be_v in_o darkness_n and_o see_v no_o light_n trust_v in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n yet_o this_o insinuate_v to_o we_o that_o he_o have_v a_o secret_a will_v contrary_v to_o his_o reveal_v and_o though_o he_o speak_v we_o fair_a yet_o there_o be_v seven_o abomination_n in_o his_o heart_n such_o blasphemous_a thought_n of_o god_n issue_n from_o this_o fountain_n of_o enmity_n this_o covetousness_n in_o the_o root_n and_o herewith_o also_o it_o set_v a_o great_a justre_n upon_o the_o thing_n here_o below_o as_o if_o true_a blessedness_n stand_v herein_o and_o lead_v to_o bless_v the_o covetous_a who_o the_o lord_n abhor_v psal_n 10._o 3._o and_o to_o judge_v that_o if_o we_o have_v a_o abundance_n of_o these_o thing_n we_o shall_v see_v no_o sorrow_n yea_o to_o look_v upon_o it_o as_o a_o undoubted_a evidence_n of_o god_n peculiar_a love_n and_o favour_n to_o we_o zech._n 11._o 5._o and_o from_o hence_o spring_v this_o hellish_a lust_n and_o love_n to_o the_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n which_o be_v like_o the_o root_n of_o it_o and_o bear_v its_o name_n for_o as_o the_o wisdom_n of_o the_o flesh_n be_v enmity_n so_o be_v the_o love_n of_o the_o world_n also_o and_o so_o the_o apostle_n say_v know_v you_o not_o that_o the_o friendship_n or_o love_n of_o the_o world_n be_v enmity_n with_o god_n jam._n 4._o 4._o this_o be_v like_a unto_o and_o the_o spawn_n of_o the_o carnal_a mind_n and_o as_o the_o consequent_a thereof_o lead_v we_o to_o labour_v to_o be_v rich_a hence_o that_o pro._n 23._o 4._o and_o 3._o 5._o it_o be_v our_o wisdom_n and_o understanding_n thing_n affect_v the_o heart_n and_o it_o be_v set_v upon_o they_o and_o therefore_o covetousness_n be_v call_v the_o love_n of_o money_n 1_o tim._n 6._o 10._o and_o many_o time_n lover_n of_o silver_n be_v render_v covetous_a see_v luk._n 16._o 14._o 1_o tim._n 3._o 3._o 2_o tim._n 3._o 2._o and_o this_o be_v put_v in_o in_o this_o description_n of_o covetousness_n as_o a_o part_n of_o it_o and_o immediate_a cause_n of_o the_o eager_a desire_n after_o more_o that_o by_o show_v more_o be_v contain_v in_o it_o then_o a_o desire_n of_o more_o some_o may_v be_v undecieve_v who_o be_v pollute_v herewith_o and_o yet_o excuse_v themselves_o for_o say_v some_o who_o give_v too_o much_o cause_n to_o other_o to_o suspect_v their_o heart_n be_v pollute_v with_o this_o iniquity_n by_o their_o withhold_v more_o than_o be_v meet_v we_o thank_v god_n we_o be_v content_a with_o what_o god_n have_v give_v to_o we_o and_o give_v we_o in_o serve_v he_o in_o his_o providence_n and_o do_v not_o desire_v another_o we_o covet_v no_o man_n gold_n silver_z or_o apparel_n we_o have_v enough_o and_o be_v content_a with_o our_o portion_n to_o such_o it_o may_v be_v say_v 1._o though_o it_o this_o love_n of_o money_n there_o be_v a_o lust_a after_o more_o and_o though_o man_n heart_n persuade_v they_o otherwise_o yet_o they_o be_v deceitful_a above_o all_o thing_n and_o he_o that_o mind_n 1_o joh._n 2._o 16._o with_o eph._n 2._o 3._o thus_o it_o be_v say_v of_o the_o king_n of_o babylon_n who_o dominion_n be_v very_o large_a so_o as_o he_o may_v have_v be_v content_a yet_o he_o it_o such_o be_v its_o unsatisfiedness_n that_o it_o break_v all_o bound_n such_o a_o man_n be_v not_o content_a with_o god_n provision_n though_o he_o have_v prepare_v all_o thing_n for_o we_o in_o his_o son_n and_o make_v such_o provision_n in_o his_o great_a and_o precious_a promise_n that_o in_o exercise_v ourselves_o to_o godliness_n he_o will_v give_v we_o what_o be_v needful_a thereto_o the_o lord_n will_v be_v our_o shepherd_n therefore_o we_o shall_v not_o want_v yet_o here_o be_v no_o sensual_a satisfaction_n
there_o be_v a_o continue_a crave_v as_o if_o this_o be_v nothing_o yea_o though_o he_o have_v give_v we_o allowance_n to_o seek_v of_o he_o day_n by_o day_n our_o daily_a bread_n who_o have_v also_o power_n to_o forgive_v we_o our_o sin_n that_o may_v cause_v he_o to_o withhold_v it_o from_o we_o and_o to_o seek_v it_o in_o such_o work_n of_o his_o providence_n as_o he_o give_v we_o to_o be_v exercise_v in_o that_o we_o may_v take_v our_o own_o portion_n and_o give_v to_o other_o so_o as_o in_o all_o do_v it_o to_o his_o glory_n yea_o and_o though_o he_o give_v to_o all_o flesh_n their_o food_n and_o do_v man_n good_a fill_v their_o heart_n with_o food_n and_o gladness_n yet_o as_o not_o content_v with_o all_o this_o there_o be_v still_o a_o cry_n give_v give_v a_o desire_n after_o the_o forbid_a fruit_n as_o if_o nothing_o else_o will_v make_v happy_a and_o in_o the_o eat_n of_o this_o we_o shall_v be_v as_o god_n and_o have_v a_o selfsufficiency_n in_o our_o own_o hand_n hence_o covetousness_n be_v oppose_v to_o a_o be_v content_a with_o such_o thing_n as_o we_o have_v heb._n 13._o 5._o thus_o it_o be_v with_o ahah_n though_o he_o govern_v the_o kingdom_n of_o israel_n and_o therefore_o have_v large_a possession_n yet_o because_o naboth_n will_v not_o give_v the_o inheritance_n of_o his_o father_n to_o he_o he_o be_v heavy_a and_o displease_v as_o if_o all_o he_o have_v be_v nothing_o 1_o king_n 21._o 2-4_a yea_o thus_o it_o be_v with_o the_o first_o man_n adam_n though_o god_n have_v give_v a_o world_n of_o creature_n to_o he_o and_o give_v now_o but_o a_o mean_n to_o a_o further_o and_o he_o as_o much_o unsatisfied_a as_o before_o as_o be_v amnon_n when_o his_o former_a lust_n be_v satisfy_v 2_o sam._n 13._o 15._o and_o it_o can_v be_v otherwise_o while_o the_o heart_n be_v incline_v to_o its_o covetousness_n because_o there_o be_v no_o rest_n to_o the_o soul_n in_o these_o thing_n all_o that_o which_o be_v not_o bread_n be_v unsatisfy_v isa_n 55._o 2._o he_o that_o love_v silver_n shall_v not_o be_v satisfy_v with_o silver_n nor_o he_o that_o love_v abundance_n with_o increase_n eccl._n 5._o 10._o pro._n 21._o 26._o he_o may_v indeed_o resolve_v with_o the_o rich_a man_n in_o the_o parable_n which_o our_o saviour_n immediate_o join_v to_o this_o admonition_n and_o instruction_n that_o he_o will_v say_v to_o his_o with_o he_o that_o there_o be_v another_o world_n to_o conquer_v and_o possess_v and_o as_o this_o be_v the_o nature_n of_o this_o evil_a so_o that_o he_o propose_v to_o himself_o in_o it_o be_v 4._o that_o he_o may_v be_v rich_a in_o or_o towards_o himself_o that_o he_o may_v be_v self-sufficient_a as_o oppose_v to_o the_o be_v rich_a towards_o god_n this_o be_v the_o end_n of_o his_o greedy_a and_o covetous_a desire_n that_o he_o may_v heap_v up_o for_o himself_o a_o man_n may_v as_o before_o be_v say_v with_o god_n allowance_n desire_v of_o he_o to_o give_v we_o food_n convenient_a and_o to_o bless_v the_o work_n of_o our_o hand_n so_o as_o herein_o submit_v to_o god_n to_o this_o end_n that_o we_o may_v be_v accommodate_v to_o seek_v after_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n and_o the_o righteousness_n thereof_o that_o we_o may_v more_o know_v and_o glorify_v it_o and_o be_v rich_a towards_o god_n in_o dispense_n according_o to_o our_o capacity_n as_o he_o have_v give_v we_o instruction_n and_o encouragement_n but_o now_o the_o end_n of_o this_o greedy_a desire_n be_v that_o he_o may_v lay_v up_o for_o himself_o treasure_n on_o earth_n where_o moth_n and_o rust_v corrupt_a and_o where_o thief_n break_v thorough_a and_o steal_v of_o which_o we_o be_v admonish_v matthew_n 6._o 23._o we_o be_v not_o forbid_v to_o lay_v up_o treasure_n for_o ourselves_o but_o be_v allow_v instruct_v and_o encourage_v to_o provide_v ourselves_o bag_n which_o wax_v not_o old_a a_o treasure_n in_o the_o heaven_n that_o fail_v not_o to_o lay_v up_o for_o ourselves_o treasure_n in_o heaven_n and_o that_o in_o give_v to_o they_o that_o stand_v in_o need_n as_o the_o love_n of_o christ_n constrain_v to_o do_v good_a to_o all_o but_o especial_o to_o to_o the_o household_n of_o faith_n as_o we_o have_v opportunity_n with_o this_o assurance_n that_o our_o labour_n of_o love_n shall_v not_o be_v in_o vain_a in_o the_o lord_n and_o thus_o do_v we_o shall_v lay_v up_o for_o ourselves_o in_o store_n a_o good_a foundation_n not_o for_o the_o present_a to_o build_v on_o or_o that_o this_o shall_v now_o be_v the_o foundation_n of_o our_o faith_n and_o hope_v and_o matter_n
