his_o goodness_n in_o reprove_v we_o for_o our_o conviction_n he_o do_v not_o inform_v we_o of_o our_o ability_n save_o to_o believe_v for_o our_o conversion_n but_o methinks_v i_o see_v they_o return_v upon_o we_o again_o and_o make_v a_o new_a assault_n by_o another_o argument_n with_o which_o they_o thus_o oppose_v we_o or_o rather_o the_o truth_n and_o power_n of_o god_n grace_n why_o do_v god_n command_v entreat_v &_o beseech_v the_o creature_n to_o believe_v if_o the_o creature_n have_v no_o power_n of_o himself_o to_o believe_v ans_fw-fr passage_n to_o this_o purpose_n which_o we_o fiind_v in_o scripture_n do_v acquaint_v we_o with_o god_n goodness_n to_o the_o creature_n in_o his_o reveal_v will_n and_o the_o creature_n duty_n towards_o god_n they_o do_v not_o acquaint_v believe_v delight_n in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n of_o the_o old_a and_o new_a testament_n therefore_o you_o shall_v find_v that_o man_n that_o fall_v off_o to_o these_o opinion_n present_o they_o slight_v the_o scripture_n and_o either_o whole_o deny_v the_o word_n of_o god_n or_o else_o they_o overthrow_v the_o truth_n of_o it_o by_o allegorise_v those_o thing_n that_o have_v a_o plain_a and_o fond_a notion_n they_o delude_v poor_a soul_n that_o think_v they_o be_v spiritual_a man_n and_o that_o great_a thing_n be_v reveal_v to_o they_o which_o be_v not_o discover_v to_o other_o saint_n when_o there_o be_v nothing_o but_o horrid_a antichristianisme_n or_o atheism_n lie_v at_o the_o bottom_n of_o their_o heart_n which_o shall_v be_v evident_a when_o according_a to_o the_o one_o reason_n why_o so_o many_o fall_n off_o from_o the_o truth_n to_o these_o horrid_a opinion_n be_v from_o a_o principle_n of_o spiritual_a pride_n some_o of_o these_o thought_n that_o they_o have_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o knowledge_n wisdom_n and_o understanding_n and_o that_o they_o understand_v as_o much_o of_o the_o doctrine_n of_o christ_n and_o mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n as_o be_v necessary_a that_o they_o have_v hear_v as_o much_o of_o the_o doctrine_n of_o justification_n as_o any_o can_v preach_v of_o it_o and_o of_o the_o resurrection_n as_o any_o can_v speak_v they_o know_v as_o they_o suppose_v what_o this_o man_n speak_v and_o what_o the_o other_o preach_v what_o this_o man_n judgement_n be_v what_o author_n do_v write_v and_o they_o know_v perfect_o as_o they_o imagine_v whatsoever_o lie_v in_o the_o scripture_n to_o be_v embrace_v for_o truth_n and_o by_o their_o pride_n do_v surfeit_v of_o their_o knowledge_n suppose_v that_o they_o know_v all_o point_n of_o the_o gospel_n when_o in_o deed_n and_o in_o truth_n they_o know_v nothing_o of_o the_o gospel_n save_o spiritual_o or_o practical_o so_o that_o as_o the_o people_n of_o israel_n come_v to_o loath_a manna_n and_o lust_v after_o other_o food_n so_o these_o be_v puff_v up_o with_o spiritual_a pride_n begin_v to_o loathe_v the_o heavenly_a manna_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o disesteem_v it_o for_o the_o plainness_n and_o simplicity_n that_o be_v in_o it_o and_o nothing_o now_o will_v please_v they_o but_o new_a fancy_n therefore_o they_o must_v have_v sermon_n dress_v in_o another_o fashion_n new_o cook_v new_a notion_n and_o new_a conceit_n and_o any_o thing_n that_o be_v new_a please_v they_o better_o than_o the_o old_a and_o ancient_a truth_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n but_o when_o god_n teach_v a_o man_n to_o understand_v the_o gospel_n aright_o the_o more_o he_o know_v the_o gospel_n the_o more_o he_o see_v his_o ignorance_n of_o the_o gospel_n â—_o that_o man_n see_v he_o never_o learn_v the_o doctrine_n of_o justification_n full_o that_o man_n see_v that_o hâ—â—_n have_v not_o sufficient_o learn_v the_o doctrine_n oâ—_n sanctification_n this_o man_n look_v not_o to_o that_o which_o be_v evil_a he_o wise_o conclude_v i_o have_v not_o sufficient_o learn_v the_o doctrine_n of_o sanctification_n when_o he_o find_v sadness_n in_o his_o spirit_n o_o say_v he_o there_o be_v more_o in_o the_o gospel_n concern_v the_o spirit_n of_o joy_n and_o consolation_n than_o i_o have_v attain_v to_o when_o he_o read_v sundry_a enigmatical_a and_o difficult_a place_n of_o the_o prophet_n and_o in_o the_o revelation_n and_o have_v not_o attain_v to_o the_o spiritual_a meaning_n of_o they_o o_o say_v he_o i_o be_o not_o sufficient_o acquaint_v with_o the_o truth_n which_o lie_v hide_v in_o the_o word_n though_o i_o may_v have_v knowledge_n enough_o to_o carry_v i_o to_o heaven_n yet_o i_o be_o very_o ignorant_a of_o many_o truth_n of_o christ_n thus_o a_o man_n that_o true_o live_v the_o life_n of_o faith_n he_o be_v not_o puff_v up_o as_o these_o be_v that_o fall_v to_o these_o hideous_a and_o blasphemous_a notion_n and_o opinion_n hab._n 2._o he_o that_o be_v lift_v up_o his_o heart_n be_v not_o upright_o but_o the_o just_a shall_v live_v by_o his_o faith_n you_o shall_v find_v that_o

spirit_n of_o joy_n in_o the_o people_n of_o god_n for_o there_o can_v be_v no_o cause_n of_o rejoice_v to_o the_o saint_n but_o in_o this_o assurance_n that_o their_o sin_n be_v pardon_v that_o they_o be_v in_o covenant_n with_o god_n that_o god_n have_v love_v they_o from_o eternity_n will_v love_v they_o to_o eternity_n and_o preserve_v they_o in_o happiness_n with_o himself_o therefore_o you_o that_o true_o believe_v this_o doctrine_n rejoice_v in_o it_o and_o suffer_v not_o the_o scoff_a enemy_n of_o this_o doctrine_n to_o draw_v you_o from_o it_o and_o so_o from_o the_o comfort_n
