reply_v you_o like_v all_o this_o well_o enough_o this_o be_v that_o you_o will_v have_v and_o you_o agree_v with_o i_o to_o stay_v away_o as_o perceive_v your_o own_o unfitnesse_n and_o be_v you_o indeed_o resolve_v to_o stay_v away_o and_o to_o continue_v in_o this_o unprepared_a posture_n as_o think_v you_o have_v hereby_o some_o more_o dispensation_n for_o a_o careless_a ungodly_a life_n than_o other_o have_v alas_o poor_a wretch_n how_o willing_a you_o be_v to_o be_v cheat_v into_o misery_n and_o how_o desirous_a do_v you_o seem_v of_o a_o freedom_n to_o do_v yourselves_o the_o great_a mischief_n but_o a_o little_a to_o undeceive_v you_o let_v i_o assure_v all_o you_o that_o live_v upon_o this_o earth_n and_o be_v endue_v with_o reason_n whether_o you_o will_v bind_v yourselves_o to_o god_n by_o this_o sacrament_n or_o not_o there_o lie_v so_o many_o other_o indispensable_a engagement_n on_o you_o to_o his_o service_n that_o you_o have_v not_o the_o least_o liberty_n more_o than_o other_o to_o rebel_v against_o he_o and_o that_o will_v sufficient_o appear_v if_o you_o do_v but_o consider_v these_o two_o thing_n 1._o the_o relation_n wherein_o you_o natural_o and_o necessary_o stand_v to_o god_n 2._o your_o more_o express_a and_o profess_a obligation_n to_o he_o for_o the_o first_o consider_v be_v you_o not_o his_o creature_n and_o â—e_v your_o maker_n and_o be_v he_o not_o the_o upholder_n of_o your_o be_v the_o lengthener_n of_o your_o life_n and_o the_o giver_n of_o all_o your_o mercy_n be_v he_o not_o therefore_o your_o owner_n and_o governor_n do_v you_o not_o owe_v yourselves_o and_o all_o you_o have_v to_o he_o and_o be_v it_o not_o your_o duty_n to_o serve_v and_o obey_v he_o whether_o you_o have_v promise_v you_o will_v do_v you_o in_o this_o case_n as_o with_o a_o servant_n that_o owe_v this_o man_n or_o that_o no_o duty_n till_o he_o have_v hire_v himself_o into_o his_o service_n sure_o you_o can_v be_v so_o stupid_a but_o rather_o will_v you_o not_o yield_v that_o from_o your_o very_a birth_n you_o be_v at_o least_o as_o much_o oblige_v to_o obedience_n to_o your_o maker_n as_o any_o child_n to_o his_o parent_n and_o pray_v tell_v i_o what_o will_v you_o think_v of_o that_o child_n who_o when_o his_o father_n bid_v he_o do_v any_o thing_n shall_v stubborn_o refuse_v and_o tell_v he_o he_o never_o promise_v he_o any_o such_o obedience_n will_v you_o think_v this_o a_o satisfactory_a answer_n do_v you_o not_o easy_o perceive_v that_o child_n be_v bind_v to_o obey_v their_o parent_n even_o by_o virtue_n of_o that_o relation_n they_o stand_v in_o to_o they_o though_o they_o never_o enter_v into_o any_o formal_a engagement_n to_o be_v dutiful_a even_o thus_o do_v you_o stand_v absolute_o bind_v to_o obey_v god_n the_o father_n of_o spirit_n before_o ever_o you_o profess_v you_o self_n to_o be_v his_o people_n and_o all_o your_o profession_n though_o they_o be_v as_o so_o many_o far_a tie_n upon_o you_o to_o obedience_n yet_o they_o give_v not_o god_n any_o new_a right_a to_o you_o which_o before_o he_o have_v not_o only_o hereby_o you_o acknowledge_v his_o right_n and_o promise_v to_o render_v he_o what_o be_v his_o due_n hence_o than_o you_o may_v see_v what_o a_o absurd_a conceit_n it_o be_v that_o you_o may_v any_o whit_n more_o free_o sin_n against_o god_n before_o you_o have_v take_v the_o sacrament_n than_o after_o can_v you_o be_v so_o sottish_a as_o to_o imagine_v that_o such_o excuse_n as_o these_o will_v serve_v your_o turn_n at_o that_o day_n when_o you_o must_v be_v call_v to_o render_v a_o reason_n of_o your_o do_v when_o the_o gospel_n first_o come_v to_o the_o heathen_n i_o hope_v you_o will_v grant_v they_o be_v bind_v to_o receive_v it_o and_o yet_o they_o have_v never_o before_o give_v their_o consent_n to_o be_v rule_v by_o christ_n nor_o have_v make_v any_o covenant_n with_o he_o but_o why_o stand_v i_o so_o long_o on_o a_o case_n so_o plain_a and_o then_o take_v notice_n far_o that_o by_o virtue_n of_o this_o subjection_n which_o you_o owe_v to_o god_n as_o his_o creature_n you_o be_v bind_v to_o express_v your_o resolution_n to_o serve_v he_o by_o what_o sign_n and_o in_o what_o manner_n he_o shall_v appoint_v you_o now_o he_o have_v command_v you_o to_o express_v these_o resolution_n by_o receive_v the_o lord_n supper_n as_o i_o have_v before_o prove_v and_o will_v you_o disobey_v this_o particular_a command_n and_o then_o think_v this_o will_v excuse_v you_o from_o obedience_n to_o the_o rest_n to_o make_v the_o case_n plain_a by_o a_o like_a instance_n suppose_v when_o the_o king_n have_v command_v all_o his_o subject_n to_o repair_v to_o several_a place_n in_o the_o kingdom_n there_o to_o take_v the_o oath_n of_o allegiance_n many_o among_o they_o shall_v absent_v themselves_o and_o refuse_v to_o take_v it_o and_o afterward_o shall_v conspire_v together_o and_o rise_v up_o in_o arm_n against_o he_o do_v you_o think_v it_o will_v excuse_v they_o to_o plead_v that_o they_o never_o swear_v allegiance_n to_o he_o why_o first_o it_o be_v their_o fault_n that_o they_o do_v not_o since_o they_o be_v command_v to_o do_v it_o and_o then_o however_o they_o be_v engage_v to_o peace_n and_o faithfulness_n by_o live_v in_o the_o kingdom_n and_o receive_v protection_n from_o their_o prince_n even_o thus_o will_v your_o neglect_n of_o sacrament_n be_v charge_v on_o you_o as_o a_o fault_n for_o which_o you_o have_v no_o reason_n but_o will_v be_v far_o from_o be_v admit_v as_o a_o excuse_n of_o any_o other_o sin_n
against_o which_o you_o be_v sufficient_o tie_v by_o your_o live_n mere_o upon_o god_n and_o receive_v all_o you_o have_v from_o he_o but_o then_o in_o the_o second_o place_n consider_v you_o be_v already_o oblige_v by_o your_o own_o promise_n and_o profession_n to_o walk_v in_o the_o fear_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o therefore_o have_v not_o the_o least_o ground_n to_o allow_v yourselves_o in_o sin_n from_o your_o not_o have_v receive_v the_o loâ—ds_n supper_n as_o a_o engagement_n against_o it_o for_o bethink_v you_o a_o little_a do_v you_o not_o profess_v yourselves_o to_o be_v christian_n and_o what_o be_v the_o meaning_n of_o that_o but_o that_o you_o worship_v god_n by_o jesus_n christ_n and_o acknowledge_v he_o to_o be_v your_o maker_n and_o ruler_n and_o christ_n to_o be_v your_o saviour_n and_o accord_o be_v you_o not_o devote_v to_o god_n by_o baptism_n whereby_o you_o stand_v bind_v to_o renounce_v the_o devil_n the_o world_n and_o the_o flesh_n and_o to_o be_v christ_n faithful_a servant_n to_o your_o life_n end_v i_o confess_v you_o be_v thus_o consecrate_v to_o god_n by_o your_o parent_n in_o you_o infancy_n when_o according_a to_o the_o law_n of_o god_n and_o nature_n they_o have_v full_a power_n thus_o to_o dispose_v of_o you_o but_o now_o you_o be_v come_v to_o year_n of_o discretion_n do_v you_o consent_v to_o what_o they_o have_v do_v or_o not_o in_o plain_a english_a do_v you_o renounce_v your_o baptism_n whereby_o you_o stand_v oblige_v to_o be_v the_o servant_n of_o god_n and_o his_o son_n christ_n jesus_n you_o that_o i_o be_o now_o speak_v to_o will_n i_o know_v deny_v this_o with_o great_a earnestness_n and_o cry_v god_n forbid_v that_o you_o shall_v be_v such_o apostate_n wretch_n from_o christian_n to_o turn_v heathen_n and_o infidel_n well_o then_o if_o you_o acknowledge_v yourselves_o under_o the_o bond_n of_o your_o baptism_n assure_v yourselves_o you_o be_v hereby_o as_o much_o tie_v from_o the_o least_o sin_n in_o thought_n word_n or_o deed_n as_o you_o can_v be_v by_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n what_o will_v you_o do_v then_o in_o this_o case_n will_v you_o dare_v to_o run_v on_o in_o those_o sin_n from_o which_o your_o baptism_n do_v bind_v you_o and_o so_o renounce_v it_o in_o your_o practice_n whilst_o you_o own_v it_o in_o profession_n or_o will_v you_o hereafter_o be_v so_o silly_a as_o to_o abstain_v from_o the_o communion_n for_o fear_v of_o engage_v yourselves_o to_o a_o holy_a life_n to_o which_o you_o stand_v engage_v already_o by_o your_o own_o consent_n if_o you_o continue_v in_o this_o mind_n it_o be_v too_o plain_a a_o sign_n that_o in_o your_o heart_n you_o disow_v your_o baptism_n itself_o and_o what_o a_o case_n be_v you_o in_o then_o for_o let_v i_o ask_v you_o if_o you_o have_v be_v bear_v of_o heathen_a parent_n and_o be_v but_o just_a now_o come_v to_o the_o understanding_n of_o the_o christian_a religion_n and_o be_v acquaint_v what_o kind_n of_o if_o you_o say_v you_o will_v ready_o be_v baptize_v if_o it_o be_v yet_o to_o do_v then_o fain_o will_v i_o know_v why_o you_o be_v so_o backward_o to_o receive_v the_o lord_n supper_n wherein_o you_o do_v but_o renew_v the_o covenant_n that_o be_v make_v at_o baptism_n acknowledge_v yourselves_o to_o be_v true_a christian_n and_o promise_v that_o you_o will_v remain_v so_o what_o possible_a reason_n can_v you_o devise_v for_o this_o unwillingness_n withal_o take_v notice_n all_o you_o that_o be_v baptize_v into_o the_o name_n and_o church_n of_o christ_n and_o do_v stand_v to_o your_o baptism_n you_o have_v hereby_o bind_v yourselves_o to_o be_v his_o faithful_a servant_n to_o obey_v his_o command_n and_o to_o behave_v yourselves_o in_o his_o church_n as_o he_o direct_v you_o now_o be_v so_o straitlie_o engage_v to_o it_o and_o further_o beside_o your_o own_o baptism_n you_o father_n that_o have_v child_n every_o time_n you_o bring_v they_o to_o be_v baptize_v do_v profess_v before_o god_n and_o the_o congregation_n that_o you_o renounce_v the_o devil_n the_o world_n and_o the_o sinful_a lust_n of_o the_o flesh_n that_o you_o believe_v the_o article_n of_o the_o christian_a faith_n and_o will_v keep_v god_n holy_a will_n and_o commandment_n &_o walk_v in_o the_o same_o all_o the_o day_n of_o your_o life_n and_o be_v you_o sincere_a in_o all_o this_o if_o of_o he_o pardon_n of_o sin_n and_o grace_n to_o do_v he_o faithful_a service_n when_o you_o say_v the_o lord_n prayer_n do_v you_o not_o therein_o beseech_v god_n to_o forgive_v you_o your_o trespass_n and_o not_o to_o lead_v you_o into_o temptation_n but_o deliver_v you_o from_o evil_n and_o what_o dare_v you_o ask_v of_o he_o forgiveness_n of_o sin_n whilst_o you_o be_v resolve_v to_o continue_v in_o it_o still_o i_o presume_v you_o hope_v to_o obtain_v what_o you_o ask_v and_o can_v you_o so_o much_o as_o flatter_v yourselves_o with_o any_o hope_n that_o god_n will_v pardon_v of_o satan_n be_v it_o not_o to_o be_v suppose_v that_o you_o desire_v these_o thing_n and_o do_v not_o the_o expression_n of_o your_o desire_n engage_v you_o to_o do_v what_o you_o can_v to_o obtain_v what_o you_o pray_v for_o and_o be_v you_o not_o therefore_o bind_v to_o take_v heed_n of_o sin_n to_o watch_v against_o and_o resist_v temptation_n except_o you_o take_v god_n for_o a_o idol_n and_o make_v your_o prayer_n in_o a_o mockery_n as_o if_o your_o servant_n shall_v come_v and_o entreat_v you_o to_o help_v he_o do_v his_o work_n and_o then_o run_v away_o and_o never_o set_v resolve_v not_o wilful_o to_o destroy_v and_o damn_v yourselves_o or_o else_o you_o be_v horrid_a mocker_n of_o god_n methinks_v you_o shall_v never_o have_v the_o impudence_n to_o come_v near_o he_o or_o speak_v a_o word_n to_o he_o whilst_o you_o be_v full_o bend_v to_o go_v on_o in_o those_o way_n that_o be_v so_o contrary_a and_o provoke_a to_o he_o the_o like_a i_o may_v say_v of_o hear_v the_o word_n you_o be_v thereby_o engage_v to_o give_v obedience_n to_o it_o for_o you_o can_v think_v sure_a you_o serve_v god_n sufficient_o by_o hear_v your_o duty_n whilst_o you_o set_v not_o about_o it_o and_o for_o you_o to_o come_v to_o hear_v what_o god_n shall_v say_v by_o his_o minister_n with_o a_o secret_a purpose_n to_o hold_v on_o in_o such_o and_o such_o

this_o conceit_n that_o there_o be_v no_o good_a to_o be_v get_v by_o frequent_v the_o lord_n table_n be_v these_o demand_v one_o by_o one_o whether_o they_o have_v not_o find_v the_o contrary_a i_o believe_v the_o most_o of_o they_o will_v profess_v they_o have_v though_o through_o their_o own_o fault_n they_o will_v acknowledge_v they_o have_v not_o hereby_o profit_v so_o much_o as_o they_o may_v how_o many_o poor_a soul_n have_v come_v hither_o heavy_a and_o dull_a and_o have_v go_v away_o enliven_v how_o many_o have_v come_v deject_v and_o sad_a and_o have_v go_v away_o refresh_v and_o cheer_v and_o have_v long_o after_o enjoy_v the_o benefit_n of_o this_o duty_n but_o if_o they_o who_o make_v this_o objection_n never_o find_v any_o such_o thing_n it_o will_v speak_v more_o modesty_n and_o justice_n too_o to_o lay_v the_o blame_n on_o themselves_o rather_o than_o on_o the_o mean_n which_o christ_n have_v afford_v they_o 12._o last_o i_o will_v desire_v all_o that_o be_v impartial_a to_o consider_v how_o plain_o god_n have_v witness_v against_o this_o sort_n of_o man_n who_o be_v the_o chief_a patron_n of_o that_o opinion_n i_o oppose_v in_o suffer_v they_o to_o be_v so_o infatuate_v and_o besot_v in_o their_o own_o mind_n that_o whilst_o they_o have_v impudent_o dare_v to_o reject_v the_o ordinance_n of_o christ_n as_o needless_a thing_n they_o themselves_o have_v dote_v upon_o the_o most_o ridiculous_a inconsiderable_a trifle_n as_o if_o they_o be_v matter_n of_o some_o huge_a consequence_n have_v not_o those_o very_a man_n who_o cry_v down_o the_o lord_n supper_n and_o baptism_n of_o one_o sort_n or_o other_o beside_o many_o other_o duty_n as_o formal_a thing_n yet_o with_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o earnestness_n call_v upon_o we_o to_o say_v thou_o rather_o than_o you_o to_o a_o single_a person_n not_o to_o call_v man_n master_n nor_o to_o put_v off_o our_o hat_n one_o to_o another_o with_o a_o multitude_n the_o like_a foppery_n these_o it_o seem_v be_v substantial_a thing_n which_o they_o have_v devise_v whilst_o christ_n own_o appointment_n be_v empty_a and_o carnal_a what_o be_v this_o but_o a_o mark_v set_v upon_o they_o and_o few_o sect_n be_v without_o one_o to_o let_v the_o world_n know_v they_o come_v not_o from_o god_n that_o none_o who_o be_v considerative_a may_v be_v endanger_v by_o their_o delusion_n and_o let_v this_o suffice_v for_o answer_v to_o the_o first_o objection_n whereon_o i_o have_v be_v the_o large_a in_o that_o it_o be_v of_o such_o ill_a consequence_n and_o have_v too_o far_o spread_v itself_o among_o giddy_a unstable_a people_n chap._n xiii_o against_o too_o seldom_o communicate_v in_o the_o sacrament_n 2._o obj._n in_o the_o next_o place_n some_o may_v say_v we_o have_v already_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n and_o so_o have_v satisfy_v the_o command_n of_o christ_n and_o therefore_o may_v be_v excuse_v from_o it_o for_o the_o future_a i_o shall_v scarce_o have_v dream_v of_o such_o a_o objection_n have_v i_o not_o hear_v it_o use_v but_o to_o dispatch_v it_o in_o two_o word_n 1._o i_o have_v before_o acknowledge_v that_o christ_n have_v not_o tell_v we_o how_o frequent_o or_o how_o oft_o in_o our_o life_n we_o must_v perform_v this_o duty_n but_o yet_o we_o may_v learn_v from_o the_o word_n of_o the_o apostle_n 1_o cor._n 11.26_o that_o it_o be_v to_o be_v do_v more_o than_o once_o for_o say_v he_o as_o often_o as_o you_o eat_v etc._n etc._n i._n e._n every_o time_n that_o you_o eat_v and_o then_o i_o have_v show_v you_o what_o be_v the_o practice_n of_o the_o first_o christian_n which_o may_v well_o hold_v the_o place_n of_o a_o rule_n in_o this_o case_n wherefore_o you_o ought_v to_o obey_v the_o injunction_n of_o your_o pastor_n so_o oft_o as_o he_o shall_v in_o prudence_n think_v meet_v to_o call_v you_o to_o the_o lord_n table_n since_o you_o have_v so_o much_o reason_n for_o obedience_n and_o none_o to_o allege_v for_o your_o refusal_n 2._o and_o in_o the_o next_o place_n pray_v tell_v i_o have_v you_o any_o reason_n for_o this_o duty_n when_o you_o first_o perform_v it_o you_o will_v scarce_o say_v no_o i_o suppose_v and_o if_o you_o have_v any_o than_o i_o ask_v whether_o the_o same_o reason_n do_v not_o still_o continue_v if_o it_o do_v why_o shall_v not_o your_o practice_n be_v continue_v agreeable_o thereto_o have_v you_o not_o still_o some_o necessity_n of_o soul_n which_o may_v here_o be_v supply_v as_o well_o as_o you_o have_v then_o be_v not_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n as_o well_o worthy_a your_o remembrance_n now_o as_o former_o and_o if_o you_o heretofore_o receive_v any_o advantage_n by_o what_o you_o do_v i_o think_v you_o shall_v be_v the_o more_o incline_v to_o hold_v on_o therein_o but_o here_o perhaps_o some_o may_v reply_v put_v the_o objection_n in_o another_o shape_n that_o they_o have_v often_o attend_v on_o this_o ordinance_n and_o yet_o have_v find_v no_o advantage_n by_o it_o and_o therefore_o be_v out_o of_o heart_n and_o hope_n be_v ready_a to_o throw_v it_o quite_o off_o to_o who_o i_o answer_v 1._o if_o it_o be_v thus_o indeed_o you_o have_v great_a reason_n to_o acknowledge_v the_o fault_n be_v your_o own_o either_o you_o have_v not_o be_v so_o diligent_a in_o your_o preparation_n as_o you_o ought_v or_o else_o you_o have_v be_v careless_a afterward_o think_v you_o have_v do_v when_o the_o work_n be_v over_o as_o if_o no_o more_o be_v require_v to_o make_v a_o sacrament_n strengthen_v to_o your_o soul_n than_o to_o make_v food_n nourish_v to_o your_o body_n bare_o to_o receive_v it_o and_o there_o be_v a_o end_n when_o as_o there_o be_v a_o serious_a consideration_n of_o what_o you_o have_v do_v and_o a_o constant_a watchfulness_n afterward_o necessary_a to_o make_v it_o beneficical_a to_o you_o as_o i_o may_v have_v occasion_n to_o show_v a_o non_fw-la and_o especial_o see_v that_o you_o give_v not_o a_o kind_n of_o allowance_n to_o some_o pleasant_a sin_n or_o oâ—her_n which_o you_o be_v hardly_o willing_a to_o be_v quite_o deliver_v from_o such_o a_o secret_a partial_a cherish_n of_o any_o lust_n whatever_o will_v be_v sure_a to_o keep_v you_o low_a and_o barren_a and_o render_v all_o mean_n unprofitable_a and_o thus_o be_v it_o also_o like_a to_o be_v with_o you_o if_o you_o be_v swallow_v up_o in_o worldly_a business_n or_o do_v too_o sweet_o relish_v any_o sensible_a enjoyment_n 2._o you_o who_o complain_v you_o can_v get_v nothing_o by_o sacrament_n will_v say_v the_o same_o i_o suppose_v by_o other_o mean_n and_o duty_n and_o will_v you_o therefore_o cast_v off_o these_o two_o will_v you_o lay_v aside_o hear_v and_o pray_v upon_o this_o pretence_n you_o may_v as_o well_o for_o the_o reason_n hold_v as_o good_a for_o one_o as_o the_o other_o 3._o but_o far_o i_o will_v have_v you_o beware_v of_o mistake_v yourselves_o imagine_v that_o you_o profit_v not_o when_o you_o do_v and_o therefore_o consider_v what_o your_o expectation_n have_v be_v and_o what_o you_o have_v find_v perhaps_o you_o have_v expect_v great_a joy_n and_o as_o it_o be_v sensible_a assurance_n of_o god_n love_n and_o to_o be_v afterward_o free_v from_o all_o trouble_n and_o doubt_n or_o you_o have_v expect_v a_o perfect_a freedom_n from_o some_o troublesome_a temptation_n wherewith_o you_o use_v to_o be_v haunt_v and_o from_o the_o very_a first_o motion_n of_o sin_n in_o yourselves_o and_o because_o you_o have_v find_v none_o of_o this_o in_o those_o measure_n you_o look_v for_o therefore_o you_o conclude_v you_o have_v meet_v with_o nothing_o but_o this_o be_v no_o right_a argue_v for_o these_o be_v privilege_n that_o you_o may_v go_v without_o alâ—_n your_o day_n and_o yet_o thrive_v under_o the_o mean_n too_o and_o therefore_o by_o they_o you_o can_v judge_v of_o your_o profit_v but_o if_o you_o can_v find_v the_o strength_n of_o sin_n break_v and_o your_o heart_n more_o set_v against_o it_o and_o you_o be_v more_o thorough_o persuade_v to_o comply_v with_o the_o whole_a will_n of_o god_n be_v firm_o resolve_v to_o keep_v close_o to_o he_o to_o the_o last_o discover_v more_o and_o more_o the_o emptiness_n of_o all_o creature_n and_o his_o alsufficiency_n be_v more_o prevalent_o
also_o 3._o pray_v tell_v i_o notwithstanding_o all_o these_o fault_n which_o you_o find_v with_o yourselves_o yet_o do_v you_o not_o hold_v on_o in_o the_o performance_n of_o other_o duty_n to_o instance_n in_o one_o do_v you_o not_o use_v to_o pray_v constant_o if_o you_o do_v why_o then_o will_v you_o not_o be_v bring_v to_o this_o work_n also_o for_o assure_v yourselves_o if_o you_o be_v such_o who_o prayer_n be_v acceptable_a to_o god_n your_o receive_n will_v be_v acceptable_a also_o without_o a_o dependence_n upon_o christ_n the_o mediator_n and_o a_o resolution_n to_o conform_v yourselves_o to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n your_o very_a prayer_n will_v be_v loathsome_a but_o if_o these_o thing_n be_v in_o you_o all_o your_o service_n will_v be_v wel-pleasing_a to_o he_o wherefore_o beware_v of_o pretend_v so_o much_o reverence_n for_o this_o ordinance_n and_o so_o much_o necessity_n of_o preparation_n that_o lest_o you_o shall_v not_o demean_v yourselves_o as_o you_o ought_v you_o will_v whole_o neglect_v it_o for_o sure_a you_o can_v think_v this_o according_a to_o your_o master_n will_n that_o you_o shall_v run_v away_o from_o your_o work_n for_o fear_v of_o miscarry_v in_o it_o nor_o pretend_v that_o this_o be_v of_o a_o nature_n so_o much_o different_a from_o all_o other_o duty_n that_o whilst_o you_o may_v do_v they_o you_o may_v not_o be_v admit_v to_o this_o since_o if_o you_o be_v sincere_a and_o hearty_a in_o one_o as_o well_o as_o another_o endeavour_v to_o improve_v they_o to_o the_o end_n for_o which_o they_o be_v appoint_v even_o to_o get_v near_o to_o god_n thereby_o be_v sure_a you_o shall_v be_v accept_v in_o all_o moreover_o bethink_v yourselves_o what_o you_o will_v have_v do_v have_v you_o live_v in_o the_o first_o age_n of_o the_o church_n when_o the_o christian_n be_v wont_n for_o the_o most_o part_n at_o every_o time_n of_o their_o assemble_v to_o have_v a_o sacrament_n will_v you_o then_o have_v ordinary_o with-drawn_a from_o they_o or_o will_v you_o not_o rather_o have_v content_v yourselves_o with_o that_o measure_n of_o preparation_n that_o you_o have_v then_o be_v capable_a of_o make_v though_o think_v not_o that_o i_o be_o this_o while_n encourage_v you_o to_o laziness_n or_o to_o rush_v heedless_o and_o inconsiderate_o hereupon_o no_o be_v as_o diligent_a as_o ever_o you_o be_v able_a to_o prepare_v yourselves_o for_o so_o near_o a_o approach_n to_o the_o great_a god_n but_o yet_o be_v not_o so_o over-scrupulous_a as_o to_o keep_v back_o from_o the_o ordinance_n or_o make_v your_o come_n less_o profitable_a through_o excessive_a fear_n and_o remember_v still_o that_o the_o habitual_a devotednesse_n of_o the_o soul_n to_o god_n without_o any_o hypocritical_a reserve_n be_v the_o best_a qualification_n for_o this_o and_o every_o other_o performance_n 4._o last_o one_o will_v think_v you_o of_o all_o person_n shall_v not_o be_v guilty_a of_o refuse_v your_o presence_n here_o where_o there_o be_v a_o commemoration_n make_v of_o the_o love_n of_o your_o dear_a lord_n i_o speak_v to_o you_o that_o be_v serious_a christian_n well_o may_v other_o slight_n this_o duty_n if_o you_o that_o lie_v under_o so_o great_a engagement_n to_o it_o will_v be_v keep_v back_o by_o any_o ordinary_a pretence_n you_o be_v such_o that_o be_v somewhat_o acquaint_v with_o the_o greatness_n of_o that_o mercy_n manifest_v in_o the_o redemption_n of_o the_o world_n and_o will_v you_o be_v easy_o detain_v from_o show_v forth_o that_o death_n which_o procure_v it_o you_o be_v person_n tender_a of_o your_o master_n honour_n and_o sensible_a of_o your_o own_o duty_n show_v then_o that_o you_o be_v so_o by_o obey_v his_o command_n and_o preserve_v the_o esteem_n due_a to_o his_o sacred_a ordinance_n by_o your_o constant_a reverend_a attend_v upon_o they_o other_o there_o be_v that_o may_v complain_v of_o their_o unfitnesse_n who_o find_v themselves_o at_o a_o loss_n in_o their_o preparation_n for_o this_o duty_n which_o yet_o they_o be_v very_o willing_a to_o set_v about_o and_o be_v desirous_a of_o instruction_n for_o their_o right_a performance_n of_o it_o for_o these_o especial_o i_o have_v reserve_v some_o direction_n to_o which_o i_o shall_v come_v present_o but_o there_o be_v a_o three_o sort_n those_o the_o worst_a and_o i_o fear_v the_o most_o who_o will_v confess_v they_o be_v unfit_a for_o the_o sacrament_n and_o therefore_o will_v by_o no_o mean_n be_v draw_v to_o it_o but_o will_v tell_v you_o though_o they_o be_v not_o fit_a now_o yet_o hereafter_o they_o hope_v they_o shall_v be_v whilst_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n there_o be_v no_o sign_n of_o any_o preparation_n they_o make_v for_o come_v to_o they_o one_o month_n or_o year_n after_o another_o still_o they_o be_v in_o the_o same_o posture_n and_o use_v the_o same_o excuse_n now_o the_o very_a plain_a case_n of_o these_o person_n i_o take_v to_o be_v this_o so_o much_o knowledge_n they_o have_v that_o they_o be_v convince_v no_o man_n ought_v to_o come_v to_o the_o sacrament_n who_o be_v not_o firm_o resolve_v to_o forsake_v his_o sin_n and_o to_o become_v a_o new_a man_n if_o before_o he_o have_v be_v a_o careless_a liver_n and_o yet_o their_o conscience_n tell_v they_o that_o such_o and_o such_o sin_n they_o be_v guilty_a of_o which_o they_o can_v endure_v to_o think_v something_o better_o than_o if_o they_o shall_v go_v and_o make_v promise_n of_o amendment_n and_o soon_o after_o break_v they_o and_o be_v apt_a to_o conceit_n that_o they_o may_v as_o yet_o safe_o take_v somewhat_o more_o liberty_n than_o will_v be_v lawful_a for_o they_o when_o once_o they_o have_v take_v the_o sacrament_n whereby_o they_o imagine_v they_o shall_v be_v strange_o hamper_v and_o tie_v to_o a_o strictness_n which_o they_o have_v no_o like_n to_o but_o yet_o hereafter_o when_o they_o have_v taste_v a_o little_a more_o of_o the_o pleasure_n of_o the_o world_n they_o intend_v
