believe_v that_o there_o be_v a_o divine_a virtue_n in_o image_n and_o a_o great_a virtue_n in_o some_o image_n in_o some_o place_n than_o there_o be_v in_o other_o i_o know_v this_o discourser_n speak_v just_a as_o the_o council_n of_o trent_n do_v for_o it_o be_v there_o define_v that_o there_o be_v no_o divinity_n or_o virtue_n in_o image_n for_o which_o they_o shall_v be_v worship_v etc._n prayer_n among_o other_o at_o the_o consecration_n of_o the_o agnus_n
sense_n of_o our_o church_n so_o he_o do_v rest_n in_o this_o that_o it_o contain_v a_o godly_a and_o wholesome_a doctrine_n necessary_a for_o those_o time_n mean_v the_o time_n in_o which_o and_o for_o which_o this_o homily_n against_o image_n and_o the_o peril_n of_o idolatry_n be_v special_o make_v and_o if_o he_o think_v it_o godly_a wholesome_a and_o necessary_a he_o can_v not_o but_o think_v it_o true._n 5._o therefore_o i_o shall_v conclude_v that_o this_o homily_n ought_v to_o be_v appeal_v to_o in_o this_o controversy_n with_o the_o discourser_n as_o the_o homily_n that_o contain_v the_o deliberate_a and_o settle_a judgement_n of_o our_o church_n and_o such_o doctrine_n as_o be_v necessary_a for_o these_o our_o time_n as_o well_o as_o for_o those_o when_o it_o be_v first_o write_v now_o in_o the_o begin_n of_o the_o first_o part_n of_o this_o homily_n our_o church_n roundly_o tell_v we_o that_o the_o bring_n in_o of_o image_n into_o the_o church_n in_o those_o latter_a day_n have_v nothing_o at_o all_o profit_v such_o as_o be_v wise_a and_o of_o understanding_n but_o have_v great_o hurt_v the_o simple_a and_o unwise_a occasion_v they_o thereby_o to_o commit_v most_o horrible_a idolatry_n then_o have_v note_v that_o the_o word_n idol_n and_o image_n be_v of_o the_o the_o same_o signification_n in_o the_o scripture_n she_o prove_v by_o several_a text_n out_o of_o the_o old_a testament_n and_o the_o new_a that_o image_n be_v neither_o to_o be_v worship_v nor_o so_o much_o as_o use_v or_o have_v in_o church_n for_o fear_n and_o occasion_n of_o worship_v they_o though_o they_o be_v of_o themselves_o thing_n indifferent_a for_o so_o she_o desire_v to_o be_v always_o understand_v to_o speak_v not_o only_o against_o idolatry_n and_o worship_v of_o image_n but_o also_o against_o idol_n and_o image_n themselves_o in_o case_n man_n be_v stir_v and_o provoke_v by_o they_o to_o worship_n they_o and_o not_o as_o though_o they_o be_v simple_o forbid_v without_o such_o occasion_n and_o danger_n as_o you_o may_v see_v in_o the_o begin_n of_o the_o three_o part_n of_o that_o homily_n in_o the_o second_o part_n she_o give_v a_o historical_a relation_n of_o the_o rise_n and_o progress_n of_o image-worship_n in_o the_o christian_a church_n the_o sum_n whereof_o be_v this_o that_o image_n and_o image-worshipping_a be_v in_o the_o primitive_a church_n which_o be_v most_o pure_a and_o uncorrupt_a abhor_a and_o detest_a as_o abominable_a and_o contrary_a to_o true_a christian_a religion_n and_o that_o when_o image_n begin_v to_o creep_v into_o the_o church_n they_o be_v not_o only_o speak_v and_o write_v against_o by_o godly_a and_o learned_a bishop_n doctor_n and_o clerk_n but_o also_o condemn_v by_o whole_a council_n of_o bishop_n and_o learned_a man_n assemble_v together_o yea_o the_o say_a image_n by_o many_o christian_a emperor_n and_o bishop_n be_v deface_v break_a and_o destroy_v etc._n etc._n and_o i_o free_o least_o not_o so_o full_o but_o if_o that_o be_v a_o fault_n i_o suppose_v this_o discourser_n will_v ready_o forgive_v it_o if_o not_o it_o be_v a_o even_a lay_n but_o some_o other_o time_n i_o may_v
