conscience_n of_o humane_a office_n and_o duty_n which_o he_o will_v have_v preserve_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o they_o and_o such_o also_o as_o he_o have_v use_v for_o his_o more_o holy_a and_o honourable_a instrument_n for_o the_o direction_n and_o instigation_n of_o his_o people_n from_o time_n to_o time_n to_o walk_v not_o only_o in_o humanity_n but_o even_o in_o christian_a mercy_n &_o compassion_n towards_o their_o brethren_n in_o a_o holy_a communion_n of_o saint_n before_o he_o not_o for_o necessity_n of_o proof_n or_o for_o power_n of_o persuasion_n as_o if_o the_o holy_a scripture_n be_v not_o alone_o sufficient_a to_o every_o holy_a use_n both_o of_o doctrine_n reprehension_n comfort_n and_o exhortation_n but_o that_o every_o one_o that_o will_v not_o shut_v his_o together_o and_o be_v like_o again_o to_o renew_v upon_o we_o if_o we_o call_v not_o the_o more_o earnest_o upon_o god_n for_o mercy_n and_o if_o we_o shall_v not_o more_o unfeigned_o repent_v of_o we_o can_v neither_o be_v sanctify_v ourselves_o not_o any_o thing_n which_o we_o enjoy_v nor_o have_v any_o poor_a saint_n at_o all_o to_o be_v relieve_v and_o then_o what_o great_a thing_n be_v it_o verse_n one_o of_o thy_o brethren_n with_o thou_o be_v poor_a within_o any_o of_o the_o gate_n of_o thy_o land_n which_o the_o lord_n thy_o god_n give_v thou_o thou_o shall_v not_o harden_v thy_o heart_n nor_o shut_v thy_o hand_n from_o thy_o poor_a brother_n but_o thou_o shall_v open_v thy_o hand_n unto_o he_o &_o shall_v lend_v he_o sufficient_a for_o his_o need_n which_o he_o have_v the_o gospel_n nay_o rather_o we_o have_v good_a reason_n to_o persuade_v ourselves_o that_o his_o care_n be_v rather_o more_o fatherly_a and_o tender_a according_a to_o the_o more_o clear_a revelation_n of_o his_o own_o bowellike_a compassion_n and_o mercy_n by_o the_o appearance_n of_o his_o son_n no_o doubt_n but_o both_o the_o poor_a of_o the_o gospel_n who_o be_v most_o tender_o love_v and_o precious_o esteem_v of_o the_o lord_n and_o also_o the_o gospel_n itself_o which_o be_v the_o most_o bright_a shine_a wisdom_n &_o the_o most_o gracious_a power_n of_o god_n to_o the_o salvation_n of_o all_o his_o people_n both_o poor_a &_o rich_a they_o ought_v more_o mighty_o to_o allure_v and_o draw_v we_o all_o to_o so_o much_o the_o more_o willing_a and_o bountiful_a contribution_n so_o far_o as_o the_o

nabal_n for_o a_o notorious_a example_n but_o beside_o these_o there_o be_v also_o other_o vice_n of_o this_o former_a sort_n as_o distrust_v in_o god_n providence_n trust_v in_o a_o man_n own_o forecast_n self-love_n pride_n voluptuousness_n and_o such_o like_a second_o the_o vice_n which_o corrupt_a and_o pervert_v christian_a beneficence_n they_o be_v in_o the_o worse_a sort_n of_o man_n hypocrisy_n join_v with_o colourable_a covetousness_n under_o pretence_n of_o frank_a and_o free_a liberality_n like_v to_o that_o of_o ananias_n &_o sapphira_n his_o wife_n act._n 5._o and_o together_o with_o hypocrisy_n vain_a glory_n in_o hunt_v after_o the_o praise_n of_o man_n and_o proud_a conceit_n of_o worthiness_n and_o merit_n even_o before_o god_n himself_o also_o when_o beneficence_n if_o so_o it_o may_v be_v call_v be_v apply_v to_o countenance_n and_o advance_v idolatrous_a religion_n or_o superstitious_a tradition_n and_o ceremony_n in_o the_o true_a worship_n of_o god_n furthermore_o when_o alm_n be_v give_v of_o ill_o get_v good_n special_o if_o they_o be_v give_v with_o a_o mind_n to_o make_v satisfaction_n to_o god_n for_o the_o fraud_n which_o have_v be_v do_v to_o man_n last_o of_o all_o when_o any_o thing_n be_v give_v with_o a_o mind_n expect_v and_o long_v after_o a_o like_a or_o great_a worldly_a recompense_n these_o be_v then_o corrupt_v vice_n in_o the_o worse_a sort_n of_o man_n and_o in_o the_o better_a sort_n they_o may_v be_v these_o which_o follow_v first_o indiscreet_a and_o wasteful_a give_v as_o to_o counterfeit_v poor_a or_o to_o vagrant_a and_o inordinate_a person_n with_o neglect_n of_o such_o as_o be_v poor_a honest_a inhabitant_n and_o householder_n second_o a_o secure_a presumption_n in_o god_n providence_n with_o neglect_n of_o prayer_n to_o god_n for_o the_o uphold_v of_o our_o estate_n and_o without_o due_a regard_n of_o use_v diligence_n in_o the_o labour_n of_o our_o calling_n and_o without_o thrifty_a employ_v of_o commodity_n to_o the_o best_a advantage_n such_o as_o be_v honest_a &_o lawful_a or_o when_o any_o do_v put_v forth_o themselves_o above_o their_o ability_n final_o neglect_v of_o thankfulness_n to_o god_n for_o former_a blessing_n and_o prosperity_n all_o which_o vice_n partly_o as_o open_v &_o profess_a adversary_n and_o destroyer_n and_o partly_o as_o secret_a &_o undermine_v conspirator_n they_o must_v be_v both_o mighty_o and_o also_o wary_o resist_v and_o prevent_v of_o all_o such_o as_o mind_v not_o only_o to_o enter_v but_o also_o hold_v out_o constant_a in_o the_o right_a christian_a course_n of_o this_o excellent_a and_o noble_a virtue_n of_o godly_a beneficence_n the_o which_o god_n have_v so_o gracious_o command_v and_o commend_v to_o we_o and_o which_o his_o servant_n have_v obedient_o track_v and_o tread_v forth_o before_o us._n thus_o finish_v this_o second_o chapter_n let_v we_o proceed_v to_o the_o rest_n of_o our_o treatise_n worship_n the_o reward_n of_o give_v to_o god_n worship_n chap._n iii_o of_o the_o reward_n of_o right_a christian_n give_v see_v god_n who_o be_v of_o infinite_a mercy_n most_o rich_a and_o bountiful_a in_o all_o good_a gift_n and_o grace_n command_v all_o such_o as_o have_v god_n plenty_n as_o it_o be_v common_o and_o right_o term_v that_o they_o be_v liberal_a in_o give_v and_o see_v he_o promise_v also_o that_o he_o will_v of_o his_o divine_a bounty_n reward_v the_o same_o it_o can_v be_v but_o that_o he_o will_v indeed_o plentiful_o recompense_v all_o such_o as_o shall_v obey_v the_o same_o his_o holy_a commandment_n and_o will_v believe_v that_o gracious_a promise_n which_o he_o have_v make_v in_o this_o behalf_n this_o therefore_o let_v we_o now_o henceforth_o consider_v in_o this_o chapter_n to_o the_o end_n that_o hereby_o through_o the_o blessing_n of_o god_n we_o may_v both_o help_v forward_o this_o virtue_n in_o the_o heart_n and_o hand_n of_o those_o that_o be_v over-slack_a &_o negligent_a and_o also_o that_o we_o may_v comfort_v and_o encourage_v both_o heart_n and_o hand_n of_o all_o which_o by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n be_v already_o prompt_a and_o diligent_a that_o they_o may_v never_o wax_v faint_a and_o weary_a till_o they_o have_v attain_v to_o the_o full_a recompense_n of_o that_o most_o gracious_a and_o free_a reward_n which_o from_o the_o bounteous_a &_o never_o weary_v heart_n and_o hand_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v thereunto_o promise_v and_o assure_v in_o speak_v of_o which_o free_a blessing_n of_o reward_n let_v we_o hold_v the_o same_o order_n which_o be_v observe_v in_o treat_v of_o the_o duty_n first_o therefore_o concern_v those_o which_o be_v liberal_a in_o such_o manner_n as_o have_v be_v describe_v to_o the_o maintenance_n of_o god_n pure_a religion_n and_o worship_n and_o for_o the_o same_o cause_n have_v any_o special_a care_n to_o encourage_v and_o further_o the_o faithful_a minister_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n in_o their_o holy_a ministry_n or_o any_o other_o of_o god_n faithful_a servant_n let_v we_o see_v how_o the_o reward_n of_o such_o be_v assure_v unto_o they_o first_o from_o those_o christ_n to_o his_o disciple_n who_o he_o mind_v to_o employ_v in_o the_o preach_n of_o his_o gospel_n receive_v i_o and_o he_o that_o receive_v i_o receive_v he_o that_o send_v i_o he_o that_o receive_v a_o prophet_n in_o the_o name_n of_o a_o prophet_n shall_v receive_v a_o prophet_n reward_n and_o he_o that_o receive_v a_o righteous_a man_n in_o the_o name_n of_o a_o righteous_a man_n shall_v receive_v the_o reward_n of_o a_o righteous_a man_n and_o whosoever_o shall_v give_v unto_o one_o of_o these_o little_a one_o to_o drink_v a_o cup_n of_o cold_a water_n only_o in_o the_o in_o the_o communion_n of_o saint_n for_o that_o our_o saviour_n christ_n mean_v by_o give_v to_o a_o prophet_n in_o the_o name_n of_o a_o prophet_n and_o to_o a_o righteous_a man_n in_o the_o name_n of_o a_o righteous_a man_n and_o to_o a_o little_a one_o in_o the_o name_n of_o a_o disciple_n as_o though_o he_o shall_v say_v even_o for_o the_o love_n that_o a_o man_n bear_v they_o because_o they_o be_v such_o as_o they_o be_v either_o prophet_n as_o in_o a_o principal_a place_n of_o service_n or_o a_o rigteous_a man_n as_o one_o more_o ancient_a and_o approve_a in_o his_o profession_n or_o a_o disciple_n as_o it_o be_v a_o novice_n or_o new_o convert_v and_o more_o weak_a christian_a this_o be_v the_o first_o thing_n to_o be_v observe_v in_o these_o word_n second_o we_o be_v to_o observe_v that_o according_a to_o the_o quality_n and_o degree_n of_o the_o duty_n which_o any_o perform_v in_o that_o former_a respect_n the_o reward_n of_o god_n free_a bounty_n shall_v be_v proportionable_a that_o be_v he_o will_v fit_v the_o crown_n answerable_a to_o the_o work_n of_o his_o own_o grace_n and_o according_a to_o the_o excellency_n of_o the_o occasion_n which_o he_o himself_o vouchsafe_v to_o give_v whether_o great_a or_o lesser_a and_o according_a to_o the_o great_a or_o lesser_a measure_n of_o faith_n and_o love_n wherein_o the_o same_o duty_n be_v perform_v so_o many_o as_o for_o the_o present_a god_n shall_v bring_v to_o hand_n and_o first_o that_o offer_v itself_o which_o we_o do_v read_v chapter_n 11._o verse_n 17._o he_o that_o be_v merciful_a say_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n by_o the_o wise_a king_n reward_v his_o own_o soul_n that_o be_v to_o say_v he_o do_v so_o gracious_a and_o acceptable_a a_o duty_n before_o god_n when_o it_o be_v do_v in_o faith_n and_o obedience_n to_o god_n that_o god_n of_o his_o rich_a and_o free_a grace_n and_o mercy_n will_v sure_o reward_v it_o unto_o he_o and_o in_o the_o same_o chapter_n verse_n 24.25.26_o there_o be_v that_o scatter_v and_o be_v more_o increase_v the_o liberal_a person_n shall_v have_v plenty_n and_o he_o that_o water_v shall_v have_v rain_n he_o that_o withdraw_v corn_n the_o people_n will_v curse_v he_o but_o blessing_n shall_v be_v upon_o the_o head_n of_o he_o that_o sell_v corn_n that_o be_v of_o he_o that_o exercise_v mercy_n in_o his_o prise_v and_o sell_v of_o it_o labour_v in_o hard_a time_n to_o mitigate_v and_o be_v down_o that_o extreme_a price_n which_o unmerciful_a man_n strive_v to_o bring_v it_o unto_o for_o as_o touch_v dear_a seller_n such_o of_o who_o the_o
