there_o be_v any_o god_n he_o must_v needs_o be_v delight_v in_o goodness_n he_o must_v needs_o have_v a_o certain_a inclination_n to_o that_o which_o be_v holy_a and_o right_a and_o if_o so_o than_o he_o must_v needs_o hate_v that_o that_o be_v evil_a if_o he_o love_v light_a he_o must_v needs_o hate_v darkness_n if_o he_o love_v life_n he_o must_v needs_o hate_v death_n and_o indeed_o love_v of_o goodness_n proceed_v from_o hatred_n of_o evil_a and_o hatred_n of_o evil_n arise_v from_o love_n of_o goodness_n and_o if_o it_o be_v so_o why_o shall_v not_o hatred_n be_v active_a as_o well_o as_o love_v therefore_o it_o be_v certain_a there_o shall_v wrath_n come_v against_o all_o ungodliness_n and_o unrighteousness_n of_o man_n observable_a second_o what_o kind_n of_o wrath_n be_v this_o in_o this_o wrath_n you_o shall_v observe_v three_o thing_n first_o there_o be_v a_o treasure_n of_o this_o wrath_n rom._n 2.5_o treasure_n thou_o according_a to_o the_o hardness_n of_o thy_o heart_n that_o can_v repent_v treasure_v up_o wrath_n now_o in_o a_o treasure_n you_o shall_v find_v three_o thing_n first_o it_o be_v a_o heap_n and_o there_o be_v still_o a_o addition_n thereto_o a_o man_n grow_v rich_a and_o rich_a save_v shilling_n and_o penny_n and_o they_o still_o add_v to_o the_o heap_n so_o god_n add_v to_o the_o heap_n of_o his_o wrath_n as_o man_n add_v sin_n he_o add_v drop_n to_o his_o viol_n and_o when_o the_o measure_n of_o our_o sin_n be_v full_a than_o the_o viol_n of_o his_o wrath_n be_v full_a it_o be_v still_o increase_v let_v not_o a_o man_n think_v that_o when_o he_o be_v over_o the_o shoe_n he_o can_v go_v no_o further_o for_o wrath_n receive_v addition_n second_o treasure_n be_v close_o and_o cover_v there_o be_v no_o use_n of_o they_o for_o the_o present_a it_o be_v therefore_o say_v wrath_n be_v ●owne_n for_o the_o wicked_a as_o joy_n be_v sow_v for_o the_o righteous_a it_o lie_v under_o the_o ground_n for_o a_o time_n therefore_o do_v not_o say_v long-suffering_a the_o vessel_n of_o wrath_n fit_v to_o destruction_n that_o be_v he_o will_v show_v his_o mighty_a power_n in_o punish_v they_o as_o he_o show_v the_o great_a riches_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o mercy_n on_o the_o saint_n god_n be_v know_v by_o execute_v judgement_n and_o the_o greatness_n of_o god_n be_v know_v by_o the_o greatness_n of_o the_o punishment_n inflict_v and_o you_o shall_v know_v he_o to_o be_v a_o almighty_a god_n aswell_o in_o punishment_n as_o in_o mercy_n there_o be_v a_o transcendent_a power_n exercise_v in_o one_o aswell_o as_o in_o the_o other_o therefore_o it_o be_v say_v who_o know_v the_o power_n of_o his_o wrath_n you_o know_v the_o wrath_n of_o a_o king_n be_v great_a because_o he_o be_v powerful_a and_o how_o much_o the_o power_n of_o god_n exceed_v the_o power_n of_o a_o king_n so_o much_o his_o wrath_n exceed_v the_o wrath_n of_o a_o king_n it_o be_v therefore_o compare_v to_o a_o consume_a fire_n that_o devour_v all_o to_o the_o wind_n that_o break_v the_o rock_n in_o sunder_o and_o to_o a_o overflow_a river_n that_o carry_v all_o away_o with_o it_o consider_v god_n therefore_o in_o the_o greatness_n of_o his_o power_n for_o such_o be_v he_o in_o his_o wrath_n it_o three_o consider_v the_o suddenness_n of_o it_o it_o come_v sudden_o on_o man_n and_o that_o make_v it_o the_o more_o fearful_a if_o god_n give_v warning_n it_o be_v another_o case_n but_o he_o surprise_v man_n before_o they_o be_v aware_a it_o be_v true_a that_o damnation_n sleep_v not_o but_o travel_n as_o fast_o as_o thyself_o and_o will_v meet_v therefore_o since_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n shall_v in_o such_o a_o manner_n be_v reveal_v against_o such_o as_o withhold_v the_o truth_n in_o unrighteousness_n you_o need_v no_o other_o argument_n to_o show_v that_o the_o sin_n be_v great_a again_o one_o evidence_n more_o be_v in_o this_o very_a chapter_n that_o be_v from_o the_o kind_n of_o punishment_n for_o punishment_n you_o know_v where_o the_o judge_n be_v just_a be_v according_a to_o the_o measure_n of_o the_o sin_n now_o mark_v god_n punish_v this_o with_o give_v they_o up_o to_o a_o reprobate_a sense_n for_o this_o cause_n say_v the_o apostle_n rom._n 1.26_o god_n give_v they_o up_o unto_o vile_a affection_n and_o afterward_o in_o the_o eight_o and_o twenty_o verse_n as_o they_o regard_v not_o to_o know_v god_n even_o so_o or_o therefore_o god_n deliver_v they_o up_o to_o a_o reprobate_a mind_n that_o be_v a_o mind_n without_o knowledge_n a_o injudicious_a mind_n that_o can_v judge_v of_o thing_n and_o look_v in_o all_o the_o book_n of_o god_n among_o all_o the_o army_n of_o sorrow_n there_o be_v not_o any_o like_o this_o to_o be_v give_v up_o to_o vile_a affection_n to_o lust_n to_o a_o injudicious_a mind_n in_o matter_n of_o god_n and_o thing_n belong_v to_o their_o salvation_n this_o punishment_n show_v the_o greatness_n of_o the_o sin_n but_o man_n slight_a this_o as_o it_o be_v the_o great_a judgement_n so_o it_o be_v the_o least_o feel_v man_n lie_v at_o rest_n they_o be_v cast_v into_o a_o dead_a sleep_n but_o it_o be_v like_o the_o sleep_n of_o they_o that_o have_v crazy_a brain_n they_o wake_v in_o a_o frenzy_n so_o these_o shall_v wake_v in_o a_o horrible_a astonishment_n their_o sleep_n be_v such_o a_o calm_a as_o will_v end_v in_o a_o tempest_n and_o such_o a_o tempest_n as_o shall_v never_o be_v blow_v over_o therefore_o let_v no_o man_n bless_v himself_o in_o this_o i_o feel_v none_o of_o these_o thing_n for_o thou_o have_v the_o great_a judgement_n on_o thou_o when_o thou_o which_o we_o pitch_v on_o these_o word_n and_o that_o be_v to_o humble_v we_o to_o learn_v to_o know_v ourselves_o to_o know_v in_o what_o condition_n we_o be_v for_o the_o truth_n be_v reveal_v to_o we_o but_o we_o withhold_v it_o in_o unrighteousness_n this_o truth_n that_o shall_v rule_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n that_o shall_v be_v as_o the_o supreme_a governor_n in_o the_o soul_n of_o which_o it_o may_v be_v say_v as_o it_o be_v say_v of_o the_o peace_n of_o god_n let_v it_o rule_v in_o your_o soul_n that_o where_o by_o man_n shall_v be_v act_v be_v by_o man_n imprison_v therefore_o rom._n 2.9_o the_o apostle_n denounce_v tribulation_n and_o anguish_n upon_o every_o one_o that_o disobeye_n the_o truth_n intimate_v that_o truth_n be_v our_o king_n that_o shall_v govern_v and_o rule_v in_o our_o heart_n now_o when_o man_n disobey_v it_o nay_o go_v further_o imprison_v this_o truth_n it_o be_v as_o when_o man_n imprison_v their_o lawful_a king_n or_o servant_n their_o master_n and_o they_o run_v riot_n and_o at_o liberty_n in_o the_o mean_a time_n and_o this_o be_v our_o case_n we_o do_v with_o it_o as_o child_n do_v with_o their_o master_n we_o desire_v to_o be_v rid_v of_o it_o because_o it_o watch_v over_o we_o and_o so_o we_o grow_v enemy_n to_o it_o and_o this_o be_v no_o small_a sin_n for_o if_o we_o consider_v whence_o this_o come_v who_o put_v it_o into_o our_o heart_n it_o will_v appear_v heinous_a by_o the_o law_n of_o man_n it_o be_v death_n to_o kill_v child_n that_o be_v beget_v by_o man_n but_o this_o truth_n be_v beget_v by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n it_o be_v put_v in_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o to_o extinguish_v this_o truth_n not_o to_o suffer_v it_o to_o live_v not_o to_o nourish_v it_o not_o to_o bring_v it_o forth_o be_v the_o great_a sin_n of_o all_o even_o the_o heathen_a shall_v rise_v in_o judgement_n against_o christian_n for_o this_o who_o maintain_v the_o vestal_a fire_n because_o they_o conceive_v it_o to_o come_v from_o heaven_n they_o for_o that_o cause_n never_o suffer_v it_o to_o go_v out_o but_o this_o truth_n be_v a_o fire_n which_o come_v from_o heaven_n a_o spark_n put_v into_o the_o breast_n of_o man_n to_o guide_v their_o foot_n into_o the_o way_n of_o peace_n when_o man_n shall_v extinguish_v this_o truth_n let_v it_o go_v out_o and_o not_o maintain_v it_o the_o heathen_a shall_v rise_v against_o they_o in_o judgement_n as_o the_o man_n of_o niniveh_n shall_v rise_v up_o against_o the_o man_n of_o that_o generation_n among_o who_o christ_n live_v we_o be_v wont_a to_o take_v care_n of_o precious_a thing_n consider_v the_o preciousness_n of_o this_o truth_n what_o be_v precious_a we_o will_v not_o be_v willing_a to_o destroy_v as_o the_o prophet_n say_v of_o the_o bunch_n of_o grape_n destroy_v it_o not_o for_o there_o be_v a_o blessing_n in_o it_o and_o what_o do_v you_o think_v of_o this_o truth_n be_v it_o not_o a_o precious_a thing_n yea_o it_o be_v the_o chief_a thing_n in_o a_o man_n in_o a_o ship_n a_o wise_a man_n will_v have_v a_o eye_n to_o the_o rudder_n for_o that_o turn_v all_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o body_n of_o the_o ship_n of_o all_o thing_n in_o ourselves_o we_o look_v to_o our_o eye_n the_o guide_n of_o the_o body_n so_o we_o shall_v learn_v to_o watch_v and_o be_v tender_a over_o this_o truth_n as_o over_o our_o eye_n for_o the_o one_o be_v the_o light_n but_o of_o this_o life_n the_o other_o be_v the_o light_n of_o the_o soul_n to_o eternal_a life_n in_o micah_n 3.5_o it_o be_v threaten_v as_o a_o great_a judgement_n when_o god_n shall_v turn_v their_o vision_n into_o night_n and_o their_o divination_n into_o darkness_n when_o the_o sun_n shall_v go_v down_o on_o their_o prophet_n and_o the_o day_n shall_v be_v dark_a on_o they_o and_o will_v you_o bring_v this_o judgement_n on_o yourselves_o they_o that_o be_v guilty_a of_o this_o that_o have_v not_o use_v this_o truth_n but_o imprison_v it_o and_o labour_v as_o much_o as_o they_o can_v to_o cause_v the_o sun_n to_o go_v down_o and_o rise_v no_o more_o to_o turn_v the_o day_n into_o night_n let_v they_o consider_v what_o the_o sin_n be_v when_o you_o read_v the_o story_n of_o the_o king_n and_o hear_v they_o say_v to_o the_o prophet_n prophesy_v not_o imprison_v they_o as_o ahab_n do_v micaiah_n and_o slay_v they_o as_o joash_n do_v zecharial_a you_o will_v little_o think_v you_o be_v guilty_a of_o the_o same_o sin_n but_o when_o this_o truth_n come_v as_o a_o prophet_n from_o god_n and_o tell_v you_o such_o and_o such_o thing_n ought_v to_o be_v do_v and_o such_o and_o such_o evil_n ought_v to_o be_v abstain_v from_o and_o you_o shall_v desire_v it_o to_o be_v silent_a and_o shall_v say_v prophesy_v not_o when_o you_o shall_v not_o suffer_v it_o to_o speak_v free_o i_o say_v your_o sin_n shall_v be_v as_o great_a as_o they_o therefore_o learn_v to_o consider_v of_o it_o and_o be_v humble_v for_o it_o man_n be_v wont_a to_o folly_n in_o man_n when_o they_o can_v deny_v the_o fact_n they_o slight_a the_o fault_n and_o will_v not_o acknowledge_v it_o it_o be_v adam_n fault_n when_o god_n come_v towards_o he_o he_o flee_v and_o hide_v his_o sin_n and_o it_o be_v the_o fault_n of_o all_o adam_n posterity_n but_o let_v man_n know_v that_o the_o quite_o contrary_a way_n be_v the_o way_n to_o salvation_n it_o be_v not_o with_o god_n as_o it_o be_v with_o man_n among_o who_o confession_n make_v way_n for_o condemnation_n for_o with_o god_n confession_n be_v the_o way_n to_o salvation_n therefore_o be_v not_o unwilling_a to_o examine_v yourselves_o consider_v how_o much_o you_o have_v know_v what_o truth_n have_v be_v reveal_v to_o you_o do_v this_o with_o one_o eye_n with_o another_o eye_n look_v on_o your_o life_n and_o see_v how_o short_a your_o practice_n have_v be_v of_o your_o knowledge_n come_v willing_o and_o if_o you_o confess_v you_o shall_v be_v forgive_v this_o will_v drive_v you_o out_o of_o yourselves_o it_o will_v be_v your_o schoolmaster_n to_o bring_v you_o to_o christ._n they_o that_o carry_v this_o

the_o prophet_n prophesy_v not_o but_o be_v willing_a to_o be_v inform_v to_o the_o full_a yet_o when_o he_o have_v it_o he_o act_v it_o not_o he_o do_v not_o exercise_n nor_o practise_v this_o truth_n that_o be_v another_o degree_n of_o withhold_a it_o and_o this_o be_v a_o frequent_a case_n for_o a_o man_n may_v know_v and_o be_v inform_v in_o all_o truth_n yet_o they_o may_v lie_v there_o unused_a and_o unact_v they_o may_v lie_v there_o idle_a now_o when_o a_o man_n be_v not_o willing_a to_o practise_v the_o mean_n by_o which_o these_o truth_n be_v use_v he_o do_v proper_o withhold_v the_o truth_n in_o unrighteousness_n as_o for_o example_n the_o way_n to_o act_v the_o truth_n we_o have_v to_o stir_v they_o up_o to_o blow_v up_o these_o coal_n to_o bring_v they_o to_o present_a memory_n so_o as_o they_o may_v be_v bring_v to_o present_a practice_n be_v the_o communion_n of_o saint_n the_o company_n of_o holy_a man_n that_o when_o a_o man_n have_v forget_v godly_a company_n may_v bring_v to_o mind_n again_o so_o frequent_a read_n and_o hear_v these_o do_v act_v the_o truth_n for_o the_o end_n of_o our_o ministry_n be_v not_o only_o to_o make_v you_o to_o know_v these_o thing_n but_o to_o bring_v those_o thing_n to_o mind_n which_o you_o have_v forget_v if_o we_o will_v not_o use_v but_o neglect_v the_o mean_n of_o act_v the_o truth_n than_o we_o withhold_v it_o so_o for_o private_a prayer_n whereas_o a_o man_n shall_v bring_v his_o heart_n to_o god_n every_o day_n shall_v do_v it_o thorough_o shall_v call_v himself_o to_o a_o reckon_n for_o every_o sin_n for_o all_o sort_n of_o omission_n or_o of_o commission_n this_o be_v a_o mean_n to_o act_v this_o truth_n this_o good_a purpose_n and_o inclination_n this_o spark_n which_o god_n have_v kindle_v be_v it_o not_o for_o this_o they_o will_v be_v rake_v up_o in_o the_o ash_n again_o now_o perform_v prayer_n in_o a_o devout_a and_o fervent_a manner_n do_v lve_v they_o whereas_o to_o do_v thing_n for_o fashion_n or_o to_o satisfy_v natural_a conscience_n and_o not_o thorough_o be_v to_o neglect_v they_o so_o that_o when_o a_o man_n do_v not_o practice_n not_o exercise_v the_o truth_n he_o have_v as_o the_o very_a exercise_n quicken_v they_o again_o when_o he_o do_v neglect_v any_o of_o the_o mean_n by_o which_o these_o coal_n be_v blow_v up_o by_o which_o these_o truth_n be_v to_o be_v stir_v up_o he_o proper_o imprison_v the_o truth_n let_v no_o man_n say_v object_n but_o when_o a_o man_n imprison_v a_o thing_n he_o bar_v the_o door_n but_o to_o let_v the_o truth_n lie_n be_v a_o matter_n of_o negligence_n how_o be_v it_o then_o a_o imprison_n yes_o answ._n it_o be_v a_o imprison_a a_o surprise_v of_o it_o as_o it_o be_v with_o fire_n if_o it_o have_v not_o a_o vent_n though_o you_o cast_v no_o water_n upon_o it_o yet_o you_o put_v it_o out_o as_o on_o the_o contrary_a side_n if_o you_o give_v it_o vent_v you_o increase_v it_o so_o you_o be_v guilty_a in_o this_o case_n of_o murder_v the_o truth_n of_o put_v it_o out_o as_o in_o any_o art_n that_o a_o man_n learn_v if_o he_o let_v his_o art_n or_o trade_n lie_v still_o and_o unused_a he_o forget_v it_o so_o these_o truth_n be_v extinguish_v when_o a_o man_n be_v not_o diligent_a in_o use_v all_o mean_n of_o grace_n the_o receive_n of_o the_o sacrament_n be_v a_o mean_n to_o quicken_v and_o act_n these_o truth_n fast_v and_o prayer_n when_o god_n call_v for_o it_o be_v a_o mean_n to_o quicken_v they_o go_v through_o all_o mean_n which_o god_n have_v ordain_v to_o put_v we_o in_o mind_n of_o these_o truth_n and_o so_o far_o as_o you_o neglect_v the_o mean_n so_o far_o you_o detain_v these_o truth_n in_o unrighteousness_n the_o end_n of_o the_o seven_o sermon_n certain_a sermon_n upon_o humiliation_n the_o eight_o sermon_n roman_n 1.19_o 20._o forasmuch_o as_o that_o which_o may_v be_v know_v of_o god_n be_v manifest_a in_o they_o for_o god_n have_v show_v it_o unto_o they_o for_o the_o invisible_a thing_n of_o he_o that_o be_v his_o eternal_a power_n and_o godhead_n be_v clear_o see_v by_o the_o creation_n of_o the_o world_n be_v consider_v in_o his_o work_n to_o the_o intent_n that_o they_o shall_v be_v without_o excuse_n the_o four_o case_n wherein_o we_o withhold_v this_o truth_n in_o unrighteousness_n 4._o it_o and_o imprison_v it_o be_v when_o we_o direct_o suppress_v not_o act_v it_o neglect_v the_o mean_n but_o do_v purposely_o suppress_v it_o way_n as_o for_o example_n when_o god_n shall_v kindle_v a_o good_a spark_n in_o any_o man_n heart_n and_o put_v in_o a_o good_a motion_n not_o only_o reveal_v but_o stir_v up_o some_o truth_n which_o concern_v his_o salvation_n and_o he_o do_v endeavour_v to_o put_v it_o out_o to_o quench_v it_o and_o labour_n to_o lay_v that_o truth_n asleep_a and_o be_v glad_a when_o by_o any_o mean_n he_o can_v forget_v it_o lest_o it_o shall_v trouble_v he_o this_o be_v a_o great_a suppessing_n of_o the_o truth_n and_o by_o this_o we_o not_o only_o suppress_v this_o truth_n but_o we_o do_v harden_v our_o own_o heart_n exceed_o as_o in_o iron_n when_o we_o quench_v it_o we_o do_v not_o only_o put_v out_o the_o fire_n but_o harden_v the_o iron_n so_o when_o god_n stir_v up_o many_o truth_n as_o it_o be_v in_o hear_v the_o word_n in_o apprehension_n of_o death_n in_o suffer_v some_o calamity_n in_o a_o good_a mood_n the_o put_v out_o of_o these_o do_v harden_v the_o heart_n therefore_o when_o a_o man_n shall_v have_v good_a purpose_n and_o think_v with_o himself_o i_o will_v now_o begin_v to_o be_v another_o
