they_o both_o have_v or_o which_o be_v the_o same_o thing_n the_o person_n have_v the_o same_o affection_n or_o passion_n of_o ambition_n covetousness_n lust_n wrath_n and_o fear_n these_o all_o be_v natural_o ingraft_v in_o the_o person_n and_o be_v natural_a incident_n to_o the_o compositum_fw-la of_o soul_n and_o body_n and_o that_o this_o union_n be_v the_o most_o amicable_a friendly_a and_o please_v that_o man_n know_v to_o be_v enjoy_v in_o our_o earthly_a world_n and_o that_o the_o body_n be_v so_o far_o from_o be_v a_o prison_n or_o cage_n for_o the_o soul_n that_o there_o be_v no_o other_o place_n in_o the_o world_n wherein_o the_o soul_n delight_n or_o wherein_o it_o can_v subsist_v but_o in_o the_o body_n nor_o be_v there_o a_o separation_n which_o we_o know_v in_o the_o earthly_a world_n that_o be_v more_o grievous_a or_o afflictive_a than_o the_o separation_n of_o soul_n and_o body_n be_v common_o find_v to_o be_v to_o the_o person_n who_o be_v a_o compositum_fw-la of_o they_o both_o upon_o which_o consideration_n i_o stand_v incline_v to_o affirm_v that_o the_o person_n who_o be_v a_o compositum_fw-la of_o soul_n and_o body_n and_o those_o his_o two_o constituent_a part_n be_v generate_v together_o be_v bear_v live_v and_o grow_v together_o be_v sick_a and_o well_o together_o and_o so_o be_v please_v and_o displease_v and_o love_n and_o hate_v together_o be_v joyful_a sorrowful_a and_o fearful_a together_o be_v honour_v and_o shame_v together_o they_o decline_v and_o decay_v together_o and_o yet_o the_o outward_n part_v somewhat_o soon_o and_o fast_o than_o the_o inward_a and_o so_o they_o grow_v impotent_a and_o helpless_a together_o that_o they_o die_v together_o and_o that_o last_o they_o shall_v rise_v together_o in_o that_o universal_a resurrection_n which_o shall_v be_v effect_v at_o the_o second_o appear_v of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n when_o he_o shall_v come_v to_o judge_v the_o world_n mr._n w._n here_o quote_v hotb_v agree_v that_o they_o make_v no_o other_o cry_n in_o this_o text_n than_o the_o blood_n of_o abel_n make_v to_o god_n for_o vengeance_n on_o his_o murderer_n and_o i_o conceive_v there_o be_v no_o real_a prayer_n or_o cry_n in_o either_o of_o these_o case_n but_o that_o god_n himself_o have_v take_v special_a notice_n in_o both_o these_o case_n and_o that_o whensoever_o they_o come_v before_o he_o hy_z remembrance_n or_o any_o sort_n of_o re-presentation_n his_o intention_n always_o continue_v firm_a to_o take_v vengeance_n for_o those_o fact_n upon_o all_o those_o who_o have_v in_o the_o lord_n do_v from_o the_o time_n of_o their_o be_v dead_a commence_v a_o blessedness_n not_o only_o in_o rest_v from_o their_o labour_n but_o likewise_o in_o be_v reward_v for_o their_o work_n then_o do_v they_o continue_v to_o live_v in_o some_o part_n of_o they_o which_o be_v their_o spirit_n and_o consequent_o their_o spirit_n die_v not_o with_o their_o body_n but_o be_v immortal_a p._n 120._o mr._n w._n offer_v to_o we_o that_o this_o blessedness_n be_v say_v by_o the_o spirit_n to_o be_v give_v from_o the_o time_n of_o man_n death_n this_o he_o collect_v from_o the_o signification_n of_o the_o word_n from_o henceforth_o as_o if_o that_o intend_v from_o the_o time_n of_o their_o death_n whereas_o it_o appear_v in_o this_o text_n to_o intend_v no_o more_o but_o that_o from_o the_o time_n of_o this_o prophecy_n the_o dead_a which_o die_v in_o the_o lord_n shall_v have_v a_o bless_a rest_n and_o their_o work_n do_v follow_v they_o p._n 121._o then_o mr._n w._n pretend_v that_o the_o dead_a saint_n do_v not_o only_o enjoy_v a_o bless_a rest_n but_o that_o they_o also_o enter_v upon_o and_o enjoy_v reward_n for_o their_o work_n as_o soon_o as_o they_o be_v dead_a but_o i_o find_v no_o ground_n for_o this_o opinion_n in_o the_o text_n but_o conceive_v he_o think_v it_o be_v there_o because_o he_o have_v a_o great_a mind_n it_o shall_v be_v lord_n above_o those_o who_o live_v on_o earth_n in_o the_o lord_n and_o this_o will_v be_v contrary_a to_o the_o sense_n of_o all_o god_n people_n and_o special_o to_o the_o sense_n of_o such_o as_o administer_v comfort_n to_o die_a person_n from_o this_o topick_n by_o tell_v they_o that_o immediate_o after_o death_n their_o soul_n shall_v by_o angel_n be_v transport_v into_o heaven_n or_o paradise_n or_o abraham_n bosom_n or_o some_o such_o place_n where_o they_o shall_v not_o only_o be_v at_o rest_n but_o have_v present_a joy_n and_o happiness_n confer_v upon_o they_o and_o i_o grant_v that_o if_o such_o doctrine_n prove_v otherwise_o than_o true_a many_o person_n may_v have_v be_v deceive_v of_o their_o confident_a expectation_n and_o more_o may_v still_o in_o future_a happen_v so_o to_o be_v and_o therefore_o i_o think_v it_o needful_a to_o take_v further_a consideration_n and_o so_o make_v a_o strict_a scrutiny_n concern_v the_o truth_n of_o this_o doctrine_n upon_o earth_n though_o under_o persecution_n then_o to_o die_v and_o be_v bury_v in_o the_o earth_n he_o say_v it_o be_v evident_a that_o from_o the_o time_n of_o die_v the_o saint_n be_v bless_v with_o reward_n for_o their_o work_n as_o well_o as_o from_o their_o labour_n i_o reply_v i_o be_o very_o sorry_a that_o i_o be_o not_o able_a to_o find_v in_o this_o text_n a_o argument_n or_o any_o of_o his_o former_a the_o thing_n which_o he_o say_v be_v so_o evident_a intend_v i_o presume_v to_o himself_o and_o some_o such_o other_o person_n as_o may_v be_v strong_o fix_v in_o his_o opinion_n and_o belief_n touch_v this_o point_n concern_v which_o and_o this_o text_n i_o intend_v to_o make_v a_o little_a more_o large_a examination_n the_o word_n therefore_o be_v and_o i_o hear_v a_o voice_n from_o heaven_n say_v unto_o i_o write_v bless_a be_v the_o dead_a which_o die_v in_o the_o lord_n from_o henceforth_o yea_o say_v the_o spirit_n that_o they_o may_v rest_v from_o their_o labour_n and_o their_o work_n do_v follow_v they_o i_o do_v not_o find_v in_o this_o text_n any_o word_n which_o signify_v or_o import_v that_o man_n shall_v be_v reward_v for_o their_o work_n present_o after_o death_n otherwise_o than_o by_o a_o bless_a rest_n from_o their_o labour_n it_o be_v say_v indeed_o that_o their_o work_n do_v follow_v they_o but_o there_o be_v no_o time_n from_o henceforth_o in_o this_o text_n by_o apply_v its_o energy_n to_o the_o time_n of_o man_n death_n whereas_o in_o the_o word_n of_o our_o text_n it_o stand_v clear_o apply_v to_o the_o time_n when_o this_o prophecy_n be_v reveal_v to_o st._n john_n and_o whereas_o mr._n w._n say_v that_o none_o of_o god_n saint_n upon_o earth_n will_v willing_o embrace_v death_n but_o rather_o choose_v a_o long_a life_n upon_o earth_n although_o under_o a_o state_n of_o great_a persecution_n if_o they_o do_v not_o expect_v heavenly_a reward_n present_o upon_o the_o death_n of_o their_o person_n and_o he_o say_v you_o shall_v never_o persuade_v people_n to_o a_o content_a departure_n out_o of_o this_o world_n by_o tell_v they_o they_o shall_v present_o enjoy_v a_o bless_a rest_n in_o the_o lord_n and_o therefore_o they_o must_v be_v tell_v of_o and_o persuade_v to_o expect_v glorious_a reward_n in_o heaven_n present_o after_o their_o pass_v out_o of_o this_o world_n i_o confess_v thereupon_o that_o man_n mistake_n upon_o this_o account_n may_v be_v very_o great_a and_o very_o universal_a but_o do_v by_o no_o mean_n believe_v the_o first_o part_n of_o his_o assertion_n viz._n that_o there_o be_v no_o saint_n or_o people_n upon_o earth_n who_o be_v willing_a to_o accept_v of_o death_n whensoever_o god_n shall_v appoint_v it_o to_o come_v upon_o they_o under_o a_o great_a contentment_n of_o mind_n and_o the_o satisfaction_n which_o they_o may_v receive_v from_o this_o text_n that_o they_o shall_v have_v a_o bless_a rest_n in_o the_o lord_n safe_a from_o all_o the_o temptation_n and_o tribulation_n of_o this_o world_n and_o from_o the_o power_n and_o malice_n of_o wicked_a man_n
of_o life_n this_o show_v that_o he_o do_v not_o desire_v death_n in_o hope_n of_o his_o soul_n immediate_a go_v to_o heaven_n but_o rather_o he_o long_v for_o christ_n second_o appear_v when_o all_o practice_n of_o the_o church_n of_o those_o time_n as_o before_o be_v say_v to_o pray_v for_o the_o speedy_a come_v of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n and_o consummation_n of_o the_o mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o thus_o i_o conceive_v i_o have_v better_o expound_v our_o apostle_n text_n and_o give_v a_o true_a mean_v thereof_o than_o mr._n w._n will_v be_v find_v to_o have_v do_v and_o conclude_v thereupon_o that_o this_o text_n can_v give_v but_o a_o feeble_a support_n to_o the_o opinion_n of_o the_o soul_n separate_a subsistence_n p._n 18._o he_o further_o quote_v ver._n 6.7_o whilst_o we_o be_v at_o home_n in_o the_o body_n we_o be_v absent_a from_o the_o lord_n and_o walk_v by_o faith_n not_o by_o sight_n and_o therefore_o we_o be_v will_v rather_o to_o be_v absent_a from_o the_o body_n and_o present_a with_o the_o lord_n the_o mean_v of_o which_o may_v be_v that_o we_o can_v be_v present_a with_o the_o lord_n in_o our_o fleshly_a body_n which_o be_v subject_a to_o corruption_n while_o they_o continue_v in_o their_o natural_a state_n and_o therefore_o he_o desire_v the_o change_n or_o translation_n of_o such_o earthly_a body_n into_o that_o of_o glorious_a or_o heavenly_a body_n which_o shall_v be_v do_v when_o we_o be_v clothe_v upon_o with_o our_o house_n or_o house_n which_o be_v from_o heaven_n by_o change_v our_o earthly_a body_n into_o heavenly_a which_o shall_v be_v perform_v to_o the_o saint_n that_o live_v upon_o earth_n at_o the_o time_n of_o our_o lord_n second_o come_v and_o though_o they_o be_v absent_a from_o the_o lord_n in_o their_o earthly_a body_n yet_o they_o shall_v then_o be_v present_a with_o he_o in_o their_o heavenly_a one_o and_o our_o apostle_n proceed_v say_v ver._n 9_o we_o labour_v that_o whether_o present_a or_o
