the_o providence_n of_o god_n in_o the_o hand_n and_o possession_n of_o this_o state_n the_o enemy_n which_o be_v find_v upon_o it_o be_v flee_v into_o the_o mountain_n with_o a_o intention_n to_o escape_v into_o other_o place_n save_o such_o of_o they_o as_o do_v daily_o render_v themselves_o to_o our_o commander_n in_o chief_a there_o to_o be_v dispose_v of_o by_o he_o and_o we_o be_v satisfy_v of_o the_o goodness_n fertility_n and_o commodiousness_n for_o trade_n and_o commerce_n of_o that_o island_n have_v resolve_v by_o the_o blessing_n of_o god_n to_o use_v our_o best_a endeavour_n to_o secure_v and_o plant_v the_o same_o for_o which_o end_n and_o purpose_n we_o have_v think_v it_o necessary_a to_o publish_v and_o make_v know_v unto_o the_o people_n of_o this_o commonwealth_n and_o especial_o to_o those_o of_o the_o english_a island_n plantation_n and_o colony_n in_o america_n our_o resolution_n and_o intention_n on_o that_o behalf_n as_o also_o to_o declare_v unto_o they_o the_o encouragement_n which_o we_o have_v think_v fit_a to_o give_v unto_o such_o as_o shall_v remove_v themselves_o and_o their_o habitation_n into_o the_o aforesaid_a island_n of_o jamaica_n within_o the_o time_n mention_v and_o express_v in_o these_o present_n and_o first_o concern_v the_o secure_n thereof_o against_o the_o enemy_n we_o have_v already_o upon_o the_o island_n which_o land_v there_o in_o may_v last_v above_o six_o thousand_o soldier_n and_o the_o beginning_n of_o july_n after_o we_o send_v from_o hence_o a_o regiment_n of_o eight_o hundred_o more_o draw_v out_o of_o our_o old_a regiment_n in_o england_n with_o eight_o ship_n of_o war_n beside_o victualler_n to_o be_v add_v to_o twelve_o other_o that_o be_v leave_v there_o by_o general_n pen_n under_o the_o command_n of_o captain_n will._n goodson_n all_o which_o be_v appoint_v to_o remain_v in_o those_o sea_n for_o the_o defence_n of_o the_o say_a island_n and_o we_o shall_v from_o time_n to_o time_n take_v care_n to_o send_v thither_o other_o both_o land_n and_o sea_n force_n that_o we_o may_v have_v always_o in_o those_o part_n such_o a_o strength_n as_o may_v be_v able_a through_o the_o blessing_n of_o god_n to_o defend_v and_o secure_v it_o against_o any_o attempt_n of_o the_o enemy_n that_o whereas_o the_o planter_n in_o other_o place_n have_v be_v at_o great_a and_o vast_a expense_n at_o their_o first_o sit_v down_o and_o in_o the_o very_a beginning_n of_o their_o plantation_n for_o their_o necessary_a defence_n aswell_o against_o the_o native_n of_o the_o country_n as_o other_o enemy_n those_o who_o shall_v remove_v thither_o will_v be_v under_o the_o immediate_a protection_n of_o this_o state_n and_o so_o ease_v both_o of_o the_o danger_n and_o charge_n which_o other_o plantation_n be_v subject_a to_o and_o shall_v have_v for_o their_o further_a encouragement_n the_o term_n and_o condition_n follow_v 1._o those_o who_o shall_v transport_v themselves_o as_o aforesaid_a shall_v have_v land_n set_v forth_o unto_o they_o according_a to_o the_o proportion_n of_o twenty_o acre_n beside_o lake_n and_o river_n for_o every_o male_a of_o twelve_o year_n old_a and_o upward_o and_o ten_o acre_n for_o every_o other_o male_a or_o female_a in_o some_o convenient_a place_n of_o the_o say_a island_n and_o in_o case_n any_o whole_a plantation_n that_o be_v to_o say_v the_o governor_n and_o great_a part_n of_o the_o people_n shall_v remove_v themselves_o they_o shall_v be_v prefer_v in_o respect_n of_o the_o place_n of_o their_o
