reason_n of_o their_o request_n because_o therein_o they_o show_v proof_n of_o their_o knowledge_n faith_n confidence_n and_o other_o grace_n which_o be_v much_o please_a to_o their_o father_n reason_n in_o prayer_n do_v much_o reas_n 2_o confirm_v faith_n in_o we_o and_o stir_v up_o good_a affection_n in_o prayer_n for_o when_o a_o man_n can_v assure_v himself_o he_o have_v good_a hereby_o all_o pray_v without_o use_n 1_o understanding_n be_v the_o intention_n of_o the_o heart_n never_o so_o good_a must_v be_v judge_v to_o be_v faulty_a for_o he_o that_o know_v not_o what_o he_o ask_v can_v never_o give_v reason_n why_o he_o ask_v use_v 2_o this_o reprove_v all_o rash_a and_o inconsiderate_a entrance_n and_o proceed_n in_o prayer_n which_o be_v when_o man_n be_v lead_v therein_o only_o by_o custom_n or_o present_a sense_n of_o necessity_n but_o never_o exercise_v their_o faith_n in_o utter_v any_o reason_n of_o their_o request_n hence_o it_o be_v that_o they_o be_v so_o weak_a in_o faith_n and_o so_o cold_a in_o devotion_n and_o heartless_a in_o their_o prayer_n because_o they_o do_v not_o establish_v their_o faith_n and_o put_v life_n to_o their_o affection_n by_o utter_v of_o apt_a reason_n of_o their_o present_a petition_n use_v 3_o whosoever_o therefore_o will_v make_v a_o prayer_n in_o faith_n and_o fervency_n must_v follow_v our_o saviour_n help_n in_o time_n past_a or_o from_o the_o thanks_o and_o glory_n that_o we_o do_v give_v and_o will_v give_v if_o it_o shall_v please_v the_o lord_n to_o grant_v our_o request_n if_o from_o these_o &_o such_o like_a ground_n out_o of_o scripture_n we_o shall_v wise_o make_v choice_n of_o reason_n befit_v our_o present_a occasion_n and_o shall_v use_v they_o understand_o not_o so_o much_o to_o inform_v or_o persuade_v god_n what_o he_o shall_v give_v as_o to_o inform_v and_o persuade_v ourselves_o how_o to_o ask_v we_o shall_v be_v much_o holpen_v in_o our_o pray_n and_o god_n will_v be_v well_o please_v with_o our_o prayer_n the_o reason_n of_o the_o ask_v the_o aforesaid_a petition_n be_v set_v down_o in_o a_o form_n of_o praise_n and_o thanksgiving_n from_o which_o we_o may_v observe_v christian_n must_v in_o their_o prayer_n doct._n 2_o as_o well_o offer_v praise_n unto_o god_n as_o make_v request_n we_o must_v as_o well_o give_v he_o glory_n and_o thanks_o as_o pray_v to_o he_o to_o give_v we_o grace_n or_o any_o other_o good_a thing_n thus_o say_v david_n thy_o o_o lord_n be_v greatness_n and_o the_o power_n and_o the_o glory_n and_o the_o victory_n and_o the_o
