Psal 34.1 Moreover I learn from hence to ãâã his Wisdom in finding out a way to let ãâã his Goodness to poor fallen Mankind by ãâã sus Christ 6. This I learn also may comfort all ãâã Children i. e. God is Good all is an Act ãâã Love and Goodness which he brings on ãâã 7. And O how happy are they ãâã have this Good God to be their God Psal 144.15 ãâã Portion their Friend and Father for ãâã 8. We should also learn to imitate ãâã Good God Mat. 5.45.48 and be like to him in Goodââââ even to be full of Love and Goodness Q. Is not Mercy a part of God's Goodââ or an Essential Property of God A. Some Learned Men seem to ãâã Mercy to be an Essential Property of ãâã because it is an Act of his own Soverelââ but I see not any reason to judge ãâã Goodness is an Essential Property of ãâã Nature so is Mercy also tho' all Actââ Goodness and Mercy are simply displaââ from the Council and Sovereignty ãâã Will and Good Pleasure Rom. 9.18 He was at ãâã own Choice whether he would let out ãâã of his Goodness to any Creature or ãâã either by Creation or by Redemption ãâã he can't save any in a way of Goodness ãâã Mercy to the wrong of his Justice and ãâã liness yet he was not under any Constââ from his Nature to redeem any one ãâã Moreover several Properties of God ãâã not have been display'd without the ãâã stence of proper Objects * Had not sin entred how had Justice been known in punishing as Mercy ãâã to creatures in Misery Q. What do you mean by the Truth and Faithfulness of God or by saying God is Faithful The Faithfulness of God Deut. 32.4 A. Truth and Faithfulness in God is also ãâã very Nature and Essence He is a God of ãâã and without Iniquity From God's Goodness we have his Promiââs and from his Faithfulness they are all ãâã filled to us or shall be God cannot lye ãâã fail in his Word and Promises Tit. 1.2 because ââath and Faithfulness are Essential Proââties of his Nature Q. What do you learn from hence A. 1. I learn from hence to Trust in him What we learn from hence ãâã relye upon his Promises made in Jesus âârist 2. I also learn it is a great Sin to disbeâââ God or distrust his Faithfulness 3. Also it may strike Terror to wicked ãâã for the God of Truth Rom. 1.18 as he will perâân his Promises to his People so he will ââcute his Threatnings upon all Sinners and believers that despise his Goodness Rom. 2.4 4. From hence also I learn that all God's ââple shall hold out to the end and be ãâã because He that hath begun a good Work ãâã will perform it unto the Day of Christ Jo. 10 28. Phil. 1.6 Q. What do you learn from herce What we Learn from hence A. 1. I learn to know from hence ââ Reason why God bears and forbearâ long with an Ungodly World he seââ and knowing all the Wickedness that committed in every Place Patience be an Essential of his Nature O how âââ could he be revenged on all that deââââ and contemn him 2. I learn that they who abuse God ââtience abuse God himself 3. Also we ought to tremble at this is Because the Exercise of Patience in God ââ have an End 4. I learn also from hence to bear ââ Wrongs Injuries and Indignities from Mââ and Afflictions from God patiently wââ out Murmuring or Repining that I mââ like my Father which is in Heaven That Christ is the Most Higââ God and yet truly Man THat Christ is the Most High God ââ pears First Because he hath the Incommuâââcable Names of God given to him or suââ Names that cannot be given to any âââe Creature 1. He is called Most Mighty Psa 45. or Eloihim now tho' this Name God ââ Eloihim is given to Moses c. yet 't is wââ Restriction Exod 7.1 See I have made thee a God ââ Pharaoh he was a God by Office and thâ Satan is called a God yet 't is with Restrict on 2 Cor. 4.3.4 i.e. God of this World but what meââ Creature is called God Absolutely wiââ ââlimitation or Restriction he being God Nature â Because he is said to be The only Wise ââ and God over All Jude 25. Rom. 8.5 Are these Names ââ any where to a y meer Creature â Because Christ's Throne is said to be ââ Ever and Ever Heb. 1.10 ââj Christ is blessed of God and hath a ââ therefore he is not the Most High God â If he was not Man as well as God ââ Objection had something in it but as ââ Man or Mediator he is Sent of ââ Blessed of God annointed of God ââ hath a God sometimes the Scripture ââs of him as he is God and sometimes ââ is Man or as Mediator and so in those ââs â He is called the Holy One Psal 16.10 Thou wilt ââsuffer thine Holy One to see Corruption ââ is the Body of his Holy One ââ He is called I am John 8.58 Exod. 3.14 Before Abraham was â I am that I am I am the same I ever â Is this Name ever given to a meer âature All other Beings but God once âe not â He is called Jehovah Isa 9.6 Mat. 1.23 and the Mighty ââ and The Everlasting Father and Imââel God with us or God in our Naââ What meer Creature had ever these ââes given to them ââândly Christ hath all the Works or âârations and all the Incommunicable ââbutes of God ascribed unto him â He is Eternal Col. 1.17 Pro. 8.26 John 1.1 Heb. 1.3 He that was before all ââs and Creatures were is the Most High ââ but Christ was before all Things and ââures were Ergo. â He that made all Things is the Most High God John 1.2 Heb. 1.10 Col. 1.17 Hebr. 1.3 but Christ made all Things their he is the Most High God 3. He that upholds all Things by ãâã Word of his Power and by whom all ãâã consist is the Most High God but ãâã upholds all Things by the Word of ãâã Power and by him
