man_n may_v presume_v to_o institute_v a_o ordinance_n that_o be_v of_o the_o same_o nature_n reason_n and_o intent_n with_o the_o sacrament_n of_o divine_a institution_n though_o it_o be_v unlawful_a and_o of_o no_o validity_n even_o as_o other_o divine_a worship_n may_v be_v invent_v by_o man_n which_o be_v not_o right_v nor_o effectual_a as_o touch_v the_o efficacy_n and_o profitableness_n of_o a_o ordinance_n here_o distinguish_v between_o a_o aptitude_n to_o profit_n in_o case_n of_o god_n approba_fw-la ion_n and_o a_o actual_a profitableness_n no_o doubt_n but_o many_o thing_n not_o institute_v of_o god_n have_v a_o aptitude_n to_o be_v useful_a but_o it_o follow_v not_o that_o they_o will_v be_v useful_a if_o ordain_v by_o man_n for_o the_o actual_a usefulness_n come_v not_o from_o the_o aptitude_n of_o the_o thing_n but_o from_o god_n institution_n but_o that_o which_o be_v contrary_a to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n be_v not_o bless_v to_o supernatural_a end_n yea_o that_o which_o be_v not_o sanctify_v of_o god_n thereunto_o be_v not_o so_o bless_v d._n though_o god_n can_v be_v oblige_v by_o a_o seal_n only_o of_o his_o own_o annex_v to_o his_o covenant_n yet_o it_o be_v too_o possible_a for_o mâ—n_z to_o presume_v so_o far_o as_o to_o institute_v that_o whereby_o they_o fancy_n god_n as_o seal_v and_o convey_v to_o they_o his_o grace_n and_o indeed_o that_o which_o can_v mean_v no_o less_o moreover_o in_o a_o sacrament_n of_o the_o covenant_n as_o grace_v on_o god_n part_n be_v seâ—led_v so_o self-dedication_n on_o man_n part_n anâ—â—n_a ordinance_n of_o man_n devise_v that_o seal_v self-dedication_n to_o god_n upon_o the_o term_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n be_v at_o least_o the_o moiety_n of_o a_o sacrament_n 2._o no_o new_a integral_a part_n of_o divine_a worship_n without_o which_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n be_v suppose_v not_o entire_a but_o deficient_a in_o part_n may_v be_v invent_v of_o man_n for_o it_o be_v to_o invent_v a_o new_a part_n of_o the_o christian_a religion_n and_o to_o augment_v it_o beyond_o the_o state_n thereof_o as_o settle_v by_o the_o author_n and_o founder_n of_o it_o here_o note_n that_o the_o accidental_a part_n of_o religion_n be_v vary_v or_o augment_v or_o diminish_v make_v no_o variation_n addition_n or_o diminution_n in_o the_o religion_n no_o more_o than_o alteration_n in_o clothes_n make_v a_o alteration_n in_o the_o man_n 3._o no_o ordinance_n that_o be_v of_o universal_a and_o perpetual_a use_n to_o the_o church_n of_o god_n if_o it_o be_v at_o all_o of_o use_n so_o that_o it_o may_v in_o no_o place_n in_o no_o age_n be_v omit_v may_v be_v devise_v of_o man_n for_o the_o devise_v of_o such_o a_o ordinance_n suppose_v a_o defect_n in_o the_o divine_a ordinance_n of_o universal_a and_o perpetual_a use_n to_o be_v make_v up_o by_o add_v other_o ordinance_n by_o way_n of_o supplement_n and_o it_o be_v but_o a_o presume_v that_o those_o other_o be_v requisite_a when_o they_o be_v not_o also_o if_o the_o universal_a lawgiver_n have_v reserve_v any_o thing_n to_o his_o own_o power_n it_o can_v be_v no_o less_o than_o the_o make_n of_o such_o law_n or_o ordinance_n as_o be_v of_o universal_a and_o perpetual_a use_n and_o sure_o that_o he_o have_v reserve_v something_o to_o himself_o few_o among_o we_o will_v gainsay_v howbeit_o a_o arbitrary_a and_o temporary_a use_n of_o a_o religious_a observance_n by_o particular_a man_n for_o such_o end_n as_o equal_o concern_v all_o christian_n may_v not_o be_v unlawful_a upon_o this_o account_n because_o therein_o christ_n legislative_a power_n be_v not_o encroach_v upon_o it_o be_v not_o make_v a_o law_n to_o the_o church_n but_o only_o a_o private_a arbitrary_a observation_n §_o 5._o what_o thing_n of_o or_o belong_v to_o divine_a worship_n may_v be_v devise_v or_o institute_v by_o man_n the_o thing_n set_v down_o under_o the_o former_a head_n as_o forbid_v be_v such_o new_a ordinance_n of_o worship_n as_o be_v coordinate_a with_o the_o divine_a ordinance_n and_o be_v in_o proper_a sense_n addition_n pretend_v or_o in_o themselves_o express_v the_o same_o nature_n reason_n end_n and_o use_v that_o the_o divine_a ordinance_n have_v and_o consequent_o import_v a_o insufficiency_n in_o they_o but_o there_o be_v such_o institution_n of_o man_n in_o subordination_n to_o the_o divine_a institution_n as_o serve_v for_o the_o more_o convenient_a modify_n and_o order_v of_o the_o same_o and_o they_o be_v not_o proper_a addition_n because_o they_o be_v not_o of_o the_o same_o nature_n and_o use_n and_o these_o be_v unlawful_a all_o such_o mode_n of_o a_o duty_n as_o be_v necessary_a in_o genere_fw-la and_o not_o determine_v in_o specie_fw-la as_o when_o there_o must_v be_v a_o practice_n one_o way_n or_o other_o but_o whether_o this_o way_n or_o that_o way_n be_v not_o determine_v of_o god_n be_v leave_v free_a to_o humane_a determination_n this_o humane_a determination_n must_v be_v regulate_v by_o the_o general_a rule_n of_o god_n word_n of_o which_o there_o be_v these_o two_o chief_a first_o that_o all_o determination_n be_v make_v for_o edification_n and_o not_o for_o destruction_n 2_o that_o all_o thing_n be_v do_v decent_o and_o in_o order_n these_o two_o rule_n we_o find_v express_o in_o scripture_n and_o they_o be_v also_o of_o the_o law_n
