affliction_n etc._n etc._n neither_o yet_o be_v god_n a_o hard_a master_n in_o deal_v thus_o with_o his_o faithful_a servant_n he_o know_v that_o heavy_a affliction_n be_v the_o best_a benefactor_n to_o heavenly_a affection_n and_o that_o grace_n be_v hide_v in_o nature_n here_o as_o sweet_a water_n in_o rose_n leave_v which_o must_v have_v the_o fire_n of_o affliction_n put_v under_o to_o distil_v it_o out_o he_o know_v that_o when_o affliction_n hang_v heavy_a corrupt_a affection_n hang_v loose_a upon_o his_o child_n yet_o do_v not_o the_o lord_n afflict_v willing_o nor_o grieve_v persecution_n be_v sincere_a indeed_o one_o thing_n be_v very_o remarkable_a in_o this_o history_n that_o usual_o before_o any_o great_a persecution_n befall_v the_o church_n the_o holy_a man_n of_o those_o time_n observe_v that_o there_o be_v some_o great_a decay_n of_o zeal_n and_o of_o the_o power_n of_o godliness_n or_o some_o mutual_a contention_n and_o quarrel_n among_o the_o people_n of_o god_n or_o some_o such_o sin_n or_o other_o that_o provoke_v god_n against_o they_o and_o then_o as_o the_o shepherd_n set_v his_o dog_n upon_o his_o sheep_n when_o they_o go_v astray_o to_o bring_v they_o in_o and_o then_o rate_v he_o off_o again_o so_o god_n le_fw-fr we_o loose_v wicked_a persecutor_n upon_o his_o own_o child_n but_o it_o be_v only_a to_o bring_v they_o in_o unto_o he_o and_o then_o he_o not_o only_o restrain_v their_o rage_n but_o cast_v the_o rod_n into_o the_o fire_n if_o judgement_n begin_v at_o the_o house_n of_o god_n 4.17_o what_o shall_v the_o end_n be_v of_o they_o that_o obey_v not_o the_o gospel_n of_o god_n much_o excellent_a use_n may_v be_v make_v of_o this_o history_n as_o teach_v we_o that_o whosoever_o will_v take_v christ_n true_o must_v take_v his_o cross_n as_o well_o as_o his_o crown_n his_o suffering_n as_o well_o as_o his_o salvation_n that_o persecution_n be_v the_o bellows_o of_o the_o gospel_n blow_v every_o spark_n into_o a_o flame_n and_o that_o martyr_n ash_n be_v the_o best_a compost_n to_o manure_v the_o church_n their_o blood_n to_o water_v it_o and_o make_v it_o fertile_a that_o god_n child_n be_v like_o star_n that_o shine_v bright_a in_o the_o dark_a night_n like_a torch_n that_o be_v the_o better_a for_o beat_v like_a grape_n that_o come_v not_o to_o the_o proof_n till_o they_o come_v to_o the_o press_n like_v spice_n that_o smell_v sweet_a when_o pound_v like_o young_a tree_n that_o root_n the_o fast_o for_o shake_v like_a vine_n that_o be_v the_o better_a for_o bleed_v like_o gold_n that_o look_v the_o bright_a for_o scour_v like_a glow_n worm_n that_o shine_v best_o in_o the_o dark_a like_a juniper_n that_o smell_n sweet_a in_o the_o fire_n like_o the_o pomander_n which_o become_v more_o fragrant_a for_o chafe_v like_o the_o palm_n tree_n which_o prove_v the_o better_a for_o press_v like_o the_o camomile_n which_o the_o more_o you_o tread_v it_o the_o more_o you_o spread_v it_o yea_o god_n know_v that_o we_o be_v best_a when_o we_o be_v worst_a and_o live_v holy_a when_o we_o die_v fast_o and_o therefore_o he_o frame_v his_o deal_n to_o our_o disposition_n seek_v rather_o to_o profit_v then_o to_o please_v we_o that_o when_o god_n expose_v we_o to_o persecution_n he_o expect_v our_o speedy_a and_o thorough_a reformation_n if_o we_o desire_v the_o affliction_n to_o be_v remove_v for_o as_o it_o be_v to_o no_o purpose_n for_o the_o fine_a to_o put_v his_o gold_n into_o the_o fire_n except_o it_o lie_v there_o till_o it_o be_v refine_v so_o be_v it_o to_o small_a purpose_n for_o god_n to_o lay_v affliction_n on_o we_o if_o so_o soon_o as_o we_o whine_v and_o groan_v under_o his_o hand_n he_o shall_v remove_v they_o before_o we_o be_v better_v thereby_o whereas_o affliction_n like_o lot_n angel_n will_v soon_o away_o when_o they_o have_v do_v their_o errand_n like_a plaster_n when_o the_o sore_n be_v once_o whole_a they_o will_v fall_v off_o of_o their_o own_o accord_n that_o we_o shall_v with_o patience_n submit_v to_o the_o afflict_a hand_n of_o the_o all_o wise_a god_n and_o our_o merciful_a father_n say_v with_o the_o church_n i_o will_v bear_v the_o indignation_n of_o the_o lord_n because_o i_o have_v sin_v against_o he_o 7.9_o consider_v also_o that_o impatience_n under_o affliction_n make_v it_o much_o more_o grievous_a as_o a_o man_n in_o a_o fever_n that_o by_o toss_v and_o tumble_v exasperate_v the_o disease_n and_o increase_v his_o own_o grief_n that_o all_o that_o will_v live_v godly_a in_o christ_n jesus_n must_v
