hinder_v but_o it_o may_v be_v in_o the_o case_n of_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o supper_n as_o in_o the_o sacrament_n of_o baptism_n the_o efficacy_n and_o force_v of_o baptism_n do_v not_o present_o appear_v no_o not_o present_o upon_o the_o year_n of_o discretion_n many_o a_o one_o life_n vicious_o in_o sinful_a course_n a_o swearer_n adulterer_n etc._n etc._n but_o yet_o afterward_o if_o god_n give_v once_o a_o man_n the_o heart_n to_o be_v touch_v with_o the_o sense_n of_o his_o own_o unworthiness_n and_o he_o begin_v to_o bestir_v himself_o to_o seek_v god_n by_o faith_n and_o repentance_n the_o lord_n quicken_v a_o man_n baptism_n and_o make_v it_o as_o powerful_a and_o efficacious_a as_o if_o that_o very_a day_n administer_v so_o in_o this_o case_n possible_o a_o man_n that_o have_v be_v at_o the_o lord_n table_n and_o have_v more_o than_o once_o be_v a_o unworthy_a receiver_n but_o yet_o if_o a_o man_n shall_v come_v once_o to_o be_v humble_v of_o that_o unworthiness_n god_n will_v make_v sacrament_n so_o oft_o unprofitable_o receive_v to_o become_v efficacious_a unto_o he_o for_o though_o he_o be_v unprepared_a to_o receive_v yet_o god_n be_v not_o unprepared_a to_o dispense_v the_o benefit_n of_o they_o therefore_o if_o we_o have_v miscarry_v in_o our_o preparation_n and_o disposition_n so_o as_o we_o have_v find_v no_o benefit_n no_o comfort_n yet_o here_o be_v a_o remedy_n and_o a_o help_n take_v this_o course_n by_o after-diligence_n and_o after-humiliation_n to_o fetch_v life_n into_o that_o ordinance_n in_o which_o thou_o be_v dead_a and_o which_o be_v dead_a unto_o thou_o in_o the_o administration_n it_o be_v a_o frequent_a and_o foul_a fault_n among_o many_o that_o so_o soon_o as_o the_o sacrament_n be_v do_v and_o the_o duty_n end_v in_o public_a they_o never_o once_o look_v after_o it_o more_o they_o leave_v the_o sacramental_a disposition_n and_o devotion_n in_o the_o church_n there_o they_o shake_v hand_n with_o it_o and_o bring_v not_o a_o whit_n of_o it_o home_o with_o they_o when_o the_o sacrament_n be_v do_v all_o be_v do_v with_o they_o and_o as_o they_o come_v to_o it_o so_o they_o go_v from_o it_o without_o any_o examination_n at_o all_o it_o be_v never_o once_o more_o think_v upon_o and_o thereupon_o no_o humiliation_n for_o deadness_n hardness_n and_o indisposition_n in_o the_o duty_n and_o no_o care_n to_o make_v up_o that_o by_o after_o diligence_n wherein_o they_o be_v want_v in_o the_o present_a performance_n 2_o second_o if_o upon_o this_o examination_n we_o find_v that_o we_o be_v refresh_v have_v our_o heart_n enlarge_v have_v virtue_n from_o and_o communion_n with_o christ_n and_o that_o god_n be_v very_o good_a to_o we_o then_o do_v these_o two_o thing_n 1_o first_o bless_v god_n with_o all_o thy_o soul_n for_o his_o mercy_n show_v unto_o thou_o acknowledge_v with_o all_o thankfulness_n god_n gracious_a deal_n with_o thou_o in_o the_o communication_n and_o manifestation_n of_o himself_o to_o thou_o in_o his_o ordinance_n 2_o second_o be_v careful_a and_o watchful_a to_o keep_v up_o and_o maintain_v that_o holy_a and_o gracious_a frame_n of_o heart_n in_o thou_o which_o thou_o acquire_v in_o and_o bring_v from_o the_o sacrament_n with_o thou_o a_o man_n when_o he_o find_v enlargement_n and_o a_o gracious_a disposition_n of_o spirit_n in_o the_o ordinance_n shall_v be_v of_o peter_n mind_n when_o in_o the_o mount_n with_o our_o saviour_n in_o his_o transfiguration_n master_n it_o be_v good_a be_v here_o it_o be_v good_a to_o be_v here_o as_o long_o as_o may_v be_v when_o therefore_o in_o the_o sacrament_n we_o have_v get_v holy_a affection_n by_o degree_n wound_v up_o to_o some_o spiritual_a height_n have_v get_v they_o up_o to_o more_o than_o a_o ordinary_a and_o common_a pitch_n our_o care_n shall_v be_v to_o keep_v and_o maintain_v so_o long_o as_o we_o can_v what_o we_o have_v get_v at_o the_o sacrament_n to_o keep_v the_o sweet_a meat_n we_o bring_v from_o this_o banquet_n it_o be_v true_a indeed_o that_o we_o can_v hold_v they_o up_o in_o that_o height_n and_o pitch_n to_o which_o we_o have_v wrought_v our_o heart_n in_o holy_a duty_n and_o in_o the_o heat_n of_o holy_a exercise_n but_o yet_o we_o shall_v endeavour_v it_o what_o we_o can_v and_o so_o long_o as_o be_v possible_a by_o after_o private_a duty_n of_o prayer_n meditation_n good_a conference_n and_o the_o like_a that_o as_o david_n pray_v for_o the_o people_n in_o that_o case_n 1_o chron._n 29._o 18._o when_o he_o see_v they_o in_o a_o float_n of_o good_a affection_n their_o heart_n sweet_o and_o gracious_o enlarge_v o_o lord_n say_v he_o keep_v this_o for_o ever_o in_o the_o imagination_n of_o the_o thought_n of_o the_o heart_n of_o thy_o people_n and_o prepare_v or_o establish_v their_o heart_n unto_o thou_o as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v lord_n thou_o see_v what_o a_o good_a frame_n of_o heart_n be_v in_o they_o at_o this_o present_a oh_o that_o thou_o will_v keep_v and_o maintain_v this_o frame_n of_o heart_n in_o they_o ever_o so_o when_o we_o find_v a_o good_a frame_n of_o heart_n wrought_v in_o we_o at_o the_o sacrament_n we_o shall_v pray_v and_o endeavour_v that_o this_o frame_n of_o heart_n may_v be_v still_o uphold_v and_o continue_v in_o we_o see_v a_o excellent_a example_n of_o this_o after_o a_o sacrament_n 2_o chron._n 30._o 21_o 22._o they_o find_v their_o heart_n comfortable_o and_o sweet_o enlarge_v in_o the_o use_n of_o god_n ordinance_n and_o loath_a they_o be_v to_o let_v this_o frame_n of_o heart_n sink_v in_o they_o fain_o will_v they_o keep_v it_o up_o still_o and_o therefore_o see_v for_o 23._o what_o they_o do_v and_o the_o whole_a assembly_n take_v counsel_n to_o keep_v other_o seven_o day_n and_o they_o keep_v other_o seven_o day_n with_o gladness_n this_o be_v do_v to_o keep_v up_o still_o this_o gladness_n of_o heart_n which_o they_o have_v in_o keep_v the_o first_o seven_o day_n and_o this_o by_o way_n of_o proportion_n serve_v to_o teach_v we_o what_o a_o special_a care_n we_o shall_v have_v after_o the_o receive_n of_o the_o sacrament_n to_o look_v wise_o to_o ourselves_o to_o
