for_o such_o only_o be_v this_o brazen_a serpent_n erect_v this_o mean_n of_o cure_n provide_v be_v such_o now_o be_v you_o advise_v and_o excite_v to_o put_v your_o soul_n upon_o this_o way_n of_o cure_n to_o look_v up_o unto_o this_o brazen_a serpent_n by_o faith_n to_o look_v up_o unto_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n let_v it_o not_o be_v enough_o that_o you_o have_v hear_v tiding_n of_o a_o saviour_n to_o hear_v that_o god_n have_v give_v his_o son_n that_o christ_n have_v give_v himself_o for_o lose_a mankind_n or_o yet_o to_o know_v who_o and_o what_o this_o christ_n be_v what_o he_o have_v do_v what_o he_o have_v suffer_v and_o the_o like_a alas_o what_o will_v this_o have_v avail_v a_o poor_a israelite_n to_o have_v hear_v of_o the_o brazen_a serpent_n that_o it_o be_v erect_v in_o the_o camp_n and_o that_o all_o that_o come_v to_o it_o be_v heal_v by_o it_o whilst_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n himself_o lie_v close_o in_o his_o tent_n never_o look_v out_o for_o any_o benefit_n by_o it_o and_o what_o will_v this_o profit_n a_o poor_a sinner_n to_o hear_v what_o god_n have_v do_v for_o other_o in_o give_v a_o christ_n a_o saviour_n for_o they_o and_o to_o they_o whilst_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n himself_o lie_v still_o sleep_v in_o his_o sin_n not_o look_v out_o for_o cure_n for_o justification_n and_o salvation_n by_o and_o through_o he_o better_o such_o a_o one_o have_v never_o hear_v these_o gospel_n tiding_n his_o contempt_n or_o neglect_n of_o so_o great_a a_o mercy_n will_v be_v no_o small_a aggravation_n to_o his_o sin_n and_o punishment_n and_o therefore_o as_o many_o of_o we_o as_o god_n have_v in_o any_o measure_n make_v sensible_a of_o our_o miserable_a state_n and_o condition_n by_o reason_n of_o sin_n as_o we_o desire_v deliverance_n out_o of_o that_o estate_n apply_v we_o ourselves_o to_o the_o right_a use_n of_o this_o remedy_n look_v we_o up_o unto_o jesus_n christ_n serpent_n look_v up_o unto_o this_o brazen_a serpent_n look_v up_o i_o say_v not_o look_v too_o much_o downward_o upon_o ourselves_o not_o pore_v too_o much_o upon_o our_o sin_n the_o multitude_n magnitude_n number_n nature_n quantity_n quality_n of_o they_o say_v the_o one_o i_o have_v sin_v in_o betray_v innocent_a blood_n say_v the_o other_o complain_v of_o the_o grievousnesse_n thereof_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n never_o look_v up_o to_o christ_n for_o cure_v by_o this_o mean_v he_o perish_v and_o die_v in_o his_o sin_n to_o all_o such_o then_o and_o all_o other_o who_o desire_n to_o have_v any_o benefit_n by_o jesus_n christ_n let_v it_o be_v speak_v look_v up_o to_o this_o brazen_a serpent_n look_v you_o up_o to_o the_o lord_n jesus_n obey_v and_o die_v for_o your_o sake_n and_o look_v you_o up_o unto_o he_o as_o with_o desire_n so_o with_o hope_n with_o affiance_n and_o confidence_n of_o receive_v benefit_n by_o he_o to_o set_v on_o this_o exhortation_n what_o argument_n shall_v i_o take_v up_o strange_a motive_n motive_n there_o shall_v be_v need_n of_o any_o i_o suppose_v it_o be_v argument_n enough_o to_o a_o israelite_n be_v sting_v and_o feel_v himself_o so_o to_o here_o that_o there_o be_v a_o brazen_a serpent_n lift_v in_o they_o which_o hear_v it_o the_o same_o may_v we_o say_v of_o the_o sacrament_n god_n seal_v ordinance_n so_o they_o be_v to_o the_o believer_n seal_v up_o unto_o he_o his_o interest_n in_o christ_n and_o all_o his_o benefit_n but_o meet_v with_o a_o faithless_a heart_n they_o be_v but_o like_a seal_n to_o the_o blank_a assure_v nothing_o convey_v nothing_o and_o what_o we_o say_v of_o word_n and_o sacrament_n hold_v forth_o christ_n we_o may_v say_v it_o of_o christ_n himself_o him_n have_v god_n the_o father_n set_v forth_o to_o be_v a_o prince_n and_o a_o saviour_n endure_v he_o with_o virtue_n enough_o to_o heal_v and_o save_v the_o world_n of_o mankind_n yet_o without_o faith_n this_o virtue_n can_v reach_v can_v extend_v to_o we_o the_o virtue_n of_o the_o brazen_a serpent_n extend_v only_o to_o those_o who_o have_v eye_n make_v use_v of_o they_o in_o look_v upon_o it_o as_o for_o those_o who_o either_o can_v not_o or_o will_v not_o look_v upon_o it_o they_o have_v no_o benefit_n by_o it_o there_o be_v in_o jesus_n christ_n a_o all-sufficiency_n of_o merit_n and_o virtue_n for_o the_o heal_n and_o save_v of_o all_o poor_a lose_a sinner_n but_o as_o for_o those_o who_o either_o can_v or_o will_v not_o believe_v on_o he_o that_o can_v as_o pagan_n and_o paynim_n who_o never_o so_o much_o as_o hear_v of_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n 10._o rom._n 10._o how_o shall_v they_o believe_v on_o he_o of_o who_o they_o have_v not_o hear_v that_o will_v not_o as_o profane_v and_o secure_a christian_n how_o shall_v they_o have_v any_o benefit_n by_o he_o how_o shall_v that_o virtue_n extend_v to_o they_o this_o be_v the_o office_n of_o faith_n to_o apply_v christ_n now_o a_o plaster_n be_v it_o never_o so_o sovereign_a and_o sanative_a yet_o if_o not_o apply_v to_o the_o sore_a it_o will_v do_v a_o man_n no_o good_a no_o more_o will_v the_o blood_n of_o jesus_n christ_n if_o not_o apply_v to_o the_o soul_n by_o faith_n and_o therefore_o to_o draw_v to_o a_o close_a of_o this_o conclusion_n whatever_o other_o grace_n we_o have_v or_o want_v seek_v after_o faith_n faith_n will_v do_v that_o to_o we_o which_o no_o other_o grace_n either_o will_n or_o can_v be_v it_o possible_a that_o all_o other_o grace_n can_v be_v sever_v from_o faith_n yet_o can_v they_o not_o advantage_v we_o in_o the_o great_a business_n of_o justification_n and_o salvation_n in_o this_o case_n a_o weak_a faith_n will_v be_v of_o more_o use_n to_o we_o then_o any_o than_o all_o other_o grace_n even_o as_o a_o dim_a weak_a eye_n be_v of_o more_o use_n to_o a_o israelite_n be_v sting_v than_o any_o than_o all_o the_o other_o member_n of_o his_o body_n it_o be_v not_o a_o quick_a ear_n a_o eloquent_a tongue_n a_o strong_a arm_n a_o active_a hand_n a_o nimble_a foot_n that_o can_v stand_v he_o in_o any_o stead_n it_o be_v his_o eye_n which_o next_o to_o the_o brazen_a serpent_n heal_v he_o it_o be_v not_o knowledge_n though_o angelical_a it_o be_v not_o repentance_n sorrow_n for_o sin_n though_o never_o so_o deep_a aversion_n from_o sin_n though_o never_o so_o serious_a it_o be_v not_o patience_n humility_n not_o any_o inward_a qualification_n or_o outward_a performance_n that_o can_v justify_v can_v save_v we_o only_o faith_n faith_n look_v up_o unto_o jesus_n christ_n here_o be_v the_o necessity_n of_o our_o believe_a 6._o to_o this_o in_o the_o last_o place_n add_v the_o great_a utility_n the_o great_a benefit_n accrue_v from_o it_o 6._o the_o benefit_n accrue_v from_o it_o this_o our_o believe_v on_o christ_n i'faith_o though_o in_o itself_o it_o may_v be_v weak_a yet_o great_a matter_n depend_v upon_o it_o even_o as_o great_a estate_n be_v sometime_o hold_v by_o small_a acknowledgement_n hundred_o a_o year_n by_o a_o pepper_n kernel_n upon_o this_o depend_v our_o eternal_a happiness_n and_o salvation_n believe_v we_o shall_v not_o perish_v believe_v we_o shall_v have_v eternal_a life_n so_o run_v the_o insurance_n in_o the_o text._n the_o son_n of_o man_n must_v be_v lift_v up_o that_o whosoever_o believe_v on_o he_o shall_v not_o perish_v but_o have_v eternal_a life_n and_o so_o i_o be_o fall_v upon_o the_o four_o and_o last_o conclusion_n which_o i_o shall_v dispatch_v with_o all_o convenient_a brevity_n whosoever_o believe_v on_o jesus_n christ_n shall_v have_v full_a and_o perfect_a salvation_n by_o he_o consider_v conclus_fw-la 4._o whoso_o believe_v on_o christ_n shall_v have_v perfect_a salvation_n by_o he_o where_o consider_v he_o shall_v not_o perish_v but_o have_v eternal_a life_n for_o
