and_o therefore_o at_o your_o disposal_n your_o will_n be_v take_v for_o their_o will_n so_o far_o as_o you_o act_n in_o their_o name_n and_o on_o their_o behalf_n and_o therefore_o when_o you_o dedicate_v they_o to_o god_n you_o do_v but_o that_o which_o you_o have_v both_o power_n and_o command_v to_o do_v and_o therefore_o god_n accept_v what_o you_o so_o dedicate_v to_o he_o and_o baptism_n be_v the_o regular_a way_n in_o which_o this_o dedication_n shall_v be_v solemn_o make_v but_o if_o through_o the_o want_n of_o a_o minister_n or_o water_n or_o time_n this_o be_v not_o do_v your_o believe_a dedication_n of_o your_o child_n to_o god_n without_o baptism_n shall_v be_v accept_v for_o it_o be_v the_o substance_n and_o not_o the_o sign_n the_o will_n and_o not_o the_o water_n which_o god_n require_v in_o this_o case_n quest_n but_o what_o then_o shall_v we_o think_v of_o the_o child_n of_o godly_a anabaptist_n who_o judgement_n be_v against_o such_o dedication_n answ_n many_o who_o judgement_n be_v against_o baptise_v they_o be_v not_o against_o a_o offering_n or_o dedicate_a they_o to_o god_n and_o those_o who_o think_v that_o they_o be_v not_o allow_v solemn_o to_o enter_v they_o into_o covenant_n with_o god_n yet_o real_o do_v that_o which_o be_v the_o same_o thing_n for_o they_o can_v be_v imagine_v to_o be_v unwilling_a to_o dedicate_v they_o to_o god_n to_o the_o utmost_a of_o that_o interest_n and_o power_n which_o they_o understand_v that_o god_n have_v give_v they_o and_o doubtless_o they_o most_o earnest_o desire_v that_o according_a to_o their_o capacity_n they_o may_v be_v the_o child_n of_o god_n and_o god_n will_v be_v their_o god_n in_o christ_n and_o this_o virtual_a dedication_n seem_v to_o be_v the_o principal_a requisite_a condition_n but_o yet_o as_o the_o unbaptised_a be_v ordinary_o without_o the_o visible_a church_n and_o its_o privilege_n so_o if_o any_o be_v so_o blind_a as_o neither_o explicitly_a nor_o virtual_o to_o dedicate_v their_o seed_n to_o god_n i_o know_v no_o promise_n of_o their_o child_n salvation_n any_o more_o than_o of_o the_o seed_n of_o infidel_n direct_v 3._o if_o the_o child_n of_o true_a christian_n dedicate_v by_o the_o parent_n will_v to_o god_n through_o christ_n shall_v die_v before_o they_o come_v to_o the_o use_n of_o reason_n the_o parent_n have_v no_o cause_n to_o doubt_v of_o their_o salvation_n it_o be_v the_o conclusion_n of_o the_o synod_n of_o dort_n in_o artic._n 1._o and_o the_o reason_n be_v this_o if_o the_o parent_n and_o child_n be_v in_o the_o same_o covenant_n then_o if_o that_o covenant_n pardon_n and_o adopt_v the_o parent_n it_o do_v pardon_n and_o adopt_v the_o child_n but_o the_o parent_n and_o child_n be_v in_o the_o same_o covenant_n therefore_o blessing_n be_v that_o he_o be_v the_o seed_n of_o a_o true_a believer_n and_o dedicate_v in_o covenant_n to_o god_n by_o the_o parent_n will_v or_o act_n actual_a faith_n be_v not_o prerequire_v seminal_a grace_n may_v be_v inherent_a but_o 1._o not_o know_v to_o the_o baptizer_n 2._o nor_o prerequire_v as_o a_o condition_n but_o like_a to_o be_v give_v by_o virtue_n of_o the_o covenant_n nothing_o else_o therefore_o be_v prerequisite_a as_o a_o condition_n it_o follow_v that_o as_o the_o parent_n dedicate_a themselves_o to_o god_n if_o baptize_v at_o age_n be_v the_o condition_n of_o their_o certain_a title_n to_o the_o present_a blessing_n of_o the_o covenant_n viz._n that_o god_n be_v their_o father_n christ_n their_o saviour_n and_o the_o spirit_n in_o covenant_n to_o operate_v in_o they_o to_o sanctification_n and_o their_o sin_n be_v all_o pardon_v and_o they_o be_v heir_n of_o heaven_n even_o so_o upon_o the_o parent_n dedication_n of_o their_o child_n to_o god_n they_o have_v right_a to_o the_o same_o blessing_n else_o why_o do_v we_o baptize_v they_o see_v baptism_n in_o the_o true_a nature_n and_o use_n of_o it_o be_v a_o solemn_a dedicate_a they_o to_o god_n in_o that_o same_o covenant_n and_o a_o solemn_a invest_v they_o in_o the_o relation_n and_o right_n of_o that_o same_o pardon_v covenant_n and_o not_o in_o any_o other_o i_o do_v not_o say_v that_o all_o baptize_v infant_n so_o die_v be_v save_v be_v they_o the_o child_n of_o infidel_n or_o heathen_n and_o remain_v their_o true_a propriety_n nor_o those_o that_o be_v offer_v and_o baptize_v never_o so_o wrongful_o or_o hypocritical_o nor_o will_v i_o stay_v to_o dispute_v for_o what_o i_o have_v assert_v but_o 1._o i_o exhort_v christian_n believe_o to_o dedicate_v their_o child_n in_o covenant_n with_o god_n in_o christ_n and_o 2._o to_o believe_v that_o if_o they_o so_o die_v that_o covenant_n of_o christ_n forbid_v they_o to_o doubt_v of_o their_o salvation_n direct_v 4._o let_v your_o duty_n be_v answerable_a to_o your_o hope_n and_o do_v not_o only_o pray_v for_o your_o child_n
sanctification_n but_o if_o they_o live_v endeavour_v it_o by_o all_o possible_a care_n in_o a_o wise_a and_o godly_a education_n remember_v that_o nature_n and_o your_o dedicate_a they_o to_o god_n covenant_n and_o you_o can_v have_v no_o assurance_n by_o any_o thing_n that_o you_o can_v do_v for_o they_o that_o ever_o they_o shall_v be_v convert_v though_o it_o be_v not_o past_a hope_n and_o if_o they_o be_v convert_v at_o age_n their_o pardon_n and_o adoption_n will_v be_v the_o effect_n of_o god_n covenant_n as_o than_o it_o be_v new_o enter_v with_o themselves_o and_o not_o as_o it_o be_v make_v before_o for_o they_o in_o infancy_n direct_v 6._o yâ—t_o because_o that_o still_o while_o there_o be_v life_n there_o be_v hope_n you_o ought_v not_o by_o despair_n or_o negligence_n to_o omit_v prayer_n exhortation_n or_o any_o other_o duty_n which_o you_o can_v perform_v in_o order_n to_o their_o recovery_n and_o though_o now_o they_o have_v will_n of_o their_o own_o their_o salvation_n be_v not_o lay_v so_o much_o upon_o you_o as_o it_o be_v in_o infancy_n at_o their_o first_o covenant_v with_o god_n yet_o still_o god_n will_v show_v his_o love_n to_o his_o servant_n
