half_o provide_v for_o have_v you_o a_o treasure_n in_o heaven_n have_v you_o lay_v hold_v on_o eternal_a life_n have_v you_o make_v sure_a work_n for_o everlasting_a have_v you_o past_o the_o strait_n of_o the_o new-birth_n do_v your_o bear_n upon_o you_o the_o mark_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n if_o you_o shall_v pass_v by_o a_o sumptuous_a fabric_n and_o a_o great_a lordship_n and_o shall_v lay_v claim_n to_o all_o as_o your_o inheritance_n and_o please_v yourself_o with_o the_o hope_n of_o enjoy_v all_o this_o when_o you_o have_v nothing_o to_o show_v no_o write_n no_o evidence_n to_o produce_v as_o a_o ground_n for_o any_o such_o hope_n will_v not_o every_o one_o say_v this_o be_v a_o piece_n of_o strange_a vanity_n and_o imprudence_n much_o great_a folly_n be_v it_o to_o promise_v ourselves_o a_o part_n in_o paradise_n and_o rest_v satisfy_v in_o a_o mere_a persuasion_n that_o we_o be_v the_o heir_n of_o heaven_n when_o we_o can_v prove_v our_o title_n from_o the_o book_n of_o god_n nor_o produce_v from_o within_o ourselves_o the_o sure_a and_o certain_a mark_n of_o the_o child_n of_o god_n ah_o dear_a cousin_a rouse_v up_o yourself_o make_v conscience_n to_o deal_v plain_o and_o free_o with_o your_o soul_n say_v within_o yourself_o i_o have_v hope_n for_o heaven_n but_o where_o be_v my_o ground_n and_o my_o evidence_n do_v i_o not_o build_v without_o a_o foundation_n do_v i_o venture_v my_o salvation_n upon_o mere_a uncertainty_n what_o have_v i_o what_o do_v i_o more_o than_o other_o i_o pray_v i_o hear_v i_o read_v but_o may_v not_o a_o mere_a hypocrite_n do_v all_o this_o i_o
to_o weep_v daughter_n of_o jerusalem_n weep_v not_o for_o i_o and_o in_o the_o second_o place_n we_o have_v his_o permission_n in_o which_o he_o allow_v they_o to_o weep_v but_o weep_v for_o yourselves_o and_o for_o your_o child_n and_o yet_o you_o see_v he_o do_v not_o here_o command_v and_o forbid_v the_o same_o thing_n in_o the_o same_o respect_n but_o in_o relation_n to_o a_o diverse_a object_n in_o relation_n to_o himself_o he_o forbid_v they_o to_o weep_v weep_v not_o for_o i_o in_o relation_n to_o themselves_o he_o allow_v they_o to_o weep_v but_o weep_v for_o yourselves_o and_o for_o your_o child_n the_o total_a final_a and_o irreparable_a 〈◊〉_d of_o jerusalem_n be_v near_o at_o hand_n our_o saviour_n have_v it_o in_o his_o eye_n when_o he_o speak_v these_o word_n he_o weep_v apace_o for_o this_o himself_o but_o a_o little_a while_n before_o as_o you_o may_v see_v luke_n 19_o 41._o he_o behold_v the_o city_n and_o weep_v over_o it_o first_o he_o behold_v it_o with_o his_o eye_n and_o then_o his_o eye_n affect_v his_o heart_n woe_n and_o alas_o say_v he_o while_o in_o a_o pang_n of_o holy_a pity_n and_o compassion_n the_o tear_n come_v flow_v down_o his_o cheek_n if_o thou_o have_v know_v even_o thou_o at_o least_o in_o this_o thy_o day_n the_o thing_n which_o belong_v unto_o thy_o peace_n but_o now_o they_o be_v hide_v from_o thy_o eye_n saviour_n be_v not_o whole_o to_o suppress_v but_o to_o rectify_v their_o sorrow_n they_o weep_v for_o he_o out_o of_o a_o childish_a kind_n of_o pity_n but_o they_o weep_v not_o for_o their_o sin_n nor_o the_o unseen_a calamity_n that_o be_v about_o to_o come_v upon_o they_o and_o therefore_o christ_n endeavour_v to_o withdraw_v their_o sorrow_n from_o the_o wrong_n and_o fix_v it_o on_o the_o right_a object_n and_o to_o this_o end_n he_o show_v they_o why_o they_o shall_v not_o weep_v and_o why_o they_o shall_v weep_v not_o for_o i_o but_o for_o yourselves_o and_o for_o your_o child_n two_o observation_n lie_v before_o we_o in_o the_o text._n the_o first_o that_o it_o be_v not_o unlawful_a nor_o unfit_a sometime_o to_o express_v our_o grief_n in_o tear_n the_o second_o that_o we_o be_v very_o oubject_a to_o misplace_v our_o grief_n and_o to_o mistake_v the_o ground_n and_o object_n of_o our_o sorrow_n i_o shall_v speak_v to_o these_o in_o order_n begin_v with_o the_o first_o doct._n that_o it_o be_v not_o unlawful_a nor_o unfit_a sometime_o to_o express_v our_o grief_n in_o tear_n we_o have_v our_o saviour_n warrant_n for_o it_o in_o the_o text_n weep_v for_o yourselves_o and_o for_o your_o child_n there_o weep_v and_o weep_v on_o how_o often_o be_v we_o call_v upon_o to_o weep_v in_o scripture_n oh_o what_o a_o cloud_n of_o weeper_n shall_v we_o find_v there_o who_o be_v all_o witness_n to_o this_o great_a truth_n and_o some_o of_o they_o the_o wise_a and_o the_o holy_a mention_v in_o the_o book_n of_o god_n without_o exception_n our_o saviour_n christ_n himself_o the_o holy_a one_o and_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n be_v a_o very_a great_a weeper_n he_o be_v a_o man_n of_o sorrow_n not_o of_o a_o few_o but_o many_o sorrow_n isa._n 53._o 3._o you_o
