resolve_v and_o therefore_o that_o among_o all_o mankind_n that_o lie_v all_o alike_o in_o the_o same_o mass_n of_o corruption_n that_o some_o be_v sanctify_v and_o some_o be_v not_o that_o among_o they_o that_o be_v sanctify_v some_o be_v sanctify_v in_o one_o degree_n and_o some_o in_o another_o and_o yet_o none_o so_o perfect_o as_o to_o be_v free_v from_o sin_n the_o best_a of_o god_n saint_n may_v rest_v satisfy_v in_o this_o it_o be_v god_n good_a pleasure_n to_o give_v forth_o his_o grace_n in_o such_o a_o measure_n to_o some_o more_o to_o some_o less_o as_o shall_v only_o weaken_v not_o utter_o destroy_v the_o corruption_n of_o his_o people_n therefore_o the_o apostle_n in_o hebrew_n 9.10_o speak_v of_o christ_n come_v to_o do_v the_o will_n of_o god_n by_o which_o will_v say_v he_o we_o be_v sanctify_v that_o we_o be_v sanctify_v when_o other_o be_v not_o be_v from_o the_o will_n of_o god_n that_o we_o be_v sanctify_v in_o such_o a_o measure_n not_o more_o nor_o less_o must_v be_v resolve_v into_o the_o sovereign_a and_o uncontrollable_a will_n of_o god_n by_o which_o will_v we_o be_v sanctify_v and_o yet_o there_o be_v also_o many_o wise_a end_n and_o reason_n of_o this_o will_n of_o god_n why_o he_o shall_v leave_v still_o such_o sinful_a propension_n and_o corrupt_a inclination_n even_o in_o the_o best_a of_o his_o people_n as_o first_o grace_n because_o hereby_o he_o maintain_v a_o harmony_n in_o the_o work_v of_o grace_n hereby_o god_n maintain_v a_o beauty_n and_o harmony_n in_o the_o work_n of_o grace_n as_o well_o as_o in_o the_o work_n of_o nature_n the_o beauty_n and_o harmony_n of_o the_o universe_n consist_v in_o gradation_n whereby_o as_o by_o little_a step_n or_o round_v we_o ascend_v from_o one_o kind_n of_o be_v to_o another_o thus_o god_n have_v place_v man_n in_o the_o world_n as_o it_o be_v a_o middle_a step_n betwixt_o brute_n creature_n and_o angel_n and_o therefore_o he_o partake_v somewhat_o of_o the_o nature_n of_o both_o his_o soul_n and_o his_o intellectual_a part_n that_o be_v make_v like_o the_o nature_n of_o angel_n and_o then_o there_o be_v in_o he_o a_o sensative_a part_n desire_n and_o propension_n and_o on_o this_o side_n he_o be_v a_o kin_n even_o to_o the_o beast_n that_o perish_v so_o be_v it_o also_o in_o the_o work_n of_o grace_n a_o christian_n be_v as_o it_o be_v a_o step_n betwixt_o a_o wicked_a man_n and_o a_o angel_n a_o wicked_a man_n have_v no_o grace_n and_o a_o holy_a angel_n have_v no_o sin_n now_o to_o make_v up_o this_o great_a gap_n god_n have_v place_v a_o christian_a as_o a_o middle_a step_n betwixt_o they_o to_o tack_n and_o unite_v the_o moral_a world_n together_o there_o be_v in_o he_o a_o heavenly_a and_o spiritual_a part_n and_o by_o that_o he_o bring_v man_n out_o of_o a_o state_n of_o mere_a sinful_a nature_n to_o a_o state_n of_o grace_n mix_v with_o sin_n and_o from_o a_o state_n of_o mix_v grace_n to_o a_o state_n of_o pure_a and_o complete_a grace_n where_o at_o last_o a_o christian_n shall_v be_v full_o consummate_v and_o be_v as_o the_o angel_n of_o god_n thus_o from_o step_n to_o step_n god_n gradual_o carry_v on_o the_o work_n of_o sanctification_n to_o perfection_n and_o hereby_o he_o maintain_v a_o admirable_a beauty_n and_o harmony_n in_o the_o work_v of_o grace_n as_o well_o as_o in_o the_o work_v of_o nature_n this_o set_v forth_o the_o beauty_n of_o the_o world_n that_o there_o be_v such_o a_o conveyance_n from_o one_o kind_n of_o creature_n to_o another_o whereby_o they_o touch_v one_o another_o and_o man_n to_o a_o saint_n partly_o wicked_a and_o partly_o gracious_a from_o a_o saint_n on_o earth_n to_o a_o saint_n in_o heaven_n where_o the_o imperfect_a work_n of_o grace_n here_o on_o earth_n be_v watch_n and_o ward_n if_o we_o have_v no_o enemy_n to_o beat_v up_o our_o quarter_n and_o how_o shall_v we_o exercise_v faith_n which_o s._n john_n tell_v we_o be_v our_o victory_n if_o we_o have_v no_o enemy_n to_o conquer_v and_o how_o shall_v we_o exercise_v repentance_n and_o godly_a sorrow_n whereby_o the_o soul_n be_v recruit_v and_o whereby_o its_o grace_n be_v reinforce_v again_o if_o so_o be_v we_o be_v never_o foil_v nor_o overcome_v by_o ouâ—_n spiritual_a enemy_n part_n of_o our_o spiritual_a armour_n will_v soon_o rust_v but_o that_o ouâ—_n corruption_n and_o sinful_a pardon_n and_o reconciliation_n as_o we_o have_v so_o much_o boldness_n shall_v we_o have_v ordinary_o in_o our_o address_n to_o god_n what_o be_v the_o reason_n the_o conscience_n of_o wicked_a man_n drag_v they_o before_o god_n and_o they_o come_v with_o so_o much_o diffidence_n dejectedness_n and_o jealousy_n why_o it_o be_v because_o they_o be_v conscious_a to_o themselves_o of_o guilt_n that_o lie_v upon_o they_o and_o this_o make_v they_o look_v on_o god_n rather_o under_o the_o notion_n of_o a_o judge_n than_o of_o a_o friend_n or_o father_n and_o this_o make_v they_o perform_v their_o duty_n so_o distrustful_o as_o if_o they_o will_v not_o have_v god_n take_v any_o notice_n that_o they_o be_v in_o his_o presence_n but_o when_o a_o pardon_v sinner_n make_v his_o address_n to_o god_n he_o may_v do_v it_o with_o a_o holy_a freedom_n the_o face_n of_o his_o soul_n look_v cheerful_o and_o he_o treat_v with_o god_n with_o a_o open_a heart_n what_o ground_n be_v there_o now_o for_o such_o a_o confidence_n as_o this_o be_v for_o poor_a vile_a dust_n and_o ash_n to_o appear_v thus_o before_o the_o great_a god_n of_o heaven_n and_o earth_n yes_o there_o be_v for_o gild_n be_v remove_v his_o peace_n be_v make_v in_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n all_o enmity_n be_v abolish_v all_o quarrel_n be_v decide_v and_o it_o become_v not_o he_o to_o serve_v god_n with_o such_o lay_v a_o good_a ground_n for_o peace_n in_o a_o man_n be_v own_o conscience_n i_o do_v not_o say_v that_o peace_n of_o conscience_n be_v always_o a_o inseparable_a attendant_n upon_o pardon_n of_o sin_n for_o doubtless_o there_o be_v many_o so_o unhappy_a as_o to_o have_v a_o wrangle_a conscience_n in_o their_o own_o bosom_n when_o god_n be_v at_o peace_n with_o they_o but_o this_o be_v certain_a that_o pardon_v of_o sin_n lay_v a_o solid_a ground_n and_o foundation_n for_o peace_n in_o a_o man_n be_v own_o conscience_n and_o be_v christian_n but_o as_o industrious_a as_o they_o shall_v be_v in_o clear_v up_o their_o evidence_n for_o heaven_n they_o may_v obtain_v peace_n whenever_o they_o be_v pardon_v what_o be_v there_o that_o disquiet_v conscience_n but_o only_a gild_n nothing_o but_o the_o gild_n of_o sin_n do_v it_o this_o be_v that_o which_o rage_v and_o storm_v in_o wicked_a man_n and_o be_v as_o a_o tempest_n within_o their_o breast_n this_o be_v that_o they_o flow_v from_o the_o curse_n of_o the_o law_n but_o if_o the_o manifestation_n of_o his_o holiness_n be_v all_o he_o intend_v by_o they_o then_o be_v they_o only_o fatherly_a correction_n proceed_v from_o love_n and_o mercy_n first_o those_o who_o sin_n god_n have_v pardon_v he_o may_v afflict_v for_o the_o declaration_n of_o his_o holiness_n that_o they_o may_v see_v and_o know_v of_o thy_o vain_a thought_n and_o of_o thy_o idle_a word_n or_o thou_o must_v for_o ever_o perish_v under_o they_o four_o if_o there_o be_v so_o great_a evil_n and_o use_v 4_o danger_n in_o little_a sin_n hence_o see_v then_o what_o cause_n we_o have_v to_o bemoan_v and_o humble_v ourselves_o before_o god_n with_o tear_n in_o our_o eye_n and_o sorrow_n in_o our_o heart_n even_o for_o our_o shall_v have_v be_v so_o intent_n upon_o the_o beg_n of_o pardon_n for_o those_o sin_n as_o that_o he_o can_v not_o spare_v a_o petition_n to_o ask_v pardon_n for_o any_o other_o sin_n but_o yet_o have_v commit_v some_o more_o gross_a and_o heinous_a sin_n when_o therefore_o in_o your_o prayer_n you_o come_v to_o this_o request_n lord_n pardon_v i_o the_o sin_n and_o fail_n of_o this_o day_n think_v with_o yourself_o now_o i_o ought_v to_o be_v as_o fervent_a as_o affectionate_a and_o penitent_a as_o if_o i_o be_v confess_v drunkenness_n or_o murder_n for_o possible_o the_o little_a sin_n and_o fail_n that_o i_o have_v commit_v this_o day_n if_o they_o be_v all_o of_o they_o put_v together_o the_o gild_n of_o they_o may_v amount_v to_o be_v as_o great_a as_o one_o of_o those_o gross_a sin_n now_o upon_o such_o a_o general_a confession_n and_o humiliation_n as_o this_o be_v god_n issue_v out_o a_o pardon_n in_o course_n for_o our_o common_a and_o ordinary_a infirmity_n and_o by_o one_o act_n of_o oblivion_n blot_v out_o many_o act_n of_o provocation_n there_o be_v two_o consideration_n that_o may_v be_v very_o useful_a to_o we_o in_o order_n to_o the_o humble_v of_o without_o intermission_n offend_v against_o god_n and_o provoke_v he_o against_o our_o own_o soul_n still_o either_o the_o matter_n of_o our_o action_n be_v contrary_a to_o the_o holy_a will_n and_o law_n of_o god_n or_o the_o manner_n in_o which_o we_o perform_v they_o if_o the_o substance_n of_o our_o action_n be_v not_o evil_a yet_o the_o circumstance_n be_v there_o be_v not_o a_o word_n in_o prayer_n not_o a_o thought_n in_o meditation_n but_o â—ath_v the_o gild_n of_o some_o sin_n cleave_v to_o 〈◊〉_d and_o if_o it_o be_v so_o with_o we_o in_o our_o holy_a performance_n how_o do_v you_o 6.5_o gen._n 6.5_o certain_o do_v we_o serious_o consider_v what_o â—t_a be_v we_o say_v when_o we_o confess_v to_o god_n â—hat_n our_o whole_a life_n be_v nothing_o but_o one_o continue_a course_n of_o sin_n those_o moment_n every_o one_o of_o which_o bring_v fresh_a gild_n upon_o â—s_n will_v not_o slide_v away_o so_o pleasant_o with_o we_o as_o they_o do_v but_o because_o our_o sin_n seem_v small_a to_o we_o we_o regard_v they_o not_o and_o so_o our_o time_n waste_v and_o our_o gild_n increase_v till_o eternity_n put_v a_o period_n anâ—_n full_a end_n to_o those_o sin_n to_o which_o wâ—_n can_v never_o put_v any_o stop_n or_o intermission_n nature_n little_a sin_n proceed_v from_o a_o corrupt_a nature_n second_o consider_v what_o a_o corrupt_a and_o deprave_a nature_n these_o little_a sin_n â—_o flow_v from_o when_o at_o any_o time_n we_o be_v sensible_a of_o a_o vain_a and_o sinful_a though_o rise_v up_o in_o our_o heart_n we_o shall_v trace_v â—_o along_o to_o the_o fountain_n of_o it_o even_o original_a corruption_n from_o whence_o it_o bubbleâ—_n up_o if_o we_o will_v but_o do_v so_o we_o shall_v seâ—_n great_a cause_n to_o be_v deep_o humble_v for_o that_o fruitful_a seed-plot_n of_o all_o manner_n of_o sin_n that_o be_v in_o our_o heart_n many_o thousand_o of_o lust_n lie_v crawl_v and_o knot_v together_o there_o that_o never_o yet_o see_v the_o light_n the_o damn_a in_o hell_n have_v not_o worse_a nature_n in_o they_o than_o we_o have_v there_o be_v no_o sin_n how_o horrid_a so_o ever_o that_o they_o commit_v on_o earth_n or_o can_v be_v suppose_v to_o commit_v now_o in_o hell_n but_o we_o also_o shall_v run_v into_o it_o do_v not_o god_n powerful_a restraint_n withhold_v we_o now_o do_v little_a sin_n proceed_v from_o such_o a_o corrupt_a and_o curse_a fountain_n and_o have_v we_o not_o then_o great_a cause_n to_o be_v humble_v before_o the_o lord_n for_o they_o and_o say_v lord_n here_o be_v sin_n a_o little_a sin_n it_o
