in_o cark_n about_o success_n now_o if_o we_o can_v go_v on_o in_o performance_n of_o duty_n and_o never_o be_v trouble_v about_o success_n it_o will_v be_v exceed_o easy_a but_o christian_n find_v sometime_o that_o though_o they_o have_v be_v diligent_a in_o performance_n of_o duty_n yet_o they_o do_v not_o find_v success_n they_o find_v nothing_o come_v of_o it_o and_o this_o trouble_v they_o shall_v have_v many_o woman_n ignorant_a people_n and_o other_o when_o they_o come_v to_o hear_v a_o sermon_n that_o have_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o latin_a and_o quaint_a expression_n in_o it_o oh_o how_o they_o commend_v this_o and_o what_o a_o excellent_a sermon_n be_v this_o and_o what_o a_o excellent_a man_n be_v this_o it_o may_v be_v say_v of_o those_o sermon_n as_o bradford_n say_v of_o the_o mass_n the_o mass_n do_v not_o bite_v therefore_o you_o love_v it_o and_o so_o man_n use_v to_o love_v the_o common_a prayer_n alas_o it_o do_v not_o bite_v they_o will_v come_v and_o stand_v and_o hear_v a_o man_n read_v out_o of_o a_o book_n a_o while_n this_o do_v not_o bite_v whereas_o a_o prayer_n that_o come_v from_o the_o heart_n and_o fearch_v into_o man_n heart_n that_o stir_v their_o corruption_n and_o therefore_o they_o do_v not_o love_v it_o and_o so_o it_o be_v in_o regard_n of_o the_o word_n let_v the_o word_n come_v to_o search_v the_o heart_n and_o come_v near_o to_o divide_v between_o the_o marrow_n and_o the_o bone_n to_o come_v into_o the_o secret_a of_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n and_o woman_n then_o for_o the_o soul_n to_o love_v the_o word_n so_o much_o the_o more_o and_o to_o say_v oh_o this_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n that_o give_v ease_n to_o my_o soul_n i_o find_v more_o ease_n by_o such_o a_o ministry_n than_o i_o find_v by_o any_o ministry_n this_o be_v the_o ease_n of_o a_o gracious_a heart_n but_o a_o corrupt_a heart_n will_v have_v ease_n only_o in_o that_o way_n that_o be_v most_o subservant_a to_o his_o own_o lust_n that_o be_v the_o three_o difference_n four_o another_o difference_n be_v this_o the_o ease_n that_o a_o corrupt_a heart_n have_v
in_o my_o conscience_n well_o but_o now_o here_o be_v the_o case_n of_o conscience_n whether_o be_v this_o quiet_a that_o i_o have_v in_o my_o conscience_n from_o the_o hope_n i_o have_v of_o god_n mercy_n from_o presumption_n in_o i_o or_o from_o true_a faith_n it_o concern_v every_o one_o to_o get_v this_o case_n of_o conscience_n answer_v now_o i_o know_v no_o great_a help_n for_o the_o answer_v this_o case_n of_o conscience_n than_o this_o one_o thing_n that_o i_o have_v speak_v of_o have_v thou_o quiet_a and_o ease_v and_o have_v thou_o hope_v of_o god_n mercy_n and_o do_v that_o bring_v thou_o quiet_a if_o it_o be_v but_o presumption_n it_o make_v thou_o secure_a it_o make_v thou_o barren_a and_o sluggish_a but_o on_o the_o other_o side_n if_o thou_o have_v ease_n and_o quiet_a in_o thy_o spirit_n and_o thou_o find_v that_o the_o more_o that_o ease_n and_o quiet_a increase_v the_o more_o fruitful_a thou_o be_v in_o all_o good_a work_n it_o make_v thou_o the_o more_o active_a and_o stir_v in_o all_o good_a work_n this_o be_v a_o sign_n that_o it_o come_v from_o faith_n as_o you_o hear_v before_o a_o gracious_a heart_n have_v the_o more_o activeness_n in_o it_o the_o more_o ease_v it_o have_v now_o as_o his_o activeness_n in_o goodness_n cause_v easiness_n in_o his_o heart_n so_o the_o easiness_n in_o his_o heart_n cause_v activeness_n in_o goodness_n there_o be_v a_o mutuallness_n in_o these_o two_o and_o indeed_o this_o latter_a be_v the_o more_o facile_a for_o people_n to_o exam_n in_o themselves_o by_o perhaps_o every_o one_o can_v group_n to_o that_o activeness_n of_o heart_n but_o now_o have_v it_o this_o power_n upon_o your_o heart_n that_o you_o be_v more_o fruitful_a than_o before_o this_o be_v the_o ease_n of_o a_o gracious_a heart_n if_o it_o do_v so_o nine_o and_o then_o the_o ease_n that_o a_o carnal_a heart_n have_v in_o the_o way_n of_o god_n be_v from_o hence_o because_o he_o have_v but_o only_o one_o principle_n in_o his_o heart_n when_o he_o be_v in_o the_o way_n of_o god_n and_o when_o he_o be_v in_o the_o way_n of_o the_o world_n he_o be_v act_v but_o by_o the_o same_o principle_n in_o both_o there_o be_v not_o a_o contrary_a principle_n in_o his_o heart_n one_o that_o carry_v he_o one_o way_n and_o another_o that_o carry_v he_o another_o way_n but_o the_o ease_n of_o a_o gracious_a heart_n be_v this_o that_o he_o find_v a_o strong_a principle_n that_o overcome_v a_o contrary_a principle_n of_o corruption_n in_o he_o there_o lie_v his_o ease_n a_o carnal_a heart_n go_v on_o and_o perform_v duty_n and_o have_v not_o divers_a principle_n in_o his_o heart_n to_o carry_v he_o this_o way_n or_o that_o way_n but_o have_v only_o one_o principle_n a_o carnal_a principle_n that_o carry_v he_o on_o to_o serve_v his_o own_o end_n and_o sometime_o he_o can_v serve_v his_o end_n in_o one_o thing_n &_o sometime_o in_o another_o thing_n but_o one_o that_o be_v godly_a find_v ease_n from_o hence_o from_o the_o power_n of_o god_n grace_n that_o do_v overcome_v his_o corruption_n i_o find_v a_o stir_n in_o my_o heart_n but_o i_o thank_v god_n i_o can_v get_v the_o victory_n the_o ease_n of_o a_o godly_a heart_n come_v from_o the_o victory_n that_o it_o get_v but_o it_o be_v not_o so_o with_o a_o carnal_a heart_n your_o civil_a man_n do_v not_o find_v ease_n from_o their_o victory_n because_o what_o they_o do_v be_v not_o suitable_a to_o they_o but_o a_o godly_a man_n find_v that_o there_o be_v a_o principle_n of_o grace_n that_o oppose_v the_o principle_n of_o lust_n and_o corruption_n and_o therefore_o can_v say_v since_o i_o set_v my_o heart_n towards_o god_n and_o his_o way_n i_o have_v find_v more_o corruption_n than_o before_o stir_v but_o i_o thank_v god_n i_o have_v get_v victory_n over_o they_o i_o find_v a_o conquest_n get_v over_o the_o corruption_n that_o be_v stir_v in_o my_o soul_n and_o that_o be_v my_o ease_n another_o man_n he_o find_v no_o corruption_n stir_v in_o his_o heart_n and_o therefore_o no_o marvel_n if_o he_o find_v ease_n but_o now_o a_o godly_a man_n find_v a_o contrary_a principle_n to_o that_o which_o be_v good_a stir_v in_o his_o heart_n and_o then_o find_v god_n grace_n come_v in_o upon_o his_o heart_n to_o help_v he_o against_o that_o corruption_n and_o this_o bring_v ease_n and_o quiet_a to_o he_o ten_o and_o then_o the_o last_o be_v this_o that_o the_o ease_n the_o one_o have_v come_v from_o this_o that_o all_o that_o he_o do_v he_o preforme_v in_o his_o own_o strength_n and_o he_o do_v not_o see_v any_o need_n of_o any_o further_a strength_n than_o that_o which_o he_o have_v in_o himselelf_n to_o enable_v he_o to_o perform_v duty_n and_o so_o he_o find_v ease_v as_o a_o man_n find_v his_o trade_n to_o be_v easy_a if_o he_o trade_v with_o his_o own_o stock_n and_o have_v nothing_o but_o his_o own_o stock_n to_o trade_n with_o and_o trade_n in_o no_o high_a thing_n than_o what_o himself_o can_v reach_v unto_o whereas_o another_o man_n that_o must_v have_v the_o stock_n of_o other_o man_n to_o trade_n with_o find_v a_o great_a deal_n more_o trouble_n that_o see_v his_o trade_n require_v more_o stock_n than_o his_o own_o it_o be_v so_o with_o a_o gracious_a heart_n he_o set_v upon_o duty_n so_o as_o needs_o he_o find_v he_o more_o stock_n than_o his_o own_o his_o trade_n be_v beyond_o his_o own_o strength_n but_o now_o a_o godly_a heart_n when_o he_o come_v to_o want_v strength_n he_o fetch_v strength_n from_o christ_n he_o fetch_v strength_n from_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n he_o fetch_v strength_n from_o the_o promise_n and_o when_o he_o have_v get_v strength_n from_o christ_n from_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n from_o the_o promise_n oh_o now_o he_o find_v rest_n and_o ease_v in_o his_o duty_n and_o you_o shall_v see_v the_o reason_n of_o it_o in_o the_o next_o point_n why_o the_o sant_n find_v difficulty_n many_o time_n they_o will_v think_v to_o be_v trade_v with_o their_o own_o strength_n and_o their_o own_o stock_n whenas_o the_o thing_n they_o trade_v about_o be_v beyond_o their_o own_o strength_n but_o now_o when_o they_o can_v look_v high_o and_o see_v a_o fullness_n in_o jesus_n christ_n in_o the_o mediator_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n and_o of_o his_o fullness_n we_o must_v receive_v grace_n for_o grace_n and_o fetch_v strength_n from_o this_o oh_o then_o here_o be_v quiet_a and_o ease_n when_o the_o soul_n come_v to_o trade_n with_o another_o stock_n observe_v this_o you_o will_v find_v it_o as_o certain_a as_o can_v be_v all_o those_o that_o be_v mere_a civil_a people_n that_o find_v it_o so_o easy_a to_o go_v on_o in_o the_o way_n of_o god_n they_o be_v never_o sensible_a of_o any_o need_n they_o have_v of_o any_o more_o strength_n than_o their_o own_o whereas_o the_o yoke_n of_o christ_n be_v heavy_a than_o any_o natural_a strength_n be_v able_a to_o bear_v and_o therefore_o if_o you_o find_v ease_n in_o that_o you_o have_v strength_n of_o your_o own_o to_o perform_v it_o certain_o it_o be_v not_o the_o yoke_n of_o christ_n but_o now_o when_o you_o find_v your_o own_o strength_n too_o short_a when_o you_o go_v to_o perform_v any_o duty_n and_o find_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o difficulty_n you_o can_v go_v to_o christ_n and_o to_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o to_o the_o promise_n and_o there_o fetch_v in_o strength_n you_o have_v ease_n and_o quiet_a oh_o that_o you_o be_v acquaint_v with_o this_o mystery_n of_o godliness_n that_o when_o you_o go_v out_o to_o perform_v duty_n and_o you_o find_v they_o difficult_a and_o hard_a that_o then_o you_o can_v go_v out_o to_o christ_n and_o the_o covenannt_n of_o grace_n and_o the_o promise_n and_o fetch_v strength_n from_o they_o to_o perform_v duty_n this_o be_v the_o ease_n of_o a_o godly_a heart_n when_o it_o find_v ease_n in_o god_n way_n after_o this_o manner_n and_o all_o you_o that_o be_v acquaint_v with_o this_o mystery_n of_o godliness_n know_v that_o whatsoever_o ease_n you_o have_v find_v hitherto_o it_o be_v not_o the_o ease_n of_o a_o gracious_a heart_n but_o rather_o of_o a_o carnal_a heart_n chap._n cxxxix_o divers_a objection_n answer_v the_o easiness_n of_o the_o way_n of_o christ_n which_o be_v the_o three_o particular_a mention_v in_o chap._n 139._o quest_n but_o do_v we_o not_o find_v that_o christ_n have_v say_v in_o yoke_n of_o christ_n but_o be_v they_o come_v in_o they_o will_v not_o find_v it_o so_o difficult_a sometime_o indeed_o the_o work_n of_o god_n in_o convert_v of_o a_o soul_n come_v to_o it_o so_o as_o the_o soul_n find_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o difficulty_n the_o ministry_n of_o john_n by_o way_n of_o preparation_n come_v in_o a_o terrible_a way_n to_o make_v smooth_a the_o rough_a path_n and_o level_v the_o lofty_a hill_n come_v in_o a_o fiery_a way_n to_o prepare_v they_o many_o time_n it_o be_v very_o terrible_a and_o they_o find_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o difficulty_n much_o trouble_n of_o conscience_n and_o terror_n at_o first_o i_o but_o this_o be_v but_o to_o get_v â—hy_a neck_n into_o the_o yoke_n this_o be_v not_o the_o difficulty_n of_o christ_n yoke_n but_o it_o be_v the_o bring_v thou_o under_o the_o yoke_n of_o christ_n therefore_o let_v not_o those_o that_o god_n be_v beginning_n to_o stir_v they_o in_o awaknâ—ng_v their_o conscience_n be_v offend_v because_o they_o find_v difficulty_n because_o they_o find_v the_o way_n of_o god_n terrible_a to_o they_o and_o conscience_n terrible_a to_o they_o and_o they_o find_v the_o flash_n of_o hell_n upon_o their_o spirit_n be_v not_o offend_v because_o thou_o have_v more_o trouble_n now_o then_o before_o it_o be_v but_o in_o get_v that_o unruly_a spirit_n of_o thou_o under_o the_o yoke_n of_o christ_n if_o once_o thy_o spirit_n be_v subdue_v to_o jesus_n christ_n and_o bring_v under_o his_o yoke_n thou_o will_v not_o find_v it_o so_o terrible_a and_o it_o may_v be_v the_o more_o terror_n thou_o have_v now_o the_o more_o sweetness_n and_o comfort_n thou_o will_v find_v afterward_o three_o thou_o complain_v of_o difficulty_n that_o thou_o find_v in_o god_n way_n do_v not_o therefore_o complain_v of_o the_o yoke_n of_o christ_n it_o may_v be_v it_o be_v from_o the_o distemper_n of_o thy_o own_o heart_n not_o from_o christ_n yoke_n we_o know_v that_o a_o light_a yoke_n to_o one_o that_o have_v a_o sore_a neck_n seem_v to_o be_v very_o grievous_a but_o the_o fault_n be_v not_o in_o the_o yoke_n but_o in_o the_o soreness_n of_o the_o neck_n if_o the_o neck_n be_v sound_a and_o make_v whole_a the_o yoke_n will_v seem_v light_n so_o it_o be_v with_o many_o that_o profess_v religion_n and_o it_o may_v be_v have_v true_a grace_n they_o find_v the_o yoke_n very_o haâ—d_a to_o they_o and_o they_o complain_v of_o the_o yoke_n and_o think_v that_o which_o christ_n require_v of_o they_o be_v grievous_a to_o they_o but_o true_o it_o be_v the_o distemper_n of_o thy_o heart_n and_o the_o unsoundness_n of_o thy_o spirit_n that_o make_v it_o so_o if_o so_o be_v thy_o heart_n be_v but_o heal_v if_o thy_o hearâ—_n be_v but_o sound_a thou_o will_v not_o find_v any_o such_o difficulty_n in_o any_o way_n of_o christ_n in_o 2_o tim._n 1._o 7._o there_o the_o spirit_n of_o power_n of_o love_n and_o of_o a_o sound_a mind_n be_v join_v together_o where_o there_o be_v a_o sound_a mind_n a_o sound_a spirit_n theâ—e_n will_v be_v power_n there_o will_v be_v strength_n there_o will_v be_v love_n and_o sweetness_n but_o where_o the_o mind_n and_o the_o heart_n be_v unsound_a and_o distemper_v there_o you_o will_v find_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o difficulty_n in_o the_o yoke_n of_o christ_n so_o that_o i_o say_v where_o you_o find_v the_o yoke_n of_o christ_n difficult_a do_v not_o complain_v of_o that_o so_o much_o as_o of_o your_o own_o heart_n and_o labour_n to_o heal_v your_o own_o soul_n and_o then_o it_o it_o will_v not_o be_v so_o difficult_a and_o that_o be_v the_o three_o answer_n i_o will_v give_v to_o the_o godly_a that_o yet_o find_v difficulty_n in_o the_o way_n of_o religion_n it_o be_v not_o because_o of_o the_o yoke_n but_o it_o be_v because_o you_o be_v not_o enough_o under_o the_o yoke_n that_o be_v the_o difficulty_n if_o your_o heart_n be_v under_o it_o more_o than_o it_o be_v it_o will_v not_o be_v so_o difficult_a and_o this_o expression_n may_v serve_v to_o enlighten_v we_o into_o the_o four_o answer_n which_o be_v this_o four_o the_o yoke_n of_o christ_n may_v seem_v to_o be_v hard_o but_o it_o be_v because_o of_o the_o disorder_a carriage_n of_o thy_o spirit_n when_o thou_o be_v under_o it_o not_o only_o from_o a_o distemper_a heart_n that_o thy_o heart_n have_v distemper_n and_o habitual_a corruption_n but_o now_o when_o thou_o be_v do_v a_o duty_n thou_o do_v behave_v thyself_o in_o a_o disorderly_a way_n in_o the_o performance_n of_o the_o duty_n the_o disorderly_a behaviour_n of_o thy_o heart_n in_o the_o performance_n of_o duty_n as_o now_o we_o know_v it_o be_v with_o some_o bullock_n some_o creature_n that_o be_v unruly_a when_o they_o be_v in_o the_o yoke_n they_o keep_v such_o a_o stir_n and_o riggle_v this_o way_n and_o that_o way_n and_o they_o be_v so_o unquiet_a when_o they_o be_v under_o the_o yoke_n that_o they_o toil_n and_o trouble_v themselves_o abundant_o more_o than_o another_o that_o can_v carry_v the_o yoke_n quiet_o that_o go_v on_o quiet_o with_o his_o yoke_n so_o it_o be_v with_o many_o christian_n when_o they_o be_v in_o the_o performance_n of_o duty_n if_o they_o can_v do_v it_o as_o they_o will_v they_o do_v so_o vex_v and_o fret_v and_o be_v so_o disquiet_v in_o their_o spirit_n and_o so_o tumultuous_a in_o their_o spirit_n and_o be_v ready_a to_o cast_v it_o off_o conscience_n will_v keep_v it_o on_o and_o they_o be_v ready_a to_o cast_v it_o off_o there_o be_v such_o a_o disorderliness_n of_o spirit_n and_o such_o tumultuousness_n of_o spirit_n this_o make_v duty_n difficult_a whereas_o now_o when_o thou_o be_v in_o performance_n of_o duty_n if_o thou_o can_v be_v under_o the_o yoke_n of_o christ_n with_o a_o calm_a quiet_a spirit_n and_o carry_v it_o in_o a_o meek_a way_n oh_o the_o sweetness_n that_o thou_o will_v find_v there_o how_o many_o time_n shall_v you_o have_v many_o people_n that_o when_o they_o go_v to_o prayer_n if_o they_o can_v pray_v as_o they_o will_v do_v than_o they_o vex_v and_o fret_v and_o be_v ready_a to_o think_v to_o pray_v no_o more_o and_o why_o shall_v they_o pray_v any_o more_o they_o be_v so_o disturb_v in_o the_o duty_n they_o think_v it_o be_v better_a to_o cast_v it_o off_o and_o they_o begin_v to_o have_v hard_a thought_n of_o the_o duty_n and_o so_o their_o spirit_n be_v all_o in_o a_o dâ—stemper_n and_o disorderly_a work_n present_o and_o there_o be_v the_o difficulty_n whereas_o another_o though_o he_o can_v do_v what_o he_o will_v yet_o he_o have_v a_o humble_a dispose_n to_o god_n and_o think_v i_o will_v try_v another_o time_n may_v be_v god_n may_v come_v in_o another_o time_n still_o i_o love_v the_o duty_n the_o law_n be_v good_a the_o duty_n be_v just_a and_o good_a and_o though_o through_o the_o untowardness_n of_o my_o spirit_n i_o can_v do_v it_o now_o yet_o i_o hope_v god_n will_v come_v at_o another_o time_n i_o will_v do_v my_o duty_n and_o leave_v it_o to_o god_n to_o come_v in_o when_o he_o please_v as_o you_o hear_v before_o when_o the_o bullock_n or_o the_o heifer_n that_o bear_v the_o yoke_n if_o he_o go_v on_o quier_o his_o yoke_n be_v not_o so_o grievous_a but_o if_o he_o fling_v this_o way_n and_o that_o way_n and_o turn_v to_o this_o side_n and_o that_o side_n every_o way_n he_o make_v his_o yoke_n grievous_a to_o he_o and_o so_o it_o be_v with_o many_o christian_n it_o be_v the_o disorderly_a carriage_n of_o people_n under_o this_o yoke_n that_o make_v it_o so_o difficult_a five_o thou_o complain_v and_o say_v this_o yoke_n be_v hard_a consider_v that_o the_o cast_n of_o the_o yoke_n off_o will_v be_v a_o great_a deal_n hard_o and_o therefore_o there_o be_v no_o cause_n to_o complain_v can_v a_o man_n in_o a_o rational_a way_n complain_v of_o a_o yoke_n to_o be_v hard_a whenas_o the_o cast_n of_o the_o yoke_n off_o will_v be_v a_o hard_a thing_n than_o the_o bear_n of_o it_o therefore_o the_o hebrew_n word_n that_o signify_v sin_n signify_v also_o labour_n and_o trouble_v there_o be_v more_o trouble_n if_o thou_o shall_v cast_v off_o the_o yoke_n thou_o will_v find_v more_o distress_n of_o spirit_n and_o more_o difficulty_n in_o cast_v off_o the_o yoke_n then_o to_o be_v under_o the_o yoke_n it_o be_v true_a those_o that_o be_v carnal_a and_o wicked_a do_v not_o find_v it_o so_o but_o if_o thou_o have_v grace_n if_o thou_o shall_v cast_v off_o the_o duty_n because_o of_o the_o difficulty_n thou_o will_v find_v it_o more_o difficult_a to_o be_v without_o the_o duty_n then_o to_o perform_v it_o as_o i_o will_v instance_n to_o your_o own_o experience_n you_o fiend_n sometime_o that_o your_o heart_n be_v loath_a to_o come_v off_o to_o prayer_n
they_o never_o know_v the_o difference_n between_o the_o comfort_n of_o the_o world_n and_o the_o comfort_n of_o god_n so_o much_o as_o then_o when_o they_o suffer_v say_v ignatius_n when_o the_o wild_a beast_n crush_v his_o bone_n between_o their_o tooth_n now_o i_o begin_v to_o be_v a_o christian_n and_o another_o profess_v he_o have_v rather_o be_v a_o martyr_n than_o work_v miracle_n and_o therefore_o there_o be_v no_o such_o difficulty_n or_o heavy_a burden_n in_o suffer_v for_o christ_n as_o you_o be_v afraid_a of_o many_o poor_a christian_n when_o they_o hear_v what_o thing_n other_o have_v suffer_v they_o think_v oh_o if_o i_o shall_v be_v call_v to_o suffer_v such_o thing_n i_o shall_v never_o go_v through_o they_o be_v not_o discourage_v the_o more_o sensible_a thou_o be_v of_o thy_o weakness_n the_o better_a poor_a woman_n and_o child_n that_o have_v be_v afraid_a to_o suffer_v as_o well_o as_o you_o when_o they_o have_v come_v to_o suffer_v it_o have_v be_v give_v to_o they_o to_o suffer_v a_o mighty_a presence_n have_v come_v from_o jesus_n christ_n upon_o they_o and_o it_o have_v be_v easy_a to_o they_o indeed_o the_o thing_n that_o be_v difficult_a to_o one_o that_o be_v weak_a be_v easy_a to_o one_o that_o be_v strong_a now_o when_o you_o come_v to_o suffer_v for_o christ_n there_o come_v in_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o strength_n from_o christ_n and_o dead_a and_o dull_a and_o you_o rise_v up_o discourage_v but_o what_o be_v the_o reason_n you_o do_v not_o keep_v your_o heart_n all_o the_o day_n long_o in_o a_o pray_a frame_n in_o a_o heavenly_a temper_n and_o frame_v in_o the_o day_n time_n and_o therefore_o when_o you_o come_v to_o pray_v at_o night_n there_o be_v no_o readiness_n in_o your_o heart_n to_o the_o duty_n but_o you_o be_v altogether_o indispose_v to_o it_o and_o so_o to_o come_v unto_o the_o sacrament_n you_o find_v it_o a_o great_a labour_n and_o toil_n to_o prepare_v for_o the_o sacrament_n as_o you_o shall_v i_o speak_v of_o those_o that_o make_v conscience_n of_o preparation_n many_o time_n they_o find_v it_o a_o mighty_a toil_n a_o hard_a work_n i_o but_o christian_n shall_v keep_v themselves_o always_o in_o a_o sacramental_a disposition_n a_o sacramental_a frame_n always_o have_v their_o spirit_n savour_v of_o the_o meditation_n of_o the_o death_n of_o jesus_n christ_n that_o nothing_o shall_v be_v more_o familiar_a to_o a_o christian_n soul_n than_o the_o meditation_n of_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n and_o of_o discern_v the_o lord_n body_n and_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o give_v itself_o likewise_o to_o god_n in_o a_o covenant_n of_o grace_n this_o shall_v be_v continual_o and_o then_o if_o you_o shall_v receive_v the_o sacrament_n every_o day_n you_o may_v be_v fit_a for_o it_o or_o every_o week_n you_o will_v be_v fit_a for_o it_o now_o people_n think_v it_o a_o great_a matter_n and_o make_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o do_v about_o receive_v of_o it_o often_o whereas_o the_o truth_n be_v the_o saint_n of_o god_n they_o shall_v be_v in_o as_o great_a a_o readiness_n to_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n as_o to_o hear_v the_o word_n or_o to_o pray_v and_o that_o will_v be_v a_o mighty_a ease_n unto_o they_o therefore_o if_o thing_n be_v as_o they_o shall_v certain_o it_o will_v be_v more_o convenient_a to_o have_v it_o more_o ordinary_a and_o constant_a every_o lord_n day_n the_o sacrament_n the_o christian_n in_o the_o primitive_a time_n will_v receive_v it_o every_o day_n in_o the_o year_n and_o they_o keep_v their_o heart_n in_o readiness_n to_o such_o kind_n of_o duty_n let_v it_o be_v what_o work_n it_o will_v be_v you_o shall_v be_v patient_a in_o affliction_n if_o affliction_n come_v upon_o you_o and_o your_o heart_n be_v not_o in_o a_o readiness_n to_o alter_v your_o condition_n oh_o it_o will_v be_v a_o grievous_a burden_n to_o exercise_v patience_n it_o will_v be_v a_o hard_a thing_n for_o you_o now_o you_o shall_v keep_v your_o heart_n ready_a for_o every_o condition_n that_o be_v the_o true_a work_n of_o grace_n in_o the_o soul_n to_o keep_v the_o soul_n in_o a_o constant_a bent_n godward_o and_o that_o soul_n will_v do_v thing_n very_o easy_o sometime_o you_o have_v much_o ado_n with_o your_o child_n when_o stranger_n come_v to_o keep_v they_o in_o good_a order_n the_o reason_n be_v you_o neglect_v they_o at_o other_o time_n and_o that_o be_v the_o reason_n that_o they_o trouble_v you_o when_o stranger_n come_v but_o keep_v they_o in_o a_o good_a order_n at_o all_o time_n and_o then_o you_o will_v have_v they_o right_o at_o those_o time_n so_o it_o be_v with_o the_o heart_n keep_v the_o heart_n prepare_v and_o ready_a to_o every_o good_a work_n and_o then_o every_o work_n will_v be_v easy_a object_n but_o you_o will_v say_v that_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o toil_n and_o labour_n to_o keep_v our_o heart_n always_o bend_v and_o ready_a to_o good_a work_n to_o that_o i_o answer_v at_o first_o it_o may_v be_v some_o labour_n and_o toil_n but_o those_o that_o have_v once_o get_v their_o heart_n into_o a_o readiness_n find_v it_o not_o so_o hard_a but_o have_v a_o great_a deal_n
of_o god_n very_o much_o the_o experience_n of_o this_o be_v very_o much_o i_o do_v not_o know_v how_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v but_o certain_o now_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n less_o communion_n between_o god_n people_n than_o former_o the_o time_n have_v be_v when_o some_o that_o have_v be_v alone_o have_v be_v strive_v and_o tug_v and_o can_v not_o get_v their_o heart_n into_o any_o good_a frame_n they_o have_v come_v buâ—_n into_o the_o company_n of_o god_n people_n &_o lay_v their_o experience_n together_o and_o warm_v themselves_o together_o and_o then_o they_o have_v go_v away_o and_o they_o have_v think_v nothing_o too_o hard_o that_o god_n shall_v require_v of_o they_o to_o do_v or_o to_o suffer_v they_o will_v go_v into_o their_o closert_n and_o pour_v out_o their_o heart_n if_o there_o be_v trouble_v in_o the_o family_n between_o wife_n and_o husband_n in_o regard_n of_o passion_n when_o they_o have_v be_v among_o god_n people_n they_o can_v carry_v themselves_o in_o a_o gracious_a manner_n oh_o communion_n much_o communion_n with_o the_o saint_n of_o god_n it_o be_v that_o that_o facilitate_v the_o way_n of_o religion_n we_o know_v in_o travel_v if_o a_o man_n be_v travel_v a_o journey_n all_o alone_o especial_o if_o he_o have_v wind_n and_o weather_n against_o he_o his_o way_n be_v tedious_a to_o he_o very_o hard_a and_o grievous_a and_o he_o be_v tire_v in_o his_o journey_n but_o now_o if_o he_o travel_v and_o have_v good_a company_n and_o good_a discourse_n and_o be_v joyful_a and_o cheerful_a when_o he_o be_v go_v his_o journey_n be_v nothing_o when_o he_o come_v to_o the_o inn_n he_o say_v i_o thank_v god_n i_o be_o not_o weary_a at_o all_o why_o be_v it_o so_o the_o journey_n be_v long_o i_o but_o the_o company_n be_v good_a the_o discourse_n be_v good_a and_o that_o make_v it_o easy_a so_o it_o be_v in_o our_o journey_n to_o heaven_n we_o complain_v of_o tediousness_n in_o our_o journey_n why_o be_v it_o because_o we_o love_v to_o be_v alone_o as_o many_o that_o be_v of_o a_o dumpish_a disposition_n love_v always_o to_o be_v alone_o there_o be_v a_o time_n indeed_o that_o people_n shall_v be_v alone_o &_o they_o have_v sweet_a refresh_n from_o god_n that_o way_n but_o there_o be_v a_o time_n to_o have_v society_n with_o the_o saint_n and_o it_o be_v a_o ordinance_n appoint_v by_o god_n for_o the_o facilitate_v of_o god_n way_n while_o we_o be_v pass_v in_o the_o wilderness_n in_o our_o way_n to_o heaven_n and_o therefore_o make_v conscience_n of_o that_o to_o have_v communion_n with_o the_o people_n of_o god_n to_o spiritualise_v your_o communion_n and_o make_v what_o use_v you_o can_v of_o they_o to_o help_v you_o in_o your_o christian_a course_n 13._o another_o rule_n be_v this_o exercise_v much_o faith_n faith_n do_v facilitate_v every_o action_n as_o unbelief_n make_v every_o thing_n difficult_a let_v a_o man_n be_v put_v upon_o any_o duty_n if_o he_o have_v a_o they_o shall_v not_o pore_v upon_o the_o difficulty_n but_o exercise_v faith_n and_o come_v with_o courage_n to_o the_o duty_n and_o god_n will_v carry_v you_o through_o god_n that_o call_v i_o to_o a_o work_n he_o will_v give_v i_o strength_n in_o the_o work_n and_o therefore_o let_v i_o go_v to_o the_o work_n as_o if_o i_o be_v carry_v through_o it_o already_o go_v on_o with_o confidence_n and_o resolution_n and_o take_v heed_n of_o unbelief_n up_o and_o be_v do_v and_o the_o lord_n will_v be_v with_o you_o so_o do_v you_o say_v to_o your_o soul_n when_o you_o be_v discourage_v in_o the_o work_n oh_o such_o and_o such_o have_v miscarry_v and_o how_o shall_v so_o weak_a a_o soul_n as_o i_o do_v well_o up_o and_o be_v do_v and_o the_o lord_n will_v be_v with_o you_o 14._o last_o do_v not_o satisfy_v yourselves_o that_o you_o have_v grace_n but_o labour_n to_o have_v strength_n of_o grace_n that_o be_v easy_a to_o a_o strong_a man_n that_o be_v hard_a to_o a_o weak_a now_o attain_v unto_o by_o christian_n in_o ephes_n 1._o 18_o 19_o that_o place_n that_o we_o have_v often_o make_v use_n of_o what_o be_v the_o exceed_a greatness_n of_o his_o power_n to_o we_o ward_v which_o believe_v according_a to_o the_o work_n of_o his_o mighty_a power_n mark_v this_o text_n it_o be_v not_o only_o mean_v of_o the_o greatness_n of_o god_n power_n in_o work_a faith_n in_o we_o but_o the_o greatness_n of_o his_o power_n towards_o we_o who_o do_v now_o believe_v god_n do_v put_v forth_o power_n greatness_n of_o power_n and_o exceed_a greatness_n of_o mighty_a power_n and_o the_o same_o that_o he_o wrought_v in_o christ_n when_o he_o raise_v he_o from_o the_o dead_a and_o set_v he_o at_o the_o right_a hand_n of_o god_n thou_o may_v come_v to_o have_v by_o the_o exercise_n of_o faith_n the_o power_n of_o god_n put_v forth_o his_o almighty_a power_n to_o give_v thou_o faith_n so_o now_o by_o the_o exercise_n of_o faith_n thou_o may_v have_v the_o power_n of_o god_n the_o greatness_n of_o his_o power_n the_o mighty_a power_n of_o god_n and_o the_o exceed_a greatness_n of_o the_o mighty_a power_n of_o god_n and_o the_o same_o that_o god_n put_v forth_o when_o he_o raise_v christ_n from_o the_o dead_a &_o set_v he_o at_o the_o right_a hand_n of_o the_o father_n thou_o say_v thou_o have_v a_o dead_a heart_n but_o will_v not_o the_o power_n of_o god_n that_o raise_v christ_n from_o the_o dead_a raise_v thy_o heart_n exercise_n faith_n lord_n i_o go_v about_o such_o a_o business_n it_o be_v difficult_a because_o of_o the_o hardness_n of_o my_o heart_n but_o lord_n will_v not_o the_o power_n that_o raise_v christ_n from_o the_o grave_a raise_v my_o dead_a heart_n and_o so_o lord_z i_o have_v a_o heart_n sink_v down_o to_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o world_n i_o but_o lord_n have_v thou_o not_o promise_v to_o put_v forth_o the_o same_o power_n into_o the_o heart_n of_o thy_o people_n that_o set_v jesus_n christ_n at_o thy_o right_a hand_n will_v not_o that_o power_n raise_v up_o my_o heart_n to_o heaven_n and_o give_v i_o a_o heavenly_a heart_n now_o here_o be_v strengthen_v of_o thy_o faith_n from_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o that_o strength_n that_o the_o scripture_n hold_v forth_o that_o god_n himself_o will_v put_v forth_o into_o the_o heart_n of_o his_o people_n upon_o the_o exercise_n of_o faith_n and_o so_o in_o ephes_n 3._o 16._o that_o he_o will_v grant_v unto_o you_o according_a to_o the_o riches_n of_o his_o glory_n to_o be_v strengthen_v with_o might_n by_o his_o spirit_n in_o the_o inner_a man_n what_o a_o heap_n of_o expression_n be_v here_o therefore_o i_o put_v you_o upon_o this_o not_o to_o content_v yourselves_o with_o weak_a grace_n for_o there_o be_v abundance_n of_o strength_n not_o only_o the_o strength_n in_o christ_n but_o the_o strength_n that_o be_v convey_v into_o the_o heart_n by_o the_o spirit_n of_o jesus_n christ_n it_o be_v one_o thing_n for_o
