upon_o earth_n but_o now_o also_o that_o he_o be_v absent_a that_o he_o be_v dead_a and_o go_v from_o they_o still_o their_o maintenance_n that_o continue_v he_o be_v a_o faithless_a housekeeper_n that_o provide_v only_o for_o his_o family_n so_o long_o as_o he_o be_v with_o they_o and_o let_v they_o starve_v or_o shift_v for_o themselves_o when_o he_o be_v go_v he_o be_v worse_a than_o a_o infidel_n as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v that_o provide_v not_o for_o his_o family_n but_o our_o saviour_n be_v more_o faithful_a than_o so_o he_o provide_v bountiful_o for_o his_o church_n and_o family_n while_o he_o be_v here_o among_o they_o upon_o earth_n and_o now_o that_o he_o be_v go_v from_o earth_n to_o heaven_n from_o among_o they_o yet_o still_o he_o leave_v they_o the_o same_o liberal_a portion_n to_o nourish_v and_o cherish_v their_o soul_n as_o they_o have_v before_o christ_n will_v have_v we_o take_v notice_n of_o this_o his_o great_a care_n and_o love_n towards_o we_o mark_n 13.13_o the_o son_n of_o man_n be_v like_a unto_o a_o man_n go_v into_o a_o strange_a country_n leave_v his_o house_n etc._n etc._n so_o christ_n leave_v his_o house_n that_o be_v his_o church_n for_o a_o time_n that_o be_v in_o regard_n of_o his_o bodily_a presence_n but_o he_o never_o leave_v it_o in_o regard_n of_o his_o gracious_a providence_n but_o he_o for_o the_o welfare_n of_o his_o church_n and_o people_n that_o it_o may_v be_v as_o well_o with_o they_o after_o he_o be_v go_v as_o it_o be_v before_o john_n 14._o c._n 16_o 17_o 18_o vers_fw-la i_o will_v pray_v the_o father_n say_v our_o saviour_n and_o he_o shall_v give_v you_o another_o comforter_n that_o he_o may_v abide_v with_o you_o for_o ever_o even_o the_o spirit_n of_o truth_n who_o unto_o we_o out_o of_o darkness_n and_o make_v our_o great_a misery_n a_o mere_a step_n to_o our_o great_a glory_n use_v 2_o in_o the_o next_o place_n it_o teachethus_n how_o vain_a the_o hope_n of_o wicked_a man_n be_v that_o take_v part_n against_o christ_n and_o his_o member_n howsoever_o they_o may_v persecute_v we_o and_o bring_v we_o to_o death_n yet_o by_o our_o persecution_n and_o by_o exhortation_n to_o stir_v we_o up_o that_o we_o shall_v look_v to_o ourselves_o in_o the_o meditation_n of_o christ_n his_o death_n always_o to_o think_v upon_o christ_n the_o lord_n of_o glory_n
