and finde it that all thy Promises are freely made and undoubtedly belong unto me are all as one easily to be performed by hee that as thou never hast thou never wilt faile in performing any one of them unto me I have thine owne hand to shew for them thine owne oath confirmes them thy Ministers at thy command Preach that thou wilt fulfill them thy Christ himselfe imployed his own Ministery for more assurance of them the death of him the Testator yet the noe ratifies them the earnest of thy spirit assures my right to them the Law cannot disanull them thou hast in thy counsell Sonne Sacraments and by thy spirit sealed them experience in all Ages further Testisies thy keeping of them thine in greatest extremity have made and ever make them their stay chiefly Thou who promisest art goodnesse it selfe most willing able and true to performe them thou who promisest art Omnipresent omniscient most wise holy just abhorrest destroyest the unjust lovest blessest the just decreeest willest workest all for the glorifying of thy selfe according to thy word and by thine owne especiall providence ordaynest and orderest all things in most remarkable manner to manifest unto thine owne that thou ever hast beene art and ever wilt be theyrs for good according to each part of thy immutable truth whatsoever opposeth thou who promisest misest art unchangeable in thy nature attributes promises and wert not God if thou shouldst not exactly and fully keepe thy word it being thus yea as it is thus I can say no more I must humbly and earnestly beseech and urge thee let me in all places upon all occasions in every present and future pressing inward and outward necessity finde favour in thy sight and help at thy hands according to every one of thy most precious promises although I be most unworthy and merit the worst of evills in all extremity yea then even when I am most hopelesse and seeme all never so impossible most especially my Lord my God my Father my Helper be pleased for thine own sake in thy Christ my Jesus as thou hast here plainly expresly and plentifully promised cause me to know remember be ashamed of loath my selfe for be confounded in my selfe for my sins c. If we be desolate and forsaken of friends The Lord will turne unto and not despise our Prayers a. 52 a. 52 Hee wil regard the prayer of the destitute and not despise their Prayer Psal 102.17 7. If we be wronged by others The Lord will deliver us b b For they shal cry unto the Lord because of oppressours and hee shal send them a Saviour and a great one and he shal deliver them Isay 19.20 8. If the wronged Fatherlesse Widow or Stranger doe pray The Lord wil heare their cry c c Thou shalt neither vex a stranger nor oppresse him for yee were strangers in the land of Egypt Yee shal not afflict any widow or fatherlesse child If thou afflict them in any wise and they cry at al unto me I wil surely heare their cry Ex. 22.21.22 23. 9. If we be Hungry or Thirsty The Lord will relieve us d Though he shâ—â— work wonders for us e d Hungry and Thirsty their Soule fainted in them Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble and hee delivered them out of their distresses Psalm 107.5 6. e When the poore and needy seeke wateâ— and there is none and their tongue faileth for Thirst I the Lord wil heaâ— them I the God of Israel wil not for sake them I wil open Rivers in hiâ— places and fountaines in the midst the Vallies I wil make the wildernesse a poole of water and the dryland spriâ—â— of water Isay 41.17 18. 10. If we be in Temptation Wâ—e shall finde mercy grace and helpe iâ— need f f For we have not an high Priest that cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities but was in al points tempted as we are yet without sinne Leâ— us therfore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtaine mercy and finde grace for helpe in time of neede Heb. 4.15.16 11. If wee performe our lawfull Oaths Covenants Contracts and Promises though made to our owne hinderance We are Gods children shall persevere in grace and be saved s s Lord who shall abide in thy Tabernacle Who shall dwell in thy holy hill He in whose eyes a vile person is contemned but hee honoureth them that feare the Lord he that sweareth to his owne hurt and changeth not He that putteth not out his money to Usury nor taketh a reward against the innocent he that doth these things shall never be moved Psalme 15.1.4 5. 12. To executing Justice in Judgement Such shall have long life and happy dayes d The Lord wil assist such in judgement e And blesse them f To doe justice is more acceptable then Sacrifice g It preserveth and ectablisheth the Judge h Maintaineth the Counâ—ry i Procures inward peace and outward quietnesse and great assurance k And honour l And safety m And succour n God will bring such to his house o And accept his service and make him ioyfull thereby p Shall be Justifyed from sin q and saved r d That which is altogether just shall thou follow that thou mayest live and inherit the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee Deut. 16.20 e And hee said to the Judges take heede what you doe for yee judge not for man but for the Lord who is with you in the judgement 2 Chron. 19.6 f Blessed are they that keepe judgement and he that doth righteousnesse at all times Ps 106.3 Thus saith the Lord keepe yee jâ—dgement and doe justice for my salvâ—tion is neere to come and my righteousnessâ— to be revealed Blessed is the man that doth this and the Son of man that layeth hold on it c.
