no_o actual_a transgression_n and_o for_o this_o reason_n we_o say_v that_o all_o infant_n be_v exempt_a from_o the_o guilt_n of_o actual_a sin_n because_o they_o be_v not_o capable_a of_o the_o knowledge_n of_o a_o law_n but_o this_o be_v not_o our_o question_n the_o point_n in_o hand_n be_v concern_v the_o guilt_n of_o original_a sin_n suppose_v there_o be_v no_o law_n give_v personal_o into_o the_o meaning_n of_o the_o word_n and_o be_v by_o nature_n the_o child_n of_o wrath_n as_o well_o as_o other_o do_v not_o the_o apostle_n go_v here_o to_o the_o corruption_n of_o nature_n as_o to_o the_o fountain_n and_o whereas_o you_o say_v that_o the_o ephesian_n by_o the_o course_n of_o their_o life_n live_v in_o rebellion_n against_o god_n be_v natural_o the_o child_n of_o wrath_n do_v not_o you_o by_o this_o affirmation_n yield_v the_o cause_n for_o admit_v that_o the_o ephesian_n do_v by_o their_o own_o free_a act_n live_v in_o disobedience_n against_o god_n yet_o all_o come_v to_o one_o issue_n when_o they_o do_v it_o by_o a_o natural_a propension_n receive_v from_o adam_n the_o common_a root_n of_o the_o corruption_n of_o nature_n but_o you_o further_o say_v it_o can_v be_v expect_v that_o those_o who_o never_o commit_v any_o action_n of_o disobedience_n shall_v have_v this_o text_n apply_v to_o they_o but_o infant_n neither_o do_v nor_o can_v commit_v any_o act_n of_o rebellion_n therefore_o this_o will_v not_o prove_v that_o infant_n be_v so_o the_o child_n of_o wrath_n by_o nature_n page_n 152._o this_o expression_n that_o infant_n be_v not_o so_o the_o child_n of_o wrath_n by_o nature_n be_v as_o logician_n call_v it_o a_o ignorance_n of_o the_o elench_v for_o we_o do_v not_o say_v that_o infant_n in_o every_o respect_n be_v so_o the_o child_n of_o as_o they_o do_v partake_v of_o the_o corruption_n of_o the_o nature_n for_o the_o clear_n of_o the_o point_n let_v we_o distinguish_v three_o sort_n of_o man_n that_o be_v liable_a to_o wrath_n the_o first_o be_v such_o as_o reject_v christ_n in_o the_o public_a tender_n of_o the_o gospel_n if_o i_o have_v not_o come_v and_o speak_v unto_o they_o they_o shall_v have_v have_v no_o sin_n but_o now_o they_o have_v no_o cloak_n for_o their_o sin_n joh._n 12.48_o in_o this_o sense_n we_o say_v that_o not_o only_a infant_n but_o also_o the_o natural_a ephesian_n themselves_o be_v free_a from_o the_o guilt_n of_o sin_n for_o if_o infant_n as_o you_o affirm_v can_v sin_v nor_o man_n neither_o if_o they_o can_v true_o maintain_v that_o they_o rceive_v no_o law_n in_o this_o sense_n the_o ephesian_n serve_v divers_a lust_n and_o be_v by_o nature_n the_o child_n of_o wrath_n as_o well_o as_o other_o the_o sin_n of_o their_o life_n though_o they_o be_v their_o own_o voluntary_a act_n yet_o they_o be_v the_o proper_a and_o genuine_a fruit_n of_o their_o sinful_a and_o deprave_a nature_n in_o this_o as_o in_o the_o former_a sense_n i_o do_v willing_o yield_v that_o infant_n can_v sin_v as_o those_o that_o disobey_v the_o gospel_n because_o they_o have_v no_o discovery_n of_o christ_n in_o the_o public_a ministry_n of_o the_o word_n neither_o can_v they_o sin_v as_o do_v the_o gentile_n which_o go_v against_o the_o general_a conviction_n of_o the_o godhead_n in_o the_o conscience_n and_o wilful_o hold_v the_o truth_n in_o unrighteousness_n three_o they_o be_v liable_a to_o wrath_n who_o though_o they_o never_o commit_v actual_a sin_n yet_o do_v partake_v of_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o nature_n and_o of_o the_o guilt_n of_o that_o sin_n if_o this_o be_v not_o so_o what_o be_v the_o meaning_n of_o the_o word_n and_o be_v by_o nature_n the_o child_n of_o wrath_n as_o well_o as_o other_o in_o a_o sense_n than_o it_o be_v true_a that_o so_o far_o as_o man_n be_v by_o nature_n so_o far_o they_o be_v the_o child_n of_o wrath_n here_o then_o two_o objection_n come_v to_o be_v answer_v the_o one_o in_o respect_n of_o infant_n the_o other_o in_o respect_n of_o they_o who_o live_v out_o of_o the_o bound_n of_o the_o visible_a church_n first_o in_o the_o case_n of_o infant_n some_o may_v say_v they_o must_v unavoidable_o lie_v under_o wrath_n if_o this_o once_o be_v admit_v that_o by_o nature_n they_o be_v the_o child_n of_o wrath_n i_o answer_v the_o consequence_n be_v not_o good_a for_o though_o by_o nature_n they_o be_v liable_a to_o wrath_n yet_o they_o do_v not_o unavoidable_o lie_v under_o a_o necessity_n of_o perish_v as_o for_o example_n david_n by_o his_o murder_n and_o adultery_n peter_n by_o the_o denial_n of_o his_o master_n and_o paul_n by_o persecute_v of_o the_o church_n do_v fall_v under_o wrath_n yet_o wrath_n do_v not_o seize_v upon_o they_o so_o infant_n though_o by_o nature_n they_o be_v the_o child_n of_o wrath_n yet_o that_o wrath_n due_a unto_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o nature_n do_v not_o lay_v hold_n upon_o they_o because_o christ_n have_v satisfy_v the_o justice_n of_o god_n second_o if_o it_o be_v further_o allege_v that_o they_o which_o live_v out_o of_o the_o bosom_n of_o the_o visible_a church_n must_v lie_v under_o a_o necessity_n of_o perish_v not_o only_o because_o by_o nature_n they_o be_v the_o child_n of_o wrath_n but_o because_o they_o want_v the_o gospel_n the_o mean_n of_o their_o salvation_n here_o i_o answer_v though_o they_o want_v the_o most_o effectual_a outward_a mean_n yet_o they_o do_v not_o simple_o want_v all_o the_o mean_n nay_o i_o may_v affirm_v there_o be_v no_o man_n who_o eye_n be_v true_o open_v through_o the_o conviction_n of_o the_o spirit_n to_o see_v his_o lose_a condition_n who_o be_v under_o a_o absolute_a necessity_n of_o perish_v for_o god_n who_o be_v a_o god_n of_o grace_n and_o mercy_n be_v ready_a to_o help_v they_o that_o come_v to_o he_o in_o a_o sense_n of_o their_o misery_n we_o have_v a_o proof_n for_o this_o in_o the_o word_n of_o hanain_n the_o prophet_n to_o asah_n the_o king_n the_o eye_n of_o the_o lord_n run_v to_o and_o fro_o through_o the_o whole_a earth_n to_o show_v himself_o strong_a in_o the_o behalf_n of_o they_o who_o heart_n be_v perfect_a towards_o he_o 1_o chr._n 16.9_o he_o do_v not_o speak_v in_o the_o case_n of_o asah_n or_o of_o the_o family_n of_o david_n alone_o but_o the_o word_n be_v more_o general_a the_o eye_n of_o the_o lord_n go_v through_o the_o whole_a earth_n to_o help_v all_o those_o whosoever_o they_o be_v that_o have_v perfect_a heart_n towards_o he_o from_o whence_o i_o gather_v that_o man_n be_v not_o leave_v under_o a_o unavoidable_a necessity_n of_o perish_v thus_o i_o
