intend_v they_o to_o be_v so_o though_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n he_o deceive_v himself_o and_o be_v in_o danger_n of_o deceive_v other_o with_o false_a notion_n though_o i_o grant_v a_o contrary_a practice_n a_o practice_n that_o be_v repugnant_a to_o false_a notion_n so_o long_o as_o person_n do_v not_o willing_o oppose_v clear_a light_n it_o alter_v the_o case_n very_o much_o as_o to_o person_n state_n and_o safety_n 20._o i_o believe_v say_v he_o those_o scripture_n rom._n 3._o 21_o 22._o philip._n 3._o 9_o rom._n 4._o 13._o which_o such_o a_o one_o speak_v of_o i_o bring_v to_o prove_v that_o faith_n itself_o be_v our_o justify_v righteousness_n be_v not_o for_o his_o purpose_n the_o two_o first_o speak_v of_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n god_n man_n which_o faith_n think_v that_o faith_n go_v to_o the_o constitute_n of_o christ_n righteousness_n but_o sure_o he_o will_v not_o say_v this_o if_o faith_n be_v whole_o exclude_v and_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n and_o only_o this_o mean_v then_o why_o do_v the_o apostle_n mention_n faith_n if_o he_o say_v because_o it_o take_v hold_v upon_o and_o embrace_v the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n i_o ask_v then_o where_o this_o faith_n be_v if_o the_o apostle_n only_o speak_v of_o the_o object_n christ_n righteousness_n in_o these_o text_n he_o can_v find_v it_o unless_o he_o will_v say_v that_o faith_n itself_o be_v part_n of_o this_o object_n and_o if_o so_o than_o it_o follow_v first_o that_o faith_n be_v a_o part_n of_o christ_n righteousness_n 2_o that_o faith_n take_v hold_v of_o and_o embrace_v faith_n for_o christ_n righteousness_n and_o so_o three_o that_o one_o part_n of_o the_o object_n take_v hold_v upon_o and_o embrace_v another_o thus_o person_n may_v see_v if_o they_o will_v not_o on_o set_v purpose_n shut_v their_o eve_n what_o a_o confusion_n and_o jumble_v this_o make_v i._n e._n the_o assert_v the_o righteousness_n of_o and_o by_o faith_n to_o be_v christ_n saviour_n which_o include_v his_o take_v he_o in_o all_o his_o office_n and_o a_o purpose_n through_o assist_v grace_n of_o obedience_n to_o the_o death_n be_v a_o conformity_n to_o the_o gospel_n which_o be_v christ_n law_n of_o grace_n and_o as_o it_o be_v a_o conformity_n hereunto_o by_o the_o scripture_n it_o be_v call_v a_o righteousness_n and_o this_o faith_n justify_v not_o nor_o give_v three_o that_o they_o be_v no_o such_o term_n or_o condition_n which_o in_o their_o own_o nature_n procure_v our_o acceptation_n with_o god_n this_o i_o as_o the_o former_a grant_n for_o they_o themselves_o be_v accept_v of_o god_n only_o for_o the_o meritorious_a and_o satisfactory_a righteousness_n of_o christ_n but_o now_o if_o person_n will_v grant_v that_o god_n have_v so_o knit_v and_o join_v the_o blessing_n of_o pardon_n and_o life_n with_o repentance_n and_o faith_n as_o that_o none_o i_o speak_v of_o the_o adult_n shall_v have_v through_o christ_n any_o interest_n in_o or_o relation_n to_o the_o conditionality_n of_o the_o covenant_n which_o he_o must_v do_v or_o he_o understand_v not_o himself_o when_o he_o say_v that_o faith_n be_v a_o condition_n of_o connection_n and_o order_n he_o own_v as_o much_o the_o conditionality_n of_o the_o covenant_n as_o i._o and_o if_o so_o be_v he_o own_o condition_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o this_o sort_n than_o he_o must_v hold_v that_o pardon_n and_o life_n as_o connect_v to_o faith_n do_v immediate_o according_a to_o god_n appoint_a order_n in_o the_o gospel_n devolve_v upon_o he_o that_o have_v this_o faith_n or_o upon_o he_o that_o have_v this_o faith_n than_o they_o must_v be_v promise_v unto_o he_o as_o such_o a_o one_o and_o so_o they_o be_v as_o the_o scripture_n i_o have_v mention_v above_o be_v express_v and_o if_o they_o be_v promise_v unto_o he_o as_o such_o a_o one_o than_o he_o must_v have_v that_o right_n to_o these_o blessing_n promise_v which_o another_o that_o want_v this_o condition_n of_o connection_n and_o order_n have_v not_o now_o then_o to_o our_o purpose_n i_o ask_v be_v it_o christ_n that_o this_o condition_n of_o connection_n and_o order_n respect_n or_o be_v it_o a_o sinner_n if_o christ_n than_o we_o must_v suppose_v he_o antecedent_n to_o this_o faith_n which_o he_o call_v a_o condition_n of_o connection_n and_o order_n to_o have_v be_v a_o unbeliever_n if_o the_o sinner_n than_o this_o condition_n of_o connection_n and_o order_n must_v be_v on_o his_o part_n and_o not_o on_o christ_n and_o when_o he_o have_v it_o he_o must_v be_v a_o confederate_a and_o not_o christ_n according_a to_o this_o man_n be_v own_o grant_n and_o if_o the_o believe_a sinner_n be_v one_o of_o the_o confederate_n hereupon_o then_o god_n promise_v the_o blessing_n that_o be_v connect_v with_o this_o faith_n must_v be_v the_o other_o and_o that_o with_o relation_n to_o the_o believe_a sinner_n see_v the_o blessing_n of_o pardon_n and_o life_n connect_v with_o his_o faith_n respect_v he_o and_o not_o christ_n for_o christ_n himself_o need_v pardon_v or_o a_o right_n to_o life_n for_o he_o never_o be_v that_o i_o can_v find_v in_o a_o guilty_a perish_a condition_n as_o a_o sinner_n so_o that_o now_o if_o there_o be_v no_o covenant_n of_o grace_n as_o this_o man_n have_v affirm_v make_v betwixt_o god_n and_o sinner_n but_o only_o betwixt_o god_n and_o christ_n and_o yet_o christ_n can_v be_v no_o paâ—ty_n in_o this_o covenant_n but_o believe_v sinner_n go_v we_o upon_o his_o own_o concession_n how_o must_v these_o thing_n be_v reconcile_v or_o this_o man_n be_v consistent_a with_o himself_o i_o shall_v leave_v it_o he_o may_v see_v what_o he_o can_v make_v of_o it_o for_o he_o have_v grant_v a_o condition_n of_o the_o covenant_n on_o our_o part_n and_o this_o there_o can_v be_v without_o a_o covenant_n respect_v we_o which_o have_v no_o relation_n to_o christ_n as_o a_o party_n i._n e._n in_o his_o sense_n there_o have_v be_v many_o and_o great_a contest_v about_o this_o matter_n i._n e._n some_o affirm_v the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n to_o be_v absolute_a other_o conditional_a now_o in_o my_o thought_n there_o may_v be_v a_o very_a fair_a accommodation_n for_o under_o a_o different_a consideration_n the_o covenant_n may_v be_v say_v to_o be_v both_o absolute_a and_o conditional_a absolute_a as_o the_o whole_a of_o the_o grace_n and_o save_a benefit_n of_o it_o be_v free_a of_o mere_a favour_n through_o christ_n without_o respect_n to_o any_o merit_n or_o procure_v desert_n in_o we_o conditional_a as_o god_n in_o his_o infinite_a wisdom_n have_v state_v in_o his_o order_n of_o dispensation_n by_o christ_n that_o there_o shall_v be_v such_o a_o connection_n or_o conjunction_n betwixt_o true_a faith_n pardon_v and_o life_n as_o that_o none_o i_o speak_v of_o the_o adult_n shall_v have_v any_o actual_a interest_n in_o or_o
right_a to_o this_o pardon_n and_o life_n without_o faith_n previous_a thereunto_o in_o order_n of_o nature_n and_o whoever_o they_o be_v that_o will_v deny_v this_o they_o must_v deny_v the_o plain_a part_n of_o scripture_n but_o it_o may_v be_v say_v do_v not_o you_o affirm_v that_o the_o performance_n of_o the_o condition_n be_v require_v of_o we_o i_o answer_v true_a and_o the_o scripture_n our_o duty_n to_o repent_v believe_v and_o obey_v his_o infinite_a wisdom_n have_v order_v this_o as_o the_o best_a way_n or_o mean_n to_o our_o have_a pardon_n and_o life_n through_o christ_n and_o therefore_o for_o this_o purpose_n will_v have_v the_o command_n of_o the_o gospel_n press_v upon_o sinner_n but_o then_o his_o promise_n of_o the_o gift_n of_o this_o grace_n through_o and_o for_o command_n as_o in_o the_o case_n of_o those_o at_o peter_n sermon_n and_o the_o jailor_n etc._n etc._n but_o then_o after_o acquaintance_n with_o his_o duty_n and_o conviction_n of_o his_o own_o inability_n to_o perform_v god_n by_o his_o promise_n convey_v the_o grace_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n to_o give_v he_o that_o ability_n so_o that_o now_o man_n repent_v and_o give_v his_o sincere_a consent_n to_o be_v obedient_a to_o god_n in_o christ_n the_o blessing_n of_o pardon_n and_o life_n according_a to_o the_o tenor_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n devolve_v upon_o he_o for_o christ_n as_o the_o subject_n of_o the_o right_n i._n e._n as_o a_o penitent_a believer_n so_o that_o in_o what_o i_o have_v say_v it_o be_v manifest_a the_o term_n and_o condition_n of_o the_o covenant_n perform_v by_o man_n through_o assist_v grace_n be_v no_o other_o but_o term_n and_o condition_n of_o connection_n and_o order_n as_o have_v be_v explain_v and_o here_o observe_v this_o be_v so_o far_o from_o destroy_v as_o that_o it_o do_v establish_v the_o doctrine_n of_o justification_n by_o faith_n or_o that_o doctrine_n which_o teach_v faith_n to_o be_v our_o formal_a personal_a righteousness_n or_o that_o upon_o which_o god_n do_v account_v we_o by_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n subject_n that_o have_v right_a through_o christ_n to_o pardon_n and_o life_n see_v that_o god_n have_v so_o connect_v true_a faith_n and_o these_o save_a benefit_n as_o that_o it_o be_v his_o fix_a order_n by_o this_o his_o covenant_n to_o dispense_v the_o latter_a to_o such_o and_o such_o creature_n be_v but_o a_o law_n of_o grace_n and_o mercy_n and_o if_o this_o must_v not_o be_v than_o we_o must_v have_v no_o legal_a right_n at_o all_o and_o if_o no_o legal_a right_n than_o no_o justification_n there_o must_v be_v no_o such_o thing_n and_o if_o there_o be_v no_o such_o thing_n then_o let_v person_n contend_v no_o more_o about_o it_o and_o though_o it_o be_v true_a these_o according_a to_o the_o tenor_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o pardon_n and_o life_n through_o and_o for_o christ_n and_o this_o be_v the_o nature_n of_o justification_n but_o though_o this_o man_n in_o his_o 24_o question_n have_v grant_v faith_n to_o be_v a_o condition_n of_o connection_n and_o order_n which_o be_v all_o that_o i_o intend_v as_o i_o have_v explain_v myself_o when_o i_o speak_v of_o the_o condition_n of_o the_o covenant_n and_o so_o grant_v hereby_o a_o covenant_n of_o grace_n make_v betwixt_o god_n and_o believer_n as_o i_o have_v show_v yet_o his_o 14_o 15_o 16_o 17_o 18_o and_o 19_o question_n they_o all_o respect_v the_o same_o thing_n i._n e._n his_o denial_n of_o the_o conditionality_n of_o the_o covenant_n so_o consistent_a be_v this_o man_n with_o himself_o but_o
