II. 1 The meat-offering of flour with oyl and incense 4 either baken in the oven 5 or on a plate 7 or in a frying-pan 12 or of the first-fruits in the ear 13 The salt of the meat-offering ANd when any will offer a meat-offering unto the LORD his offering shall be of fine flour and he shall pour oyl upon it and put frankincense thereon 2 And he shall bring it to Aarons sons the priests and he shall take thereout his handful of the flour thereof and of the oyl thereof with all the frankincense thereof and the priest shall burn the memorial of it upon the altar to be an offering made by fire of a sweet savour unto the LORD 3 And * Ecclus 7.31 the remnant of the meat offering shall be Aarons and his sons it is a thing most holy of the offerings of the LORD made by fire 4 ¶ And if thou bring an oblation of a meat-offering baken in the oven it shall be unleavened cakes of fine flour mingled with oyl or unleavened waters anointed with oyl 5 ¶ And if thy oblation be a meat-offering baken ‖ Or on a flat plate or slite in a pan it shall be of fine flour unleavened mingled with oyl 6 Thou shalt part it in pieces pour oyl thereon it is a meat-offering 7 ¶ And if thy oblation be a meat-offering baken in the frying-pan it shall be made of fine flour with oyl 8 And thou shalt bring the meat offering that is made of these things unto the LORD and when it is presented unto the priest he shall bring it unto the altar 9 And the priest shall take from the meat-offering * Pet. 2. a memorial thereof and shall burn it upon the altar it is an * Exod. 29.18 offering made by fire of a sweet savour unto the LORD 10 And that which is lest of the meat-offering shall be Aarons and his sons it is a thing most holy of the offerings of the LORD made by fire 11 No meat-offering which ye shall bring unto the LORD shall be made with leaven for ye shall burn no leaven nor any honey in any offering of the LORD made by fire 12 ¶ As for the oblation of the first-fruits ye shall offer them unto the LORD but they shall not † Heb. astend be burnt on the altar for a sweet savour 13 And every oblation of thy meat-offering * Mar. 9. ●● shalt thou season with salt neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat-offering with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt 14 And if thou offer a meat-offering of thy first-fruits unto the LORD thou shalt offer for the meat-offering of thy first-fruits green ears of corn dried by the fire even corn beaten out of full ears 15 And thou shalt put oyl upon it and lay frankincense thereon it is a meat-offering 16 And the priest shall burn the memorial of it part of the beaten corn thereof and part of the oyl thereof with all the frankincense thereof it is an offering made by fire unto the LORD CHAP. unclean thing 4 or in making an oath 6 His trespass-offering of the flock 7 of fowls 11 or of flour 14 The trespass-offering in sacriledge 17 and in sins of ignorance ANd if a soul sin and hear the voice of swearing and is a witness whether he hath seen or known of it if he do not utter it then he shall bear his iniquity 2 Or if a soul touch any unclean thing whether it be a carcase of an unclean beast or a carcase of unclean cattel or the carcase of unclean creeping things and if it be hidden from him he also shall be unclean and guilty 3 Or if he touch the uncleanness of man whatsoever uncleanness it be that a man shall be defiled withal and it be hid from him when he knoweth of it then he shall be guilty 4 Or if a soul swear pronouncing with his lips to do evil or to do good whatsoever it be that a man shall pronounce with an oath and it be hid from him when he knoweth of it then he shall be guilty in one of these 5 And it shall be when he shall be guilty in one of these things that he shall confess that he hath sinned in that thing 6 And he shall bring his trespass-offering unto the LORD for his sin which he hath sinned a female from the flock a lamb or a kid of the goats for a sin offering and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his sin 7 And if † Heb. his hand cannot reach to the sufficiency of a lamb he be not able to bring a lamb then he shall bring for his trespass which he hath committed two turtle-doves or two young pigeons unto the LORD one for a sin-offering and the other for a burnt-offering 8 And he shall bring them unto the priest who shall offer that which is for the sin-offering first and * Ch. 1.15 wring off his head from his neck but shall not divide it asunder 9 And he shall sprinkle of the bloud of the sin-offering upon the side of the altar and the rest of the bloud shall be wrung out at the bottom of the altar it is a sin-offering 10 And he shall offer the second for a burnt-offering according to the ‖ Or ordinance manner and the priest shall make an atonement for him for his sin which he had sinned and it shall be forgiven him 11 ¶ But if he be not able to bring two turtle-doves or two young pigeons then he that sinned shall bring for his offering the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour for a sin-offering he shall put no oyl upon it neither shall he put any frankincense thereon for it is a sin-offering 12 Then shall he bring it to the priest and the priest shall take his handful of it * Ch. 2.2 even a memorial thereof and burn it on the altar * Ch. 4.35 according to the offerings made by fire unto the LORD it is a sin-offering 13 And the priest shall make an atonement for him as touching his sin that he hath sinned in one of these and it shall be forgiven him and the remnant shall be the priests as a meat-offering 14 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 15 If a soul commit a trespass and sin through ignorance in the holy things of the LORD then he shall bring for his trespass unto the LORD a ram without blem●sh out of the flocks with thy estimation by shekels of silver after the shekel of the sanctuary for a trespass offering 16 And he shall make amends for the harm that he hath done in the holy thing and shall add the fifth part thereto and give it unto the priest and the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass-offering and it shall be forgiven him 17 ¶ And if a * Chap. ● 2 soul sin and commit any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the LORD though he wist it not yet is he guilty and shall bear his iniquity 18 And he shall bring a ram without blemish out of the flock with thy estimation for a trespass offering unto the priest and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his ignorance wherein he erred and wist it not and it shall be forgiven him 10 It is a trespass offering he hath certainly trespassed against the LORD CHAP. VI. 1 The trespass-offering for sins done wittingly 8 The law of the burnt-offering 14 and of the meat-offering 19 The offering at the consecration of a priest 24 The law of the sin-offering ANd the LORD spake unto Moses saying 2 If a soul sin and commit a trespass against the LORD and lie unto his neighbour in that which was delivered him to keep or in ‖ Or 〈◊〉 ●●a●ing † Heb. putting of the hand fellowship or in a thing taken away by violence or hath deceived his neighbour 3 Or have found that which was lost and lieth concerning it and * Numb 5.6 sweareth fal●ly in any of all these that a man doeth sinning therein 4 Then it shall be because he hath sinned and is guilty that he shall restore that which he took violently away or the thing which he hath deceitfully gotten or that which was delivered him to keep or the lost thing which he found 5 Or all that about which he hath sworn falsly he shall even * Chap 5.16 restore it in the principal and shall add the fifth part more thereto and give it unto him to whom it appertaineth ‖ Or in the day of his being found guilty † Heb. in the day of his trespas● in the day of his trespass-offering 6 And he shall bring his trespass-offering unto the LORD a ram without blemish out of the * Ch. 5.15 flock with thy estimation for a trespass-offering unto the priest 7 And the priest shall make an atonement for him before the LORD and it shall be forgiven him for any thing of all that he hath done in trespassing therein 8 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 9 Command Aaron and his sons saying This is the law of the burnt-offering It is the burnt-offering ‖ Or for the burning because of the burning upon the altar all night unto the morning the fire of the altar shall be burning in it 10 And the priest shall put on his linen garment and his linen breeches shall he put upon his flesh and take up the ashes which the fire hath consumed with the burnt-offering on the altar and he shall put them besides the altar 11 And he shall put off his garments and put on other garments and carry forth the ashes without the camp unto a clean place 12 And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it it shall not be put out and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning and lay the burnt-offering in order upon it and he shall burn thereon

IX 1 The first offerings of Aaron for himself and the people 8 The sin-offering 12 and the burnt-offering for himself 15 The offerings for the people 23 Moses and Aaron bless the people 24 Fire cometh from the Lord upon the altar ANd it came to pass on the eighth day that Moses called Aaron and his sons and the elders of Israel 2 And he said unto Aaron * Ex. 29.1 Take thee a young call for a sin-offering and a ram for a burnt-offering without blemish and offer them before the LORD 3 And unto the children of Israel thou shalt speak saying Take ye a kid of the goats for a sin-offering and a calf and a lamb both of the first year without blemish for a burnt offering 4 Also a bullock and a ram for peace-offerings to sacrifice before the LORD and a meat-offering mingled with oyl for to day the LORD will appear unto you 5 ¶ And they brought that which Moses commanded before the tabernacle of the congregation and all the congregation drew near and stood before the LORD 6 And Moses said This is the thing which the LORD commanded that ye should do and the glory of the LORD shall appear unto you 7 And Moses said unto Aaron Go unto the altar and offer thy sin-offering and thy burnt-offering and make an atonement for thy self and for the people and offer the offering of the people and make an atonement for them as the LORD commanded 8 ¶ Aaron therefore went unto the altar and slew the calf of the sin-offering which was for himself 9 And the sons of Aaron brought the bloud unto him and he dipt his finger in the bloud and put it upon the horns of the altar and poured out the bloud at the bottom of the altar 10 But the fat and the kidneys and the caul above the liver of the sin-offering he burnt upon the altar as the LORD commanded Moses 11 And the flesh and the hide he burnt with fire without the camp 12 And he slew the burnt-offering and Aarons sons presented unto him the bloud which he sprinkled round about upon the altar 13 And they presented the burnt-offering unto him with the pieces thereof and the head and he burnt them upon the altar 14 And he did wash the inwards and the legs and burnt them upon the burnt-offering on the altar 15 ¶ And he brought the peoples offering and took the goat which was the sin offering for the people and slew it and offered it for sin as the first 16 And he brought the burnt-offering and offered it according to the ‖ Or ordinance manner 17 And he brought the meat-offering and † Heb. filled his hand out of it took an handful thereof and burnt it upon the altar * Ex. 39.38 beside the burnt-sacrifice of the morning 18 He slew also the bullock and the ram for a sacrifice of peace-offerings which was for the people and Aarons sons presented unto him the bloud which he sprinkled upon the altar round about 19 And the fat of the bullock and of the ram the rump and that which covereth the inwards and the kidneys and the caul above the liver 20 And they put the fat upon the breasts he burnt the fat upon the altar 21 And the breasts and the right shoulder Aaron waved for a wave-offering before the LORD as Moses commanded 22 And Aaron lift up his hand towards the people and blessed them and came down from offering of the sin-offering and the burnt-offering and peace-offerings 23 And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of the congregation and came out and blessed the people and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the people 24 And * Gen. 4.4 1 Kin. 18.38 2 Chro. 7.1 2 Mac. 2.10 11. there came a fire out from before the LORD and consumed upon the altar the burnt-offering and the fat which when all the people saw they shouted and tell on their faces CHAP. X. 1 Nadab and Abihu for offering of strange fire are burnt by fire 6 Aaron and his sons are forbidden to mourn for them 8 The priests are forbidden wine when they are to go into the tabernacle 12 The law of eating the h●ly things 16 Aarons excuse for transgressing thereof ANd * Num. ● 4 26.6 1 Chr. 24.2 Nadab and Abihu the sons of Aaron took either of them his censer and put fire therein and put incense thereon and offered strange fire before the LORD which he commanded them not 2 And there went out fire from the LORD and devoured them and they died before the LORD 3 Then Moses said unto Aaron This is it that the LORD spake saying I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me and before all t●e people I will be glorified And Aaron held his peace 4 And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron and said unto them Come near carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp 5 So they went near and carried them in their coats out of the camp as Moses had said 6 And Moses said unto Aaron and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar his sons Uncover not your heads neither rend your clothes lest you die and lest wrath come upon all the people but let your brethren the
the fat of the peace-offerings 13 The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar it shall never go out 14 ¶ * Ch. 2.1 〈◊〉 15.4 And this is the law of the meat-offering the sons of Aaron shall offer it before the LORD before the altar 15 And he shall take of it his handful of the flour of the meat-offering and of the oyl thereof and all the frankincense which is upon the meat-offering and shall burn it upon the altar for a sweet savour even the * Chap. ● 9 memorial of it unto the LORD 16 And the remainder thereof shall Aaron and his sons eat with unleavened bread shall it be eaten in the holy place in the court of the tabernacle of the congregation they shall eat it 17 It ●●all not be baken with leaven I have given it unto them for their portion of my offerings made by fire it is most holy as is the sin-offering and as the trespass-offering 18 All the males among the children of Aaron shall eat of it It shall be a statute for ever in your generations concerning the offerings of the LORD made by fire * ●xod 1● 37 Every one that toucheth them shall be holy 19 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 20 This is the offering of Aaron and of his sons which they shall offer unto the LORD in the day when he is anointed the tenth part of an * Exod. 16.36 ephah of fine flour for 2 meat-offering perpetual half of it in the morning and half thereof at night 21 In a pan it shall be made with oyl and when it is baken thou shalt bring it in and the baken pieces of the meat-offering shalt thou offer for a sweet savour unto the LORD 22 And the priest of his sons that is anointed in his stead shall offer it It is a statute for ever unto the LORD it shall be wholl● burnt 23 For every meat-offering for the priest shall be wholly burnt it shall not be eaten 24 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 25 Speak unto Aaton and to 〈…〉 saying This is the law of the sin-offering In the place where the burnt-off●ring is killed shall the sin-offering be killed before the LORD it is mo●t holy 26 The priest that off●r●th ●t for sin shall eat it in the holy place shall it be eaten in the court of the tabernacle of the congregation 27 Whatsoever shall touch the flesh thereof shall be holy and when there is sprinkled of the bloud thereof upon any garment thou shalt wash that whereon it was sprinkled in the holy place 28 But the earthen vessel wherein it is sodden * Chap. 11.33 shall be broken and if it be sodden in a brasen pot it shall be both scoured and rinsed in water 29 All the males among the priests shall eat thereof it is most holy 30 * Hebr. 13.11 And no sin-offering whereof any of the bloud is brought into the tabernacle of the congregation to reconcile withal in the holy place shall be eaten it shall be burnt in the fire CHAP. VII 1 The law of the trespass-offering 11 and of the peace-offerings 12 whether it be for a thanksgiving 16 or a vow or a free-will-offering 22 The fat 26 and the bloud are forbidden 28 The priests portion in the peace-off●rings LIkewise this is the law of the trespass-offering it is most holy 2 In the place where they kill the burnt-offering shall they kill the trespass-offering and the bloud thereof shall he sprinkle round about upon the altar 3 And he shall offer of it all the fat thereof the rump and the fat that covereth the inwards 4 And the two kidneys and the fat that is on them which is by the flanks and the caul that is above the liver with the kidneys it shall he take away 5 And the priest shall burn them upon the altar for an offering made by fire unto the LORD it is a trespass-offering 6 Every male among the priests shall eat thereof it shall be eaten in the holy place it is most holy 7 As the sin-offering is so is the trespass-offering there is one law for them the priest that maketh atonement therewith shall have it 8 And the priest that offereth any mans burnt-offering even the priest shall have to himself the skin of the burnt-offering which he hath offered 9 And all the meat-offering that is baken in the oven and all that is dressed in the frying-pan and ‖ Or on the flat plate or slice in the pan shall be the priests that offereth it 10 And every meat-offering mingled with oyl and dry shall all the sons of Aaron have one as much as another 11 And this is the law of the sacrifice of peace-offerings which he shall offer unto the LORD 12 If he offer it for a thanksgiving then he shall offer with the sacrifice of thanksgiving unleavened cakes mingled with oyl and unleavened wafers anointed with oyl and cakes mingled with oyl of fine flour fryed 13 Besides the cakes he shall offer for his offering leavened bread with the sacrifice of thanksgiving of his peace-offerings 14 And of it he shall offer one out of the whole oblation for an heave-offering unto the LORD and it shall be the priests that sprinkleth the bloud of the peace-offerings 15 And the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace-offerings for thanksgiving shall be eaten the same day that it is offered he shall not leave any of it until the morning 16 But if the sacrifice of his offering be a vow or a voluntary offering it shall be eaten the same day that he offereth his sacrifice and on the morrow also the remainder of it shall be eaten 17 But the remainder of the flesh of the sacrifice on the third day shall be burnt with fire 18 And if any of the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace-offerings be eaten at all on the third day it shall not be accepted neither shall it be imputed unto him that offereth it it shall be an abomination and the soul that eateth of it shall bear his iniquity 19 And the flesh that toucheth any unclean thing shall not be eaten it shall be burnt with fire and as for the flesh all that be clean shall eat thereof 20 But the soul that eateth of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace-offerings that pertain unto the LORD * Chap 15.3 having his uncleanness upon him even that soul shall be cut off from his people 21 Moreover the soul that shall touch any unclean thing as the uncleanness of man or any unclean beast or any abominable unclean thing and eat of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace-offerings which pertain unto the LORD even that soul shall be cut off from his people 22 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 23 Speak unto the children of Israel saying * Chap. 3.17 Ye shall eat no manner fat of ox or of sheep or of goat 24 And the fat of the
† Heb carcase beast that dieth of it self and the fat of that which is torn with beasts may be used in any other use but ye shall in no wise eat of it 25 For whosoever eateth the fat of the beast of which men offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD even the soul that eateth it shall be cut off from his people 26 * Gen. 9.4 Chap. 3.17 17.14 Moreover ye shall eat no manner of bloud whether it be of fowl or of beast in any of your dwellings 27 Whatsoever soul it be that eateth any manner of bloud even that soul shall be cut off from his people 28 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 29 Speak unto the children of Israel saying He that offereth the sacrifice of his peace offerings unto the LORD shall bring his oblation unto the LORD of the sacrifice of his peace-offerings 30 His own hands shall bring the offerings of the LORD made by fire the fat with the breast it shall he bring that * Exod 29.24 the breast may be waved for a wave-offering before the LORD 31 And the priest shall burn the fat upon the altar but the breast shall be Aarons and his sons 32 And the right shoulder shall ye give unto the priest for an heave-offering of the sacrifices of your peace-offerings 33 He among the sons of Aaron that offereth the bloud of the peace-offerings and the fat shall have the right shoulder for his part 34 For the wave-breast and the heave-shoulder have I taken of the children of Israel from off the sacrifices of their peace-offerings and have given them unto Aaron the priest and unto his sons by a statute for ever from among the children of Israel 35 ¶ This is the portion of the anointing of Aaron and of the anointing of his sons out of the offerings of the LORD made by fire in the day when he presented them to minister unto the LORD in the priests office 36 Which the LORD commanded to be given them of the children of Israel in the day that he anointed them by a statute for ever throughout their generations 37 This is the law of the burnt-offering of the meat-offering and of the sin-offering and of the trespass-offering and of the consecrations and of the sacrifice of the peace-offerings 38 Which the LORD commanded Moses in mount Sinai in the day that he commanded the children of Israel to offer their oblations unto the LORD in the wilderness of Sinai CHAP. VIII 1 Moses consecrateth Aaron and his sons 14 Their sin-offering 18 Their burnt-offering 22 The ram of consecrations 31 The place and time of their consecration ANd the LORD spake unto Moses saying 2 Take Aaron and his sons with him and * Ex. 28.2 4 the garments and * Ex. 30.24 the anointing oyl and a bullock for the sin-offering and two rams and a basket of unleavened bread 3 And gather thou all the congregation together unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation 4 And Moses did as the LORD commanded him and the assembly was gathered together unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation 5 And Moses said unto the congregation * Exod. 29.4 This is the thing which the LORD commanded to be done 6 And Moses brought Aaron his sons washed them with water 7 And he put upon him the coat and girded him with the girdle and clothed him with the robe and put the ephod upon him and he girded him with the curious girdle of the ephod and bound it unto him therewith 8 And he put the breast-plate upon him also he * Exod. 28.30 put in the breast-plate the Urim and Thummim 9 And he put the mitre upon his head also upon the mitre even upon his forefront did he put the golden plate the holy crown as the LORD * Exod. 28.39 c. commanded Moses 10 And Moses took the anointing oyl and anointed the tabernacle and all that was therein and sanctified them 11 And he sprinkled thereof upon the altar seven times and anointed the altar all his vessels both the laver his foot to sanctifie them 12 And he * Ps 133.2 Ecclus 45.15 poured of the anointing oyl upon Aarons head and anointed him to sanctifie him 13 And Moses brought Aarons sons and put coats upon them and girded them with girdles and † Heb. bound put bonnets upon them as the LORD commanded Moses 14 * Exod. 29.1 And he brought the bullock for the sin-offering and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the bullock for the sin-offering 15 And he slew it and Moses took the bloud and put it upon the horns of the altar round about with his finger and purified the altar and poured the bloud at the bottom of the altar and sanctified it to make reconciliation upon it 16 And he took all the fat that was upon the inwards and the caul above the liver and the two kidneys and their fat and Moses burned it upon the altar 17 But the bullock and his hide his flesh and his dung he burnt with fire without the camp as the LORD * Ex. 29.14 commanded Moses 18 ¶ And he brought the ram for the burnt-offering and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the ram 19 And he killed it and Moses sprinkled the bloud upon the altar round about 20 And he cut the ram into pieces and Moses burnt the head and the pieces and the fat 21 And he washed the inwards and the legs in water and Moses burnt the whole ram upon the altar it was a burnt-sacrifice for a sweet savour and an offering made by fire unto the LORD as the LORD commanded Moses 22 ¶ And * Ex. 29.31 he brought the other ram the ram of consecration and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the ram 23 And he slew it and Moses took of the bloud of it and put it upon the tip of Aarons right ear and upon the thumb of his right hand and upon the great toe of his right foot 24 And he brought Aarons sons and Moses put of the bloud upon the tip of their right ear and upon the thumbs of their right hands upon the great toes of their right feet and Moses sprinkled the bloud upon the altar round about 25 And he took the fat and the rump and all the fat that was upon the inwards and the caul above the liver and the two kidneys and their fat and the right shoulder 26 And out of the basket of unleavened bread that was before the LORD he took one unleavened cake and a cake of oyled bread and one wafer and put them on the fat and upon the right shoulder 27 And he put all * Ex. 27.24 c. upon Aarons hands and upon his sons hands and waved them for a wave-offering before the LORD 28 And Moses took them
whole house of Israel bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled 7 And ye shall not go out from the door of the tabernacle of the congregation lest you die for the anointing oyl of the LORD is upon you And they did according to the word of Moses 8 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Aaron saying 9 Do not drink wine nor strong drink thou nor thy sons with thee when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation lest ye die It shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations 10 And that ye may put difference between ho●y and unholy and between unclean and clean 11 And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses 12 ¶ And Moses spake unto Aaron and unto Eleazar and unto Itham●r his sons that were left Take the meat-offering that remaineth of the offerings of the LORD made by fire and eat it without leaven beside the altar for it is most holy 13 And ye shall eat it in the holy place because it is thy due and thy son● due of the sacrifices of the LORD made by fire for so I am command●d 14 And * Exod. ●9 24 the wave-breast and heave-shoulder shall ye eat in a clean place thou and thy sons and thy daughters with thee for they be thy due and thy sons due which are given out of the sacrifices of peace-offerings of the children of Israel 15 The heave-shoulder and the wave-breast shall they bring with the offerings made by fire of the fat to wave it for a wave-offering before the LORD and it shall be thine and thy sons with thee by a statute for ever as the LORD hath commanded 16 ¶ And Moses diligently sought the goat of the sin-offering and behold it was burnt and he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar the sons of Aaron which were left alive saying 17 Wherefore have ye not eaten the sin-offering in the holy place seeing it is most holy and God hath given it you to bear the iniquity of the congregation to make atonement for them before the LORD 18 Behold the bloud of it was not brought in within the holy place ye should indeed have eaten it in the holy place * Chap. 6.26 as I commanded 19 And Aaron said unto Moses Behold this day have they offered their sin-offering and their burnt-offering before the LORD and such things have befallen me and if I had eaten the sin-offering to day should it have been accepted in the sight of the LORD 20 And when Moses heard that he was content CHAP. XI 1 What beasts may 4 and what may not be eaten 9 What fishes 13 What fowls 29 The creeping things which are unclean ANd the LORD spake unto Moses and to Aaron saying unto them 2 Speak unto the children of Israel saying * Deu. 14.4 Act. 10 1● These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth 3 Whatsoever parteth the hoof and is cloven-footed and cheweth the cud among the beasts that shall ye eat 4 Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud or of them that divide the hoof as the camel because he cheweth the cud but divideth not the hoof he is unclean to you 5 And the coney because he cheweth the cud but divideth not the hoof he is unclean unto you 6 And the hare because he cheweth the cud but divideth not the hoof he is unclean unto you 7 And * 2 Ma● 6.18 the swine though he divide the hoof and be cloven-footed yet he cheweth not the cud he is unclean to you 8 Of their flesh shall ye not eat and their carcase shall ye not touch they are unclean to you 9 ¶ These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters whatsoever hath fins scales in the waters in the seas in the rivers them shall ye eat 10 And all that have not fins nor scales in the seas and in the rivers of all that move in the waters and of any living thing which is in the waters they shall be an abomination unto you 11 They shall be even an abomination unto you ye shall not eat of their flesh but you shall have their carcases in abomination 12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters that shall be an abomination unto you 13 ¶ And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the fowls they shall not be eaten they are an abomination the eagle and the ossifrage and the ospray 14 And the vulture and the kite after his kinde 15 Every raven after his kinde 16 And the owl and the night-hauk and the cuckow and the hauk after his kinde 17 And the little owl and the cormorant and the great owl 18 And the swan and the pelican and the gier-eagle 19 And the stork and the heron after her kinde and the lapwing and the bat 20 All fowls that creep going upon all four shall be an abomination unto you 21 Yet these may ye eat of every flying creeping thing that goeth upon all four which have legs above their feet to leap withal upon the earth 22 Even these of them ye may eat the locust after his kinde and the bald locust after his kinde and the beetle after his kinde and the grashopper after his kinde 23 But all other flying creeping things which have four feet shall be an abomination unto you 24 And for these ye shall be unclean whosoever toucheth the carcase of them shall be unclean until the even 25 And whosoever beareth ought of the carcase of them shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the even 26 The carcases of every beast which divideth the hoof and is not cloven-footed nor cheweth the cud are unclean unto you every one that toucheth them shall be unclean 27 And whatsoever goeth upon his paws among all manner of beasts that go on all four those are unclean unto you whoso toucheth their carcase shall be unclean until the even 28 And he that beareth the carcase of them shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the even they are unclean unto you 29 ¶ These also shall be unclean unto you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth the weasel and the mouse and the tortoise after his kinde 30 And the ferret and the chameleon and the lyzard and the snail and the mole 31 These are unclean to you among all that creep whosoever doth touch them when they be dead shall be unclean until the even 32 And upon whatsoever any of them when they are dead doth fall it shall be unclean whether it be any vessel of wood or raiment or skin or sack whatsoever vessel it be wherein any work is done it must be put into water and it shall be unclean until the even so it shall be cleansed 33 And every earthen vessel whereinto any of them falleth whatsoever is in it shall
in water and be unclean until the even 17 And every garment and every skin whereon is the seed of copulation shall be washed with water and be unclean until the even 18 The woman also with whom man shall lie with seed of copulation they shall both bathe themselves in water and be unclean until the even 19 ¶ And if a woman have an issue and her issue in her flesh be bloud she shall be † Heb. in her separation put apart seven days and whosoever toucheth her shall be unclean until the even 20 And every thing that she lieth upon in her separation shall be unclean every thing also that she sitteth upon shall be unclean 21 And whosoever toucheth her bed shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the even 22 And whosoever toucheth any thing that she sat upon shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the even 23 And if it be on her bed or on any thing whereon she sitteth when he toucheth it he shall be unclean until the even 24 And if any man lie with her at all and her flowers be upon him he shall be unclean seven days and all the bed whereon he lieth shall be unclean 25 And if a woman have an issue of her bloud many days out of the time of her separation or if it run beyond the time of her separation all the days of the issue of her uncleanness shall be as the days of her separation she shall be unclean 26 Every bed whereon she lieth all the days of her issue shall be unto her as the bed of her separation and whatsoever she sitteth upon shall be unclean as the uncleanness of her separation 27 And whosoever toucheth those things shall be unclean and shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water be unclean until the even 28 But if she be cleansed of her issue then she shall number to her self seven days and after that she shall be clean 29 And on the eighth day she shall take unto her two turtles or two young pigeons and bring them unto the priest to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation 30 And the priest shall offer the one for a sin-offering and the other for a burnt-offering and the priest shall make an atonement for her before the LORD for the issue of her uncleanness 31 Thus shall ye separate the children of Israel from their uncleanness that they die not in their uncleanness when they defile my tabernacle that is among them 32 This is the law of him that hath an issue and of him whose seed goeth from him and is defiled therewith 33 And of her that is sick of her flowers and of him that hath an issue of the man and of the woman and of him that lieth with her which is unclean CHAP. XVI 1 How the high priest must enter into the h●ly place 11 The sin-offering for himself 15 The sin-offering for the people 20 The scape-goat 29 The yearly feast of the exp●ations ANd the LORD spake unto Moses after * Chap. 10.2 the death of the two sons of Aaron when they offered before the LORD and died 2 And the LORD said unto Moses Speak unto Aaron thy brother that he * Ex. 30.10 Hebr. 9.7 come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy-seat which is upon the ark that he die not for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy-seat 3 Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place with a young bullock for a sin-offering and a ram for a burnt-offering 4 He shall put on the holy linen coat and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh and shall be girded with the linen girdle and with the linen mitre shall he be attired these are holy garments therefore shall he wash his flesh in water and so put them on 5 And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats for a sin offering and one ram for a burnt-offering 6 And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin-offering which is for himself and * Hebr. 9.7 make an atonement for himself and for his house 7 And he shall take the two goats and present them before the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation 8 And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats one lot for the LORD and the other lot for the † Heb. Azaz●l scape-goat 9 And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the LORDS lot † Heb. went up fell and offer him for a sin-offering 10 But the goat on which the lot fell to be the scape-goat shall be presented alive before the LORD to make an atonement with him and to let him go for a scape-goat into the wilderness 11 And Aaron shall bring the bullock of the sin offering which is for himself and shall make an atonement for himself and for his house and shall kill the bullock of the sin-offering which is for himself 12 And he shall take a censer-full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small and bring it within the vail 13 And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy-seat that is upon the testimony that he die not 14 And * Hebr. ● 13 10.4 he shall take of the bloud of the bullock and * Cha. 4. ● sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat east-ward and before the mercy-seat shall he sprinkle of the bloud with his finger seven times 15 ¶ Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering that is for the people and bring his bloud within the vail and do with that bloud as he did with the bloud of the bullock and sprinkle it upon the mercy-seat and before the mercy seat 16 And he shall make an atonement for the holy place because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel and because of their transgressions in all their sins and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation that † Heb. dwelleth remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness 17 * Luk. 1 1● And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement in the holy place until he come out and have made an atonement for himself and for his houshold and for all the congregation of Israel 18 And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the LORD and make an atonement for it and shall take of the bloud of the bullock of the bloud of the goat put it upon the horns of the altar round about 19 And he shall sprinkle of the bloud upon it with his finger seven times and cleanse it and hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel

XXI 1 Of the priests mourning 6 Of their h●liness 8 Of their estimation 7 13 Of their marriages 16 The priests that have blemishes must not mini●ter in the sanctuary ANd the LORD said unto Moses Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron and say unto them There shall none be defiled for the dead among his people 2 But for his kin that is near unto him that is for his mother and for his father and for his son and for his daughter and for his brother 3 And for his sister a virgin that is nigh unto him which hath had no husband for her may he be defiled 4 But ‖ Or being an husband among his people be shall not defile himself for his wife c. he shall not defile himself being a chief man among his people to profane himself 5 * Chap. 19.27 They shall not make baldness upon their head neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard nor make any cuttings in their flesh 6 They shall be holy unto their God and not profane the name of their God for the offerings of the LORD made by fire and the bread of their God they do offer therefore they shall be holy 7 They shall not take a wife that is a whore or profane neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband for he is holy unto his God 8 Thou shalt sanctifie him therefore for he offereth the bread of thy God he shall be holy unto thee for I the LORD which sanctifie you am holy 9 ¶ And the daughter of any priest if she profane her self by playing the whore she profaneth her father she shall be burnt with fire 10 And he that is the high priest among his brethren upon whose head the anointing oyl was poured and that is consecrated to put on the garments shall not uncover his head nor rend his clothes 11 Neither shall he go in to any dead body nor defile himself for his father or for his mother 12 Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary nor profane the sanctuary of his God for the crown of the anointing oyl of his God is upon him I am the LORD 13 And he shall take a wife in her virgin●ty 14 A widow or a divorced woman or profane or an harlot these shall he not take but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife 15 Neither shall he profane his seed among his people for I the LORD do sanctifie him 16 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 17 Speak unto Aaron saying Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish let him not approach to offer the ‖ Or food bread of his God 18 For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish he shall not approach a blinde man or a lame or he that hath a flat nose or any thing * Chap. 22.23 superfluous 19 Or a man that is broken-footed or broken-handed 20 Or crook-backt or ‖ Or too slender a dwarf or that hath a blemish in his eye or be scurvy or scabbed or hath his stones broken 21 No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire he hath a blemish he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God 22 He shall eat the bread of his God both of the most holy and of the holy 23 Onely he shall not go in unto the vail nor come nigh unto the altar because he hath a blemish that he profane not my sanctuarie● for I the LORD do sanctifie them 24 And Moses told it unto Aaron and to his sons and unto all the children of Israel CHAP. XXII 1 The priests in their uncleanness must abstain from the holy things 6 How they shall be cleansed 10 Who of the priests house may eat of the holy things 17 The sacrifices must be without blemish 26 The age of the sacrifice 29 The law of eating the sacrifice of thanksgiving ANd the LORD spake unto Moses saying 2 Speak unto Aaron and to his sons that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel and that they profane not my holy name in those things which they hallow unto me I am the LORD 3 Say unto them Whosoever he be of all your seed among your generations that goeth unto the holy things which the children of Israel hallow unto the LORD having his uncleanness upon him that soul shall be cut off from my presence I am the LORD 4 What man soever of the seed of Aaron is a leper or hath * Chap. 15.2 a † Heb. running of the reins running issue he shall not eat of the holy things until he be clean And whoso toucheth any thing that is unclean by the dead or a man whose seed goeth from him 5 Or whosoever toucheth any creeping thing whereby he may be made unclean or a man of whom he may take uncleanness whatsoever uncleanness he hath 6 The soul which hath touched any such shall be unclean until even and shall not eat of the holy things unless he wash his flesh with water

shall first set forth 10 ¶ On the south-side shall be the standard of the camp of Reuben according to their armies and the captain of the children of Reuben shall be Elizur the son of Shedeur 11 And his host and those that were numbred thereof were fourty and six thousand and five hundred 12 And those which pitch by him shall be the tribe of Sim●on and the captain of the children of Simeon shall be Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai 13 And his host and those that were numbred of them were fifty and ●ine thousand and three hundred 14 Then the tribe of Gad and the captain of the sons of Gad shall be Eliasaph the son of Reuel 15 And his host and those that were numbred of them were fourty and five thousand and six hundred and fifty 16 All that were numbred in the camp of Reuben were an hundred thousand and fifty and one thousand and four hundred and fifty throughout their armies and they shall set forth in the second rank 17 ¶ Then the tabernacle of the congregation shall set forward with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camp as they encamp so shall they set forward every man in his place by their standards 18 ¶ On the west-side shall be the standard of the camp of Ephraim according to their armies and the captain of the sons of Ephraim shall be Elishama the son of Ammihud 19 And his host and those that were numbred of them were fourty thousand and five hundred 20 And by him shall be the tribe of Manasseh and the captain of the children of Manasseh shall be Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur 21 And his host and those that were numbred of them were thirty and two thousand and two hundred 22 Then the tribe of Benjamin and the captain of the sons of Benjamin shall be Abidan the son of Gideoni 23 And his host and those that were numbred of them were thirty and five thousand and four hundred 24 All that were numbred of the camp of Ephraim were an hundred thousand and eight thousand and an hundred throughout their armies and they shall go forward in the third rank 25 ¶ The standard of the camp of Dan shall be on the north-side by their armies and the captain of the children of Dan shall be Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai 26 And his host and those that were numbred of them were threescore and two thousand and seven hundred 27 And those that encamp by him shall be the tribe of Asher and the captain of the children of Asher shall be Pagiel the son of Ocran 28 And his host and those that were numbred of them were fourty and one thousand and five hundred 29 Then the tribe of Naphtali and the captain of the children of Naphtali shall be Ahira the son of Enan 30 And his host and those that were numbred of them were fifty and three thousand and four hundred 31 All they that were numbred in the camp of Dan were an hundred thousand and fifty and seven thousand and six hundred they shall go hindmost with their standards 32 ¶ These are those which were numbred of the children of Israel by the house of their fathers all those that were numbred of the camps throughout their hosts were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty 33 But the Levites were not numbred among the children of Israel as the LORD commanded Moses 34 And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses so they pitched by their standards and so they set forward every one after their families according to the house of their fathers CHAP. III. 1 The sons of Aaron 5 The Levites are given to the priests for the service of the tabernacle● 11 in stead of the first-born 14 The Levites are numbred by their families 21 The families number and charge of the Gershonites 27 of the Ko●athites 33 of the Merarites 38 The place and charge of Moses and Aaron 40 The first-born are freed by the Levites 44 The overplus are redeemed THese also are the generations of Aaron and Moses in the day that the LORD spake with Moses in mount Sinai 2 And these are the names of the sons of Aaron Nadab the * Exod. 6.23 first-born and Abihu Eleazar and Ithamar 3 These are the names of the sons of Aaron the priests which were anointed † Heb. whose hand be filled whom he consecrated to minister in the priests office 4 * Lev. 10.1 Ch. 26.61 1 Chr. 24.2 And Nadab and Abihu died before the LORD when they offered strange fire before the LORD in the wilderness of Sinai and they had no children and Eleazar and Ithamar ministred in the priests office in the sight of Aaron their father 5 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 6 Bring the tribe of Levi near and present them before Aaron the priest that they may minister unto him 7 And they shall keep his charge and the charge of the whole congregation before the tabernacle of the congregation to do the service of the tabernacle 8 And they shall keep all the instruments of the tabernacle of the congregation and the charge of the children of Israel to do the service of the tabernacle 9 And thou shalt give the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons they are wholly given unto him out of the children of Israel 10 And thou shalt appoint Aaron and his sons and they shall wait on their priests office and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death 11 ¶ And the LORD spake unte Moses saying 12 And I behold I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel in stead of all the first-born that openeth the matrice among the children of Israel therefore the Levites shall be mine 13 Because all the first-born are mine * Exod. 13.2 Lev. 27.26 Chap. 8.16 Luk. 2.23 for on the day that I smote all the first born in the land of Egypt I hallowed unto me all the first-born in Israel both man and beast mine they shall be I am the LORD 14 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai saying 15 Number the children of Levi after the house of their fathers by their families every male from a moneth old and upward shalt thou number them 16 And Moses numbred them according to the † Heb. mouth word of the LORD as he was commanded 17 * Gen. 46.11 Exod. 6.16 Ch. 26.57 1 Chro. 6.1 And these were the sons of Levi by their names Gershon and Kohath and Merari 18 And these are the names of the sons of Gershon by their families Libni and Shimei 19 And the sons of Kohath by their families Amram and Izehar Hebron and Uzziel 20 And the sons of Merari by their families Mahli and Mushi these are the families of the Levites according to the house of their fathers 21 Of Gershon was the family of the Libnites and the family
him that † Heb. doeth sinneth through ignorance both for him that is born amongst the children of Israel and for the stranger that sojourneth among them 30 ¶ But the soul that doeth ought † Heb. with an high hand presumptuously whether he be born in the land or a stranger the same reproacheth the LORD and that soul shall be cut off from among his people 31 Because he hath despised the word of the LORD and hath broken his commandment that soul shall utterly be cut off his iniquity shall be upon him 32 ¶ And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath-day 33 And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron and unto all the congregation 34 And they put him * Lev. 24.12 in ward because it was not declared what should be done to him 35 And the LORD said unto Moses The man shall be surely put to death all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp 36 And all the congregation brought him without the camp and stoned him with stones and he died as the LORD commanded Moses 37 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 38 Speak unto the children of Israel and bid * Deut. 22.12 Mat. 23.5 them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue 39 And it shall be unto you for a fringe that ye may look upon it and remember all the commandments of the LORD and do them and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes after which ye use to go a whoring 40 That ye may remember and do all my commandments and be holy unto your God 41 I am the LORD your God which brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God I am the LORD your God CHAP. XVI 1 The rebellion of Korah Dathan and Abiram 23 Moses separateth the people from the rebels tents 31 The earth swalloweth up Korah and a fire consumeth others 36 The censers are reserved to holy use 41 Fourteen thousand and seven hundred are slain by a plague for murmuring against Moses and Aaron 46 Aaron by incense stayeth the plague NOw * Ch. 27.3 Ecclus 45.18 Jude 11. It is much for you Ye take too much upon you seeing all the congregation are holy everyone of them and the LORD is among them wherefore then lift you up your selves above the congregation of the LORD 4 And when Moses heard it he fell upon his face 5 And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company saying Even to morrow the LORD will shew who are his and who is holy and will cause him to come near unto him even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him 6 This do take you censers Korah and all his company 7 And put fire therein and put incense in them before the LORD to morrow and it shall be that the man whom the LORD doth choose he shall be holy ye take too much upon you ye sons of Levi. 8 And Moses said unto Korah Hear I pray you ye sons of Levi 9 Seemeth it but a small thing unto you that the God of Israel hath separated you from the congregation of Israel to bring you near to himself to do the service of the tabernacle of the LORD and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them 10 And he hath brought thee near to him and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee and seek ye the priesthood also 11 For which cause both thou and all thy company are gathered together against the LORD and what is Aaron that ye murmure against him 12 ¶ And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab which said We will not come up 13 Is it a small thing that thou hast brought us up out of a land that floweth with milk and honey to kill us in the wilderness except thou make thy self altogether a prince over us 14 Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land that floweth with milk and honey or given us inheritance of fields and vineyards wilt thou † Heb. here out put out the eyes of these men we will not come up 15 And Moses was very wroth and said unto the LORD * Gen. 4 4. Respect not thou their offering I have not taken one ass from them neither have I hurt one of them 16 And Moses said unto Korah Be thou and all thy company before the LORD thou and they and Aaron to morrow 17 And take every man his censer and put incense in them and bring ye before the LORD every man his censer two hundred and fifty censers thou also and Aaron each of you his censer 18 And they took every man his censer and put fire in them and said incense thereon and stood in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation with Moses and Aaron 19 And Korah gathered all the congregation against them unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the congregation 20 And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron saying 21 Separate your selves from among this congregation that I may consume them in a moment 22 And they fell upon their faces and said O God the God of the spirits of all flesh shall one man sin and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation 23 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 24 Speak unto the congregation saying Get you up from about the taberlacle of Korah Dathan and Abiram 25 And Moses rose up and went unto Dathan and Abiram and the elders of Israel followed him 26 And he spake unto the congregation saying Depart I pray you from the tents of these wicked men and touch nothing of theirs lest ye be consumed in all their sins 27 So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah Dathan and Abiram on every side and Dathan and Abiram came out and stood in the door of their tents and their wives and their sons and their little children 28 And Moses said Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works for I have not done them of mine own minde 29 If these men die † Heb. as every man dieth the common death of all men or if they be visited after the visitation of all men then
the LORD hath not sent me 30 But if the LORD † Heb. create a creature make a new thing and the earth open her mouth and swallow them up with all that appertain unto them and they go down quick into the pit then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD 31 ¶ * Ch. 27.3 Deut. 11.6 Ps 106.17 And it came to pass as he had made an end of speaking all these words that the ground clave asunder that was under them 32 And the earth opened her mouth and swallowed them up their houses and all the men that appertained unto Korah and all their goods 33 They and all that appertained to them went down alive into the pit and the earth closed upon them and they perished from among the congregation 34 And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them for they said Lest the earth swallow us up also 35 And there came out a fire from the LORD and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense 36 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 37 Speak unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest that he take up the censers out of the burning and scatter thou the fire yonder for they are hallowed 38 The censers of these sinners against their own souls let them make them broad plates for a covering of the altar for they offered them before the LORD therefore they are hallowed and they shall be a signe unto the children of Israel 39 And Eleazar the priest took the brasen censers wherewith they that were burnt had offered and they were made broad plates for a covering of the altar 40 To be a memorial unto the children of Israel that no stranger which is not of the seed of Aaron come near to offer incense before the LORD that he be not as Korah and as his company as the LORD said to him by the hand of Moses 41 ¶ But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron saying Ye have killed the people of the LORD 42 And it came to pass when the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation and behold the cloud covered it and the glory of the LORD appeared 43 And Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of the congregation 44 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 45 Get you up from among this congregation that I may consume them as in a moment and they fell upon their faces 46 ¶ And Moses said unto Aaron Take a censer and put fire therein from off the altar and put on incense and go quickly unto the congregation and make an atonement for them for there is wrath gone out from the LORD the plague is begun 47 And Aaron took as Moses commanded and ran into the midst of the congregation and behold the plague was begun among the people and he put on incense and made an atonement for the people 48 And he stood between the dead and the living and the plague was stayed 49 Now they that died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred beside them that died about the matter of Korah 50 And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation and the plague was stayed CHAP. XVII 1 Aarons rod among all the rods of the tribes onely flourisheth 10 It is left for a monument against the rebels ANd the LORD spake unto Moses saying 2 Speak unto the children of Israel and take of every one of them a rod according to the house of their fathers of all their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods write thou every mans name upon his rod. 3 And thou shalt write Aarons name upon the rod of Levi for one rod shall be for the head of the house of their fathers 4 And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony * Exod. 25.22 where I will meet with you 5 And it shall come to pass that the mans rod whom I shall choose shall blossom and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel whereby they murmure against you 6 ¶ And Moses spake unto the children of Israel and every one of their princes gave him † Heb. a rod for one prince a rod for one prince a rod apiece for each prince one according to their fathers houses even twelve rods and the rod of Aaron was among their rods 7 And Moses laid up the rods before the LORD in the tabernacle of witness 8 And it came to pass that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness and behold the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded and brought forth buds and bloomed blossoms and yeelded almonds 9 And Moses brought out all the rods from before the LORD unto all the children of Israel and they looked and took every man his rod. 10 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses Bring * Hebr. 9.4 Aarons rod again before the testimony to be kept for a token against the † Heb. children of rebellion rebels and thou shalt quite take away their murmurings from me that they die not 11 And Moses did so as the LORD commanded him so did he 12 And the children of Israel spake unto Moses saying Behold we die we perish we all perish 13 Whosoever cometh any thing near unto the tabernacle of the LORD shall die shall we be consumed with dying CHAP. ESDRAS CHAP. XVIII 1 Christ warneth his disciples to be humble and harmless 7 to avoid offences and not to despise the little ones 15 teacheth how we are to deal with our brethren when they offend us 21 and how oft to forgive them 23 which he setteth forth by a parable of the king that took account of his servants 32 and punished him who shewed no mercy to his fellow AT * Mar. 9. ●● Luk. 9.46 the same time cause the disciples unto Jesus saying Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven 2 And Jesus called a little childe unto him and set him in the midst of them 3 And said Verily I say unto you * Ch. 19.14 1 Cor. 14.20 Except ye be converted and become as little children ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven 4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little childe the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven 5 And whoso shall receive one such little childe in my name receiveth me 6 * Mar 9.42 Luke 17.1 2. XXVIII 1 Paul after his shipwrack is kindly entertained of the Barbarians 3 The viper on his hand hurteth him not 8 He healeth many diseases in the island 11 They depart towards Rome 17 He declareth to the Jews the cause of his coming 24 After his preaching some were perswaded and some beleeved not 30 Yet he preacheth there two years ANd when they were escaped then they knew that the island was called Melita 2 And the barbarous people shewed us no little kindness for they kindled a fire and received us every one because of the present rain and because of the cold 3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire there came a viper out of the heat and fastned on his hand 4 And when the Barbarians law the venemous beast hang on his hand they said among themselves No doubt this man is a murderer whom though he hath escaped the sea yet vengeance suffereth not to live 5 And he shook off the beast into the fire and felt no harm 6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swoln or faln down dead suddenly but after they had looked a great while and saw no harm come to him they changed their minds and said that he was a God 7 In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island whose name was Publius who received us and lodged us three days courteously 8 And it came to pass that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloudy flux to whom Paul entred in and prayed and laid his hands on him and healed him 9 So when this was done others also which had diseases in the island came and were healed 10 Who also honoured us with many honours and when we departed they laded us with such things as were necessary 11 And after three moneths we departed in a ship of Alexandria which had wintred in the isle whose signe was Castor and Pollux 12 And landing at Syracuse we tarried there three days 13 And from thence we set a compass and came to Rhegium and after one day the south-wind blew and we came the next day to Puteo●● 14 Where we found brethren and were desired to tarry with them seven days and so we went toward Rome 15 And from thence when the brethren heard of us they came to meet us as far as Appii-forum and the Three taverns whom when Paul saw he thanked God and took courage 16 And when we came to Rome the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a souldier that kept him 17 And it came to pass that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together And when they were come together he said unto them Men and brethren though I have committed nothing against the people or customs of our fathers yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans 18 Who when they had examined me would have let me go because there was no cause of death in me 19 But when the Jews spake against it I was constrained to appeal unto Cesar not that I had ought to accuse my nation of 20 For this cause therefore have I called for you to see you and to speak with you because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain 21 And they said unto him We neither received letters out of Judea concerning thee neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee 22 But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest for as concerning this sect we know that every where it is spoken against 23 And when they had appointed him a day there came many to him into his lodging to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God perswading them concerning Jesus both out of the law of Moses and out of the prophets from morning till evening 24 And some beleeved the things which were spoken and some beleeved not 25 And when they agreed not among themselves they departed after that Paul had spoken one word Well spake the holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers 26 Saying * Isa 6.9 Mat. 13.14 Mar. 4.12 Luk. 8.10 Joh. 12.40 Rom. 11.8 Go unto this people and say Hearing ye shall hear and shall not understand and seeing ye shall see and not perceive 27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross and their ears are dull of hearing and their eyes have they closed lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and should be converted and I should heal them 28 Be it known therefore unto you that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles and that they will hear it 29 And when he had said these words the Jews departed and had great reasoning among themselves 30 And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house and received all that came in unto him 31 Preaching the kingdom of God and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence no man forbidding him ¶ The epistle of PAUL the Apostle to the ROMANS CHAP. III. 2 Milk is fit for children 3 Strife and division arguments of a fiesbly minde 7 He that planteth and he that watereth is nothing 9 The ministers are Gods fellow-workmen 11 Christ the onely foundation 16 Meu the temples of God 17 which must be kept holy 19 The wisdom of this world is foolishness with God ANd I brethren could not speak unto you as unto spiritual but as unto carnal even as unto babes in Christ 2 I have fed you with * Heb. 5.12 milk and not with meat for hitherto ye were not able to bear it neither yet now are ye able 3 For ye are yet carnal for whereas there is among you envying and strife and ‖ Or factions divisions are ye not carnal and walk † Gr. according to man as men 4 For while one saith I am of Paul and another I am of Apollos are ye not carnal 5 Who then is Paul and who is Apollos but ministers by whom ye beleeved even as the Lord gave to every man 6 I have planted Apollos watered but God gave the increase 7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing neither he that watereth but God that giveth the increase 8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one * Psal 62.12 Gal. 6.5 and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour 9 For we are labourers together with God ye are Gods ‖ Or tillage husbandry ye are Gods building 10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me as a wise master-builder I have laid the foundation and another buildeth thereon But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon 11 For other foundation can no man lay then that is laid which is Jesus Christ 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold silver precious stones wood hay stubble 13 Every mans work shall be made manifest For the day shall declare it because it † Gr. is revealed shall be revealed by fire and the fire shall try every mans work of what sort it is 14 If any mans work abide which he hath built thereupon he shall receive a reward 15 If any mans work shall be burnt he shall suffer loss but he himself shall be saved yet so as by fire 16 * Chap. 6.19 2 Cor. 6.16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you 17 If any man ‖ Or destroy defile the temple of God him shall God destroy for the temple of God is holy which temple ye are 18 Let no man deceive himself If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world let him become a fool that he may be wise 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God for it is written * Job 5.13 He taketh the wise in their own craftiness 20 And again * Psal 94.11 The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise that they are vain 21 Therefore let no man glory in men for all things are yours 22 Whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or things present or things to come all are yours 23 And ye are Christs and Christ is Gods CHAP. IV. 1 In what account the ministers ought to be had 7 We have nothing which we have not received 9 The apostles spectacles to the world angels and men 13 the filth and off-scouring of the world 15 yet our fathers in Christ 16 whom we ought to follow LEt a man so account of us as of the ministers of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God 2 Moreover it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful 3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you or of mans † Gr. day judgement yea I judge not my own self 4 For I know nothing by my self yet am I not hereby justified but he that judgeth me is the Lord. 5 * Matth. 7.1 Rom. 2.1 Therefore judge nothing before the time until the Lord come who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts and then shall every man have praise of God 6 And these things brethren I have in a figure transferred to my self and to Apollos for your sakes that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written that no one of you be puffed up for one against another 7 For who † Gr. distinguisheth thee maketh thee to differ from another and what hast thou that thou didst not receive now if thou didst receive it why dost thou glory as if thou hadst not received it 8 Now ye are full now ye are rich ye have reigned as kings without us and I would to God ye did reign that we also might reign with you 9 For I think that God hath let forth us the apostles last as it were appointed to death For we are made a † Gr. theatre spectacle unto the world and to angels and to men 10 We are fools for Christs sake but ye are wise in Christ we are weak but ye are strong ye are honourable but we are despised 11 Even unto this present hour we both hunger and thirst and are naked and are buffeted and have no certain dwelling place 12 * Acts 12.34 1 Thes 2.9 2 Thes 3.8 And labour working with our own hands being reviled we bless being persecuted we suffer it 13 * Mat. 5.44 Being defamed we intreat we are made as the filth of the world and are the off-scouring of all things unto this day 14 I write not these things to shame you but as my beloved sons I warn you 15 For though you have ten thousand instructours in Christ yet have ye not many fathers for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel 16 Wherefore I beseech you be ye followers of me 17 For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus who is my beloved son and faithful in the Lord who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ as I teach every where in every church 18 Now some are puffed up as though I would not come to you 19 * Acts 19.21 But I will come to you shortly * Jam. 4.15 if the Lord will and will know not the speech of them which are puffed up but the
seven golden candlesticks The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches CHAP. II. What is commanded to be written to the angels that is the ministers of the churches of 1 Ephesus 8 Smyrna 12 Pergamos 18 Thyatira and what is commended or found wanting in them UNto the angel of the church of Ephesus write These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks 2 I know thy works and thy labour and thy patience and how thou canst not bear them which are evil and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles and are not and hast found them liars 3 And hast born and hast patience and for my names sake hast laboured and hast not fainted 4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee because thou hast left thy first love 5 Remember therefore from whence thou art faln and repent and do the first works or else I will come unto thee quickly and will remove thy candlestick out of his place except thou repent 6 But this thou hast that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans which I also hate 7 He that hath an ear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life which is in the midst of the paradise of God 8 And unto the Angel of the church in Smyrna write These things saith the first and the last which was dead and is alive 9 I know thy works and tribulation and poverty but thou art rich and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews and are not but are the synagogue of Satan 10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer behold the devil shall cast some of you into prison that ye may be tried and ye shall have tribulation ten days be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life 11 He that hath an ear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death 12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges 13 I know thy works and where thou dwellest even where Satans seat is and thou holdest fast my name and hast not denied my faith even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr who was slain among you where Satan dwelleth 14 But I have a few things against thee because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of * Num. 25. Balaam who taught Balac to cast a stumbling-block before the children of Israel to eat things sacrificed unto idols and to commit fornication 15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans which thing I hate 16 Repent or else I will come unto thee quickly and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth 17 He that hath an ear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna and will give him a white stone and in the stone a new name written which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it 18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write These things saith the Son of God who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire and his feet are like fine brass 19 I know thy works and charity and service and faith and thy patience and thy works and the last to be more then the first 20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee because thou sufferest that woman * ● Kin. 16. ●1 Jezabel which calleth her self a prophetess to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication and to eat things sacrificed unto idols 21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication and she repented not 22 Behold I will cast her into a bed and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation except they repent of their deeds 23 And I will kill her children with death and all the churches shall know that * Ps 7.9 Jer. 11.20 17.10 I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts and I will give unto every one of you according to your works 24 But unto you I say and unto the rest in Thyatira As many as have not this doctrine and which have not known the depths of Satan as they speak I will put upon you none other burden 25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come 26 And he that overcometh and keepeth my works unto the end to him will I give power over the nations 27 * Psal 2.6 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers even as I received of my Father 28 And I will give him the morning star 29 He that hath an ear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches CHAP. III. 2 The angel of the church of Sardis is reproved 3 exhorted to repent and threatned if he do not repent 8 The angel of the church of Philadelphia 10 is approved for his dil●●en●e and patience 15 The angel of Laodicea is rebuzed for being neither hot nor cold 19 and admonished to be more zealous 20 Christ standeth at the door and knocketh ANd unto the angel of the church in Sardis write These things saith he that hath the seven spirits of God and the seven stars I know thy works that thou hast a name that thou livest and art dead 2 Be watchful and strengthen the things which remain that are ready to die for I have not found thy works perfect before God 3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard and hold fast and repent * 1 Thes 5. ● 2 Pet. 3.10 Ch 16.15 If therefore thou shalt not watch I will come on thee as a thief thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee 4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments and they shall walk with me in white for they are worthy 5 He that overcometh the same shall be clothed in white raiment and I will not blot out his name out of the * Phil. 4.3 Ch. 20.12 book of life but I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels 6 He that hath an ear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches 7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write These things saith he that is holy he that is true he that hath * Is 2● 22 the key of David he that openeth and no man shutteth and shutteth no man openeth 8 I know thy works behold I have set before thee an open door and no man can shut it for thou hast a little strength and hast kept my word and hast not denied
10.2 Chap. 3.4 1 Chr. 24 2. Nadab and Abihu died when they offered strange fire before the LORD 62 And those that were numbred of them were twenty and three thousand all males from a moneth old and upward for they were not numbred among the children of Israel because there was no inheritance given them among the children of Israel 63 ¶ These are they that were numbred by Moses and Eleazar the priest who numbred the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho 64 But among these there was not a man of them whom Moses and Aaron the priest numbred when they numbred the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai 65 For the LORD had said of them They * Ch. 14.28 1 Co. 10.5 ● shall surely die in the wilderness And there was not left a man of them save Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun. CHAP. XXVII 1 The daughters of Zelophehad sue for an inheritance 6 The law of inheritances 12 Moses being told of his death sueth for a successour 18 Joshua is appointed to succeed him THen came the daughters of * Ch. 26.33 Josh 17.3 Zelophehad the son of Hepher the son of Gilead the son of Machir the son of Manasseh of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph and these are the names of his daughters Mahlah Noah and Hoglah and Milcah and Tirzah 2 And they stood before Moses and before Eleazar the priest and before the princes and all the congregation by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation saying 3 Our father * Ch. 14.35 26.64 65. died in the wilderness and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah but died in his own sin and had no sons 4 Why should the name of our father be † Heb. diminished done away from among his family because he hath no son Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father 5 And Moses brought their cause before the LORD 6 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 7 The daughters of Zelophehad speak right thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their fathers brethren and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them 8 And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel saying If a man die and have no son then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter 9 And if he have no daughter then ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren 10 And if he have no brethren then ye shall give his inheritance unto his fathers brethren 11 And if his father have no brethren then ye shall give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family and he shall possess it and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute of judgement as the LORD commanded Moses 12 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses * Deut. 32.49 Get thee up into this mount Abarim and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel 13 And when thou hast seen it thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people as * Ch. 20.24 Aaron thy brother was gathered 14 For ye * Ch. 20.24 rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin in the strife of the congregation to sanctifie me at the water before their eyes that is the * Ex. 17.7 water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin 15 ¶ And Moses spake unto the LORD saying 16 Let the LORD the God of the spirits of all flesh set a man over the congregation 17 Which may go out before them and which may go in before them and which may lead them out and which may bring them in that the congregation of the LORD be not as sheep which have no shepherd 18 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses Take thee Joshua the son of Nun a man in whom is the spirit and lay thine hand upon him 19 And set him before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation and give him a charge in their sight 20 And thou shalt put some of thine honour upon him that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient 21 And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest who shall ask counsel for him * Exod. 28.30 after the judgement of Urim before the LORD at his word shall they go out and at his word they shall come in both he and all the children of Israel with him even all the congregation 22 And Moses did as the LORD commanded him and he took Joshua and set him before Eleazar the priest before all the congregation 23 And he laid his hands upon him and gave him a charge as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses CHAP. XXVIII 1 Offerings are be observed 3 The continual burnt-offering 9 The offering on the sabbath 11 on the new-moons 16 at the pass-over 26 in the day of first-fruits ANd the LORD spake unto Moses saying 2 Command the children of Israel and say unto them My offering and my bread for my sacrifices made by fire for † Heb. a savour of my rest a sweet savour unto me shall ye observe to offer unto me in their due season 3 And thou shalt say unto them * Exod. 29.38 This is the offering made by fire which ye shall offer unto the LORD two lambs of the first year without pot † Heb. in a day day by day for a continual burnt-offering 4 The one lamb shalt thou offer in the morning and the other lamb shalt thou offer † Heb. between the two evenines at even 5 And a tenth part of an Ephah of flour for a * Lev. 2.1 meat-offering mingled with the fourth part of an * Ex. 29.40 hin of beaten oyl 6 It is a continual burnt-offering which was ordained in mount Sinai for a sweet savour a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD 7 And the drink-offering thereof shall be the fourth part of an hin for the one lamb in the holy place shalt thou cause the strong wine to be poured unto the LORD for a drink offering 8 And the other lamb shalt thou offer at even as the meat-offering of the morning and as the drink-offering thereof thou shalt offer it a sacrifice made by fire of a sweet savour unto the LORD 9 ¶ And on the sabbath-day two lambs of the first year without spot and two tenth deals of flour for a meat-offering mingled with oyl and the drink offering thereof 10 This is the burnt offering of every sabbath beside the continual burnt-offering and his drink offering 11 ¶ And in the beginnings of your moneths ye shall offer a burnt-offering unto the LORD two young bullocks and one ram seven lambs of the first year without spot 12 And three tenth deals of flour for a meat-offering mingled with oyl for one
