the_o sabbath_n wherein_o he_o will_v have_v no_o general_n understand_v but_o only_o a_o commandment_n to_o observe_v that_o particular_a day_n only_o that_o so_o he_o may_v go_v one_o step_n some_o of_o our_o adversary_n in_o this_o controversy_n will_v not_o acknowledge_v any_o set_a time_n or_o day_n to_o be_v moral_a by_o virtue_n of_o this_o commandment_n because_o they_o think_v that_o that_o particular_a seven_o day_n from_o the_o creation_n be_v only_o command_v but_o now_o abolish_v under_o the_o gospel_n and_o it_o only_o be_v command_v they_o say_v because_o it_o be_v only_o express_v and_o make_v mention_n of_o in_o the_o commandment_n i_o confess_v that_o that_o particular_a seven_o be_v express_v and_o point_v at_o but_o not_o only_o express_v as_o we_o shall_v show_v in_o fit_a place_n but_o suppose_v it_o be_v grant_v that_o that_o seven_o only_o be_v express_v yet_o it_o will_v not_o follow_v that_o therefore_o a_o seven_o day_n and_o consequent_o a_o day_n and_o consequent_o a_o time_n of_o worship_n be_v exclude_v for_o look_v as_o it_o be_v in_o the_o second_o commandment_n we_o see_v the_o worship_n of_o a_o grave_a image_n be_v particular_o enjoin_v by_o command_v that_o particular_a seven_o in_o the_o four_o commandment_n other_o of_o our_o adversary_n on_o the_o contrary_a acknowledge_v therefore_o that_o in_o this_o particular_a seven_o which_o they_o make_v ceremonial_a something_o more_o general_a and_o moral_a be_v herein_o require_v but_o this_o general_n they_o limit_v to_o a_o time_n or_o some_o day_n of_o worship_n but_o a_o seven_o day_n which_o be_v more_o general_a than_o that_o particular_a seven_o yet_o less_o general_a than_o a_o day_n or_o time_n they_o fly_v from_o this_o as_o from_o some_o serpent_n or_o bugbear_n and_o will_v not_o admit_v it_o as_o any_o thing_n general_o moral_a in_o this_o commandment_n but_o it_o be_v very_o observable_a in_o this_o controversy_n that_o upon_o the_o same_o ground_n on_o which_o they_o will_v exclude_v this_o general_a of_o a_o seven_o from_o be_v moral_a they_o may_v as_o well_o exclude_v their_o own_o general_n viz._n a_o time_n or_o a_o day_n from_o be_v moral_a for_o if_o they_o think_v it_o irrational_a that_o because_o a_o particular_a seven_o day_n be_v require_v that_o therefore_o a_o seven_o day_n more_o general_n can_v be_v command_v why_o be_v it_o not_o as_o irrational_a upon_o the_o same_o ground_n to_o exclude_v a_o time_n a_o day_n also_o sure_o a_o seven_o day_n lie_v near_o the_o bosom_n of_o a_o particular_a seven_o and_o be_v of_o near_a kin_n to_o it_o then_o a_o day_n and_o i_o marvel_v that_o they_o shall_v gather_v a_o solemn_a time_n and_o day_n of_o worship_n which_o be_v more_o general_a rather_o than_o a_o seven_o out_o of_o that_o particular_a day_n as_o not_o possible_o to_o be_v intend_v although_o in_o a_o manner_n express_v in_o the_o commandment_n itself_o i_o know_v there_o be_v some_o who_o think_v that_o there_o be_v nothing_o general_o moral_a in_o this_o commandment_n but_o a_o seven_o day_n which_o unless_o it_o be_v well_o and_o wary_o explicate_v i_o then_o crave_v leave_v to_o concur_v thus_o far_o with_o our_o adversary_n viz._n that_o a_o solemn_a time_n and_o a_o day_n of_o worship_n be_v general_o moral_a in_o this_o command_n but_o not_o only_o moral_a but_o that_o a_o seven_o day_n also_o which_o god_n shall_v determine_v be_v general_o yea_o principal_o moral_a also_o in_o this_o commandment_n thesis_n 51._o first_o therefore_o that_o which_o be_v most_o general_o moral_a in_o this_o command_n be_v that_o which_o be_v call_v tempus_fw-la cultus_fw-la or_o the_o time_n of_o worship_n now_o this_o time_n must_v either_o be_v indeterminate_a time_n which_o necessary_o god_n ordinance_n and_o that_o with_o all_o holy_a preparation_n and_o reverence_n also_o thesis_n 54._o the_o exercise_n of_o worship_n be_v one_o thing_n the_o worship_n itself_o be_v another_o it_o for_o the_o worship_n sake_n 2._o concrete_o as_o it_o be_v whole_o sanctify_a and_o set_v apart_o for_o god_n or_o as_o it_o be_v a_o holy_a time_n set_v a_o part_n for_o holy_a rest_n that_o so_o therefore_o to_o attend_v and_o in_o this_o respect_n be_v for_o this_o time_n and_o not_o the_o time_n for_o they_o viz._n that_o when_o the_o time_n of_o the_o exercise_n of_o some_o holy_a duty_n do_v cease_v the_o time_n of_o holy_a rest_n or_o holy_a time_n must_v then_o cease_v also_o thesis_n 57_o nor_o shall_v it_o seem_v strange_a that_o holy_a duty_n shall_v attend_v holy_a time_n and_o be_v for_o the_o sake_n of_o such_o time_n because_o although_o it_o be_v true_a that_o this_o time_n be_v sanctify_v that_o man_n may_v perform_v holy_a duty_n yet_o man_n be_v now_o call_v to_o the_o performance_n of_o all_o holy_a duty_n that_o he_o may_v last_o honour_n god_n in_o all_o holiness_n in_o such_o a_o special_a time_n which_o time_n if_o any_o humane_a power_n only_o shall_v say_v he_o if_o god_n have_v not_o declare_v his_o will_n by_o a_o commandment_n particular_o to_o labour_v six_o day_n and_o rest_v the_o seven_o the_o jew_n will_v not_o have_v think_v themselves_o man_n and_o the_o example_n hereof_o moral_o bind_v in_o god_n 3._o such_o law_n which_o man_n reason_n may_v see_v either_o by_o innate_a light_n or_o by_o any_o other_o external_a help_n and_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o although_o man_n reason_n can_v see_v the_o equity_n of_o some_o law_n antecedenter_n by_o innate_a light_n before_o it_o be_v illuminate_v by_o some_o external_a light_n yet_o if_o by_o this_o external_a light_n the_o mind_n see_v the_o equity_n justice_n and_o holiness_n of_o such_o a_o law_n this_o may_v sufficient_o argue_v the_o morality_n of_o such_o a_o law_n which_o be_v just_a and_o good_a before_o any_o light_n discover_v it_o and_o be_v now_o discover_v only_o not_o make_v to_o be_v so_o whether_o by_o internal_a or_o external_a light_n and_o external_a light_n and_o teach_n from_o above_o shall_v reveal_v this_o time_n and_o the_o equity_n and_o suitableness_n of_o it_o so_o that_o reason_n shall_v acknowledge_v it_o equal_a and_o good_a that_o if_o we_o have_v six_o day_n for_o ourselves_o god_n shall_v have_v one_o for_o himself_o this_o be_v a_o strong_a argument_n that_o such_o a_o command_n be_v moral_a because_o reason_n thus_o illuminate_v can_v but_o acknowledge_v it_o most_o meet_a and_o equal_a for_o though_o reason_n may_v not_o by_o any_o natural_a or_o innate_a light_n ready_o see_v that_o such_o a_o division_n of_o what_o ever_o law_n be_v once_o write_v upon_o man_n heart_n in_o pure_a nature_n be_v still_o suitable_a and_o congruous_a and_o convenient_a to_o humane_a nature_n and_o consequent_o good_a in_o itself_o and_o moral_a for_o whatever_o be_v so_o write_v upon_o adam_n heart_n be_v not_o write_v there_o as_o upon_o a_o private_a person_n but_o as_o a_o common_a person_n have_v the_o common_a nature_n of_o man_n
and_o stand_v in_o the_o room_n of_o all_o mankind_n hence_o as_o nothing_o be_v write_v then_o but_o what_o be_v common_a to_o all_o man_n so_o such_o thing_n thus_o write_v be_v good_a for_o all_o man_n and_o suitable_a to_o all_o man_n it_o be_v most_o injurious_a to_o god_n to_o think_v that_o any_o thing_n evil_a shall_v be_v imprint_v there_o if_o therefore_o it_o be_v prove_v that_o the_o god_n after_o his_o own_o will_n because_o the_o thing_n themselves_o be_v not_o good_a in_o themselves_o nor_o needful_a but_o if_o god_n shall_v determine_v we_o to_o observe_v a_o sabbath_n day_n this_o determination_n do_v not_o take_v away_o the_o morality_n of_o the_o command_n because_o it_o be_v good_a in_o itself_o to_o give_v god_n the_o meet_a and_o fit_a proportion_n of_o time_n for_o holy_a rest_n and_o the_o commandment_n declare_v that_o this_o seven_o part_n or_o so_o be_v such_o a_o time_n hence_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o this_o time_n be_v good_a in_o itself_o and_o therefore_o determination_n by_o the_o commandment_n in_o this_o case_n do_v not_o abolish_v the_o morality_n hereof_o it_o be_v a_o moral_a duty_n to_o pay_v tribute_n to_o caesar_n to_o give_v to_o caesar_n that_o which_o be_v caesar_n hence_o because_o a_o man_n may_v give_v too_o much_o or_o too_o little_a to_o he_o that_o determination_n which_o direct_v we_o to_o that_o particular_a which_o because_o a_o man_n may_v be_v tempt_v to_o pray_v too_o oft_o or_o else_o too_o seldom_o hence_o determination_n of_o the_o fit_a and_o this_o fit_a season_n make_v this_o or_o that_o moral_a so_o it_o be_v here_o in_o the_o sabbath_n i_o do_v willing_o and_o free_o profess_v thus_o far_o with_o our_o adversary_n of_o the_o morality_n of_o the_o sabbath_n that_o it_o be_v a_o moral_a duty_n form_n of_o worship_n duty_n grace_n prayer_n ordinance_n etc._n etc._n from_o whence_o it_o will_v follow_v from_o his_o principle_n for_o i_o know_v not_o his_o practice_n that_o all_o form_n of_o most_o equal_a and_o fit_a proportion_n of_o time_n all_o thing_n consider_v between_o god_n and_o man_n the_o appointment_n therefore_o of_o a_o seven_o rather_o then_o a_o six_o or_o four_o be_v not_o a_o act_n of_o god_n mere_a will_n only_o as_o our_o adversary_n affirm_v and_o therefore_o they_o think_v it_o not_o moral_a but_o it_o be_v and_o be_v a_o act_n of_o his_o wisdom_n also_o shall_v not_o each_o night_n continue_v as_o long_o and_o therefore_o that_o the_o first_o darkness_n do_v continue_v such_o a_o time_n before_o the_o creation_n of_o the_o light_n thesis_n 88_o but_o
