encouragement_n to_o hope_v for_o success_n in_o so_o do_v for_o by_o application_n of_o ourselves_o to_o the_o mean_n aforesaid_a we_o may_v not_o only_o rid_v ourselves_o of_o that_o wildness_n and_o freity_n which_o be_v ordinary_o upon_o our_o nature_n but_o outgrow_a vulgar_a opinion_n and_o tradition_n and_o come_v to_o be_v able_a to_o make_v a_o true_a estimate_n of_o thing_n set_v before_o we_o we_o may_v greaten_v our_o spirit_n so_o as_o to_o despise_v those_o little_a thing_n which_o silly_a man_n dote_v upon_o we_o may_v free_v our_o mind_n of_o childish_a fear_n and_o unaccountable_a superstition_n we_o may_v understand_v the_o true_a reason_n of_o religion_n the_o loveliness_n of_o virtue_n and_o in_o a_o word_n have_v worthy_a notion_n of_o god_n and_o clear_a apprehension_n of_o the_o world_n to_o come_v and_o although_o it_o be_v acknowledge_v that_o all_o man_n be_v not_o alike_o capable_a of_o these_o improvement_n either_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o weakness_n of_o their_o mind_n or_o the_o unhappy_a constitution_n of_o their_o body_n or_o the_o perplex_a condition_n of_o their_o outward_a affair_n yet_o certain_o god_n almighty_n have_v by_o the_o mean_v aforesaid_a put_v it_o into_o every_o man_n power_n to_o be_v wise_a than_o he_o be_v if_o he_o will_v but_o apply_v himself_o to_o the_o use_n of_o they_o and_o therefore_o let_v the_o devout_a man_n be_v sure_a to_o make_v the_o experiment_n to_o further_o he_o the_o more_o wherein_o let_v he_o to_o all_o the_o consideration_n forego_v add_v these_o two_o follow_v first_o that_o be_v false_a to_o the_o common_a reason_n of_o mankind_n which_o oblige_v man_n to_o provide_v for_o the_o future_a in_o the_o three_o place_n they_o be_v false_a to_o their_o own_o interest_n of_o self-preservation_n and_o last_o they_o be_v false_a and_o ingrateful_a to_o their_o best_a friend_n who_o counsel_n they_o forsake_v and_o abandon_v themselves_o to_o the_o conduct_n of_o the_o most_o silly_a and_o profligate_v wretch_n but_o if_o any_o shall_v think_v to_o excuse_v themselves_o from_o this_o censure_n by_o suggest_v that_o they_o look_v upon_o devotion_n as_o either_o the_o effect_n of_o a_o weak_a judgement_n or_o of_o a_o melancholy_n and_o timorous_a constitution_n i_o add_v that_o this_o make_v the_o matter_n so_o much_o worse_o as_o that_o it_o involve_v they_o be_v or_o no_o if_o we_o do_v but_o bethink_v ourselves_o in_o this_o one_o thing_n namely_o how_o we_o ourselves_o come_v to_o be_v for_o though_o it_o may_v be_v at_o the_o first_o blush_n of_o this_o question_n we_o shall_v think_v it_o sufficient_a to_o say_v we_o have_v our_o beginning_n from_o our_o immediate_a parent_n and_o they_o in_o like_a manner_n successive_o from_o their_o progenitor_n yet_o when_o we_o proceed_v on_o in_o our_o inquiry_n so_o far_o as_o to_o consider_v and_o ask_v ourselves_o what_o it_o be_v which_o bring_v the_o whole_a race_n of_o mankind_n into_o be_v we_o shall_v then_o find_v ourselves_o force_v to_o acknowledge_v the_o hand_n of_o god_n in_o it_o forasmuch_o as_o in_o the_o first_o place_n it_o be_v certain_a that_o nothing_o can_v take_v please_v to_o continue_v it_o in_o health_n to_o settle_v concord_n and_o unity_n among_o the_o several_a member_n of_o it_o that_o the_o whole_a may_v enjoy_v prosperity_n and_o safety_n from_o thief_n from_o fire_n and_o other_o danger_n and_o every_o such_o society_n have_v also_o proper_a and_o peculiar_a mercy_n to_o give_v thanks_o to_o god_n for_o as_o namely_o for_o success_n in_o acknowledgement_n to_o god_n in_o relation_n to_o the_o family_n and_o by_o the_o whole_a family_n in_o conjunction_n as_o well_o as_o by_o every_o single_a person_n apart_o and_o in_o his_o closet_n and_o though_o perhaps_o there_o may_v be_v some_o family_n wherein_o there_o be_v no_o person_n who_o can_v apt_o and_o proper_o represent_v the_o peculiar_a concern_v of_o it_o to_o the_o almighty_a and_o it_o may_v be_v also_o there_o be_v no_o form_n of_o prayer_n at_o hand_n that_o will_v express_v all_o the_o respective_a circumstance_n of_o such_o a_o society_n yet_o they_o may_v lift_v up_o their_o heart_n and_o voice_n together_o in_o a_o general_a form_n and_o supply_v with_o their_o thought_n and_o affection_n whatsoever_o be_v want_v in_o the_o expression_n and_o as_o there_o be_v just_a ground_n and_o reason_n for_o such_o family_n worship_n so_o there_o be_v good_a cause_n to_o expect_v it_o will_v be_v singular_o successful_a when_o the_o whole_a community_n join_v together_o and_o present_v themselves_o and_o their_o tribute_n of_o praise_n before_o the_o lord_n no_o question_n but_o the_o very_a manner_n of_o do_v it_o as_o well_o as_o the_o matter_n will_v be_v high_o acceptable_a to_o he_o and_o when_o with_o prostrate_a body_n devout_a heart_n and_o hand_n and_o eye_n lift_v up_o to_o heaven_n they_o combine_v together_o to_o importune_v and_o as_o it_o be_v besiege_v the_o almighty_a they_o can_v fail_v of_o a_o blessing_n or_o however_o it_o be_v a_o mighty_a satisfaction_n to_o the_o mind_n of_o all_o such_o person_n and_o a_o great_a security_n to_o they_o that_o they_o have_v thus_o joint_o and_o solemn_o commend_v themselves_o to_o the_o divine_a protection_n beside_o that_o this_o course_n be_v a_o effectual_a mean_n to_o
