cause_n we_o to_o think_v too_o high_o of_o our_o own_o worth_n too_o mean_o of_o that_o of_o other_o it_o be_v this_o hinder_v our_o grow_a wise_a and_o better_o our_o imagine_v we_o be_v wise_a and_o good_a enough_o already_o but_o alas_o do_v we_o see_v all_o we_o lack_v we_o shall_v soon_o fall_v in_o our_o own_o conceit_n and_o wish_v for_o much_o more_o wisdom_n and_o goodness_n than_o we_o have_v pride_n nothing_o more_o lose_v a_o man_n friend_n and_o gain_v he_o enemy_n nothing_o more_o render_v he_o a_o object_n of_o universal_a scorn_n and_o contempt_n so_o that_o the_o proud_a person_n by_o pride_n defeat_v his_o own_o aim_n he_o challenge_v honour_n as_o his_o due_n but_o by_o undue_o challenge_v it_o he_o reap_v disrespect_n and_o derision_n but_o above_o all_o nothing_o more_o than_o pride_n render_v we_o the_o scorn_n and_o hatred_n of_o god_n the_o lord_n behold_v the_o lowly_a with_o a_o eye_n
of_o love_n and_o approbation_n but_o the_o proud_a heâ—_n know_v afar_o off_o psalm_n 138._o versâ—_n the_o 6_o nothing_o also_o more_o obstruct_v the_o holy_a influence_n of_o the_o divine_a
