this_o by_o labour_v to_o attain_v the_o end_n that_o god_n make_v they_o for_o but_o this_o shall_v suffice_v for_o the_o first_o point_n of_o the_o preciousness_n and_o excellency_n of_o our_o soul_n we_o come_v now_o to_o the_o second_o and_o that_o be_v the_o main_a point_n indeed_o in_o the_o text_n that_o be_v that_o the_o loss_n of_o this_o soul_n be_v a_o most_o dreadful_a loss_n doctor_n 2_o skin_n for_o skin_n yea_o all_o that_o a_o man_n have_v will_v he_o give_v for_o his_o life_n even_o the_o devil_n himself_o can_v say_v so_o the_o loss_n of_o bodily_a life_n we_o of_o evil_n that_o be_v beyond_o the_o evil_n of_o cease_v to_o be_v to_o be_v miserable_a to_o be_v in_o pain_n and_o torture_n be_v worse_a than_o not_o to_o be_v and_o to_o be_v sinful_a be_v worse_a than_o to_o be_v in_o pain_n and_o therefore_o the_o cease_v to_o be_v be_v not_o the_o great_a evil_n what_o be_v the_o loss_n of_o the_o soul_n then_o first_o the_o loss_n of_o the_o soul_n it_o be_v first_o in_o the_o privation_n of_o it_o of_o all_o the_o good_a and_o excellency_n that_o the_o soul_n be_v capable_a of_o the_o privation_n of_o the_o true_a good_a that_o the_o soul_n be_v make_v for_o second_o it_o consist_v in_o its_o depart_n and_o wander_v from_o god_n as_o a_o sheep_n be_v say_v to_o be_v a_o lose_a sheep_n that_o wander_v up_o and_o down_o in_o the_o we_o use_v the_o phrase_n of_o lose_a to_o all_o these_o thing_n when_o a_o man_n have_v lose_v his_o estate_n we_o account_v such_o a_o man_n as_o a_o lose_a man_n and_o when_o a_o man_n be_v bring_v into_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o misery_n that_o heretofore_o be_v in_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o happiness_n we_o account_v such_o a_o man_n to_o be_v a_o lose_a man_n but_o especial_o when_o a_o man_n be_v succourless_a and_o helpless_a when_o he_o have_v no_o way_n to_o help_v and_o relieve_v himself_o than_o he_o be_v a_o lose_a man_n indeed_o and_o according_a to_o the_o degree_n of_o these_o four_o thing_n then_o a_o soul_n may_v be_v say_v to_o
thing_n as_o shall_v be_v call_v god-man_n and_o be_v real_o and_o very_o god_n and_o man_n together_o in_o one_o i_o say_v this_o be_v the_o great_a wonder_n that_o ever_o be_v in_o the_o world_n that_o the_o divine_a and_o humane_a nature_n shall_v be_v join_v together_o that_o we_o shall_v have_v a_o saviour_n that_o be_v as_o very_o man_n as_o god_n and_o as_o very_o god_n as_o man_n that_o those_o two_o nature_n the_o nature_n of_o god_n and_o the_o nature_n of_o man_n shall_v come_v together_o in_o one_o that_o be_v so_o distant_a before_o one_o from_o another_o this_o be_v a_o and_o man_n i_o but_o i_o appeal_v to_o you_o when_o be_v your_o heart_n take_v with_o this_o as_o the_o geat_a wonder_n in_o the_o world_n that_o there_o shall_v be_v ever_o such_o a_o thing_n as_o god_n and_o man_n in_o one_o and_o that_o to_o be_v the_o saviour_n of_o mankind_n that_o man_n that_o be_v miserable_a shall_v look_v up_o to_o god_n to_o save_v he_o look_v up_o to_o the_o mercy_n till_o christ_n come_v and_o the_o second_o wonder_n in_o christian_a religion_n be_v divers_a nature_n in_o one_o person_n that_o be_v in_o christ_n christ_n be_v god-man_n but_o one_o person_n come_v not_o near_o he_o than_o the_o least_o and_o he_o be_v the_o high_a end_n of_o all_o thing_n whatsoever_o and_o this_o god_n be_v our_o god_n this_o be_v the_o god_n that_o we_o profess_v to_o serve_v that_o we_o profess_v to_o worship_n and_o these_o be_v to_o be_v the_o thought_n that_o we_o be_v to_o have_v of_o god_n when_o we_o come_v before_o he_o now_o you_o can_v but_o imagine_v that_o there_o must_v needs_o be_v abundance_n of_o stream_n of_o use_n and_o application_n that_o must_v follow_v from_o these_o thing_n all_o that_o i_o have_v do_v it_o be_v but_o to_o present_v what_o god_n be_v now_o methinks_v i_o hear_v many_o that_o give_v their_o mind_n to_o understand_v what_o god_n be_v even_o say_v within_o themselves_o oh_o that_o we_o do_v but_o acknowledge_v god_n to_o be_v thus_o sure_o there_o be_v a_o far_a excellency_n in_o god_n than_o we_o have_v imagine_v and_o may_v we_o have_v but_o further_a sight_n into_o these_o thing_n that_o have_v be_v thus_o brief_o present_v to_o we_o oh_o of_o what_o excellent_a use_n may_v all_o these_o be_v i_o shall_v endeavour_v therefore_o to_o present_v but_o to_o you_o and_o even_o as_o brief_o as_o i_o have_v do_v the_o other_o the_o several_a use_n that_o may_v flow_v from_o all_o these_o thing_n
i_o will_v only_o give_v you_o a_o hint_n of_o one_o or_o two_o now_o oh_o what_o infinite_a cause_n have_v we_o all_o to_o be_v ashamed_a of_o those_o low_a thought_n we_o have_v have_v of_o god_n use_v if_o god_n be_v thus_o as_o he_o have_v be_v but_o a_o little_a present_v to_o we_o now_o and_o by_o what_o we_o see_v we_o may_v gather_v that_o there_o be_v infinite_o more_o in_o god_n and_o to_o prayer_n as_o unto_o such_o a_o god_n have_v you_o have_v such_o kind_n of_o thought_n as_o these_o be_v that_o he_o be_v that_o high_a majesty_n certain_o you_o can_v sanctify_v god_n name_n but_o you_o must_v have_v high_a thought_n of_o god_n and_o though_o i_o will_v not_o say_v that_o those_o do_v not_o sanctify_v god_n name_n that_o have_v not_o every_o one_o of_o these_o thought_n of_o god_n yet_o thus_o much_o i_o will_v say_v that_o those_o that_o have_v not_o apprehend_v every_o one_o of_o these_o thing_n of_o god_n have_v not_o sanctify_a god_n name_v as_o much_o as_o they_o shall_v for_o we_o be_v to_o apprehend_v what_o it_o be_v possible_a for_o we_o to_o apprehend_v here_o in_o this_o world_n or_o otherwise_o we_o do_v not_o sanctify_v god_n name_n so_o as_o we_o ought_v when_o we_o come_v to_o god_n in_o prayer_n or_o to_o worship_v he_o in_o any_o other_o duty_n of_o his_o worship_n if_o we_o do_v not_o apprehend_v of_o god_n as_o much_o as_o we_o possible_o can_v in_o this_o world_n we_o do_v not_o sanctify_v god_n name_n as_o much_o as_o we_o ought_v to_o do_v and_o we_o be_v to_o be_v ashamed_a that_o we_o have_v not_o such_o apprehension_n shall_v have_v be_v such_o a_o way_n to_o save_v man_n by_o as_o this_o why_o how_o will_v thou_o be_v save_v i_o will_v cry_v to_o god_n for_o mercy_n and_o break_v off_o my_o sin_n and_o be_v sorry_a with_o all_o my_o heart_n why_o if_o this_o be_v the_o way_n there_o be_v no_o wonder_n in_o that_o but_o know_v oh_o thou_o sinner_n whosoever_o thou_o be_v that_o if_o ever_o thou_o be_v he_o as_o music_n good_a cheer_n friend_n estate_n yet_o there_o be_v that_o horror_n and_o torment_n in_o his_o spirit_n sometime_o through_o the_o consciousness_n of_o the_o guilt_n of_o sin_n that_o they_o be_v in_o and_o how_o the_o devil_n have_v gull_v and_o deceive_v they_o all_o this_o while_n it_o may_v make_v many_o soul_n to_o be_v at_o a_o stand_n if_o they_o come_v to_o know_v what_o this_o loss_n indeed_o do_v mean_v now_o i_o shall_v endeavour_v the_o open_n of_o this_o in_o the_o three_o last_o particular_n that_o i_o name_v first_o for_o the_o rejection_n of_o the_o soul_n from_o god_n so_o as_o to_o be_v deprive_v of_o all_o the_o good_a there_o be_v in_o god_n and_o that_o it_o be_v capable_a of_o now_o for_o the_o understanding_n of_o the_o evil_a of_o this_o we_o must_v inquire_v what_o be_v that_o good_a that_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n be_v capable_a of_o or_o else_o we_o can_v come_v to_o understand_v what_o a_o evil_a thing_n it_o be_v to_o lose_v it_o now_o for_o the_o good_a that_o the_o soul_n be_v capable_a of_o i_o will_v but_o only_o name_v some_o head_n unto_o you_o for_o in_o a_o treatise_n that_o some_o of_o you_o have_v in_o your_o hand_n give_v unto_o we_o that_o be_v our_o worship_n that_o be_v the_o nature_n of_o worship_n the_o tender_v up_o something_o by_o way_n of_o homage_n to_o acknowledge_v that_o due_a respect_n we_o owe_v unto_o god_n as_o that_o lord_n that_o have_v the_o absolute_a dispose_n of_o we_o now_o by_o neglect_n of_o worship_v of_o god_n of_o tender_v up_o his_o homage_n thou_o forfeite_v thy_o soul_n and_o be_v that_o which_o god_n require_v of_o we_o or_o otherwise_o our_o soul_n be_v forfeit_v second_o man_n forfeit_v their_o soul_n by_o break_v covenant_n with_o god_n however_o there_o may_v be_v have_v do_v that_o then_o their_o soul_n will_v be_v lose_v first_o in_o the_o first_o place_n that_o soul_n to_o who_o god_n have_v not_o make_v know_v and_o convince_v it_o of_o the_o dangerous_a deal_n of_o fervency_n of_o spirit_n as_o a_o matter_n of_o infinite_a concernment_n so_o in_o matth._n 10.17_o when_o he_o be_v go_v forth_o into_o the_o way_n there_o come_v one_o run_v and_o inquire_v sincere_o with_o a_o heart_n true_o willing_a to_o do_v whatsoever_o god_n shall_v make_v know_v to_o you_o we_o be_v this_o day_n about_o this_o great_a question_n what_o a_o man_n shall_v salvation_n second_o the_o salvation_n of_o a_o soul_n be_v the_o most_o difficult_a thing_n in_o the_o world_n if_o ever_o thy_o soul_n be_v save_v it_o must_v cost_v more_o than_o heaven_n and_o be_v say_v that_o there_o shall_v be_v but_o few_o save_v the_o flock_n of_o christ_n be_v but_o a_o little_a flock_n the_o word_n in_o the_o original_n be_v two_o diminutive_n and_o may_v be_v translate_v a_o little_a little_a flock_n oh_o it_o concern_v you_o all_o to_o look_v about_o you_o but_o now_o these_o thing_n be_v premise_v for_o the_o put_n of_o you_o on_o to_o the_o inquire_n
