have_v behold_v how_o he_o stand_v divide_v between_o god_n and_o the_o world_n he_o shall_v have_v see_v how_o many_o secret_a sin_n he_o suffer_v to_o lurk_v in_o his_o breast_n nay_o in_o what_o a_o detestable_a manner_n he_o reserve_v a_o kindness_n for_o many_o of_o the_o vile_a sin_n such_o as_o be_v covetousness_n oppression_n hard_a deal_n unmercifulness_n malice_n revenge_n bitterness_n wrath_n implacableness_n and_o such_o like_a which_o be_v the_o sin_n of_o too_o many_o religious_a people_n that_o be_v of_o hypocrite_n that_o be_v not_o entire_a and_o uniform_a in_o their_o heat_n and_o conceit_n of_o your_o infallible_a spirit_n do_v not_o now_o make_v you_o violent_o oppose_v many_o thing_n which_o have_v christ_n stamp_n upon_o they_o and_o then_o you_o have_v best_o call_v strict_a n.c._n o_o sir_n there_o be_v no_o people_n so_o serious_a as_o they_o c._n if_o you_o mean_v that_o they_o look_v solemn_o and_o will_v not_o laugh_v nor_o be_v merry_a it_o be_v like_o its_o true_a of_o some_o of_o they_o but_o whether_o this_o be_v the_o effect_n of_o their_o religion_n or_o their_o natural_a temper_n it_o be_v no_o great_a matter_n for_o it_o do_v not_o much_o commend_v they_o otherwise_o if_o you_o mean_v that_o they_o long_o consider_v thing_n and_o come_v not_o to_o a_o resolution_n till_o it_o be_v late_o that_o they_o ponder_v all_o their_o word_n and_o action_n and_o weigh_v well_o what_o they_o be_v go_v about_o i_o doubt_v you_o will_v find_v but_o few_o of_o these_o serious_a person_n for_o to_o i_o the_o zeal_n of_o most_o of_o their_o head_n and_o express_v their_o fear_n as_o if_o they_o be_v too_o vain_a and_o light-spirited_n this_o censure_n have_v a_o show_n of_o seriousness_n but_o in_o truth_n proceed_v from_o a_o want_n of_o it_o but_o if_o you_o mean_v that_o they_o be_v in_o good_a earnest_n in_o their_o religion_n so_o be_v many_o of_o the_o nun_n and_o friar_n and_o other_o devout_a people_n among_o the_o papist_n who_o serious_o say_v their_o ave_fw-la maries_n and_o pater_n noster_n and_o will_v not_o omit_v they_o for_o all_o the_o world_n and_o so_o be_v the_o pharisee_n a_o very_a serious_a better_a thought_n of_o than_o his_o neighbour_n in_o short_a he_o may_v love_v money_n and_o esteem_n be_v covetous_a and_o censorious_a as_o the_o pharisee_n be_v n.c._n you_o love_v to_o compare_v we_o with_o the_o pharisee_n be_v they_o such_o a_o tender-conscienced_a people_n c._n yes_o indeed_o be_v they_o in_o many_o thing_n they_o will_v rather_o die_v than_o break_v the_o sabbath_n they_o discourse_n c._n in_o my_o mind_n you_o ought_v to_o like_v he_o the_o better_a for_o this_o because_o he_o be_v not_o a_o hypocrite_n and_o do_v not_o that_o to_o get_v a_o live_n which_o he_o inward_o dislike_v nor_o approve_v that_o by_o public_a practice_n which_o he_o disallow_v or_o discommend_v in_o private_a talk_n and_o methinks_v it_o argue_v too_o much_o insincerity_n in_o yourselves_o that_o you_o can_v be_v content_a nay_o glad_a that_o another_o man_n shall_v do_v contrary_a to_o his_o conscience_n and_o profession_n either_o in_o use_v those_o prayer_n which_o he_o inward_o disaffect_v or_o in_o speak_v against_o they_o at_o least_o silent_o hear_v they_o reproach_v when_o he_o be_v convince_v of_o their_o goodness_n above_o all_o i_o wonder_v how_o any_o honest-hearted_a man_n can_v endure_v he_o that_o mutter_v over_o the_o public_a prayer_n which_o he_o pretend_v by_o his_o use_n of_o they_o to_o like_v without_o any_o spirit_n or_o life_n on_o purpose_n to_o disgrace_v they_o and_o bring_v they_o into_o contempt_n at_o least_o to_o make_v his_o own_o prayer_n better_o accept_v and_o prefer_v before_o they_o n.c._n well_o but_o what_o need_v he_o justify_v and_o maintain_v the_o use_n of_o common-prayer_n wherever_o he_o hear_v it_o dispute_v of_o c._n he_o thereby_o do_v but_o justify_v himself_o and_o his_o own_o practice_n it_o seem_v you_o will_v have_v he_o stand_v like_o a_o fool_n with_o his_o finger_n in_o his_o mouth_n mere_o to_o humour_n you_o and_o withal_o you_o will_v fain_o have_v it_o think_v that_o all_o thing_n to_o ruin_n which_o be_v the_o easy_a thing_n in_o the_o world_n the_o work_n of_o ignorance_n and_o confidence_n and_o as_o one_o of_o our_o minister_n say_v the_o pastime_n of_o the_o devil_n and_o the_o employment_n of_o his_o child_n of_o who_o we_o may_v speak_v in_o the_o apostle_n word_n rom._n 3.16_o destruction_n and_o misery_n be_v in_o their_o way_n and_o the_o way_n of_o peace_n have_v they_o not_o know_v in_o order_n to_o this_o you_o disgrace_v the_o bishop_n undervalue_n if_o not_o despise_v all_o our_o minister_n revile_v the_o common-prayer_n accuse_v we_o of_o superstition_n popery_n anti-christianism_a and_o what_o not_o you_o everywhere_o divulge_v and_o spread_v abroad_o the_o fault_n of_o any_o of_o the_o clergy_n and_o rejoice_v to_o hear_v or_o tell_v a_o story_n of_o any_o drunken_a parson_n as_o you_o be_v wont_a to_o call_v the_o best_a of_o they_o by_o way_n of_o derision_n nay_o you_o have_v more_o favour_n and_o kindness_n for_o wild_a and_o fanatic_a people_n who_o undermine_v the_o very_a foundation_n of_o religion_n than_o for_o we_o n.c._n no_o more_o of_o this_o i_o pray_v you_o c._n i_o shall_v rather_o say_v to_o you_o let_v we_o hear_v no_o more_o of_o this_o and_o i_o shall_v rejoice_v and_o be_v ready_a to_o correspond_v with_o you_o in_o all_o office_n of_o love_n and_o kindness_n n.c._n belike_o you_o can_v love_v one_o of_o our_o way_n c._n yes_o very_o hearty_o and_o therefore_o i_o will_v not_o have_v you_o expound_v any_o thing_n i_o have_v say_v as_o if_o it_o be_v mean_v against_o the_o humble_a the_o modest_a and_o fit_a to_o teach_v and_o rule_v the_o whole_a nation_n these_o we_o can_v well_o suffer_v to_o strut_v as_o they_o do_v and_o not_o endeavour_v to_o display_v their_o vanity_n nor_o can_v we_o approve_v of_o those_o who_o for_o the_o sake_n of_o their_o party_n be_v content_a to_o dissemble_v it_o if_o not_o favour_v their_o impudent_a pretence_n for_o we_o know_v well_o enough_o how_o like_a they_o be_v in_o many_o thing_n to_o s._n paul_n formal_a christian_n especial_o in_o this_o one_o part_n of_o their_o character_n that_o they_o be_v despiser_n of_o those_o that_o be_v good_a a_o thing_n i_o will_v by_o no_o mean_n be_v guilty_a of_o and_o therefore_o hope_v you_o will_v not_o suspect_v my_o esteem_n of_o you_o n._n c._n i_o be_o glad_a you_o be_v so_o charitable_o spirit_n quiet_a and_o peaceable_a in_o the_o land_n desire_v unity_n and_o accord_n grieve_v for_o the_o breach_n of_o it_o and_o be_v so_o far_o from_o condemn_v those_o that_o be_v satisfy_v to_o do_v what_o the_o law_n require_v that_o they_o be_v sorry_a they_o can_v contribute_v to_o the_o common_a peace_n by_o do_v the_o same_o upon_o which_o account_n they_o go_v as_o far_o as_o they_o can_v and_o conform_v to_o public_a order_n in_o all_o thing_n wherein_o they_o be_v satisfy_v and_o be_v tender_a of_o break_v any_o law_n and_o when_o they_o can_v obey_v they_o do_v not_o rail_v governor_n or_o government_n they_o be_v always_o revile_v bishop_n and_o common-prayer_n and_o talk_v like_o man_n inspire_v it_o be_v a_o easy_a matter_n for_o they_o to_o disparage_v all_o our_o ministry_n and_o beget_v a_o ill_a opinion_n of_o they_o in_o the_o mind_n of_o their_o credulous_a follower_n which_o we_o conceive_v to_o be_v their_o business_n no_o wonder_n if_o our_o man_n seek_v to_o preserve_v themselves_o not_o by_o disgrace_v but_o
away_o nay_o it_o seem_v to_o be_v far_o worse_o because_o it_o be_v a_o more_o public_a affront_n to_o god_n even_o while_o we_o be_v in_o his_o presence_n a_o open_a scorn_n of_o his_o worship_n and_o a_o contempt_n of_o all_o his_o people_n that_o devout_o join_v in_o it_o therefore_o for_o the_o love_n of_o god_n never_o involve_v yourself_o in_o this_o guilt_n as_o i_o see_v too_o many_o even_o of_o the_o great_a one_o do_v who_o show_v not_o half_a so_o much_o reverence_n before_o god_n in_o the_o time_n of_o divine_a service_n as_o the_o people_n do_v before_o the_o mean_a justice_n character_n or_o mark_n of_o his_o person_n when_o he_o shall_v appear_v and_o what_o be_v more_o necessary_a to_o be_v know_v than_o he_o when_o he_o come_v among_o they_o in_o what_o be_v they_o from_o a_o love_n of_o the_o flesh_n and_o sensual_a thing_n and_o a_o too_o great_a strangeness_n and_o averseness_n to_o all_o the_o concern_v of_o a_o soul_n and_o assure_v yourself_o there_o be_v no_o ignorance_n so_o black_a and_o dark_a as_o this_o which_o proceed_v from_o corrupt_a affection_n that_o which_o be_v the_o effect_n only_o of_o weakness_n of_o part_n want_v of_o opportunity_n ill_a education_n or_o bad_a instruction_n may_v find_v some_o help_n and_o be_v in_o great_a measure_n cure_v a_o man_n of_o very_o mean_v natural_a part_n that_o have_v a_o honest_a heart_n may_v
