such_o vile_a and_o filthy_a place_n as_o be_v here_o upon_o earth_n answ_n 1_o to_o this_o i_o answer_v god_n do_v not_o think_v it_o any_o disparagement_n to_o he_o nor_o think_v it_o unworthy_a of_o he_o to_o know_v and_o make_v all_o these_o which_o we_o call_v vile_a and_o filthy_a place_n why_o then_o shall_v we_o think_v it_o unworthy_a of_o he_o to_o be_v present_a there_o god_n be_v a_o spirit_n and_o be_v not_o capable_a of_o any_o pollution_n or_o defilement_n from_o any_o vile_a or_o filthy_a thing_n the_o sunbeam_n be_v no_o more_o taint_v by_o shine_v on_o a_o dunghill_n dishonour_n upon_o god_n to_o be_v present_a with_o the_o vile_a creature_n than_o to_o be_v present_a with_o the_o noble_a and_o high_a because_o the_o angel_n be_v at_o a_o infinite_a distance_n from_o god_n there_o be_v a_o great_a disproportion_n between_o god_n and_o the_o angel_n than_o there_o be_v between_o the_o vile_a worm_n and_o a_o angel_n all_o be_v at_o a_o infinite_a distance_n to_o his_o glory_n and_o majesty_n thus_o much_o for_o the_o objection_n application_n use_v 1_o first_o be_v god_n thus_o infinite_o present_v everywhere_o and_o thus_o in_o and_o with_o all_o his_o creature_n than_o what_o a_o encouragement_n be_v here_o unto_o prayer_n thou_o can_v not_o say_v alas_o i_o now_o pray_v but_o how_o shall_v god_n hear_v he_o be_v in_o heaven_n above_o and_o i_o in_o heaven_n it_o give_v our_o thought_n a_o lift_v to_o heaven_n now_o this_o do_v not_o imply_v that_o god_n do_v no_o where_n hear_v our_o prayer_n but_o only_o in_o heaven_n but_o how_o then_o his_o servant_n here_o on_o earth_n therefore_o the_o scripture_n direct_v we_o to_o that_o most_o glorious_a and_o celestial_a place_n hear_v thou_o in_o heaven_n hence_o we_o have_v that_o though_o he_o hear_v they_o wherever_o they_o be_v utter_v yet_o he_o no_o where_n hear_v they_o with_o acceptation_n but_o in_o heaven_n only_o our_o prayer_n be_v accept_v by_o god_n because_o they_o be_v hear_v in_o heaven_n thy_o prayer_n be_v not_o accept_v by_o god_n because_o god_n hear_v they_o upon_o earth_n as_o they_o be_v hear_v in_o thy_o closet_n or_o as_o they_o be_v hear_v in_o thy_o heart_n but_o only_o as_o they_o be_v hear_v in_o heaven_n and_o the_o reason_n be_v because_o that_o prayer_n be_v acceptable_a only_o as_o they_o be_v present_v before_o god_n in_o the_o mediation_n and_o intercession_n of_o jesus_n christ_n he_o must_v mingle_v they_o with_o the_o incense_n of_o his_o merit_n before_o they_o can_v ascend_v up_o before_o god_n as_o a_o sweet_a savour_n now_o christ_n perform_v his_o mediatory_a office_n no_o where_o but_o in_o heaven_n for_o though_o as_o god_n he_o be_v everywhere_o present_n as_o the_o father_n be_v and_o therefore_o hear_v your_o prayer_n wheresoever_o they_o be_v put_v up_o yet_o as_o mediator_n they_o be_v only_o hear_v in_o heaven_n by_o he_o and_o he_o hear_v no_o prayer_n but_o the_o prayer_n of_o his_o people_n as_o he_o be_v mediator_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v no_o comfort_n to_o you_o that_o christ_n hear_v your_o prayer_n as_o he_o be_v god_n only_o for_o so_o he_o do_v and_o can_v but_o do_v be_v present_a in_o the_o room_n with_o i_o even_o in_o the_o congregation_n with_o i_o and_o likewise_o in_o my_o closet_n and_o in_o all_o my_o converse_n and_o deal_n in_o the_o world_n how_o can_v it_o be_v possible_a for_o that_o man_n to_o be_v frothy_a and_o vain_a that_o keep_v this_o thought_n alive_a in_o his_o heart_n if_o the_o presence_n of_o some_o earthly_a person_n strike_v a_o awe_n in_o our_o heart_n when_o we_o come_v before_o they_o how_o much_o more_o shall_v the_o consideration_n of_o god_n presence_n affect_v we_o with_o a_o holy_a fear_n suppose_v a_o angel_n shall_v affect_v we_o and_o fill_v we_o with_o holy_a fear_n that_o god_n be_v now_o and_o always_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o we_o who_o glory_n stain_v and_o sully_n the_o beauty_n and_o extinguish_v the_o light_n of_o angel_n oh_o that_o god_n that_o be_v always_o present_a with_o we_o shall_v be_v worship_v and_o serve_v with_o a_o holy_a fear_n and_o remember_v with_o the_o great_a veneration_n now_o to_o imprint_v this_o the_o more_o deep_o i_o shall_v suggest_v two_o or_o three_o particular_n first_o because_o god_n be_v in_o all_o thing_n therefore_o he_o see_v and_o know_v all_o thing_n the_o they_o will_v but_o work_v a_o while_n and_o tell_v they_o on_o the_o other_o hand_n that_o they_o shall_v never_o enter_v into_o rest_n if_o they_o do_v not_o work_v that_o they_o shall_v never_o enjoy_v more_o ease_n than_o what_o they_o can_v find_v in_o hell_n itself_o where_o their_o groan_n and_o bellow_n together_o with_o the_o smoke_n of_o that_o bottomless_a pit_n shall_v ascend_v up_o for_o ever_o yet_o such_o be_v the_o madness_n of_o man_n folly_n that_o neither_o the_o rest_n of_o heaven_n nor_o the_o restlessness_n of_o hell_n can_v stir_v or_o move_v they_o but_o they_o roll_v corruption_n you_o can_v think_v so_o unless_o you_o think_v you_o be_v always_o to_o live_v in_o this_o world_n no_o there_o be_v a_o rest_n remain_v for_o the_o people_n of_o god_n after_o a_o few_o short_a day_n be_v go_v it_o be_v not_o therefore_o your_o ease_n that_o you_o seek_v when_o you_o will_v not_o work_v no_o it_o be_v rather_o your_o pain_n and_o eternal_a torment_n which_o shall_v certain_o then_o be_v give_v unto_o all_o slothful_a person_n when_o the_o industrious_a and_o painful_a christian_a that_o labour_n and_o work_n for_o salvation_n shall_v be_v admit_v into_o the_o our_o god_n because_o it_o be_v possible_a to_o lose_v his_o love_n and_o the_o sense_n of_o it_o though_o we_o stand_v full_o possess_v of_o his_o favour_n second_o though_o god_n be_v our_o god_n and_o turn_v his_o displeasure_n against_o we_o yea_o again_o though_o we_o shall_v be_v preserve_v from_o sin_n and_o continue_v in_o his_o love_n yet_o we_o can_v assure_v ourselves_o that_o we_o shall_v continue_v in_o the_o sense_n and_o comfortable_a apprehension_n of_o it_o comfort_n be_v most_o arbitrary_a and_o at_o god_n free_a dispose_n neither_o have_v he_o engage_v himself_o to_o
