prophecy_n etc._n etc._n but_o these_o sort_n of_o gift_n say_v he_o agree_v in_o this_o that_o they_o be_v supernatural_a and_o free_o give_v by_o god_n to_o man_n this_o distinction_n bring_v by_o the_o author_n i_o willing_o own_o and_o acknowledge_v but_o the_o thing_n that_o remain_v for_o he_o to_o prove_v be_v that_o no_o sort_n of_o immediate_a divine_a revelation_n and_o inspiration_n and_o immediate_a divine_a teach_n be_v any_o of_o those_o common_a and_o ordinary_a gift_n give_v free_o of_o god_n to_o all_o true_a and_o sincere_a christian_n now_o that_o the_o inspiration_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n be_v one_o of_o these_o common_a gift_n of_o the_o spirit_n do_v plain_o appear_v from_o the_o common_a prayer_n of_o the_o church_n of_o england_n according_a to_o this_o very_a expect_v but_o such_o be_v the_o inspiration_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n according_a to_o the_o common_a prayer_n of_o the_o church_n of_o england_n for_o thus_o she_o pray_v in_o the_o collect_n on_o the_o first_o sunday_n after_o easter_n lord_n from_o who_o all_o good_a thing_n do_v come_v grant_v we_o thy_o humble_a servant_n that_o by_o thy_o holy_a inspiration_n we_o may_v think_v those_o thing_n that_o be_v good_a and_o by_o thy_o merciful_a guide_n may_v perform_v the_o same_o through_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n amen_n again_o in_o the_o first_o prayer_n at_o the_o communion_n immediate_o after_o our_o father_n etc._n etc._n it_o say_v almighty_a god_n unto_o who_o all_o heart_n be_v open_a cleanse_v the_o thought_n of_o our_o heart_n by_o the_o inspiration_n of_o thy_o holy_a spirit_n that_o we_o may_v perfect_o love_v thou_o and_o worthy_o magnify_v thy_o name_n etc._n etc._n again_o in_o the_o 4_o prayer_n which_o have_v this_o title_n for_o the_o whole_a state_n of_o christ_n church_n militant_a here_o on_o earth_n it_o say_v thus_o beseech_v thou_o to_o inspire_v continual_o the_o universal_a church_n with_o the_o spirit_n of_o truth_n he_o do_v not_o say_v that_o the_o gift_n of_o pray_v by_o the_o spirit_n be_v expire_v in_o his_o time_n and_o though_o chrysostome_n have_v say_v so_o i_o suppose_v the_o author_n himself_o do_v not_o think_v that_o all_o chrysostoms_n word_n be_v infallible_o to_o be_v believe_v yea_o the_o reason_n give_v by_o chrysostome_n why_o god_n be_v please_v to_o give_v that_o gift_n of_o prayer_n the_o scripture_n which_o be_v a_o excellent_a rule_n of_o devotion_n as_o well_o as_o faith_n and_o since_o that_o gift_n be_v also_o render_v useless_a by_o the_o early_a general_a use_n of_o liturgy_n i_o say_v this_o have_v no_o weight_n to_o prove_v that_o the_o spirit_n of_o prayer_n or_o pray_v by_o divine_a inspiration_n be_v expire_v for_o in_o the_o apostle_n day_n the_o scripture_n be_v extant_a as_o much_o as_o now_o and_o therefore_o if_o the_o spiritual_a gift_n of_o prayer_n be_v make_v void_a by_o have_v the_o scripture_n in_o the_o room_n of_o it_o that_o gift_n shall_v have_v cease_v in_o the_o apostle_n day_n sure_o it_o be_v not_o god_n design_n to_o give_v we_o the_o scripture_n that_o he_o may_v take_v away_o his_o spirit_n from_o we_o and_o leave_v we_o only_o the_o scripture-word_n in_o his_o room_n but_o he_o promise_v that_o his_o spirit_n shall_v remain_v or_o abide_v with_o his_o people_n for_o ever_o who_o abide_n and_o presence_n
