of_o god_n which_o oblige_v we_o to_o be_v content_a with_o the_o portion_n of_o the_o present_a minute_n will_v equal_o oblige_v we_o to_o continue_v our_o contentment_n to_o the_o next_o if_o god_n be_v please_v to_o continue_v the_o other_o for_o these_o reason_n i_o say_v as_o i_o deem_v it_o but_o just_a to_o understand_v by_o the_o present_a time_n all_o that_o time_n of_o what_o continuance_n soever_o to_o which_o god_n shall_v be_v please_v to_o annex_v the_o same_o humble_a fortune_n so_o i_o conceive_v it_o alike_o necessary_a to_o show_v that_o those_o desire_n and_o endeavour_n which_o we_o speak_v of_o be_v no_o way_n inconsistent_a with_o that_o acquiescency_n which_o be_v commensurate_a to_o it_o now_o that_o so_o they_o be_v not_o or_o at_o least_o need_v not_o to_o be_v will_v appear_v if_o these_o two_o condition_n be_v admit_v which_o not_o content_v man_n either_o do_v or_o can_v refuse_v 1._o that_o whilst_o the_o will_n of_o god_n be_v yet_o unknown_a he_o submit_v his_o desire_n to_o it_o and_o resolve_v to_o abide_v by_o the_o determination_n of_o it_o and_o 2._o that_o he_o lay_v aside_o all_o desire_v of_o a_o enlargement_n after_o it_o shall_v appear_v to_o he_o that_o it_o be_v the_o will_n of_o god_n he_o shall_v abide_v in_o that_o mean_a condition_n wherein_o he_o be_v for_o acquiescency_n not_o so_o much_o import_v a_o exclusion_n of_o our_o desire_n as_o the_o quiet_v of_o they_o and_o bring_v they_o into_o subjection_n to_o the_o will_n of_o the_o divine_a majesty_n which_o as_o i_o shall_v afterward_o show_v be_v be_v how_o to_o come_v to_o understand_v whether_o it_o be_v the_o will_n of_o god_n we_o shall_v abide_v in_o that_o condition_n we_o be_v in_o now_o though_o nothing_o herein_o can_v certain_o be_v define_v without_o a_o revelation_n from_o heaven_n partly_o because_o the_o scripture_n which_o be_v one_o way_n of_o know_v god_n will_v be_v silent_a in_o this_o particular_a and_o partly_o because_o his_o providence_n which_o be_v the_o only_a one_o beside_o be_v a_o mysterious_a book_n and_o not_o very_o easy_a to_o be_v unriddle_v yet_o i_o think_v we_o may_v probable_o conjecture_v it_o to_o be_v his_o will_n that_o we_o shall_v so_o abide_v or_o at_o least_o that_o we_o shall_v do_v so_o till_o we_o have_v a_o very_a fair_a invitation_n from_o his_o providence_n to_o stir_v uncertain_a without_o a_o submission_n of_o his_o will_n to_o god_n and_o a_o resolvedness_n to_o acquiesce_v in_o the_o determination_n of_o it_o so_o those_o desire_n and_o endeavour_n of_o his_o cease_v altogether_o where_o it_o either_o certain_o or_o probable_o appear_v to_o he_o to_o be_v the_o will_n of_o god_n that_o he_o shall_v abide_v in_o that_o condition_n wherein_o he_o be_v i_o say_v nothing_o at_o all_o at_o present_a of_o the_o entertain_n of_o immoderate_a or_o anxious_a desire_n or_o use_v any_o unlawful_a mean_n to_o compass_v they_o these_o be_v so_o apparent_o inconsistent_a with_o that_o acquiescency_n of_o mind_n whereof_o we_o speak_v and_o that_o will_v of_o god_n which_o i_o shall_v afterward_o show_v to_o be_v the_o ground_n of_o it_o that_o it_o may_v suffice_v to_o have_v mention_v they_o without_o either_o proof_n or_o explication_n for_o how_o can_v he_o be_v say_v to_o acquiesce_v in_o his_o present_a portion_n and_o much_o more_o in_o the_o will_n of_o god_n concern_v it_o who_o mind_n be_v not_o only_o like_o the_o trouble_a sea_n in_o that_o it_o can_v rest_v but_o be_v ever_o cast_v out_o mire_n and_o dirt_n both_o in_o its_o speech_n and_o action_n neither_o know_v how_o to_o express_v itself_o without_o murmur_v and_o complain_v nor_o to_o prosecute_v the_o object_n of_o its_o desire_n without_o violent_a or_o fraudulent_a action_n which_o that_o god_n in_o who_o will_n they_o ought_v to_o acquiesce_v have_v distinct_o and_o severe_o forbid_v from_o that_o acquiescency_n wherein_o we_o have_v say_v contentedness_n to_o consist_v pass_v we_o to_o that_o in_o which_o it_o oblige_v we_o to_o acquiesce_v which_o i_o have_v say_v to_o be_v that_o portion_n of_o outward_a thing_n we_o be_v possess_v of_o where_o again_o we_o be_v to_o consider_v it_o as_o it_o import_v the_o presence_n of_o some_o portion_n of_o outward_a thing_n and_o as_o it_o import_v that_o portion_n which_o we_o have_v as_o well_o low_a as_o high_a to_o be_v equal_o the_o object_n of_o it_o now_o though_o to_o begin_v with_o the_o first_o it_o be_v general_o necessary_a to_o contentment_n that_o a_o man_n be_v furnish_v with_o such_o thing_n as_o be_v ordinary_o necessary_a for_o his_o support_n and_o particular_o with_o food_n and_o raiment_n upon_o which_o account_n i_o have_v show_v it_o 3_o it_o see_v explic._n of_o the_o eight_o com._n part_n 3_o to_o be_v lawful_a in_o the_o case_n of_o extreme_a necessity_n to_o withdraw_v so_o much_o from_o other_o man_n as_o will_v serve_v to_o supply_v it_o yet_o i_o must_v also_o add_v that_o we_o both_o may_v and_o aught_o to_o be_v content_a even_o when_o we_o be_v without_o those_o necessary_a thing_n where_o it_o appear_v to_o be_v god_n will_n that_o so_o we_o shall_v be_v because_o though_o food_n and_o raiment_n be_v general_o necessary_a to_o contentment_n yet_o they_o be_v not_o absolute_o nor_o universal_o such_o man_z as_o our_o saviour_n argue_v out_o of_o the_o law_n live_v not_o by_o bread_n alone_o but_o by_o every_o word_n that_o proceed_v out_o of_o the_o mouth_n of_o god_n the_o only_a difficulty_n be_v how_o we_o may_v discover_v that_o will_n of_o god_n which_o i_o suppose_v may_v be_v these_o two_o way_n 1._o when_o he_o give_v we_o any_o assurance_n of_o a_o extraordinary_a support_n and_o 2._o when_o he_o place_v we_o in_o
