LXXXII GOD in the congregation stanâ— of them that mighty be He al 's among the lower Gods doth judge most righteouslie verse 2 How long will yee unjustly still thus judge and right reject And persons of the wicked men accept with such respect verse 3 Defend those whom poor in the â— and fatherlesse yee see To the afflicted justice doe and those that needy be verse 4 Deliver now those that are poore and needy in the land With care and diligence them rid out of the wickeds hand They know not nor wil understand in darknesse they walk on All the foundations of the earth now out of course are gone verse 6 I have thus said that ye are gods who sit in dignitie And that of him who is most High you all the children be verse 7 But like all other mortall men at last heer die ye shall And like one of the Princes ye assuredly shall fall verse 8 To judge the earth with judgement just arise O GOD of might For thou all Nations every where inherit shalt by right PSALME LXXXIII KEep not thou silence in this time O GOD in thy good will Hold not thy peace O God at all and be not ever still verse 2 For lo thine enmies all most strong a tumult make indeed And they that wickedly thee hate have now lift up the head verse 3 They crafty counsell taken have against thy people small Against the poor and hidden ones consulted have they all verse 4 Come let us cut this nation off they have said spight fullie That Israels name no more at all may in remembrance be verse 5 For they together have with one consent consulted all Confederate still they alwayes are against thee great and small verse 6 The Tabernacles of Edom and Ishmaelites in war Of Moab and the Hagarens combined with them were verse 7 Gebal Ammon and Amalek all joyn'd in one desire The Philistims with them were al 's th' inhabitants of Tyre verse 8 Assur in armes with them alwayes is join'd in wicked plot They by their force have holpen much the children al 's of Lot verse 9 Do unto them even as thou didst to Midianites eachone to Sifera and Jabin al 's at the brook or Kishon verse 10 Which perish did in number great at Endor suddenly There they unburi'd for the earth were made as dung to be verse 11 Like Oreb and like Zeeb al 's their nobles make to fall Yea as Zebah and Zalmunnah make thou their Princes all verse 12 Who said in proud and lofty worâ— let us Gods houses take And them all by our mightie hand our own possession make verse 13 O my GOD like a rolling wheele make them thy force to find Yea as dry stubble that is driven before a mightie wind verse 14 Ev'n as a fire upon the earth a wood burns speedilie And as the flame doth set on fire the mountaines that are hie verse 15 So with thy tempest persecute them whom such faults deforme And make them greatly all afraide with thy most fearfull storme verse 16 With great disgrace their faces all cov'red ov'r with shame That by this means they with their heâ— may seeke O LORD thy Name verse 17 Let them also confounded be and troubled ev'n for ever Yea let them be put unto shame and perish altogether verse 18 That men may know that thou whose Name JEHOVAH is alone Art the most High even over all that are the earth upon PSAL. LXXXIIII O Thou who art the Lord of hosts how amiable are Thy Tabernacles unto me removed now so sarre verse 2 My soul doth long yea ev'n doth faint in the LORDS courts to be My heart and flesh do cry out for the living GOD most hie verse 3 Yea ev'n the sparrow hath well found an house wherein to rest And al 's the swallow for herself hath likewise found a nest Ev'n thine Altars where she her young may lay and al 's upbring O Lord of Hosts who art my GOD and my most mighty King verse 4 They blessed are that in thy house do dwell with thy good will For they with glad and joyfull heaâ—â— will thee be praising still verse 5 Most blessed is the man whose stregâ— is wholly plac'd in

LXXXV THou fav'rable O LORD hast been unto thy land we see Of Jacob now brought back thou hast the long captivitie verse 2 Thou of thy people hast forgiven the great iniquitie In thy great mercie all their sin hath covered been by thee verse 4 In mercy thou thy fearfull wrath hast taken all away Thou from thine angers fiercenes gâ— hast turn'd thy self alway verse 4 O GOD of our salvation now turne us thee for to please And cause thine anger at the last now towards us to cease verse 5 Wilt thou for ever angry be with us thy people small Wilt thou also thy wrath draw out to generations all verse 6 Wilt thou not now revive againe us who distressed be That thy afflicted people may alwaies rejoice in thee verse 7 Thy great mercie O LORD alwaâ—â— shew to us in our place And also thy salvation dear now grant us by thy grace verse 8 What God wil speak I 'le hear for to his saints and people plain He will speak peace but let them not to foly turn again verse 9 Surely his great salvation is most nigh to to them at hand That fear him so that glory may dwell stedfast in our land verse 10 Both mercy now and also truth are joyntly met together And righteousnesse and peace also have each one kissed other verse 11 Out of the earth truth pleasantly shall spring it for to crown And righteousnesse with Majestie shall from the heaven look down verse 12 Yea what is good the Lord above shall give it with his hand And her increase most plentifull yeeld shall our fertile land verse 13 Then righteousnes most gravely â— before him go alway And of his steps which never fail shall set us in the way PSAL. LXXXVI IN mercy Lord bow down thine eâ— hear thou me by and by For needy in a great distresse and also poor am I. verse 2 My soul now for I holy am preserve by thy good will O thou my GOD thy servant save that trusteth in thee still verse 3 Since Lord I to thee daily cry be mercifull to me verse 4 Rejoice O Lord thy servants soul for it I lift to thee verse 5 For thou LORD art for ever good and to forgive most free And in mercy most plenteous al 's to all that call on thee verse 6 Unto the prayer that I make in mercy now give ear And to my supplications voice O LORD attend and hear verse 7 In the day of my trouble I will surely call on thee For thou in thy great mercy wilt most surely answer me verse 8 Among the gods O LORD to thee there 's none like great or small Nor are there any works now like unto thy workes at all verse 9 All nations great whom thou O Lord hast made mov'd by thy fame Shall come and worship thee before and glorifie thy Name verse 10 For thou art very great indeed and by thy power are done Most wondrous things that heer we see thou art ev'n God alone verse 11 Teach me thy way O Lord I wil walk in thy truth sincere By thy good sprit unite my heart thy holy Name to feare verse 12 O Lord my God with all my hâ— praise I will gladly thee And thy great Name for evermore I al 's will glorifie verse 13 For thy mercy now towards me in greatnesse doth excell And thou my soul deliv'red hast even from the lowest hell verse 14 O GOD the proud against men troups violent now have met That for my soul have sought and hâ— thee not before them set verse 15 But thou Lord a God gracious aâ— and of compassion full Long suffring and most plenteous aâ— in truth and mercie still verse 16 O turne to me and in distresse upon me mercy have Unto thy servant give thy strength thine hand-maids son now save verse 17 For good me shew a token thaâ— my haters may it see â—nd be asham'd because thou LORD didst help and comfort me PSAL. LXXXVII NOw in the holie mountaines his fundation is not small The gate of Zion GOD loves more then Jacobs dwellings all O GODs citie most glorious things are spoken still of thee I 'le Babylon and Rachab name to them that now know me â—ehold Tyre and Philistia a people most forlorne â—ee also Ethiopia this man ev'n there was borne And of Sion it shall be said this and that man at last Was borne in Her and the most High establish shall her fast The Lord shal count when he writs up the people once profane â—hat this man in this city was renew'd and borne again verse 7 Both singers there and players â— on instruments shall be All my best hearts affections still as well springs are in thee PSAL. LXXXVIII LORD GOD of my salvation I have with all my might Still cri'd in mine affliction before thee day and night verse 2 Let my prayer before thee come that thou the same my hear In my distresse and grief incline unto my cry thine ear verse 3 For my soul is of troubles full which daily vex'd me have My poor distressed life also drawes neer unto the grave verse 4 I counted am with them that dâ— into the pit doth fall I verilie am as a man that hath no strength at all verse 5 Like slaine that lie in grave amoâ— the dead from doings free Whom thou remembrest not and they cut off by thy hand be Thou hast me with thy haÌ„d laid down the lowest pit me keeps â—n darknesse I do still abide even in the greatest deeps Thy wrath doth lye upon me hard and thou who others saves Me hast afflicted fearfully with all thy boistrous waves Thou mine acquaintance far from me hast put as of no worth Thou hast me made abhorr'd I now shut up can not come foorth verse 9 By reason of affliction Lord thus mourneth still
their sons and daughters dear Whom unto Cana'ns idols they did offer with their hand So with the blood of their own brood polluted was the land verse 39 Thus with their own most wicked works defiled all they were And with their own inventions went a whoring ev'ry where verse 40 For this against his people was the Lords wrath kindled sore So that his own inheritance he greatly did abhor verse 41 And he them gave into the hand of heathen void of grace And they that hated them did rule ov'r them in ev'ry place verse 42 Their enmies al 's despightfully oppressd them in the land And they unto subjection were brought underneath their hand verse 43 He many times delivred them but with their counsell slie They him provok'd and were brougâ—◠〈◊〉 for their iniquitie verse 44 Neverthelesse he mercifull in pity did regard Their great affliction in their grief when thus their cry he heard verse 45 And he remembred well also his Covnant for their good And did repent according to his mercies multitud verse 46 He also in his goodnesse great them to be piti'd made Of all those that them from their land then captives cari'd had verse 47 Save us O Lord our God and us out from the heathen raise To give thanks to thy holy Name and triumph in thy praise verse 48 To blesse the Lord God of Isra'l for evermore accord And al 's let all the people say Amen praise ye the LORD PSAL. CVII VNto the LORD most mercifull O give now thanks together For he is good for his mercy endureth fast for ever verse 2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so in all the land Whom safely he redeemed hath even from the enmies hand verse 3 And gathred them out of the lands wherein they were distrest From South and also from the North from East and from the West verse 4 They wandred in the wildernesse a solitarie way They found no city there at all wherein to dwell or stay verse 5 They hungry all and thirsty al 's were forced to lament Their soul in them in this distresse most fearfully did faint verse 6 Then in their trouble to the LORâ— they fervently did cry And he them out of their distresse deliv'red by and by verse 7 And he in mercy led them foorth by the right way also That longing soul doth fully satisfie And filleth with his goodnesse great the souls that hungry be verse 10 Such as in darknesse sit and are ev'n in deaths shadow found Who being in affliction great and yron also bound verse 11 Because against the words of God they still rebelled then And the counsell of the most High they proudly did contemne verse 12 Therefore with labour speedily he then brought Because of their transgression and their iniquitie Fools who do hate instruction oft sore afflicted be verse 18 Their weari'd soul alwayes abhorâ— all maner of meat that 's heer And they unto the gates of death by sicknesse still draw neer verse 19 Then in their trouble to the LORâ— they fervently do cry He out of their distresses all them saveth by and by verse 20 He sent his word to them anone and heal'd them great and small And also he deliv'red them from their destructions all verse 21 Oh that all men would praise the Lord for his great goodnes then â—nd for his works most wonderfull unto the sons of men verse 22 To sacrifice the sacrifice of thanks let them not spare â—nd with rejoicing chearfully his wondrous works declare verse 23 Who to the sea go down in ships that trade in waters great verse 24 They see Gods works wonders al 's which in the depths he set verse 25 For he the stormy wind commands and raiseth by and by Which furiously the waves thereof lifts up unto the Sky verse 26 They mount up to the heav'n they go down to the depths again Their soul is melted fearfully because of troubling pain verse 27 They reel both to fro while â— to save themselves intend And stagger like a drunken man and are at their wits end verse 28 Then in their trouble to the LORâ— they fervently do cry And out of their distresses he them bringeth by and by verse 29 The raging storm a pleasant calâ— he maketh at his will So that in a most wondrous way the waves thereof are still verse 30 Then are they glad because that â— no more with tempests driv'n Most quiet be so he them brings to their desired hav'n verse 31 Oh that all men would praise â— LORâ— for his great goodnesse then And for his works most wonderfull unto the sons of men verse 32 Al 's in the congregation great let them exalt him hie And thankfully still praise him where th'Elders assembled be verse 33 He turns into a wildernesse the rivers by and by â—nd water springs into a ground that is exceeding dry verse 34 A fertile and a fruitfull land he turns to barrennesse â—ecause the men that dwell therein are given to wickednesse verse 35 Into a standing water all the wildernesse he brings â—nd he the dry and thirsty ground turnes into water springs verse 36 There he doth make the hungrie dwell that they a city fair â—or pleasant habitation may most joyfully prepare verse 37 And plant vineyards aboundantly and also sow the field Which may at last most plenteously the fruits of increase yeeld verse 38 He also blesseth them so that they greatly do increase And suffreth not by any hurt their cattell to decrease verse 39 Again they minish'd are and broght down low far from relief Through very great oppression affliction al 's and grief verse 40 On Princes he doth powre coÌ„tempt and causeth them to stray In the wast barren wildernesse wherein there is no way verse 41 Yet from affliction he the poore sets high as on a rock And him in mercy maketh al 's great fam'lies like a flock verse 42 The righteous man it well shall seâ— and heartily rejoice And after all iniquitie her mouth shall stop and close verse 43 Who so is wise and wil those
Even for the house of God our Lord I will in every part â—ost carefully still seek alwayes thy good with all my heart PSAL. CXXIII TO thee I lift mine eyes O thou that in the heav'ns dost dwell Behold as servants eyes look to their masters hands right well â—nd as a maidens eyes unto her mistresse hand anone â—o wait our eyes on GOD till he have mercy us upon verse 3 Have mercy upon us O LORD have mercy us upon For with contempt exceedingly we fild are every one verse 4 Our soul exceedingly is fild with scorning vile and lewd Of men at ease and also with contempt ev'n of the proud PSAL. CXXIV If God had not been on our side now Israel may say thus verse 2 If on our side God had not been when men rose against us verse 3 Then they us surely swallow'd haâ— up quick at their desire When their great wrath against us alâ— was kindled as a fire verse 4 Then the great swelling waters haâ— us overwhelm'd eachone The streame that runneth with greaâ— forcâ— ev'n ov'r our soul had gone verse 5 Then the proud waters had gone ovâ— our troubled soul alway verse 6 Blest be the Lord who to their teetâ— hath not giv'n us a prey verse 7 Our soul is surely as a bird escaped from the snare Of foulers the snare broken is and we escaped are verse 8 In the name of the Lord our God our only help doth stand Who heav'n and earth most gloriously made by his mighty hand PSAL. CXXV THey that trust always in the Lord shall be like Zion hill Which can not be removed but abides for ever still As round about Jerusalem the mountains are together â—o from henceforth the LORD about his people is for ever For on the Righteous lot the rod of wicked shall not lie Left that the Righteous foorth their hands put to iniquitie verse 4 Do good O LORD unto all those that be good in thy sight And to all them that ever still are in their hearts upright verse 5 Who turn aside to crooked wayes the LORD shall them anone Lead foorth with doers ill but peace shall Isra'l be upon PSAL. CXXVI WHen God the Lord did turn agaiâ— Zions captivitie We like unto men in a dreame did seem alwayes to be verse 2 Then was our mouth with laughteâ— filâ— and tongue with singing soone Then said the heathen God the Lord for them great things hath done verse 3 The Lord hath done great things forâ— which makes us glad in heart verse 4 Turn back Lord our captivitie as streams in southern part verse 5 They that do sow their seed in tearâ— and sigh with sorrows deep When after grief is past and gone they in great joy shall reap verse 6 He that go'th foorth weepeth soâ—â— still bearing precious seed Shall doubtlesse come again with joy and bring his sheaves with speed PSALME CXXVII THey build in vain except the Lord the house build and maintain Except the LORD the city keep the watch-men wake in vain verse 2 It 's vain for you early to rise to sit up late and bread Of sorrows eat to his belov'd he giveth sleep in need verse 3 Loe children are an heritage which GOD with great regard Gives unto men and of the womb the fruit is his reward verse 4 As arrows in the hands of him that mighty heer we see So children of the youth always unto their parents be verse 5 Who hath his quiver full of them is in a happy state They not asham'd shall boldly speak with th'enmies in the gate PSAL CXXVIII SUre every one that fears the LORD most blest is all his days That with a straight and upright heaâ— still walketh in his ways verse 2 For thou the labour of thine hands shall eat most chearfullie Thou shalt be happy and it shall be alwayes well with thee verse 3 Thy wife shall like a fruitfull Vine by thy house side be found Thy children like green Olive plants about thy table round verse 4 Behold that thus the righteous maâ— shall ev'n be blessed heer That with his heart without deceit the LORD doth truely fear verse 5 The LORD thee out of Zion still shall blesse assuredlie And of Jerusalem the good thou all thy dayes shalt see verse 6 Yea more thy childrens children thoâ— shalt see with great increase And also upon Israel a most desired peace PSALME CXXIX THey many a time afflicted have me troubled every way â—nd that ev'n upward from my youth may Israel now say They many a time stil from my youth with troubles did assail â—et they have not had strength at all against me to prevail The plowers plow'd upon my back they made their furrows long The Lord is righteous he hath cut the cords of wicked strong Confounded heer on earth let them all be in their estate And turned back most suddenly that still do Zion hate verse 6 Let them be as the grasse that grows upon the houses top Which parched withreth with great heat afore it groweth up verse 7 Where with the mower doth not fill at any time his hand Nor yet he that doth bind the sheaâ— his bosome on the land verse 8 Nor yet say they which then go by Gods blessing on you be We in the name of God the Lord do blesse you heartilie PSAL. CXXX OUt of the deepths I still O Loâ—â— have cryed unto thee verse 2 Lord hear and to my sutes thine eaâ— let them attentive be verse 3 LORD if thou mark iniquities who shall before thee stand verse 4 But that thou mayst be fear'd wiâ— thâ— forgivenesse is at hand verse 5 I wait for GOD my soul doth waiâ— and I hope in the Lord verse 6 More theÌ„ they that for morning watâ— my soul waits for the Lord. I say yea more then they that watch the morning for to see verse 7 Let Isra'l hope in GOD for with the LORD great mercies be â—ith him also redemption is most plenteous for us all And from all his iniquities Isra'l redeem he shall PSAL. XXXI MIne heart O Lord not hautie is mine eyes not loftie be â—eddle not in matters great or things too high for me My self I have behav'd and still'd as of his mother mild child that 's wean'd yea even my soul is as a weaned child Let Israel all ev'n in the LORD still hope and him adore â—om hencefoorth as their duety is and so for evermore PSAL. CXXXII NOw David and his troubles Lord remember and him spare How to the Lord ev'n Jacobs God he vow'd and also sware I surely to the Tabernacle of my house will not go Nor yet to get my rest and ease go up my bed into verse 4 I surely henceforth will not give unto mine eyes a sleep Or yet a slumber suffer will on mine eye-lids to creep verse 5 Untill I find out for the LORD a place to make abode An habitation well prepar'd for Jacobs mighty GOD. verse 6 Lo we of it at Ephrata
's he that unto mighty Kings salvation doth afford Who David his servant doth save ev'n from the hurtfull sword verse 11 Rid save me from childreÌ„ strange whose mouth speaks vanitie And their right hand a right hand is of falsehood verily verse 12 That our dear sons as plants grown up so in their youth may be Our daughters as drest corner stones ev'n like a palace hie verse 13 That full our garners may affoord all maner of store for meat â—ur sheep may bring foorth thousands and ten thousands in our street Our oxen be to labour strong that no in breaking be 〈◊〉 going out and that our streets of all complaints be free â—at people happy is that is in such a case restor'd 〈◊〉 happy is that people sure whose great God is the Lord. PSAL. CXLV O Thou who art my God King I will extoll thy fame â—â—r ever and for ever I will blesse thy holy Name Ev'n ev'ry day I live on earth I with thy saints together â—ill still thee blesse and praise I will thy Name for ever and ever Great is the Lord and greatly to be praisd by great and small And his excellent greatnesse is unsearchable to all verse 4 One generation still shall praise thy works unto another And clearly also shall declare thy mighty acts together verse 5 I of the glorious honour of thy divine Majestie Will alwayes speak and of thy wâ— that still most wondrous be verse 6 And of thy acts most terrible men shall speak of the might And I likewise thy greatnesse will declare with heart upright verse 7 They utter shall aboundantly of thy great goodnesse all The memorie of thy righteousneâ— most sweetly sing they shall verse 6 The LORD is gracious and full compassion ev'ry way To anger slow and also is of mercy great alway verse 9 The LORD his goodnes doth exâ— unto both great and small â—is tender mercies alwayes are his works ev'n over all Thy works al shal thee praise O Lord thy Saints shall blesse thee all Thy kingdoms glory tell shall they of thy might talk they shall To make known to the sons of men his acts that mighty be â—â—d of his kingdome excellent the glorious Majestie An everlasting kingdome is thy Kingdome firme and sure 〈◊〉 thy dominion always doth through ages all endure By his almighty hand the LORD upholdeth all that fall â—â—d those that low be bowed down up high he raiseth all The eyes of all things on the earth wait on thee as is meet â—â—d in due season always thou giv'st unto them their meat verse 16 Thy hand thou op'nest very wide great blessings for to bring And the desire dost satisfie of every living thing verse 17 The LORD is ever righteous still in all wayes that are his And also he in all his works most truely holy is verse 18 The LORD to all that call on him is nigh in ev'ry part Even to all those that on him call in truth with all their heart verse 19 The good desire he will fulfill of them that do him fear He will them save he also will their cry in trouble hear verse 20 The Lord preserves them who 〈…〉 that nothing them anoy But all the wicked in his wrath he surely will destroy verse 21 The praise of the Almighty Lorâ— my mouth shall still proclame And let all flesh for evermore still blesse his holy Name PSAL. CXLVI PRaise ye the Lord his servants all and that with one accord O thou my soul most chearfully praise the almighty Lord. XIX THe pleasant heaveÌ„s that are abâ— Gods glorie do declare The firmament doth also shew his handie work most rare verse 2 Day unto day through all the earth still uâ—treth speach aright And al 's the knowledge of the same night sheweth unto night verse 3 Among men there no language is nor any kinde of speach Wherein a most clear way their voice is not well heard to teach verse 4 Their line throgh all the earth is gone and al 's their words do run Unto the worlds end he in them a tent set for the Sun verse 5 Which as a bridgrome is that comes out from his chambers place And as a strong man doth rejoice most swift to run a race verse 6 From heav'ns end is his going forth his circuit al 's made meet Unto its end is and nothing can be hid from his heat verse 7 The law of God is most perfect converting Soules alwayes Gods testimony is right sure it makes the simple wise verse 8 The statutes of the Lord are rigâ—â— rejoicing heart and minde The Lords commandment is most 〈◊〉 inlightning eves most blind verse 9 The fear of God the Lord is cleaâ— enduring fast for ever The judgements of the Lord are 〈◊〉 and righteous altogether verse 10 They more to be desired are then gold yea much fine gold Then hony and the hony combe I sweeter do them hold verse 11 Moreover thy servant by them is warn'd to have regard And in the keeping of the same there is a great reward verse 12 Who among men can understanâ— what have his errours beene From my most vile and secret faultâ— in mercy make me cleane verse 13 Keep me so that presumptuous sins reigne not now over me Then upright I and innocent from the great sin shall be verse 14 The words al of my mouth thoghts that are within mine heart Accept O Lord who both my strength and my redeemer art PSAL. THe Lord thee hear even in the day when he doth troubles send The glorious name of Jacobs God in mercy thee defend verse 2 And from the Sanctuary send thee help by his good will And out of Sions holy place thee alwayes strengthen still Thy offrings all which thou dost bring let God remember now And also thy burnt sacrifice accept and well allow According also to thine heart thee grant things great or small And by his loving kindnesse al 's fulfill thy counsell all verse 5 In thy salvation wee 'l rejoice in our Gods Name we will Set up our banners high the LORâ— thy prayers all well fulfill verse 6 Now know I that the Lord doth even his Anointed dear With saving strength of his right from heav'n he will him heaâ— verse 7 In charets some and some like trust in their horses still But we all of the LORD our Gâ—â— the Name remember will verse 8 They are brought down fall rise and stand upright all verse 9 Lord save us let the King also now hear us when we call PSAL. XXVI â—Udge me O Lord for walk'd I have in mine integrity I trusted al 's have in the Lord therefore slide shall not I. verse 2 Examine me O LORD and al 's me prove in every part Try thou like wise most narrowly my reins and al 's my heart verse 3 For thy most loving kindnesse is alwayes before mine eyes And in thy truth I constantly have walked thee to please verse 4 With persons vaine I surely have not sit in companie Nor will I once go with those meâ— that false dissemblers be verse 5 Of ill doers I hated have the congregation great With wicked men in companie at all I will not sit verse 6 I carefully will wash mine hanâ— in innocency still So I thine Altar with respect O LORD now compasse will That I may publish with the voice of thanks most heartilie And tell of all the wondrous works that have been done by thee The habitation of thy house LORD I have loved well And also the most glorious place where doth thine honour dwell O gather not my soul with those that grievous sinners be Nor yet my life likewise with men whom bloody still we see verse 10 In whose most cruel hands alwayes mischief is ever still And their right hand against all right great bribes do alwayes fill verse 11 Put as for me I will now walk in mine integritie Redeeme thou me and of thy grace be mercifull to me verse 12 In an even place my fixed foot most stedfast standeth still Even in the congregations great the LORD now blesse I will PSAL. XXVIII O Lord my rock to thee I 'll cry not silent be to me Lest I be like men down in pit if thou now silent be verse 2 My supplications voice hear thou when I unto thee cry When to thine holy Oracle mine hands I lift on hye verse 3 With wicked men and doers ill draw thou me not apart Which speak peace to their neighbours still but mischief 's in their heart verse 4 Give them according to their deeds and

Unto the Lord the glory due unto his Name accord â— the beauty of holinesse now worship ye the Lord. XXXV PLead y u my cause O Lord with them that strive with me upright Fight on my side against them all that still against me fight verse 2 In my defence take hold of shield and buckler in thy hand And by thy mercies manifold up for my help now stand verse 3 Draw out the spear and stop the way ' gainst them that me to shame Thus persecute say to my soul I thy salvation am verse 4 Let them confounded be that see my soul to shame them put Let them turn back confused all that do devise my hurt verse 5 Let them as chaffe before the wiâ— be driv'n from place to place And let the Angel of the LORD them in his anger chase verse 6 Let still their way be slippry heer and dark that they may fall And let the Angel of the Lord ev'n persecute them all verse 7 For without cause they have for hid in a pit their net Which without cause ev'n for mysâ— they digged have and set verse 8 Let unawars destruction him take let his net withall Which he hid catch himself in the destruction let him fall verse 9 And thus my soul shall in the Lord be joyfull ev'ry way In his most sure salvation still it shall rejoice alway verse 10 Yea all my bones in this my joy at last shall say in me Lord thou who guids all silent be O LORD in this my great distresse now be not far from me verse 23 Stir up thy self and now awake me judgement to afford Ev'n plead my cause against my foes my GOD and al 's my LORD verse 24 According to thy righteousnesse my LORD GOD judge thou me And let them not in my distresse ov'r me rejoiced be verse 25 Let them not say within their heâ— Ah so we would it have Nor yet say we have doth say That there is no true fear of God before his eyes alway verse 2 For in his own eyes he himself doth flatter foolishlie Till his iniquitie most vile be hatefull found to be The words of his mouth are deceit and great iniquitie He hath left off for to do good and also wife to be He great mischief upon his bed deviseth ever still â—n wayes not good he sets himself he not abhorreth ill Thy mercy Lord is surely in the heav'ns above our search â—nd like wise al 's thy faithfulnesse unto the clouds doth reach Thy righteousnesse most surely is like mountains great and steep A great deep al XXXVII FRet not thy self because of those that evill doers be Nor yet envious be at such as work iniquitie verse 2 For soon ev'n like unto the grasse cut down shall they be all And like unto the herbe that 's green they surely wither shall verse 3 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and carefullie do good And thou shalt dwell into the land well fed with needfull food verse 4 Delight thy self in God also and
any way And in whose silent mouth also are no reproofes alway verse 15 For I in thee alone O LORD do hope most free of fear O LORD my GOD when I do cry thou surely wilt me hear verse 16 For I said Hear me lest that they rejoice should over me They'gainst me when my foot doth slip themselves do magnifie verse 17 For I sore troubled ready am to halt ev'n more and more My sorrow al 's continually is recent me before verse 11 For I sincerely will declare my great iniquitie I alwayes for my grievous sin will surely sorry be verse 19 But my malicious en'mies all are lively strong and great And they are also multiplied that wrongfully me hate verse 20 They also that unthankfully for good me render ill Mine adversaries are because what 's good I follow still verse 21 O LORD my GOD forsake meâ— far from me never be verse 22 O LORD who my salvation aâ— make haste for help to me PSAL. XXXIX I Said I will now carefully take heed unto my way Lest with my tongue most foolishlâ— I sin and go astray I with a bridle strong will keep my mouth still more and more While that the wicked alwayes is in presence me before verse 2 I was then dumb with silence dâ— from good I held my peace My sorrow great exceedingly was stirred in its place verse 3 My heart within me still was hote while I was musing long The fire did burn exceedinglie then spake I with my tongue verse 4 Lord make me now to know mine end and measure of my dayes And what it is that I may know how frail I am alwayes verse 5 Behold thou as an handbredth hast my dayes all made to be And all mine age heer on the earth as nothing is to thee Yea verily heer ev'ry man though he were never so great Is altogether vanitie ev'n at his best estate verse 6 Surely man walks in a vain shew disquieted in vain He heaps up riches and not knows who gather shall that gain verse 7 And now Lord in this time of grief what wait I now for me My hope that alwayes stedfast is is ever still in thee verse 8 From my most vile transgressions deliver now thou me And make me not of foolish men a base reproach to be verse 9 Thus troubled very sore I was even dumb without reply Because thou didst it I my mouth not opned by and by verse 10 Remove thy stroke away from â— which I cannot withstand I am consumed by the blow of thy most heavy hand verse 11 When with rebukes thou dost coâ— reâ— man for iniquitie Thou wasts his beautie like a moath each man is vanitie verse 12 My prayer Lord hear and now untâ— my cry incline thine ears By misregard hold not thy peace at those my wofull tears For I with thee most surely am a stranger here and there And a sojourner for a space as all my fathers were verse 13 O spare me that I may my strength recover as before Before I go away from hence and after be no more PSAL. LXXII O God in mercy to the King thy judgement give thou noâ— And unto the Kings son also thy righteousnesse allow verse 2 The people all with righteousnesse most justly judge he shall And likewise with his judgement righâ— thy poor both one and all verse 3 The mountains to the people shall bring peace in ev'ry way And likewise shall the little hils by righteousnesse for ay verse 4 The people poor he sure shal judgâ— of needy men he shall The children save th'oppressour he shall break in pieces small verse 5 Throughout ev'n generations all they shall thee fear most sure As long as shall the Sun and Moon
mine eye Upon thee daily have I call'd and stretch'd mine hands to thee verse 10 Wilt thou by thine Almighty hand shew wonders to the dead Or shall the dead arise at all thee for to praise indeed verse 11 Thy loving kindnesse shall it be declared in the grave Or of thy faithfulnesse shall men sense in destruction have verse 12 Shall in the dark thy wonders bâ— known And thy righteousnesse Shall it be known even in the land of long forgetfulnesse verse 13 But unto thee I cryed have O LORD with good intent And in the morning early shall my prayer thee prevent verse 14 O Lord why dost thou thus cast my weari'd soul from thee And why hidst thou in anger hot thy pleasant face from me verse 15 From my youth up I troubled aâ— and ready for to die While I thy terrous suffer I distracted am by thee verse 16 Thy fearfull wrath which is mâ— fieâ—â— ov'r me poor wretch doth go â—hy terrours which all measure passe have cut me off also They round about me daily came like water gushing out â—ost furiously they compassde me together all about verse 18 Lover and friend in my distresse far hast thou put from me â—nd mine acquaintance is now all in darknesse hid by thee PSAL. LXXXIX FOrever I 'll God 's mercies sing and with my mouth I shall â—ake clearly known thy faithfulnesse to generations all For mercy I have said shall be built up for ever sure â—hou in the heav'ns thy faithfulnesse shalt stablish to endure A cov'nant with my chosen I have made not to deceive To David my servant in truth solemnly sworn I have verse 4 Thy seed I stablish will most sure for ever not to fall And also will build up thy Throne to generations all verse 5 The heav'ns O Lord shal surely pâ— thy wonders more or lesse In congregation of the Saints likewise thy faithfulnesse verse 6 For who in heav'n can be compar'd unto the Lord most strong Who can be likned to the Lord the mighties sonnes among verse 7 GOD in th'assemblie of the Saints should served be with feare And reverenc'd still should be of all that are about him heere verse 8 Lord God of hosts who is a Lord strong all the world throughout Like to thee or thy faithfulnesse that is thee round about verse 9 Thou by thy mighty power dost 〈◊〉 the rageing of the sea â—hen the fierce waves thereof arise thou mak'st them still to be Thou hast in peices Rahab broke as one alreadie slaine â—â—th thy strong arm thou hast thy foes all scattred in disdaine The heav'ns are thine thine is the earth as for the world we see â—â—d al 's the fulnesse all thereof have founded been by thee By thy great might the north south thou hast created them â—ount Tabor and Hermon also rejoice shall in thy Name verse 13 A mighty arme in all thy works thou hast as all may see â—rong is thy hand as may appear and thy right hand is hie verse 14 Justice Judgement of thy throne are made the dwelling place Mercy and truth together join'd shall go before thy face verse 15 Blest is the people that doth knâ— the joyfull sound aright They of thy countenance O Lord shall sure walk in the light verse 19 They shal in thy most blessed Nâ— rejoice even all the day And in thy righteousnesse they shâ— exalted be alway verse 17 For thou the glorie of their streâ— art as they well do see And in thy favour great our horne shall high exalted be verse 18 For our most strong sure dâ— the Lord is in each thing The holy one of Israel is our most gracious King verse 19 By way of vision that is clear then spakest thou anone These words that full of mercy 〈◊〉 unto thy holy One Thou saidst On one that mighty is I help laid by and by One from the people chosen out exalted high have I. verse 20 My servant David surely I have found as I did crave â— mercy with my holy oil anointed him I have With whom my hand saving grace established shall be â—â—e arme also in every place shall strengthen him surelie The enmie strong puft up with pride shall not on him exact â—r him the son of wickednesse afflict by any fact And I his foes before his face most fiercely down will beat â—â—d plague them all most fearfully that in their heart him hate But with him shall my faithfulnes and al 's my mercy be â—y great Name his mighty horne shall be exalted hie verse 25 I will the power great of his haâ— set also in the sea And his right hand that doth greâ—â— thiâ— shall in the rivers be verse 26 Thou art my father he shall thâ— unto me cry anone My GOD and al 's the mighty rock of my salvation verse 27 I also will him my first-born make by a noble birth Yea higher in great glory then the Kings of all the earth verse 28 My mercy will I keep for him for evermore to last My Cov'nant al 's alwayes shall stanâ— with him for ever fast verse 29 His holy seed al 's I will make for ever to endure And as the days of heav'n so shall his Throne be stablish'd sure verse 30 If his children my law forsakâ— and walk not in my wayes verse 31 If they my statutes break and not my precepts keep alwayes Their great transgression with the rod I will then visit still â—â—d their iniquity also with stripes correct I will My loving kindnesse yet will I not from him wholly take â—r suffer once my faithfulnesse to fail or him forsake My Cov'nant fast I surely will not break to any one â—r yet the least thing alter that out of my lips is gone Once have I by mine holinesse even sworne most solemnlie â—â—t unto David more or lesse I will not surely lie His blessed seed shal by my strength endure for evermore â—nd as the Sun so shall his Throne be stable me before verse 37 It shall for ever as the Moone most sure establish'd be And as a faithfull witnesse that is in the heav'n most hie verse 38 But thou displeased hast cast oâ— yea and abhorred both Thou hast with thine Anointed dear exceedingly been wroth verse 39 Thou of thy servant hast made vâ— the Cov'nant all most sound Thou hast his Crown profained by it casting to the ground verse 40 Thou in thy wrath his hedges do hast broken great and small Thou also his strong holds likewise hast brought to ruine all verse 41 All that passe by the open way to spoile him neere approch Unto his neighbours all about he still is a reproch verse 42 Thou hast of his adversaries the right hand set up hie Thou hast al 's made his enmies all rejoiced for to be verse 43 The edge thou also of his sword hast turned in his hand And in the battell hast not made with courage him to stand verse 44 Thou hast his
glory made also to cease at all to be â—nd to the ground likewise his Thron is now cast down by thee verse 45 Thou al 's hast shortned of his youth the dayes him to defame â—hou in thine anger covred hast him with disgrace and shame verse 46 O LORD how long wilt thou thy self for ever hide in ire â—hall thy most fearfull wrath still burn like a consuming fire verse 47 Remember how my time is short that I on earth remain Yea wherefore is it so that thou hast made all men in vain verse 48 What man is he that liveth he ere and death shall never see Shall he from graves destroying hand his soul deliver free verse 49 Where are thy former kindnesses most loving now O LORD Which unto David in thy truth thou swarest in thy word verse 50 The great reproch remember Lord of thy servants most dear How I the mighty peoples blame do in my bosome bear verse 51 Wherewith thy foes reproched have wherewith O LORD anone They have his steps reproched that was thine annointed One. verse 52 The Lord who doth his own defend be blessed among men And that both now and evermore Amen yea and Amen PSALME XC O LORD that art most mercifull thou by thy saving grace Ev'n in all generations still hast been our dwelling place verse 2 Before the mountaines were broght forth ere thou the world didst frame From everlasting thou art GOD and still shalt be the same verse 3 Thou to destruction mortall man most easily dost turn And thus thou say'st ye frail and weak all sons of men return verse 4 For even a thousand yeers do last in thy presence and sight As yesterday when it is past and as a watch by night verse 5 Thou cariest them as with a flood as sleep they seeme to be Like grasse they in the morning are which growing up we see verse 6 At morning it doth flourish fair and groweth up alway It in the ev'ning is cut down and withreth all away verse 7 For we are by thine anger fierce consumed great and small And also by thy dreadfull wrath sore troubled are we all verse 8 In wrath now our iniquities before thee thou hast set In the light of thy countenance our sins that are secret verse 9 For all our dayes are past away in thy wrath manifold We spend our yeers that are most vain even as a tale that 's told verse 10 The days of all our yeers threescore and ten yeers are we see And if by reason of great strength ev'n fourscore yeers they be Yet is their strength both labour hard and sorrow great alway For it by death is soon cut off and we do flee away verse 11 Who knoweth the great power of thine anger most severe Even so is thy consuming wrath according to thy fear verse 12 Our painful dayes to number well so teach us by and by That unto wisdome we our hearts may timously apply verse 13 Return O Lord how long wilt thou to anger be so bent Concerning us thy servants poor now let it thee repent verse 14 O satisfie us early with thy mercies sweet alwaies That we all greatlie may rejoice and glad be all our dayes verse 15 Make us now glad according to the dayes that we have been By thee afflicted and the years wherein we ill have seen verse 16 Unto thy servant let thy work most clearly now appear And shew thy glory great unto their children that thee fear verse 17 And let the beautie of the LORD our GOD upon us be Establish our hands work on us yea stablish it surelie PSAL. XCI HE that doth in the secret place of the most High reside Under thâ—Almighties shadow shall most safely still abide verse 2 I will alwayes say of the LORD he my refuge is still My mighty fortresse and my God in him now trust I will verse 3 He surely from the foulers snare shall safe deliver thee And from the pestilence likewise most noisome as we see verse 4 He with his feathers cov'r thee shaâ— under his wings safelie Thou glade shalt trust his truth thâ— shâ—eâ— and buckler al 's shall be verse 5 Thou shalt in no way be afraid for terrour great by night Nor for the arrow that is shot by day while it is light verse 6 Nor yet the Pestilence that walks in darknesse every way Nor for the great destruction al 's that wasts at the noon day verse 7 A thousand at thy side shall fall and also thousands ten At thy right hand but not at all it shall come nigh thee then verse 8 With thine own eyes thou only shalâ— behold assuredlie And of the wicked also thou the just reward shalt see verse 9 Because thou thus hast made the Lord which is my sure refuge Ev'n the most high for evermore thy dwelling thee to lodge verse 10 There surelie shall no ev'll at all befall unto thee heer Nor yet shall any noisome plague come to thy dwelling neer verse 11 For ov'r thee to his Angels strong he shall give charge alwayes That they most safely keep thee still in all thy lawfull wayes verse 12 Up in their hands in dangers great they shall thee bear anone Lest thou should dash at unawars thy foot against a stone verse 13 Thou shalt upon the Lion tread and Asp as thou thinks meet The Lion young and Dragon thou shalt trample under feet verse 14 I him deliver will because he set his love on me Because that he hath known my Name I will him set on hie verse 15 When he shall call I 'l answer him with him also I will In trouble be I will him save and will him honour still verse 16 With long life as he shall desire I will him satisfie And will him my salvation sure shew that he it may see PSAL. XCII TO give thanks to the Lord it is a good and comely thing And to thy Name O thou most High due praises al 's to sing verse 2 Thy loving kindnes to shew foorth in the first morning light And to declare thy faithfulnesse with gladnesse every night verse 3 Upon an instrument most sweet of ten strings that rebound And on the Psaltrie and upon the Harp with solemne sound verse 4 For thou Lord now hast through thy work me glad made ev'ry way I in the great works of thy hands will still triumph alway verse 5 Thy thoghts are very deep how great are the works of thy hand verse 6 brutish man not knows nor doth a fool this understand verse 7 When wicked men even as the grasse spring in prosperitie When all those flourish more or lesse that work iniquitie It is that they for ever shall destroyed be therefore verse 8 But thou Lord always mighty art most high for ever more verse 9 For loe thine enmies Lord for loe thine enmies perish shall The workers of iniquitie they shall be scattred all verse 10 But thou my horn like th'Unicorns shall still exalt
on hie With fresh oil that most precious is I shall anointed be verse 11 Mine eye shall also my desire see of my foes in fear Of wicked men that ' gainst me rise mine ears my wish shall hear verse 12 The righteous like the pleasant palm anone well flourish shall He shall grow like in Lebanon a Cedar great and tall verse 13 Those that in the house of the Lord have planted their abode Shall flourish fair most constantly in the courts of our GOD. verse 14 They shall all still in their old age most pleasant fruit foorth bring In a most blessed state they shall be fat and flourishing verse 15 To shew that still the Lord remains upright to great and small He is my rock there 's not in him unrighteousnesse at all PSAL. XCIII THe Lord doth reigne he clothed is with Majestie throughout The LORD is cloth'd with strength wherwith he girds himself about The world also fast stablish'd is that it can not depart verse 2 Thy Throne of old is fix'd for thou from everlasting art verse 3 The floods have lifted up O LORD the flowing floods their voice Have lifted up the floods their waves lift up even with a noise verse 4 The Lord on high more mighty is then any noise can be Of waters great yea then the waves most mighty of the sea verse 5 Thy Testimonies of great worth are very sure together True holinesse thy house O LORD becometh still for ever PSAL. XCIV O LORD to whom vengeance for wroÌ„gs belongs ev'n as most due O GOD to whom vengeance belongs thy self now clearly shew verse 2 Lift up thy self thou of the earth the great Judge to regard Deservedly unto the proud now render a reward verse 3 Most mighty LORD how long shall they that alwayes wicked be How long shall wicked men on earth triumph so gloriouslie verse 4 How long shal those men utter thus and speak hard things so free And all those proudly boast themselves that worke iniquitie verse 5 LORD they in pieces break thy folk and heritage distresse verse 6 They widow and the stranger slay and murder fatherlesse verse 7 Yet they say in their foolishnesse the Lord this shall not see Nor by the God of Jacob shall it once regarded be verse 8 Among the people understand ye brutish and likewise Ye fools that nothing can conceive O when will ye be wise verse 9 Shall he that planted hath the ear not heare how all things be He that also the eye hath form'd shall he himself not see verse 10 He that the heathen doth chastise shall he not chastise now He that man knowledge teacheth still shall he himself not know verse 11 The Lord the thoghts of mortal man doth know most certainlie That in their greatest worth they are nothing but vanitie verse 12 Blest is the man O Lord whom thou by chastning keeps in aw And also clearely teachest him out of thy holie law verse 13 That thou may give him rest from dayeâ— of great adversitie Vntill that for the wicked man the pit deep digged be verse 14 For now the LORD his people aâ— will not cast off together Nor will hee his inheritance in wrath forsake for ever verse 15 But judgement unto righteousnesse returne most quicklie shall And those that be in heart upright shall it still follow all verse 16 Who up for me will rise against those that ill doers be Or who for me ' gainst those will stand that work iniquitie verse 17 Unlesse the Lord had been to mee a help as I have felt My soul with trouble vexed had almost in silence dwelt verse 18 When I said that my foot did slip thy mercy held me right verse 19 Thy comforts in my many thoughts do still my soul delight verse 20 Shall thus of great iniquitie the throne without all aw Have fellowship with thee Which frames mischief ev'n by a law verse 21 Themselves together gather they against the souls of men That righteous are and al 's the blood of innocent condemne verse 22 But yet the Lord still by his might is my defence alway And my GOD is the solid Rock of my refuge for ay verse 23 He on them their own sin shal bring and them cut off he shall In their own wickednesse our GOD shall cut them off in all PSAL. XCV O Come let us unto the Lord sing with a chearfull voice Let us to our salvations rock make a most joyfull noise verse 2 Let us before his presence come with thanksgiving and take Most pleasant Psalmes wherewith to him a joyfull noise now make verse 3 For GOD the Lord who mighty is a great GOD still doth prove And a great King in Majestie all other gods above verse 4 The places deep of all the earth are in his mighty hand The strength ev'n of the hills also is his in all the land verse 5 The spacious sea is his likewise and he it made in forme His hands al 's full of Majestie the dry land all did forme verse 6 O come now let us worship and bow down with one accord And let us humbly kneel before our maker even the Lord. verse 7 For he 's our God the people we are of his pasture choise And of his hand the sheep to day if yee will hear his voice verse 8 As in the provocation great not harden more or lesse Your hearts as in the day they him did tempt in wildernesse verse 9 When your ill fathers foolishly me tempted without aw And by their sins there did me prove my work they also saw verse 10 Long fourtie yeers I greeved was with this ill race alwayes And said this people ers in heart and have not known my wayes verse 11 To whom solemnly in my wrath I swearing did protest That they a wicked race should not once enter in my rest PSAL. XCVI O Sing a new song heartilie unto the Lord with mirth Unto the Lord most chearefully now sing yee all the earth verse 2 Unto the Lord sing chearefully and blesse his Name alway And his salvation constantly shew forth from day to day verse 3 His glory still declare among the heathen great and small His wonders also make ye known among the people all verse 4 For certainely the Lord is great and greatlie he for this â—s to be prais'd above all GODS he to be feared is For all the gods of Nations vaine still naughty idols prove But by his mighty hand the Lord hath made the heav'ns above verse 6 High honour and great Majestie are ever him before â—trength beautie in his Sanctuarie are ever still in store verse 7 Ye kindreds of the people all give to the LORD at length Unto the LORD that mighty is both glory give and strength verse 8 Unto the Lord the glorie give which to his Name is due And come ye now into his courts ane offring bring with you In the beautie of holinesse O the Lord still adore â—t all th'ind
wellers of the earth fear like wise him before verse 10 That GOD doth reigne to heathes say the world unmov'd shall be Establish'd and still righteouslie the people judge shall he verse 11 Let all the heav'ns above rejoice and let for evermore The earth be glad and let the sea with all its fulnesse roare verse 12 Let all the field be joyfull still and all that is therein Then shall the trees of all the wood for to rejoice begin verse 13 Before God for he comes he comes the earth to judge he shall Stil judge the world with righteousnes with truth his people all PSAL. XCVII THe Lord doth reigne let all the earth now to rejoice be made And let the multitude of Isles thereof be alwayes glad verse 2 With darknesse clouds are him about judgement and righteousnesse Are the fair habitation of his throne of holinesse verse 3 A kindled fire goes him before most brightly shining out And up his wicked enmies all it burneth round about verse 4 His lightnings which doe brightly shine the world both far and neer Inlightned all the earth them saw and trembled all for fear verse 5 At GODS presence the hills like wax did melt and fall anone Even at the presence of the LORD who rules the earth alone verse 6 The heav'ns above his righteousnes most clearly do declare And all the people of the earth still see his glory rare verse 7 Who graven images do serve let them confounded be And who themselves of idols boast all gods him worship ye verse 8 It Sion heard and was most glâ—â— and al 's with one accord Then Judahs daughters did rejoice for thy judgements O LORD verse 9 For thou Lord high above all aâ—â— that on the earth now be Thou art exalted far above all gods in majestie verse 10 Hate ill all ye that love the 〈◊〉 his Saints souls in the land He doth preserve he saveth them out of the wickeds hand verse 11 For all those that now righteouâ— is sown a joyfull light And gladnesse also for all those that are in heart upright verse 12 Ye righteous in the Lord rejoiâ— and give without delay Due thanks at the remembrance â— his Holinesse alway PSAL. XCVIII O Sing a new song to the LORD who hath done wonders great His right hand and his holy arme him victory did get verse 2 The Lord hath in his mercy great made his salvation known In heathens sight his righteousnesse he openlie hath shown verse 3 His mercy he remembred hath and truth to Israel The ends of all the earth have seen our GODS salvation well verse 4 O all the earth unto the LORD a joyfull noise now raise Yea make a loud noise and rejoice and gladly all sing praise verse 5 Unto the Lord now with the harp sing sweetly and rejoice Yea with the harp and also with a psalme in pleasant voice verse 6 With trumpets that most pleasant are the sound of cornets bring Together make a joyfull noise before the Lord the King verse 7 Al 's with its fulnesse let the sea most gladly roar and swell The world likewise that is most large and they that therein dwell verse 8 Now let the floods al clap their hands let hils rejoice together verse 9 Before the Lord for he doth come to judge the earth for ever With righteousnesse the world he shall judge as all men shall see And all the people of the earth also with equitie PSAL. XCIX THe Lord doth reign let trembling fear the people make to quake He sits between the Cherubims now let the earth all shake verse 2 The LORD is great in Zion and all people high above verse 3 Let them thy great dreadful name praise which doth holy prove verse 4 The kings strength also judgement loves thou setlest equity Thou right and judgement execut'st in Jacob constantly verse 5 The LORD our GOD with all your heart with praise exalt on hie And at his footstool worship low for holy still is He. verse 6 Moses and Aaron with his priests ' mongst them that on him call Was Samuel they call'd on the LORD and he them answerd all verse 7 He in the cloudy pillar spake to them they keeped have His testimonies and likewise the ord'nance he them gave verse 8 Thou answerdst them O Lord our God a God that them forgave Though thou of their inventions didst a heavy vengeance crave verse 9 With praise exalt the Lord our God and at his holy hill Him humbly worship for the LORD our GOD is holy still PSALME C. A Joyfull noise unto the LORD ye lands make more and more verse 2 Serve GOD with gladnes yea with songs his presence come before verse 3 Know that the Lord is God it 's he not we that made us heer We are his people and the sheep even of his pasture dear verse 4 With thanksgiving enter his gates and in his courts proclame His praise be thankfull unto him and blesse his holy Name verse 5 For GOD is good his mercy great is everlasting sure And to all generations al 's his truth doth still endure PSAL. Thy statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage PSAL. 34. vers 2. 〈◊〉 〈◊〉 〈◊〉 〈◊〉 〈◊〉 Printed at Glasgow by George Anderson 1646. To the Reader IN this second edition where it might be conveniently done I have made the paraphrase shoâ—ter but by reason that a work of this sort is for a people and children who are rude whereof many can not read but sing after the line is read I have shunned to be too concise lest brevitie should breed obscuritie and many should sing without understanding where two verses might be conveniently joined in four lines I have striven to do it but when I saw that either it made the verse harsh or obscure or that it behooved me to seeke other wordes then the words of the text I rather choised to make the paraphrase a little wider for to keep so far as I could the wordes of the text which is the most acurat version in my judgement that hitherto hath beene In some places obscure I have striven to make the paraphrase like a commentarie as for example PSAL. 76.4 Thou art more glorious and excellent then the mountaines of prey By those mountains of prey the Psalmist understands the enemies of Gods people that made the mountains their strength and from thence came to spoil them like those rebels and robbers that from the mountaines of Scotland have murdered and spoiled Gods Saints and made a prey of them but this is our comfort GOD is more glorious and excellent then the mountains of prey God at last will destroy them for PSAL. 95.4 The strength of the hills is his The Paraphrase Thou surely art more glorious and excellent alway Then the most mighty foes that be in mountains seeking prey Likewise PSAL. 87.7 As well singers as the players on instruments shal be there All my springs are in thee Those last words all my springs are in thee are difficle to many The Herbew is Col-majane bach that is Omnes fontes mei in te that is All my fountains or well-springs are in thee By those springs are understood the affections of the heart whence spring out the praises of the Lord as out of a fountaine The Paraphrase Both singers there and players al 's on instruments shall be All my best hearts affections as well-springs are in theee So have I done in diverse other places to make all clear and plain for the peoples use As for some hard passages where I found great diversitie of opinions of worthy learned men suspending my judgement did strive to keep the words of the text as PSAL. 110.3 In the beauties of holinesse from the womb of the morning thou hast the dew of thy youth Some take the beauties of holinesse to be the ornaments of the Sanctuary others referre them to the holy graces and vertues wherewithall the faithfull should bee beautified As for those words From the womb of the morning thou hast the dew of thy youth they are very hard Some by the womb of the morning understand the essence of the God-head that was early in the morning before the world was made denoting the eternall generation of Christ This seemes to have beene the minde of the Septuagint whose wordes are those Of the wombe before the morning Starre begat I thee Some take those words to be spoken of Christs man-hood who had the dew of his birth of the obscure wombe of the Virgin Some which I like best interpret this of Christs Church which is said From the wombe of the morning to have the dew of her youth that is as the dew in the morning aire is bred as in a a womb and falleth downe in many drops so the children of God the elected Ones shall in the Church be borne in great number by thee preaching of the Gospell Others give other interpretations because of such a diversitie of opinions I would not change a word of the text The Paraphrase In beauties of great holinesse with a most pleasant shew From the fair mornings womb thou hast evâ—n of thy youth the dew Likewise there is a great diversitie of opinions concerning those words PSAL. 24.6 This is the generation of them that seek him that seek thy face O Jacob.
