spiritual_a sense_n in_o thou_o thou_o will_v feel_v and_o discern_v that_o such_o sweet_a and_o pleasant_a stream_n must_v needs_o flow_v from_o a_o sweet_a and_o good_a fountain_n know_v that_o one_o fountain_n do_v not_o send_v forth_o sweet_a and_o bitter_a water_n therefore_o the_o stream_n be_v sweet_a the_o fountain_n or_o well_o from_o whence_o they_o spring_v be_v sweet_a also_o and_o he_o have_v drink_v deep_a draught_n of_o the_o water_n that_o christ_n give_v it_o become_v in_o he_o a_o well_o of_o live_v water_n spring_v up_o into_o eternal_a life_n according_a to_o the_o say_n spend_v and_o to_o be_v spend_v for_o the_o gospel_n sake_n wherein_o he_o have_v his_o reward_n count_v nothing_o too_o dear_a of_o life_n relation_n or_o estate_n to_o resign_v up_o in_o and_o for_o that_o service_n wherein_o he_o manifest_v both_o his_o commission_n and_o power_n to_o be_v of_o god_n and_o not_o of_o man_n for_o the_o gather_v out_o of_o darkness_n false_a way_n and_o worship_n emty_a profession_n and_o vain_a tradition_n of_o man_n into_o the_o light_n and_o live_v way_n of_o truth_n that_o therein_o they_o may_v serve_v and_o worship_n god_n in_o spirit_n which_o admit_v of_o no_o confidence_n in_o the_o flesh_n nor_o product_n thereof_o he_o be_v a_o man_n of_o a_o tender_a spirit_n have_v a_o reverend_a esteem_n of_o his_o faithful_a brethren_n and_o elder_n in_o the_o truth_n and_o he_o have_v a_o tender_a care_n to_o preserve_v unity_n and_o brotherly_a love_n as_o also_o the_o sense_n he_o have_v of_o his_o reward_n make_v he_o cheerful_a in_o his_o service_n and_o fervent_a in_o spirit_n and_o zealous_a in_o his_o testimony_n against_o all_o false_a and_o deceitful_a spirit_n which_o slight_a and_o disesteem_n truth_n and_o lead_v into_o apostasy_n from_o the_o unity_n and_o fellowship_n of_o the_o gospel_n who_o way_n do_v not_o tend_v to_o peace_n but_o strife_n and_o self-separation_n he_o fervent_o preach_v the_o cross_n of_o christ_n and_o press_v the_o necessity_n of_o obedience_n through_o it_o and_o unto_o watchfulness_n in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n he_o preach_v faith_n in_o the_o power_n of_o god_n and_o the_o righteousness_n thereof_o not_o to_o stand_v in_o the_o wisdom_n of_o man_n nor_o in_o lifeless_a profession_n or_o traditional_a opinion_n nor_o yet_o to_o consist_v in_o self_n act_v and_o voluntary_a humility_n but_o in_o spirit_n and_o life_n from_o which_o live_v obedience_n and_o righteousness_n natural_o spring_v by_o which_o testimony_n and_o preach_v he_o be_v instrumental_a to_o affect_v the_o heart_n of_o many_o with_o the_o excellency_n of_o the_o truth_n as_o it_o be_v in_o jesus_n and_o turn_v many_o thereunto_o even_o from_o darkness_n unto_o light_n and_o from_o satan_n power_n to_o god_n that_o they_o may_v both_o receive_v remission_n of_o sin_n and_o possession_n of_o life_n eternal_a and_o as_o he_o have_v free_o receive_v of_o christ_n so_o he_o free_o give_v and_o as_o he_o be_v free_o give_v up_o to_o spend_v and_o to_o be_v spend_v for_o the_o lord_n so_o he_o spare_v not_o of_o his_o outward_a substance_n in_o his_o service_n his_o care_n be_v such_o to_o cut_v off_o occasion_n from_o such_o as_o seek_v they_o and_o so_o to_o keep_v the_o gospel_n without_o charge_n as_o that_o he_o many_o time_n will_v not_o use_v his_o power_n and_o freedom_n which_o christ_n allow_v his_o minister_n in_o that_o case_n as_o mention_v in_o luke_n chap._n 10._o verse_n 7._o but_o with_o the_o apostle_n paul_n debase_v himself_o that_o he_o may_v not_o prove_v chargeable_a to_o the_o church_n and_o indeed_o he_o go_v much_o a_o warfare_n at_o his_o own_o charge_n give_v free_o up_o both_o his_o liberty_n and_o life_n for_o the_o promotion_n of_o the_o gospel_n of_o truth_n both_o in_o this_o and_o other_o nation_n through_o many_o hazard_n and_o difficulty_n particular_o of_o late_a year_n in_o this_o city_n of_o london_n wherein_o the_o bless_a effect_n of_o his_o labour_n travel_n and_o suffering_n be_v feel_v and_o know_v by_o many_o and_o as_o he_o live_v in_o and_o by_o the_o faith_n of_o god_n elect_n so_o with_o he_o to_o yet_o be_v he_o endue_v with_o sound_a judgement_n to_o the_o discern_a of_o spirit_n and_o give_v no_o liberty_n to_o the_o flesh_n but_o be_v dreadful_a in_o his_o testimony_n against_o the_o life_n glory_n and_o custom_n of_o the_o world_n be_v redeem_v therefrom_o and_o make_v a_o witness_n through_o judgement_n of_o that_o pure_a spirit_n of_o glory_n which_o be_v before_o the_o world_n begin_v which_o vail_n and_o darken_v the_o beauty_n of_o flesh_n and_o gather_v into_o
and_o forewarn_v thy_o ruler_n also_o ofttimes_o of_o the_o evil_a to_o come_v and_o that_o they_o shall_v set_v free_a the_o oppress_v and_o break_v the_o heavy_a yoke_n of_o persecution_n from_o off_o the_o neck_n of_o god_n people_n that_o with_o freedom_n and_o cheerfulness_n they_o may_v serve_v he_o but_o they_o have_v not_o hearken_v thereunto_o nor_o regard_v at_o all_o therefore_o be_v thy_o plague_n come_v and_o thy_o judgement_n have_v not_o linger_v as_o be_v see_v at_o this_o day_n but_o well_o much_o of_o this_o kind_n have_v ofttimes_o be_v present_v to_o thy_o view_n and_o consideration_n so_o that_o i_o can_v even_o almost_o despair_v of_o hope_n that_o thou_o will_v hear_v or_o lend_v a_o ear_n unto_o what_o i_o say_v at_o this_o time_n because_o i_o experimental_o know_v that_o thou_o be_v a_o rebellious_a nation_n against_o the_o lord_n yet_o my_o bowel_n so_o yearn_v towards_o those_o of_o thy_o inhabitant_n who_o have_v not_o quite_o sin_v out_o their_o day_n that_o i_o can_v but_o strive_v with_o they_o a_o little_a in_o represent_v these_o thing_n to_o their_o consideration_n that_o such_o who_o have_v any_o tenderness_n leave_v in_o they_o may_v repent_v with_o speed_n and_o turn_v to_o the_o lord_n with_o all_o their_o heart_n not_o feign_o but_o in_o sincerity_n that_o so_o they_o may_v find_v a_o hide_v place_n in_o he_o from_o the_o wrath_n to_o come_v and_o that_o they_o may_v understand_v the_o cause_n wherefore_o the_o lord_n hand_n be_v stretch_v out_o against_o thou_o in_o judgement_n oh_o nation_n sure_o all_o who_o be_v prudent_a in_o spirit_n can_v but_o confess_v and_o acknowledge_v that_o these_o thing_n before_o mention_v be_v the_o very_a cause_n of_o the_o present_a visitation_n that_o be_v upon_o thou_o and_o also_o of_o the_o future_a judgement_n which_o be_v threaten_v for_o these_o be_v but_o the_o begin_n of_o thy_o sorrow_n which_o it_o to_o come_v upon_o thou_o because_o thou_o repent_v not_o of_o thy_o evil_a deed_n well_o but_o some_o it_o may_v be_v will_v say_v what_o and_o where_o have_v be_v the_o cause_n that_o all_o these_o abomination_n have_v thus_o abound_v and_o be_v continue_v in_o thou_o see_v thou_o have_v have_v such_o a_o large_a profession_n of_o a_o reform_a christian_a religion_n to_o who_o i_o say_v search_v and_o examine_v whether_o or_o no_o the_o main_a ground_n and_o cause_n be_v not_o find_v in_o thy_o teacher_n and_o leader_n for_o have_v they_o not_o cause_v thou_o to_o err_v and_o have_v they_o not_o strengthen_v the_o hand_n of_o the_o worker_n of_o iniquity_n so_o that_o none_o can_v turn_v from_o the_o evil_a of_o his_o way_n by_o promise_v of_o he_o life_n and_o may_v not_o i_o say_v of_o thy_o teacher_n oh_o england_n as_o the_o prophet_n of_o the_o lord_n say_v of_o the_o false_a prophet_n in_o his_o day_n viz._n from_o the_o prophet_n of_o israel_n be_v profaneness_n go_v forth_o into_o all_o the_o earth_n for_o have_v not_o they_o leader_n be_v evil_a example_n unto_o thou_o of_o profaneness_n of_o drunkenness_n and_o whoredom_n many_o of_o they_o and_o universal_o of_o covetousness_n which_o be_v idolatry_n for_o most_o or_o all_o must_v needs_o see_v that_o their_o heart_n be_v go_v after_o covetous_a practice_n and_o by_o their_o lie_n against_o the_o people_n of_o god_n and_o by_o their_o lightness_n they_o have_v cause_v the_o people_n to_o err_v from_o the_o right_a way_n and_o have_v lead_v they_o into_o rebellion_n against_o the_o light_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n wherewith_o they_o be_v enlighten_v which_o will_v have_v lead_v they_o out_o of_o the_o dark_a path_n of_o ignorance_n and_o work_n of_o iniquity_n under_o pretence_n that_o it_o be_v a_o dangerous_a principle_n to_o be_v adhere_v unto_o and_o that_o it_o be_v not_o sufficient_a to_o lead_v out_o of_o sin_n nor_o to_o save_v from_o sin_n when_o indeed_o there_o be_v none_o other_o name_n give_v under_o heaven_n whereby_o man_n can_v be_v save_v from_o sin_n but_o the_o name_n of_o jesus_n who_o preach_v himself_o the_o light_n of_o the_o world_n and_o who_o light_v every_o man_n that_o come_v into_o the_o world_n and_o who_o free_a grace_n that_o bring_v salvation_n have_v appear_v unto_o all_o man_n so_o that_o all_o who_o turn_v from_o this_o grace_n of_o god_n which_o teach_v we_o to_o live_v sober_o and_o righteous_o and_o godly_a in_o this_o present_a evil_a world_n such_o turn_n from_o the_o right_a way_n and_o all_o who_o rebel_n against_o this_o light_n wherewith_o they_o be_v enlighten_v they_o know_v not_o the_o way_n thereof_o as_o job_n say_v and_o so_o they_o be_v stranger_n to_o the_o good_a and_o right_a way_n which_o be_v christ_n who_o light_v every_o man_n that_o come_v into_o the_o of_o they_o into_o prison_n for_o their_o filthy_a lukers_n sake_n and_o how_o have_v they_o provoke_v and_o stir_v up_o thy_o ruler_n and_o people_n to_o the_o same_o work_n and_o even_o make_v they_o their_o vassal_n to_o fulfil_v their_o envious_a will_n so_o that_o all_o these_o thing_n be_v consider_v with_o many_o more_o which_o may_v be_v mention_v have_v we_o not_o just_a cause_n to_o attribute_v the_o main_a ground_n of_o thy_o continue_v in_o these_o so_o gross_a abomination_n unto_o these_o covetous_a hireling_n and_o filthy_a dreamer_n that_o defile_v the_o flesh_n i_o confess_v i_o can_v but_o believe_v that_o there_o be_v multitude_n of_o thousand_o within_o thy_o border_n oh_o england_n that_o see_v their_o folly_n and_o madness_n and_o their_o unstableness_n and_o how_o they_o toss_v up_o and_o down_o and_o be_v drive_v about_o with_o every_o tempest_n that_o arise_v even_o as_o cloud_n without_o rain_n as_o their_o predecessor_n be_v who_o the_o apostle_n speak_v of_o and_o see_v come_v in_o his_o day_n who_o go_v in_o cain_n way_n of_o persecution_n and_o murder_n and_o be_v wander_a star_n for_o who_o be_v reserve_v the_o blackness_n of_o darkness_n for_o ever_o for_o have_v not_o the_o unstabillity_n of_o these_o
therein_o that_o the_o cause_n of_o god_n may_v not_o be_v betray_v by_o any_o through_o their_o decline_v from_o that_o godly_a practice_n and_o duty_n that_o the_o enemy_n may_v not_o be_v encourage_v thereby_o to_o vaunt_v against_o the_o remnant_n that_o be_v faithful_a to_o oppose_v they_o therein_o also_o but_o rather_o through_o your_o faithfulness_n and_o stability_n the_o enemy_n may_v be_v discourage_v in_o his_o enterprise_n and_o put_v to_o flight_n that_o you_o may_v be_v conqueror_n over_o he_o and_o may_v tread_v satan_n under_o foot_n and_o may_v reign_v with_o the_o lamb_n for_o ever_o and_o my_o friend_n consider_v the_o faithfulness_n of_o many_o of_o the_o servant_n of_o the_o lord_n who_o love_v not_o their_o life_n unto_o death_n who_o be_v go_v before_o who_o preach_v and_o make_v know_v the_o truth_n and_o way_n of_o life_n to_o you_o how_o they_o labour_v and_o travel_v among_o you_o in_o the_o name_n and_o strength_n of_o the_o lord_n to_o beget_v you_o unto_o god_n and_o to_o build_v you_o up_o in_o the_o most_o precious_a faith_n and_o how_o they_o exhort_v you_o time_n after_o time_n to_o that_o godly_a practice_n of_o assemble_v together_o and_o how_o they_o give_v example_n and_o precedent_n therein_o as_o well_o as_o exhortation_n thereunto_o nay_o have_v not_o divers_a of_o they_o lay_v down_o their_o life_n not_o count_v they_o dear_a to_o they_o for_o that_o very_a practice_n of_o assemble_v together_o yea_o certain_o they_o have_v so_o some_o in_o prison_n and_o some_o otherwise_o oh_o therefore_o my_o friend_n this_o s._n in_o his_o epistle_n dedicatory_a have_v make_v such_o a_o great_a noise_n about_o miracle_n wrought_v by_o a_o roman_n catholic_n priest_n in_o and_o about_o london_n and_o westminster_n yet_o when_o he_o come_v to_o prove_v that_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n be_v powerful_a in_o miracle_n than_o he_o do_v just_a as_o much_o as_o nothing_o but_o take_v a_o easy_a way_n to_o get_v out_o from_o that_o thing_n which_o seem_o he_o undertake_v to_o go_v through_o with_o by_o refer_v of_o we_o for_o a_o witness_n of_o his_o affirmation_n to_o nostre_fw-fr dame_n de_fw-fr loretto_n nostre_fw-fr dame_n de_fw-fr montague_n nostre_fw-fr dame_n de_fw-fr hall_n and_o to_o the_o whole_a world_n etc._n etc._n now_o what_o a_o pitiful_a proof_n or_o witness_n be_v this_o which_o a._n s._n direct_v we_o to_o for_o as_o the_o apostle_n say_v the_o whole_a world_n lie_v in_o wickedness_n 1_o john_n 5.19_o and_o wonder_n after_o the_o beast_n by_o who_o lie_v miracle_n be_v wrought_v rev._n 13.3_o so_o that_o the_o miracle_n which_o the_o world_n bear_v witness_n to_o be_v lie_v miracle_n for_o the_o world_n know_v not_o christ_n nor_o his_o church_n 1_o joh._n 3.1_o by_o who_o true_a miracle_n be_v wrought_v for_o when_o christ_n wrought_v miracle_n among_o the_o world_n they_o do_v not_o bear_v witness_n to_o he_o but_o say_v he_o do_v it_o by_o the_o prince_n of_o devil_n his_o affirmation_n have_v do_v just_a as_o much_o as_o nothing_o only_o make_v a_o show_n like_o a_o cloud_n without_o rain_n but_o methinks_v if_o there_o be_v so_o many_o miracle_n wrought_v daily_o by_o a_o roman_a priest_n about_o london_n etc._n etc._n as_o a._n s._n seem_v to_o make_v a_o noise_n of_o he_o shall_v have_v instance_a some_o of_o they_o particular_o for_o our_o satisfaction_n but_o see_v he_o have_v not_o instance_a any_o we_o have_v just_a cause_n to_o believe_v that_o there_o be_v none_o at_o all_o nine_o so_o to_o proceed_v to_o the_o nine_o part_n of_o a._n s._n his_o first_o argument_n viz._n out_o of_o the_o true_a church_n none_o can_v be_v save_v i_o answer_v that_o thing_n i_o do_v not_o at_o all_o deny_v for_o all_o that_o be_v save_v be_v of_o the_o true_a church_n but_o that_o none_o can_v be_v save_v out_o of_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n that_o i_o do_v deny_v for_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n be_v not_o the_o true_a church_n but_o the_o whore_n that_o drink_v the_o blood_n of_o the_o saint_n as_o afore-proved_n therefore_o out_o of_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n people_n may_v be_v save_v wherefore_o let_v all_o who_o expect_v or_o desire_v salvation_n make_v haste_n out_o of_o this_o great_a city_n babylon_n and_o run_v for_o your_o life_n towards_o jerusalem_n the_o holy_a city_n the_o true_a church_n the_o lamb_n wife_n sedition_n and_o not_o as_o saint_n and_o servant_n of_o the_o lord_n in_o their_o adversary_n account_v act_v 24.5_o and_o thus_o the_o murder_a persecute_v spirit_n have_v in_o all_o age_n as_o at_o this_o day_n seek_v to_o shelter_v itself_o but_o this_o cover_n must_v now_o be_v rip_v off_o for_o the_o power_n of_o god_n be_v arisen_a that_o rend_v the_o vail_n of_o darkness_n and_o the_o day_n receive_v the_o punishment_n aforesaid_a and_o refuse_v to_o have_v fellowship_n with_o they_o and_o this_o be_v the_o great_a punishment_n that_o ever_o the_o true_a church_n inflict_v upon_o any_o though_o they_o be_v rebellious_a and_o this_o be_v the_o way_n to_o make_v true_a believer_n of_o people_n which_o force_n and_o compulsion_n by_o penal_a law_n will_v never_o do_v though_o its_o true_a compulsive_a law_n may_v make_v many_o of_o they_o hypocrite_n who_o fear_v man_n more_o than_o god_n but_o they_o who_o fear_v not_o man_n that_o can_v kill_v the_o body_n and_o can_v do_v no_o more_o but_o fear_v the_o lord_n god_n almighty_a above_o all_o such_o will_v not_o bow_v to_o the_o compulsive_a law_n of_o man_n which_o violate_v the_o righteous_a law_n of_o god_n in_o their_o own_o heart_n no_o more_o than_o shadrach_n meshach_n and_o abednego_n will_v bow_v to_o the_o image_n that_o nebuchadnezar_n set_v up_o though_o for_o their_o steadfastness_n they_o suffer_v the_o pang_n of_o death_n as_o many_o of_o their_o predecessor_n
