think_v good_a as_o for_o example_n we_o shall_v have_v very_o many_o which_o will_v not_o stick_v with_o god_n to_o come_v to_o the_o sermon_n on_o a_o sunday_n and_o to_o be_v present_a at_o the_o prayer_n of_o the_o faithful_a and_o to_o make_v some_o show_n of_o religion_n and_o yet_o they_o will_v have_v god_n to_o give_v they_o free_a choice_n to_o do_v what_o they_o list_v at_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o week_n after_o or_o if_o they_o come_v to_o a_o sermon_n often_o than_o on_o the_o sunday_n it_o seem_v to_o they_o that_o they_o have_v do_v very_o well_o that_o they_o be_v thorough_o discharge_v of_o their_o duty_n if_o they_o tarry_v there_o but_o one_o hour_n but_o because_o they_o may_v be_v set_v at_o more_o liberty_n they_o will_v not_o stick_v to_o say_v that_o the_o commandment_n of_o god_n not_o that_o he_o protest_v that_o he_o have_v do_v it_o of_o himself_o nor_o of_o his_o own_o mind_n but_o because_o that_o god_n have_v give_v he_o both_o the_o will_n and_o the_o power_n to_o do_v the_o same_o and_o to_o prove_v it_o to_o be_v so_o we_o shall_v never_o see_v that_o david_n brag_v of_o himself_o in_o any_o one_o place_n that_o he_o will_v any_o similitude_n the_o imaginative_a conceit_n of_o man_n when_o as_o they_o intend_v to_o bring_v themselves_o into_o credit_n and_o go_v about_o to_o advance_v themselves_o even_o as_o ambition_n rule_v our_o nature_n until_o such_o time_n as_o god_n have_v tame_v we_o by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n and_o humble_v and_o make_v we_o gentle_a and_o meek_a and_o now_o that_o we_o may_v have_v the_o true_a and_o natural_a meaning_n of_o this_o place_n let_v we_o see_v in_o effect_n that_o david_n protest_v that_o he_o love_v the_o law_n of_o god_n say_v that_o he_o remove_v quite_o from_o he_o whatsoever_o may_v withdraw_v he_o from_o it_o now_o he_o speak_v not_o this_o here_o to_o the_o end_n to_o brag_v of_o himself_o but_o rather_o that_o this_o example_n shall_v be_v for_o our_o better_a instruction_n for_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n have_v speak_v it_o by_o his_o mouth_n to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v understand_v and_o know_v which_o be_v the_o mean_a whereby_o we_o may_v be_v whole_o give_v to_o the_o service_n of_o god_n and_o to_o take_v hold_n of_o the_o law_n with_o such_o a_o affection_n as_o that_o our_o heart_n may_v be_v as_o it_o be_v even_o fast_o tie_v thereto_o forget_v all_o hawtines_n or_o pride_n yea_o even_o study_v how_o too_o separate_v ourselves_o from_o those_o which_o any_o way_n may_v draw_v we_o too_o evil_a and_o not_o too_o communicate_v with_o rule_v in_o the_o love_n which_o we_o ought_v to_o have_v to_o the_o law_n of_o god_n now_o then_o let_v we_o keep_v well_o in_o mind_n this_o admonition_n as_o a_o thing_n most_o profitable_a for_o ought_v but_o rather_o that_o we_o may_v be_v greeve_v &_o loathe_v therewith_o &_o so_o to_o leave_v it_o as_o if_o it_o be_v a_o grievous_a matter_n &_o a_o occasion_n of_o hevine_v since_o than_o true_a that_o so_o long_o as_o we_o live_v here_o in_o this_o world_n we_o can_v not_o but_o both_o see_v and_o hear_v a_o great_a many_o of_o thing_n but_o yet_o must_v we_o bridle_v our_o sense_n cause_n david_n declare_v that_o there_o be_v but_o one_o only_a mean_a to_o wit_n that_o we_o shall_v whole_o settle_v our_o eye_n upon_o the_o law_n of_o god_n without_o turn_v away_o from_o it_o either_o on_o this_o side_n or_o on_o that_o as_o common_o and_o usual_o we_o do_v afterward_o he_o go_v on_o and_o say_v i_o will_v praise_v thou_o with_o a_o upright_o heart_n when_o i_o shall_v settle_v and_o abide_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o a_o man_n according_a to_o that_o which_o have_v heretofore_o be_v say_v for_o a_o number_n may_v imagine_v of_o their_o own_o brain_n what_o the_o law_n of_o god_n be_v but_o in_o the_o mean_a while_o it_o stand_v so_o with_o they_o that_o when_o we_o behold_v their_o life_n and_o conversation_n it_o appear_v that_o they_o have_v profit_v no_o whit_n at_o all_o in_o his_o school_n it_o be_v meet_v therefore_o that_o out_o heart_n be_v bring_v to_o the_o school_n of_o god_n to_o weet_v that_o whatsoever_o he_o teach_v we_o it_o may_v be_v thorough_o imprint_v and_o engrave_v within_o and_o this_o be_v that_o manner_n of_o learning_n whereof_o david_n here_o speak_v for_o if_o we_o have_v be_v exercise_v in_o this_o sort_n that_o we_o have_v hold_v the_o doctrine_n and_o law_n of_o god_n we_o may_v very_o well_o glorify_v his_o bless_a name_n to_o weet_v we_o may_v true_o praise_v he_o as_o he_o have_v command_v us._n when_o he_o say_v i_o will_v keep_v thy_o statute_n that_o be_v that_o he_o be_v so_o resolve_a and_o confirm_v in_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o law_n that_o he_o have_v overcome_v all_o the_o affection_n and_o lust_n of_o the_o flesh_n and_o the_o world_n which_o may_v resist_v and_o hinder_v he_o in_o the_o service_n of_o god_n he_o have_v say_v before_o o_o that_o my_o way_n be_v make_v so_o direct_a he_o desire_v as_o a_o man_n which_o when_o he_o can_v have_v that_o which_o he_o wish_v for_o be_v in_o great_a pain_n and_o travel_v it_o behove_v we_o also_o to_o pour_v out_o such_o sigh_n &_o groan_n consider_v the_o rebellion_n of_o our_o flesh_n which_o be_v so_o contrary_a to_o the_o righteousness_n of_o god_n that_o all_o our_o thought_n and_o affection_n as_o be_v abovesaid_a be_v so_o many_o gainesayinge_n that_o they_o turn_v we_o clean_o away_o from_o his_o obeisance_n we_o must_v therefore_o say_v
god_n and_o this_o be_v a_o very_a fit_a similitude_n for_o the_o purpose_n we_o know_v that_o a_o man_n in_o a_o strange_a country_n will_v think_v himself_o to_o be_v a_o strange_a and_o forlorn_a man_n so_o that_o if_o he_o have_v not_o a_o conduct_n and_o guide_v he_o know_v not_o what_o shall_v become_v of_o he_o even_o so_o fare_v it_o with_o we_o if_o we_o be_v not_o direct_v and_o conduct_v by_o the_o hand_n and_o power_n of_o god_n and_o why_o so_o because_o we_o be_v as_o stranger_n here_o in_o this_o world_n it_o be_v very_o true_a that_o we_o be_v but_o too_o too_o much_o tie_v unto_o our_o affection_n and_o will_n and_o yet_o out_o alas_o our_o sense_n and_o wit_n be_v so_o confound_v that_o we_o know_v not_o what_o way_n to_o take_v or_o hold_v except_o we_o be_v show_v it_o loe_o here_o the_o meaning_n of_o the_o similitude_n which_o david_n here_o use_v in_o say_v that_o he_o be_v a_o stranger_n in_o the_o world_n which_o be_v that_o he_o complain_v that_o he_o be_v a_o strange_a and_o forlorn_a man_n and_o therefore_o beseech_v god_n to_o guide_v he_o by_o his_o word_n now_o it_o follow_v my_o hart_n break_v out_o for_o the_o desire_n untoo_o thy_o judgement_n always_o when_o he_o say_v that_o his_o soul_n break_v out_o it_o be_v too_o protest_v that_o he_o desire_v not_o that_o thing_n of_o god_n which_o we_o have_v hear_v either_o for_o fashion_n sake_n or_o countenance_n as_o many_o do_v which_o beseech_v god_n very_o often_o too_o inlighten_v confirm_v and_o guide_v they_o in_o the_o truth_n of_o his_o word_n but_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n they_o never_o seek_v after_o it_o as_o they_o shall_v do_v now_o this_o be_v but_o after_o a_o sort_n and_o god_n will_v not_o be_v thus_o mock_v for_o in_o thus_o do_v we_o do_v nothing_o else_o but_o profane_a his_o holy_a name_n when_o as_o we_o make_v such_o request_n as_o proceed_v not_o from_o a_o true_a affection_n and_o desire_v loe_o here_o wherefore_o david_n say_v that_o his_o soul_n break_v out_o for_o this_o word_n emport_v as_o much_o as_o if_o his_o soul_n have_v utter_o faint_v my_o soul_n then_o faint_v for_o the_o desire_n which_o it_o have_v to_o thy_o commandment_n wherefore_o here_o be_v three_o thing_n to_o be_v consider_v off_o the_o one_o be_v that_o if_o we_o will_v obtain_v at_o god_n hand_n to_o be_v conduct_v by_o he_o and_o to_o have_v his_o word_n to_o be_v our_o way_n and_o direction_n we_o shall_v not_o make_v such_o a_o hypocritical_a nor_o cold_a prayer_n unto_o he_o with_o mock_v of_o he_o thereby_o but_o with_o such_o a_o true_a desire_n as_o carry_v we_o even_o out_o of_o ourselves_o and_o to_o make_v no_o such_o account_n of_o this_o present_a life_n but_o to_o be_v well_o advise_v to_o shoot_v at_o a_o high_a matter_n and_o thus_o much_o as_o touch_v the_o first_o point_n which_o here_o we_o have_v to_o note_v the_o second_o be_v that_o this_o desire_n ought_v not_o to_o be_v only_o as_o a_o waver_a desire_n but_o a_o ardent_a and_o a_o hot_a desire_n for_o he_o say_v that_o his_o soul_n have_v faint_v and_o why_o so_o let_v we_o here_o a_o little_a consider_v what_o our_o appetite_n and_o lust_n be_v when_o we_o turn_v ourselves_o away_o from_o god_n and_o give_v ourselves_o whole_o to_o worldly_a thing_n they_o be_v so_o excessive_a and_o inordinate_a that_o it_o be_v even_o pitiful_a be_v without_o end_n and_o measure_n but_o if_o we_o have_v a_o lean_a desire_n &_o such_o a_o one_o as_o i_o know_v not_o what_o to_o walk_v according_a to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n this_o desire_n will_v be_v as_o soon_o allay_v as_o a_o drop_n of_o wine_n put_v into_o a_o hundred_o time_n so_o much_o water_n i_o beseech_v you_o what_o shall_v that_o be_v shall_v it_o taste_v any_o more_o as_o wine_n even_o so_o forcible_a shall_v the_o good_a affection_n of_o a_o faithful_a man_n be_v if_o this_o affection_n be_v not_o fervent_a and_o very_o vehement_a it_o shall_v be_v soon_o choke_v by_o the_o corruption_n of_o our_o carnal_a passion_n &_o affection_n which_o as_o i_o have_v before_o say_v have_v neither_o measure_n modesty_n nor_o temperance_n see_v then_o for_o the_o second_o point_n what_o we_o have_v here_o to_o note_v in_o this_o behalf_n to_o wit_n that_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o that_o we_o have_v a_o mean_a desire_n to_o serve_v god_n for_o that_o will_v be_v very_o soon_o quench_v in_o we_o and_o be_v make_v nothing_o worth_a but_o we_o must_v be_v so_o attentive_a thereto_o as_o that_o we_o may_v able_a to_o say_v that_o our_o soul_n faint_v and_o languish_v that_o our_o power_n and_o strength_n drop_v and_o melt_v away_o as_o it_o be_v until_o such_o time_n as_o god_n relieve_v we_o in_o grant_v that_o unto_o we_o which_o we_o require_v of_o he_o the_o three_o point_n which_o we_o have_v here_o to_o note_v be_v the_o firmness_n and_o constancy_n in_o this_o our_o desire_n and_o see_v here_o why_o david_n be_v not_o content_v with_o this_o say_n that_o his_o soul_n be_v break_v out_o but_o he_o say_v always_o as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v this_o be_v not_o a_o blast_n of_o wound_n but_o a_o root_a affection_n in_o his_o heart_n and_o that_o he_o persevere_v therein_o now_o these_o three_o thing_n be_v most_o necessary_a for_o we_o see_v in_o the_o first_o place_n that_o we_o be_v as_o it_o be_v by_o nature_n incline_v to_o vanity_n because_o that_o be_v so_o addict_v unto_o the_o world_n we_o think_v no_o whit_n at_o all_o of_o heaven_n we_o ought_v therefore_o to_o be_v so_o much_o the_o more_o very_a attentive_a to_o this_o doctrine_n &_o to_o have_v a_o burn_a desire_n to_o follow_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o beside_o this_o our_o affection_n ought_v to_o be_v so_o vehement_a as_o that_o it_o may_v be_v able_a to_o have_v the_o dominion_n over_o all_o our_o affection_n which_o hinder_v we_o to_o cleave_v unto_o our_o god_n and_o even_o to_o be_v marvelous_o ravish_v therewith_o now_o it_o have_v need_v to_o be_v mighty_o strengthen_v with_o the_o power_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n for_o our_o lust_n be_v too_o too_o mad_a and_o furious_a if_o god_n stretch_v not_o forth_o his_o arm_n unto_o it_o what_o shall_v become_v thereof_o and_o put_v the_o case_n that_o we_o have_v a_o good_a desire_n sure_o it_o will_v very_o soon_o vanish_v away_o in_o us._n we_o must_v be_v wonderful_a fervent_a therein_o and_o afterward_o when_o we_o hall_n have_v such_o a_o good_a and_o steadfast_a affection_n we_o must_v be_v wonderful_o in_o love_n with_o the_o word_n of_o god_n not_o for_o a_o day_n nor_o yet_o for_o a_o short_a time_n but_o even_o so_o long_o as_o we_o live_v it_o follow_v soon_o after_o thou_o have_v destroy_v the_o proud_a curse_a be_v they_o that_o do_v err_v from_o all_o thy_o commandment_n david_n add_v hereto_o a_o other_o reason_n whereby_o he_o be_v more_o inflame_a to_o pray_v unto_o god_n and_o to_o address_v himself_o unto_o he_o to_o be_v teach_v in_o his_o word_n to_o wit_n we_o pray_v with_o david_n that_o it_o will_v please_v god_n to_o make_v we_o so_o too_o stick_v unto_o he_o and_o his_o word_n as_o we_o never_o be_v confound_v now_o too_o conclude_v with_o these_o eight_o verse_n apart_o david_n say_v i_o will_v run_v the_o way_n of_o thy_o comaundement_n when_o thou_o shall_v enlarge_v my_o heart_n when_o he_o say_v that_o when_o god_n have_v set_v his_o heart_n at_o liberty_n he_o will_v run_v it_o be_v too_o show_v unto_o we_o that_o when_o our_o heart_n be_v enclose_v and_o fast_o shut_v up_o that_o we_o be_v not_o able_a so_o much_o as_o too_o as_o we_o be_v fast_o shut_v up_o we_o can_v once_o stir_v out_o of_o the_o place_n to_o go_v on_o forward_o in_o the_o way_n of_o salvation_n and_o how_o can_v we_o then_o run_v when_o as_o he_o shall_v have_v set_v our_o heart_n at_o liberty_n to_o wit_n that_o he_o shall_v have_v so_o dispose_v &_o order_v we_o as_o that_o we_o shall_v free_o bend_v ourselves_o &_o sully_v &_o whole_o yield_v our_o affection_n unto_o he_o for_o otherwise_o we_o have_v our_o heart_n fast_o shut_v up_o shall_v always_o become_v the_o bondslave_n of_o sin_n it_o be_v very_o true_a hat_n while_o we_o be_v in_o this_o world_n we_o never_o run_v so_o fast_o ne_o yet_o so_o perfect_o as_o be_v require_v yea_o we_o shall_v many_o time_n go_v as_o it_o be_v halt_v where_o in_o deed_n we_o shall_v make_v haste_n but_o thus_o it_o be_v with_o we_o that_o whensoever_o he_o shall_v govern_v we_o with_o his_o spirit_n and_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v under_o the_o conduct_n of_o our_o head_n &_o captain_n jesus_n christ_n we_o may_v say_v with_o david_n that_o we_o do_v not_o only_o walk_v in_o his_o commandment_n but_o that_o we_o also_o run_v in_o they_o yea_o so_o that_o our_o affection_n be_v not_o hypocritical_a and_o that_o our_o zeal_n be_v also_o fervent_a to_o addict_v ourselves_o unto_o our_o good_a god_n since_o he_o have_v place_v we_o in_o the_o world_n to_o this_o end_n to_o obey_v he_o and_o too_o glorify_v his_o holy_a name_n and_o according_a to_o this_o doctrine_n let_v we_o prostrate_v ourselves_o before_o the_o face_n of_o our_o good_a god_n in_o acknowledge_v our_o sin_n beseech_v he_o that_o it_o will_v please_v he_o to_o make_v we_o to_o feel_v our_o sin_n and_o iniquity_n more_o and_o more_o &_o that_o it_o will_v also_o please_v he_o to_o make_v we_o so_o to_o remember_v they_o that_o we_o may_v learn_v to_o acknowledge_v how_o necessary_a it_o be_v for_o we_o to_o be_v more_o &_o more_o increase_v &_o confirm_v in_o his_o grace_n which_o he_o bestow_v upon_o we_o to_o the_o end_n that_o in_o allow_v &_o esteem_v of_o his_o benefit_n as_o it_o become_v we_o we_o may_v render_v unto_o he_o our_o humble_a and_o hearty_a thanks_n beseech_v he_o also_o to_o continue_v we_o in_o such_o sort_n in_o his_o holy_a vocation_n as_o that_o we_o may_v be_v glorify_v in_o the_o latter_a day_n in_o have_v fight_v a_o good_a fight_n and_o that_o we_o may_v enjoy_v the_o prize_n &_o reward_v of_o the_o victory_n to_o triumph_v in_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n let_v we_o beseech_v he_o that_o he_o will_v not_o only_o give_v we_o this_o grace_n but_o also_o all_o the_o people_n and_o nation_n of_o the_o world_n etc._n etc._n the_o five_o sermon_n of_o the_o hundred_o and_o nineteenth_o psalm_n he._n teach_v i_o o_o lord_n the_o way_n of_o thy_o statute_n and_o i_o will_v keep_v it_o unto_o the_o end_n give_v i_o understanding_n and_o i_o will_v keep_v thy_o law_n yea_o i_o will_v keep_v it_o with_o my_o whole_a heart_n direct_v i_o in_o the_o path_n of_o thy_o commandment_n for_o therein_o be_v my_o delight_n incline_v my_o heart_n unto_o thy_o testimony_n and_o not_o to_o covetousness_n turn_v away_o my_o eye_n from_o regard_v vanity_n and_o quicken_v thou_o i_o in_o thy_o way_n
beguile_v his_o neighbour_n and_o crafty_o invent_v how_o to_o give_v himself_o too_o all_o iniquity_n such_o be_v the_o wisdom_n of_o this_o world_n but_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n let_v we_o note_v this_o by_o the_o way_n that_o these_o word_n be_v not_o speak_v without_o cause_n too_o wit_n that_o all_o our_o wisdom_n and_o reason_n consist_v herein_o that_o we_o walk_v in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n and_o seek_v after_o his_o will_n yea_o and_o too_o hold_v we_o too_o it_o in_o the_o second_o place_n as_o david_n have_v already_o protest_v that_o we_o be_v not_o capable_a to_o understande_v the_o law_n of_o god_n and_o the_o content_n thereof_o if_o we_o be_v not_o teach_v from_o above_o that_o be_v by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n he_o also_o add_v that_o he_o can_v have_v no_o good_a affection_n nor_o desire_n to_o give_v himself_o thereto_o until_o such_o time_n as_o his_o heart_n be_v reform_v the_o law_n of_o god_n may_v seem_v to_o be_v but_o a_o common_a thing_n yea_o we_o ourselves_o do_v see_v that_o the_o proud_a man_n of_o this_o world_n contemn_v it_o as_o a_o thing_n too_o too_o common_a but_o yet_o as_o david_n have_v before_o say_v god_n have_v set_v down_o untoo_o we_o in_o his_o law_n wonderful_a secret_n which_o he_o here_o repete_v not_o in_o vain_a that_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v that_o in_o receive_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n from_o heaven_n he_o shall_v be_v conduct_v to_o the_o end_n to_o follow_v the_o commandment_n of_o god_n now_o he_o namely_o say_v that_o i_o will_v keep_v yea_o that_o i_o will_v keep_v it_o with_o my_o whole_a hart_n this_o be_v no_o superfluous_a repetition_n when_o he_o say_v that_o i_o will_v keep_v yea_o that_o i_o will_v keep_v it_o with_o my_o whole_a heart_n for_o behold_v what_o it_o be_v that_o abuse_v a_o great_a number_n of_o man_n so_o that_o they_o can_v be_v reprehend_v by_o man_n that_o their_o life_n be_v not_o so_o dissolute_a as_o that_o they_o may_v be_v point_v at_o and_o be_v not_o bring_v to_o rebuke_v and_o shame_n loe_o these_o man_n be_v like_o little_a angel_n they_o make_v themselves_o believe_v that_o they_o be_v more_o than_o just_a before_o god_n they_o feel_v themselves_o guilty_a in_o nothing_o for_o this_o cause_n then_o david_n have_v say_v that_o he_o will_v keep_v the_o law_n of_o god_n declare_v that_o it_o be_v not_o so_o common_a a_o thing_n to_o do_v as_o we_o take_v it_o and_o why_o so_o for_o say_v he_o he_o must_v keep_v it_o with_o his_o whole_a heart_n when_o he_o mean_v to_o show_v unto_o we_o what_o the_o good_a keep_n of_o the_o law_n of_o god_n be_v and_o such_o a_o observation_n as_o god_n require_v of_o we_o it_o be_v not_o only_o mean_v that_o our_o foot_n and_o hand_n shall_v be_v see_v to_o be_v well_o rule_v and_o compass_v that_o our_o sin_n and_o iniquity_n shall_v be_v so_o apparent_a as_o that_o they_o may_v be_v condemn_v in_o the_o sight_n of_o the_o world_n this_o say_v i_o be_v not_o all_o as_o to_o use_v such_o a_o observation_n but_o we_o must_v say_v david_n keep_v the_o law_n of_o god_n with_o our_o whole_a heart_n when_o as_o we_o shall_v be_v never_o so_o little_o affect_v or_o desirous_a thereto_o it_o shall_v be_v a_o great_a deal_n more_o worth_a than_o all_o the_o substance_n in_o the_o world_n but_o we_o must_v beware_v that_o we_o have_v not_o a_o double_a heart_n that_o our_o desire_n be_v so_o cold_a and_o feeble_a as_o to_o say_v very_o well_o i_o will_v glad_o that_o god_n will_v bestow_v his_o grace_n upon_o i_o that_o i_o may_v follow_v his_o commandment_n and_o thereupon_o to_o show_v ourselves_o weary_a and_o slougthfull_a but_o we_o must_v have_v a_o true_a sincerity_n to_o walk_v therein_o with_o all_o fullness_n and_o integrity_n but_o i_o beseech_v you_o what_o be_v he_o that_o be_v able_a to_o attain_v to_o that_o perfection_n it_o be_v so_o far_o of_o that_o there_o shall_v be_v any_o such_o uprightness_n in_o we_o as_o that_o we_o be_v not_o able_a to_o think_v once_o a_o good_a thought_n except_o god_n change_v our_o perverse_a nature_n which_o before_o shall_v be_v repugnant_a and_o contrary_a unto_o his_o righteousness_n wherefore_o in_o sum_n david_n after_o that_o he_o have_v pray_v unto_o god_n that_o he_o will_v instruct_v he_o to_o the_o end_n he_o may_v keep_v his_o commandment_n add_v for_o a_o more_o ample_a confirmation_n that_o i_o may_v keep_v thy_o commandment_n with_o my_o whole_a heart_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v o_o lord_n i_o know_v that_o we_o man_n as_o we_o be_v puff_v up_o with_o pride_n and_o arrogancy_n do_v think_v we_o too_o have_v accomplish_v and_o fulfil_v all_o the_o whole_a law_n when_o as_o we_o have_v set_v a_o good_a countenance_n of_o the_o matter_n and_o have_v make_v some_o apparaunce_n or_o show_v to_o the_o world_n if_o there_o be_v no_o more_o in_o it_o but_o this_o yet_o shall_v it_o be_v enough_o for_o i_o consider_v that_o all_o our_o member_n do_v so_o rage_v in_o wickedness_n as_o that_o it_o be_v very_o hard_a too_o hold_v they_o in_o but_o all_o this_o shall_v be_v nothing_o for_o it_o shall_v be_v all_o but_o mere_a hypocrisy_n and_o because_o that_o thou_o have_v respect_n to_o the_o heart_n all_o my_o carnal_a passion_n and_o affection_n must_v be_v pull_v down_o &_o myself_o in_o such_o sort_n renew_v as_o that_o i_o may_v be_v whole_o conform_v unto_o thy_o righreousnes_n alas_o my_o god_n and_o if_o i_o must_v be_v bring_v to_o that_o i_o see_v it_o to_o be_v a_o impossible_a matter_n and_o so_o thou_o must_v needs_o put_v thy_o help_a hand_n unto_o i_o that_o i_o may_v be_v teach_v by_o thy_o holy_a spirit_n it_o follow_v in_o the_o third_o verse_n make_v i_o to_o go_v in_o the_o way_n of_o thy_o commandment_n for_o therein_o be_v my_o desire_n here_o we_o see_v that_o which_o have_v be_v touch_v to_o wit_n that_o david_n pray_v not_o unto_o god_n that_o he_o will_v begin_v to_o set_v he_o in_o a_o good_a way_n for_o he_o be_v already_o enter_v into_o it_o he_o have_v already_o walk_v in_o it_o a_o good_a long_a season_n and_o in_o deed_n this_o desire_n be_v a_o very_a great_a furtherance_n unto_o we_o when_o as_o we_o may_v pray_v unto_o god_n to_o beseech_v he_o to_o govern_v we_o and_o we_o ought_v to_o prefer_v this_o felicity_n or_o blessedness_n before_o all_o the_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n and_o herein_o let_v we_o show_v ourselves_o to_o have_v great_o profit_v now_o david_n protest_v without_o hypocrisy_n that_o he_o have_v keep_v the_o commandment_n of_o god_n nevertheless_o he_o beseech_v the_o lord_n to_o grant_v unto_o he_o power_n to_o persevere_v therein_o and_o that_o he_o may_v come_v to_o the_o perfection_n thereof_o wherein_o we_o see_v that_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o that_o when_o god_n have_v begin_v and_o set_v we_o in_o a_o good_a way_n that_o we_o may_v ever_o after_o do_v what_o soever_o seem_v good_a in_o our_o own_o sight_n we_o see_v here_o to_o the_o contrary_a that_o when_o god_n shall_v have_v teach_v we_o and_o that_o we_o have_v be_v apt_a to_o learn_v from_o the_o beginning_n nevertheless_o that_o his_o grace_n shall_v be_v make_v void_a every_o minute_n without_o he_o do_v continue_v it_o and_o so_o in_o the_o first_o place_n when_o as_o god_n shall_v have_v instruct_v we_o to_o make_v we_o to_o come_v to_o a_o good_a understanding_n and_o knowledge_n he_o must_v also_o grant_v unto_o we_o a_o good_a affection_n and_o desire_v and_o have_v he_o give_v we_o that_o it_o be_v also_o meet_v that_o he_o continue_v the_o same_o in_o we_o and_o make_v we_o desirous_a to_o walk_v in_o his_o commandment_n final_o after_o that_o he_o have_v give_v we_o to_o will_n the_o must_v also_o give_v we_o to_o perform_v as_o s._n paul_n say_v that_o he_o do_v all_o in_o all_o but_o not_o to_o reward_v this_o good_a will_n or_o any_o other_o good_a preparation_n which_o be_v in_o we_o but_o to_o do_v it_o according_a to_o his_o pleasure_n to_o wit_n of_o his_o free_a mercy_n moreover_o let_v we_o on_o our_o behalf_n consider_v when_o as_o we_o will_v obtain_v any_o such_o grace_n at_o god_n hand_n to_o wit_n to_o lead_v we_o into_o the_o way_n of_o his_o path_n that_o our_o heart_n be_v there_o settle_v as_o that_o we_o be_v not_o so_o accurse_v as_o to_o forsake_v god_n and_o to_o set_v light_n by_o he_o to_o quench_v this_o light_n which_o he_o shall_v have_v put_v in_o us._n for_o otherwise_o if_o we_o be_v always_o give_v to_o the_o vanity_n of_o this_o world_n as_o common_o we_o be_v and_o that_o we_o make_v no_o account_n of_o the_o grace_n which_o god_n shall_v bestow_v upon_o
ourselves_o whole_o to_o it_o and_o altogether_o rest_v thereon_o behold_v say_v i_o after_o what_o sort_n our_o prayer_n be_v allow_v to_o wit_n when_o as_o we_o pray_v not_o to_o god_n for_o that_o which_o seem_v best_a in_o our_o own_o eye_n but_o when_o as_o we_o be_v fence_v with_o that_o which_o he_o have_v promise_v us._n and_o this_o be_v it_o wherein_o we_o differ_v from_o the_o painime_n and_o infidel_n for_o we_o see_v that_o the_o turk_n and_o idolater_n do_v great_o pray_v unto_o god_n but_o after_o what_o manner_n pray_v they_o forsooth_o even_o at_o all_o adventure_n so_o that_o they_o know_v not_o what_o they_o do_v but_o contrariwise_o we_o must_v pray_v unto_o he_o with_o full_a assurance_n that_o he_o will_v hear_v us._n but_o from_o whence_o shall_v this_o certainty_n proceed_v if_o we_o have_v not_o the_o truth_n to_o go_v before_o we_o and_o say_v behold_v the_o lord_n who_o call_v we_o unto_o he_o and_o then_o when_o we_o come_v unto_o he_o this_o be_v no_o foolish_a presumption_n but_o we_o come_v in_o such_o sort_n unto_o he_o as_o he_o have_v command_v us._n let_v we_o then_o see_v what_o we_o have_v yet_o to_o note_v in_o this_o place_n when_o david_n set_v down_o here_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n by_o which_o he_o be_v bind_v unto_o he_o o_o lord_n say_v he_o let_v it_o be_v do_v unto_o i_o according_a to_o thy_o word_n now_o here_o be_v a_o very_a profitable_a point_n to_o be_v consider_v off_o to_o wit_n after_o that_o we_o be_v once_o assure_v that_o god_n have_v promise_v too_o do_v that_o for_o we_o which_o we_o shall_v ask_v of_o he_o we_o must_v no_o more_o doubt_n that_o it_o shall_v be_v so_o but_o that_o the_o thing_n be_v full_o conclude_v upon_o so_o that_o we_o be_v ever_o sure_a and_o certain_a thereof_o for_o when_o god_n speak_v unto_o we_o we_o be_v very_o sure_a that_o he_o will_v not_o deceive_v we_o he_o will_v not_o give_v we_o fair_a word_n and_o then_o deceive_v we_o as_o man_n many_o time_n do_v deal_v very_o liberal_o with_o their_o tongue_n but_o yet_o notwithstanding_o very_o close_o fist_v but_o god_n deal_v not_o in_o such_o sort_n let_v we_o then_o come_v before_o he_o without_o distrust_n have_v we_o his_o word_n let_v we_o then_o hold_v the_o thing_n as_o already_o perform_v and_o so_o when_o david_n say_v according_a to_o thy_o word_n he_o signify_v unto_o we_o that_o he_o be_v not_o only_o assure_v that_o god_n be_v faithful_a and_o liberal_a that_o he_o mean_v not_o to_o abuse_v we_o when_o as_o we_o trust_v to_o he_o but_o show_v we_o that_o this_o certainty_n which_o we_o have_v of_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n shall_v not_o make_v we_o weary_a to_o say_v that_o we_o be_v as_o it_o be_v even_o overwhelm_v but_o we_o must_v rather_o be_v careful_a and_o diligent_a to_o pray_v unto_o he_o there_o be_v some_o man_n which_o will_v in_o deed_n say_v that_o they_o believe_v the_o promise_n of_o god_n but_o since_o say_v they_o he_o know_v what_o we_o have_v need_n of_o what_o need_v we_o to_o be_v importune_a upon_o he_o now_o these_o man_n indeed_o very_o well_o declare_v that_o they_o never_o understand_v what_o faith_n and_o hope_n be_v for_o if_o we_o receive_v the_o promise_n of_o god_n without_o hypocrisy_n we_o ought_v to_o be_v thus_o earnest_a and_o zealous_a to_o pray_v and_o have_v recourse_n unto_o he_o say_v o_o lord_n god_n when_o as_o thou_o have_v assure_v i_o of_o thy_o bounty_n and_o mercy_n it_o be_v to_o this_o end_n that_o i_o shall_v call_v upon_o thou_o in_o my_o need_n and_o that_o i_o see_v the_o necessity_n which_o urge_v and_o press_v i_o i_o must_v needs_o come_v unto_o thou_o as_o thou_o haste_v call_v i_o by_o thy_o word_n behold_v then_o that_o all_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n shall_v serve_v we_o in_o stead_n of_o so_o many_o spur_n to_o prick_v we_o forward_o in_o make_v our_o prayer_n unto_o he_o let_v we_o now_o come_v to_o the_o word_n of_o david_n let_v thy_o love_a mercy_n or_o thy_o grace_n come_v unto_o i_o o_o lord_n and_o thy_o salvation_n after_o that_o he_o have_v lay_v his_o foundation_n whereupon_o too_o build_v he_o desire_v oneself_o same_o thing_n in_o two_o word_n which_o to_o the_o outward_a appearance_n be_v diverse_a and_o sundry_a to_o wit_n the_o grace_n of_o god_n and_o his_o salvation_n and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o david_n mean_v nothing_o else_o but_o that_o god_n will_v show_v himself_o to_o be_v his_o saviour_n neither_o be_v there_o any_o thing_n here_o speak_v superfluous_o for_o it_o be_v asmuch_o as_n if_o he_o have_v say_v o_o my_o god_n i_o beseech_v thou_o that_o according_a to_o thy_o promise_n thou_o will_v make_v i_o feel_v thou_o to_o be_v my_o saviour_n and_o father_n but_o yet_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n he_o express_v unto_o we_o whence_o this_o salvation_n which_o we_o must_v wait_v for_o and_o which_o god_n have_v promise_v we_o come_v and_o that_o be_v of_o his_o mere_a good_a will_n for_o man_n can_v otherwise_o choose_v but_o that_o they_o will_v ever_o wrongful_o take_v upon_o they_o some_o thing_n or_o other_o which_o appertain_v nothing_o unto_o they_o and_o always_o to_o be_v foolish_o and_o arrogant_o bind_v he_o here_o add_v and_o express_v the_o cause_n which_o move_v god_n to_o bind_v himself_o so_o unto_o we_o to_o wit_n his_o mere_a mercy_n by_o this_o we_o be_v admonish_v that_o when_o we_o be_v to_o call_v upon_o god_n we_o shall_v always_o have_v regard_n unto_o these_o two_o thing_n to_o wit_n the_o grace_n of_o god_n and_o his_o free_a mercy_n and_o after_o that_o his_o promise_n god_n be_v good_a and_o liberal_a and_o see_v why_o it_o be_v that_o he_o with_o pity_n look_v upon_o we_o and_o behold_v we_o with_o his_o eye_n of_o compassion_n vouchsafe_v to_o receive_v we_o yea_o and_o call_v and_o allure_v we_o unto_o he_o and_o also_o imbolden_v we_o to_o crave_v of_o he_o to_o the_o end_n he_o will_v help_v and_o succour_v we_o in_o all_o our_o need_n and_o necessity_n now_o this_o goodness_n shall_v lie_v hide_v in_o god_n be_v it_o not_o that_o he_o make_v we_o to_o feel_v it_o by_o his_o promise_n for_o god_n show_v himself_o unto_o we_o to_o be_v such_o a_o one_o as_o in_o deed_n he_o be_v he_o lay_v his_o heart_n wide_o open_a when_o he_o render_v we_o a_o testimony_n of_o the_o love_n he_o bear_v us._n loe_o here_o why_o i_o have_v say_v that_o in_o all_o our_o prayer_n we_o ought_v to_o have_v these_o two_o consideration_n the_o one_o be_v that_o god_n be_v so_o good_a and_o love_a that_o although_o we_o be_v poor_a and_o miserable_a creature_n and_o nothing_o else_o but_o dung_n and_o stench_n yet_o for_o all_o that_o he_o cease_v not_o too_o love_v we_o and_o to_o have_v great_a care_n of_o our_o salvation_n and_o since_o we_o be_v come_v too_o the_o promise_n which_o be_v a_o sure_a testimony_n that_o god_n be_v such_o one_o we_o shall_v no_o more_o doubt_v what_o affection_n he_o bear_v we_o whether_o he_o be_v our_o friend_n or_o enemy_n see_v it_o be_v so_o that_o he_o be_v very_o well_o willing_a to_o be_v bind_v unto_o we_o in_o declare_v unto_o we_o that_o he_o be_v our_o father_n and_o take_v we_o to_o be_v his_o child_n now_o david_n make_v such_o a_o request_n as_o we_o have_v already_o touch_v to_o the_o end_n he_o may_v answer_v those_o which_o wrought_v he_o shame_n although_o he_o say_v word_n for_o word_n to_o the_o end_n i_o may_v answer_v these_o which_o work_v i_o shame_n here_o david_n declare_v that_o when_o god_n shall_v have_v aid_v he_o that_o then_o he_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o withstand_v all_o his_o enemy_n put_v by_o all_o the_o injury_n &_o scorn_n of_o the_o unbeliever_n and_o faithless_a which_o they_o do_v lay_v before_o he_o to_o the_o end_n too_o shake_v and_o crush_v the_o faithful_a and_o to_o destroy_v they_o yea_o and_o utter_o to_o make_v their_o faith_n nothing_o worth_a if_o it_o be_v possible_a for_o they_o to_o do_v it_o by_o this_o we_o be_v let_v to_o understande_v that_o if_o we_o make_v our_o prayer_n to_o god_n whensoever_o it_o shall_v happen_v all_o the_o world_n too_o assail_v we_o and_o that_o it_o may_v seem_v we_o shall_v be_v plunge_v in_o hell_n a_o hundred_o thousand_o time_n yet_o
hand_n of_o god_n but_o be_v harden_v and_o lift_v themselves_o up_o against_o he_o it_o can_v be_v choose_v but_o that_o this_o must_v needs_o be_v a_o horrible_a pride_n even_o so_o then_o this_o infidelity_n be_v it_o that_o give_v too_o man_n as_o it_o be_v horn_n which_o he_o so_o natural_o esteem_v although_o in_o deed_n it_o be_v less_o than_o nothing_o and_o think_v the_o same_o to_o be_v wonderful_a and_o contrariwise_o let_v we_o mark_v that_o it_o be_v only_a faith_n that_o must_v induce_v we_o to_o humility_n and_o which_o frame_v and_o fashion_v we_o therein_o consider_v this_o swell_n of_o our_o heart_n our_o grow_v in_o presumption_n like_v unto_o swell_a toad_n there_o be_v nothing_o i_o say_v that_o can_v amend_v this_o vice_n but_o faith_n alone_o the_o reason_n be_v because_o that_o faith_n bring_v we_o untoo_o god_n now_o when_o as_o we_o know_v what_o the_o righteousness_n of_o god_n be_v let_v we_o then_o come_v unto_o ourselves_o and_o we_o shall_v find_v in_o we_o nothing_o else_o but_o iniquity_n when_o we_o shall_v consider_v of_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n we_o shall_v see_v that_o all_o whatsoever_o we_o think_v too_o be_v good_a reason_n to_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o vanity_n and_o folly_n so_o then_o when_o man_n do_v wonder_n and_o look_v at_o the_o brightness_n of_o god_n they_o then_o learn_v that_o they_o be_v no_o better_o but_o dung_n and_o filthy_a stench_n be_v even_o angry_a and_o displease_v with_o themselves_o and_o great_o ashamed_a of_o their_o own_o filthynesse_n see_v then_o that_o humility_n proceed_v from_o faith_n and_o therefore_o david_n say_v that_o the_o proud_a to_o wit_n the_o wicked_a and_o infidel_n imagine_v a_o lie_n against_o he_o let_v we_o then_o know_v that_o pride_n be_v engender_v of_o man_n and_o that_o they_o bring_v it_o with_o they_o into_o the_o world_n so_o soon_o as_o they_o be_v bear_v that_o it_o grow_v and_o increase_v unto_o full_a age_n until_o such_o time_n as_o god_n correct_v it_o by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n and_o by_o faith_n and_o so_o when_o as_o we_o shall_v see_v the_o contemner_n of_o god_n and_o the_o wicked_a who_o know_v not_o what_o it_o be_v too_o be_v order_v by_o god_n when_o we_o shall_v see_v they_o i_o say_v thus_o outrage_n let_v we_o not_o think_v it_o strange_a see_v it_o be_v the_o course_n of_o nature_n moreover_o let_v we_o well_o note_n that_o david_n speak_v of_o the_o need_n which_o he_o have_v of_o god_n show_v we_o by_o his_o example_n that_o the_o more_o we_o be_v vex_v with_o temptation_n that_o so_o much_o the_o more_o bold_a we_o ought_v too_o be_v too_o beseech_v he_o of_o his_o aid_n that_o he_o will_v reach_v out_o his_o hand_n too_o uphold_v we_o and_o not_o to_o suffer_v we_o to_o be_v overcome_v and_o this_o be_v special_o too_o be_v note_v for_o when_o we_o be_v greeve_v with_o any_o temptation_n we_o know_v not_o that_o the_o same_o be_v to_o make_v we_o run_v too_o god_n who_o be_v the_o only_a remedy_n by_o which_o we_o must_v be_v deliver_v and_o so_o the_o devil_n may_v very_o easy_o enter_v into_o we_o too_o overthrow_v our_o faith_n since_o it_o be_v as_o it_o be_v put_v out_o there_o unto_o he_o as_o a_o pray_v and_o beside_o we_o vouchsafe_v not_o once_o too_o receive_v the_o remedy_n which_o be_v offer_v we_o for_o our_o help_n so_o then_o let_v we_o keep_v the_o order_n which_o david_n here_o set_v down_o to_o wit_n that_o if_o we_o be_v assail_v with_o great_a and_o very_o strong_a temptation_n that_o then_o it_o be_v high_a time_n for_o we_o to_o have_v recourse_n unto_o god_n beseech_v he_o to_o save_v we_o and_o too_o remedy_v our_o fault_n which_o else_o will_v lead_v we_o too_o everlasting_a destruction_n and_o thus_o much_o for_o this_o now_o we_o have_v soon_o after_o too_o note_v that_o we_o shall_v make_v good_a proof_n of_o our_o well_o willing_a to_o serve_v god_n if_o we_o resist_v the_o temptation_n if_o the_o wicked_a go_v about_o too_o draw_v we_o unto_o wickedness_n and_o yet_o we_o stand_v fast_o and_o sure_a then_o be_v our_o faith_n and_o constancy_n well_o approve_v and_o this_o be_v speak_v to_o the_o end_n that_o no_o man_n shall_v flatter_v himself_o for_o we_o think_v this_o to_o be_v a_o sufficient_a excuse_n and_o that_o god_n shall_v also_o be_v well_o content_v therewith_o too_o say_v that_o we_o be_v draw_v to_o do_v wicked_o by_o the_o mean_a of_o some_o other_o see_v i_o pray_v you_o will_v every_o one_o say_v i_o be_v once_o in_o a_o very_a good_a forwardenesse_n and_o desire_v to_o live_v according_a too_o the_o will_n of_o god_n but_o when_o i_o see_v the_o world_n so_o perverse_a and_o wicked_a and_o that_o all_o man_n be_v give_v to_o so_o many_o vice_n it_o be_v impossible_a for_o i_o too_o escape_v but_o that_o i_o must_v do_v as_o other_o man_n do_v when_o we_o shall_v allege_v for_o ourselves_o such_o excuse_n we_o think_v that_o god_n shall_v hold_v himself_o well_o content_v therewith_o but_o contrariwise_o we_o see_v here_o that_o the_o faithful_a never_o cease_v for_o all_o that_o to_o serve_v god_n when_o all_o the_o whole_a world_n go_v about_o to_o hinder_v and_o let_v they_o that_o although_o the_o wicked_a invent_v never_o so_o many_o lie_v &_o lay_v never_o so_o many_o stumble_a block_n in_o their_o way_n to_o cause_v they_o too_o turn_v and_o decline_v from_o the_o right_a way_n yet_o do_v they_o still_o stand_v firm_a and_o sure_a and_o see_v also_o how_o we_o must_v be_v fain_o too_o do_v that_o if_o we_o will_v faithful_o serve_v our_o good_a god_n we_o must_v not_o cease_v too_o pursue_v our_o vocation_n yea_o although_o the_o wicked_a bend_v all_o the_o force_n they_o be_v possible_o able_a to_o make_v against_o we_o too_o turn_v we_o clean_o from_o the_o way_n of_o salvation_n now_o if_o this_o admonition_n have_v be_v always_o necessary_a it_o be_v more_o needful_a at_o this_o day_n then_o ever_o it_o be_v for_o we_o see_v that_o the_o world_n be_v grow_v too_o a_o monstrous_a heap_n of_o all_o iniquity_n that_o we_o be_v not_o able_a too_o step_v forth_o one_o step_n but_o that_o we_o shall_v meet_v with_o great_a store_n of_o evil_a and_o dangerous_a encounter_n which_o may_v weary_a and_o withdraw_v we_o and_o carry_v we_o to_o do_v wicked_o in_o all_o kind_n of_o thing_n therefore_o we_o ought_v so_o much_o the_o rather_o to_o practice_v this_o doctrine_n that_o the_o wicked_a have_v imagine_v lie_v against_o we_o but_o yet_o that_o we_o have_v keep_v the_o law_n of_o god_n for_o the_o lie_n which_o the_o proud_a and_o the_o enemy_n of_o god_n do_v imagine_v against_o we_o be_v not_o of_o one_o kind_n for_o sometime_o they_o will_v seduce_v we_o under_o the_o colour_n of_o friendship_n sometime_o they_o will_v charge_v we_o with_o a_o great_a many_o of_o thing_n to_o make_v we_o faint_v heart_v sometime_o they_o will_v make_v such_o a_o confusion_n of_o all_o that_o we_o shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o discern_v between_o white_a and_o black_a we_o must_v then_o be_v so_o much_o the_o more_o well_o advise_v and_o stand_v the_o sure_a upon_o our_o guard_n and_o although_o the_o devil_n transform_v himself_o so_o into_o diverse_a manner_n let_v not_o we_o leave_v to_o keep_v the_o law_n of_o god_n yea_o and_o that_o with_o out_o whole_a heart_n which_o be_v a_o thing_n that_o we_o ought_v diligent_o to_o mark_v for_o if_o we_o have_v but_o only_o some_o little_a and_o feeble_a affection_n too_o follow_v god_n we_o shall_v soon_o be_v very_o weary_a thereof_o our_o heart_n therefore_o must_v be_v whole_o addict_v thereto_o for_o else_o we_o shall_v never_o be_v able_a to_o make_v our_o part_n good_a against_o satan_n now_o it_o be_v say_v a_o little_a after_o their_o heart_n be_v as_o fat_a as_o grease_n but_o my_o delight_n be_v in_o thy_o law_n here_o david_n make_v a_o comparison_n between_o the_o contemner_n of_o god_n and_o those_o which_o desire_v to_o serve_v he_o and_o why_o do_v he_o so_o he_o show_v that_o the_o cause_n which_o so_o induce_v the_o infidel_n too_o contemn_v god_n be_v the_o dissolute_a and_o brutish_a life_n which_o they_o lead_v because_o they_o be_v as_o fat_a as_o a_o hog_n in_o his_o sty_n that_o have_v be_v feed_v with_o accorne_n and_o barley_n and_o that_o lie_v wallow_v on_o a_o heap_n in_o his_o own_o grease_n he_o be_v so_o very_o fat_a and_o heavy_a that_o he_o be_v not_o able_a to_o get_v up_o and_o although_o he_o be_v already_o a_o marvelous_a fat_a and_o â—â—avy_a beast_n which_o desire_v nothing_o else_o but_o draff_n and_o swill_n yet_o will_v he_o be_v far_o fat_a and_o heavy_a when_o as_o he_o shall_v be_v sty_v up_o
and_o so_o fat_v even_o so_o fare_v it_o with_o these_o curse_a contemner_n of_o god_n which_o have_v no_o regard_n unto_o everlasting_a life_n but_o be_v whole_o give_v up_o too_o their_o god_n the_o belly_n they_o wallow_v themselves_o in_o their_o own_o grease_n as_o a_o swine_n which_o have_v his_o groin_n always_o in_o the_o trough_n now_o contrariwise_o david_n say_v that_o all_o his_o delight_n have_v be_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n whereby_o he_o do_v we_o to_o wit_n that_o although_o god_n have_v make_v he_o fat_a yet_o that_o he_o wallow_v not_o for_o all_o that_o in_o his_o own_o grease_n but_o delight_v in_o that_o spiritual_a gift_n which_o be_v give_v he_o because_o that_o god_n have_v teach_v it_o he_o in_o his_o school_n loe_o than_o what_o we_o have_v to_o gather_v out_o of_o this_o place_n that_o although_o we_o see_v the_o great_a part_n of_o the_o world_n contemn_v god_n yet_o must_v we_o not_o be_v abash_v thereat_o and_o why_o so_o let_v we_o well_o consider_v wherein_o man_n do_v put_v their_o chief_a felicity_n and_o we_o shall_v find_v they_o too_o be_v like_a unto_o ox_n and_o swine_n desire_v naught_o but_o to_o live_v here_o in_o this_o world_n without_o look_v any_o far_o now_o we_o must_v have_v a_o far_a regard_n if_o we_o will_v serve_v god_n as_o too_o he_o appertain_v to_o wit_n that_o we_o take_v such_o pleasure_n and_o delight_n in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n that_o we_o be_v no_o more_o give_v too_o the_o world_n as_o we_o be_v overmuch_o and_o although_o god_n give_v we_o abundance_n yet_o that_o we_o have_v our_o ease_n and_o commodity_n in_o this_o world_n let_v we_o not_o settle_v our_o mind_n on_o they_o but_o know_v that_o all_o these_o be_v but_o petty_a small_a mean_n and_o necessarye_n but_o let_v we_o labour_n to_o go_v too_o the_o principal_a and_o acknowledge_v he_o too_o be_v our_o father_n and_o saviour_n and_o when_o we_o know_v he_o too_o be_v so_o then_o let_v we_o climb_v up_o unto_o he_o and_o too_o that_o everlasting_a life_n whereunto_o he_o invyte_v and_o call_v us._n loe_o i_o say_v what_o we_o have_v here_o too_o retain_v moreover_o if_o god_n tame_v we_o by_o affliction_n let_v we_o come_v to_o that_o which_o david_n add_v to_o wit_n that_o it_o be_v good_a for_o he_o that_o he_o have_v be_v in_o trouble_n although_o then_o that_o god_n pull_v back_o his_o hand_n and_o that_o in_o stead_n of_o gentle_o entreat_v we_o he_o handle_v we_o rough_o in_o stead_n of_o send_v we_o plenty_n of_o wealth_n he_o cause_v we_o to_o suffer_v hunger_n and_o thirst_n in_o stead_n of_o give_v we_o health_n he_o greeve_v we_o with_o disease_n that_o be_v vex_v with_o many_o anguish_v and_o torment_n so_o that_o we_o know_v not_o what_o too_o do_v yet_o must_v we_o always_o look_v to_o the_o end_n to_o be_v comfort_v with_o david_n in_o say_v it_o be_v a_o good_a turn_n for_o i_o o_o lord_n that_o i_o have_v be_v in_o trouble_n that_o i_o may_v learn_v thy_o statute_n now_o since_o it_o have_v so_o fall_v out_o that_o david_n be_v afflict_v to_o the_o end_n he_o may_v be_v the_o better_o dispose_v too_o learn_v the_o ordinance_n of_o god_n what_o shall_v become_v of_o we_o which_o be_v full_a of_o worldly_a vanity_n let_v we_o then_o know_v that_o we_o have_v need_v to_o be_v correct_v by_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n and_o to_o be_v tie_v short_a if_o we_o will_v profit_v in_o the_o doctrine_n of_o salvation_n loe_o then_o how_o we_o must_v practise_v the_o admonition_n of_o david_n and_o when_o we_o shall_v have_v so_o do_v we_o may_v conclude_v and_o say_v with_o that_o which_o be_v set_v down_o in_o the_o last_o verse_n to_o wit_n that_o the_o law_n of_o god_n be_v more_o dear_a unto_o we_o then_o gold_n or_o silver_n and_o this_o be_v it_o that_o we_o must_v do_v in_o this_o point_n we_o must_v esteem_v and_o make_v much_o of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n as_o it_o be_v worthy_a and_o not_o to_o stay_v ourselves_o on_o the_o thing_n of_o this_o world_n but_o to_o look_v always_o far_o off_o to_o wit_n unto_o heaven_n when_o then_o we_o shall_v have_v profit_v ourselves_o thus_o by_o the_o affliction_n which_o god_n shall_v send_v we_o he_o will_v bestow_v his_o grace_n upon_o we_o by_o little_a &_o little_a that_o we_o shall_v so_o esteem_v of_o his_o word_n as_o that_o we_o shall_v whole_o stick_v to_o it_o and_o let_v we_o beseech_v he_o that_o it_o will_v please_v he_o too_o despoil_v we_o of_o all_o our_o wicked_a fleshly_a desire_n and_o affection_n &_o to_o cause_v we_o to_o crave_v none_o other_o thing_n but_o that_o he_o will_v reign_v and_o live_v in_o us._n according_a too_o this_o holy_a doctrine_n let_v we_o prostrate_v ourselves_o before_o the_o majesty_n of_o our_o good_a god_n in_o acknowledge_v our_o offence_n beseech_v he_o that_o it_o will_v please_v bim_n too_o take_v from_o we_o the_o wicked_a affection_n which_o may_v turn_v we_o away_o from_o he_o and_o from_o his_o service_n and_o that_o we_o may_v forget_v all_o whatsoever_o may_v turn_v we_o from_o the_o right_a way_n of_o salvation_n that_o we_o desire_v nothing_o but_o that_o we_o may_v attain_v too_o that_o everlasting_a life_n which_o we_o look_v for_o in_o heaven_n that_o it_o will_v please_v he_o not_o too_o suffer_v we_o to_o live_v here_o like_o brute_n beast_n not_o know_v to_o what_o end_n we_o be_v create_v in_o this_o world_n but_o that_o we_o may_v acknowledge_v he_o to_o be_v our_o creator_n our_o father_n and_o saviour_n that_o we_o may_v subject_v ourselves_o unto_o he_o as_o his_o creature_n and_o obey_v he_o as_o true_a and_o faithful_a child_n until_o such_o time_n as_o he_o shall_v take_v we_o out_o of_o this_o world_n to_o make_v we_o partaker_n of_o that_o everlasting_a bliss_n &_o immortal_a inheritance_n which_o he_o have_v prepare_v in_o heaven_n and_o which_o be_v purchase_v for_o we_o by_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n that_o he_o will_v not_o only_o grant_v we_o this_o grace_n but_o also_o unto_o all_o people_n and_o nation_n in_o the_o world_n etc._n etc._n the_o ten_o sermon_n of_o the_o hundred_o and_o nineteenth_o psalm_n jod_n thy_o hand_n have_v make_v and_o fashion_v i_o o_o give_v i_o so_o for_o what_o be_v he_o that_o will_v acknowledge_v it_o we_o be_v so_o beguile_v with_o these_o false_a deceit_n of_o the_o world_n that_o we_o think_v we_o may_v triumph_n by_o they_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v exceed_o bless_a when_o as_o we_o shall_v have_v all_o thing_n after_o our_o own_o heart_n desire_v but_o in_o thus_o do_v we_o can_v contemn_v god_n and_o his_o grace_n we_o must_v not_o then_o be_v abash_v if_o we_o be_v set_v beside_o that_o which_o appertain_v to_o our_o salvation_n and_o that_o god_n suffer_v we_o to_o languish_v in_o wretchedness_n and_o misery_n and_o so_o let_v we_o learn_v after_o the_o example_n of_o david_n to_o be_v as_o it_o be_v reject_v of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o to_o be_v as_o it_o be_v estrange_v from_o it_o to_o crave_v in_o good_a earnest_n to_o cause_v his_o mercy_n to_o return_v unto_o we_o to_o wit_n that_o he_o will_v grant_v we_o this_o grace_n to_o let_v we_o in_o such_o sort_n understand_v what_o need_n we_o have_v of_o his_o favour_n and_o aid_n that_o notwithstanding_o that_o we_o have_v decline_v from_o his_o commandment_n yet_o that_o he_o will_v grant_v we_o for_o all_o that_o to_o feel_v his_o mercy_n although_o he_o have_v hold_v the_o same_o from_o we_o for_o a_o season_n now_o it_o follow_v let_v the_o proud_a be_v confound_v for_o they_o have_v deal_v wicked_o and_o false_o with_o i_o but_o i_o meditate_v in_o thy_o commandment_n here_o david_n set_v down_o another_o reason_n to_o confirm_v himself_o continual_o more_o and_o more_o that_o he_o shall_v obtain_v that_o which_o he_o pray_v unto_o god_n for_o to_o wit_n because_o the_o wicked_a do_v persecute_v he_o who_o he_o call_v the_o proud_a and_o this_o be_v the_o sentence_n which_o we_o have_v already_o heretofore_o treat_v off_o neither_o will_v the_o time_n suffer_v we_o to_o stay_v any_o long_o upon_o it_o it_o shall_v therefore_o suffice_v we_o for_o this_o time_n that_o faith_n only_o be_v the_o thing_n which_o bring_v we_o within_o the_o compass_n of_o humility_n when_o as_o we_o know_v that_o there_o be_v nothing_o in_o we_o but_o wickedness_n and_o that_o we_o be_v thereto_o tie_v by_o the_o just_a judgement_n of_o god_n when_o i_o say_v that_o the_o faithful_a know_v this_o it_o pull_v down_o their_o high_a mind_n they_o be_v no_o more_o arrogant_a nor_o presumptuous_a to_o lift_v themselves_o up_o against_o god_n and_o their_o neighbour_n contrariwyse_o the_o wicked_a and_o enemy_n of_o god_n be_v call_v proud_a for_o the_o pride_n which_o they_o use_v against_o god_n engender_v also_o cruelty_n against_o their_o neighbour_n as_o many_o as_o will_v humble_v themselves_o before_o god_n will_v also_o be_v very_o gentle_a too_o their_o neighbour_n but_o they_o which_o have_v a_o fierce_a and_o high_a mind_n to_o stand_v against_o god_n must_v needs_o likewise_o cast_v their_o poison_n against_o their_o neighbour_n and_o for_o this_o cause_n david_n say_v let_v the_o proud_a o_o lord_n be_v confound_v for_o they_o go_v wicked_o about_o to_o confound_v i_o whereby_o we_o be_v admonish_v that_o although_o the_o wicked_a vex_v and_o grieve_v we_o never_o so_o injurious_o and_o without_o cause_n yet_o we_o be_v thereby_o teach_v to_o have_v the_o rather_o a_o great_a deal_n more_o trust_n that_o god_n will_v have_v mercy_n upon_o us._n and_o why_o so_o because_o it_o be_v he_o which_o grant_v our_o request_n and_o when_o as_o we_o shall_v make_v it_o unto_o he_o it_o shall_v not_o come_v of_o ourselves_o but_o he_o shall_v be_v author_n thereof_o so_o then_o when_o as_o we_o shall_v be_v grieve_v and_o injury_v by_o malicious_a and_o cruel_a man_n let_v we_o go_v bold_o unto_o god_n and_o beseech_v he_o to_o have_v pity_n and_o compassion_n upon_o us._n now_o he_o add_v that_o he_o never_o cease_v to_o meditate_v upon_o the_o testimony_n of_o god_n although_o he_o be_v so_o afflict_v and_o this_o be_v a_o excellent_a admonition_n for_o we_o that_o when_o we_o be_v torment_v both_o from_o heaven_n and_o on_o the_o earth_n that_o god_n on_o the_o one_o side_n to_o the_o outward_a show_n estraunge_v himself_o from_o we_o and_o we_o on_o the_o other_o side_n be_v so_o forsake_v that_o we_o be_v tread_v under_o man_n foot_n beside_o a_o thousand_o other_o villain_n do_v unto_o we_o when_o as_o i_o say_v we_o shall_v be_v so_o vex_v and_o grieve_a we_o must_v learn_v after_o the_o example_n of_o david_n to_o meditate_v of_o the_o testimony_n of_o god_n and_o there_o to_o seek_v our_o whole_a comfort_n for_o that_o be_v the_o very_a mean_a by_o which_o god_n mean_v to_o pluck_v we_o out_o of_o all_o our_o anguish_n and_o grief_n which_o may_v any_o way_n trouble_v us._n that_o now_o which_o follow_v have_v be_v already_o handle_v to_o wit_n that_o man_n which_o fear_v god_n do_v turn_v unto_o he_o to_o say_v that_o they_o will_v keep_v he_o company_n and_o in_o the_o end_n he_o set_v down_o this_o conclusion_n let_v my_o heart_n be_v upright_o in_o thy_o statute_n that_o i_o be_v not_o ashamed_a now_o like_v as_o in_o the_o first_o verse_n he_o desire_v god_n to_o give_v he_o understanding_n that_o he_o may_v learn_v his_o law_n here_o he_o desire_v that_o he_o will_v grant_v he_o affection_n whereby_o we_o may_v see_v that_o this_o proceed_v from_o we_o &_o from_o our_o nature_n to_o wit_n to_o be_v very_o poor_a blind_a soul_n until_o such_o time_n as_o god_n open_v our_o eye_n and_o thus_o much_o for_o the_o first_o point_n but_o yet_o understand_v only_o shall_v not_o serve_v god_n must_v make_v our_o heart_n pliant_a unto_o his_o obedience_n and_o place_v we_o so_o with_o himself_o as_o that_o we_o have_v none_o other_o desire_v but_o to_o serve_v he_o let_v we_o they_o learn_v to_o pray_v unto_o he_o as_o david_n here_o have_v do_v for_o after_o he_o have_v desire_v he_o to_o give_v he_o understand_v of_o his_o law_n he_o desire_v he_o also_o to_o give_v he_o a_o pure_a and_o a_o sound_a heart_n yea_o and_o that_o we_o shall_v also_o do_v the_o same_o in_o verity_n &_o truth_n not_o doubt_v but_o that_o when_o god_n have_v bestow_v upon_o we_o some_o grace_n that_o he_o will_v also_o increase_v they_o more_o &_o more_o and_o have_v compassion_n upon_o we_o so_o that_o we_o be_v obedient_a unto_o he_o in_o our_o behalf_n and_o yield_v he_o the_o homage_n and_o authority_n which_o unto_o he_o belong_v and_o according_a unto_o this_o doctrine_n let_v we_o in_o all_o humility_n prostrate_v ourselves_o before_o the_o majesty_n of_o our_o good_a god_n in_o acknowledge_v our_o offence_n beseech_v he_o so_o to_o touch_v we_o as_o that_o we_o may_v learn_v after_o the_o example_n of_o his_o prophet_n how_o to_o make_v and_o present_v our_o request_n unto_o he_o &_o to_o bereave_v we_o of_o all_o our_o earthly_a affection_n which_o we_o feel_v to_o be_v most_o violent_a against_o we_o to_o the_o end_n that_o our_o mind_n be_v not_o withdraw_v through_o they_o from_o his_o righteousness_n but_o that_o we_o submit_v ourselves_o whole_o unto_o his_o holy_a will_n desire_v nothing_o else_o but_o to_o have_v he_o to_o govern_v we_o to_o the_o end_n that_o be_v fortify_v by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n we_o may_v persevere_v unto_o the_o end_n to_o resist_v those_o temptation_n which_o shall_v grieve_v we_o to_o obtain_v the_o victory_n abovesaid_a and_o come_v to_o the_o triumph_n which_o be_v prepare_v for_o we_o in_o heaven_n above_o that_o he_o will_v not_o only_o grant_v we_o this_o grace_n but_o also_o unto_o all_o people_n and_o nation_n of_o the_o earth_n etc._n etc._n the_o eleven_o sermon_n of_o the_o hundred_o and_o nineteenth_o psalm_n caph_n my_o soul_n faint_v for_o thy_o salvation_n yet_o i_o wait_v for_o thy_o word_n my_o eye_n fail_v for_o thy_o promise_n say_v when_o will_v thou_o comfort_v i_o for_o i_o be_o like_o a_o bottle_n in_o the_o smoke_n yet_o do_v i_o not_o forget_v thy_o statute_n how_o many_o be_v the_o day_n of_o thy_o servant_n when_o will_v thou_o be_v avenge_v of_o they_o that_o persecute_v i_o the_o proud_a have_v dig_v pit_n for_o i_o which_o be_v not_o after_o thy_o law_n all_o thy_o commandment_n be_v true_a they_o persecute_v i_o false_o be_v thou_o my_o help_n they_o have_v almost_o make_v a_o end_n upon_o i_o on_o the_o earth_n but_o i_o forsake_v not_o thy_o commandment_n quicken_v i_o according_a to_o thy_o love_a kindness_n so_o shall_v i_o keep_v the_o testimony_n of_o thy_o mouth_n if_o we_o can_v right_o call_v to_o our_o remembrance_n
blast_n of_o wound_n to_o be_v inconstant_a and_o unsteadfast_a but_o while_o they_o be_v sail_v through_o the_o wave_n of_o the_o sea_n they_o must_v hold_v themselves_o firm_a and_o sure_a in_o this_o righteousness_n and_o sincerity_n which_o be_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n see_v then_o how_o i_o must_v know_v the_o everlasting_a stableness_n of_o the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n and_o in_o deed_n we_o shall_v have_v thereof_o a_o full_a feel_n and_o declaration_n in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n when_o as_o we_o shall_v receive_v it_o as_o we_o ought_v but_o for_o so_o much_o as_o we_o fail_v herein_o and_o that_o we_o have_v not_o as_o of_o ourselves_o the_o spirit_n to_o comprehend_v this_o righteousness_n whereof_o in_o this_o place_n mention_n be_v make_v ne_o yet_o to_o attain_v thereto_o yea_o and_o if_o that_o we_o shall_v attain_v thereto_o so_o that_o there_o be_v nothing_o to_o lead_v we_o to_o iniquity_n yet_o let_v we_o pray_v with_o david_n that_o it_o will_v please_v god_n to_o give_v we_o understanding_n now_o it_o be_v most_o true_a that_o david_n have_v already_o receive_v some_o portion_n and_o measure_n of_o understanding_n for_o else_o he_o can_v never_o have_v say_v i_o have_v be_v grieve_v and_o trouble_v and_o yet_o my_o delight_n be_v in_o thy_o law_n he_o can_v not_o possible_o be_v carry_v with_o such_o a_o affection_n but_o that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n have_v touch_v the_o very_a bottom_n of_o his_o heart_n but_o when_o he_o beseech_v god_n to_o give_v he_o understanding_n he_o mean_v to_o have_v god_n to_o increase_v that_o grace_n which_o before_o he_o have_v receive_v now_o if_o he_o who_o be_v so_o great_o advance_v yea_o that_o have_v receive_v the_o spirit_n of_o prophecy_n to_o instruct_v other_o which_o be_v the_o principal_a spirit_n to_o govern_v the_o people_n of_o god_n if_o he_o i_o say_v have_v need_n to_o make_v such_o a_o prayer_n what_o shall_v we_o do_v which_o have_v scarce_o any_o one_o spark_n of_o understanding_n in_o our_o mind_n aught_o not_o we_o i_o beseech_v you_o to_o pray_v with_o a_o more_o fervent_a desire_n to_o have_v god_n to_o grant_v we_o understanding_n and_o a_o great_a deal_n the_o more_o ought_v we_o to_o be_v stir_v up_o thereto_o when_o as_o david_n say_v that_o we_o be_v not_o able_a too_o live_v until_o such_o time_n as_o god_n have_v so_o enlighten_v we_o too_o the_o end_n we_o may_v conceive_v this_o truth_n and_o righteousness_n which_o be_v in_o his_o law_n see_v here_o i_o say_v how_o that_o the_o life_n of_o man_n can_v be_v but_o accurse_v until_o such_o time_n as_o they_o be_v come_v even_o unto_o this_o point_n and_o so_o let_v we_o not_o learn_v too_o please_v ourselves_o as_o these_o miserable_a wretched_a worldling_n do_v who_o be_v even_o drunken_a in_o their_o pleasure_n and_o pastime_n and_o think_v that_o there_o be_v no_o pleasure_n nor_o felicity_n without_o they_o exceed_v and_o outrage_n in_o all_o vanity_n and_o folly_n but_o let_v we_o look_v a_o great_a deal_n high_o let_v we_o seek_v after_o god_n &_o know_v that_o then_o our_o life_n shall_v be_v bless_v when_o as_o god_n shall_v have_v deliver_v we_o from_o these_o vain_a allurement_n of_o this_o wicked_a world_n to_o make_v we_o feel_v truth_n and_o righteousness_n which_o be_v in_o his_o word_n that_o it_o may_v be_v the_o only_a end_n of_o our_o life_n of_o all_o our_o council_n and_o our_o only_a exercise_n and_o study_v to_o be_v short_a the_o very_a summarie_n of_o all_o whatsoever_o we_o take_v in_o hand_n according_a too_o this_o holy_a doctrine_n let_v we_o prostrate_v ourselves_o before_o the_o majesty_n of_o our_o good_a god_n in_o acknowledge_v our_o offence_n beseech_v he_o that_o it_o will_v please_v he_o to_o make_v we_o to_o feel_v the_o right_a way_n we_o see_v then_o how_o careful_a david_n be_v to_o call_v upon_o the_o name_n of_o god_n how_o he_o apply_v his_o whole_a affection_n and_o continue_v therein_o because_o that_o every_o of_o we_o may_v do_v the_o like_a now_o in_o the_o first_o place_n he_o say_v i_o have_v cry_v out_o with_o my_o whole_a heart_n wherety_n he_o signify_v unto_o we_o that_o he_o babble_a not_o even_o as_o the_o hypocrite_n do_v or_o else_o that_o he_o cry_v not_o out_o upon_o god_n for_o a_o fashion_n or_o cold_o but_o pray_v with_o a_o true_a &_o earnest_a zeal_n neither_o do_v we_o any_o otherwise_o but_o even_o profane_a the_o name_n of_o god_n when_o as_o we_o pray_v unto_o he_o without_o attentive_a mind_n have_v our_o thought_n wander_v this_o way_n and_o that_o way_n and_o on_o every_o side_n let_v we_o then_o consider_v what_o it_o be_v principal_o to_o be_v require_v in_o our_o prayer_n which_o be_v that_o we_o must_v not_o only_o wag_v the_o tongue_n and_o open_v our_o mouth_n with_o a_o intent_n to_o pray_v unto_o god_n but_o we_o must_v pray_v sincere_o and_o pure_o also_o unto_o he_o from_o the_o bottom_n of_o our_o heart_n now_o in_o very_a deed_n we_o ought_v to_o bring_v this_o into_o a_o more_o plain_a order_n but_o yet_o according_a to_o the_o manner_n which_o we_o have_v heretofore_o keep_v in_o handle_v of_o this_o psalm_n it_o shall_v suffice_v that_o we_o set_v down_o every_o thing_n brief_o in_o certain_a article_n it_o remain_v then_o for_o this_o time_n that_o every_o one_o private_o by_o himself_o do_v more_o diligent_o meditate_v &_o bestow_v his_o whole_a study_n herein_o now_o let_v we_o see_v how_o we_o ought_v too_o make_v our_o prayer_n to_o god_n to_o wit_n our_o prayer_n must_v not_o proceed_v from_o the_o midst_n of_o pray_v unto_o god_n and_o to_o be_v at_o full_a liberty_n to_o come_v before_o he_o if_o we_o have_v not_o this_o hope_n that_o he_o will_v hear_v we_o and_o how_o can_v we_o have_v any_o hope_n if_o he_o have_v not_o give_v we_o his_o word_n which_o witness_v unto_o we_o his_o will_n and_o certifi_v we_o that_o we_o shall_v not_o lose_v our_o labour_n in_o pray_v unto_o he_o the_o first_o lay_v open_a then_o which_o be_v requisite_a for_o right_o call_v upon_o god_n be_v that_o we_o come_v untoo_o he_o in_o full_a assurance_n that_o he_o will_v hear_v us._n and_o why_o so_o because_o he_o have_v promise_v us._n they_o then_o which_o shall_v pray_v at_o all_o adventure_n shall_v gain_v nothing_o as_o the_o scripture_n say_v for_o it_o be_v do_v but_o in_o hypocrisy_n when_o as_o we_o assure_v not_o ourselves_o that_o god_n will_v hear_v us._n we_o must_v as_o the_o apostle_n say_v in_o draw_v near_o unto_o god_n know_v that_o it_o be_v god_n which_o call_v we_o unto_o he_o and_o they_o which_o have_v not_o this_o knowledge_n shall_v be_v void_a of_o their_o hope_n and_o therefore_o every_o man_n must_v look_v into_o himself_o to_o be_v thus_o resolve_v and_o say_v well_o have_v some_o desire_n and_o zeal_n we_o shall_v never_o know_v what_o gain_n we_o shall_v have_v by_o our_o prayer_n because_o we_o trust_v not_o to_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n nor_o yet_o stay_v ourselves_o upon_o they_o let_v we_o then_o not_o doubt_v but_o that_o he_o will_v help_v we_o and_o that_o we_o shall_v feel_v his_o aid_n in_o time_n convenient_a hereby_o we_o see_v that_o we_o can_v never_o due_o and_o true_o pray_v unto_o god_n in_o all_o the_o religion_n of_o popery_n i_o say_v according_a too_o that_o doctrine_n which_o they_o hold_v and_o why_o so_o because_o they_o teach_v the_o wretched_a world_n to_o be_v always_o in_o doubt_n and_o waver_a see_v then_o that_o a_o mere_a and_o profess_a papist_n can_n never_o be_v able_a too_o make_v one_o prayer_n to_o please_v god_n and_o can_v choose_v but_o to_o provoke_v the_o wrath_n of_o god_n against_o themselves_o in_o all_o their_o prayer_n and_o why_o so_o forsomuch_o as_o they_o look_v not_o unto_o his_o promise_n upon_o which_o we_o must_v settle_v ourselves_o to_o be_v assure_v but_o that_o which_o be_v worse_o they_o teach_v that_o in_o their_o prayer_n they_o must_v always_o stand_v in_o doubt_n so_o much_o the_o more_o than_o ought_v this_o doctrine_n right_o too_o be_v consider_v of_o we_o where_o it_o be_v declare_v that_o the_o key_n which_o open_v the_o gate_n for_o we_o to_o approach_v unto_o god_n in_o call_v upon_o his_o name_n be_v this_o that_o we_o must_v have_v the_o promise_n contain_v in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n &_o to_o learn_v such_o a_o affiance_n out_o of_o it_o as_o that_o we_o doubt_v not_o that_o god_n regard_v we_o and_o that_o so_o oftentimes_o as_o we_o pray_v unto_o he_o that_o our_o prayer_n enter_v into_o he_o and_o that_o he_o will_v receive_v they_o declare_v that_o he_o be_v ready_a too_o grant_v unto_o we_o wat_fw-mi soever_o we_o shall_v crave_v of_o he_o in_o his_o son_n name_n according_a to_o his_o wil._n now_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n because_o that_o god_n ordinary_o hear_v not_o we_o at_o the_o first_o chop_n that_o be_v to_o say_v show_v not_o it_o according_a to_o the_o outward_a show_n and_o as_o we_o will_v wish_v here_o be_v require_v patience_n to_o remain_v constant_a in_o this_o assurance_n and_o too_o retain_v and_o nourish_v it_o in_o our_o heart_n after_o the_o example_n of_o david_n for_o he_o say_v not_o that_o he_o pray_v only_o unto_o god_n for_o a_o time_n but_o show_v that_o he_o continue_v therein_o and_o that_o he_o prevent_v the_o night_n watch_v see_v then_o what_o perseveraunce_n be_v in_o he_o as_o touch_v prayer_n now_o it_o be_v a_o sign_n that_o god_n show_v he_o not_o too_o have_v obtain_v the_o thing_n that_o he_o pray_v for_o it_o fall_v out_o then_o that_o david_n his_o patience_n be_v trouble_v in_o that_o that_o he_o languish_v and_o yet_o for_o all_o that_o he_o always_o trust_v to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n now_o we_o for_o our_o part_n be_v to_o do_v even_o the_o like_a for_o although_o god_n show_v not_o himself_o to_o be_v merciful_a unto_o we_o so_o soon_o as_o we_o will_v wish_v and_o too_o grant_v we_o our_o request_n yet_o ought_v we_o notwithstanding_o too_o build_v hereupon_o that_o he_o will_v be_v faithful_a and_o show_v himself_o so_o in_o the_o end_n although_o he_o prolong_v it_o for_o a_o time_n he_o do_v it_o because_o he_o know_v it_o to_o be_v very_o profitable_a for_o we_o to_o humble_v we_o and_o to_o prove_v our_o patience_n it_o follow_v soon_o after_o my_o eye_n prevent_v the_o night_n watch_v that_o i_o may_v be_v occupy_v in_o thy_o word_n this_o verse_n be_v not_o put_v to_o without_o cause_n i_o have_v already_o say_v that_o we_o can_v have_v no_o access_n unto_o god_n in_o our_o prayer_n without_o we_o trust_v to_o his_o word_n for_o it_o be_v a_o very_a hard_a matter_n for_o we_o to_o stay_v upon_o god_n if_o we_o only_o consider_v of_o he_o according_a to_o our_o natural_a reason_n whether_o he_o be_v near_o we_o or_o no_o and_o whether_o he_o put_v forth_o his_o hand_n to_o help_v us._n when_o then_o we_o shall_v not_o perceive_v this_o power_n and_o grace_n of_o god_n as_o we_o will_v wish_v it_o be_v a_o very_a hard_a thing_n for_o we_o too_o believe_v in_o he_o and_o therefore_o we_o must_v stout_o strive_v in_o this_o behalf_n and_o see_v why_o david_n say_v that_o his_o eye_n prevent_v the_o night_n watch_n to_o be_v occupy_v in_o that_o which_o may_v confirm_v he_o as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v o_o lord_n i_o have_v believe_v thy_o word_n but_o it_o be_v with_o great_a pain_n and_o with_o many_o hard_a conflict_n for_o i_o be_o a_o weak_a man_n and_o of_o my_o own_o nature_n incline_v to_o distrust_n and_o beside_o i_o be_o assail_v with_o a_o great_a number_n of_o temptation_n but_o yet_o have_v i_o remedy_v all_o this_o gear_n when_o as_o i_o occupy_v myself_o about_o this_o continual_a meditation_n of_o thy_o word_n which_o i_o do_v not_o only_o bestow_v on_o the_o day_n time_n but_o
