and_o their_o work_n be_v in_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n and_o no_o man_n know_v either_o love_n or_o hatred_n by_o all_o that_o be_v before_o he_o for_o all_o thing_n come_v alike_o to_o all_o and_o the_o same_o condition_n be_v to_o the_o just_a as_o to_o the_o wicked_a and_o to_o the_o good_a and_o to_o the_o pure_a and_o to_o the_o pollute_a and_o to_o he_o that_o sacrifice_v and_o to_o he_o that_o sacâ—ificeth_v not_o as_o be_v the_o good_a so_o be_v the_o sinner_n he_o that_o swear_v as_o he_o that_o fear_v a_o oath_n etc._n etc._n we_o have_v purposely_o choose_v this_o text_n that_o we_o may_v answer_v some_o objection_n which_o may_v be_v make_v against_o the_o all-sufficiency_n of_o god_n which_o we_o speak_v of_o late_o to_o you_o for_o this_o may_v be_v object_v if_o god_n be_v all-sufficient_a ob._n what_o be_v the_o reason_n of_o this_o dispensation_n of_o thing_n that_o we_o see_v in_o the_o world_n that_o there_o be_v righteous_a man_n to_o who_o it_o be_v according_a to_o the_o work_n of_o the_o wicked_a and_o there_o be_v wicked_a man_n again_o to_o who_o it_o be_v according_a to_o the_o work_n of_o the_o righteous_a here_o you_o have_v this_o answer_n make_v answ._n that_o for_o a_o time_n all_o thing_n come_v alike_o to_o all_o there_o be_v the_o same_o condition_n to_o the_o one_o as_o to_o the_o other_o the_o reason_n of_o which_o you_o shall_v see_v when_o we_o come_v to_o the_o handle_n of_o the_o word_n but_o in_o brief_a to_o open_v they_o to_o you_o you_o shall_v â—inde_v that_o this_o be_v the_o occasion_n of_o they_o in_o the_o 16._o verse_n of_o the_o former_a chapter_n say_v the_o wiseman_n 16._o i_o have_v apply_v my_o heart_n unto_o wisedâ—me_n and_o to_o behold_v the_o business_n that_o be_v do_v upon_o the_o way_n the_o reason_n of_o his_o providence_n of_o his_o dispense_n of_o prosperity_n to_o the_o wicked_a and_o adversity_n to_o the_o godly_a yet_o these_o two_o conclusion_n notwithstanding_o he_o find_v which_o he_o expresâ—eth_v in_o the_o first_o verse_n first_o that_o the_o just_a and_o the_o wise_a and_o their_o work_n be_v in_o the_o hand_n of_o the_o lord_n that_o be_v although_o i_o see_v not_o the_o reason_n why_o god_n do_v it_o yet_o this_o i_o find_v it_o be_v the_o lord_n that_o dispose_v all_o thing_n both_o to_o man_n and_o all_o their_o work_n all_o the_o event_n that_o fall_v out_o both_o good_a and_o evil_a i_o find_v this_o that_o they_o be_v in_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n the_o second_o thing_n he_o find_v be_v that_o all_o thing_n come_v alike_o to_o all_o there_o be_v the_o same_o condition_n to_o the_o good_a and_o to_o the_o evil_a to_o he_o that_o sacrifice_v and_o to_o he_o that_o sacrifice_v not_o these_o be_v the_o two_o thing_n that_o the_o wiseman_n profess_v he_o find_v out_o &_o from_o hence_o he_o gather_v two_o consectary_n one_o be_v consectarie_n that_o there_o be_v no_o man_n able_a to_o know_v love_n or_o hatred_n by_o all_o that_o be_v before_o he_o that_o be_v by_o all_o that_o he_o see_v do_v to_o himself_o or_o by_o all_o that_o he_o see_v god_n do_v to_o other_o man_n he_o be_v not_o able_a to_o judge_v by_o that_o who_o it_o be_v that_o god_n love_v or_o who_o it_o be_v he_o hate_v a_o second_o consectarie_n from_o it_o consectarie_n be_v express_v in_o the_o three_o verse_n 3._o say_v he_o this_o be_v a_o evil_n i_o have_v see_v under_o the_o sun_n that_o there_o be_v one_o condition_n to_o all_o that_o be_v the_o son_n of_o man_n when_o they_o have_v see_v this_o carriage_n of_o thing_n this_o administration_n and_o dispensation_n of_o good_a and_o evil_a thus_o premiscuous_o to_o man_n of_o all_o sort_n therefore_o say_v he_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n be_v full_a of_o evil_a and_o madness_n be_v in_o this_o even_o to_o declare_v these_o two_o thing_n that_o all_o thing_n be_v in_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n etc._n etc._n whence_o we_o will_v gather_v this_o in_o that_o solomon_n say_v that_o he_o a_o hard_a thing_n to_o persuade_v ourselves_o it_o be_v a_o hard_a thing_n to_o persuade_v other_o that_o be_v i_o shall_v not_o deliver_v the_o point_n full_o to_o you_o except_o god_n himself_o teach_v you_o except_o god_n himself_o declare_v it_o it_o be_v so_o hard_a for_o a_o man_n to_o see_v all_o thing_n in_o the_o hand_n of_o gâ—d_n to_o know_v that_o he_o be_v able_a to_o do_v all_o persuade_v it_o belong_v to_o the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o persuade_v it_o belong_v to_o god_n to_o persuade_v not_o only_o to_o persuade_v this_o truth_n to_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n but_o also_o to_o persuade_v all_o save_a truth_n of_o what_o nature_n soever_o and_o therefore_o we_o see_v when_o christ_n send_v out_o his_o disciple_n his_o apostle_n he_o bid_v they_o go_v preach_v the_o word_n to_o the_o jew_n and_o gentile_n and_o whereas_o they_o may_v object_v in_o that_o case_n ob._n how_o shall_v we_o be_v able_a to_o persuade_v man_n that_o bring_v a_o strange_a doctrine_n and_o strange_a news_n to_o they_o a_o strange_a thing_n that_o be_v never_o hear_v of_o christ_n answer_v they_o thus_o answ._n i_o will_v send_v my_o spirit_n with_o you_o 16._o and_o he_o shall_v convince_v the_o world_n of_o sin_n of_o righteousness_n and_o of_o ludgement_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v i_o confesle_a you_o be_v not_o able_a to_o do_v it_o that_o be_v a_o work_n that_o only_o belong_v to_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o he_o shall_v convince_v man_n of_o their_o miserable_a estate_n out_o of_o christ_n he_o shall_v convince_v they_o of_o that_o righteousness_n that_o they_o be_v to_o have_v by_o christ_n he_o shall_v also_o convince_v they_o of_o holiness_n and_o sanctification_n under_o christ_n government_n thus_o say_v he_o the_o holy_a ghost_n shall_v do_v you_o be_v not_o able_a to_o perform_v it_o and_o so_o when_o the_o lord_n make_v the_o promise_n that_o the_o people_n shall_v serve_v he_o and_o fear_v he_o the_o question_n be_v how_o they_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o do_v it_o shall_v the_o prophet_n be_v able_a to_o persuade_v
grace_n of_o god_n spirit_n in_o you_o and_o the_o action_n that_o flow_v from_o they_o whether_o they_o be_v sincere_a or_o perfect_a but_o likewise_o we_o will_v show_v you_o the_o ground_n of_o this_o sincerity_n whence_o it_o arise_v and_o how_o it_o be_v wrought_v in_o every_o man_n heart_n and_o thus_o these_o word_n contain_v the_o covenant_n say_v the_o lord_n to_o abraham_n i_o will_v be_v thy_o god_n on_o the_o other_o side_n thou_o shall_v be_v i_o now_o he_o show_v what_o a_o kind_n of_o god_n he_o will_n be_v to_o he_o i_o will_v be_v all-sufficient_a to_o thou_o which_o consist_v in_o two_o thing_n 1._o if_o you_o compare_v this_o with_o gen._n 15._o 1._o i_o will_v be_v thy_o buckler_n to_o preserve_v thou_o from_o all_o evil_a and_o again_o i_o will_v be_v thy_o exceed_a great_a reward_n that_o be_v i_o will_v not_o only_o be_v a_o shield_n but_o i_o will_v be_v a_o sun_n to_o thou_o i_o will_v both_o preserve_v thou_o from_o all_o evil_a and_o i_o will_v fill_v thou_o with_o all_o good_a thing_n i_o will_v compress_v thou_o about_o with_o mercy_n and_o love_a kindness_n so_o that_o thou_o shalâ—_n find_v that_o i_o will_v be_v a_o exceed_o great_a reward_n so_o god_n express_v himself_o to_o abraham_n and_o this_o be_v the_o covenant_n on_o god_n part_n now_o that_o which_o be_v require_v on_o abraham_n part_n be_v that_o he_o be_v the_o lord_n as_o the_o lord_n be_v he_o for_o so_o you_o see_v in_o the_o word_n follow_v the_o question_n only_o be_v in_o what_o manner_n abraham_n shall_v be_v the_o lord_n how_o that_o shall_v be_v declare_v say_v he_o it_o be_v not_o a_o empty_a relation_n but_o thou_o must_v show_v that_o thou_o be_v i_o by_o walk_v before_o i_o and_o yet_o it_o must_v not_o be_v any_o kind_n of_o walk_v before_o the_o lord_n but_o it_o must_v be_v a_o perfect_a walk_v before_o he_o walk_v before_o i_o and_o be_v perfect_a and_o therefore_o it_o be_v add_v i_o will_v make_v my_o covenant_n that_o be_v this_o be_v the_o covenant_n of_o which_o circumcision_n be_v but_o a_o sign_n for_o it_o be_v institute_v present_o as_o we_o see_v in_o the_o word_n follow_v there_o be_v three_o especial_a point_n that_o we_o will_v gather_v out_o of_o the_o word_n the_o first_o be_v from_o the_o connexion_n and_o we_o will_v begin_v with_o that_o because_o it_o be_v a_o preparation_n to_o the_o other_o two_o in_o that_o the_o lord_n use_v this_o as_o a_o argument_n to_o abraham_n i_o be_o all-sufficient_a therefore_o walk_v before_o i_o and_o be_v thou_o perfect_a we_o may_v observe_v this_o that_o the_o cause_n of_o all_o departure_n from_o god_n 1._o of_o all_o unevennesse_n in_o our_o way_n towards_o god_n god_n be_v from_o hence_o that_o we_o do_v not_o think_v god_n to_o be_v all-sufficient_a as_o on_o the_o other_o side_n the_o cause_n of_o all_o our_o sincerity_n and_o perfectness_n arise_v hence_o that_o we_o do_v apprehend_v he_o to_o be_v all-sufficient_a this_o you_o see_v evident_o arise_v from_o the_o word_n for_o thence_o be_v the_o force_n of_o the_o argument_n i_o be_o all-sufficient_a therefore_o walk_v before_o i_o and_o be_v perfect_a my_o belove_a it_o be_v evident_a that_o the_o cause_n of_o every_o man_n keep_v off_o from_o god_n the_o cause_n of_o his_o unevennesse_n after_o he_o be_v come_v in_o to_o he_o be_v from_o hence_o that_o man_n think_v not_o god_n to_o be_v all-sufficient_a for_o if_o a_o man_n have_v enough_o in_o the_o lord_n he_o will_v never_o go_v out_o from_o he_o but_o because_o he_o want_v something_o he_o desire_v something_o that_o be_v not_o in_o he_o or_o he_o fear_v something_o that_o he_o think_v he_o can_v keep_v off_o from_o he_o hence_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o he_o step_n out_o from_o god_n he_o go_v out_o of_o the_o way_n of_o his_o commandment_n and_o therefore_o i_o say_v the_o cause_n of_o every_o man_n departure_n from_o god_n the_o cause_n of_o his_o keep_n off_o from_o god_n or_o of_o his_o unevennesse_n in_o the_o way_n of_o god_n be_v from_o hence_o that_o he_o think_v not_o god_n to_o be_v all-sufficient_a and_o this_o you_o shall_v see_v in_o three_o sort_n of_o man_n first_o there_o be_v a_o generation_n of_o man_n that_o live_v as_o without_o god_n in_o the_o world_n and_o that_o look_v not_o towards_o god_n at_o all_o that_o make_v conscience_n of_o nothing_o and_o what_o be_v the_o reason_n of_o that_o but_o because_o they_o think_v they_o have_v sufficient_a of_o their_o own_o and_o therefore_o they_o walk_v in_o their_o own_o way_n and_o stand_v upon_o their_o own_o bottom_n and_o they_o love_v thernselue_n and_o serve_v themselves_o altogether_o and_o apply_v not_o themselves_o to_o the_o lord_n at_o all_o and_o therefore_o whensoever_o any_o man_n be_v bring_v unto_o god_n the_o work_n be_v to_o take_v he_o off_o from_o his_o own_o bottom_n to_o show_v he_o his_o own_o insufficiency_n in_o himself_o and_o the_o emptiness_n of_o himself_o and_o of_o every_o creature_n and_o the_o all-sufficiency_n that_o be_v in_o god_n and_o upon_o this_o ground_n he_o come_v in_o to_o he_o as_o you_o know_v 15._o the_o prodigal_a son_n when_o he_o see_v that_o he_o can_v not_o subsist_v long_o but_o he_o must_v perish_v if_o he_o stay_v where_o he_o be_v and_o see_v again_o if_o he_o go_v home_o to_o his_o father_n house_n there_o be_v meat_n enough_o this_o be_v that_o that_o move_v he_o to_o go_v home_o this_o course_n the_o lord_n take_v with_o all_o who_o he_o bring_v home_o to_o he_o 16._o as_o we_o see_v in_o the_o jailor_n and_o in_o those_o act._n 2._o 2._o they_o be_v prick_v in_o their_o heart_n and_o in_o paul_n when_o the_o light_n shine_v about_o he_o and_o he_o be_v strike_v from_o his_o horse_n act._n 9_o 9_o it_o be_v all_o but_o to_o show_v they_o their_o vanity_n to_o take_v they_o off_o from_o their_o own_o bottom_n to_o show_v they_o their_o own_o insufficiency_n and_o then_o he_o discover_v that_o all-sufficiency_n that_o be_v in_o himself_o for_o no_o man_n will_v change_v but_o for_o the_o better_a he_o will_v not_o deny_v himself_o and_o leave_v what_o he_o have_v till_o something_o that_o be_v better_o be_v propound_v unto_o he_o so_o i_o say_v the_o cause_n why_o man_n come_v not_o in_o be_v because_o they_o have_v a_o opinion_n of_o sufficiency_n in_o themselves_o and_o in_o the_o creature_n and_o they_o apprehend_v not_o a_o all-sufficiency_n in_o god_n that_o be_v a_o all-sufficiency_n to_o be_v in_o he_o alone_o a_o second_o fort_n of_o man_n be_v such_o as_o do_v come_v in_o and_o perform_v many_o thing_n and_o bring_v forth_o some_o fruit_n and_o become_v professor_n of_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n and_o yet_o they_o do_v it_o not_o thorough_o but_o by_o half_n the_o cause_n of_o this_o be_v likewise_o from_o hence_o that_o they_o do_v not_o apprehend_v god_n to_o be_v all-sufficient_a for_o it_o they_o do_v they_o will_v be_v perfect_a with_o he_o 13._o as_o we_o see_v the_o second_o and_o three_o ground_n for_o that_o parable_n do_v but_o show_v you_o the_o kind_n of_o professor_n they_o be_v all_o such_o as_o profess_v the_o fear_n of_o the_o lord_n that_o be_v there_o speak_v of_o for_o we_o see_v they_o bring_v forth_o fruit_n they_o receive_v the_o word_n with_o joy._n what_o be_v the_o reason_n the_o second_o ground_n be_v not_o perfect_a with_o the_o lord_n because_o they_o think_v he_o not_o to_o be_v a_o buckler_n strong_a enough_o to_o bear_v off_o all_o evil_n to_o bear_v off_o all_o persecution_n what_o be_v the_o reason_n the_o three_o ground_n do_v it_o not_o because_o they_o think_v there_o be_v something_o in_o riches_n in_o pleasure_n in_o divers_a lust_n that_o they_o can_v not_o have_v in_o the_o lord_n so_o they_o depart_v from_o he_o only_o the_o four_o ground_n keep_v close_o because_o they_o do_v apprehend_v all_o to_o be_v in_o the_o lord_n that_o they_o desire_v they_o do_v apprehend_v he_o to_o be_v strong_a enough_o to_o deliver_v they_o from_o all_o the_o thing_n they_o fear_v the_o three_o sort_n of_o man_n be_v such_o as_o be_v regenerate_v which_o yet_o be_v subject_a to_o many_o slip_n and_o fall_v to_o many_o turn_n aside_o and_o the_o cause_n of_o all_o this_o be_v that_o they_o apprehend_v not_o god_n to_o be_v all-sufficient_a as_o for_o example_n what_o be_v the_o reason_n that_o abraham_n when_o he_o go_v down_o into_o egypt_n be_v drive_v thither_o by_o reason_n of_o famine_n save_v himself_o with_o a_o lie_n say_v that_o sarah_n be_v his_o sister_n and_o not_o his_o wife_n but_o because_o he_o think_v god_n be_v not_o able_a to_o keep_v he_o and_o defend_v he_o if_o he_o have_v think_v he_o to_o have_v be_v
lord_n but_o not_o a_o all-sufficiency_n this_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n be_v hollow_a towards_o the_o lord_n even_o as_o when_o a_o man_n look_v towards_o a_o great_a man_n that_o be_v a_o man_n ofsome_a power_n able_a to_o do_v he_o hurt_v and_o that_o have_v some_o ability_n to_o do_v he_o good_a this_o make_v he_o to_o fear_v it_o make_v he_o careful_a to_o please_v he_o and_o to_o abstain_v from_o what_o may_v offend_v he_o yet_o because_o he_o think_v he_o be_v not_o perfect_a with_o he_o that_o his_o heart_n be_v but_o hollow_a towards_o he_o he_o do_v it_o not_o full_o so_o it_o be_v in_o our_o walk_n before_o god_n because_o we_o apprehend_v he_o not_o to_o be_v all-sufficient_a therefore_o it_o be_v that_o our_o heart_n be_v not_o perfect_a with_o he_o instance_n we_o shall_v best_o show_v you_o this_o in_o instance_n for_o example_n what_o be_v the_o reason_n that_o a_o man_n be_v discourage_v in_o seek_v to_o god_n case_n in_o pray_v to_o god_n in_o depend_v upon_o god_n in_o any_o great_a case_n of_o difficulty_n where_o there_o be_v more_o than_o ordinary_a difficulty_n there_o be_v more_o to_o be_v suffer_v there_o be_v more_o to_o be_v do_v what_o be_v the_o reason_n of_o it_o because_o we_o apprehend_v he_o not_o to_o be_v all-sufficient_a you_o know_v the_o turn_n of_o man_n away_o from_o god_n common_o it_o arise_v from_o this_o they_o meet_v with_o some_o rub_n some_o cross_n some_o bar_n some_o lion_n in_o the_o way_n which_o they_o be_v not_o able_a to_o grapple_v with_o it_o be_v too_o strong_a for_o they_o and_o then_o they_o turn_v out_o of_o the_o way_n the_o reason_n i_o say_v of_o all_o sin_n and_o departure_n from_o the_o lord_n be_v because_o we_o do_v not_o apprehend_v he_o to_o be_v all-sufficient_a for_o if_o we_o do_v why_o shall_v not_o a_o man_n in_o a_o easy_a case_n turn_v from_o he_o as_o well_o as_o in_o the_o most_o difficult_a as_o for_o example_n david_n follow_v the_o lord_n long_o yet_o when_o saul_n grow_v exceed_v strong_a and_o he_o very_o weak_a than_o he_o step_v aside_o and_o say_v in_o his_o heart_n i_o shall_v perish_v one_o day_n and_o so_o he_o go_v out_o of_o god_n way_n and_o fly_v to_o achis_n to_o the_o philistine_n this_o be_v from_o hence_o that_o he_o do_v not_o apprehend_v the_o lord_n to_o be_v all-sufficient_a and_o almighty_a for_o the_o word_n signify_v both_o and_o so_o likewise_o moses_n 11._o numb_a 11._o what_o be_v the_o reason_n that_o he_o start_v aside_o that_o he_o do_v not_o believe_v as_o at_o other_o time_n when_o god_n say_v to_o he_o that_o he_o will_v give_v they_o flesh_n for_o a_o month_n together_o what_o say_v moses_n again_o shall_v six_o hundred_o thousand_o man_n be_v feed_v with_o flesh_n shall_v all_o the_o beef_n and_o sheep_n be_v slay_v or_o shall_v all_o the_o fish_n in_o the_o sea_n be_v gather_v together_o he_o can_v not_o believe_v the_o lord_n here_o be_v a_o difficulty_n that_o moses_n be_v not_o able_a to_o reach_v that_o there_o shall_v be_v so_o many_o feed_v with_o flesh_n and_o that_o in_o the_o wilderness_n and_o that_o for_o a_o month_n together_o he_o think_v it_o impossible_a to_o be_v do_v that_o all_o the_o fish_n in_o the_o sea_n shall_v be_v gather_v together_o and_o all_o little_a enough_o to_o serve_v such_o a_o turn_n now_o mark_v the_o lord_n answer_v there_o be_v experience_n and_o see_v whether_o the_o argument_n that_o be_v take_v from_o thence_o be_v not_o strong_a argument_n to_o express_v the_o vanity_n of_o all_o thing_n under_o the_o sun_n say_v he_o i_o be_v a_o king_n in_o jerusalem_n a_o mighty_a man_n and_o therefore_o able_a to_o have_v experience_n of_o those_o thing_n that_o
evangelicall_n manner_n that_o be_v in_o a_o true_a endeavour_n the_o gospel_n require_v that_o we_o shall_v love_v the_o lord_n our_o god_n with_o all_o our_o heart_n for_o the_o truth_n of_o it_o and_o be_v able_a to_o describe_v he_o to_o other_o but_o for_o all_o this_o thou_o find_v not_o thy_o heart_n affection_a towards_o he_o thou_o see_v not_o that_o excellency_n and_o beauty_n that_o be_v in_o he_o so_o that_o thy_o heart_n be_v not_o enamour_v with_o he_o thou_o can_v not_o say_v thou_o love_v he_o with_o all_o thy_o heart_n with_o all_o thy_o soul_n and_o with_o all_o thy_o strength_n what_o will_v thou_o do_v in_o this_o case_n go_v to_o christ_n the_o prophet_n and_o beseech_v he_o that_o he_o will_v teach_v thou_o to_o know_v the_o lord_n this_o be_v his_o promise_n if_o thou_o pray_v to_o he_o and_o he_o do_v not_o do_v it_o urge_v he_o with_o this_o it_o be_v a_o part_n of_o his_o covenant_n that_o he_o have_v confirm_v by_o oath_n and_o must_v do_v it_o and_o belove_a be_v assure_v of_o this_o if_o we_o seek_v and_o be_v earnest_a with_o he_o he_o will_v teach_v we_o to_o know_v the_o lord_n and_o to_o know_v he_o so_o that_o we_o shall_v love_v he_o with_o all_o our_o soul_n and_o with_o all_o our_o strength_n the_o like_a may_v i_o say_v of_o any_o thing_n else_o put_v the_o case_n affliction_n come_v upon_o thou_o and_o thou_o be_v not_o able_a to_o be_v patient_a under_o such_o affliction_n suppose_v that_o it_o be_v a_o matter_n of_o disgrace_n and_o discredit_v that_o so_o wound_v thou_o that_o thy_o heart_n can_v be_v at_o rest_n what_o be_v the_o reason_n of_o this_o thou_o call_v to_o mind_n it_o may_v be_v all_o the_o rule_n of_o patience_n that_o shall_v teach_v thou_o to_o bear_v affliction_n well_o and_o yet_o thou_o be_v not_o now_o and_o beseech_v he_o to_o show_v thou_o what_o be_v the_o nature_n of_o these_o outward_a cross_n and_o loss_n that_o thou_o may_v be_v teach_v of_o he_o once_o he_o be_v the_o great_a prophet_n that_o teach_v a_o man_n so_o he_o so_o present_v thing_n in_o their_o own_o colour_n to_o the_o understanding_n that_o the_o will_n and_o affection_n follow_v and_o apprehend_v they_o aright_o go_v to_o he_o and_o beseech_v he_o that_o thou_o may_v know_v they_o as_o thou_o ought_v and_o thou_o shall_v find_v that_o thou_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o beaâ—e_v the_o great_a cross_n with_o patience_n thy_o inward_a part_n that_o so_o thou_o may_v be_v indeed_o subject_a to_o the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n in_o a_o willing_a manner_n when_o a_o man_n see_v nothing_o as_o we_o say_v before_o but_o the_o outward_a letter_n of_o the_o law_n he_o will_v never_o be_v subject_a he_o will_v never_o yield_v obedience_n but_o christ_n come_v as_o a_o king_n now_o and_o put_v a_o inward_a disposition_n into_o the_o mind_n that_o shall_v answer_v the_o letter_n without_o and_o so_o he_o make_v a_o man_n subject_n to_o his_o government_n belove_a that_o phrase_n be_v to_o be_v mark_v heb._n 2._o 10._o lord_n make_v all_o those_o that_o come_v to_o he_o this_o be_v the_o first_o part_n of_o this_o kingdom_n the_o second_o part_n be_v to_o give_v we_o abundance_n of_o all_o thing_n to_o give_v we_o peace_n for_o the_o office_n of_o a_o king_n you_o know_v be_v to_o keep_v his_o people_n in_o peace_n as_o it_o be_v say_v of_o saul_n he_o clothe_v they_o with_o scarlet_a that_o be_v he_o make_v his_o people_n to_o abound_v with_o wealth_n and_o peace_n and_o quietness_n this_o the_o lord_n do_v likewise_o and_o this_o be_v a_o part_n of_o his_o spiritual_a kingdom_n now_o his_o kingdom_n be_v spiritual_a therefore_o the_o main_a work_n of_o it_o be_v to_o give_v we_o inward_a peace_n and_o joy_n you_o may_v have_v trouble_n in_o the_o world_n but_o my_o kingdom_n be_v not_o of_o this_o world_n and_o therefore_o we_o be_v not_o so_o much_o to_o expect_v a_o outward_a worldly_a peace_n though_o we_o have_v likewise_o a_o promise_n of_o that_o but_o in_o i_o you_o shall_v have_v inward_a peace_n say_v he_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n be_v in_o righteousness_n that_o be_v the_o first_o part_n when_o god_n work_v righteousness_n as_o i_o have_v name_v before_o the_o second_o be_v peace_n and_o joy_n so_o that_o that_o be_v a_o part_n of_o the_o covenant_n god_n promise_v inward_a peace_n and_o joy_n belove_v when_o you_o want_v it_o know_v it_o be_v a_o part_n of_o the_o covenant_n you_o may_v go_v to_o
impotent_a and_o beggarly_a rudiment_n the_o reason_n be_v because_o their_o knowledge_n be_v exceed_v little_a therefore_o it_o bring_v little_a profit_n to_o they_o they_o be_v beggarly_a they_o have_v little_a riches_n in_o they_o and_o they_o be_v impotent_a they_o can_v communicate_v little_a power_n and_o strength_n and_o efficacy_n to_o the_o inward_a man_n on_o the_o other_o side_n now_o the_o new_a covenant_n be_v strong_a and_o rich_a and_o lively_a and_o effectual_a and_o the_o reason_n be_v because_o there_o be_v more_o knowledge_n in_o it_o we_o be_v teach_v to_o know_v god_n better_a and_o to_o know_v the_o whole_a mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n better_o therefore_o grace_n i_o say_v if_o you_o will_v be_v strengthen_v in_o grace_n if_o we_o will_v be_v enable_v to_o keep_v the_o covenant_n more_o than_o they_o be_v labour_v to_o grow_v in_o knowledge_n let_v it_o not_o be_v unuseful_a unto_o you_o whatsoever_o be_v deliver_v but_o make_v benefit_n of_o it_o you_o we_o by_o this_o knowledge_n we_o be_v transform_v and_o change_v into_o the_o same_o image_n from_o glory_n to_o glory_n that_o be_v from_o one_o glorious_a degree_n of_o that_o image_n to_o another_o not_o that_o the_o very_a knowledge_n shall_v do_v it_o but_o it_o please_v the_o lord_n to_o accompany_v that_o knowledge_n by_o the_o spirit_n this_o be_v do_v say_v he_o as_o by_o the_o this_o overween_n this_o high_a prize_v of_o the_o creature_n if_o you_o find_v inconstancy_n in_o man_n why_o do_v you_o look_v for_o constancy_n in_o they_o they_o be_v creature_n if_o you_o look_v for_o stability_n in_o your_o estate_n and_o wonder_v why_o a_o change_n shall_v come_v i_o be_v heretofore_o rich_a and_o now_o i_o be_o poor_a i_o be_v honourable_a and_o now_o i_o be_o in_o disgrace_n why_o do_v thou_o expect_v stability_n in_o that_o which_o be_v subject_a to_o vanity_n thing_n will_v not_o trouble_v we_o if_o we_o do_v not_o expect_v too_o much_o from_o they_o if_o for_o a_o time_n they_o may_v resume_v their_o purpose_n again_o they_o wear_v they_o out_o and_o they_o step_v back_o to_o a_o resolution_n to_o continue_v in_o that_o sin_n they_o think_v thus_o with_o themselves_o i_o see_v it_o be_v a_o sin_n that_o prevail_v against_o i_o i_o be_o not_o able_a to_o resist_v it_o it_o be_v too_o strong_a for_o i_o and_o therefore_o i_o will_v go_v no_o
