government_n of_o the_o commonwealth_n but_o jesus_n christ_n i_o say_v he_o be_v the_o only_a lawgiver_n unto_o his_o church_n and_o therefore_o there_o can_v be_v no_o new_a ordinance_n nor_o no_o new_a law_n nor_o no_o new_a officer_n in_o the_o church_n that_o can_v be_v invent_v by_o man_n it_o be_v true_a in_o the_o civil_a state_n there_o god_n leave_v to_o humane_a prudence_n and_o we_o when_o we_o come_v to_o speak_v of_o christ_n kingly_a power_n especial_o as_o it_o have_v reference_n to_o the_o church_n there_o as_o he_o be_v king_n of_o saint_n there_o be_v no_o ordinance_n nor_o no_o law_n nor_o no_o officer_n that_o can_v be_v new_o erect_v but_o it_o must_v be_v the_o same_o and_o it_o must_v be_v the_o same_o in_o all_o church_n in_o the_o world_n the_o same_o law_n must_v rule_v all_o and_o the_o same_o ordinance_n and_o the_o same_o church-officer_n there_o must_v be_v no_o addition_n of_o any_o why_o because_o that_o in_o spiritual_a government_n there_o we_o wait_v upon_o god_n for_o his_o presence_n we_o wait_v upon_o the_o presence_n of_o christ_n to_o work_v spiritual_o upon_o the_o soul_n and_o we_o expect_v a_o spiritual_a efficacy_n from_o jesus_n christ_n upon_o our_o soul_n to_o draw_v we_o near_o to_o he_o and_o to_o draw_v he_o near_o to_o we_o that_o we_o do_v in_o all_o church_n ordinance_n and_o therefore_o only_a christ_n can_v appoint_v law_n for_o they_o you_o will_v say_v a_o there_o be_v no_o law_n no_o nothing_o add_v in_o the_o church_n for_o way_n of_o decency_n and_o order_n and_o such_o kind_n of_o thing_n to_o that_o i_o answer_v brief_o thus_o there_o be_v some_o thing_n that_o do_v belong_v to_o those_o spiritual_a ordinance_n thing_n that_o be_v in_o the_o church_n that_o may_v be_v helpful_a to_o they_o in_o a_o natural_a way_n as_o now_o if_o congregation_n meet_v they_o must_v meet_v in_o some_o place_n they_o must_v have_v civil_a order_n in_o their_o meeting_n there_o may_v be_v some_o thing_n civil_a and_o natural_a subservient_fw-fr unto_o those_o thing_n that_o be_v spiritual_a but_o that_o that_o be_v proper_o ecclesiastical_a whereby_o i_o wait_v upon_o jesus_n christ_n to_o have_v my_o heart_n draw_v near_o to_o he_o or_o to_o have_v he_o draw_v near_o to_o i_o therein_o there_o must_v be_v no_o addition_n of_o man_n in_o any_o law_n whatsoever_o but_o only_o the_o thing_n of_o christ_n that_o be_v mere_o spiritual_a if_o there_o be_v any_o natural_a help_n or_o civil_a help_n as_o we_o that_o be_v man_n can_v be_v exercise_v in_o thing_n that_o be_v spiritual_a without_o some_o natural_a and_o civil_a help_n there_o certain_o the_o prudence_n of_o man_n may_v come_v in_o but_o this_o can_v come_v to_o set_v up_o any_o new_a ordinance_n or_o set_v up_o any_o new_a officer_n in_o the_o church_n or_o make_v any_o new_a law_n that_o shall_v concern_v the_o spiritual_a worship_n of_o god_n to_o work_v my_o heart_n in_o a_o spiritual_a way_n to_o god_n or_o god_n unto_o i_o here_o lie_v the_o evil_a of_o man_n invention_n when_o there_o shall_v be_v any_o invention_n of_o man_n that_o shall_v come_v instead_o of_o a_o spiritual_a ordinance_n that_o shall_v be_v set_v by_o man_n institution_n and_o have_v more_o put_v upon_o it_o than_o it_o have_v in_o a_o natural_a and_o civil_a way_n to_o be_v helpful_a why_o then_o it_o come_v to_o be_v superstition_n i_o say_v when_o any_o thing_n be_v set_v by_o man_n in_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n that_o shall_v have_v more_o in_o it_o than_o that_o that_o be_v natural_a or_o civil_a to_o help_v than_o it_o come_v to_o be_v sinful_a and_o wicked_a when_o i_o think_v that_o by_o any_o thing_n of_o man_n appointment_n god_n shall_v come_v near_o to_o i_o or_o my_o heart_n shall_v be_v draw_v near_o to_o god_n by_o virtue_n of_o any_o institution_n of_o man_n here_o be_v the_o very_a proper_a nature_n of_o institution_n as_o for_o instance_n some_o thing_n that_o be_v natural_a or_o civil_a to_o help_v god_n worship_n that_o man_n may_v appoint_v but_o nothing_o that_o be_v spiritual_a to_o draw_v my_o heart_n near_o to_o god_n or_o god_n near_o to_o i_o as_o thus_o if_o the_o church_n of_o god_n meet_v together_o for_o ordinance_n it_o must_v meet_v in_o some_o place_n this_o be_v a_o natural_a help_n to_o have_v a_o convenient_a meetingplace_n to_o have_v a_o place_n to_o keep_v they_o from_o the_o air_n or_o rain_n or_o wind_n this_o be_v natural_a but_o if_o it_o go_v one_o step_n
high_o than_o naturalness_n of_o the_o place_n if_o i_o shall_v make_v this_o place_n by_o the_o consecration_n of_o man_n to_o be_v use_v as_o a_o ordinance_n to_o draw_v i_o near_o to_o god_n or_o god_n near_o to_o i_o that_o be_v to_o think_v that_o my_o prayer_n in_o that_o place_n be_v more_o acceptable_a than_o in_o another_o that_o because_o i_o perform_v service_n in_o that_o place_n it_o shall_v be_v more_o accept_v here_o i_o say_v man_n raise_v it_o high_o than_o natural_a and_o put_v a_o divine_a institution_n upon_o it_o and_o so_o it_o come_v to_o be_v sinful_a and_o so_o now_o you_o may_v come_v to_o know_v what_o the_o meaning_n be_v when_o we_o say_v that_o christ_n only_o can_v make_v law_n for_o his_o church_n and_o officer_n for_o his_o church_n why_o because_o whatsoever_o be_v spiritual_a it_o must_v be_v only_o by_o the_o authority_n of_o jesus_n christ_n this_o great_a king_n of_o his_o church_n 6_o and_o then_o sixthly_a christ_n be_v a_o wonderful_a king_n in_o this_o that_o his_o sovereignty_n be_v absolute_a which_o no_o king_n power_n be_v though_o they_o have_v great_a power_n in_o the_o world_n yet_o they_o have_v not_o a_o absolute_a power_n to_o do_v what_o they_o listen_v and_o certain_o no_o subject_n be_v bind_v so_o far_o to_o the_o humour_n of_o man_n that_o they_o shall_v do_v what_o they_o listen_v there_o be_v no_o absolute_a power_n that_o one_o man_n have_v over_o another_o burr_n the_o power_n that_o jesus_n christ_n have_v be_v absolute_a a_o absolute_a kingly_a power_n his_o will_v it_o be_v the_o law_n no_o man_n will_n in_o the_o world_n be_v sufficient_a to_o be_v a_o law_n but_o the_o will_n of_o this_o king_n it_o be_v sufficient_a 7_o and_o then_o in_o the_o seven_o place_n he_o have_v power_n to_o bind_v conscience_n his_o law_n be_v such_o as_o lay_v obligation_n and_o bond_n upon_o the_o conscience_n of_o man_n no_o law_n that_o will_v be_v make_v by_o all_o the_o angel_n in_o heaven_n can_v lay_v bond_n upon_o conscience_n but_o the_o law_n only_o of_o jesus_n christ_n all_o the_o law_n that_o man_n can_v make_v must_v receive_v their_o power_n and_o authority_n especial_o from_o the_o end_n of_o they_o and_o therefore_o if_o they_o shall_v not_o conduce_v unto_o that_o end_n for_o which_o god_n set_v up_o magistracy_n over_o man_n that_o be_v for_o the_o good_a of_o the_o place_n than_o the_o rule_n will_v hold_v that_o if_o there_o be_v not_o scandal_n or_o contempt_n there_o be_v no_o obligation_n upon_o a_o man_n conscience_n mere_o because_o it_o be_v the_o will_n go_v along_o enter_v into_o the_o large_a open_n of_o any_o thing_n that_o may_v be_v controversal_a but_o mere_o present_v what_o at_o large_a may_v be_v open_v to_o you_o about_o the_o kingly_a power_n of_o christ_n i_o say_v christ_n kingly_a power_n be_v wonderful_a in_o this_o in_o that_o it_o rule_v over_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n as_o well_o as_o their_o conscience_n christ_n by_o his_o power_n be_v able_a to_o subve_v the_o will_n of_o man_n and_o bring_v their_o heart_n to_o obedience_n to_o he_o all_o the_o power_n there_o be_v in_o the_o world_n can_v do_v this_o why_o the_o king_n of_o the_o earth_n if_o they_o be_v put_v all_o together_o they_o can_v not_o subdue_v the_o heart_n of_o any_o one_o poor_a man_n in_o the_o world_n the_o will_n of_o the_o poor_a creature_n in_o the_o world_n can_v be_v subdue_v by_o all_o the_o power_n of_o all_o the_o potentate_n and_o emperor_n upon_o the_o face_n of_o the_o earth_n they_o may_v beat_v his_o body_n or_o torture_n his_o body_n or_o kill_v his_o body_n but_o to_o subdue_v his_o heart_n to_o make_v his_o soul_n to_o be_v subject_a and_o obedient_a to_o they_o that_o i_o say_v all_o the_o power_n of_o all_o the_o potentate_n in_o the_o world_n nay_o all_o the_o angel_n in_o heaven_n can_v do_v it_o the_o will_n of_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n be_v such_o that_o all_o the_o angel_n in_o heaven_n can_v bring_v it_o down_o only_a god_n himself_o you_o many_o time_n say_v you_o will_v break_v the_o will_n of_o such_o a_o one_o that_o be_v you_o will_v make_v they_o not_o to_o do_v such_o a_o thing_n but_o you_o be_v never_o able_a to_o break_v their_o will_n king_n may_v prevail_v over_o their_o subject_n to_o make_v they_o to_o do_v what_o they_o will_v have_v they_o do_v and_o their_o estate_n and_o liberty_n may_v come_v to_o be_v at_o their_o dispose_n but_o all_o this_o while_o it_o may_v be_v he_o have_v never_o a_o one_o of_o their_o heart_n and_o that_o be_v but_o a_o very_a mean_a kind_n of_o kingly_a power_n only_o to_o rule_v over_o man_n by_o fear_n and_o they_o not_o to_o love_v he_o but_o now_o christ_n in_o his_o church_n he_o have_v never_o a_o subject_n that_o be_v true_o under_o his_o kingly_a power_n but_o he_o rule_v his_o very_a will_n and_o have_v never_o a_o subject_n but_o love_v he_o where_o christ_n do_v rule_v spiritual_o in_o the_o heart_n of_o his_o people_n though_o they_o be_v never_o so_o stubborn_a and_o rebellious_a before_o yet_o when_o christ_n come_v and_o bring_v they_o under_o his_o power_n he_o bring_v their_o will_n and_o their_o heart_n to_o he_o and_o that_o be_v the_o glory_n of_o the_o kingly_a power_n of_o christ_n 9_o and_o then_o in_o the_o nine_o place_n christ_n be_v a_o wonderful_a king_n in_o this_o that_o he_o have_v the_o perfect_a knowledge_n of_o all_o his_o subject_n and_o of_o their_o want_n alas_o king_n and_o prince_n in_o great_a state_n they_o know_v but_o very_o few_o subject_n that_o they_o have_v but_o now_o jesus_n christ_n take_v notice_n of_o every_o subject_n that_o be_v in_o his_o kingdom_n and_o know_v all_o their_o thought_n and_o all_o their_o way_n and_o all_o their_o want_v all_o their_o condition_n he_o know_v they_o all_o perfect_o oh_o this_o be_v the_o glory_n of_o this_o king_n and_o wonderful_a be_v he_o in_o his_o kingly_a power_n in_o this_o 10_o he_o be_v present_a with_o they_o all_o in_o all_o the_o administration_n of_o justice_n the_o king_n he_o can_v administer_v justice_n but_o he_o must_v use_v instrument_n to_o do_v it_o and_o he_o can_v be_v present_a always_o but_o jesus_n christ_n he_o be_v always_o present_a in_o the_o administration_n of_o what_o ever_o be_v administer_v to_o any_o of_o his_o subject_n he_o stand_v by_o and_o look_v upon_o they_o all_o 11_o christ_n be_v such_o a_o king_n as_o he_o have_v no_o need_n of_o any_o instrument_n at_o all_o he_o may_v make_v use_n of_o they_o sometime_o but_o he_o have_v no_o need_n of_o any_o king_n can_v do_v but_o very_o little_a without_o some_o instrument_n what_o can_v a_o king_n do_v for_o the_o rule_n of_o a_o kingdom_n but_o with_o such_o and_o such_o instrument_n but_o jesus_n christ_n be_v wonderful_a in_o his_o kingly_a power_n in_o that_o he_o have_v no_o need_n of_o any_o instrument_n for_o the_o administration_n of_o any_o justice_n but_o he_o can_v do_v it_o all_o immediate_o himself_o if_o he_o please_v 12_o christ_n be_v glorious_a in_o his_o kingly_a power_n in_o this_o that_o he_o do_v over-rule_v all_o the_o plot_n and_o counsel_n of_o all_o the_o enemy_n of_o his_o subject_n for_o the_o furtherance_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o kingdom_n and_o the_o good_a of_o his_o subject_n now_o my_o brethren_n look_v upon_o these_o thing_n as_o real_a and_o certain_o by_o faith_n they_o be_v make_v real_a to_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o saint_n and_o they_o do_v rejoice_v in_o this_o if_o we_o have_v such_o kind_n of_o governor_n that_o have_v power_n over_o all_o the_o plot_n and_o design_n of_o the_o enemy_n what_o a_o happy_a condition_n will_v we_o think_v ourselves_o to_o be_v in_o now_o this_o be_v in_o our_o king_n the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n he_o have_v power_n over_o all_o the_o plot_n and_o endeavour_n of_o all_o adversary_n to_o work_v they_o all_o for_o the_o good_a of_o his_o church_n 13_o further_n the_o lord_n christ_n be_v wonderful_a for_o his_o kingly_a power_n in_o regard_n of_o his_o righteousness_n thy_o sceptre_n be_v a_o righteous_a sceptre_n he_o be_v king_n of_o righteousness_n and_o so_o king_n of_o peace_n as_o melchisedeck_v be_v it_o be_v a_o happy_a thing_n when_o people_n live_v under_o righteous_a governor_n that_o they_o
and_o the_o truth_n be_v there_o be_v no_o such_o way_n to_o set_v out_o the_o justice_n of_o god_n as_o to_o show_v the_o deal_n of_o god_n with_o his_o son_n for_o the_o sin_n of_o man_n if_o i_o will_v preach_v but_o one_o sermon_n that_o shall_v be_v my_o last_o of_o the_o terribleness_n of_o god_n justice_n i_o will_v speak_v of_o some_o scripture_n that_o shall_v show_v the_o terribleness_n of_o the_o deal_n of_o god_n with_o his_o son_n and_o that_o will_v set_v out_o the_o justice_n of_o god_n to_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n more_o glorious_a than_o any_o thing_n else_o christ_n the_o glory_n of_o god_n mercy_n appear_v in_o christ_n and_o so_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n mercy_n and_o goodness_n be_v more_o in_o christ_n than_o any_o other_o thing_n we_o enjoy_v these_o outward_a comfort_n as_o a_o fruit_n of_o the_o bounty_n and_o goodness_n of_o god_n i_o but_o what_o be_v all_o these_o to_o all_o the_o love_n of_o god_n in_o his_o son_n i_o remember_v a_o learned_a man_n compare_v all_o the_o good_a thing_n we_o receive_v from_o god_n from_o his_o general_a bounty_n and_o providence_n and_o his_o love_n and_o mercy_n that_o appear_v in_o christ_n with_o a_o few_o spark_n that_o come_v out_o of_o a_o burn_a furnace_n and_o the_o heat_n of_o it_o within_o look_v what_o difference_n there_o be_v between_o they_o such_o difference_n be_v there_o between_o the_o love_n of_o god_n to_o we_o in_o all_o the_o comfort_n in_o this_o world_n and_o the_o love_n of_o god_n in_o jesus_n christ_n god_n he_o will_v have_v a_o argument_n to_o manifest_v the_o infiniteness_n of_o his_o love_n unto_o his_o creature_n and_o no_o such_o argument_n as_o this_o so_o god_n love_v the_o world_n that_o he_o send_v forth_o his_o only_a beget_v son_n 3.16_o joh._n 3.16_o and_o so_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n truth_n that_o be_v manifest_v in_o fulfil_a promise_n christ_n the_o glory_n of_o god_n truth_n appear_v in_o christ_n any_o promise_n that_o be_v fulfil_v manifest_v the_o glory_n of_o god_n truth_n and_o faithfulness_n but_o now_o the_o fulfil_a that_o great_a promise_n of_o god_n in_o send_v his_o son_n into_o the_o world_n here_o the_o truth_n and_o faithfulness_n of_o god_n appear_v more_o glorious_o than_o in_o all_o other_o for_o there_o be_v never_o a_o promise_n so_o difficult_a as_o this_o promise_n many_o man_n can_v be_v content_a to_o fulfil_v promise_n of_o small_a moment_n when_o there_o be_v no_o great_a difficulty_n in_o the_o fulfil_n of_o they_o i_o but_o here_o be_v the_o great_a promise_n that_o ever_o be_v and_o there_o be_v the_o great_a difficulty_n for_o god_n to_o fulfil_v this_o promise_n of_o any_o thing_n that_o ever_o god_n do_v promise_v and_o indeed_o when_o as_o we_o hear_v that_o christ_n be_v promise_v some_o four_o thousand_o year_n before_o he_o come_v into_o the_o world_n and_o yet_o at_o length_n he_o come_v into_o the_o world_n it_o be_v a_o good_a argument_n to_o teach_v we_o never_o to_o doubt_v of_o the_o fulfil_n of_o god_n promise_n and_o indeed_o the_o right_a apprehension_n of_o god_n faithfulness_n in_o this_o great_a promise_n of_o his_o son_n will_v mighty_o strengthen_v the_o faith_n of_o the_o people_n of_o god_n to_o believe_v any_o small_a promise_n and_o not_o to_o stagger_v in_o they_o and_o the_o reason_n why_o people_n be_v so_o ready_a to_o stagger_v in_o their_o belief_n about_o small_a promise_n it_o be_v because_o they_o have_v not_o be_v acquaint_v with_o the_o work_n of_o faith_n in_o believe_v that_o great_a promise_n that_o god_n make_v with_o his_o people_n in_o send_v his_o son_n into_o the_o world_n so_o that_o these_o attribute_n with_o all_o other_o do_v shine_v glorious_o in_o christ_n no_o marvel_n then_o though_o the_o angel_n upon_o the_o birth_n of_o christ_n they_o cry_v out_o glory_n be_v to_o god_n on_o high_a as_o if_o they_o shall_v say_v oh_o lord_n here_o be_v one_o come_v into_o the_o world_n wherein_o thy_o glory_n do_v appear_v and_o by_o who_o thou_o shall_v have_v glory_n to_o all_o eternity_n though_o christ_n be_v but_o a_o babe_n in_o the_o manger_n yet_o the_o angel_n do_v see_v more_o in_o the_o sea_n oh_o but_o then_o the_o sweetness_n and_o soul-satisfaction_n that_o there_o must_v needs_o be_v in_o the_o behold_v the_o glory_n of_o god_n in_o the_o face_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o this_o by_o the_o way_n will_v be_v a_o good_a evidence_n of_o your_o faith_n have_v you_o behold_v more_o of_o god_n glory_n in_o the_o face_n of_o christ_n than_o ever_o you_o do_v in_o all_o take_v with_o that_o glory_n more_o than_o with_o all_o the_o glory_n that_o there_o be_v in_o the_o world_n why_o here_o will_v be_v a_o good_a evidence_n of_o faith_n indeed_o that_o you_o have_v their_o day_n about_o nothing_o else_o but_o those_o thing_n this_o show_v the_o woeful_a fall_n of_o man_n and_o manifest_v a_o dreadful_a fruit_n of_o god_n justice_n upon_o the_o child_n of_o man_n for_o their_o sin_n certain_o man_n that_o be_v make_v in_o honour_n be_v become_v like_o the_o beast_n that_o perish_v in_o this_o regard_n and_o when_o we_o see_v the_o condition_n of_o man_n to_o be_v so_o low_a so_o base_a and_o vile_a as_o they_o be_v so_o beneath_o the_o excellency_n of_o a_o rational_a and_o immortal_a soul_n oh_o let_v we_o raise_v our_o thought_n to_o the_o meditation_n god_n divine_a justice_n it_o be_v a_o fearful_a fruit_n of_o the_o justice_n of_o god_n upon_o man_n for_o sin_n what_o be_v this_o the_o creature_n that_o have_v a_o immortal_a soul_n make_v by_o god_n more_o worth_a than_o ten_o thousand_o world_n that_o lie_v scrape_v from_o morning_n to_o night_n in_o a_o kennel_n and_o have_v no_o other_o thought_n for_o any_o high_a excellency_n but_o only_o if_o it_o can_v get_v a_o lump_n of_o bread_n to_o live_v by_o there_o be_v all_o they_o have_v to_o do_v as_o if_o they_o be_v bear_v for_o no_o other_o end_n oh_o think_v then_o be_v this_o the_o creature_n that_o have_v such_o a_o excellent_a soul_n sure_o sin_n have_v make_v a_o great_a breach_n between_o god_n and_o man_n and_o have_v bring_v mankind_n into_o a_o very_a low_a and_o mean_a condition_n and_o yet_o worse_o be_v those_o than_o these_o that_o have_v no_o other_o use_n of_o their_o soul_n than_o to_o be_v drudge_n to_o the_o devil_n and_o slave_n unto_o their_o lust_n but_o of_o this_o we_o shall_v speak_v to_o more_o afterward_o but_o now_o i_o only_o mention_v it_o as_o to_o give_v a_o hint_n to_o the_o meditation_n of_o god_n justice_n upon_o man_n for_o his_o sin_n three_o if_o the_o soul_n of_o a_o man_n be_v of_o so_o great_a a_o excellency_n use_v 3_o then_o certain_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v a_o honourable_a work_n for_o to_o be_v busy_v about_o soul_n a_o honourable_a employment_n for_o god_n to_o set_v one_o man_n or_o more_o to_o look_v to_o and_o tend_v the_o soul_n of_o other_o oh_o what_o a_o difference_n be_v there_o in_o the_o employment_n between_o work_v in_o wood_n and_o iron_n all_o day_n long_o or_o scrape_v in_o the_o dust_n heap_n as_o before_o and_o in_o a_o employment_n of_o attend_v upon_o soul_n to_o be_v use_v by_o god_n as_o the_o instrument_n of_o convert_v of_o these_o soul_n and_o bring_v of_o they_o to_o their_o former_a excellency_n in_o which_o they_o be_v make_v yea_o and_o to_o raise_v they_o to_o a_o high_a excellency_n than_o ever_o they_o have_v in_o the_o first_o creation_n if_o we_o prize_v man_n employment_n by_o the_o subject_n of_o their_o employment_n then_o certain_o this_o be_v the_o most_o glorious_a employment_n that_o any_o creature_n in_o the_o world_n can_v be_v capable_a ofâ—_n what_o be_v the_o reason_n you_o account_v a_o goldsmith_n a_o better_a trade_n than_o a_o blacksmith_n but_o because_o of_o the_o subject_n that_o the_o one_o work_n about_o rather_o than_o the_o other_o one_o work_n upon_o iron_n and_o the_o other_o upon_o silver_n and_o gold_n therefore_o one_o be_v a_o more_o honourable_a trade_n than_o the_o other_o now_o if_o the_o subject_n upon_o which_o they_o work_v make_v one_o to_o be_v more_o honourable_a than_o the_o other_o what_o trade_n in_o the_o world_n can_v be_v so_o honourable_a as_o the_o work_n of_o the_o ministry_n that_o work_v altogether_o about_o immortal_a soul_n in_o bring_v they_o to_o god_n to_o live_v to_o god_n and_o to_o enjoy_v communion_n with_o he_o why_o do_v we_o account_v a_o physician_n a_o more_o honourable_a profession_n than_o a_o horseleech_n one_o look_n to_o the_o body_n of_o beast_n and_o the_o other_o to_o the_o body_n of_o man_n if_o there_o be_v such_o a_o difference_n between_o the_o body_n of_o a_o beast_n and_o the_o body_n of_o a_o man_n that_o he_o that_o be_v employ_v about_o the_o one_o be_v account_v honourable_a and_o he_o that_o be_v employ_v about_o the_o other_o be_v account_v low_a then_o certain_o the_o employment_n of_o the_o ministry_n must_v needs_o be_v honourable_a for_o it_o be_v about_o soul_n the_o magistrate_n look_v unto_o your_o peace_n the_o lawyer_n to_o your_o estate_n the_o physician_n to_o your_o body_n and_o the_o divine_a to_o your_o soul_n though_o outward_a respect_n may_v be_v give_v more_o and_o shall_v be_v to_o the_o magistrate_n yet_o certain_o the_o employment_n about_o immortal_a soul_n must_v needs_o be_v the_o honourable_a in_o the_o world_n it_o be_v the_o honour_n of_o the_o angel_n in_o psa_n 91._o to_o take_v care_n of_o the_o body_n of_o the_o saint_n if_o it_o be_v the_o glory_n of_o angel_n to_o take_v care_n of_o god_n people_n what_o glory_n be_v it_o that_o god_n put_v upon_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o look_v to_o soul_n and_o true_o in_o this_o thing_n god_n have_v put_v more_o glory_n upon_o man_n than_o upon_o angel_n for_o god_n have_v not_o make_v it_o to_o be_v his_o set_a ordinance_n that_o angel_n shall_v convert_v soul_n but_o he_o have_v make_v it_o so_o that_o man_n shall_v be_v make_v use_n of_o to_o convert_v soul_n by_o preach_v the_o word_n and_o let_v all_o the_o angel_n in_o heaven_n show_v a_o employment_n so_o honourable_a as_o this_o employment_n be_v you_o will_v account_v star_n sea_n and_o earth_n if_o god_n shall_v but_o withdraw_v his_o hand_n from_o these_o creature_n they_o will_v present_o fall_v down_o to_o nothing_o they_o do_v depend_v upon_o god_n as_o the_o light_n upon_o the_o sun_n there_o be_v no_o more_o light_n if_o the_o beam_n of_o the_o sun_n be_v withdraw_v so_o if_o god_n withdraw_v his_o influence_n from_o the_o creature_n it_o can_v do_v nothing_o and_o it_o be_v nothing_o present_o so_o that_o the_o influence_n that_o there_o be_v from_o god_n to_o the_o creature_n it_o be_v to_o maintain_v the_o creature_n in_o his_o be_v every_o moment_n the_o lord_n must_v put_v forth_o as_o infinite_a a_o power_n to_o maintain_v thou_o and_o i_o and_o every_o creature_n as_o he_o do_v at_o the_o first_o for_o the_o make_n of_o the_o world_n 1.3_o heb._n 1.3_o and_o this_o be_v god_n excellency_n to_o uphold_v all_o thing_n they_o do_v so_o depend_v upon_o he_o if_o a_o workman_n make_v a_o house_n he_o go_v away_o the_o house_n can_v stand_v without_o he_o but_o when_o god_n build_v the_o world_n the_o world_n can_v not_o stand_v one_o moment_n without_o he_o and_o not_o only_a god_n must_v have_v a_o influence_n into_o the_o creature_n to_o preserve_v the_o be_v but_o likewise_o to_o enable_v the_o creature_n to_o act_v the_o creature_n can_v act_v one_o moment_n without_o god_n no_o creature_n can_v stir_v in_o the_o least_o degree_n 17.28_o act._n 17.28_o except_o the_o lord_n concur_v with_o it_o therefore_o the_o name_n of_o god_n alone_o be_v excellent_a by_o he_o say_v the_o scripture_n we_o live_v we_o move_v we_o have_v our_o be_v not_o only_o we_o be_v uphold_v in_o our_o be_v and_o life_n but_o we_o move_v we_o can_v stir_v one_o moment_n but_o god_n must_v concur_v with_o his_o creature_n for_o the_o motion_n and_o action_n of_o it_o 15_o further_n god_n alone_o be_v excellent_a in_o his_o operation_n in_o his_o power_n in_o the_o manner_n of_o his_o work_n though_o god_n give_v a_o power_n to_o other_o creature_n to_o work_v yet_o god_n work_v in_o a_o different_a way_n from_o all_o other_o creature_n first_o god_n he_o do_v whatsoever_o he_o please_v either_o in_o heaven_n or_o earth_n the_o will_n of_o god_n as_o i_o show_v you_o before_o it_o can_v be_v beyond_o god_n power_n god_n can_v will_v to_o do_v more_o than_o he_o have_v power_n to_o do_v 8.3_o psal_n 115.3_o psal_n 135.6_o eccles_n 8.3_o therefore_o the_o lord_n he_o do_v whatsoever_o he_o please_v in_o heaven_n and_o earth_n the_o power_n of_o every_o creature_n can_v but_o work_v within_o the_o sphere_n so_o to_o be_v do_v from_o eternity_n that_o be_v the_o excellency_n of_o god_n work_v the_o creature_n work_v something_o but_o perhaps_o a_o man_n do_v not_o think_v of_o what_o he_o do_v a_o few_o day_n ago_o but_o god_n do_v nothing_o nor_o never_o will_v do_v any_o thing_n but_o it_o be_v that_o that_o be_v decree_v from_o all_o eternity_n that_o he_o will_v do_v and_o god_n will_v never_o do_v any_o thing_n to_o all_o eternity_n but_o what_o he_o have_v decree_v from_o all_o eternity_n before_o yet_o it_o be_v for_o we_o creature_n to_o observe_v according_a to_o his_o reveal_v will_n but_o this_o be_v the_o excellency_n of_o god_n above_o all_o creature_n whatever_o 4_o and_o then_o there_o be_v a_o further_a thing_n that_o be_v as_o considerable_a as_o any_o of_o the_o other_o god_n be_v so_o far_o from_o need_v any_o matter_n to_o work_v upon_o or_o instrument_n to_o work_v by_o when_o he_o do_v do_v anything_o as_o there_o be_v no_o more_o require_v for_o any_o creature_n to_o be_v or_o work_v at_o any_o time_n when_o god_n will_v have_v it_o but_o the_o alone_a act_n of_o god_n will_n that_o be_v from_o eternity_n as_o now_o the_o world_n it_o be_v not_o make_v six_o thousand_o year_n ago_o now_o god_n will_v from_o all_o eternity_n that_o there_o shall_v be_v a_o world_n in_o time_n and_o there_o be_v nothing_o require_v to_o make_v this_o world_n but_o that_o act_n of_o god_n will_n that_o be_v from_o all_o eternity_n that_o it_o shall_v be_v at_o that_o time_n man_n he_o do_v will_v and_o decree_n to_o do_v such_o a_o thing_n now_o when_o the_o time_n something_o by_o the_o work_n that_o he_o have_v make_v that_o he_o can_v not_o do_v without_o his_o work_n but_o god_n can_v do_v nothing_o by_o any_o work_n that_o he_o have_v make_v but_o he_o can_v do_v the_o same_o without_o that_o work_n when_o he_o have_v make_v all_o his_o work_n they_o be_v not_o helpful_a to_o he_o but_o this_o be_v a_o branch_n of_o the_o all-sufficiency_n of_o god_n 16_o in_o the_o next_o place_n god_n alone_o be_v excellent_a in_o the_o manner_n of_o his_o communication_n of_o himself_o god_n do_v so_o communicate_v himself_o to_o his_o creature_n as_o one_o creature_n can_v to_o another_o first_o god_n can_v let_v out_o as_o much_o of_o himself_o as_o he_o will_v to_o any_o creature_n now_o one_o creature_n can_v let_v out_o as_o much_o as_o he_o please_v to_o another_o for_o instance_n a_o man_n that_o have_v learning_n he_o can_v make_v another_o as_o learned_a as_o he_o will_v a_o man_n that_o have_v holiness_n and_o goodness_n can_v make_v another_o as_o holy_a and_o as_o good_a as_o he_o will_v but_o god_n can_v this_o be_v god_n propriety_n he_o can_v let_v out_o of_o himself_o as_o much_o as_o he_o please_v as_o much_o holiness_n come_v out_o from_o they_o and_o this_o be_v a_o great_a encouragement_n unto_o they_o to_o expect_v mercy_n from_o god_n because_o they_o be_v a_o people_n that_o the_o lord_n will_v bring_v the_o great_a saviour_n of_o the_o world_n out_o of_o and_o then_o three_o that_o by_o the_o propound_v of_o so_o great_a a_o mercy_n as_o jesus_n christ_n shall_v be_v to_o the_o world_n they_o may_v hereby_o have_v a_o help_n to_o their_o faith_n that_o sure_o god_n will_v not_o deny_v they_o lesser_a mercy_n what_o great_a matter_n be_v it_o for_o they_o to_o expect_v from_o god_n deliverance_n from_o some_o outward_a affliction_n when_o as_o god_n make_v know_v unto_o they_o that_o love_n and_o that_o infinite_a compassion_n those_o tender_a bowel_n of_o he_o even_o to_o send_v his_o own_o son_n into_o the_o world_n for_o they_o and_o then_o fourthly_a it_o be_v to_o teach_v they_o this_o that_o the_o way_n of_o deliverance_n from_o any_o outward_a affliction_n it_o be_v to_o exercise_v their_o faith_n upon_o christ_n the_o messia_n that_o be_v to_o come_v the_o lord_n will_v teach_v his_o church_n when_o it_o be_v in_o affliction_n not_o so_o much_o to_o be_v look_v at_o the_o present_a affliction_n that_o be_v upon_o they_o and_o so_o to_o seek_v for_o outward_a help_n and_o mean_n of_o deliverance_n but_o will_v have_v they_o exercise_v their_o faith_n upon_o the_o messia_n that_o be_v to_o come_v though_o many_o hundred_o year_n after_o and_o this_o exercise_n of_o faith_n be_v so_o please_v to_o god_n as_o it_o be_v the_o only_a mean_n or_o the_o chief_a mean_n of_o deliverance_n from_o all_o outward_a affliction_n nay_o say_v god_n if_o so_o be_v that_o they_o will_v rely_v upon_o i_o and_o exercise_v their_o faith_n upon_o that_o great_a promise_n of_o i_o to_o send_v my_o son_n into_o the_o world_n as_o for_o their_o deliverance_n out_o of_o these_o outward_a trouble_n and_o affliction_n it_o shall_v be_v but_o a_o little_a matter_n for_o i_o to_o do_v that_o for_o they_o ordinary_o when_o we_o be_v exercise_v with_o outward_a affliction_n we_o only_o think_v of_o some_o natural_a help_n and_o comfort_n contrary_a to_o those_o particular_a affliction_n that_o be_v upon_o we_o whereas_o the_o way_n indeed_o for_o we_o to_o sanctify_v god_n name_n to_o do_v that_o that_o be_v acceptable_a to_o god_n when_o any_o outward_a affliction_n befall_v we_o it_o be_v present_o to_o exercise_v our_o faith_n upon_o the_o great_a promise_n of_o god_n in_o jesus_n christ_n upon_o the_o great_a covenant_n of_o grace_n that_o god_n have_v make_v
