then_o afterward_o dissolve_v it_o now_o christ_n be_v no_o more_o in_o the_o body_n but_o he_o be_v now_o in_o the_o spirit_n this_o be_v a_o gross_a mistake_n christ_n a_o dangerous_a error_n that_o overthrow_v the_o foundation_n if_o christ_n do_v assume_v a_o body_n than_o he_o be_v not_o man_n but_o the_o scripture_n say_v he_o take_v our_o nature_n he_o take_v not_o the_o nature_n of_o angel_n but_o he_o take_v the_o nature_n of_o man_n to_o take_v up_o a_o body_n be_v not_o to_o take_v up_o the_o nature_n of_o man_n but_o he_o take_v our_o nature_n a_o soul_n and_o body_n together_o humane_a soul_n and_o body_n that_o be_v the_o nature_n of_o man_n he_o take_v a_o body_n into_o union_n with_o the_o second_o person_n for_o so_o it_o be_v not_o only_o a_o body_n that_o christ_n take_v up_o but_o a_o soul_n too_o my_o soul_n be_v heavy_a to_o death_n and_o the_o soul_n of_o christ_n be_v make_v a_o offering_n for_o sin_n so_o that_o remember_v this_o how_o true_a faith_n must_v look_v upon_o christ_n first_o as_o lord_n and_o second_o as_o man_n as_o one_o that_o take_v our_o nature_n soul_n and_o body_n into_o union_n with_o himself_o second_o man_n i_o shall_v show_v you_o that_o there_o be_v a_o necessity_n that_o every_o man_n and_o woman_n that_o expect_v salvation_n by_o christ_n shall_v believe_v that_o he_o take_v our_o nature_n upon_o he_o wicked_a man_n can_v perform_v the_o action_n of_o the_o live_a that_o god_n call_v for_o in_o that_o ordinance_n they_o can_v eat_v and_o drink_v spiritual_o they_o may_v eat_v the_o bread_n and_o drink_v the_o wine_n but_o they_o can_v eat_v the_o flesh_n of_o christ_n and_o drink_v the_o blood_n of_o christ_n if_o a_o wicked_a man_n he_o can_v eat_v spiritual_o and_o so_o he_o prophane_v the_o ordinance_n the_o body_n of_o christ_n and_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n he_o become_v guilty_a of_o it_o and_o the_o apostle_n say_v he_o eat_v his_o own_o damnation_n if_o he_o can_v discern_v how_o they_o set_v up_o their_o own_o rule_n above_o god_n rule_n which_o be_v a_o provocation_n to_o christ_n and_o he_o will_v not_o bear_v with_o such_o you_o may_v read_v the_o second_o and_o there_o be_v no_o room_n for_o christ_n and_o for_o the_o most_o part_n there_o be_v in_o such_o a_o soul_n a_o kind_n of_o loathe_v the_o truth_n of_o christ_n wherever_o you_o find_v man_n invention_n exalt_v there_o you_o shall_v find_v a_o kind_n of_o loathe_v in_o such_o a_o soul_n of_o the_o pure_a and_o sincere_a truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n the_o bread_n of_o life_n be_v no_o long_o sweet_a with_o they_o and_o the_o water_n of_o life_n have_v no_o relish_n with_o they_o and_o when_o it_o come_v to_o this_o christ_n will_v not_o stay_v but_o withdraw_v his_o spiritual_a presence_n from_o they_o as_o he_o do_v his_o bodily_a presence_n from_o the_o scribe_n and_o pharisee_n three_o christ_n will_v withdraw_v from_o such_o a_o people_n because_o for_o the_o most_o part_n they_o be_v desperate_a enemy_n and_o persecutor_n of_o christ_n and_o of_o his_o people_n and_o of_o his_o truth_n so_o it_o be_v with_o the_o scribe_n and_o pharisee_n christ_n have_v not_o such_o enemy_n in_o all_o the_o world_n as_o they_o be_v because_o they_o be_v most_o zealous_a for_o their_o own_o inventioon_n they_o decline_v the_o rule_n and_o set_v up_o their_o own_o rule_n and_o therefore_o they_o prove_v desperate_a enemy_n to_o christ_n paul_n make_v a_o acknowledgement_n of_o it_o when_o christ_n come_v to_o open_v his_o eye_n and_o do_v tell_v you_o that_o that_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o his_o drive_v on_o that_o trade_n of_o persecute_v the_o saint_n with_o so_o much_o earnestness_n because_o he_o be_v so_o zealous_a for_o the_o tradition_n of_o man_n in_o phil._n 3._o 6._o you_o may_v see_v there_o what_o he_o say_v be_v the_o cause_n of_o his_o persecute_v the_o saint_n concern_v zeal_n persecute_v the_o church_n touch_v the_o righteousness_n which_o be_v in_o the_o law_n blameless_a and_o so_o in_o gal._n 1._o 13_o 14._o for_o you_o have_v hear_v of_o my_o conversation_n in_o time_n past_a in_o the_o jew_n religion_n how_o that_o beyond_o measure_n i_o persecute_v the_o church_n of_o god_n and_o waste_v it_o ver._n 14._o and_o profit_v in_o the_o jew_n religion_n above_o many_o my_o equal_n in_o my_o own_o nation_n be_v more_o zealous_a of_o the_o tradition_n of_o my_o father_n the_o zeal_n which_o he_o have_v for_o the_o tradition_n of_o man_n be_v that_o which_o carry_v he_o on_o to_o persecute_v the_o christian_n with_o so_o much_o violence_n and_o many_o time_n it_o be_v so_o that_o they_o which_o do_v most_o exalt_v their_o own_o tradition_n they_o become_v very_o zealous_a in_o persecute_v the_o saint_n and_o truth_n of_o christ_n for_o it_o be_v natural_a for_o a_o man_n to_o become_v zealous_a for_o that_o which_o be_v his_o own_o that_o which_o be_v of_o the_o flesh_n that_o which_o be_v a_o kin_n to_o the_o flesh_n the_o flesh_n will_v be_v zealous_a for_o now_o all_o tradition_n they_o be_v bear_v of_o the_o flesh_n they_o be_v the_o offspring_n of_o man_n own_o brain_n and_o therefore_o upon_o that_o account_n man_n be_v many_o time_n very_o zealous_a for_o they_o to_o the_o persecute_v of_o the_o saint_n of_o god_n now_o upon_o this_o account_n the_o lord_n christ_n will_v not_o afford_v his_o presence_n with_o such_o as_o lay_v aside_o his_o rule_n for_o they_o many_o time_n prove_v the_o great_a persecuter_n of_o christ_n and_o his_o people_n four_o christ_n will_v not_o continue_v and_o afford_v his_o presence_n with_o such_o a_o people_n as_o set_v up_o their_o own_o invention_n and_o tradition_n in_o the_o place_n of_o god_n rule_n because_o they_o do_v arrogate_v that_o to_o themselves_o which_o be_v christ_n due_a he_o be_v the_o great_a prophet_n and_o give_v to_o instruct_v his_o people_n to_o make_v know_v the_o way_n of_o life_n and_o salvation_n and_o it_o belong_v to_o christ_n to_o give_v a_o rule_n for_o his_o people_n to_o walk_v by_o and_o therefore_o when_o man_n shall_v set_v up_o their_o rule_n in_o the_o place_n of_o christ_n rule_n what_o do_v they_o but_o take_v the_o place_n of_o christ_n the_o office_n of_o christ_n and_o turn_v christ_n out_o of_o his_o office_n and_o set_v themselves_o in_o christ_n chair_n now_o this_o be_v a_o great_a provocation_n to_o christ_n and_o that_o which_o christ_n will_v not_o endure_v but_o depart_v from_o such_o a_o people_n five_o they_o that_o do_v exalt_v their_o own_o invention_n and_o tradition_n in_o the_o place_n of_o christ_n rule_n for_o the_o most_o part_n they_o place_v their_o righteousness_n in_o those_o very_a tradition_n of_o their_o own_o which_o be_v a_o great_a provocation_n unto_o christ_n for_o you_o may_v observe_v this_o in_o the_o pharisee_n they_o that_o be_v so_o zealous_a for_o their_o own_o invention_n and_o will_v not_o submit_v to_o the_o rule_n of_o christ_n they_o will_v not_o submit_v to_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n but_o they_o place_v their_o righteousness_n in_o their_o tradition_n in_o their_o invention_n a_o kind_n of_o voluntary_a humility_n they_o have_v and_o willing_o submit_v to_o their_o tradition_n and_o by_o so_o do_v do_v overturn_v the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n place_v their_o righteousness_n in_o their_o own_o observation_n it_o be_v that_o which_o make_v they_o not_o to_o submit_v to_o the_o righteousness_n of_o god_n let_v a_o man_n do_v never_o so_o much_o let_v he_o walk_v never_o so_o strict_o let_v he_o set_v up_o the_o straight_a rule_n to_o himself_o to_o walk_v by_o though_o a_o man_n do_v never_o so_o much_o though_o he_o afflict_v his_o body_n never_o so_o much_o if_o this_o tend_v to_o draw_v off_o the_o soul_n from_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n that_o a_o man_n shall_v look_v upon_o this_o as_o his_o commendation_n before_o god_n and_o place_v this_o in_o the_o room_n of_o christ_n righteousness_n as_o all_o do_v that_o set_v up_o their_o own_o tradition_n they_o
he_o no_o if_o christ_n have_v intend_v that_o christ_n will_v never_o have_v come_v into_o those_o coast_n and_o therefore_o his_o intent_n be_v not_o that_o she_o may_v not_o have_v find_v he_o he_o may_v have_v go_v into_o the_o wilderness_n and_o go_v where_o she_o may_v never_o have_v hear_v of_o he_o no_o that_o she_o may_v seek_v he_o and_o exercise_v faith_n and_o press_v in_o upon_o he_o and_o oh_o that_o this_o may_v give_v encouragement_n to_o you_o poor_a soul_n who_o be_v look_v after_o christ_n who_o have_v hide_v himself_o from_o you_o o_o consider_v that_o if_o jesus_n christ_n have_v intend_v so_o to_o hide_v himself_o as_o you_o shall_v never_o find_v he_o christ_n will_v never_o have_v come_v upon_o your_o coast_n christ_n will_v have_v go_v some_o where_o else_o he_o will_v never_o have_v come_v so_o nigh_o to_o you_o as_o he_o have_v do_v he_o will_v never_o have_v come_v so_o nigh_o to_o your_o soul_n and_o never_o have_v draw_v nigh_o to_o you_o in_o such_o a_o word_n of_o grace_n and_o promise_n no_o he_o hide_v himself_o that_o you_o may_v seek_v he_o and_o not_o with_o a_o intent_n you_o may_v not_o find_v he_o second_o consider_v what_o a_o engagement_n this_o do_v lay_v upon_o all_o our_o soul_n this_o example_n of_o the_o woman_n of_o canaan_n in_o find_v out_o christ_n and_o press_v in_o upon_o christ_n when_o she_o have_v no_o invitation_n oh_o what_o a_o engagement_n be_v this_o for_o our_o soul_n to_o believe_v in_o christ_n what_o a_o engagement_n to_o come_v to_o christ_n to_o come_v in_o faith_n see_v jesus_n christ_n do_v not_o hide_v himself_o in_o a_o private_a house_n as_o he_o do_v then_o no_o christ_n he_o draw_v nigh_o to_o we_o and_o stand_v as_o it_o be_v upon_o the_o house_n top_n wisdom_n stand_v in_o the_o open_a street_n and_o there_o she_o cry_v and_o make_v proclamation_n o_o you_o fool_n how_o long_o will_v you_o love_v folly_n you_o simple_a one_o how_o long_o will_v you_o love_v simplicity_n so_o than_o if_o she_o come_v to_o christ_n when_o christ_n hide_v himself_o what_o a_o engagement_n have_v we_o to_o come_v to_o christ_n when_o christ_n stand_v upon_o the_o house_n top_n if_o she_o press_v in_o to_o christ_n when_o she_o have_v no_o invitation_n o_o what_o a_o engagement_n lie_v upon_o we_o in_o the_o day_n of_o grace_n to_o come_v to_o christ_n we_o have_v many_o a_o word_n of_o encouragement_n he_o say_v look_v to_o i_o and_o be_v you_o save_v and_o he_o say_v behold_v i_o to_o a_o nation_n that_o be_v not_o call_v by_o his_o name_n o_o the_o gracious_a invitation_n that_o we_o hear_v from_o christ_n from_o day_n to_o day_n christ_n set_v the_o door_n of_o grace_n wide_o open_a let_v he_o come_v and_o whoever_o will_v let_v he_o come_v and_o he_o do_v engage_v that_o whosoever_o come_v shall_v not_o be_v shut_v out_o shall_v not_o find_v the_o door_n of_o grace_n shut_v against_o he_o whoever_o come_v to_o christ_n by_o faith_n shall_v find_v that_o all_o their_o describe_v first_o by_o a_o woman_n a_o woman_n be_v the_o weak_a vessel_n more_o weak_a ordinary_o than_o man_n strong_a passion_n great_a fear_n subject_a to_o doubt_n and_o yet_o here_o be_v a_o woman_n behold_v a_o woman_n come_v second_o she_o be_v describe_v to_o be_v a_o canaanite_n a_o woman_n of_o canaan_n she_o be_v of_o the_o stock_n of_o the_o canaanite_n a_o curse_a nation_n cast_v out_o of_o the_o land_n for_o their_o abomination_n and_o their_o land_n give_v to_o israel_n for_o a_o possession_n and_o yet_o this_o woman_n though_o a_o canaanite_n come_v to_o christ_n three_o she_o be_v a_o canaanite_n it_o follow_v that_o before_o the_o lord_n reveal_v himself_o to_o she_o she_o be_v a_o very_a sinful_a woman_n so_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o canaanite_n be_v not_o only_o vile_a in_o respect_n of_o kindred_n but_o vile_a in_o respect_n of_o actual_a transgression_n and_o yet_o behold_v this_o woman_n of_o canaan_n here_o come_v to_o christ_n so_o then_o the_o doctrine_n be_v this_o that_o the_o lord_n many_o time_n be_v please_v to_o make_v choice_n of_o the_o most_o weak_a doctrine_n and_o the_o most_o unworthy_a and_o the_o most_o sinful_a and_o cause_v they_o to_o come_v to_o jesus_n christ_n she_o be_v a_o woman_n there_o be_v her_o weakness_n a_o canaanite_n there_o be_v her_o unworthiness_n sinful_a in_o respect_n of_o actual_a transgression_n even_o as_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o canaanite_n we_o shall_v clear_v this_o point_n to_o you_o from_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o give_v you_o instance_n that_o the_o lord_n make_v choice_n many_o time_n of_o the_o weak_a and_o unworthy_a and_o win_v upon_o their_o heart_n and_o cause_v they_o to_o believe_v in_o christ_n first_o of_o all_o for_o god_n choose_v those_o that_o be_v weak_a and_o bring_v home_o such_o to_o christ_n it_o will_v appear_v that_o god_n many_o time_n choose_v the_o weak_a weak_a in_o respect_n of_o estate_n part_n age._n sex_n to_o clear_v these_o choose_v first_o such_o as_o be_v weak_a in_o estate_n poor_a such_o as_o be_v mean_a in_o estate_n for_o the_o most_o part_n the_o lord_n make_v choice_n of_o such_o go_v and_o tell_v john_n say_v christ_n matth._n strong_a passion_n and_o lust_n that_o weaken_v the_o mind_n and_o understanding_n young_a man_n for_o the_o most_o part_n be_v most_o rash_a and_o inconsiderate_a argument_n of_o weakness_n young_a the_o goodness_n of_o god_n and_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n or_o to_o question_v its_o own_o sonship_n yet_o they_o will_v prevail_v so_o far_o as_o to_o make_v the_o soul_n question_v his_o service_n and_o his_o duty_n which_o it_o have_v perform_v to_o god_n oh_o sure_o i_o have_v not_o speak_v to_o the_o lord_n as_o i_o ought_v sure_o i_o have_v not_o be_v fervent_a in_o spirit_n serve_v the_o lord_n my_o prayer_n have_v be_v but_o word_n of_o my_o own_o not_o the_o teach_n of_o his_o spirit_n if_o it_o have_v be_v his_o own_o spirit_n the_o lord_n will_v have_v hear_v his_o own_o spirit_n but_o my_o prayer_n have_v be_v accompany_v with_o so_o many_o infirmity_n as_o it_o have_v not_o reach_v up_o to_o heaven_n and_o thus_o you_o see_v how_o many_o a_o poor_a soul_n be_v lead_v into_o temptation_n upon_o this_o ground_n the_o lord_n be_v silent_a to_o the_o prayer_n of_o his_o people_n but_o you_o will_v say_v wherefore_o do_v the_o lord_n thus_o try_v his_o people_n i_o answer_v sometime_o indeed_o the_o fault_n be_v in_o ourselves_o that_o we_o have_v no_o answer_n to_o our_o prayer_n for_o it_o be_v possible_a that_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n that_o have_v faith_n in_o jesus_n christ_n may_v be_v remiss_a in_o their_o walking_n they_o may_v neglect_v some_o know_a duty_n or_o they_o may_v connive_v and_o wink_v at_o some_o evil_a way_n and_o if_o so_o no_o wonder_n though_o the_o lord_n be_v silent_a at_o their_o prayer_n if_o i_o regard_v iniquity_n in_o my_o heart_n the_o lord_n will_v not_o hear_v my_o prayer_n if_o david_n regard_v iniquity_n if_o there_o be_v any_o way_n of_o sin_n that_o his_o heart_n close_v with_o the_o lord_n will_v be_v silent_a to_o his_o prayer_n if_o any_o iniquity_n be_v regard_v no_o wonder_n though_o the_o lord_n do_v not_o hear_v yea_o sometime_o god_n own_o people_n be_v find_v remiss_a in_o their_o duty_n and_o though_o they_o pray_v they_o pray_v remissly_a and_o cold_o their_o prayer_n be_v accompany_v with_o so_o much_o deadness_n and_o distraction_n there_o be_v so_o little_a life_n and_o so_o little_a spirit_n the_o spirit_n speak_v so_o low_a that_o the_o lord_n can_v hear_v and_o he_o will_v not_o hear_v and_o when_o it_o be_v so_o that_o we_o pray_v cold_o and_o lazy_o we_o make_v but_o a_o light_a matter_n of_o it_o and_o be_v not_o find_v cry_v to_o the_o lord_n with_o our_o heart_n no_o wonder_n though_o the_o lord_n be_v silent_a to_o our_o prayer_n yea_o sometime_o god_n own_o people_n may_v miss_v of_o a_o answer_n because_o they_o do_v not_o look_v after_o a_o answer_n and_o then_o the_o fault_n be_v their_o own_o when_o as_o we_o shall_v put_v up_o our_o petition_n and_o shall_v not_o be_v look_v after_o our_o prayer_n shall_v not_o be_v find_v look_v up_o as_o david_n speak_v psalm_n 5._o 3._o in_o the_o morning_n will_v i_o direct_v my_o prayer_n unto_o thou_o and_o will_v look_v up_o i_o will_v wait_v for_o a_o answer_n and_o hear_v what_o god_n the_o lord_n will_v speak_v psalm_n 85._o 8._o but_o when_o we_o do_v not_o regard_v our_o prayer_n than_o no_o wonder_n there_o be_v no_o answer_n i_o say_v therefore_o the_o lord_n be_v sometime_o silent_a to_o the_o silent_a and_o give_v no_o present_a answer_n to_o the_o prayer_n of_o his_o people_n why_o so_o why_o will_v the_o lord_n deal_v so_o with_o any_o of_o his_o people_n i_o answer_v people_n for_o gracious_a end_n as_o first_o that_o they_o may_v exercise_v the_o spirit_n of_o prayer_n which_o be_v give_v out_o the_o lord_n he_o love_v to_o hear_v the_o cry_n of_o his_o people_n he_o love_v she_o away_o for_o she_o cry_v after_o we_o lord_n stop_v her_o mouth_n send_v she_o away_o give_v she_o a_o answer_n dispatch_v she_o for_o she_o cry_v after_o we_o and_o this_o be_v do_v say_v they_o that_o so_o the_o trial_n of_o this_o woman_n faith_n may_v be_v the_o great_a but_o i_o rather_o conceive_v that_o the_o disciple_n in_o these_o word_n do_v pray_v for_o she_o they_o do_v perform_v a_o office_n and_o duty_n of_o love_n in_o intercede_v with_o christ_n for_o she_o for_o first_o of_o all_o it_o seem_v they_o be_v very_o earnest_a in_o it_o they_o come_v and_o beseech_v he_o say_v send_v she_o away_o sure_o if_o it_o have_v be_v only_o to_o stop_v her_o mouth_n to_o dispatch_v she_o the_o disciple_n will_v not_o have_v be_v so_o earnest_a with_o christ_n to_o beseech_v he_o good_a nature_n will_v have_v teach_v they_o more_o compassion_n and_o therefore_o grace_n teach_v they_o much_o more_o and_o then_o they_o seem_v to_o be_v affect_v with_o the_o cry_n of_o the_o woman_n she_o cry_v after_o we_o send_v she_o away_o it_o break_v our_o heart_n the_o cry_n that_o she_o make_v thou_o son_n of_o david_n have_v mercy_n on_o i_o and_o three_o it_o be_v clear_a and_o evident_a in_o the_o follow_a verse_n from_o the_o answer_n that_o christ_n give_v upon_o their_o seek_n of_o he_o i_o be_o not_o send_v but_o to_o the_o lose_a sheep_n of_o the_o disciple_n to_o present_v the_o condition_n of_o other_o unto_o the_o lord_n in_o prayer_n as_o well_o as_o their_o own_o doctrine_n we_o find_v that_o moses_n the_o servant_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v much_o in_o this_o work_n much_o in_o pray_v for_o other_o and_o intercede_v for_o israel_n upon_o every_o occasion_n he_o step_v in_o and_o plead_v with_o god_n for_o the_o people_n and_o so_o david_n in_o many_o of_o the_o psalm_n he_o present_v the_o condition_n of_o other_o unto_o the_o lord_n and_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n himself_o who_o be_v our_o great_a pattern_n be_v much_o of_o pray_v for_o other_o rom._n 1._o 9_o he_o do_v appeal_v to_o god_n that_o he_o do_v not_o neglect_v this_o duty_n for_o god_n be_v my_o witness_n who_o i_o serve_v with_o my_o spirit_n in_o the_o gospel_n of_o his_o son_n that_o without_o cease_v i_o make_v mention_n of_o you_o always_o in_o my_o prayer_n and_o so_o 2_o tim._n 1._o 3_o i_o thank_v god_n who_o i_o serve_v from_o my_o forefather_n with_o pure_a conscience_n that_o without_o cease_v i_o have_v remembrance_n of_o thou_o in_o my_o prayer_n paul_n do_v remember_v other_o before_o the_o lord_n but_o in_o the_o open_n
