31._o in_o which_o former_a sense_n if_o it_o be_v only_o allow_v the_o church_n infallibility_n in_o guide_a christian_n will_v be_v confine_v only_o to_o two_o or_o three_o point_n and_o those_o scarce_o by_o any_o at_o all_o doubted-of_a or_o dispute_v in_o this_o latter_a sense_n therefore_o both_o because_o of_o our_o saviour_n promise_n and_o the_o evidence_n of_o tradition_n it_o must_v be_v say_v that_o the_o church_n can_v be_v mistake_v in_o defect_n but_o only_o if_o at_o all_o in_o the_o excess_n not_o in_o substract_v from_o christian_n any_o part_n of_o such_o necessary_a faith_n or_o duty_n but_o perhaps_o in_o superad_v thereto_o something_o as_o necessary_a which_o be_v not_o 2._o and_o here_o also_o second_o concern_v such_o excess_n i_o think_v you_o 5._o will_v grant_v i_o that_o it_o will_v be_v hard_a for_o a_o private_a man_n to_o judge_v that_o any_o particular_a point_n decide_v by_o the_o church_n be_v not_o some_o way_n or_o other_o necessary_a to_o be_v state_v know_v and_o believe_v by_o reason_n of_o some_o ill_a influence_n which_o the_o contradictory_n thereof_o may_v by_o some_o consequence_n at_o least_o have_v upon_o our_o other_o faith_n assurance_n or_o infallibility_n in_o it_o if_o plenary_a yet_o 1._o tradition_n of_o some_o point_n be_v great_a and_o of_o some_o other_o lesser_a and_o more_o obscure_a this_o tradition_n seem_v not_o always_o in_o all_o point_n to_o be_v such_o as_o to_o amount_v to_o that_o certainty_n some_o of_o late_o pretend_v 2_o by_o this_o the_o church_n can_v only_o know_v her_o infallibility_n in_o point_n traditionary_a but_o then_o some_o determination_n of_o council_n and_o that_o under_o a_o anathema_n will_v be_v find_v to_o be_v not_o of_o doctrine_n clear_o traditional_a and_o such_o as_o have_v be_v the_o common_a tenant_n of_o the_o former_a church_n but_o of_o new_a emergent_a
i_o answer_v that_o from_o this_o judgement_n of_o such_o a_o church_n so_o often_o as_o it_o be_v suspect_v by_o i_o i_o will_v not_o retreat_v to_o my_o private_a judgement_n but_o i_o will_v appeal_v to_o a_o more_o general_a judgement_n of_o the_o present_a church_n which_o judgement_n i_o can_v either_o have_v conjunctim_fw-la or_o divisim_fw-la as_o it_o be_v ordinary_o procure_v in_o ancient_a time_n and_o by_o the_o reform_a opinion_n i_o shall_v be_v secure_a if_o i_o part_v not_o from_o the_o present_a church_n for_o in_o fundamental_o she_o shall_v in_o no_o age_n err_v but_o hold_v forth_o to_o i_o visible_o the_o truth_n and_o if_o this_o error_n be_v in_o nonfundamentals_a it_o amount_v not_o as_o the_o reform_a say_v to_o a_o heresy_n therefore_o will_v i_o still_o cleave_v to_o she_o i._n e._n the_o present_a church_n and_o the_o supreme_a authority_n i_o can_v find_v therein_o neither_o will_v i_o embrace_v any_o sense_n put_v upon_o scripture_n or_o father_n against_o she_o because_o she_o can_v be_v at_o least_o in_o point_n of_o great_a consequence_n opposite_a to_o they_o and_o if_o that_o religion_n as_o it_o may_v have_v be_v have_v be_v convey_v to_o our_o day_n by_o unwritten_a tradition_n and_o only_o so_o as_o the_o apostle_n direct_v in_o 2_o tim._n 2._o 2_o and_o that_o we_o have_v have_v neither_o new_a testament-scripture_n nor_o write_n of_o father_n then_o i_o must_v have_v rely_v only_o on_o the_o guidance_n of_o the_o present_a church_n neither_o need_v she_o for_o this_o to_o have_v be_v make_v more_o infallible_a than_o now_o she_o be_v and_o doubtless_o my_o faith_n shall_v have_v be_v nevertheless_o sufficient_o ground_v i._n e._n on_o the_o word_n of_o god_n still_o oral_o deliver_v by_o she_o neither_o can_v if_o the_o church_n judgement_n be_v not_o neither_o be_v their_o own_o infallible_a for_o which_o they_o desert_n the_o church_n but_o though_o it_o be_v most_o true_a that_o true_a faith_n be_v always_o ground_v on_o the_o word_n of_o god_n which_o word_n of_o god_n be_v infallible_a yet_o be_v it_o not_o necessary_a that_o every_o one_o who_o have_v true_a faith_n do_v know_v that_o it_o be_v infallible_a or_o be_v infallible_o certain_a of_o it_o for_o many_o have_v save_v faith_n doubtless_o that_o learn_v this_o word_n of_o god_n only_o from_o a_o fallible_a man_n suppose_v from_o there_o may_v be_v a_o large_a unity_n of_o faith_n than_o only_o in_o fundamental_o unless_o all_o point_n of_o faith_n be_v fundamental_a and_o if_o so_o than_o church_n that_o differ_v in_o any_o point_n of_o faith_n differ_v in_o fundamental_o 3ly_a if_o there_o may_v be_v a_o large_a unity_n then_o spiritual_a guide_n doubtless_o be_v set_v over_o we_o to_o build_v we_o up_o in_o the_o unity_n also_o of_o this_o faith_n and_o not_o only_o of_o fundamental_o see_v heb._n 5._o 11._o etc._n etc._n 6._o 1._o and_o therefore_o why_o eph._n 4._o 11._o compare_v with_o 13._o shall_v be_v accord_v but_o other_o beneficial_a truth_n which_o union_n how_o can_v so_o many_o judgement_n independent_a of_o one_o another_o attain_v but_o by_o all_o of_o they_o retain_v the_o same_o doctrine_n of_o their_o pastor_n or_o pastor_n 4_o if_o these_o point_n wherein_o the_o reform_v recede_v from_o the_o authority_n of_o superior_a council_n be_v not_o very_o necessary_a though_o
