vessel_n man_n in_o which_o the_o holy_a spirit_n dwell_v the_o vessel_n can_v contain_v they_o but_o run_v over_o and_o because_o the_o tender_a spirit_n can_v tarry_v with_o the_o evil-one_a it_o depart_v and_o dwell_v with_o he_o that_o be_v mild_a when_o therefore_o it_o be_v depart_v from_o the_o man_n in_o who_o it_o dwell_v that_o man_n become_v destitute_a of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n understanding_n within_o himself_o that_o he_o have_v offend_v and_o repent_v and_o do_v no_o more_o wicked_o but_o do_v that_o which_o be_v good_a and_o humble_v his_o soul_n and_o afflict_v it_o because_o he_o have_v offend_v you_o see_v therefore_o that_o repentance_n be_v a_o deep_a sense_n and_o i_o say_v unto_o he_o for_o this_o cause_n sir_n i_o inquire_v diligent_o into_o all_o thing_n who_o have_v the_o lord_n only_o in_o their_o mouth_n and_o their_o heart_n be_v harden_v be_v far_o from_o the_o lord_n to_o such_o person_n these_o command_n be_v hard_a and_o difficult_a put_v therefore_o you_o that_o be_v empty_a and_o light_a in_o the_o faith_n the_o lord_n your_o god_n and_o keep_v he_o in_o your_o heart_n and_o you_o shall_v understand_v how_o that_o nothing_o be_v more_o easy_a than_o these_o command_n nor_o more_o pleasant_a nor_o more_o gentle_a and_o holy_a and_o turn_v yourselves_o to_o the_o lord_n your_o god_n and_o forsake_v the_o devil_n and_o his_o he_o have_v some_o great_a power_n for_o the_o devil_n try_v the_o servant_n of_o god_n and_o if_o he_o find_v they_o empty_a he_o destroy_v they_o for_o as_o a_o man_n when_o he_o fill_v up_o vessel_n with_o good_a wine_n 42_o and_o among_o they_o put_v a_o few_o vessel_n half_o full_a and_o come_v to_o try_v and_o taste_v of_o the_o vessel_n do_v not_o try_v those_o that_o be_v full_a because_o he_o know_v that_o they_o be_v good_a but_o taste_v those_o that_o be_v half_a full_a lest_o they_o shall_v grow_v sour_a for_o vessel_n half_o full_a soon_o grow_v sour_a and_o lose_v the_o taste_n of_o wine_n so_o the_o devil_n come_v to_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n to_o try_v they_o they_o that_o be_v full_a of_o faith_n resist_v he_o stout_o and_o he_o depart_v from_o they_o because_o he_o find_v no_o place_n where_o to_o enter_v into_o they_o then_o he_o go_v to_o those_o that_o be_v not_o full_a of_o faith_n and_o because_o he_o have_v place_n of_o entrance_n he_o go_v into_o they_o and_o do_v what_o he_o will_v with_o they_o and_o they_o become_v his_o servant_n vi_o but_o i_o the_o angel_n messenger_n of_o repentance_n say_v unto_o you_o fear_v not_o the_o devil_n for_o i_o be_o send_v unto_o you_o that_o i_o may_v be_v with_o you_o as_o many_o as_o shall_v repent_v with_o your_o whole_a heart_n and_o that_o i_o may_v confirm_v you_o in_o the_o faith_n lxxvii_o believe_v therefore_o you_o who_o by_o reason_n of_o your_o transgression_n have_v forget_v god_n and_o who_o company_n your_o salvation_n with_o your_o sin_n lead_v your_o life_n in_o trouble_n that_o if_o you_o shall_v turn_v to_o the_o lord_n with_o your_o whole_a heart_n and_o shall_v serve_v he_o according_a to_o his_o will_n he_o will_v give_v a_o remedy_n to_o your_o soul_n notwithstanding_o your_o former_a sin_n and_o you_o shall_v have_v dominion_n over_o all_o the_o work_n of_o the_o devil_n be_v not_o then_o afraid_a in_o the_o least_o of_o his_o threaten_n for_o they_o be_v without_o force_n as_o the_o sinew_n of_o a_o dead_a man._n but_o harken_v unto_o i_o and_o fear_v the_o lord_n almighty_n who_o be_v able_a to_o save_v and_o to_o destroy_v you_o and_o keep_v his_o command_n that_o you_o may_v live_v unto_o god_n and_o i_o say_v unto_o he_o sir_n i_o be_o now_o confirm_v in_o all_o the_o command_v of_o the_o lord_n whilst_o that_o you_o be_v with_o i_o and_o i_o know_v that_o you_o will_v break_v all_o the_o power_n of_o the_o devil_n and_o we_o also_o shall_v overcome_v he_o if_o we_o shall_v be_v able_a through_o the_o help_n of_o the_o lord_n to_o keep_v these_o command_n which_o you_o have_v deliver_v thou_o shall_v keep_v they_o say_v he_o if_o thou_o shall_v purify_v thy_o heart_n towards_o the_o lord_n and_o all_o they_o also_o shall_v keep_v they_o who_o shall_v cleanse_v their_o heart_n from_o the_o vain_a desire_n of_o the_o present_a world_n and_o shall_v live_v unto_o god_n the_o three_o book_n of_o st._n hermas_n which_o be_v call_v his_o similitude_n the_o first_o similitude_n that_o see_v we_o have_v no_o abide_v city_n in_o this_o world_n we_o ought_v to_o look_v after_o that_o which_o be_v to_o come_v and_o he_o say_v unto_o i_o xv_o you_o know_v that_o you_o who_o be_v the_o servant_n of_o the_o lord_n live_v here_o as_o in_o a_o pilgrimage_n for_o your_o city_n be_v far_o off_o from_o this_o city_n if_o therefore_o you_o know_v your_o city_n in_o which_o you_o be_v to_o dwell_v why_o do_v you_o here_o buy_v estate_n and_o provide_v yourselves_o with_o delicacy_n and_o stately_a building_n and_o superfluous_a house_n for_o he_o that_o provide_v himself_o these_o thing_n in_o this_o city_n do_v not_o think_v of_o return_v into_o his_o own_o city_n o_o foolish_a and_o doubtful_a and_o wretched_a man_n who_o understand_v not_o that_o all_o these_o thing_n be_v other_o man_n and_o under_o the_o power_n of_o another_o for_o the_o lord_n of_o this_o city_n say_v unto_o thou_o either_o obey_v my_o law_n or_o depart_v out_o of_o my_o city_n what_o therefore_o shall_v thou_o do_v who_o be_v subject_a to_o a_o law_n in_o thy_o own_o city_n can_v thou_o for_o thy_o estate_n or_o for_o any_o of_o those_o thing_n which_o thou_o have_v provide_v deny_v thy_o law_n but_o if_o thou_o shall_v deny_v it_o and_o will_v afterward_o return_v into_o thy_o own_o city_n thou_o shall_v not_o be_v receive_v but_o shall_v be_v exclude_v thence_o see_v therefore_o that_o like_o a_o man_n in_o another_o country_n thou_o procure_v no_o more_o to_o thyself_o then_o what_o be_v necessary_a and_o sufficient_a for_o thou_o and_o be_v ready_a that_o when_o the_o god_n or_o lord_n of_o this_o city_n shall_v drive_v thou_o out_o of_o it_o thou_o may_v oppose_v his_o law_n and_o go_v into_o thy_o work_n as_o these_o for_o for_o this_o end_n have_v god_n enrich_v you_o that_o you_o may_v fulfil_v these_o kind_n of_o service_n it_o be_v much_o better_a to_o do_v this_o than_o to_o buy_v land_n or_o house_n because_o all_o such_o thing_n shall_v perish_v with_o this_o present_a time_n but_o what_o you_o shall_v do_v for_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n you_o shall_v
strive_v glorious_o let_v we_o therefore_o so_o contend_v that_o we_o may_v all_o of_o we_o be_v crown_v let_v we_o run_v in_o the_o straight_a road_n the_o race_n that_o be_v incorruptible_a and_o let_v we_o in_o great_a number_n pass_v unto_o it_o and_o strive_v that_o we_o may_v receive_v the_o crown_n but_o and_o if_o we_o can_v all_o be_v crown_v let_v we_o come_v as_o near_o to_o it_o as_o we_o be_v able_a moreover_o we_o must_v consider_v that_o he_o who_o contend_v in_o a_o corruptible_a combat_n if_o he_o be_v find_v do_v any_o thing_n that_o be_v not_o fair_a be_v take_v away_o and_o scourge_v and_o cast_v out_o of_o the_o list_n what_o think_v you_o then_o that_o he_o shall_v suffer_v who_o do_v any_o thing_n that_o be_v not_o fit_v in_o the_o combat_n of_o immortality_n thus_o speak_v the_o prophet_n concern_v those_o who_o keep_v not_o their_o seal_n their_o worm_n shall_v not_o die_v 24_o and_o their_o fire_n shall_v not_o be_v quench_v and_o they_o shall_v be_v for_o a_o spectacle_n unto_o all_o flesh._n viii_o let_v we_o therefore_o repent_v whilst_o we_o be_v yet_o upon_o the_o earth_n for_o we_o be_v as_o clay_n in_o the_o hand_n of_o the_o artificer_n for_o as_o the_o potter_n if_o he_o make_v a_o vessel_n and_o it_o be_v distort_v in_o his_o hand_n or_o break_v again_o form_n it_o anew_o but_o if_o he_o have_v go_v so_o far_o as_o to_o throw_v depart_v out_o of_o this_o world_n we_o shall_v no_o long_o be_v able_a either_o to_o confess_v our_o sin_n or_o repent_v there_o in_o the_o other_o wherefore_o brethren_n let_v we_o do_v the_o will_n of_o the_o father_n and_o keep_v our_o flesh_n pure_a and_o observe_v the_o commandment_n of_o the_o lord_n secure_a to_o ourselves_o eternal_a life_n for_o the_o lord_n say_v in_o the_o gospel_n also_o shall_v in_o this_o flesh_n receive_v the_o reward_n let_v we_o therefore_o love_v one_o another_o that_o we_o may_v all_o attain_v unto_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n whilst_o we_o be_v in_o a_o condition_n of_o be_v heal_v let_v we_o deliver_v up_o our_o selveâ—_n to_o god_n our_o physician_n give_v our_o reward_n unto_o he_o and_o what_o reward_n shall_v we_o give_v repentance_n out_o of_o the_o creature_n of_o god_n think_v with_o myself_o how_o noble_a and_o beautiful_a it_o be_v and_o when_o i_o have_v walk_v a_o little_a i_o fall_v asleep_a and_o the_o spirit_n catch_v i_o away_o and_o carry_v i_o through_o a_o certain_a place_n towards_o the_o right-hand_a through_o which_o no_o man_n can_v pass_v it_o be_v a_o place_n among_o rock_n very_o steep_a and_o unpassable_a for_o water_n when_o i_o be_v past_o this_o place_n i_o come_v into_o a_o plain_a and_o there_o fall_v down_o upon_o my_o knee_n i_o begin_v to_o pray_v unto_o the_o lord_n and_o to_o confess_v my_o sin_n you_o shall_v find_v it_o empty_a as_o you_o stop_v it_o up_o so_o those_o empty_a prophet_n when_o they_o come_v among_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o just_a be_v find_v to_o be_v such_o as_o they_o come_v thus_o you_o see_v the_o life_n of_o each_o of_o these_o kind_n of_o prophet_n wherefore_o prove_v that_o man_n by_o his_o life_n and_o work_n who_o say_v that_o he_o have_v the_o holy_a spirit_n and_o believe_v the_o spirit_n which_o come_v from_o god_n and_o have_v power_n as_o such_o but_o believe_v not_o the_o earthly_a spirit_n in_o who_o there_o be_v no_o trust_n nor_o virtue_n but_o he_o be_v empty_a because_o he_o be_v from_o the_o devil_n hear_v now_o the_o similitude_n which_o i_o be_o about_o to_o speak_v unto_o thou_o take_v a_o stone_n and_o throw_v it_o up_o towards_o heaven_n or_o take_v a_o spout_n of_o water_n and_o mount_v it_o up_o thither-ward_n and_o see_v if_o thou_o can_v reach_v unto_o heaven_n sir_n say_v i_o how_o can_v this_o be_v do_v for_o neither_o of_o those_o thing_n which_o you_o have_v mention_v be_v possible_a to_o be_v do_v and_o he_o answer_v therefore_o as_o these_o thing_n can_v be_v do_v so_o be_v the_o earthly_a spirit_n without_o virtue_n and_o without_o effect_n understand_v yet_o far_o the_o power_n of_o the_o other_o in_o this_o similitude_n the_o grain_n of_o hail_n that_o drop_v down_o be_v exceed_o small_a and_o yet_o when_o they_o fall_v upon_o the_o head_n of_o a_o man_n how_o do_v they_o cause_v pain_n to_o it_o and_o again_o consider_v the_o dropping_n of_o a_o house_n how_o the_o little_a drop_n fall_v upon_o the_o earth_n work_v a_o hollow_a in_o the_o stone_n so_o in_o like_a manner_n the_o least_o thing_n which_o come_v from_o above_o and_o fall_v upon_o the_o earth_n have_v great_a force_n wherefore_o join_v thyself_o to_o this_o spirit_n which_o have_v power_n and_o depart_v from_o the_o other_o which_o be_v empty_a the_o twelve_o command_n of_o a_o twofold_a desire_n that_o the_o command_n of_o god_n be_v not_o impossible_a and_o that_o the_o devil_n be_v not_o to_o be_v fear_v by_o they_o that_o believe_v i._o again_o he_o say_v unto_o i_o lxxiu_o remove_v from_o thou_o all_o evil_a desire_n and_o put_v on_o all_o good_a and_o holy_a desire_n for_o have_v put_v on_o a_o good_a desire_n thou_o shall_v hate_v that_o which_o be_v evil_a and_o bridle_v it_o as_o thou_o will_v but_o a_o evil_a desire_n be_v dreadful_a and_o hard_o to_o be_v appease_v it_o be_v very_o horrible_a and_o wild_a and_o by_o its_o wildness_n consume_v men._n and_o especial_o if_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n shall_v chance_v to_o fall_v into_o it_o except_o he_o be_v very_o wise_a he_o shall_v be_v ruin_v by_o it_o for_o it_o destroy_v those_o who_o have_v not_o the_o garment_n of_o a_o good_a desire_n and_o engage_v they_o in_o the_o affair_n of_o this_o present_a world_n and_o deliver_v they_o unto_o death_n sir_n say_v i_o what_o be_v the_o work_n of_o a_o evil_a desire_n which_o shall_v bring_v man_n unto_o death_n show_v they_o to_o i_o that_o i_o may_v depart_v from_o they_o hear_v say_v he_o in_o what_o work_v a_o evil_a desire_n shall_v bring_v the_o servant_n of_o god_n unto_o death_n the_o spirit_n of_o all_o man_n be_v earthly_a and_o light_n and_o have_v no_o virtue_n and_o speak_v much_o i_o say_v how_o then_o shall_v a_o man_n be_v able_a to_o discern_v they_o consider_v what_o i_o be_o go_v to_o say_v concern_v both_o kind_n of_o vessel_n man_n and_o as_o i_o speak_v unto_o thou_o so_o shall_v thou_o prove_v the_o prophet_n of_o god_n and_o the_o false_a prophet_n and_o first_o try_v the_o man_n who_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n because_o the_o spirit_n which_o be_v from_o above_o be_v humble_a and_o quiet_a and_o depart_v from_o all_o wickedness_n and_o from_o the_o vain_a desire_n of_o the_o present_a world_n and_o make_v himself_o more_o humble_a than_o all_o man_n and_o answer_v to_o none_o when_o he_o be_v ask_v nor_o to_o every_o one_o single_o neither_o do_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n speak_v to_o a_o man_n when_o he_o will_v but_o speak_v when_o god_n please_v when_o therefore_o a_o man_n who_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n shall_v come_v into_o the_o church_n of_o the_o righteous_a who_o have_v the_o faith_n of_o god_n and_o they_o pray_v unto_o the_o lord_n then_o the_o holy_a angel_n of_o god_n fill_v that_o man_n with_o the_o bless_a spirit_n and_o he_o speak_v in_o the_o congregation_n as_o he_o be_v move_v by_o god_n thus_o therefore_o be_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n know_v because_o whosoever_o speak_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n speak_v as_o the_o lord_n will_n ii_o hear_v now_o concern_v the_o earthly_a spirit_n which_o be_v empty_a and_o foolish_a and_o without_o virtue_n and_o first_o of_o all_o the_o man_n who_o may_v be_v suppose_v to_o have_v this_o spirit_n exalt_v himself_o and_o desire_n to_o have_v the_o first_o seat_n and_o be_v wicked_a and_o full_a of_o word_n and_o spend_v his_o time_n in_o pleasure_n and_o in_o all_o manner_n of_o voluptuousness_n and_o receive_v the_o reward_n of_o his_o divination_n which_o if_o he_o receive_v not_o he_o do_v not_o divine_a although_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n may_v receive_v reward_n and_o divine_a but_o it_o become_v not_o the_o prophet_n of_o god_n so_o to_o do_v but_o it_o be_v a_o evil_a desire_n to_o covet_v another_o man_n wife_n or_o for_o a_o woman_n to_o covet_v another_o husband_n as_o also_o to_o desire_v the_o dainty_n of_o riches_n and_o multitude_n of_o superfluous_a meat_n and_o drunkenness_n and_o many_o delight_n for_o in_o much_o delicacy_n there_o be_v folly_n and_o many_o pleasure_n be_v needless_a to_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n such_o lust_a therefore_o be_v evil_a and_o pernicious_a which_o bring_v to_o death_n the_o servant_n of_o god_n for_o all_o such_o lust_a be_v from_o the_o devil_n whosoever_o therefore_o shall_v depart_v from_o all_o evil_a desire_n shall_v live_v unto_o god_n but_o they_o that_o be_v subject_a unto_o they_o shall_v die_v for_o ever_o for_o this_o evil_a lust_a be_v deadly_a do_v thou_o therefore_o put_v on_o the_o desire_n of_o shall_v serve_v he_o in_o do_v what_o thou_o thyself_o will_v do_v for_o if_o thou_o shall_v be_v subject_a to_o good_a desire_n and_o follow_v they_o thou_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o get_v the_o dominion_n over_o thy_o wicked_a lusting_n and_o they_o shall_v be_v subject_a to_o thou_o as_o thou_o will_v iii_o and_o i_o say_v sir_n i_o will_v know_v how_o i_o ought_v to_o serve_v that_o the_o rod_n of_o they_o and_o in_o the_o same_o order_n that_o every_o one_o have_v receive_v they_o be_v he_o call_v to_o he_o and_o restore_v his_o rod_n which_o when_o he_o have_v receive_v he_o apart_o other_o bring_v their_o rod_n two_o part_n dry_a and_o the_o three_o green_a and_o be_v also_o place_v by_o themselves_o other_o deliver_v up_o their_o rod_n yet_o less_o dry_a for_o there_o be_v but_o a_o very_a little_a to_o wit_n their_o top_n dry_a but_o they_o have_v cleft_n and_o these_o be_v set_v in_o like_a manner_n by_o themselves_o in_o the_o rod_n of_o other_o there_o be_v but_o a_o little_a green_a and_o the_o rest_n dry_a and_o these_o be_v set_v aside_o by_o themselves_o other_o come_v and_o bring_v their_o rod_n green_a as_o they_o have_v receive_v they_o and_o the_o great_a part_n bring_v their_o rod_n thus_o and_o these_o also_o be_v put_v apart_o by_o themselves_o other_o bring_v their_o rod_n not_o only_o green_a but_o full_a of_o branch_n and_o these_o be_v set_v aside_o be_v receive_v by_o the_o angel_n with_o great_a joy_n other_o bring_v their_o rod_n green_a with_o branch_n and_o those_o also_o full_a of_o fruit._n they_o who_o have_v such_o rod_n be_v very_o cheerful_a and_o the_o angel_n himself_o take_v great_a joy_n at_o they_o nor_o be_v the_o shepherd_n that_o stand_v with_o i_o less_o please_v with_o they_o ii_o than_o the_o they_o may_v grow_v green_a again_o i_o say_v unto_o he_o sir_n how_o can_v those_o dry_a rod_n ever_o grow_v green_a again_o he_o answer_v i_o that_o tree_n be_v a_o willow_n and_o always_o love_v neglect_v my_o part_n and_o they_o all_o come_v unto_o he_o every_o one_o in_o the_o rank_n in_o which_o he_o stand_v and_o give_v he_o their_o rod_n which_o have_v receive_v he_o plant_v every_o one_o of_o they_o in_o their_o several_a order_n and_o after_o he_o have_v plant_v they_o all_o he_o pour_v much_o water_n upon_o they_o insomuch_o that_o they_o be_v cover_v with_o water_n and_o do_v not_o appear_v above_o it_o and_o when_o he_o have_v water_v they_o he_o say_v unto_o i_o let_v we_o depart_v and_o after_o a_o little_a time_n we_o will_v return_v and_o visit_v they_o for_o he_o who_o create_v this_o tree_n will_v have_v all_o those_o live_v that_o receive_v rod_n from_o it_o and_o i_o hope_v now_o that_o these_o rod_n be_v thus_o water_v many_o of_o they_o receive_v in_o cover_v the_o plain_n and_o the_o mountain_n and_o all_o the_o earth_n be_v the_o law_n of_o god_n publish_v throughout_o the_o whole_a world_n now_o by_o this_o law_n the_o son_n of_o god_n be_v preach_v to_o all_o the_o end_n of_o the_o earth_n the_o people_n that_o stand_v under_o its_o shadow_n be_v those_o which_o have_v hear_v his_o preach_v and_o believe_v the_o great_a and_o good_a angel_n which_o you_o see_v be_v michael_n who_o have_v the_o power_n over_o this_o people_n and_o govern_v they_o for_o he_o have_v plant_v the_o law_n in_o the_o heart_n of_o those_o who_o have_v believe_v and_o therefore_o he_o visit_v they_o to_o who_o he_o have_v give_v the_o law_n to_o see_v if_o they_o have_v keep_v it_o and_o he_o examine_v every_o one_o rod_n and_o of_o those_o many_o that_o be_v weaken_v for_o those_o rod_n be_v the_o law_n of_o the_o lord_n then_o he_o discern_v all_o those_o who_o have_v not_o keep_v the_o law_n know_v the_o place_n of_o every_o one_o of_o they_o i_o say_v unto_o he_o sir_n why_o do_v he_o send_v away_o some_o to_o the_o tower_n and_o leave_v other_o here_o to_o you_o he_o reply_v those_o who_o have_v transgress_v the_o law_n which_o they_o receive_v from_o he_o be_v leave_v in_o my_o power_n that_o they_o may_v repent_v of_o their_o sin_n but_o they_o who_o satisfy_v the_o law_n and_o keep_v it_o be_v under_o his_o power_n but_o who_o then_o say_v i_o be_v those_o who_o go_v into_o the_o tower_n crown_v he_o reply_v all_o such_o as_o have_v strive_v with_o the_o devil_n have_v overcome_v he_o be_v crown_v and_o they_o be_v those_o who_o have_v suffer_v injury_n that_o they_o may_v keep_v the_o law_n but_o they_o who_o give_v up_o their_o rod_n green_a and_o with_o young_a branch_n but_o without_o fruit_n have_v indeed_o endure_v trouble_v for_o the_o same_o law_n but_o have_v not_o suffer_v death_n but_o neither_o have_v they_o deny_v their_o holy_a law_n they_o who_o deliver_v up_o their_o rod_n green_a as_o they_o receive_v they_o be_v those_o who_o be_v modest_a and_o just_a and_o have_v live_v with_o a_o very_a pure_a mind_n and_o keep_v the_o commandment_n of_o god_n the_o rest_n thou_o shall_v know_v when_o i_o shall_v have_v consider_v those_o rod_n which_o i_o have_v plant_v and_o water_v iv._o after_o a_o few_o day_n we_o return_v and_o in_o the_o same_o place_n stand_v that_o great_a angel_n and_o i_o stand_v by_o he_o then_o he_o say_v unto_o i_o gird_v thyself_o with_o a_o d._n napkin_n and_o serve_v i_o and_o i_o gird_v myself_o with_o a_o clean_a towel_n which_o be_v make_v of_o coarse_a therefore_o they_o be_v black_a because_o their_o kind_n be_v wicked_a of_o the_o second_o mountain_n which_o be_v smooth_a be_v the_o feign_a hypocrite_n who_o have_v believe_v and_o the_o teacher_n of_o naughtiness_n and_o these_o be_v next_o to_o the_o forego_n which_o have_v not_o in_o they_o the_o fruit_n of_o righteousness_n for_o as_o their_o mountain_n be_v barren_a and_o without_o fruit_n so_o also_o such_o kind_n of_o man_n have_v indeed_o the_o name_n of_o christian_n but_o be_v empty_a of_o faith_n nor_o be_v there_o any_o fruit_n of_o the_o truth_n in_o they_o nevertheless_o there_o be_v room_n leave_v to_o they_o for_o repentance_n if_o they_o shall_v sudden_o pursue_v it_o but_o if_o they_o shall_v delay_v they_o also_o shall_v be_v partaker_n of_o death_n with_o the_o forego_n kind_a i_o say_v sir_n why_o be_v there_o room_n leave_v to_o those_o for_o repentance_n and_o not_o to_o the_o forego_v kind_a see_v their_o sin_n be_v well_o nigh_o the_o same_o there_o be_v therefore_o say_v he_o to_o these_o a_o return_n unto_o life_n because_o they_o have_v not_o blaspheme_v their_o lord_n nor_o betray_v the_o servant_n of_o god_n but_o by_o their_o desire_n of_o gain_n have_v deceive_v man_n lead_v they_o according_a to_o the_o desire_n of_o sinner_n wherefore_o they_o shall_v suffer_v for_o this_o thing_n howbeit_o there_o be_v still_o leave_v they_o room_n for_o repentance_n because_o they_o have_v not_o speak_v any_o thing_n wicked_o against_o their_o lord_n xx._n they_o who_o be_v of_o the_o three_o mountain_n which_o have_v thorn_n and_o bramble_n be_v those_o who_o believe_v but_o be_v some_o of_o they_o rich_a other_o take_v up_o with_o many_o affair_n the_o bramble_n be_v their_o riches_n the_o thorn_n those_o affair_n in_o which_o they_o be_v engage_v now_o they_o who_o be_v entangle_v in_o much_o business_n and_o in_o diversity_n of_o affair_n join_v not_o themselves_o to_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n but_o wander_v be_v call_v away_o by_o those_o affair_n with_o which_o they_o be_v choke_v and_o so_o they_o which_o be_v rich_a with_o difficulty_n yield_v themselves_o to_o the_o b._n conversation_n of_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n fear_v lest_o any_o thing_n shall_v be_v ask_v of_o they_o these_o therefore_o shall_v hardly_o enter_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n for_o as_o man_n walk_v with_o difficulty_n barefoot_a over_o thorn_n even_o so_o these_o kind_n of_o man_n shall_v scarce_o enter_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n nevertheless_o there_o be_v afford_v to_o all_o these_o a_o return_n unto_o repentance_n if_o so_o be_v they_o shall_v quick_o return_v to_o it_o that_o because_o in_o their_o former_a day_n they_o have_v neglect_v to_o work_v in_o the_o time_n that_o be_v to_o come_v they_o may_v do_v some_o good_n if_o therefore_o have_v repent_v they_o shall_v do_v the_o work_n of_o righteousness_n they_o shall_v live_v but_o if_o they_o shall_v continue_v in_o their_o evil_a course_n they_o shall_v be_v deliver_v to_o those_o woman_n that_o will_v take_v away_o their_o life_n xxi_o as_o for_o the_o four_o mountain_n which_o have_v much_o grass_n the_o upper_a part_n of_o which_o be_v green_a but_o the_o rest_n dry_a and_o some_o of_o which_o be_v touch_v with_o the_o heat_n of_o the_o sun_n be_v wither_v it_o denote_v the_o doubtful_a who_o have_v believe_v and_o some_o other_o who_o carry_v the_o lord_n in_o their_o tongue_n but_o have_v he_o not_o in_o their_o heart_n therefore_o their_o grass_n be_v dry_a and_o without_o root_n because_o they_o live_v only_o in_o word_n but_o their_o work_n be_v dead_a these_o therefore_o be_v neither_o dead_a nor_o live_v and_o withal_o be_v doubtful_a for_o the_o doubtful_a be_v neither_o green_a nor_o dry_a that_o be_v neither_o dead_a nor_o alive_a for_o as_o their_o grass_n dry_v away_o at_o the_o sight_n of_o the_o sun_n so_o the_o doubtful_a as_o soon_o as_o they_o hear_v of_o persecution_n and_o fear_v inconvenience_n return_v to_o their_o idol_n and_o again_o serve_v they_o and_o be_v ashamed_a to_o bear_v the_o name_n of_o their_o lord_n this_o kind_n of_o man_n then_o be_v neither_o dead_a nor_o alive_a nevertheless_o these_o also_o may_v live_v if_o they_o shall_v present_o repent_v but_o if_o not_o they_o shall_v be_v deliver_v to_o those_o woman_n who_o shall_v take_v away_o their_o life_n xxii_o as_o concern_v the_o five_o mountain_n that_o be_v craggy_a and_o yet_o have_v green_a grass_n they_o be_v of_o this_o kind_n who_o have_v believe_v and_o be_v faithful_a indeed_o but_o believe_v with_o difficulty_n and_o be_v bold_a and_o self-conceited_a that_o will_v be_v think_v to_o know_v all_o thing_n but_o real_o know_v nothing_o wherefore_o by_o reason_n of_o this_o confidence_n knowledge_n be_v depart_v from_o they_o and_o a_o rash_a presumption_n be_v enter_v into_o they_o but_o they_o carry_v themselves_o high_a and_o as_o prudent_a man_n and_o though_o they_o be_v fool_n yet_o will_v seem_v to_o be_v teacher_n now_o by_o reason_n of_o this_o folly_n many_o of_o they_o whilst_o they_o magnify_v themselves_o be_v become_v vain_a and_o empty_a for_o boldness_n and_o vain_a confidence_n be_v a_o great_a seducer_n wherefore_o many_o of_o these_o be_v cast_v away_o but_o other_o acknowledge_v their_o error_n have_v repent_v and_o submit_v themselves_o to_o those_o who_o be_v know_v and_o to_o all_o the_o rest_n of_o this_o kind_n there_o be_v repentance_n allow_v forasmuch_o as_o they_o be_v not_o so_o much_o wicked_a as_o foolish_a and_o void_a of_o understanding_n if_o these_o therefore_o shall_v repent_v they_o shall_v live_v unto_o god_n but_o if_o not_o they_o shall_v dwell_v with_o those_o woman_n who_o shall_v exercise_v their_o wickedness_n upon_o they_o xxiii_o for_o what_o concern_v the_o six_o mountain_n have_v great_a and_o lesser_a cleft_n they_o be_v such_o as_o have_v believe_v but_o those_o in_o which_o be_v the_o lesser_a cleft_n be_v they_o who_o have_v have_v controversy_n among_o themselves_o and_o by_o reason_n of_o their_o quarrel_n languish_v in_o the_o faith_n nevertheless_o many_o of_o these_o have_v repent_v and_o so_o will_v the_o rest_n when_o they_o shall_v hear_v my_o command_n for_o their_o controversy_n be_v but_o small_a and_o they_o will_v easy_o return_v unto_o repentance_n but_o those_o who_o have_v the_o great_a cleft_n will_v be_v as_o stiff_a stone_n mindful_a of_o grudge_n and_o offence_n and_o practise_v anger_n among_o themselves_o these_o therefore_o be_v cast_v from_o the_o tower_n and_o reject_v to_o be_v put_v into_o its_o building_n therefore_o this_o kind_n of_o man_n shall_v hardly_o live_v our_o god_n and_o lord_n who_o rule_v over_o all_o thing_n and_o have_v power_n over_o all_o his_o creature_n will_v not_o remember_v our_o offence_n but_o be_v easy_o appease_v by_o those_o who_o confess_v their_o sin_n but_o man_n be_v languid_a mortal_a infirm_a and_o full_a of_o sin_n persevere_fw-la in_o his_o anger_n against_o man_n as_o if_o it_o be_v in_o his_o power_n to_o save_v or_o to_o destroy_v he_o but_o i_o as_o the_o angel_n who_o be_o set_v over_o your_o repentance_n admonish_v you_o that_o whosoever_o among_o you_o have_v any_o such_o purpose_n he_o will_v lay_v it_o aside_o and_o return_v unto_o repentance_n and_o the_o lord_n will_v provide_v remedy_n for_o your_o former_a sin_n if_o you_o shall_v purge_v yourselves_o from_o this_o evil_a spirit_n but_o if_o you_o shall_v not_o do_v it_o you_o shall_v be_v deliver_v to_o he_o unto_o death_n xxiv_o as_o for_o the_o seven_o mountain_n in_o which_o the_o grass_n be_v green_a and_o flourish_a and_o the_o whole_a mountain_n fruitful_a and_o all_o kind_n of_o cattle_n feed_v upon_o the_o grass_n of_o it_o and_o the_o more_o the_o grass_n be_v eat_v so_o much_o the_o more_o it_o flourish_v they_o be_v such_o as_o believe_v and_o be_v always_o good_a and_o upright_a and_o without_o any_o difference_n among_o themselves_o but_o still_o rejoice_v in_o all_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n have_v put_v on_o the_o spirit_n of_o these_o virgin_n and_o be_v always_o ready_a to_o show_v mercy_n to_o all_o man_n and_o easy_o give_v to_o all_o man_n of_o their_o labour_n without_o upbraid_v and_o without_o deliberation_n wherefore_o the_o lord_n see_v their_o simplicity_n and_o infancy_n innocence_n have_v increase_v they_o in_o the_o work_v of_o their_o hand_n and_o give_v they_o grace_n in_o all_o their_o work_n but_o i_o who_o be_o appoint_v over_o your_o repentance_n exhort_v you_o that_o as_o many_o as_o be_v of_o this_o kind_n will_v continue_v in_o the_o same_o purpose_n that_o your_o seed_n may_v not_o be_v root_v out_o for_o ever_o for_o the_o lord_n have_v try_v you_o and_o write_v you_o into_o our_o number_n and_o all_o your_o seed_n shall_v dwell_v with_o the_o son_n of_o god_n for_o you_o be_v all_o
of_o his_o spirit_n xxv_o as_o concern_v the_o eight_o mountain_n in_o which_o be_v a_o great_a many_o spring_n by_o which_o every_o kind_n of_o all_o the_o creature_n of_o god_n be_v water_v they_o be_v such_o as_o have_v believe_v the_o apostle_n which_o the_o lord_n send_v into_o all_o the_o world_n to_o preach_v and_o some_o teacher_n who_o have_v preach_v and_o teach_v pure_o and_o sincere_o and_o have_v not_o in_o the_o least_o yield_v to_o any_o evil_a desire_n but_o have_v constant_o walk_v in_o righteousness_n and_o truth_n these_o therefore_o have_v their_o conversation_n among_o the_o angel_n xxvi_o again_o as_o for_o what_o concern_v the_o nine_o mountain_n which_o be_v desert_n and_o full_a of_o serpent_n they_o be_v such_o as_o have_v believe_v but_o have_v many_o stain_n these_o be_v such_o minister_n as_o discharge_v their_o ministry_n amiss_o ravish_v away_o the_o good_n of_o the_o widow_n and_o fatherless_a and_o serve_v themselves_o not_o other_o out_o of_o those_o thing_n which_o they_o have_v receive_v these_o if_o they_o continue_v in_o this_o covetousness_n shall_v deliver_v themselves_o unto_o death_n nor_o shall_v there_o be_v any_o hope_n of_o life_n for_o they_o but_o if_o they_o shall_v be_v convert_v and_o shall_v discharge_v their_o ministry_n sincere_o they_o may_v live_v as_o for_o those_o which_o be_v find_v rough_a they_o be_v such_o as_o have_v deny_v the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o not_o return_v again_o to_o the_o lord_n but_o have_v become_v savage_a and_o wild_a not_o apply_v themselves_o to_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n but_o be_v separate_v from_o they_o have_v for_o the_o sake_n of_o a_o little_a anxiety_n lose_v their_o life_n for_o as_o a_o vine_n that_o be_v forsake_v in_o a_o hedge_n and_o never_o dress_v perish_v and_o be_v choke_v by_o the_o weed_n and_o in_o time_n become_v wild_a and_o cease_v to_o be_v useful_a to_o its_o lord_n so_o this_o kind_n of_o man_n despair_v of_o themselves_o and_o be_v make_v sour_a have_v begin_v to_o be_v unprofitable_a to_o their_o lord_n howbeit_o to_o these_o there_o be_v at_o last_o repentance_n allow_v if_o they_o shall_v not_o be_v find_v from_o their_o heart_n to_o have_v deny_v christ_n but_o if_o any_o of_o these_o shall_v be_v find_v to_o have_v deny_v he_o from_o his_o heart_n i_o can_v tell_v whether_o such_o a_o one_o can_v attain_v unto_o life_n and_o i_o say_v therefore_o that_o if_o in_o these_o day_n any_o one_o have_v deny_v he_o shall_v return_v unto_o repentance_n for_o it_o can_v be_v that_o any_o one_o who_o now_o deny_v the_o lord_n can_v afterward_o attain_v unto_o salvation_n nevertheless_o repentance_n be_v propose_v unto_o they_o who_o have_v former_o deny_v but_o he_o who_o will_v repent_v must_v hasten_v on_o his_o repentance_n before_o the_o building_n of_o this_o tower_n be_v finish_v or_o if_o not_o he_o shall_v be_v deliver_v by_o those_o woman_n unto_o death_n but_o they_o that_o be_v maim_v be_v the_o deceitful_a and_o those_o who_o mix_v one_o with_o another_o these_o be_v the_o serpent_n that_o you_o see_v in_o that_o mountain_n for_o as_o the_o poison_n of_o serpent_n be_v deadly_a unto_o man_n so_o the_o word_n of_o such_o person_n infect_v and_o destroy_v men._n they_o be_v therefore_o maim_v in_o their_o faith_n by_o reason_n of_o that_o kind_n of_o life_n in_o which_o they_o lead_v howbeit_o some_o of_o they_o have_v repent_v have_v be_v save_v and_o so_o shall_v other_o of_o the_o same_o kind_n be_v save_v if_o they_o shall_v repent_v but_o if_o not_o they_o shall_v die_v by_o those_o woman_n who_o power_n and_o force_n they_o enjoy_v xxvii_o for_o what_o concern_v the_o ten_o mountain_n in_o which_o be_v the_o tree_n cover_v the_o cattle_n they_o be_v such_o as_o have_v believe_v and_o some_o of_o they_o be_v bishop_n that_o be_v governor_n of_o the_o church_n other_o be_v such_o stone_n as_o have_v not_o feign_o but_o with_o a_o cheerful_a mind_n entertain_v the_o servant_n of_o god_n then_o such_o as_o have_v be_v set_v over_o inferior_a ministry_n and_o have_v protect_v the_o poor_a and_o the_o widow_n and_o have_v always_o keep_v a_o chaste_a conversation_n therefore_o they_o also_o be_v protect_v by_o the_o lord_n whosoever_o shall_v do_v on_o this_o wise_a be_v honour_v with_o the_o lord_n and_o their_o place_n be_v among_o the_o angel_n if_o they_o shall_v continue_v to_o obey_v the_o lord_n even_o unto_o the_o end_n xxviii_o as_o to_o the_o eleven_o mountain_n in_o which_o be_v tree_n load_v with_o several_a sort_n of_o fruit_n they_o be_v such_o as_o have_v believe_v and_o suffer_v death_n for_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o have_v endure_v with_o a_o ready_a mind_n and_o have_v give_v up_o their_o life_n with_o all_o their_o heart_n and_o i_o say_v why_o then_o sir_n have_v all_o these_o fruit_n but_o some_o fair_a than_o other_o harken_v say_v he_o whosoever_o have_v suffer_v for_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v esteem_v honourable_a by_o the_o lord_n and_o all_o their_o offence_n be_v blot_v out_o because_o they_o have_v suffer_v death_n for_o the_o name_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n hear_v now_o why_o their_o fruit_n be_v different_a and_o some_o of_o they_o excel_v other_o they_o who_o be_v bring_v before_o magistrate_n and_o be_v ask_v deny_v not_o the_o lord_n but_o suffer_v with_o a_o ready_a mind_n these_o be_v more_o honourable_a with_o the_o lord_n the_o fruit_n therefore_o that_o be_v the_o most_o fair_a be_v these_o but_o they_o who_o be_v fearful_a and_o doubtful_a and_o have_v deliberate_v with_o themselves_o whether_o they_o shall_v confess_v or_o deny_v christ_n and_o yet_o have_v suffer_v their_o fruit_n be_v small_a because_o that_o this_o thought_n come_v into_o their_o heart_n for_o it_o be_v a_o wicked_a and_o evil_a thought_n for_o a_o servant_n to_o deliberate_v whether_o he_o shall_v deny_v his_o master_n take_v heed_n therefore_o you_o who_o have_v such_o thought_n that_o this_o mind_n continue_v not_o in_o you_o and_o you_o die_v unto_o god_n but_o you_o who_o suffer_v death_n for_o his_o name_n sake_n aught_o to_o honour_v the_o lord_n that_o he_o have_v esteem_v you_o worthy_a to_o bear_v his_o name_n and_o that_o you_o shall_v be_v deliver_v from_o all_o your_o sin_n and_o why_o therefore_o do_v you_o not_o rather_o esteem_v yourselves_o happy_a why_o do_v you_o not_o think_v that_o if_o any_o one_o among_o you_o suffer_v he_o perform_v a_o great_a work_n for_o the_o lord_n give_v you_o life_n and_o you_o understand_v it_o not_o for_o your_o offence_n do_v oppress_v you_o and_o have_v you_o not_o suffer_v for_o his_o name_n sake_n you_o have_v now_o be_v dead_a unto_o the_o lord_n wherefore_o i_o speak_v this_o unto_o you_o who_o deliberate_v whether_o you_o shall_v confess_v or_o deny_v he_o confess_v that_o you_o have_v the_o lord_n for_o your_o god_n least_o at_o any_o time_n deny_v he_o you_o be_v deliver_v over_o into_o bond_n for_o if_o all_o nation_n punish_v their_o servant_n which_o deny_v their_o master_n what_o think_v you_o that_o the_o lord_n will_v do_v unto_o you_o who_o have_v the_o power_n of_o all_o thing_n remove_v therefore_o out_o of_o your_o heart_n these_o doubt_n that_o you_o may_v live_v for_o ever_o unto_o god_n xxix_o as_o for_o the_o twelve_o mountain_n which_o be_v white_a they_o be_v such_o as_o have_v believe_v like_o sincere_a child_n into_o who_o thought_n there_o never_o come_v any_o malice_n nor_o have_v they_o ever_o know_v what_o sin_n be_v but_o have_v always_o continue_v in_o their_o integrity_n wherefore_o this_o kind_n of_o man_n shall_v without_o all_o doubt_n inherit_v the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n because_o they_o have_v never_o in_o any_o thing_n defile_v the_o commandment_n of_o god_n but_o have_v continue_v with_o sincerity_n in_o the_o same_o condition_n all_o the_o day_n of_o their_o life_n whosoever_o therefore_o say_v he_o shall_v continue_v as_o if_o therefore_o we_o shall_v desire_v to_o serve_v god_n and_o mammon_n it_o will_v be_v without_o profit_n to_o we_o 26_o for_o what_o will_v it_o profit_v we_o if_o we_o shall_v gain_v the_o whole_a world_n and_o lose_v our_o own_o soul_n now_o this_o world_n and_o that_o to_o come_v be_v two_o enemy_n this_o call_v we_o to_o adultery_n and_o corruption_n to_o covetousness_n and_o to_o deceit_n but_o that_o command_v we_o to_o renounce_v these_o thing_n we_o can_v therefore_o be_v the_o friend_n of_o both_o but_o we_o must_v resolve_v by_o forsake_v one_o to_o enjoy_v the_o other_o and_o we_o think_v that_o it_o be_v better_a to_o hate_v the_o present_a thing_n as_o little_a short-lived_a and_o corruptible_a and_o to_o love_v those_o which_o be_v to_o come_v which_o be_v true_o good_a and_o incorruptible_a for_o if_o we_o do_v the_o will_n of_o christ_n we_o shall_v find_v rest_n but_o if_o not_o nothing_o shall_v deliver_v we_o from_o eternal_a punishment_n if_o we_o shall_v disobey_v his_o command_n for_o even_o thus_o say_v the_o scripture_n in_o the_o prophet_n ezekiel_n 20._o if_o noah_n job_n and_o daniel_n shall_v rise_v up_o they_o shall_v not_o deliver_v their_o child_n in_o captivity_n wherefore_o if_o such_o righteous_a man_n be_v not_o able_a by_o their_o righteousness_n to_o deliver_v their_o child_n how_o can_v we_o hope_v to_o enter_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n except_o we_o keep_v our_o baptism_n holy_a and_o undefiled_a or_o who_o shall_v be_v our_o advocate_n unless_o we_o shall_v be_v find_v to_o have_v do_v what_o be_v holy_a and_o just_a vii_o let_v we_o therefore_o my_o brethren_n contend_v with_o all_o earnestness_n know_v that_o we_o we_o be_v now_o call_v to_o the_o combat_n and_o that_o many_o go_v long_a voyage_n
