the_o power_n of_o jurisdiction_n and_o in_o these_o two_o they_o say_v the_o whole_a office_n and_o authority_n of_o the_o christian_a priesthood_n be_v confer_v 2._o that_o as_o to_o these_o very_a particular_a matter_n and_o form_n in_o their_o present_a ordinal_n although_o the_o schoolman_n be_v general_o for_o have_v they_o of_o divine_a institution_n and_o not_o to_o be_v vary_v from_o as_o be_v above_o note_v yet_o the_o generality_n of_o learned_a man_n among_o they_o at_o present_a be_v of_o another_o opinion_n as_o hold_v it_o only_o of_o divine_a institution_n that_o there_o shall_v be_v matter_n and_o form_n in_o general_n in_o all_o ordination_n but_o what_o the_o particular_a matter_n and_o form_n shall_v be_v be_v leave_v to_o the_o church_n to_o determine_v and_o consequent_o that_o nothing_o else_o be_v necessary_a but_o that_o the_o matter_n bear_v with_o they_o some_o fitness_n to_o signify_v and_o denote_v the_o thing_n intend_v and_o that_o the_o form_n be_v full_o expressive_a of_o the_o power_n and_o office_n confer_v thereby_o and_o this_o as_o to_o the_o form_n seem_v to_o be_v the_o opinion_n which_o you_o allow_v for_o you_o do_v not_o absolute_o require_v that_o we_o shall_v use_v the_o roman_a form_n as_o if_o no_o order_n can_v be_v valid_o confer_v without_o they_o but_o only_o that_o we_o shall_v either_o use_v they_o or_o to_o as_o to_o the_o manner_n of_o the_o mission_n and_o the_o method_n of_o ordain_v thereto_o we_o think_v this_o entrust_v with_o they_o to_o who_o the_o authority_n of_o grant_v the_o mission_n be_v give_v to_o order_n and_o appoint_v it_o as_o they_o may_v think_v will_v best_a express_v the_o thing_n they_o do_v however_o we_o do_v by_o no_o mean_n approve_v the_o recede_a from_o the_o ancient_a and_o long_o receive_v practice_n of_o the_o church_n herein_o but_o think_v that_o those_o usage_n which_o can_v be_v trace_v up_o to_o the_o primitive_a and_o pure_a time_n of_o the_o church_n especial_o if_o they_o reach_v so_o high_a as_o the_o apostolical_a age_n when_o the_o holy_a spirit_n of_o god_n be_v give_v in_o a_o extraordinary_a manner_n to_o be_v a_o conduct_n in_o all_o thing_n of_o this_o nature_n do_v from_o the_o practice_n of_o those_o holy_a and_o inspire_a man_n which_o then_o use_v they_o receive_v such_o plain_a evidence_n of_o their_o conformity_n to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n that_o they_o can_v unless_o in_o some_o extraordinary_a case_n without_o the_o great_a rashness_n be_v vary_v from_o as_o i_o have_v before_o say_v and_o this_o our_o first_o reformer_n have_v a_o full_a sense_n of_o do_v not_o in_o the_o compile_n of_o the_o ordinal_n which_o you_o find_v so_o much_o fault_n with_o indulge_v their_o own_o fancy_n but_o as_o true_a imposition_n of_o hand_n to_o execute_v the_o authority_n receive_v from_o god_n to_o confer_v it_o on_o he_o and_o although_o there_o be_v no_o instance_n of_o any_o imperative_a form_n of_o word_n to_o be_v at_o all_o make_v use_v of_o in_o any_o of_o the_o ancient_a ordinal_n for_o near_a a_o thousand_o year_n after_o christ_n as_o be_v above_o note_v yet_o since_o the_o late_a age_n have_v introduce_v they_o and_o they_o appear_v to_o be_v of_o great_a use_n the_o better_a and_o more_o clear_o to_o express_v and_o declare_v the_o intent_n and_o meaning_n of_o the_o outward_a rite_n to_o which_o they_o be_v annex_v we_o have_v those_o also_o in_o our_o ordinal_n and_o in_o the_o choice_n of_o they_o make_v scripture_n our_o rule_n we_o do_v for_o the_o ordination_n of_o a_o priest_n use_v the_o very_a same_o form_n of_o word_n which_o our_o saviour_n himself_o make_v use_v of_o when_o he_o ordain_v his_o holy_a apostle_n to_o the_o same_o office_n joh._n 20.22_o 23._o receive_v although_o they_o confess_v their_o own_o have_v be_v alter_v yet_o never_o be_v in_o the_o essential_o then_o mr._n earbury_n lay_v down_o this_o proposition_n or_o argument_n that_o if_o our_o saviour_n form_n be_v good_a by_o which_o he_o make_v priest_n than_o be_v we_o good_a but_o our_o saviour_n be_v good_a therefore_o we_o be_v mr._n acton_n distinguish_v upon_o his_o major_n and_o it_o so_o to_o be_v in_o that_o book_n but_o allege_v that_o in_o all_o our_o prayer-book_n from_o edward_n the_o 6_o until_o 1662._o the_o word_n priest_n be_v not_o express_v in_o the_o form_n of_o the_o romish_a church_n by_o cardinal_n pool_n who_o allow_v of_o the_o order_n give_v in_o edward_n the_o 6_o day_n in_o the_o time_n of_o queen_n mary_n mr._n acton_n reply_v that_o now_o they_o than_o have_v be_v in_o defence_n of_o our_o order_n the_o author_n hereof_o will_v be_v very_o thankful_a to_o receive_v it_o from_o they_o in_o write_v which_o may_v come_v to_o he_o by_o the_o
