wisdom_n in_o god_n which_o shall_v be_v like_a to_o the_o word_n of_o man_n true_a it_o be_v that_o we_o may_v well_o take_v some_o comparison_n from_o ourselves_o but_o yet_o we_o ought_v always_o to_o mark_v the_o long_a distance_n and_o great_a difference_n that_o be_v between_o we_o and_o god_n similitude_n a_o apt_a similitude_n for_o if_o the_o heaven_n be_v much_o high_a than_o the_o earth_n much_o more_o must_v it_o needs_o be_v that_o we_o shall_v know_v and_o confess_v that_o god_n be_v more_o high_a than_o we_o yea_o there_o be_v no_o proportion_n or_o resemblance_n as_o it_o be_v between_o god_n and_o man_n so_o then_o when_o man_n shall_v bring_v or_o allege_v unto_o we_o some_o similitude_n take_v from_o the_o creature_n we_o must_v always_o mark_v this_o great_a distance_n and_o difference_n which_o be_v between_o god_n and_o us._n 5.7_o there_o be_v two_o part_n or_o power_n of_o a_o man_n soul_n to_o wit_n understanding_n and_o will_n see_v his_o institut_fw-la lib._n 1._o cap._n 15._o sect._n 5.7_o as_o a_o man_n may_v very_o well_o say_v that_o in_o the_o soul_n of_o a_o man_n there_o be_v a_o certain_a understanding_n which_o be_v in_o such_o sort_n join_v to_o the_o soul_n that_o the_o soul_n can_v not_o be_v without_o understanding_n there_o be_v also_o a_o will_n not_o as_o when_o we_o have_v now_o one_o desire_n now_o another_o but_o a_o certain_a power_n as_o a_o man_n will_v say_v to_o will_n which_o thing_n man_n have_v in_o himself_o for_o man_n be_v not_o as_o a_o stone_n or_o as_o a_o pile_n of_o wood_n without_o sense_n and_o reason_n but_o he_o have_v imprint_v in_o he_o this_o property_n to_o will_v this_o or_o that_o so_o then_o we_o may_v take_v and_o use_v such_o similitude_n but_o yet_o notwithstanding_o we_o must_v consider_v that_o speech_n be_v here_o have_v of_o so_o high_a thing_n as_o of_o necessity_n all_o man_n understanding_n and_o wit_n must_v be_v abase_v and_o bring_v low_o and_o we_o must_v handle_v they_o and_o entreat_v of_o they_o in_o all_o humility_n apply_v they_o to_o their_o true_a meaning_n avoid_v curiosity_n and_o vain_a imagination_n must_v be_v avoid_v and_o must_v not_o be_v over_o curious_a we_o then_o have_v that_o fond_a imagination_n which_o have_v bear_v sway_n and_o rule_v heretofore_o in_o the_o world_n but_o we_o must_v come_v to_o god_n school_n to_o hearken_v to_o that_o which_o he_o shall_v speak_v unto_o we_o and_o to_o fly_v from_o all_o that_o which_o man_n shall_v set_v out_o and_o shall_v be_v find_v contrary_a to_o that_o obey_v god_n voice_n must_v only_o be_v obey_v which_o the_o holy_a ghost_n have_v leave_v us._n now_o furthermore_o we_o must_v also_o mark_v that_o some_o have_v be_v thrust_v forward_o by_o the_o devil_n have_v pervert_v the_o meaning_n of_o this_o doctrine_n affirm_v that_o this_o word_n be_v nothing_o else_o but_o some_o certain_a counsel_n deliberation_n and_o purpose_n that_o god_n have_v to_o redeem_v mankind_n in_o the_o person_n of_o jesus_n christ_n who_o be_v a_o certain_a form_n confute_v a_o perilous_a opinion_n confute_v as_o they_o call_v he_o as_o when_o a_o man_n shall_v have_v purpose_v to_o dosome_n work_n and_o shall_v have_v conceive_v the_o same_o in_o his_o spirit_n or_o understanding_n leave_v not_o by_o so_o say_v everlastingness_n of_o essence_n or_o be_v to_o the_o son_n of_o god_n but_o we_o see_v already_o and_o shall_v see_v hereafter_o more_o large_o how_o and_o in_o what_o sort_n saint_n john_n call_v jesus_n christ_n that_o word_n of_o god_n thereby_o to_o declare_v and_o set_v out_o his_o deity_n as_o i_o have_v already_o say_v and_o that_o so_o it_o be_v behold_v a_o plain_a testimony_n of_o god_n himself_o for_o he_o say_v that_o this_o word_n be_v in_o the_o beginning_n so_o than_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v that_o it_o have_v be_v eternal_a and_o everlasting_a it_o be_v true_a 1.1_o gen._n 1.1_o that_o some_o will_v reply_v against_o it_o because_o moses_n say_v that_o god_n in_o the_o beginning_n create_v heaven_n and_o earth_n and_o that_o now_o s._n john_n say_v that_o this_o word_n be_v in_o the_o beginning_n that_o it_o seem_v hereby_o see_v that_o so_o it_o be_v that_o the_o heaven_n the_o earth_n and_o other_o creature_n have_v a_o beginning_n that_o we_o can_v not_o prove_v the_o eternity_n or_o everlastingnes_n of_o jesus_n christ_n because_o it_o be_v say_v that_o the_o word_n be_v in_o the_o beginning_n answer_v a_o objection_n answer_v but_o the_o answer_n be_v easy_a to_o wit_n that_o when_o moses_n speak_v of_o the_o beginning_n we_o be_v to_o remember_v &_o mark_v whereof_o he_o speak_v that_o be_v of_o heaven_n of_o earth_n and_o other_o thing_n that_o have_v indeed_o a_o beginning_n but_o now_o let_v we_o weigh_v and_o mark_v that_o which_o saint_n john_n say_v in_o the_o beginning_n say_v he_o be_v that_o word_n and_o where_o be_v the_o beginning_n very_o in_o god_n and_o what_o be_v god_n beginning_n i_o pray_v you_o certain_o he_o have_v none_o for_o otherwise_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v that_o god_n shall_v be_v frame_v &_o make_v so_o that_o when_o mention_n be_v make_v of_o the_o begin_n of_o god_n we_o must_v conclude_v that_o it_o be_v such_o a_o beginning_n as_o have_v not_o any_o time_n at_o all_o there_o be_v then_o much_o to_o be_v say_v and_o great_a difference_n also_o between_o moses_n his_o place_n when_o he_o say_v that_o god_n create_v all_o in_o the_o beginning_n and_o this_o when_o it_o be_v say_v that_o that_o word_n be_v in_o the_o beginning_n for_o moses_n speak_v of_o the_o creature_n which_o have_v their_o beginning_n to_o be_v at_o a_o certain_a time_n but_o here_o saint_n john_n speak_v not_o of_o any_o thing_n but_o of_o god_n which_o can_v not_o be_v without_o his_o eternity_n and_o everlastingness_n wherefore_o we_o must_v conclude_v that_o this_o beginning_n have_v not_o any_o beginning_n and_o hereby_o we_o see_v that_o jesus_n christ_n have_v be_v always_o it_o be_v as_o much_o then_o 3.16_o jesus_n christ_n be_v our_o god_n eternal_a 1._o tim._n 3.16_o as_o if_o saint_n john_n have_v say_v that_o jesus_n christ_n be_v our_o eternal_a god_n who_o have_v appear_v and_o be_v make_v manifest_a unto_o we_o in_o the_o flesh_n as_o also_o saint_n paul_n speak_v thereof_o now_o he_o add_v afterwards_o this_o word_n be_v with_o god_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v you_o must_v of_o necessity_n separate_v and_o distinguish_v he_o from_o all_o creature_n mark_v the_o purpose_n of_o the_o evangelist_n he_o shall_v say_v when_o i_o speak_v unto_o you_o of_o this_o word_n you_o must_v come_v to_o god_n for_o it_o be_v in_o god_n let_v we_o then_o regard_n and_o consider_v it_o as_o a_o certain_a eternity_n or_o everlastingness_n which_o be_v not_o in_o the_o creature_n neither_o in_o the_o heaven_n nor_o in_o the_o earth_n nor_o in_o any_o thing_n whatsoever_o and_o notwithstanding_o all_o this_o yet_o so_o it_o be_v that_o the_o evangelist_n in_o this_o place_n set_v out_o unto_o we_o 2.5_o the_o father_n distincted_a from_o the_o son_n not_o in_o essence_n but_o in_o person_n 1._o word_n be_v eternal_a for_o if_o a_o man_n begin_v to_o do_v some_o thing_n we_o can_v thereupon_o say_v that_o he_o be_v not_o before_o that_o if_o this_o be_v true_a in_o creature_n what_o will_v it_o be_v when_o we_o shall_v come_v to_o god_n so_o than_o albeit_o that_o word_n of_o god_n have_v not_o spread_v abroad_o &_o make_v manifest_a the_o power_n thereof_o before_o the_o creation_n &_o this_o word_n by_o be_v attribute_v only_o unto_o jesus_n christ_n true_a it_o be_v that_o when_o we_o speak_v of_o god_n single_o and_o by_o himself_o and_o without_o distinction_n of_o the_o have_v already_o speak_v of_o that_o be_v that_o all_o thing_n be_v of_o god_n the_o father_n but_o that_o jesus_n christ_n be_v the_o mean_a thereof_o mark_v then_o what_o s_n john_n mean_v as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v that_o god_n by_o his_o word_n have_v make_v all_o thing_n wherefore_o god_n show_v that_o he_o be_v the_o fountain_n of_o they_o all_o and_o that_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v that_o he_o shall_v make_v and_o create_v all_o thing_n but_o yet_o by_o the_o mean_a and_o power_n of_o that_o his_o word_n and_o without_o it_o nothing_o be_v make_v of_o that_o which_o be_v make_v sainte_n john_n come_v here_o too_o repeat_v the_o same_o sentence_n not_o only_o because_o it_o be_v his_o custom_n to_o repeat_v one_o &_o the_o self_n same_o thing_n after_o two_o sort_n repetition_n two_o cause_n of_o s._n johns_n repetition_n but_o also_o by_o reason_n of_o man_n ingratitude_n and_o unthankfulness_n for_o albeit_o that_o it_o say_v unto_o they_o that_o god_n make_v all_o thing_n by_o his_o word_n yet_o they_o do_v not_o at_o the_o first_o conceive_v understande_v or_o believe_v the_o same_o we_o see_v that_o god_n creature_n touch_v we_o not_o to_o the_o quick_a and_o that_o we_o be_v so_o dull_a and_o so_o blockishe_a in_o our_o understanding_n that_o we_o be_v not_o able_a too_o comprehend_v these_o thing_n even_o in_o such_o plain_n and_o simple_a sort_n as_o they_o be_v propound_v and_o set_v out_o unto_o us._n wherefore_o s._n john_n that_o he_o may_v the_o better_o express_v the_o same_o unto_o we_o add_v without_o it_o nothing_o be_v make_v humility_n the_o dulness_n of_o man_n wit_n in_o god_n matter_n shall_v teach_v we_o true_a humility_n of_o that_o which_o be_v make_v as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v sure_o we_o be_v accurse_v if_o we_o do_v not_o receive_v this_o eternal_a word_n of_o god_n see_v that_o by_o it_o it_o be_v that_o we_o have_v be_v create_v yea_o that_o all_o the_o world_n have_v be_v make_v the_o heaven_n the_o star_n and_o the_o earth_n which_o bring_v forth_o for_o we_o our_o food_n and_o nourishment_n to_o be_v short_a that_o all_o good_a thing_n have_v be_v give_v we_o by_o the_o mean_n of_o this_o word_n so_o then_o see_v we_o perceive_v that_o our_o life_n proceed_v from_o thence_o we_o must_v whole_o keep_v ourselves_o fast_o thereto_o and_o cast_v from_o we_o all_o that_o that_o man_n will_v set_v before_o we_o to_o the_o contrary_n this_o be_v here_o a_o double_a exposition_n in_o respect_n of_o the_o place_n of_o the_o word_n not_o that_o they_o be_v change_v but_o because_o we_o have_v diverse_o dispose_v and_o place_v they_o our_o sort_n read_v it_o thus_o scripture_n we_o must_v heed_v lie_v look_v how_o word_n and_o matter_n be_v place_v in_o the_o scripture_n that_o by_o that_o word_n all_o thing_n be_v make_v and_o that_o without_o it_o nothing_o be_v make_v and_o end_v there_o their_o sentence_n afterwards_o they_o add_v all_o that_o which_o be_v make_v be_v life_n in_o it_o but_o this_o declaration_n be_v not_o apt_o set_v it_o be_v true_a that_o the_o sense_n which_o they_o geve_v be_v indeed_o almost_o all_o one_o for_o they_o have_v in_o a_o manner_n the_o same_o exposition_n that_o we_o have_v but_o the_o manner_n of_o speech_n be_v very_o strange_a for_o it_o be_v not_o say_v of_o the_o creature_n that_o they_o be_v life_n but_o that_o be_v attribute_v unto_o god_n as_o saint_n paul_n say_v in_o his_o epistle_n to_o the_o roman_n 8.10_o rom._n 8.10_o that_o the_o spirit_n be_v life_n by_o reason_n of_o the_o freedom_n that_o have_v be_v bestow_v upon_o we_o by_o jesus_n christ_n to_o be_v short_a though_o we_o shall_v view_v all_o the_o holy_a scripture_n yet_o we_o shall_v never_o find_v that_o it_o be_v say_v that_o we_o be_v life_n in_o ourselves_o life_n there_o be_v a_o double_a life_n even_o in_o this_o life_n but_o that_o god_n only_o have_v life_n and_o that_o not_o only_o the_o spiritual_a life_n but_o even_o that_o life_n from_o which_o all_o thing_n have_v their_o be_v 17.28_o act._n 17.28_o and_o by_o which_o we_o live_v and_o that_o we_o have_v life_n and_o breath_n in_o he_o as_o i_o have_v already_o allege_v out_o of_o s._n paul_n saying_n and_o by_o this_o we_o see_v the_o truth_n of_o this_o sentence_n to_o wit_n that_o nothing_o of_o all_o that_o which_o be_v make_v be_v make_v without_o that_o word_n of_o before_o hand_n and_o wherefore_o he_o must_v be_v good_a that_o eat_v this_o will_v they_o say_v the_o devil_n certain_o possess_v they_o and_o yet_o not_o withstand_v they_o will_v allege_v place_n of_o scripture_n and_o abuse_v they_o scripture_n the_o devil_n and_o his_o instrument_n do_v continual_o wrest_v the_o scripture_n to_o prove_v their_o foolish_a speculation_n withal_o now_o i_o he_o mind_v to_o set_v out_o two_o diverse_a thing_n that_o be_v too_o say_v that_o as_o all_o be_v once_o create_v by_o the_o power_n of_o that_o word_n of_o god_n so_o all_o thing_n continue_v and_o be_v preserve_v by_o that_o power_n and_o by_o the_o same_o mean_a and_o these_o be_v 2._o matter_n which_o it_o behoove_v we_o well_o to_o consider_v and_o way_n mark_v two_o thing_n worthy_a to_o be_v mark_v the_o one_o that_o we_o have_v our_o beginning_n and_o life_n by_o this_o word_n the_o other_o that_o we_o be_v uphold_v
&_o so_o by_o consequent_a of_o his_o righteousness_n now_o saint_n paul_n show_v that_o this_o temporal_a life_n hinder_v not_o but_o that_o we_o may_v always_o live_v that_o be_v to_o say_v may_v always_o have_v full_a assurance_n in_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o why_o so_o he_o bring_v we_o here_o the_o word_n of_o faith_n which_o be_v a_o word_n very_o worthy_a to_o be_v well_o weigh_v for_o he_o mean_v and_o show_v by_o the_o word_n faith_n in_o this_o place_n that_o self_n same_o thing_n which_o be_v describe_v and_o set_v out_o at_o large_a unto_o we_o in_o the_o epistle_n to_o the_o hebrew_n where_o it_o be_v say_v 11.1_o hebr._n 11.1_o that_o faith_n be_v the_o evidence_n of_o thing_n that_o be_v not_o see_v and_o the_o substance_n or_o ground_n of_o thing_n that_o appear_v not_o and_o yet_o be_v hope_v for_o wherefore_o see_v that_o faith_n respect_v that_o which_o be_v invisible_a &_o can_v be_v see_v let_v we_o not_o dismay_v ourselves_o or_o wonder_n at_o this_o that_o we_o live_v in_o death_n and_o that_o we_o be_v in_o heaven_n &_o be_v citizen_n of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n although_o we_o shall_v dwell_v in_o this_o world_n &_o shall_v walk_v &_o creep_v upon_o the_o earth_n with_o bruit_n beast_n and_o this_o also_o be_v that_o which_o s._n paul_n speak_v well_o of_o 8.24_o rom._n 8.24_o in_o the_o eight_o of_o the_o roman_n for_o that_o which_o he_o speak_v there_o of_o hope_n may_v also_o be_v understand_v &_o that_o right_o of_o faith_n because_o they_o be_v thing_n that_o can_v be_v sunder_v for_o he_o say_v that_o we_o hope_v not_o for_o those_o thing_n which_o we_o see_v for_o i_o ought_v not_o to_o hope_v for_o that_o which_o i_o hold_v in_o my_o hand_n and_o have_v in_o possession_n because_o that_o i_o behold_v see_v and_o enjoy_v the_o same_o but_o i_o hope_v for_o that_o which_o be_v hold_v from_o i_o wherefore_o our_o salvation_n must_v needs_o be_v hide_v otherwise_o we_o shall_v have_v neither_o faith_n that_o he_o be_v not_o able_a any_o long_o to_o endure_v it_o apply_v a_o fit_a similitude_n well_o pursue_v and_o apply_v he_o will_v submit_v himself_o to_o the_o physician_n and_o will_v bind_v and_o tie_v himself_o to_o receive_v these_o thing_n which_o shall_v be_v sharp_a &_o bitter_a unto_o he_o he_o that_o be_v merry_a &_o make_v good_a cheer_n will_v not_o go_v to_o seek_v the_o judgement_n none_o can_v come_v right_o to_o christ_n but_o such_o as_o be_v wound_v with_o god_n judgement_n for_o until_o such_o time_n as_o god_n judgement_n have_v in_o such_o sort_n wound_v we_o that_o we_o be_v as_o it_o be_v poor_a scatter_v &_o lose_a people_n &_o to_o be_v short_a that_o we_o be_v as_o it_o be_v drown_v or_o swallow_a up_o in_o death_n we_o will_v never_o come_v in_o good_a earnest_n to_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n it_o be_v true_a that_o this_o doctrine_n may_v well_o be_v receive_v and_o that_o they_o which_o shall_v hear_v thereof_o will_v bow_v their_o ear_n and_o hearken_v when_o some_o shall_v say_v to_o they_o that_o there_o be_v no_o other_o righteousness_n but_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n there_o be_v very_o many_o scoffer_n and_o jester_n that_o allow_v this_o but_o it_o shall_v not_o be_v in_o truth_n for_o there_o be_v nothing_o but_o hypocrisy_n and_o dissimulation_n amongst_o they_o let_v we_o then_o hold_v this_o fast_n that_o we_o must_v begin_v at_o this_o end_n when_o we_o will_v know_v wherein_o our_o salvation_n stand_v and_o how_o so_o for_o we_o must_v of_o necessity_n strive_v to_o attain_v that_o god_n feel_v of_o themselves_o a_o sleep_n as_o it_o be_v in_o their_o own_o hypocrisy_n s._n paul_n do_v in_o a_o manner_n thunder_n against_o they_o that_o justify_v themselves_o and_o flatter_v themselves_o say_v think_v thou_o that_o god_n accept_v man_n person_n thou_o presume_v indeed_o to_o condemn_v other_o and_o who_o or_o what_o be_v thou_o very_o dust_n &_o yet_o thou_o take_v upon_o thou_o the_o office_n of_o judge_v and_o will_v needs_o have_v this_o authority_n when_o thou_o thyself_o can_v not_o be_v exempt_v from_o the_o judgement_n of_o god_n mark_v then_o how_o it_o behoove_v we_o to_o be_v awake_v and_o stir_v up_o that_o we_o seek_v not_o our_o righteousness_n any_o where_o else_o nor_o by_o any_o other_o mean_v but_o only_o by_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o that_o we_o learn_v right_o to_o examime_v our_o life_n and_o not_o only_o to_o go_v beyond_o a_o certain_a free_a and_o willing_a condemnation_n of_o ourselves_o as_o transgressor_n of_o the_o law_n and_o blame_v worthy_a before_o god_n ourselves_o before_o god_n mercy_n can_v be_v sweet_a unto_o we_o we_o must_v be_v wonderful_o cast_v down_o in_o ourselves_o but_o to_o be_v altogether_o confound_v and_o move_v with_o such_o a_o astonishment_n that_o we_o shall_v not_o know_v on_o which_o side_n to_o turn_v behold_v i_o say_v how_o we_o may_v geve_v open_v and_o entertainment_n to_o the_o the_o law_n as_o though_o s._n paul_n speak_v of_o nothing_o but_o the_o ceremony_n that_o i_o say_v have_v be_v in_o part_n reproove_v and_o handle_v and_o we_o have_v declare_v that_o so_o to_o take_v the_o word_n be_v a_o overfoule_n folly_n and_o indeed_o paul_n mean_v no_o other_o thing_n in_o this_o place_n then_o that_o which_o be_v say_v in_o the_o hundred_o forty_o and_o three_o
