judgement_n in_o all_o our_o duty_n as_o represent_v in_o the_o gospel_n we_o learn_v that_o it_o be_v the_o gift_n of_o god_n and_o to_o be_v seek_v by_o fervent_a prayer_n especial_o see_v that_o god_n have_v promise_v to_o give_v his_o spirit_n to_o they_o that_o ask_v he_o and_o that_o in_o a_o promise_n confirm_v by_o a_o argument_n draw_v from_o common_a and_o know_a experience_n for_o so_o be_v that_o luke_n 11.13_o if_o you_o then_o be_v evil_a know_v how_o to_o give_v good_a gift_n to_o your_o child_n how_o much_o more_o shall_v your_o heavenly_a father_n give_v his_o holy_a spirit_n to_o they_o that_o ask_v he_o 2._o nor_o shall_v i_o need_v to_o put_v you_o in_o mind_n that_o to_o our_o prayer_n for_o the_o illumination_n of_o god_n grace_n something_o of_o industry_n high_a thou_o even_o in_o thy_o mouth_n and_o in_o thy_o heart_n that_o be_v the_o word_n of_o faith_n which_o we_o preach_v that_o if_o thou_o shall_v confess_v with_o thy_o mouth_n the_o lord_n jesus_n and_o shall_v believe_v in_o thy_o heart_n that_o god_n have_v raise_v he_o from_o the_o dead_a thou_o shall_v be_v save_v where_o we_o see_v the_o apostle_n take_v it_o for_o grant_v that_o he_o that_o firm_o believe_v the_o gospel_n can_v scarce_o fail_v in_o the_o very_a practice_n much_o less_o in_o the_o knowledge_n and_o approbation_n of_o what_o be_v necessary_a to_o salvation_n so_o clear_o be_v all_o our_o duty_n reveal_v and_o so_o effectual_o recommend_v in_o the_o gospel_n 3._o so_o that_o what_o be_v now_o main_o requisite_a to_o gain_v a_o clear_a and_o stable_a judgement_n in_o the_o good_a and_o perfect_a will_n of_o god_n be_v so_o much_o antecedent_n probity_n so_o much_o sincerity_n towards_o god_n as_o that_o we_o be_v willing_a to_o do_v his_o will_n when_o it_o shall_v be_v make_v know_v unto_o we_o and_o wonder_v not_o that_o this_o shall_v be_v requisite_a for_o the_o gain_n of_o stable_a judgement_n in_o it_o for_o this_o be_v no_o more_o than_o the_o very_a belief_n that_o there_o be_v a_o god_n may_v produce_v in_o every_o man_n so_o believe_v if_o a_o man_n have_v nothing_o of_o inclination_n to_o do_v god_n will_v when_o he_o shall_v know_v it_o why_o shall_v god_n reveal_v it_o to_o he_o or_o suppose_v what_o be_v so_o indeed_o that_o he_o have_v reveal_v it_o in_o the_o gospel_n yet_o how_o unapt_a a_o man_n be_v to_o when_o the_o interest_n of_o powerful_a lust_n and_o passion_n bribe_n and_o corrupt_v the_o understanding_n for_o a_o man_n to_o prevaricate_v with_o himself_o and_o baffle_v and_o cheat_v his_o truth_n thereof_o those_o that_o believe_v and_o entertain_v it_o be_v high_o improve_v and_o better_v by_o it_o but_o those_o that_o resolve_v not_o to_o reform_v upon_o any_o motive_n any_o incitement_n whatsoever_o be_v force_v for_o their_o own_o ease_n and_o quiet_a to_o abandon_v the_o very_a belief_n of_o it_o and_o have_v reject_v this_o belief_n become_v expose_v to_o the_o obedience_n to_o he_o how_o much_o great_a must_v that_o power_n grow_v when_o love_n be_v add_v unto_o fear_n turn_v it_o into_o a_o filial_a reverence_n and_o put_v another_o nature_n into_o it_o love_v free_o offer_v what_o fear_n constrain_v love_n make_v that_o easy_a and_o delightful_a which_o be_v a_o burden_n unto_o fear_n nay_o love_n itself_o constrain_v likewise_o but_o without_o reluctancy_n and_o opposition_n for_o it_o remove_v these_o very_a thing_n and_o this_o be_v the_o meaning_n of_o st_n paul_n 2_o cor._n 5.14_o the_o love_n of_o christ_n say_v he_o constrain_v we_o we_o can_v resist_v its_o sovereign_a power_n we_o can_v oppose_v its_o mighty_a influence_n but_o free_o surrender_v all_o within_o we_o all_o our_o power_n and_o inclination_n into_o obedience_n lord_n have_v represent_v our_o love_n to_o he_o as_o a_o certain_a principle_n of_o obedience_n john_n 14.23_o if_o a_o man_n love_v i_o he_o will_v keep_v my_o word_n he_o can_v no_o more_o love_n and_o offend_v love_n and_o displease_v i_o both_o together_o than_o he_o can_v choose_v to_o vex_v himself_o and_o willing_o practice_v and_o embrace_v a_o contradiction_n to_o his_o will_n and_o and_o those_o be_v not_o only_o those_o very_a act_n which_o be_v usual_o style_v contempt_n and_o scorn_v and_o be_v in_o themselves_o express_o so_o but_o all_o such_o action_n and_o omission_n as_o evident_o flow_v from_o gross_a neglect_n and_o want_v of_o reverence_n towards_o god_n that_o be_v to_o say_v all_o deliberate_a and_o wilful_a sin_n and_o this_o appear_v from_o the_o very_a word_n of_o god_n himself_o a_o son_n faith_n he_o honour_v his_o father_n and_o a_o servant_n his_o master_n if_o then_o i_o he_o a_o father_n where_o be_v my_o honour_n and_o if_o i_o be_v a_o master_n where_o be_v my_o fear_n say_v the_o lord_n of_o host_n unto_o you_o o_o priest_n that_o despise_v my_o name_n and_o you_o say_v wherein_o have_v we_o despise_v thy_o name_n they_o wonder_v it_o seem_v and_o be_v much_o surprise_v that_o they_o shall_v be_v charge_v with_o so_o high_a a_o crime_n as_o that_o of_o despise_v the_o name_n of_o god_n that_o be_v indeed_o god_n himself_o they_o be_v so_o secure_a they_o be_v so_o confident_a that_o they_o be_v not_o guilty_a of_o this_o crime_n that_o they_o be_v willing_a to_o come_v to_o trial_n they_o plead_v not_o guilty_a to_o the_o indictment_n they_o debate_v and_o expostulate_v with_o god_n himself_o and_o demand_v the_o proof_n of_o the_o charge_n against_o they_o wherein_o have_v we_o despise_v thy_o name_n but_o what_o be_v the_o answer_n which_o god_n return_v how_o do_v he_o justify_v the_o charge_n against_o they_o you_o offer_v pollute_v bread_n upon_o my_o altar_n and_o yet_o you_o say_v wherein_o have_v we_o pollute_v thou_o be_v there_o not_o a_o law_n which_o forbid_v you_o to_o offer_v any_o unclean_a or_o pollute_a thing_n upon_o my_o altar_n do_v you_o not_o know_v that_o there_o be_v such_o a_o law_n and_o do_v you_o not_o then_o despise_v my_o name_n while_o you_o wilful_o violate_v that_o law_n which_o you_o yourselves_o know_v to_o be_v i_o thus_o do_v god_n make_v good_a his_o charge_n against_o these_o person_n who_o wiful_o sin_v against_o his_o law_n and_o see_v the_o very_a same_o charge_n lie_v against_o every_o wilful_a sinner_n therefore_o be_v every_o wilful_a sin_n a_o flat_a contradiction_n to_o that_o reverence_n which_o every_o man_n owe_v unto_o his_o maker_n but_o now_o although_o it_o be_v true_a indeed_o that_o every_o deliberate_a and_o wilful_a sin_n be_v a_o contradiction_n to_o that_o reverence_n which_o every_o man_n owe_v to_o the_o lord_n of_o all_o yet_o be_v there_o some_o particular_a kind_n of_o wilful_a sin_n that_o be_v more_o express_o so_o than_o other_o some_o there_o be_v that_o carry_v the_o very_a contempt_n of_o god_n clear_o write_v upon_o the_o brow_n some_o there_o be_v that_o carry_v the_o mark_n of_o irreverence_n to_o he_o in_o more_o express_v and_o legible_a character_n although_o not_o all_o in_o the_o same_o degree_n 1._o the_o first_o and_o great_a of_o these_o sin_n be_v the_o derision_n of_o all_o religion_n not_o only_o neglect_v but_o explicit_a scorn_n even_o of_o the_o very_a worship_n of_o god_n in_o prayer_n and_o praise_n and_o thanksgiving_n as_o well_o as_o of_o all_o other_o part_n and_o instance_n of_o the_o duty_n he_o have_v require_v from_o we_o a_o thing_n st_n peter_n himself_o foretell_v 2_o ep._n 3.3_o 4._o know_v this_o first_o that_o there_o shall_v come_v in_o the_o last_o day_n scoffer_n walk_v after_o their_o own_o lust_n and_o say_v where_o be_v the_o promise_n of_o his_o come_n where_o he_o describe_v such_o person_n as_o deny_v the_o come_n of_o christ_n to_o judgement_n and_o then_o in_o consequence_n of_o this_o error_n scoff_n and_o despise_v all_o religion_n now_o what_o be_v religion_n but_o the_o homage_n we_o owe_v to_o our_o sovereign_a lord_n the_o great_a creator_n of_o heaven_n and_o earth_n and_o what_o be_v it_o then_o to_o despise_v religion_n but_o to_o despise_v that_o homage_n and_o what_o be_v that_o but_o a_o despite_n to_o god_n himself_o the_o thing_n be_v evident_a beyond_o denial_n and_o so_o be_v another_o beside_o that_o which_o be_v that_o it_o be_v not_o matter_n of_o wit_n to_o deride_v and_o to_o despise_v religion_n for_o if_o it_o be_v frenzy_n it_o be_v not_o wit_n and_o if_o it_o be_v not_o a_o real_a frenzy_n to_o despise_v the_o homage_n a_o man_n owe_v to_o god_n and_o so_o to_o destroy_v and_o ruin_v himself_o there_o be_v no_o frenzy_n in_o all_o the_o world_n 2._o but_o to_o proceed_v another_o sin_n that_o carry_v a_o signal_n mark_v upon_o it_o of_o great_a irreverence_n towards_o god_n be_v
