so_o this_o speech_n must_v be_v a_o high_a speech_n and_o yet_o not_o so_o high_a but_o a_o man_n may_v attain_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o it_o so_o far_o as_o may_v serve_v to_o their_o salvation_n when_o he_o have_v speak_v of_o this_o great_a king_n and_o of_o his_o blood_n by_o the_o which_o we_o be_v redeem_v to_o let_v we_o see_v how_o great_a a_o king_n he_o be_v and_o how_o precious_a his_o blood_n be_v he_o fall_v out_o into_o a_o digression_n and_o he_o bring_v out_o a_o high_a description_n of_o the_o lord_n of_o glory_n he_o may_v well_o blabber_n of_o he_o but_o more_o he_o can_v he_o be_v so_o high_a and_o excellent_a in_o all_o majesty_n all_o the_o wit_n of_o man_n and_o angel_n be_v not_o able_a to_o express_v the_o excellency_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n that_o have_v that_o sight_n for_o he_o be_v in_o the_o bosom_n of_o the_o father_n and_o therefore_o no_o man_n nor_o angel_n get_v a_o sight_n of_o god_n i_o say_v immediate_o because_o that_o all_o the_o sight_n that_o man_n and_o angel_n have_v be_v by_o a_o mediate_a person_n the_o son_n of_o god_n this_o be_v the_o first_o second_o how_o be_v it_o that_o the_o son_n be_v call_v the_o image_n of_o the_o invisible_a god_n i_o will_v not_o insist_v here_o to_o bring_v in_o all_o the_o difference_n and_o sort_n and_o image_n because_o it_o pertain_v more_o to_o the_o school_n then_o to_o this_o place_n but_o thus_o far_o i_o tell_v you_o i_o can_v get_v here_o in_o the_o earth_n a_o better_a example_n to_o let_v you_o see_v how_o jesus_n christ_n be_v the_o represent_v the_o person_n of_o his_o father_n in_o the_o shape_n of_o his_o body_n and_o in_o the_o linament_n thereof_o and_o that_o not_o only_o in_o the_o outward_a accident_n but_o in_o the_o very_a substance_n that_o he_o have_v take_v from_o he_o and_o out_o of_o he_o no_o image_n will_v come_v so_o near_o as_o that_o image_n so_o that_o he_o will_v represent_v he_o in_o all_o these_o three_o in_o stature_n shape_n and_o substance_n now_o to_o come_v to_o the_o son_n of_o god_n you_o must_v understand_v there_o be_v no_o accident_n in_o god_n all_o be_v substance_n and_o essence_n he_o will_v then_o represent_v he_o first_o in_o his_o personage_n even_o in_o a_o kind_n of_o portraiture_n for_o how_o be_v it_o he_o be_v distinct_a in_o person_n yet_o nothing_o be_v so_o like_o the_o person_n of_o the_o father_n as_o the_o person_n of_o the_o son_n therefore_o in_o the_o epistle_n to_o the_o hebrew_n 1._o 3._o he_o be_v call_v the_o character_n and_o the_o very_a stamp_n comparison_n he_o represent_v he_o not_o only_o in_o a_o substance_n but_o in_o that_o same_o substance_n in_o number_n so_o that_o there_o be_v not_o two_o god_n but_o one_o god_n nay_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n be_v but_o one_o substance_n and_o one_o god_n in_o number_n and_o therefore_o he_o say_v the_o father_n and_o i_o be_o one_o in_o the_o gospel_n of_o john_n 10._o 30._o no_o earthly_a son_n may_v say_v so_o i_o be_o in_o the_o
father_n and_o the_o father_n in_o i_o nay_o no_o son_n in_o the_o earth_n how_o very_o so_o ever_o he_o represent_v his_o father_n may_v say_v so_o as_o christ_n say_v so_o the_o likely_a the_o quick_a and_o the_o best_a represent_v of_o the_o image_n of_o god_n be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n there_o be_v no_o comparison_n and_o therefore_o in_o john_n 14._o 9_o to_o philip_n he_o say_v in_o that_o thou_o have_v see_v i_o thou_o have_v see_v the_o father_n also_o why_o because_o i_o be_o the_o brightness_n of_o his_o glory_n so_o that_o if_o thou_o see_v i_o thou_o see_v the_o father_n and_o without_o the_o sight_n of_o the_o father_n there_o be_v no_o life_n and_o thou_o must_v begin_v that_o sight_n of_o he_o here_o or_o else_o thou_o shall_v never_o see_v he_o and_o if_o the_o be_v read_v also_o in_o the_o church_n of_o the_o laodicean_n as_o that_o you_o likewise_o read_v the_o epistle_n which_o be_v write_v from_o laodicea_n 17_o and_o say_v to_o archippus_n look_v to_o this_o that_o thou_o fulfil_v the_o ministry_n which_o thou_o have_v receive_v from_o the_o lord_n 18_o the_o salutation_n by_o the_o hand_n of_o i_o paul_n remember_v my_o band_n grace_n be_v with_o you_o amen_n the_o first_o of_o these_o four_o verse_n belong_v to_o the_o last_o treaty_n touch_v salutation_n and_o therefore_o we_o will_v deal_v with_o it_o by_o itself_o before_o we_o come_v to_o the_o other_o have_v show_v before_o what_o worthy_a person_n salute_v they_o now_o he_o intreat_v the_o church_n to_o salute_v and_o greet_v from_o he_o and_o they_o some_z other_o those_o that_o be_v to_o be_v greet_v be_v of_o two_o sort_n first_o the_o brethren_n which_o be_v at_o laodicea_n and_o the_o rather_o he_o intreat_v this_o because_o he_o will_v have_v this_o epistle_n read_v among_o they_o second_o a_o certain_a man_n name_v nymphas_n together_o salutation_n the_o member_n of_o the_o church_n special_o to_o be_v regard_v in_o our_o salutation_n with_o the_o church_n that_o be_v in_o his_o house_n from_o whence_o we_o may_v perceive_v that_o among_o they_o of_o laodicea_n he_o will_v only_o have_v they_o to_o be_v greet_v that_o be_v brethren_n by_o which_o name_n he_o mean_v they_o that_o be_v son_n of_o one_o father_n to_o wit_n god_n and_o adopt_v into_o that_o grace_n be_v ingraff_v into_o christ_n through_o faith_n the_o reason_n whereof_o be_v plain_a because_o with_o they_o alone_o and_o with_o no_o other_o we_o be_v conjoin_v and_o as_o it_o be_v make_v one_o in_o christ_n and_o as_o for_o salutation_n and_o greeting_n they_o be_v certain_a mean_n that_o god_n have_v appoint_v to_o preserve_v and_o maintain_v that_o unity_n and_o conjunction_n that_o the_o member_n of_o christ_n have_v among_o themselves_o which_o howsoever_o as_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o body_n they_o be_v distinguish_v and_o separate_v one_o from_o another_o in_o this_o present_a life_n yet_o feel_v they_o here_o the_o communion_n of_o saint_n and_o have_v hope_n in_o their_o heart_n of_o inseparable_a conjunction_n with_o their_o head_n christ_n and_o with_o that_o whole_a holy_a body_n of_o the_o saint_n in_o the_o life_n to_o come_v another_o thing_n that_o we_o may_v learn_v hence_o be_v in_o the_o person_n of_o nymphas_n who_o be_v the_o father_n of_o a_o family_n or_o master_n of_o a_o household_n teach_v we_o what_o be_v the_o duty_n of_o such_o as_o be_v in_o that_o call_n namely_o so_o to_o govern_v their_o family_n and_o household_n duty_n parent_n and_o householder_n duty_n and_o so_o to_o instruct_v they_o in_o the_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n and_o salvation_n that_o they_o may_v be_v well_o enure_v with_o integrity_n of_o life_n and_o sanctimony_n and_o so_o have_v they_o particular_a congregation_n as_o it_o be_v famous_a and_o worthy_a commendation_n among_o all_o the_o godly_a for_o faith_n and_o holiness_n but_o what_o man_n be_v he_o i_o will_v not_o say_v that_o strive_v to_o this_o but_o that_o think_v of_o it_o at_o the_o least_o careful_o from_o whence_o it_o flow_v that_o not_o only_a people_n proceed_v to_o profaneness_n but_o the_o church_n be_v not_o increase_v which_o can_v be_v till_o special_a family_n which_o make_v particular_a congregation_n be_v well_o and_o thorough_o reform_v but_o we_o will_v leave_v this_o and_o proceed_v to_o that_o which_o follow_v the_o two_o next_o verse_n contain_v in_o they_o the_o five_o part_n of_o this_o four_o chapter_n and_o they_o do_v contain_v in_o they_o certain_a special_a point_n which_o he_o give_v in_o charge_n to_o the_o colossian_n concern_v partly_o their_o own_o benefit_n and_o partly_o the_o good_a of_o the_o laodicean_n the_o first_o thing_n he_o charge_v they_o withal_o be_v that_o after_o this_o epistle_n have_v be_v read_v among_o the_o colossian_n themselves_o they_o will_v cause_v it_o to_o be_v read_v also_o in_o the_o church_n of_o laodicea_n from_o whence_o it_o shall_v seem_v we_o may_v well_o infer_v that_o this_o epistle_n be_v chief_o send_v to_o the_o governor_n and_o elder_n of_o the_o church_n and_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n will_v first_o have_v it_o read_v public_o in_o the_o church_n of_o colosse_n that_o it_o may_v be_v know_v and_o understand_v of_o all_o the_o saint_n there_o next_o that_o he_o will_v have_v the_o whole_a
minister_n they_o ought_v to_o honour_n and_o esteem_v as_o send_v from_o god_n unto_o they_o for_o their_o good_a for_o if_o that_o rule_n of_o the_o apostle_n 1._o tim._n 5._o 1._o rebuke_v not_o a_o elder_a but_o exhort_v he_o as_o a_o father_n hold_v and_o be_v true_a still_o towards_o they_o that_o be_v of_o great_a year_n then_o must_v it_o in_o proportion_n be_v true_a in_o the_o minister_n and_o elder_n of_o the_o church_n in_o who_o their_o place_n and_o calling_n this_o way_n forth_o be_v as_o much_o to_o be_v respect_v as_o year_n in_o other_o and_o the_o pastor_n himself_o shall_v not_o in_o regard_n of_o his_o great_a place_n and_o excellent_a grace_n above_o other_o contemn_v or_o light_o esteem_v these_o admonition_n as_o the_o manner_n of_o some_o be_v but_o shall_v set_v they_o to_o heart_n and_o be_v provoke_v by_o they_o the_o more_o faithful_o to_o execute_v the_o charge_n and_o function_n that_o god_n and_o the_o church_n have_v impose_v upon_o he_o which_o what_o it_o be_v the_o apostle_n show_v by_o the_o word_n follow_v when_o he_o say_v look_v to_o this_o that_o thou_o fulfil_v the_o ministry_n which_o thou_o have_v receive_v from_o the_o lord_n this_o be_v a_o very_a grave_n and_o yet_o withal_o a_o very_a modest_a form_n that_o the_o apostle_n will_v have_v the_o church_n to_o use_v in_o admonish_v their_o pastor_n and_o it_o seem_v to_o stand_v upon_o two_o special_a point_n or_o to_o contain_v two_o thing_n which_o he_o will_v have_v the_o church_n to_o admonish_v their_o pastor_n of_o the_o first_o that_o he_o shall_v well_o consider_v and_o regard_v the_o ministry_n which_o god_n have_v commit_v unto_o he_o both_o minister_n two_o thing_n principal_o require_v in_o a_o faithful_a pastor_n or_o minister_n what_o manner_n office_n it_o be_v and_o of_o what_o great_a weight_n and_o also_o how_o grave_n laborious_a and_o excellent_a the_o vocation_n be_v look_v into_o it_o general_o and_o careful_o consider_v all_o the_o part_n of_o it_o and_o omit_v nothing_o that_o be_v of_o necessity_n require_v to_o the_o faithful_a &_o full_a performance_n of_o his_o pastoral_a duty_n the_o second_o that_o after_o he_o do_v once_o exact_o know_v his_o office_n and_o charge_n he_o faithful_o fulfil_v the_o same_o that_o be_v diligent_o accomplish_v and_o faithful_o execute_v all_o the_o part_n of_o that_o his_o office_n so_o that_o nothing_o may_v be_v find_v defective_a or_o want_v in_o he_o which_o appertain_v to_o the_o full_a discharge_n of_o his_o duty_n and_o office_n and_o these_o two_o thing_n must_v of_o necessity_n be_v join_v together_o not_o only_o in_o do_v ministerial_a duty_n but_o in_o every_o other_o call_v whatsoever_o i_o mean_v the_o knowledge_n of_o a_o office_n and_o the_o execution_n thereof_o for_o this_o be_v not_o sufficient_a that_o a_o man_n know_v what_o his_o duty_n be_v unless_o he_o also_o execute_v and_o perform_v the_o same_o reason_n a_o very_a strong_a reason_n because_o as_o the_o apostle_n say_v to_o he_o that_o know_v how_o to_o do_v well_o and_o do_v it_o not_o to_o he_o it_o be_v sin_n and_o again_o we_o know_v that_o no_o man_n can_v execute_v his_o office_n and_o discharge_v it_o in_o faith_n and_o a_o good_a conscience_n unless_o he_o first_o understand_v what_o he_o be_v bind_v by_o the_o virtue_n and_o power_n of_o his_o calling_n to_o accomplish_v because_o that_o experience_n teach_v we_o that_o as_o of_o a_o unknown_a thing_n there_o be_v no_o desire_n so_o there_o can_v be_v any_o accomplishment_n no_o man_n be_v able_a to_o do_v that_o which_o he_o know_v not_o or_o understand_v not_o now_o though_o out_o of_o these_o word_n we_o may_v learn_v many_o good_a lesson_n yet_o for_o the_o time_n and_o because_o we_o be_v to_o hasten_v to_o a_o end_n we_o will_v observe_v only_o two_o the_o first_o that_o for_o the_o better_a stir_v up_o of_o archippus_n to_o fulfil_v his_o ministry_n he_o take_v a_o argument_n draw_v from_o god_n the_o author_n of_o the_o ministry_n say_v which_o thou_o have_v receive_v from_o the_o lord_n from_o whence_o we_o may_v learn_v that_o the_o conscience_n of_o our_o calling_n special_o then_o when_o we_o be_v sure_o they_o be_v from_o god_n shall_v be_v no_o small_a spur_n it_o conscience_n that_o the_o ministry_n be_v from_o god_n shall_v make_v man_n to_o walk_v faithful_o in_o it_o to_o provoke_v we_o to_o faithful_a execution_n of_o they_o in_o the_o place_n wherein_o god_n have_v put_v we_o whether_o it_o be_v magistracy_n ministry_n or_o any_o other_o special_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o church_n so_o paul_n when_o he_o exhort_v the_o elder_n of_o the_o church_n of_o ephesus_n to_o look_v to_o themselves_o and_o to_o the_o whole_a flock_n and_o so_o to_o feed_v the_o church_n of_o god_n draw_v and_o take_v his_o argument_n from_o the_o holy_a ghost_n who_o have_v call_v they_o to_o the_o oversight_n of_o the_o church_n of_o ephesus_n in_o which_o say_v he_o the_o holy_a ghost_n have_v make_v you_o overseer_n thereby_o declare_v that_o nothing_o can_v more_o effectual_o move_v and_o stir_v up_o man_n to_o the_o do_v of_o their_o duty_n then_o to_o consider_v that_o we_o have_v receive_v our_o ministry_n from_o god_n before_o who_o we_o as_o other_o man_n must_v render_v a_o account_n of_o all_o thing_n that_o we_o have_v do_v in_o the_o flesh_n before_o who_o also_o the_o minister_n must_v stand_v as_o a_o approve_a workman_n that_o need_v not_o be_v ashamed_a 2._o tim._n 2._o 15._o which_o while_o good_a man_n have_v serious_o think_v of_o and_o careful_o practise_v as_o become_v they_o they_o have_v have_v the_o peace_n of_o a_o good_a conscience_n in_o themselves_o and_o great_a approbation_n before_o god_n and_o man_n whereas_o other_o either_o not_o know_v this_o or_o not_o walk_v in_o the_o obedience_n of_o it_o have_v run_v riot_n to_o much_o excess_n and_o draw_v many_o after_o they_o and_o with_o they_o into_o perdition_n and_o i_o will_v to_o god_n that_o we_o here_o in_o our_o land_n have_v not_o taste_v of_o the_o smack_n of_o this_o yea_o i_o wish_v with_o all_o my_o heart_n that_o we_o can_v learn_v by_o that_o which_o be_v past_a to_o be_v wise_a for_o that_o which_o be_v to_o come_v or_o at_o the_o latter_a end_n as_o we_o say_v then_o shall_v we_o see_v god_n more_o honour_v the_o ministry_n more_o faithful_o discharge_v the_o people_n better_o instruct_v and_o all_o good_a fruit_n abound_v whereas_o now_o through_o ignorance_n and_o carelessness_n of_o this_o sin_n and_o superstition_n overflow_v all_o and_o nothing_o but_o a_o flood_n of_o judgement_n ready_a to_o overwhelm_v but_o we_o will_v leave_v this_o point_n and_o proceed_v on_o to_o the_o other_o the_o second_o point_n be_v this_o that_o if_o a_o man_n will_v well_o and_o faithful_o execute_v his_o office_n in_o the_o ministry_n it_o be_v not_o enough_o that_o he_o travail_n in_o one_o part_n of_o it_o alone_o as_o for_o example_n that_o he_o teach_v accomplish_v the_o ministry_n be_v not_o perform_v when_o some_o one_o point_n or_o duty_n of_o it_o be_v accomplish_v only_o exhort_v only_o or_o so_o forth_o but_o he_o must_v of_o necessity_n diligent_o execute_v all_o and_o every_o part_n thereof_o that_o so_o he_o may_v be_v find_v faithful_a in_o all_o the_o house_n of_o god_n as_o moses_n be_v hebr._n 3._o 2._o and_o in_o all_o the_o part_n of_o his_o call_n too_o keep_v back_o from_o they_o none_o of_o god_n counsel_n that_o so_o he_o may_v be_v free_a from_o the_o blood_n of_o all_o as_o the_o apostle_n be_v act_v 20_o for_o that_o indeed_o be_v to_o fulfil_v the_o ministry_n and_o great_a reason_n indeed_o of_o this_o and_o that_o as_o well_o because_o the_o whole_a and_o every_o part_n of_o the_o ministerial_a function_n be_v from_o god_n and_o we_o know_v that_o no_o imperfect_a or_o defective_a thing_n will_v either_o please_v he_o or_o be_v good_a to_o ourselves_o since_o he_o command_v we_o to_o do_v all_o that_o he_o enjoin_v we_o and_o not_o to_o go_v aside_o from_o it_o neither_o to_o the_o right_a hand_n nor_o to_o the_o left_a deuter._n 12._o as_o also_o because_o it_o be_v so_o prescribe_v in_o the_o word_n of_o truth_n for_o the_o apostle_n write_v unto_o timothy_n in_o his_o second_o epistle_n and_o in_o the_o end_n of_o the_o three_o chapter_n and_o reckon_v up_o the_o principal_a use_n of_o the_o scripture_n and_o namely_o that_o it_o be_v profitable_a to_o instruct_v to_o reproove_v to_o correct_v and_o to_o teach_v even_o unto_o righteousness_n which_o be_v as_o it_o be_v so_o many_o part_n and_o piece_n of_o the_o ecclesiastical_a ministry_n and_o in_o which_o indeed_o consist_v that_o same_o right_a divide_n of_o the_o word_n whereof_o he_o speak_v in_o the_o same_o
