overcome_v all_o his_o seed_n overcome_v in_o he_o and_o therefore_o when_o you_o read_v the_o story_n of_o christ_n temptation_n you_o be_v not_o bare_o to_o say_v thus_o and_o thus_o christ_n resist_v for_o my_o example_n but_o in_o his_o resist_n i_o do_v resist_v in_o his_o overcome_v i_o do_v overcome_v for_o as_o i_o do_v eat_v in_o the_o first_o adam_n eat_v and_o yield_v in_o the_o first_o adam_n yield_v so_o i_o do_v refuse_v and_o resist_v and_o overcome_v in_o christ_n the_o second_o adam_n refuse_v resist_a and_o overcome_v thus_o with_o all_o the_o saint_n and_o people_n of_o god_n who_o be_v the_o seed_n of_o the_o second_o adam_n christ_n have_v not_o only_o overcome_v their_o temptation_n for_o they_o but_o in_o christ_n their_o second_o adam_n thâ—y_o have_v overcome_v satan_n and_o make_v a_o spoil_n of_o principality_n and_o power_n and_o therefore_o why_o shall_v they_o be_v discourage_v whatever_o their_o temptation_n be_v answ_n 4_o four_o if_o god_n have_v such_o a_o overrule_a hand_n of_o grace_n upon_o all_o the_o temptation_n of_o the_o saint_n as_o that_o they_o shall_v turn_v to_o their_o good_a then_o they_o have_v no_o reason_n to_o be_v issue_n of_o all_o the_o saint_n temptation_n that_o thereby_o they_o be_v more_o enlighten_v tentatio_fw-la that_o intellectum_fw-la temptation_n give_v understanding_n tempt_v time_n be_v teach_v time_n thereby_o they_o be_v more_o humble_v for_o this_o cause_n say_v paul_n i_o receive_v a_o messenger_n of_o satan_n he_o speak_v it_o twice_o that_o i_o may_v not_o be_v exalt_v thereby_o they_o intermission_n some_o revive_v some_o breathe_a time_n job_n complain_v that_o he_o be_v not_o suffer_v to_o swallow_v his_o spittle_n he_o have_v no_o breathe_a time_n as_o he_o think_v but_o though_o your_o temptation_n have_v be_v long_o and_o very_o long_o yet_o you_o have_v have_v revive_v satan_n have_v lest_o you_o for_o a_o season_n and_o if_o that_o be_v true_a that_o god_n have_v such_o a_o overrule_a hand_n of_o grace_n upon_o your_o temptation_n that_o your_o very_a temptation_n shall_v turn_v to_o your_o good_a that_o thereby_o you_o be_v more_o enlighten_v humble_v and_o gracious_a why_o shall_v you_o then_o be_v discourage_v though_o your_o temptation_n be_v very_o long_o object_n 2_o but_o i_o be_o tempt_v many_o time_n to_o doubt_v of_o my_o child-ship_n whether_o i_o be_v the_o child_n of_o god_n or_o no._n answ_n and_o be_v not_o christ_n our_o saviour_n tempt_v so_o there_o be_v but_o three_o particular_a temptation_n mention_v in_o all_o the_o forty_o day_n of_o christ_n temptation_n and_o two_o of_o they_o run_v so_o if_o thou_o be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n wherein_o satan_n labour_v to_o draw_v a_o cloud_n upon_o christ_n assurance_n and_o to_o write_v a_o if_o upon_o his_o child-ship_n or_o sonship_n do_v you_o think_v to_o march_v through_o your_o enemy_n country_n to_o heaven_n and_o never_o be_v at_o a_o stand_n about_o your_o condition_n suppose_v a_o man_n shall_v travel_v through_o a_o strange_a country_n which_o be_v very_o long_o wherein_o he_o never_o be_v before_o and_o wherein_o be_v many_o cross_a way_n will_v you_o not_o a_o man_n be_v never_o quite_o overcome_v till_o he_o lie_v down_o then_o through_o grace_n every_o godly_a man_n shall_v say_v i_o will_v never_o give_v up_o my_o weapon_n why_o be_v thou_o cast_v down_o o_o my_o soul_n still_o wait_v on_o god_n object_n 6_o but_o yet_o all_o this_o reach_v not_o my_o case_n or_o condition_n for_o i_o fear_v that_o temptation_n be_v not_o such_o temptation_n as_o be_v incident_a unto_o god_n people_n as_o my_o sin_n and_o spot_n be_v not_o the_o spot_n of_o god_n people_n so_o that_o my_o temptation_n be_v not_o that_o they_o be_v not_o such_o as_o god_n own_o child_n do_v meet_v withal_o and_o i_o rather_o fear_v it_o because_o that_o since_o the_o time_n that_o i_o have_v set_v my_o face_n towards_o heaven_n i_o have_v meet_v with_o such_o temptation_n as_o i_o do_v never_o feel_v before_o sure_o therefore_o all_o be_v not_o right_a with_o i_o have_v i_o not_o cause_v then_o to_o be_v discourage_v and_o cast_v down_o answ_n no_o for_o i_o pray_v what_o be_v the_o temptation_n of_o god_n people_n and_o how_o do_v they_o take_v they_o first_n when_o a_o godly_a man_n be_v tempt_v to_o any_o sin_n if_o he_o fall_v into_o it_o than_o this_o be_v but_o a_o slip_n or_o youthful_a carriage_n god_n be_v merciful_a and_o the_o like_a and_o so_o he_o be_v tempt_v to_o presume_v this_o usual_o be_v the_o way_n and_o manner_n of_o satan_n with_o the_o godly_a and_o ungodly_a second_o when_o a_o godly_a man_n be_v tempt_v to_o what_o be_v evil_a if_o he_o fall_v into_o it_o the_o devil_n than_o tempt_v he_o to_o think_v it_o be_v no_o temptation_n and_o to_o lay_v all_o upon_o himself_o say_v i_o have_v do_v foolish_o i_o will_v go_v out_o and_o weep_v bitter_o the_o devil_n have_v no_o hand_n here_o in_o it_o it_o be_v all_o my_o he_o rather_o startle_v at_o the_o sin_n than_o at_o the_o burden_n of_o it_o when_o a_o wicked_a man_n be_v tempt_v to_o what_o be_v evil_a he_o rather_o startle_v at_o the_o burden_n and_o at_o the_o punishment_n than_o at_o the_o evil_a and_o sin_n of_o it_o and_o this_o we_o see_v clear_o in_o matth._n 26._o our_o saviour_n tell_v the_o disciple_n at_o verse_n 21._o that_o one_o of_o they_o shall_v betray_v he_o whereupon_o they_o be_v all_o of_o they_o astonish_v and_o say_v every_o one_o one_o by_o one_o lord_z be_v it_o i_o these_o be_v good_a disciple_n judas_n yet_o stir_v not_o but_o at_o verse_n 25._o it_o be_v say_v then_o judas_n which_o betray_v he_o answer_v and_o say_v master_n be_v it_o i_o then_o when_o look_v to_o verse_n 24._o and_o you_o shall_v read_v that_o our_o saviour_n speak_v of_o the_o burden_n and_o punishment_n of_o his_o sin_n the_o son_n of_o man_n go_v as_o it_o be_v write_v of_o he_o but_o woe_n unto_o that_o man_n by_o who_o the_o who_o i_o be_o well_o please_v do_v he_o ever_o meet_v with_o such_o temptation_n before_o he_o be_v so_o declare_v to_o be_v the_o belove_a son_n of_o god_n from_o heaven_n and_o if_o god_n do_v by_o the_o wicked_a he_o measure_v they_o sometime_o by_o one_o carriage_n and_o they_o be_v cast_v thereby_o that_o even_o everlasting_o they_o be_v cast_v thereby_o ananias_n and_o saphira_n lie_v but_o once_o to_o the_o holy_a ghost_n that_o we_o read_v of_o and_o satan_n have_v a_o hand_n therein_o for_o say_v the_o apostle_n why_o have_v satan_n fill_v your_o heart_n that_o you_o shall_v lie_v unto_o the_o holy_a ghost_n yet_o they_o be_v cast_v thereby_o it_o be_v but_o one_o act_n that_o saul_n do_v when_o he_o spare_v agag_n and_o the_o fatling_n yet_o he_o be_v cast_v thereby_o it_o be_v but_o one_o act_n that_o adam_n do_v and_o eve_n do_v when_o they_o do_v eat_v the_o forbid_a fruit_n and_o satan_n tempt_v they_o to_o it_o yet_o they_o be_v cast_v thereby_o and_o all_o mankind_n lose_v thereby_o why_o
they_o be_v much_o refresh_v and_o if_o they_o want_v they_o than_o they_o be_v much_o discourage_v and_o say_v ah_o christ_n love_v i_o not_o and_o god_n be_v go_v will_v return_v no_o more_o why_o because_o they_o measure_v god_n eternal_a love_n by_o some_o present_a dispensation_n but_o if_o god_n present_a dispensation_n may_v seem_v to_o run_v cross_a to_o his_o eternal_a purpose_n why_o then_o shall_v they_o be_v discourage_v and_o say_v he_o be_v go_v for_o ever_o now_o so_o it_o be_v he_o may_v hide_v his_o face_n he_o may_v withdraw_v and_o deny_v particular_a comfort_n and_o manifestation_n yet_o love_v i_o eternal_o o_o that_o people_n will_v not_o measure_v god_n eternal_a affection_n by_o some_o present_a dispensation_n so_o shall_v they_o never_o be_v much_o discourage_v answ_n 2_o second_o if_o you_o will_v not_o be_v discourage_v in_o this_o condition_n take_v heed_n of_o let_v fall_v any_o despair_a despondent_a unbelieved_a speech_n for_o the_o more_o busy_a satan_n be_v about_o you_o in_o the_o time_n of_o desertion_n the_o more_o tedious_a will_v that_o time_n be_v and_o more_o full_a of_o discouragement_n now_o look_v as_o it_o be_v with_o some_o dog_n if_o you_o let_v fall_v a_o bone_n or_o bread_n or_o meat_n the_o dog_n stay_v and_o wait_v still_o but_o when_o he_o find_v none_o he_o go_v his_o way_n so_o it_o be_v with_o satan_n when_o a_o man_n be_v in_o a_o desertion_n he_o come_v and_o say_v he_o this_o be_v a_o time_n for_o i_o to_o work_v who_o be_o the_o first-born_a child_n of_o darkness_n and_o this_o soul_n be_v in_o the_o dark_a it_o be_v a_o fit_a time_n for_o i_o to_o work_v upon_o he_o there_o he_o stand_v and_o if_o any_o despair_a despondent_a speech_n do_v fall_v from_o you_o satan_n stay_v the_o long_o but_o if_o none_o fall_v he_o go_v away_o the_o soon_o have_v you_o therefore_o be_v or_o be_v you_o under_o any_o desertion_n and_o let_v fall_v any_o bone_n for_o satan_n look_v back_o and_o gather_v they_o all_o up_o again_o gather_v up_o these_o crumb_n again_o and_o mourn_v over_o they_o and_o take_v heed_n for_o the_o time_n to_o come_v for_o the_o more_o of_o these_o fall_n the_o long_a satan_n stay_v and_o the_o more_o you_o will_v be_v discourage_v answ_n 3_o three_o be_v sure_a that_o you_o hear_v thing_n indifferent_o on_o both_o side_n there_o be_v two_o party_n plead_v in_o your_o soul_n in_o the_o time_n of_o desertion_n one_o that_o do_v plead_v for_o christ_n to_o maintain_v and_o bear_v up_o the_o love_n of_o christ_n in_o your_o heart_n say_v he_o be_v go_v indeed_o and_o he_o do_v hide_v his_o face_n but_o he_o will_v come_v again_o and_o shine_v upon_o you_o again_o there_o be_v another_o party_n that_o do_v plead_v the_o cause_n of_o satan_n against_o christ_n say_v he_o be_v now_o go_v and_o will_v return_v no_o more_o you_o shall_v never_o see_v his_o face_n again_o in_o this_o case_n be_v sure_a that_o you_o do_v hear_v thing_n indifferent_o and_o let_v not_o your_o ear_n be_v open_a to_o one_o and_o shut_v to_o the_o other_o he_o can_v never_o judge_v â—g_z hâ—ly_o that_o do_v not_o hear_v both_o party_n though_o it_o be_v no_o time_n to_o judge_n when_o you_o be_v under_o temptation_n and_o in_o the_o dark_a yet_o how_o frequent_o do_v poor_a soul_n judge_v themselves_o in_o this_o condition_n and_o even_o judge_v themselves_o to_o be_v under_o judgement_n why_o but_o because_o they_o harken_v more_o to_o one_o side_n than_o to_o the_o other_o if_o satan_n come_v and_o tell_v they_o a_o story_n of_o god_n displeasure_n they_o will_v be_v sure_a to_o hear_v that_o at_o large_a but_o if_o christ_n come_v and_o tell_v they_o a_o story_n of_o god_n love_n to_o sinner_n that_o they_o hear_v not_o or_o if_o they_o do_v yet_o as_o a_o man_n that_o read_v a_o book_n to_o confute_v it_o be_v dispute_v against_o what_o he_o read_v all_o along_o so_o be_v they_o also_o dispute_v against_o the_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n all_o along_o as_o they_o hear_v they_o say_v in_o their_o heart_n o_o but_o this_o be_v not_o make_v to_o i_o it_o be_v a_o good_a promise_n but_o it_o belong_v not_o to_o i_o this_o be_v not_o my_o condition_n and_o a_o hundred_o such_o o_o butt_n but_o be_v this_o equal_a how_o be_v it_o possible_a but_o that_o a_o man_n shall_v misjudg_a and_o be_v much_o discourage_v when_o he_o hear_v thus_o wherefore_o my_o exhortation_n from_o the_o lord_n be_v which_o i_o beseech_v you_o in_o his_o name_n to_o receive_v never_o receive_v any_o relation_n from_o the_o law_n but_o be_v assure_v your_o
