NOw it came to pass in the thirtieth year in the fourth moneth in the fifth day of the moneth as I was among the † Heb. captivity captives by the river of Chebar that the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God 2 In the fifth day of the moneth which was the fifth year of king Jehoiachins captivity 3 The word of the LORD came expresly unto † Heb. Wheresoever thou findest the dead † signing bury them take them and bury them and I will give thee the first place in my resurrection 24 Abide still O my people and take thy rest for thy quietness shall come 25 Nourish thy children O thou good nurse stablish their feet 26 As for the servants whom I have given thee there shall not one of them perish for I will require them from among thy number 27 Be not weary for when the day of trouble and heaviness cometh others shall weep and be sorrowful but thou shalt be merry and have abundance 28 The heathen shall envy thee but they shall be able to do nothing against thee saith the Lord. 29 My hands shall cover thee so that thy children shall not see hell 30 Be joyful O thou mother with thy children for I will deliver thee saith the Lord. 31 Remember thy children that sleep for I shall bring them out of the sides of the earth and shew mercy unto them for I am merciful saith the Lord Almighty 32 Embrace thy children until I come and ‖ Or prea●e shew mercy unto them for my wells run over and my grace shall not fail 33 I Esdras received a charge of the Lord upon the mount Oreb that I should go unto Israel but when I came unto then they set me at nought and despised the commandment of the Lord. 34 And therefore I say unto you O ye heathen that hear and understand Look for your Shepherd he shall give you everlasting rest for he is nigh at hand that shall come in the end of the world 35 Be ready to the reward of the kingdom for the everlasting light shall shine upon you for evermore 36 Flee the shadow of this world receive the joyfulness of your glory I testify my Saviour openly 37 O receive the gift that is given you and be glad giving thanks unto him that hath called you to the heavenly kingdom 38 Arise up and stand behold the number of those that be sealed ‖ Or for in the feast of the Lord. 39 Which are departed from the shadow of the world and have received glorious garments of the Lord. 40 Take thy number O Sion and † Lat. conclude shut up those of thine that are clothed in white which have fulfilled the law of the Lord. 41 The number of thy children whom thou longedst for is fulfilled beseech the power of the Lord that thy people which have been called from the beginning may be hallowed 42 * Rev. 7.9 I Esdras saw upon the mount Sion a great people whom I could not number and they all praised the Lord with songs 43 And in the midst of them there was a young man of a high stature taller then all the rest and upon every one of their heads he set crowns and was more exalted which I marvelled at greatly 44 So I asked the angel and said ‖ Or Lord. Sir what are these 45 He answered and said unto me These be they that have put off the mortal clothing and put on the immortal and have confessed the name of God now are they crowned and receive palms 46 Then said I unto the angel What young person is it that crowneth them and giveth them palms in their hands 47 So he answered and said unto me It is the Son of God whom they have confessed in the world Then began I greatly to commend them that stood so stifly for the name of the Lord. 48 Then the angel said unto me Go thy way and tell my people what manner of things and how great wonders of the Lord thy God thou hast seen CHAP. LXIV 1 David prayeth for deliverance complaining of his enemies 7 He promiseth himself to see such an evident destruction of his enemies as the righteous shall rejoyce at it ¶ To the chief musician A psalm of David HEar my voice O God in my prayer preserve my life from fear of the enemy 2 Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity 3 * Psal 11.2 Who whet their tongue like a sword and bend their bows to shoot their arrows even bitter words 4 That they may shoot in secret at the perfect suddenly do they shoot at him and fear not 5 They encourage themselves in an evil ‖ Or speeth matter they commune † Heb to hide snares of laying snares privily they say Who shall see them 6 They search out iniquities ‖ Or we are consumed by that which they have throughly searched they accomplish † Heb. a searth searched a diligent search both the inward thought of every one of them and the heart is deep 7 But God shall shoot at them with an arrow suddenly † Heb. their wound shall be shall they be wounded 8 So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves all that see them shall flee away 9 And all men shall fear and shall declare the work of God for they shall wisely consider of his doing 10 The righteous shall be glad in the LORD and shall trust in him and all the upright in heart shall glory PSAL. David praiseth God for his grace 4 The blessedness of Gods chosen by reason of benefits ¶ To the chief musician A psalm and song of David PRaise † Heb. is silent waiteth for thee O God in Sion and unto thee shall the vow be performed 2 O thou that hearest prayer unto thee shall all flesh come 3 † Heb. words or matters of iniquities Iniquities prevail against me as for our transgressions thou shalt purge them away 4 Blessed is the man whom thou choosest and causest to approach unto thee that he may dwell in thy courts we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house even of thy holy temple 5 By terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us O God of our salvation who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth and of them that are afar off upon the sea 6 Which by his strength setteth fast the mountains being girded with power 7 Which stilleth the noise of the seas the noise of their waves and the tumult of the people 8 They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening ‖ Or to sing to rejoyce 9 Thou visitest the earth and ‖ Or after thou hadst nude it to desire rain waterest it thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God which is full of water thou preparest them corn when thou hast so provided for it 10 Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly ‖ Or thou caust● rain to destend into the furrows thereof thou settlest the furrows thereof † Heb. thou dissolvest it thou makest it soft with showres thou blessest the springing thereof 11 Thou crownest † Heb. the year of thy goodness the year with thy goodness and thy paths drop fatness 12 They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness and the little hills † Heb. are girded with joy rejoyce on every side 13 The pastures are clothed with flocks the valleys also are covered over with corn they shout for joy they also sing PSAL.
