of_o give_v order_n and_o of_o inflict_v spiritual_a censure_n from_o the_o king_n but_o it_o be_v no_o more_o so_o than_o those_o patent_n be_v with_o those_o doctrine_n that_o all_o power_n of_o that_o kind_n be_v to_o be_v derive_v from_o christ_n and_o his_o apostle_n who_o have_v give_v it_o to_o the_o church_n not_o to_o the_o lay-magistrate_n the_o consequence_n whereof_o must_v be_v that_o be_v mutual_o inconsistent_a they_o ought_v to_o be_v make_v consistent_a as_o far_o as_o be_v possible_a in_o practice_n by_o interpretation_n that_o be_v that_o one_o duty_n be_v perform_v so_o far_o and_o so_o far_o only_o as_o be_v consistent_a with_o the_o performance_n of_o the_o other_o but_o in_o this_o way_n of_o proceed_v it_o be_v unavoidable_a but_o that_o one_o of_o the_o two_o duty_n must_v take_v place_n of_o the_o other_o so_o as_o to_o leave_v no_o place_n for_o the_o other_o any_o further_a than_o be_v consistent_a with_o the_o interest_n of_o the_o principal_a duty_n and_o then_o there_o can_v be_v little_a doubt_n if_o a_o ecclesiastic_a be_v judge_n and_o of_o such_o only_o i_o be_o speak_v at_o present_a whether_o of_o the_o two_o duty_n must_v be_v judge_v principal_a if_o they_o be_v consider_v as_o ecclesiastic_n the_o church_n be_v the_o principal_a body_n for_o which_o they_o ought_v to_o be_v concern_v consider_v they_o also_o as_o good_a christian_n and_o as_o good_a man_n and_o the_o same_o obligation_n will_v hold_v still_o to_o prefer_v the_o interest_n of_o the_o church_n because_o they_o be_v indeed_o the_o great_a interest_n in_o the_o judgement_n of_o god_n and_o in_o the_o judgement_n of_o right_a reason_n and_o the_o most_o immediate_o and_o firm_o oblige_v that_o which_o be_v indeed_o the_o immediate_a subject_n of_o obligation_n the_o conscience_n all_o therefore_o that_o person_n so_o persuade_v can_v promise_v and_o which_o the_o magistrate_n of_o that_o age_n act_v against_o principle_n may_v be_v satisfy_v with_o as_o sufficient_o answer_v his_o end_n be_v to_o behave_v themselves_o in_o reference_n to_o the_o magistrate_n so_o as_o if_o indeed_o they_o have_v no_o power_n but_o what_o they_o derive_v from_o he_o that_o be_v to_o hold_v their_o place_n from_o whosoever_o they_o have_v receive_v they_o no_o long_o than_o he_o be_v please_v they_o shall_v hold_v they_o this_o promise_n they_o may_v make_v as_o to_o the_o temporalty_n that_o they_o will_v be_v no_o long_o legal_a bishop_n entitle_v by_o the_o secular_a law_n to_o temporalty_n though_o this_o be_v a_o particular_a hardship_n put_v upon_o their_o order_n for_o as_o for_o the_o secular_a peer_n the_o hold_v their_o peerage_n by_o law_n not_o bare_o at_o the_o pleasure_n of_o the_o prince_n however_o these_o condition_n import_v no_o loss_n of_o spiritual_a authority_n the_o bishop_n may_v with_o a_o safe_a conscience_n submit_v to_o when_o impose_v on_o they_o by_o unavoidable_a force_n they_o may_v also_o promise_v when_o they_o be_v deprive_v of_o their_o temporal_n to_o quit_v their_o spiritual_n also_o in_o order_n to_o the_o qualify_a another_o of_o the_o same_o communion_n to_o succeed_v they_o without_o any_o imputation_n of_o schism_n but_o a_o general_a promise_n of_o this_o kind_n can_v not_o oblige_v they_o when_o quit_v their_o right_n may_v betray_v the_o church_n and_o make_v it_o depend_v precarious_o on_o the_o pleasure_n of_o the_o magistrate_n however_o they_o not_o foresee_v this_o case_n and_o not_o fear_v it_o in_o the_o circumstance_n then_o in_o view_n may_v make_v this_o indefinite_a promise_n and_o intend_v real_o to_o fulfil_v it_o and_o whether_o they_o do_v well_o in_o do_v so_o or_o no_o yet_o they_o may_v do_v it_o without_o own_v the_o right_n to_o spiritual_a power_n to_o be_v at_o the_o disposal_n of_o the_o civil_a magistrate_n yet_o as_o long_o as_o they_o do_v not_o think_v it_o his_o right_n they_o can_v not_o think_v themselves_o oblige_v in_o conscience_n to_o quit_v their_o pretension_n to_o their_o spiritual_n bare_o because_o the_o magistrate_n be_v please_v to_o invade_v they_o all_o the_o obligation_n therefore_o they_o can_v have_v to_o do_v it_o must_v either_o have_v be_v from_o their_o promise_n or_o from_o the_o present_a exigency_n of_o the_o case_n which_o may_v in_o their_o opinion_n seem_v to_o require_v it_o yet_o all_o this_o be_v consistent_a with_o a_o opinion_n that_o whilst_o they_o have_v the_o power_n they_o have_v it_o from_o a_o authority_n superior_a to_o that_o of_o the_o civil_a magistrate_n wh●●h_v till_o the_o magistrate_n do_v deprive_v they_o may_v make_v all_o their_o act_n valid_a as_o do_v by_o a_o divine_a commission_n it_o be_v very_o plain_a withal_o that_o after_o the_o patent_n be_v give_v yet_o the_o magistrate_n himself_o take_v care_n to_o recommend_v they_o to_o bishop_n for_o their_o consecration_n why_o so_o unless_o he_o believe_v that_o if_o he_o have_v do_v otherwise_o his_o bishop_n will_v never_o have_v be_v take_v for_o valid_a bishop_n with_o regard_n to_o conscience_n why_o so_o if_o he_o have_v not_o therein_o design_v to_o gratify_v the_o ancient_n and_o receive_a opinion_n concern_v the_o original_a of_o church-power_n which_o without_o such_o consecration_n suppose_v they_o liable_a to_o so_o just_a exception_n it_o be_v not_o the_o magistrate_n fancy_v that_o consecration_n give_v they_o no_o new_a power_n that_o
