reason_n to_o hope_n be_v godly_a have_v of_o late_a year_n give_v over_o family_n prayer_n as_o suppose_v though_o very_o blind_o that_o it_o be_v not_o a_o duty_n require_v by_o god_n 3._o many_o godly_a people_n do_v as_o much_o neglect_n teach_v their_o family_n as_o some_o of_o these_o in_o question_n do_v pray_v in_o their_o family_n and_o yet_o it_o be_v more_o express_o command_v deut._n 6_o &_o 11_o etc._n etc._n and_o for_o the_o observation_n of_o the_o sabbath_n i_o answer_v before_o that_o most_o of_o the_o godly_a in_o the_o reform_a church_n as_o far_o as_o i_o can_v learn_v by_o their_o write_n or_o by_o report_n be_v against_o it_o in_o strictness_n and_o therefore_o i_o suppose_v that_o sin_n be_v consistent_a with_o godliness_n and_o for_o godly_a discourse_n i_o will_v no_o godly_a people_n be_v not_o so_o neglective_a of_o it_o that_o their_o company_n become_v too_o unprofitable_a thereby_o some_o be_v much_o disable_v to_o good_a discourse_n by_o natural_a impediment_n as_o bashfulness_n etc._n etc._n want_v of_o word_n through_o ill_a education_n and_o disuse_n may_v hinder_v much_o it_o be_v only_o those_o that_o private_o live_v and_o converse_v the_o opinion_n of_o the_o separatist_n that_o think_v it_o unlawful_a to_o hear_v our_o minister_n or_o in_o our_o assembly_n and_o have_v no_o other_o to_o join_v with_o may_v hear_v none_o at_o all_o as_o i_o have_v know_v it_o the_o case_n of_o some_o in_o the_o bishop_n time_n so_o that_o the_o certainty_n of_o ungodliness_n be_v not_o discernible_a by_o this_o alone_a quest._n 11._o but_o there_o be_v some_o that_o will_v scorn_v and_o deride_v or_o revile_v the_o godly_a yea_o and_o persecute_v they_o where_o they_o have_v power_n be_v not_o that_o a_o certain_a note_n of_o one_o graceless_a answ._n it_o be_v one_o thing_n to_o scorn_n or_o persecute_v a_o godly_a man_n and_o another_o to_o scorn_v at_o godliness_n or_o it_o be_v one_o thing_n to_o persecute_v and_o scorn_v a_o man_n as_o he_o be_v godly_a direct_o on_o that_o account_n and_o another_o thing_n to_o scorn_n and_o persecute_v he_o for_o something_o else_o as_o upon_o some_o personal_a fall_n out_o or_o for_o some_o sin_n or_o false_a opinion_n or_o the_o like_a cause_n the_o late_a can_v be_v no_o certain_a discovery_n of_o a_o ungodly_a man_n quest._n 12._o but_o what_o if_o they_o deride_v and_o persecute_v godliness_n itself_o or_o a_o man_n because_o he_o be_v godly_a answ._n it_o be_v certain_o a_o heinous_a sin_n but_o we_o must_v distinguish_v between_o the_o deride_v of_o a_o man_n for_o the_o essential_o of_o christianity_n or_o for_o godliness_n as_o such_o and_o deride_v he_o for_o some_o doctrine_n or_o practice_n of_o godliness_n which_o be_v not_o essential_a also_o between_o a_o know_a truth_n and_o duty_n and_o a_o unknown_a it_o be_v too_o possible_a for_o a_o godly_a man_n to_o persecute_v and_o deride_v the_o godly_a for_o some_o truth_n which_o he_o take_v to_o be_v error_n or_o some_o duty_n which_o he_o mistake_v to_o be_v sin_n or_o to_o be_v no_o duty_n or_o for_o the_o manner_n of_o some_o duty_n which_o he_o take_v to_o be_v wrong_n alas_o ay_o how_o common_a be_v it_o for_o the_o separatist_n and_o anabaptist_n many_o of_o they_o to_o deride_v our_o ministry_n assemble_v and_o duty_n and_o many_o among_o we_o to_o deride_v they_o and_o they_o be_v the_o bitter_a taunt_n and_o persecution_n that_o come_v from_o blind_a zeal_n these_o time_n have_v by_o sad_a experience_n convince_v we_o that_o man_n seem_v otherwise_o
their_o seed_n which_o coram_fw-la deo_fw-la will_v warrant_v they_o to_o require_v and_o receive_v they_o prop._n 2._o god_n have_v not_o command_v or_o allow_v any_o that_o have_v not_o save_v faith_n to_o seek_v or_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n in_o that_o condition_n but_o have_v make_v it_o the_o order_n of_o their_o duty_n first_o to_o repent_v and_o believe_v and_o then_o to_o seek_v to_o sacrament_n be_v make_v on_o any_o condition_n beside_o save_a faith_n then_o 1._o either_o on_o the_o condition_n of_o the_o profession_n of_o that_o faith_n 2._o or_o on_o the_o condition_n of_o a_o real_a inferior_a faith_n or_o 3._o on_o condition_n of_o the_o profession_n of_o that_o inferior_a faith_n but_o none_o of_o these_o three_o ergo_fw-la the_o enumeration_n will_v be_v acknowledge_v sufficient_a by_o they_o that_o we_o have_v now_o to_o deal_v with_o and_o 1._o that_o the_o bare_a profession_n of_o save_a faith_n be_v never_o make_v the_o condition_n of_o any_o promise_n or_o deed_n of_o gift_n by_o which_o a_o title_n to_o baptism_n be_v convey_v appear_v 1._o in_o that_o none_o such_o be_v find_v in_o all_o the_o scripture_n god_n nowhere_o say_v if_o thou_o will_v but_o profess_v or_o say_v thâ—t_o thou_o believe_v thou_o shall_v be_v baptize_v or_o have_v right_o to_o sacrament_n though_o the_o church_n must_v administer_v they_o on_o that_o be_v what_o he_o be_v not_o or_o do_v what_o he_o do_v not_o or_o have_v what_o he_o have_v not_o much_o less_o will_v he_o make_v this_o the_o condition_n of_o his_o promise_n object_n god_n command_v both_o believe_a and_o profession_n therefore_o profession_n be_v part_n of_o their_o duty_n and_o their_o sin_n be_v not_o that_o they_o profess_v but_o that_o they_o do_v not_o believe_v answ._n but_o god_n so_o connex_v these_o duty_n together_o that_o the_o late_a be_v a_o sin_n and_o no_o duty_n if_o it_o keep_v not_o its_o place_n and_o be_v perform_v without_o the_o former_a if_o a_o man_n tell_v a_o lie_n by_o speak_v any_o good_a which_o he_o never_o think_v its_o true_a that_o god_n will_v have_v have_v he_o both_o think_v it_o and_o speak_v it_o and_o then_o it_o will_v have_v be_v no_o lie_n but_o he_o will_v not_o have_v he_o speak_v it_o before_o he_o think_v it_o for_o than_o its_o a_o lie_n and_o you_o can_v say_v that_o his_o sin_n be_v only_o in_o not_o think_v it_o and_o not_o in_o speak_v it_o which_o be_v part_n of_o his_o duty_n for_o it_o be_v both_o his_o sin_n not_o to_o think_v it_o and_o to_o speak_v it_o when_o he_o do_v not_o think_v it_o and_o speâ—king_v it_o be_v not_o his_o duty_n save_v upon_o presupposal_n that_o he_o think_v it_o or_o it_o be_v not_o in_o any_o other_o order_n to_o be_v perform_v the_o same_o be_v here_o the_o case_n between_o believe_v and_o profess_v to_o believe_v 3._o god_n make_v nothing_o the_o matter_n of_o duty_n or_o the_o condition_n of_o his_o gift_n but_o what_o have_v some_o moral_a worth_n in_o it_o which_o may_v show_v it_o fit_a to_o be_v well_o please_v to_o he_o but_o the_o bare_a verbal_a profession_n of_o that_o which_o be_v not_o in_o the_o heart_n have_v no_o such_o moral_a worth_n in_o it_o as_o may_v make_v it_o please_v in_o his_o eye_n ergo_fw-la 2._o and_o then_o for_o a_o inferior_a faith_n that_o this_o be_v not_o the_o condition_n of_o god_n promise_n i_o have_v full_o prove_v in_o another_o disputation_n moreover_o 1._o no_o such_o promise_n can_v be_v produce_v out_o of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n if_o it_o can_v its_o lâ—ke_n we_o shall_v have_v have_v it_o reason_n that_o shall_v move_v a_o parent_n to_o question_v his_o right_n will_v move_v he_o also_o to_o repent_v and_o recover_v his_o right_n no_o wonder_n therefore_o if_o the_o execution_n answer_v not_o god_n institution_n to_o all_o this_o it_o be_v object_v that_o we_o read_v not_o that_o any_o infant_n be_v keep_v back_o or_o that_o god_n blame_v they_o for_o it_o answ._n 1._o i_o
